Part I - The blood-dimmed tide

Erika LeBlanc

Benton's voice seemed still somewhat unnerved, but he had said he was alright, so Erika wasn't going to press on the question. She knew very well like Emiyn that looks didn't indicate the person's strength and mentality.

Unfortunately, Erika hadn't followed along when he was walking away. Suddenly, from behind her there was another voice. Her alertness immediately rose up where a man's voice dropped into the silence in the street. She let go of Kurio's hand immeidately and turned behind her. There was the red-haired girl's figure, and behind her was a young man with grey-blue hair and sharp eyes. While the girl was asking questions Erika remained quiet while giving a slightly wary look. If this had been in the broad daylight in the street, the teenage girl would have gotten rather excited at seeing such a pretty-faced boy. Right now, was not the time. Not with Kurio still in a daze.

"Hey Benton," she dared to turn her back from Ikari and Chizuru, since they didn't have a malicious look in their eyes." What sh-- huh?" she blinked seeing that his figure couldn't be seen. Chewing her inner cheek a little, a small voice said Oh no within her head. What should she do? While still contemplating, she turned back to the other three.

Gin's footsteps finally had stopped, she hadn't reached the gates but from where she was at she could see the peak of it beyond the outline of the two-storey building in the street. With light skips in her steps she made her way towards the gate. No one was there, but her excited smile didn't falter as she pressed her hand against the door. It was almost negligible, but with her magic strength, carried over from another world, Gin could feel it.

The mana of the one she had seen years ago. He probably wouldn't have known that Gin had remembered very distinctively his mana before. Or perhaps he did. It mattered little.

"You're here...finally..." she breathed out. On the surface, she looked like a girl in blissful peace while she leaned her head against the door. No surprise, of course. One of those that she loved was here. Someone she loved so much that she could ... devour them.

The demon pushed herself off the wall and back onto her usual standing position while patting the dust off her hands. She turned around and faced towards the central part of the city again. There was a soft hum of a song while she walked.

Just as Cider had attacked towards the monk, the shadows around Peach, Cider and the monk grew darker than any shade of black. They quivered and rippled as if there was something shaking underneath a dark blanket. Cider stopped his movements and looked down. 'What witchcraft is this?" he hissed under his breath. One could not even feel any presence of magic from the strange moving black shapes. There was no hint of mana, and no one around seemed to be performing any magical rituals of sorts.

From where Mr Monk was, black masses in the shapes of vines, ropes and strings shot out from the monk's shadow. Cider almost leapt back as these ... black ropes seemed to want to wrap and tighten around the monk like a trap.

@GoldenChari @Solemn Jester

Peach started to get scared as it became black, then when the shadows started to ripple she took a startled step back. It was like a hero's rise to fame where the hero was fighting the impossible. Unfortunately, this was real life and she was right in the fray. "W-What's going on?!" She called out, fear leaking into her voice like freshly spilled ink. "This better not be something your doing or I s-swear! This joke isn't funny, whoever is doing it!" Peach shouted, the volume at a normal person's talking voice. She was shaking violently and had already thought she could see her skin color at her feet in a puddle. Whatever was happening, she knew it was far beyond her control AND  that it would be forever engraved into her mind like ancient ruins.

Mittens popped her fluffy head out from the bag she was in, sensing the fear Peach was in. The second she saw the shadows, she was hissing, fur standing up all over her tiny, adorable body. She'd protect Peach from this even if she had to perish. The girl deserved much more then what had happened to her and Mittens understood at least that much.

The snow-haired girl took a deep sigh outwards as her prediction was correct. The hounds weren't coming towards them any faster so Garrett rolled into a fast run. She could almost start to feel a tingling deep in her stomach as they neared and when he placed her on the ground her whole face seemed to light up as she reached out for her baby. Once the Scythe was in her hands she thrust it towards her chest and snuggled it in tight, making deep cooing noises as her voice only grew more high pitched. "OOOooo my baby! My sharp baby, mumma is here.... shh shhh I'd never leave intentionally you know that...my precious little dear..." spinning the stick around her palm making the whole Scythe twirl before she clutched it suddenly and making it stop mid momentum. She slung it over her back with a nod and an adorable smile as he lifted her back up onto his shoulders and continued to walk.

"Feeling much better... thank you Garry Baby..." leaning forward over him to kiss his lips suddenly and forcefully before just as quickly pulling back. "We should try and find the others...if I know Yuki she'll be heading towards town by now..." It was as she was peering around did she hear the sounds of sobs. Refara blinked  as she wordlessly slipped herself from Garrett's shoulder and placed a warm hand on his arm. "Do...you hear that Garry?" But as with most things she was already walking in the direction of the sound before he could answer. She was more curious to her then any sort of heart felt emotion. That was when she spotted something all curled up against the ground and she approached with a hand on her chin, eyebrow raised. "HEY!" She yelled at it in a crude manner. "Why you making a funny noise?" Not realizing it was Marth or why he was crying.

Marth Flames

Marth heard a voice as it yelled. He seemed to calm down as the voices hissed, trying to continue feeding from him as he uncurled enough to only see a person. He didn't know it was the woman he almost killed, or the big strong guy who was merciless.

The smalll child only saw a caring person and he got up and scampered over, colliding with the woman's right leg, his head being right below her knee, as he wrapped his arms around the soft, warm, comforting flesh of another human before he continued crying though he wasn't sobbing uncontrollably.

"Pwease dun weave me awo-oh-oh-ooone!" He managed to wail out as he nuzzled her leg. The demons growled and went up in smoke, lurking in the shadows knowing another opportunity would strike eventually.

Marth however hadn't ever acted like this. It was forbidden, a taboo. However these people had cracked a heavy sealent on his body placed by his mistress. He actually could be sad for being the one thing he feared the most. Being alone.

He didn't care about the reprecussions at that time. All he thought was that another living being had found him and scared the monsters away from his mind, even if they hadn't made them vanish in his tiny, fragile heart.

