Overview & Main Roleplay

Oromis

It was unknown to him that he was being followed. Sure, he was hardly sneaking, but in his mind he thought he had escaped notice, and was looking for authority now. Because he believed he was alone, and thought he would be able to spot anyone coming so he could quickly stop, he sang a song in a low, quiet voice.

"Away away, you shall fly away,
Over the peaks and the vales...
To the lands beyond, away you shall fly,
And never return to me..."

That's all he sang before he got within range of others, at least the ones in front of him. He came into sight with his cloak on, his tall burly figure the only thing that could be seen. He had his magic within his grasp for any emergencies...he was ready...

Lance seemed to be considering the best course of action, and although he felt an emptiness that denoted a member of their group wandering off, he figured the Yunakaian king would be well off on his own, especially with Edwin following him. As Lance thought, Augusto woke up, and when it reported the upcoming weather the Bathelonian king had an idea. He swept it away, though, figuring that Oromis was practically doing the scouting for them, and it didn't really matter.

"Well, King Oromis wandered off and has probably blown our cover, so I suppose the best course of action would be to walk in after him." Lance didn't know that the other king hadn't yet revealed himself to his soldiers, or that said soldiers were drunk to stupidity; in fact, he didn't know what was going to happen when they walked in there, and could only hope that Oromis had revealed himself.

When he led the group through the gate of the fort, the first thing he saw was the dark, looming shape of Oromis, who hadn't yet been noticed. The soldiers had been strangely nice to the group as they'd entered, which was something Lance was incredibly grateful for. He'd already asked if they could stay for the night and replenish their supplies after explaining who they were, and while it was unlikely the soldiers understood a single word they nodded amiably and showed them right in.

Lance stared at Oromis for a moment, hoping to catch his attention and let him know he could stop being sneaky, riding his horse over to the stables where he dismounted, took the saddle off, and let the creature rest. He spent some time rewarding it for its hard work by cleaning it, and after he was finished he disappeared into the fort in hopes of finding a place they could all stay while not having to split up too much.

Natha would have discovered two scrolls, written in demon script, and placed them in his bag. He then grabbed a nearby map, but before he could examine them in fuller details, he heard her yell. Before he could react, he was being dragged out, as the keep lit up in uproar. "Wait, sto-" He tried to say, before they ran into the secret passage. Natha kept quiet and followed, but began firing arrow after arrow at their pursuers, taking a good number of them down. Finally, when out of the passage, Natha would pull out a ligthing arrow, and fire it into the passage, causing a big enough explosion that it aided in Maeve's action to seal it. Finally out, Natha would turn towards Maeve.

"What in the nine hell's was that?! We could've found more in there, we had enough strength to take them down!" Natha said, enraged that she chose to flee instead of fight. "Also, why didn't you use the Demon's strength? Even though it's in your body, you were acting like you were mentally suppressing...."Natha would stop for a second, before finally speaking up. "You....you can't control it, can you?"

Chalondra would rub her temple, before speaking up. "Ferris, you know we can't kill him. One, He is the ONLY one who knows how to break the spell binding Alethea. Two, his torture or execution is up to the declaration of the Infernal King. I'm more worried about Mizuki." Chalondra said. Now she had to face the mouth of the dragon itself. "I know you trust her Ferris, she's family, but...It's been years, Ferris. Mizuki likely isn't the same person that we once fought alongside with. If she becomes a threat to our goals....I expect you to do what is necessary, understood?" Chalondra asked Ferris. She needed to know if Ferris could actually do this.

Yaro didn't want to let Prudence go, nor did he want to leave her side, but he knew they had to begin their preparations. "I will ensure our child shall have warm clothing by morning, and that a room will be prepared for him and us. I will also ensure my most trusted guards are around him at any time. I will never allow anything to happen to him, I'll die first." Yaro said, conviction strong in his voice. He would then stand up. "Yes, I'd like to know what is taking the good doctor so long. I would rather know who is here." He said to her.

@Enuky

Mizuki would just flip her hair back, smiling at the doctor. "Oh believe me, Doctor Klaus, I would be more than willing to demonstrate my....talents. However, this location isn't the best...suited environment. Most people are so squeamish about blood and screams, can you believe that? A world where most live by the sword, and they get sick by seeing someone pick at anothers brain, to understand what makes them tick! The hypocrisy!" Mizuki said, shaking her head.

