There are a few ways to go about it

If one wants to do it strictly by Pokemon Rules, one could use Pokemon Showdown. Recreate the teams and battle, then post the battle here (it has all those tools)
The winner could be determined beforehand and the sides just play out the battle
Let the entire thing just play out over post and use dice for the chance of status effects

I would put it up to those who are battling to actually decide amongst themselves