Refara was leaning down at the waist to peer to this weird small creature at it made that funny noise but it was only as it started to uncoil did the girl half leap up and away with a horrified look on her face as she realized it was that weird little human that had been surrounded by cats. The same weird cat human that told her to stop slicing up those Pixie's and made her loose her concentration. Glancing down to her midriff at the scar that was still there, albeit with no stitches anymore, but there all the same that had ruined her beautiful skin. Her purple eyes narrowed down again but she was shocked when the little human suddenly ran to her and clutched at her leg, gripping onto it tightly as his cheeks looked wet. Why where his cheeks wet? Why was he making that noise? She withheld her normal response to simply kick the little human as far away from her as possible, her brain more trying desperately to work out just what he was doing. And was he talking? Was it some new language she had never heard of before? He looked odd enough to have another language she supposed.

Odd odd little human. She glanced around to Garrett with that half eyebrow raised expression before she reached down with a half disgusted look on her face and slowly grasped the little human by the back of his clothes and peeled him off and dangle him up to her level, not unlike one might with a feral cat or dirty pair of socks. "What would Yuki do..." She thought almost more to herself, as she peered to him with that same furrowed brow expression before she kept him aloft and turned to start to walk in the general direction of where she assumed Roselea was. Keeping him an arms length away. "We...should take him back to Yuki at the very least, I'm sure she wouldn't much like me abandoning some Little Human making a weird noise in the middle of a Forest...." Glancing over to Garrett with that same eyebrow raised, weird half disgusted manner. Not unlike one might react to a cockroach.

Marth slowly stopped crying as he could see who it was and when he did he went quiet, his tattered shirt moving him to fully look at her. He wiped his face with his left hand and whimpered a bit.

"M-miss..." He started. The kid only hoped she didn't get angry. If she bonked him on the head then thats what she did. "I sawwie yew got huwt bee cause of me." Marth stated as he stared into her eyes. "I'll do wha ever yew need me tew and wha ever yew do tew me is fine. Just dun weave me awone..." He ended. His ears shifted under his hair slightly as he was nervous and his tail wiggled a tad. It was quite obvious he was not trying to make her be angry with him.

Garrett glared down at the small child with open resentment as he clung to Refara's leg, only to be peeled off. His anger was not undeserved though, as this was the child that had interrupted his girlfriend's concentration while she was fighting the pixies and had caused her to be injured. Now, Garrett didn't mind the fact that Refara now had a scar, she was still exceedingly beautiful to him. What he did mind was the fact that she had been hurt because of him. To the man that was a crime punishable by death, which was exactly what he was preparing to mete out when Refara spoke, saying that they should bring the little fuck to Yuki. In doing so she saved his life as Garrett decided that she should have the final say there, given that it was she who actually got hurt and not him. Accordingly, the tall mercenary gritted his teeth and bore his anger, beginning to walk in the direction he believed the town to be. Counting down the seconds until he could be rid of the kid and the temptation to break him.

Upon reaching the town Garrett immediately noticed that something was off, aside from the fog that is. It just felt wrong to him, not the way such a city should be. Rather than being bustling it was oppressive, as if a dark cloud of fear hung low over the residents. That said, he wasn't in the least bit surprised by this development, given the odd events leading up to this point. Even so, he couldn't help but be on his guard against something suddenly happening. Garrett had incredibly sharp instincts and right now they were telling him that this town meant trouble, a message that brought a grin to the man's face, trouble he liked.

It was at that moment that a sign caught his eye, the sign to a weapons shop. He had been meaning to poke around in one for a while, see if he could find something to supplement his fists in combat. However, in all the other shops he had visited he hadn't been able to find anything worth using. Swords were far too light and fragile, and axes didn't give him the same satisfaction as crushing something did. Thus, the mercenary had realized that what he needed was a hammer, but even then he hadn't been able to find one that really worked for him. There was always something off about them, something that made it so that the hammer just felt wrong to him, made it unusable. Due to this, Garrett's hopes were not high as he peered around this shop, or at least they weren't until his eyes fell upon a large hammer lying in the corner. It appeared to be about 5ft in length, with a large rectangular stone head. Walking over he picked it up, swinging it easily a few times before a grin broke out across his face. He had finally found one. He had finally found himself a hammer. Carrying the weapon over one shoulder Garrett walked back outside before turning to Refara, purposefully ignoring Marth, "So, shall we get to looking for the others?"

The woman at first simply kept the half cat half human child aloft in-front of her as she continued her pace. Her violet eyes naturally glanced over to Garrett as she could feel the rolls of hate and angry flow over his body, her gaze then returning to the weird creature as he addressed her. Her steps never slowed and she kept a hurried pace behind Garrett, never straying more then a few feet from him as he walked into town. "I'm not doing anything to you Little Human, except carrying you. What I need you to do is be quiet. I can't concentrate on keeping an eye on Garrett's flank if you keep drawing my attention..." She said in an oddly sharp tone for her, the sternness not sitting well on her normally adorable and smile filled face. This whole town was putting her on edge and she had a weird sense of foreshadowing she couldn't seem to shake. She wasn't sure what it was but she wanted to stay as close as possible to Garrett. It was more then the normal sensation of comfort and ease she would feel around the man, she literally felt that to be more then a foot or so away was dangerous. Which was unusual even for her. And this was even with her Scythe strapped to her back.

"I think it is time you walked for yourself Little Human." She said as she slipped Marth to his feet just before her, crouching down as she did. "Please stay close, but if something dangerous happens I need you to run away. The last thing we need is a repeat of what happened before..." She said all this with a narrowed gaze, arms resting on her knees as she squatted before she slowly came to a stand. It was at that time Garrett returned from a shop with what could literally be called the biggest hammer in the land just half thrown over his shoulder and a big wide grin on his face. Refara blinked momentarily before she giggled and nodded enthusiastically. "You know, that hammer is almost as tall as I am!! If you carry that around on your shoulder's I'm going to start getting jealous.... what's her name, anyway?" Her eyes squeezing up as she clutched both her hands together to rest her chin on them, making a cute face as she did. "I certainly hope Yuki is okay..." She said as her face fell a fraction and she put a finger to her chin with a momentary sad look.