Mizuki would then stare at Klaus for a minute, before smiling. "Yes, I am from the Level of Pride. It is there I learned how to be better than any in my clan, and to exceed my own limits.....Of course, there was opposition, but they're dead now." She said, as if she was talking about afternoon tea. "You look....somewhat familiar. You remind me of a very plain man I once fought. Used a sword instead of a mace, but whenever I am near you, the scar burns more....forgive me, but I love the feeling."She said, with an excited tremor in her voice.

"I KNOW, RIGHT!?" Klaus could not contain his enthusiasm. He pointed up the stairs he just descended. "These two people I co-operate with have committed a great deal of atrocities; murder, rebellion, heresy, and Cuthbert knows what else, yet I try to harvest a brain and they want to puke." Klaus shook his head, remembering how disgusted he felt about hypocrisy that wasn't his own. At least HE was honest about his own hypocrisy.

As Mizuki brought up the plain man with a sword, Klaus was so giddy; he jumped in place, his smile and giggles ever so apparent.

"That's him! My ancestor of centuries before! Klydebern was his name! Through Hell he walked, painting the landscape with the blood of thousands, just looking for a way to leave! Tomorrow I am going to go retrieve that sword! And then..." he paused, trying to remember what exactly he was going to do with Prudence and Yaro. "I guess, uh.. my colleagues desire to dominate this power struggle of a rebellion and kill some nobles? Something to do with Umbra Carcerem? Hope I said it right.. er-" he reasserted his stance, taking a deep breath. "But I could care less what they're doing at that place. All I desire is to see the expressions of fear and rage from what ever demon lurks there." he stepped one step closer to Mizuki, licking his lips. His voice grew low, and his eyes glinted with the glee of sadism.

"The Bane of their Existance has given the future a new Master to Demonkind, and his name is Heinrich Klaus..." it was almost like a seductive whisper.. he then stepped back, twirling once before smiling at the Pride Demon. "Sounds sexy, nyes?"

Ferris growled in irritation but didn't say any more about Natha or killing him. "My sister isn't foolish enough to even try going against our cause. The one condition we made, I'm pretty sure has already been met," the demon replied testily. She didn't look at Chalondra as she spoke, but continued glaring at the wall, more heatedly than before.

"I don't want to kill my sister. If she abandons us for a logical reason, who knows what I'll do. But you can trust me to do something right, I guess. Now, if you'll excuse me, I really need to go and kill someone." Ferris turned and stalked down the hallway. She had no intention of going after the Silver Lord on her own, but some little human would suffice.

Maeve crossed her arms stubbornly. "There were still a lot in the fort, in case you couldn't tell, and they would've overrun us if we hadn't gone. Not to mention the gigantic summoning circle they had ready. Something powerful enough to need that many runes shouldn't be messed with," she argued. When Nathan brought up the topic of being unable to control Kalamitat, Maeve's anger was palpable. She obviously didn't like her weaknesses being pointed out.

"Well, you seem pretty sure of yourself, so I suppose there's no confirmation needed," she snapped.

"We need bring this news to the nobles of Bathelon, Yunakai, and the Roselands as soon as possible," she insisted, changing the subject.

South Yunakai--

King Oromis was looking rather intimidating with his towering height and solid black robes. Ordinarily, such a presence would be enough to quickly alarm an army, but on this particular evening the group found themselves with a bit of good fortune as they reached the massive draw bridge facing the fortress. The rest of the group reached Oromis's side just as the bridge ominously fell, allowing their entry.

Cecile glanced around with uncertainty; she was unsure of where they were being watched from. However, the mood of the evening changed instantaneously upon crossing over into the fort. The group of nobles was greeted with glee, especially Oromis. The drunken soldiers accepted his word as truth with no question, and Oromis was then pulled into the limelight of the evening.

Edwin was pleased to find the fort-- later identified as Fort Witsworth --bustling with apparent festivities. The fort was largely empty, and there didn't appear to be many soldiers there. Perhaps this was related to the fact that most in this area supported the Southern ruler, but it was no matter. There was plenty of rum and food going around, and Edwin was eager to join in on the fun. The soldiers were left in South Yunakai with little to do, no leader, and limited support. It led to a very relaxed fort, to say the least.

