Druddigon!!! I love that new card! I'll see if I can be converted into a Gyrados believer bahahahaha! :P

(P.S. I was being harsh on Gyrados, but I was actually trying to collect my Gyrados EX as well, since I have been wanting to play with some water decks with huge damage. :P)
I saw a lot of discussion about Gyrados EX being the worst EX on day 1. People are not good at gauging a card's power pre-release. It's not as clear-cut as in other games.
I still need 1 more copy - thus I have been playing standard Gyrados... I wonder picked my first one, hoping to get the second that way soon. Hopefully, we can both give it a try before the next set of packs power creeps it xD

Speaking of which, this chat inspired me to open the game and finally pull my second copy of Arcanine. Might give that a spin when I feel like playing some matches.

My boy gengar is so low and I want to make druddigon work since all I need is Fire and Water
Feels bad that people just use your boy Druddigon as a meat shield. At least he is a meta card? Just not for his attack, lol.

Gamers, questions:

1. How do we feel about TM or egg moves?

2. We're starting at level 10 right?

TM moves are okay - as long as they are low-power. I'll let you know if one is too strong, so no harm done if you pick one that I think is on the stronger side. Simply pick a new one, or better yet - let me know what you have in mind before, so I can give you a guaranteed yes or no. And yes, level 10 is about the power level I have in mind. We ain't going off levels IC, but I have no better way to communicate what I have in mind for a starting experience level, haha.

O.O
Oh if anything Gengar's art is still absolute fire tho, it looks super cool!!! I have a lot of missing EX's as well, I try to do every wonderpicks with EX I can to better my chance at getting some EXs! Hope you get your boy soon <3
Itโ€™s beautiful Iโ€™m so in love with this art even though heโ€™s pretty bad but itโ€™s still worth it and Iโ€™ll look around for wonder picks of it

"Let ye be graced by Arcanine's blessing to weather all turn one Misties!!!" (ignore the fact Arcane boy is weak against...)

Yeesh that took forever. I wasn't expecting her backstory to be so intense....

so that's where the eevee claim went. Glad I let it go and went to Misdreavus, because Clara seems interesting

Trying so hard to not squeal but omg!!!? The new characters (I'm a stalker shh) are so cool??

I loved reading them, everyone's popping out with the unique backstorys fr. Lovely work people, keep it up!

Aaaa, I'm excited to see the characters interacting tbh! The backstories are very interesting, I agree! There does seem to be a recurring theme of family drama, though. XD

Oop, not me looking back at the sheets and realizing you're right.

Family: An excellent plot device for Storytelling

Too true I fear.

But dw! Found family tropes are a good comfort for angsty parents, so we can make something happen and heal from it! (Or traumatize them back? Revenge plot twist!)

Found family tropes are sooooooo fun, I love me a good found family.

I'm honestly really excited to see the characters develop and grow together, the conflict that might arise.... I'm also super hyped to see who gets teamed up with who.

I will write my CS tonight. Probably would be a female joltik formerly owned by a human.
Intriguing. Remember that humans cannot know about Nebuline. Her arrival on the island has to be by a means where humans remain in the dark. For example, she could have arrived on the shore, after ending up adrift in the sea somehow,,, OR perhaps a water Pokemon found her somehow in the bordering ocean, and brought her back.

Hi I am interested but won't be able to whip up a CS til after Christmas if that's acceptable.
You're all good! I won't be starting until after Christmas C:

Yeah I am not intending my Pokemon to have human connections it just doesnt make sense. I have a Pokemon OC that's a Magnemite so probs will shove him in there. ๐Ÿ‘

Noivian Noivian DistractionAttack DistractionAttack Both of your sheets have been read over by me and are good to go!!

Indeed, indeed. A convenient trope to fall on when you want to add a little bit of angst and trauma xD
I know itโ€™s very convenient but I wanted there to be a disconnect since Drapions are dark/poison and Skorupi Bug/poison. There be a philosophical difference where dark type do whatever they can to survive where bugs form communities to survive

Dis is true. I enjoy you providing some perspective in regards to how their typing/culture might shape their beliefs. I didn't intend to poke fun at anyone or anythingโ€”the cliches are popular for a reason. Many people can relate to them due to their own personal experiences. And they're just plain fun to write!! ๐Ÿ‘€

Oh I didn't catch on to that, the type difference between Skorupi and its evolution!!! It is interesting to think about how this kind of type difference can influence the family dynamics of a species. :O

On an unrelated note, I found an image of a Skorupi plush like asdfsadgfashjk it's so cute like what!??????? I am excited to see how Vexer interacts with others with her scorpion/bug like anatomy! I think she will have adorable body languages haha!

I played with how typing might influence Pokemon interactions a lot myself, it was unintentional at first, but the fact that Castle's father is 4 times weak to fire I think became a somewhat poetic thing to think about, that his father is still willing to keep Castle warm despite having a typing that's basically allergic to fire. And Castle in turn, becames nervous about fire because he is aware that it is very bad for his father.

I did notice most characters have troubled family, I think it's something interesting really. Just from the backgrounds, or just on the topic of their families alone, I think there will be plenty opportunities for the fellas to have meaningful interactions. Almost makes it easy to imagine that 'child abandonment' is brutally common in the Pokemon world, yet still not a norm, so it becomes meaningful if the characters can bond over that experience. I think if opportunity allows Castle can take his friends to play in the snow and talks about family stuff for group therapy purposes! (loool though I imagine they'll mostly only get to bond under life or death circumstances :'))

From Castle's perspective alone, I can already see a lot of aspects from his life that can immediately help him to relate and connect with the cast: being raised by a different species, feeling like the odds one out, grappling with irrational fears, masking insecurities......
(On a side note, I am very excited about the Yamper that's still cooking in the CS page! He seems to be a ray of sunshine! Please be the group's therapy dog!!!)

A Joltik is a very unique pick. While I want to keep interactions with humans low or non-existent, I think one character having had exposure does bring a somewhat unique dynamic. Namely, I can imagine Stella bringing up her past and no one believing a word. She'd chirp on about humans and others would nod their heads solemnly, grieving what trauma this bug must have gone through to create such an imaginative tale xD

Yamper is all good to go. He looks like a fun character. I enjoy their backstory for being a bit more,,, typical? For what you might expect in this sort of setting. Boi is a down-to-earth lovable doggo with a happy upbringing.

You're all good to swap Confusion back with Psybeam if it's something you'd still like to do. My grasp of the character's strengths is better now.

In other news, I hope everyone enjoys their Christmas! I've decided that we will be going with teams of 3. After Christmas is wrapped up, you can start thinking about what characters would be the most fun to adventure with. I'll keep up with the discussion and take notes as needed.