Marth Flames V2.png

Marth was happy to be set down and when he was directed not to stray off, he knew better. That's why he was almost right under her, by her feet almost like a duckling until they stopped momentarily. That's when he saw something move in the shadows. Peering into the darkness he saw a cat chasing a mouse vigorously until it caught it and he let out a sigh. Turning to see the big hammer he squeaked before hiding behind Refara's right leg, peering around it and up at Garett. "Dats wewwy big!" Marth said as he then smiled. "I Bet chu are vewwy stwong mister. Aren't chu?" He asks with curiosity.  A small gust of wind washed over the small child and he shivered in the cold as he was still in his tattered clothes. This allowed the cold to nibble his skin, causing small goosebumps to appear on the small child's skin. "It's cold down hear..." He murmured, shivering yet again.

Upon hearing the red-haired girl's response, Chizuru couldn't help but feel the corners of his mouth threaten to creep into a slight smile. However, this wasn't a smile of amusement rather, it was the kind that appeared whenever he was annoyed or up to no-good. Gently placing his hand on his face, Chizuru released a sigh, as if he weren't simply covering up that impulse of his. Dropping his hand and raising his head, the gray-haired boy walked along towards the gates.

"Perhaps you should listen to your own words. I did say people from Roselea didn't I? If I am a so-called tourist as you said, how could I be speaking of myself, Ms. person from Roselea?" Chizuru said, purposefully placing an emphasis on the last word. Even if he was technically not a tourist as he had been living in Roselea for a few years, that wasn't something that she had to know. It wasn't important, and he didn't want to bother explaining himself. Besides, from the few things that she had just said, Chizuru could tell that the girl was, in fact, obtuse.

Bringing his attention away from his own thoughts and back to the red-haired girl, Chizuru watched apathetically as said girl tripped on seemingly nothing. If this was the person he was depending on for information, he was doomed to get little to nothing. At this point, he was better off asking one of the people from the group that the red head had been following. Looking around, Chizuru's gaze fell on a particular figure. Perhaps that little lady over there would be more helpful. However he couldn't simply just stroll up to a random person and begin asking them random questions.

Cider

Cider was not listening to that woman. His human eyes opened and his mouth was ajar in awe and horror as the black tendons latching onto the monk. Within a matter of seconds the black mass that had emerged from his shadow swallowed him up. The shadow formed into a circle. Within the dark night in the town square, it looked like a bottomless pit, and he did not dare venture. Even the three-horned demon, in his human disguise, was wary of something he knew nothing of. The dark pit grew smaller and smaller in size along the surface of the pavement, until it was no smaller than a dot and disappeard altogether.

"What kind of witchery is this..." he muttered under his breath as he walked towards where the monk had been standing. He would have to ask Gula perhaps, whether it was the demon lord's plan. He turned around, finally realising the woman with her fearful look and the cat hissing. Unlike Gin, he wasn't going to be as much polite. "It would seem that it'd be best to not stay here any longer, for either of us." he said. He thought of whether giving some reason of why he was going to leave alone would be better, but decided that perhaps there was no need. The woman herself didn't seem that keen to be talking to him anyway. He merely gave a small polite bow with no meaning, and turned to leave.

Vodka

As of this moment, Vodka had just left a well that had been dug to channel some of the water from the river near Roselea.  Behind him, there were about three humans who were fighting their way within a home. Someone had been found to have a pantry in the basement. The man who had stumbled upon it was found to have broken into it, initiating a fight between the three. He had merely been observing, with the two hellhounds walking behind him.

He didn't have to turn around to see that one had been ganged up upon, where the two were pounding their fists into the third person. It won't be long before the two remaining ones will be fighting over the remains of the food that was left in that basement. He had seen something similar occur a few days ago, and there was no surprise if these malicious thoughts travelled across to the other parts of the city.

There was a soft growl from the hellhound on the right. The vampire looked over. "What is it?" he asked, as he saw one of the hellhounds of Cider gesturing with the head towards the shops. Were there more people here? It was worth a look, he supposed. With confidence in not being ambushed, he did not hide his footsteps as he approached towards where he heard the sounds, the weapon shop.

Gin

Gin turned when someone spoke to her. In the body of a seven-year-old, she looked up at a rather tall figure, the bottom half hiding within the shadow projected from the building next to both of them. "Oh good evening, mister," she said, while twirling her body around to fully face him. He wasn't using his magic, but she could feel traces of it, and her mouth curled a little into a smile at realising the properties of it. This was a little rare, other than the obvious smell of blood from him.

"Yes, I do live here," she said, finding it a rather odd question as she answered. She wondered how long should she continue playing along the facade of a little girl, given how this old man wasn't cowering away from her. "Are you lost? Or are you looking for something?" Though her question was innocent, perhaps she was hinting at something else entirely, by the way her eye was glinting in the dark.

Peach Crawford V1.png

Peach gulped as she came too. The man, Cider was it? Either way, he was leaving and he had looked a bit weary himself as the monk vanished. "S-sir?" Peach called out in a shaky voice. "Do you know what happened and where that monk went?" She asked. "And why go off o-on your own after that? We have to try and help him r-right...?" The pinkette asked, her body shaking a bit. Mittens was calming down but Peach knew her tail was flicking angrily. Whatever that thing was, Peach had never seen it in her life, much less hear about it.

@Quark

Benton made sure his hood was pulled up so as not to disturb the child, or at least he was fairly certain this was a child. She looked like a child for all intents and purposes, but he couldn't help but feel threatened by this child. Which he found quite odd to feel scared of the child.

Benton knelt down to be the same level of the child, "Yes I'm looking for my companions. They became lost on their way to this city." Benton said very wary of the child. He could easily sense something wrong with the girl.

Ikari slowly pulled herself up from the ground after her most recent fall, watching as the boy approached both the gates and herself before stating a reply towards her accusation, she paused for a moment, mouth slightly open as if she were going to reply but ended up closing it again before re-animating and walking further away from him and more-so towards the small girl who was now staring at them, "What do you want anyway? I suggest moving away from the city, this fog along with its current condition isn't something a 'pretty-boy' such as yourself should get involved in, pervert-blonde-…. guy." She muttered with a slight glare, her insult losing its integrity towards the end, her un-covered eye scanning over the boys appearance once more before she let out a small sigh, the guy looked as though he wouldn't be able to take on a mere child roughly his age, let alone the beasts currently lurking about. "You, small girl, why have you halted in your pursuit of the body-man?…." She inquired a few moments after, having only just noticed the lack of presence from the old man, her hand resting on the hilt of her sword once more.