He started his way towards a large table, but paused suddenly as he remembered his little burden. That is, Cecile. Agitated, he rolled his eyes and glanced around for someone else to dump the princess on. However, it seemed his first pick-- Lance --was elsewhere. Finally, his eyes shifted down to another option: Aizen. Edwin of course had little respect for a hobbit, and didn't mind bothering him with it at all.

"Hey, watch the princess, and don't let her get into any trouble", she's terribly stupid, after all, he added internally. He then looked to Cecile, who was standing idly by as they made their greetings with these people. "And you. Don't do anything." Without waiting for another word from either of them, Edwin disappeared into the crowd of soldiers and began his own evening of social engagement. He was glad to be surrounded by other men, and would likely avoid his companions for the remainder of the evening.

Cecile blushed and turned to meet Aizen. She wasn't happy with this arrangement, and already had a new objective for the evening: to escape the hobbit's supervision. Meanwhile, Lance was just joining the group. He was no longer accompanied by a small bat on his shoulder; now that it was nighttime Augusto left to fly about outside.

A drunken soldier was laughing among some other men when suddenly one of them grabbed Oromis's by the arm and started pulling him through the crowd. Oromis was bumped into other soldiers and throughout the noisy clamor drinks were spilled about the floor, getting onto Oromis as he passed. The new king was dragged all the way to the top of a table.

"All hail the new king!" the soldier shouted in slurs. He was answered with a slew of cheering and applause as they all recognized their new leader. In their drunkenness, they didn't consider that their behavior could prove troublesome to the new king in their presence.

. . .

Prudence smiled softly to Yaro, a noticeable sweetness present in her eyes for the first time. She was satisfied to know that her Alfio would have the things he needed. "Yes, my love", she said, joining her arm in his as they turned to leave the bathroom and find out what was keeping the doctor Klaus. Neither of them were certain of the direction he'd gone, and so they were left to guess at where he could be. "If you'll excuse me, my king, I have a few things I must attend to", she said and left the king to do her bidding.

With baby in arms, the witch made her way deeper into the Manor and towards her own room. She entered and carefully sat Alfio upon the bed before crossing the room to a large set of dresser drawers. She slid open the a top drawer, and from the inside retrieved her magic wand. It was short and compact, crafted from blackwood, and she examined it for a moment. It had been a long time since the witch needed the aid of a wand, and she hoped she could regain her magical strength quickly. She then stepped back nearer to her baby and slipped the wand into his bundle, concealing it.

As Aizen was ordered to watch the Princess, he calmly nodded his head, and turned to face her. So this was Princess Cecile..? Sorta fit Aizen's mental image for a princess. Rather than say anything, Aizen simply nodded at her. Don't let her get into trouble? Simple enough with his watchful eyes.

Alas, Aizen felt like the both of them would get bored, just standing around. What could he do? He thought about talking about philosophy... politics.. No, he thought. Those are probably too boring, for her.

"Know anything that can pass the time?" he asked Cecile, rubbing the back of his head. "You strike me as a lady who hates to be idle."

Oromis
He was furious upon arrival to see one of his forts in such a condition. This was bull shit, they could be attacked at any time! His rage built, especially as jackasses spilled shit on him,  but he toned it down for a second...for now he didn't need it...yet.

He put on a fake smile as he was dragged up front,  and waited with glee as people begun to quiet down on his accord. "It warms my heart that you all are here,  getting drunk and having a good time. It's just so...great..." Rage built up again, but he ignored it. "Who was the one who decided to get everyone drunk? Hey I get it there's a war going on, and you are all stressed, so let's break into our barrels and have a good time right? I get it...I get it..." He scanned the crowd. "COME NOW! Who's idea was this? Come on up?" A drunken soldier stumbled up, spilling his drink a bit on Oromis. This just made him tick even more. "You had this idea to get everyone drunk? Have you ALWAYS been this guy?" He said with a fake grin. The soldier mumbled something about how he wanted a good time because nobody else was here to say no. He put his arm around the soldier. "No No, it's ok, I want the truth bud" The soldier then talked about a number of times that he had started these drinking parties. That was all he needed to here.