Erika LeBlanc

Erika's posture jolted when the girl had addressed her, she turned back to the direction that she assumed that Benton must have left in. "I've... never been to Roselea before," she said slowly but loud enough for the three adults to hear. Facing back to both Ikari and Chizuru, she ignored the slight irritation about being called "small", feeling somewhat being patronized. "And... it's really hard to move away from the city right now..." she said once again, referring to the suggestion that the woman had given earlier. "It's really easy to fall into the river .There's no monsters around but the fog is too thick..." She hadn't really gotten a good idea of the whole geography around here, but getting lost in the foot of the mountains with a river didn't sound good.

She fidgeted her hand in her pocket, feeling the hard hilt of her short sword. It felt kind of unsettling that she didn't have her bag or her other short sword with her right now. Hopefully Emi would have it.

Her eyes lighted up again, an idea in mind. She knew where he might go, and also a place where she could get a map. "Hey Miss, Mister" she called, "Would you know which way is to the villa, or property where the royal family stays at?" For anybody who has been in Roselea, they would most likely know about that summer villa.

Gin

Whether there were hints of caution in this man's thoughts or not, it seemed that he was going to be asking for Gin's help. Desperate times calls for one to even ask a child. Or a demon in the disguise of a child in Gin's case. "Oh, that's terrible," she made a mock frown before giving a nod. "I can help you look for them," she waved around her right arm in a chirpier manner. She wondered how long the game of facade would last. "you can call me Gin. What's your name? What about the companions you were travelling with?"

She bent her head a little to look a little behind where the man had came from. There didn't seem to be much sounds from that side. It really did seem he had wandered off quite a bit from whoever these people are.

Cider

Hearing the question from Peach, he shook his head while maintaining his distance. "He is not there," he said, gesturing towards the place where the monk had been previously. "I can't even detect the mana he had." Half of him couldn't even believe what he was saying. It was within myths, but Gula and Gin, the most experienced magic users he knew of, had emphasized very strongly that teleportation rituals was not possible. It didn't even seem to be magic at all, as the shadows didn't even have a trace of presence.

"And because he is not even here," he continued, half of him wondering why he was going to explain to a half-dazed woman. "how do you propose to "help" him when we don't even know where he is?" Finding himself playing a little out of his character as Leonard, he straightened himself up before walking away. As he passed by he spoke once more. "This is out of my expertise, I need to consult my superior. I wish you a good evening, Madam," His shadow was swallowed up by the night as he walked around the corner. He really hoped that Gin would not be far.

@GoldenChari

"Oh you can just call me old man. Been called that so much I have a hard time remembering my name, and it's very nice to meet you Gin." Benton said with a chuckle as he stood back up. "As for my friends I don't really have their names down just yet. We haven't been traveling together long, but I do know their faces so just shout if you see someone." Benton said walking forward and continued to follow the road towards the edge of the town trying to find the others.

Draena Kabria

Location: Roselea

Time: Late afternoon

Activity: Trying to lead his group.

Interaction:@Quark @Mitchs98

Draena was less surprised to see the gate open, people had not been able to import or export from here in quite a while. The city would surely be in shambles. As the trio entered the city, his posture changed. Upon seeing the state it was in he began to relax, the only ones foolish enough to attack them while in this part of the city at least would be simple thieves and bandits. "Don't go too far, they've likely been looted already." Draena suddenly felt something not too far away... something familiar..."Actually, it might not be a bad idea...we could turn one of these into a rendezvous while we figure out what's happening in the city." Draena said, walking towards some of the houses.

Kurio Palmonius

Location: Roselea

Time: Late afternoon

Activity: Panicking, recovering.

Interaction: @Quark @SleepyBuddha @TheHappyPikachu

Kurio had basically succumbed to his delusions, once the scary man grabbed him it only made the voices seem right. He was so lost in his mind that the real world did not matter right now. His screaming stopped, and all that remained was his heightened breathing while he stared off into the distance. He snapped back into reality a short time later, and another figure had joined tho group...or at least stopped it. Having calmed down a fair amount he pushed himself away from Benton and squatted down to a crouching position, something much more comfortable for Kurio than being dragged around by the neck of his clothes. The deranged man remained quiet while the other two interacted with the new person, and Kurio did his best to avoid being added to the conversation. Instead he found a stick on the ground to be much more entertaining, although he still listened in on the talk just in case he needed to fight. He was back in control now, but there was no guarantee how long that would last and he didn't need another episode so soon.

Roselea - Emiyn Devereaux

The three of them had no disagreement. Emiyn saw Draena had began to walk towards one of the houses not too far no the other side of the street. Just by the way the elder man hadn't had tensed shoulders, one could see the confidence that he had. Even in the eerie silence and foreboding atmosphere, he wasn't afraid. "Um, Officer," Emiyn spoke up, still politely. He remembered that Draena had came from Roselea originally. "if you could lead us towards curse mage shop opposite the town hall, that would be ... good. There's a tunnel that would lead to the villa." He didn't speak anymore, since something told him that the military offcer would have already known about the underground tunnels.

He was about one step behind the two men while they walked. Suddenly, he tugged on Haruko's sleeve for a bit, trying to get his attention. "When we do find somewhere quiet..." he said in a low voice. "Can I talk to you about something?" Under the soft light from the street lamps, perhaps only the present Haruko, or the absent Yuki and Erika would have seen that there was something bothering him that he felt the need to confide about it to someone.

@Robertaka123 @Mitchs98

Near Roselea - Erika LeBlanc

Erika couldn't decide whether she liked the girl or not as of yet. She didn't seem like one with wrong intentions, but just didn't know how to talk to her elders, perhaps, judging by the conversation with Benton. While walking, she kept an eye on Kurio, while half dragging him along by the wrist. it felt kind of awkward by the string that Benton had provided, and she was half-paranoid it might snap. She whipped her head when asked a question.

"Me?" she pointed to herself, she frowned a little in confusion. "I don't know what you mean by the bodies thing, but we're travelling to board an airship." she said. She didn't know how safe it was to tell all the details. If the adults felt the need to they could add on to her explanation. "We just got separated from a few others..." she said, looking in the distance again. If there were others that she was worried about, it would be the two who probably were the most easiest to get hurt: Emi and Marth.

@SleepyBuddha @Robertaka123 @TheHappyPikachu

NAPOLEON ADLER

The cold temperate continued to prick at his skin, making every movement almost a little painful. Yet, moving was all he could think to do. Just keep walking. He'd find a way home eventually, right? There was a pause in Napoleon's thoughts. He wasn't so sure, this place..just seemed haunting. Besides, he couldn't think for the life of him how he had even ended up here.

He could remember walking in the fog then waking up to see the gate, but...what had happened before that? It was frustrating. At least it was enough to keep his mind away from his eerie surroundings. Well, until he found himself falling to ground with a thud. Huh.. he must have tripped over something. As any person, Napoleon sat back up and looked at what he had tripped over. A bloody and limp body. It was enough to get Napoleon to half scream and half gasp at it. No,no,no, he didn't want to die here. Whoever had killed that man was sure to be around still. The fear of dying was the cause of Napleon's quick instinct to get up and run away. It wasn't as if he was afraid of the sight of blood - he had to gut fish regularly.

The man stumbled as he ran. To where? He didn't know. To find somewhere to hide seemed like a good idea. Turning the corner of a building, Napoleon pressed his back against the outer wall of the building, sighing as he slid down onto the ground. It was most likely enough to give the impression that Napoleon was a wimp to the three people -  Emiyn,Draena,Haruko - who weren't too far away to witness it.

It was quick, but Napoleon instantly hid his face in his hands when he had spotted them. As if to hide his fear or perhaps in hopes they'd ignore him and keep walking. He really wasn't sure who he could trust, in this strange place.

@Quark @Robertaka123 @Mitchs98

Haruko Kiyama

Haruko looked genuinely curious when Emiyn mentioned hidden tunnels. He had figured there would be for royalty, nobles, and the like but he wasn't exactly sure where they were. Well...he knew of a few only due to his snooping around, but that was beside the point. On a whole Haruko had no clue where the tunnels were, though he'd definitely like to figure out where they were exactly. When Emiyn tugged on his shirt he looked to him, arching a brow in question as he spoke. He smiled reassuringly and nodded at his friend, "Of course you can." He replied. He could tell from his expression and tone of voice that something was wrong and he needed to tell him. Learning to read his friend came easy after a while.

His attention shifted from his friend to the sight of a man running, though from what and why wasn't exactly clear. Haruko narrowed his gaze at the building Napoleon was hiding behind not entirely sure if he should go help or if it was  trap. On one hand it very well could be and there was an ambush on the other side of that building waiting for them; it'd happened to Haruko before, though it was a very bad idea to attack him. Though, that was a small chance. The more prominent option was Napoleon needing their help. After a bit of internal debating he sighed. "We should go check on that guy. He might be injured and need our help, plus he might be able to tell us what happened here." He said. "For reference in-case any of you didn't see it someone ran behind that building just now." He clarified, pointing to the building itself. "What do you say?" He asked, looking between the two of his companions.

Yuki continued to walk in a straight line through the dense and evil fog. She knew she was walking in a straight line, 100 percent sure of it. Yet something in the back of her mind kept telling her that they were getting nowhere. Thinking that it was just her mind playing tricks on her she pushed it off and kept trucking through, wanting to reach Refara and the others as quickly as they could. Everyone could be in danger and Yuki needed to be back at the carrivan to help. But once Senki pointed out that they were going in some sort of loop the guard stopped walking and began to scan the area, searching for any familiar trees or landmarks. "Are you sure about that? This forest is heavily forested, so it would make sense if you kept seeing recurring trees. There isn't much that differentiates one from another." She explained, staring at a tree long and hard before speaking again. "But every now and then I do get the feeling that I'm going in circles... Perhaps it's the fog that's messing with us? That seems like the most logical answer in this situation, but I'm not sure. I'm a thousand percent positive that I'm not turning or looping." Reaching down into her boot Yuki pulled out a small silver dagger and sharply dug the blade into the trunk of a tree, wiggling it a few times to make sure that it was snug in place. "Here, this will tell us if we are going in circles. Keep an eye out for this dagger while we walk. If you do see it, then that means that this is the doing of the fog. If not then we keep walking." Yuki said to Senki, giving the silver haired girl a small smile before continuing to walk in a straight line. She hoped that they wouldn't come across the dagger again, she'd be truly lost then, and on top of that scared.

@Mitchs98

Senki listened to Yuki's response, frowning slightly. Of course she was sure! Tracking and paying attention to ones' surroundings was a very important part of being a monster hunter. Failing to pay attention generally leads to injury or death and thus Senki herself generally paid attention to every little detail; including the placement of trees for navigating dense forests. Sure it wasn't 100%, but when you stare at the same tree you kinda just know, you know? She had to admit though the likelihood of the fog messing with their senses was a very good possibility. It was magical in origin so it was likely that, or at-least it was the best lead outside of her being right. She nodded when she stabbed the dagger into the tree saying it'd help figure out if he was right or not. "Works for me!" She replied cheerfully. "Betcha' I'm right though. One of the best monster hunters in the kingdom, so obviously I got tracking skills." She told her, nodding in a sage-like manner. Nevertheless she continued walking towards the caravan and of course eventually they passed by the dagger-ed tree. "HA! I TOLD YOU!" She shouted, a wide smug grin on her face.

Gin

"Hm... feels a little rude... but if you say so," Gin said with a small nod, in response to how polite and respectful the old man was treating her. Just for a moment when they had passed somewhere with less shadows, she caught the glimpse of cut flesh on his hand. She didn't see it very clearly, but that could wait. There were other ways to get what she wanted. Hearing his story, a smile almost came across her face again. She really should learn to control her emotions at times. As though the last piece of a puzzle had been placed, his explanation alerted a thought in his mind. "Travelling, just now? I'll keep an eye out." she said.