"WELL my fellow citizens of Yunakai, this is what I, your King, think of this drunkness..." He stopped for a minute, and considered what he should do...and did perhaps the first wise thing he had done since being crowned. Though his initial reaction was to kill the guy in front of them all, he knew that they would almost instantly turn on him. In their drunken state, he could probably handle them, but he knew that would be bad...so instead... "I have an idea" He said as he threw the guy over his head backwards. The clatter of a broken table and metal resounded. "WHO here is man enough to challenge me to a drinking contest?!" He roared. "LET'S GO BRING ME A FEW BARRELS OF YOUR HARDEST LIQUOR. LET'S GO!" He stepped down, and threw off his hood. @Enuky

South Yunakai--

The noise level of the banquet hall rose instantly when Oromis was brought to the tabletop. The soldiers were genuinely happy to see their new ruler taking an interest in their activities. The cheering and hollering continued on even after the king of the Yunakai King began to speak.

Edwin was among the crowd when Oromis demanded that whoever planned the party be identified. At first the soldiers seemed to question this, but after more coaxing from Oromis the man of the hour came forward. He climbed atop the table next to the king, and soon mumbled about the accomplishment of his drinking party. Edwin cocked an eyebrow, curious as to why Oromis was being so laid back. Based on his previous behavior, this was unusual to Edwin.

The Emerald Thorn quickly abandoned these thoughts of uncertainty though when he heard the next thing Oromis had to say: a drinking challenge? It seemed Edwin and the rest of the soldier didn't notice the recognized party thrower being tossed painfully backward and to the ground. The thought of such a challenge stole their attention.

Edwin felt a smirk stretch across his lips. Surely he, a high ranking Rose knight, could take a noble. He chuckled to himself as he made his way through the crowd and to where Oromis was still standing. He of course knew nothing of Oromis's background as a knight. About the room the men were making great haste to gather as much liquor as the fort held, and soon the large barrels were being rolled to the very front end of the room. Edwin made it to Oromis and smiled; inwardly he was wamring up to the new king. "King Oromis of the Yunakai, on behalf of the Rose Kingdom, I accept your challenge", he said with a bow.

In the clamor of barrels being hurled around, Cecile looked to see what the chaos was. She had to stand on her tip toes, and still she couldn't see much of what was going on at the front of the room with Oromis. She struggled to see for a moment before losing her patience and facing the hobbit.

"Something to pass the time?" she asked, a hint of annoyance in her voice. Why was this midget bothering her? She wanted to protest about this to Lance, but then another idea came to her.

"Oh yes, I hate to be idle", she said, "but... I think I feel faint", she lied, gesturing for him to follow her to an circular empty table at the far end of the room... by the door. The princess sat down and turned back to Aizen. "won't you find me some water?" she asked. Looking around the rambunctious hall, it was apparent a glass of simple water would be difficult to come by. Cecile hoped this would occupy him long enough...

"Great to have a challenger!" He exchanged a bow back, not quite as low, but still with respect. He himself had partied for the first few months of being crowned, and drank a lot since then. He also prided himself in his physical fitness and health, so he figured this would be no trouble for him at all. Of course he knew his opponent was a knight, and they obviously drank a lot, so he knew this wouldn't be a free win. He considered cheating, but figured he would only do so if it was worth it. In this case, it wasn't, so he sat down at a table and filled a pint size up. "I was thinkin we just take it by the pint, see who drops first?" He held up the glass, and boomed, "May this be the worst conflict between our kingdoms, and the rest be even merrier." He laughed, before draining the glass. He felt the effects in a very weak sense. He had no magical resistance or any poison immunity, but the first pint did very little to him. If things continued in this light, he would win for sure. However he had been sober for over 2 weeks so he didn't remember how long it took him to start getting tipsy. "Not a problem. Your turn." He grinned, fighting the urge to make a face. He never liked the taste of alcohol, but the effects weren't too awful...until the hangover.

@Enuky @DemetrioMachete

With only a quirked eyebrow, Aizen followed Cecile over to the table. Her request for water was one Aizen could understand. She had been travelling for some time, hadn't she? However, after a quick glance around, it was quite clear Aizen was not getting through that crowd. But he still wasn't unprepared.