Just at that moment, they could have passed the town hall, which would have been about 30 minutes walk away from where Draena, Haruko, Napoleon and Emiyn were. On the clocktower of the town hall building, there were words painted in red: WicKed, gloomy MomenT. It was as though it was drawn messily by blood. Furthermore it was a mystery how one could ever have climbed up and managed to write such large letters. "So tell me, why were you travelling?" she asked, as though to keep out the silence.

@SleepyBuddha

Emiyn Devereaux

Like always, Haruko would say "yes", not because he was doing it against his will. He wasn't giving an affirmative answer because of the younger boy's status, which was something rare for the third prince. Emiyn would have returned a reassured smile, though the thoughts in his head was still bothering him. However, the peaceful quiet was suddenly cut when there was a yell. The boy almost jumped, and whipped his head towards the direction of where the noise was coming from.

Not too far on the other side of the street, there was another person, a young man with brown hair. His face had terror painted across. For the first few moments Emiyn was just dumbfounded and didn't move until Haruko brought him back to his senses. The younger boy really needed to be more responsive in these troublesome times. "Y-yeah, we should, he looks scared" he gave a nod before taking the initiative to walk towards the man. He didn't know whether he was sane enough to hear his footsteps, since he had his hands covering his face. At the very least, Emiyn made sure to walk in a pace that would give the man a chance to run should he be alarmed.

@Maki

"Name? She doesn't really have a name..." Garrett replied to Refara, thinking for a moment before grinning down at her, "Why don't you give her one?" His face fell slightly with hers as she expressed her hope that her sister was ok, prompting the tall man to give her a quick one-armed hug of support. That said, he wasn't unduly worried, after all, Yuki was highly trained and she could more then take care of herself in a fight. In fact, he was about to say something to that effect when the child Refara had been carrying around spoke up, pointing out the size of the Warhammer the mercenary had just picked up unnecessarily. Garrett gritted his teeth slightly, as he still hadn't even come close to forgiving him, before replying curtly, "Strong enough to crush your skull in one hand if you don't shut up."

Whether or not he'd have carry out this threat would, however, remain unanswered as, at that moment, something else caught his attention. Said things was actually a man making his way towards the group. Now, if it had been just any old man Garrett would have been wary, but otherwise he'd not have cared much. However, this man was no ordinary man, rather, Garrett recognized him as the vampire who had run away after killing the lady on the top of the tower. "Refara, get behind me," he said to his girlfriend, wanting to make sure she was safe, as he began to make his way towards the vampire, hefting the hammer in both hands. Maybe now he could have himself a proper fight.

Benton looked up at the strange message on the clock tower stopping for a moment. Benton took a moment to squint at the message, it looked very strange, but he couldn't figure out why. Benton's thoughts were disrupted when Gin asked him why they were travelling, " Well I'm traveling because the town I lived in was attacked by monsters. Though I'm not sure for certain I'd say that the others were traveling for the same reasons or were hired as protection." Benton said as if making a guess. He wasn't one for giving random people hope for the future especially when he wasn't sure if they could actually do what they thought they could. "Why are you here alone child?"

The Doll-looking Killer heard Garrett ask her for a new name for his new Girlfriend (Who she was only slightly jealous off), and as she tapped a finger onto her chin in thought she felt the weird cat boy snuggle up closer to her leg. To be honest she almost kicked the thing sky high simply because she was busy thinking of a name for his new hammer and thus her attention was drawn. As such the girl yanked her leg back away from him with a half horrified look on her face as she shook it to try and pry him off. With Marth, somewhat not clinging to her now, she felt Garrett's arm snake around her for a moment and leaned in just a fraction to place her head onto his shoulder, knowing he was giving the affection to try and calm her worry for her sister. As he pulled back her eyes peered around the area almost scouting as they normally did, it was just a habit she picked up. Which was funny because Refara was the least observant person in the world, but you can't miss a surprise attack after all and at least it allowed a 360 vision around the Duo.

So despite having her vision everywhere, obviously the vampire approached from Garrett's side so she took a sharp breath inwards in surprise as she half whirled to him. Almost before Garrett had finished the words she slung her hand behind her body and slipped her Scythe from it's holster, spinning it around her right side before clenching her fist and making it stop just before her. She even crouched down a fraction as her eyes narrowed. Refara's eyes flicked down as Garrett's stepped forward, to the weird Little Cat Human beside her. She could tell he was trying to say her name, barely, but it was his next words that sent an angry hiss to come from her red lips. "No one is going to get hurt, this time or any time! I refuse to have a repeat of that situation!" Gritting her teeth as she glanced forward to see a hell hound standing beside the vampire that Garrett was approaching. Without looking to Marth she shot her hand out and pointed to a side alley. "Go behind that Dumpster bin, Now!"

Refara, normally the happy go lucky laughing Death Angle couldn't take much more of this weird feeling in her chest. Her spare hand reaching down to brush the scar over her stomach. She was always so fearless with a complete disregard for her own safety. But she got hurt last time, what if Garrett would be the one to befall that same fate this time? What if that vampire just... the mental image alone seeing his hand thrust through Garry's chest with blood pouring out had her face pale even more. She wouldn't let it! She couldn't! And in a typical Refara fashion she was already running full tilt at Garry before she jumped up and landed onto his back, before pushing her heels into his shoulder and using his body as a vault. She threw herself straight at the vampire with her Scythe a blur around her frame. Aiming to crash tackle him and slice him up in one foul swoop.

One day Refara might learn the value of consequences but today was not that day.

Yuki Illinara

Yuki gave the familiar tree a rather foul look as the two girls passed by it again. Her suspicions were right, the fog had some sort of magical ability that trapped them in this area. She had no idea what to do from here. She had no spells or wards or anything that could cast away such a strange event, and she doubted that Senki knew what to do either. Her red eyes quickly darted over to her girlfriend as she nearly yelled about how she was right. With a roll of her eyes Yuki turned to face the girl with her arms crossed below her chest, her sword hanging from her hand idly. "This isn't a good time to be celebrating Senki. We are lost in a never ending loop, seperated from the rest of our group. Who was right and who was wrong doesn't matter at this moment in time." She said sharply, digging the tip of her foot into the ground and formally turning around. The Guard didn't mean to sound so hostile and mean, but she was just scared for both of the,, as well as the rest of their companions. What if Reffy or Garrett was all alone right now? The two could probably handle themselves, but who knew what could be lurking in the thick fog? She was just lucky to have Senki with her.

Really there was only one thing to do in this situation, and that was to walk a different direction. Un-crossing her arms Yuki began to walk in a different direction, car and fun not to walk in the direction they left or the direction they came. Really there was one main way to walk, and if that didn't work them it'd be much more complicated. "Keep your eyes peeled for anything. Human or monster, keep note of any trees or notable things you see. We must be wary, I can not stress that enough." She muttered as they continued to walk. The only noise that could be heard after that was the slight crackle of leaves and twigs crunching below their feet. Yuki kept an eye out for any sight of civilization, her sword at the ready. Fortunately it only took about 30 minutes for them to make progress. In the distance her eye caught sight of a large, faint tower looming a good 15 minutes or so away. This had to be the exact town that they were traveling to in the first place. Seeing as the fog didn't move them away once again, it was as if they were meant to go here. This fog truly was a strange thing but she'd be glad just to get out of it. "Senki, do you see that? There is a building out there. I believe that the others may have been fortunate enough to wind up there. Shall we investigate together?"

Marth bolted off as told, hiding behind the dumpster as he hugged his knees, covering his ears and head as he screwed his small eyes shut. "I hoap your white miss Re-far-ah!" The child called out as he started to shake in fear.

Her look and command scared him but he knew she cared for him in a way as she had sent him away a little bit. Marth had heard something wizzing in the air as he went behind the dumpster and he was afraid Refera was lying when she said no one would get hurt this time.

Gin

Gin turned up to look at the eerie words above at the Roselea's clock tower as well. Her eyes narrowed a fraction at the words before turning to Benton again. His answer... wasn't really what she was looking for, and she felt that the charade should come to an end. There was no more reason really, when she could be having so much more. MUCH. MORE. FUN.

"Child?" she giggled, this time a little in a more hysterical manner. "Surely by now you would have realised by now... 'old man', that I am much, much more than just a child." She bent low to pick up a broken piece of splintered wood by the side of the road. With the way it had snapped off from the

Well, it was clearer than day now, Gin was no human, but a monster with some form of intelligence. She tilted her head a little expectantly, almost taunting him to react in someway, either to continue talking or even attack. Showing a flawless, petit hand. Under the low night light, one could see that it had no scars, and had the pinkish colour to show that it looked alive. Without hesitation she skewered the sharp end of the wood splinter through the centre of her palm, with the force to have the wood having crushed at where she held it. Dark red seeped onto the wood bits as they clattered onto the floor, but Gin's face only had a much more crueler smile as she held up the palm for Benton to inspect.

Very slowly, the red punctured area was beginning to close. It was the similar to how a healing magic user would have slowly worked with magic to channel mana, slowly but steadiy stitch back the skin over the wound.

What would the old man with body parts stitched together think. In front of him was someone who is able to achieve some form of regeneration or healing that doesn't even cost gems while maintaining such a youthful face.

In the middle of walking within the shadows of the streets, when the demon looked up, as though some telepathic thought had flashed to him. Within his mind, an image was imprinted, the impression of the street near the eastern well. Looking from the height of around a child, he could see the back of Vodka, and beyond was several humans. "They're..." he didn't finish his sentence before gritting his teeth. There was a lone impulsive thought in his mind, but he decided to trust his instincts for the moment when he looked through the eyes of the bloodhound standing behind Vodka.

Back at the street in his outer body, Cider's skin cracked, like it was hardening then falling apart like broken eggshells. There was a shattering sound as the illusion magic he had set up was gone, and he was in the form of his usual self, the three-horned demon. Once back into his demon form, he began to walk briskly towards where the shop had been, to quickly track down Vodka. As of this moment, Roselea had completely become a quiet and desolate city. A fight between that man with the hammer and Vodka could easily cause the unwanted Chaos that Gula spoke of.

Taking out his staff, crafted with Alexandrite magic gem at the very centre, where it glowed. Feeling his feet becoming more bent over, and the nails within his shoes sharer like claws, he looked down to see that his bottom half was now of a wolf. With a different set of legs he began to dash towards where Vodka is.

Vodka

Even though Vodka had excellent eyesight, it wasn't until about taking steps for another 10 meters that he could see not just the silhouette but of the major facial features of the two adults, and the little one. They were a little familiar, but there was only one that the vampire would have remembered. "You consider yourself a distinguishable enemy?" he asked out loud, amused by the look of the man's face as Garrett approached him. If he was asking for one himself, Vodka would not object, he thought as he cracked his knuckles. Veins could almost pop out and the bones joints in the knuckles hardened. Being hit by one was as though feeling the impact of a heavy metal block thrown at oneself.

He stopped, waiting for the other to come, and lifted his right hand. The fingers curled in and out, as though to challenge him to come even closer.

The momentary silence before a battle was suddenly broken by the wailing in the air, and the angry words from a woman. The vampire didn't even have the heart to retort, as there was a blur of white where the woman with snow-coloured hair flew towards him in an impulsive manner. His body shifted towards the left, while his back leaned back, the scythe swiped past his face very closely before his hand shot up to grab onto part of the handle of the weapon. The woman and the scythe combined was lighter than he had thought. With some ease, he would then lift his other arm, elbow aimed straight at Refara's left side.

All he wanted, was for the woman to either quickly jump back herself to avoid his his attack or to take the hit and be sent flying back. Vodka was one who liked to take his enemies one by one, so he could enjoy it for as long as he wanted.

"Cider," the words were murmured as he bent forward, and his body crossed the distance from Garrett. "You going to join the fun?" The speed that he took was fast, purely based not off magic but just by his physical strength. His left wrist twisted and was swung vertically upwards to aim crashing his hardened knuckles towards Garrett's chin.

Benton looked down at the child as whatever it actually was decided to stop playing its little game. After all a lone child wandering around in a city like this was preposterous. Benton knelt down and pulled his hood back so that his stitched together flesh was clearly visible to Gin. With a smile, if not a smirk Benton watched as the wound on Gin's hand closed off. " Oh I figured you were more than a child from the moment I saw you. You may fool my compatriots, but not me. I can sense the darkness within you like the miasma in this city." Benton took Gin's small hand and kept his kind smile. Benton didn't see to be phased by Gin's display. However inwardly he was being consumed by curiosity. This was the first time he had ever been confronted with a being of such power... of such darkness. He wanted nothing more than to dissect this being and see what makes it different from humans.

Chizuru.Banner.jpg

Chizuru didn't bother to hold back a small sigh at the red-haired girl's comment. What's wrong with his face? The emphasis on that particular phrase didn't really make him feel all that great. Especially when he already had a complex about his appearance. There were many who often commented that the color of his hair was like that of an old man's, but something about his face was new. Chizuru pushed that insult to the side despite being quite bothered by it. He was used to brushing off these kinds of things already and there were things of greater importance to attend to at hand.

Now listening attentively to the response of the "little lady," several thoughts began formulating in Chizuru's head. So she's never been in Roselea before? Perhaps the others who had been with her hadn't ever traveled to this city either, meaning that they most likely had some business here and the fog settled in the area nearly at the same time. This fact and the previously known issue with how isolated Roselea had been recently only further reinforced his belief that the fog had been the doing of another. The possibility that the fog had been put into place to achieve something, perhaps even trapping these specific people here, in this town only grew clearer. However, there was a single thing that he found strange about what the girl had said. "There's no monsters around" suggested that she had not had a run-in with whatever that shadowy beast that he had encountered in the fog was. Then again, the monster had not attacked him although he was sure that it had taken notice of him. There was the possibility that the monsters were simply a countermeasure against those who could somehow manage to at least somewhat make their way through the fog.

Chizuru glanced shortly at the red-haired girl and back at the "little lady" when the smaller girl asked to know where the villa was. If it was a villa and property that the royal family stays at, she must be referring to the summer villa. Did this little girl have some sort of connection to the royal court? Regardless, of who she was, the girl had asked a question, and there was no reason for him not to answer. "There's an entrance to a tunnel and pathway leading to the villa just a few ways from here. It's-" Cutting himself off upon the realization that someone who wasn't familiar with the area would be likely to get lost, especially a little girl and a dazed man, Chizuru let out a small "tsk" and shuffled the tip of his boot slightly into the dirt. "I suppose I have enough time right now to accompany you there, especially since that one over there can't seem to even walk properly." The gray-haired man didn't bother to so much as spare a glance at the red-haired girl as he referred back to the event in which she had tripped over virtually nothing. At least now he had an evident reason to follow the group. He wasn't about to reveal that he was actually investigating the cause of the fog and lack of traffic.

Thump, thump, thump.

His heart was racing, and despite how many breaths he took, it didn't help a single bit in calming him down. But, perhaps that was because he wasn't entirely letting himself to. His breathing was frantic and unsteady, instead of that sort of deep and rhythmic pace that would naturally calm a person down. Yet, Napoleon didn't know how to regain a calm composure. It seemed entirely impossibly in the midst of his rambling thoughts of the constant what if? questions.

What if I die? What if don't find a way home? What if I run into some dangerous people?

There was a click as Napoleon tilted his head back, leaning against the hard, cold wall of the building the rose up behind him. He was scared to wander around this place, but a voice kept whispering its opposing thought in his ear. He couldn't deny it though, if he stayed where he was, curled up like a pathetic coward, then he wouldn't get anywhere. Not to found out what this place was, nor to find out how to get home or how he ever ended up here in the first place.

"Alright," the man mumbled to himself, pressing his fingertips against his chest as if that would cease his quick paced breathing, "I can do this." It seemed as if Napoleon was attempting, regardless if it was failing, to build up his courage. "Right. I just need.." Napoleon started, searching his pockets for his so needed items, but he wasn't carrying any. A frown fluttered onto his lips, portraying Napoleon's worry. He must have dropped them somewhere, but he couldn't recall. Perhaps it hadn't noticed where he had dropped them in all his panic. Or perhaps, he'd lost them in the fog he had emerged from earlier. "Well, there goes that idea."

A pause. Then Napoleon rose to his feet, scanning the area around him. Any sign for something he could use as a makeshift weapon would be good enough. He needed to be able to protect himself from any threat. Who knows who or what could be lurking around here, looking for someone to mess with. But, there wasn't anything here. With sort of stiff and slow movements,Napoleon peered around the corner again to check for signs of anyone. Then he spotted that group again, and Napoleon quickly ducked away again. They hadn't walked by yet? He took in a shuddering breath, fearing the worst and that those people were coming for him. Whether for good or bad intentions, Napoleon's anxiety clouding his mind again.

Refara watched almost in slow motion as the Vampire Lord simply leaned back slightly and her Scythe bypassed him cleanly without a single cut or drop of blood. Her eyes widened a fraction in surprise, though that was the only expression that crossed the girl's face. He reached out to grab onto the metal pole of her Scythe, which only made her eyes widen in an even more surprised fashion. After all not many would attempt to catch a twirling pole of cutting death, or if they did they certainly did have wrists afterwards. Not only did he try, but he did catch it and she found her grip on the pole slid upwards to brush against his fingers almost. She noticed straight away he was cold, which made sense considering his "affliction."  Her purple eyes slide up to his face, in time to watch him reef her whole body up leaving the girl dangling and oddly exposed as she refused to let go of her Scythe.

Her eyes darted as she spotted the movements of his elbow coming towards her and she clasped both her hands onto the pole, spreading them wide while he still gripped it and swung her whole body up to dodge his blow, in a similar manner a Gymnastic lifting their legs up to hook onto a pole before she kicked up above her with both feet. She used this fluid motion to gain her small body enough momentum to break free from his grasp along with her precious Scythe and did a spin in the air before landing crouched a few paces behind him. She kept her body low even as she watched the man spring forward towards Garrett, seeing how he would handle the situation first. But now the Vampire had Gary on his front and a very fast and mobile blade killer behind him as well. Refara didn't hold too many high hopes for him, though her gaze did peer to the right at the Bloodhound who was merely standing there watching the entire fight but not intervening. She turned slightly in her position to face more towards the hound, lifting an eyebrow. "Your friend is going to Die if you don't do anything..." She said idly to him before a beautiful, innocent smile crossed her face.