"Fairly certain they're not serving water tonight." he bluffed to Cecile, reaching below the table. From his hip he pulled his water canteen, which dislodged from his belt with a click. There was a full quart of water sloshing around within it. He handed the canteen to Cecile, proud of himself for remembering that he had it on his person.

"No one's drank from this yet, if germs bother you."  he didn't know nobls life all that well.. so he made the assumption that the whole lot of them were germophobes. With a deep breath, Aizen pulled his hood back, exposing his curly black hair and mundane eyes. These eyes met Cecile's form, with a simplistic, vaguely curious stare, not unlike a Golem seeing its creator for the first time.

Lance had returned from finding the group a room and cleaning himself up--dressed in a spare tunic and pants and walking barefoot, finding it much more comfortable than the shoes he'd been wearing--to the raucous noise of the dining hall, just in time to see Oromis challenge his soldiers to a drinking contest. Scowling in irritation, the expression deepened as Edwin accepted the offer. Great, the Emerald Knight was gonna go make himself even more detestable. Not to mention what alcohol did to men in the presence of women, especially if said man already had.. problems.

Lance quietly discovered he would have no problem tearing the man's throat out if he tried to touch Cecile without the princess's consent. Of course, judging from what Edwin had once told him..

By then the Bathelon king was radiating an aura so infuriated and dangerous that several drunken soldiers found themselves subconsciously edging away from him. As he turned away from the party to leave and caught sight of Cecile, he seemed to calm somewhat, and he made his way over the princess, trying to seem less angry and more bored to death.

"You don't mind if I sit here and ride out the idiocy with you two, do you?" he asked, stopping at the edge of the table politely.

South Yunakai--

Edwin was quick to snatch up a pint sized glass and begin slurping the hot liquid down once it was his turn. He was well cultured to alcohol, which was no surprise considering the highland culture of the Rose Kingdom. The taste didn't bother him at all, in fact, he liked it. This was probably his first time getting to make him self drunk stupid while on an important mission. He shrugged his shoulders; he tended to have a high tolerance anyway. Pushing through the coming morning on a hangover wouldn't be too difficult for Edwin, he thought.

"Aye, your highness. May this be the beginning of a powerful alliance", he said. Edwin had to admit that he liked the king, but perhaps it was the effects of the alcohol. He was glad to finally be around another man, he thought; he didn't quite like the company of the "dry" King Lance. He glanced around in search of the king who he knew would never have ever participated in a competition such as this. A friendly competition, Edwin reminded himself.

About the table the other soldiers had begun filling glasses for them, and already dozens of pre-filled glasses were scattered about. Edwin reached for a second glass, "so tell me, King Oromis, what is your plan for stomping out the resistance?" A group of men cheered, all eager to hear the king's wisdom.

Cecile frowned when Aizen wasn't willing to desert the table in search of water for her. That was the point, she thought sarcastically to herself when Aizen pointed out that there would likely be no water there. She had hoped the troll wouldn't consider this, and, eager to please the princess, would search without question. Instead, it turned out that Aizen was already well prepared for the issue of thirst. He lifted his robe somewhat and revealed a good sized canteen to the girl which he then retrieved and handed out to her.

"Thanks...", Cecile said, her voice somewhat of a disappointed mumble.

The Rose princess looked over the canteen before taking it and sipping at it. If she could get his eyes off her for just thirty seconds..., Cecile thought, but her hope for this quickly dissipated when she noticed the sweet stare Aizen, who had revealed his face, was giving her. Although it made her uncomfortable, Cecile wasn't surprised. She figured the hobbit had never been this close to a princess, let alone told to watch after his own kingdom's princess. She blushed slightly and looked around, once again searching for anything that could create a distraction for her.

It was then that Lance joined them, and Cecile turned to him before leaning forward and resting her head on her arms. It was easy to see her boredom. "I would rather find something else to do", Cecile quipped. After all, watching a group of drunken men wasn't exactly Cecile's idea of "fun".

Aizen felt somewhat relieved as Lance arrived. He didn't particularly recognize him all that well, but judging by his choice of clothing, his dialect, even the posture of his stride, Aizen could deduce he was a noble of some kind, like Cecile. Himself.. Aizen was a street rat that taught himself to steal and kill. Yet here he was, mingling with aristocracy. Never did he think that would be possible.

"Go right ahead, sir." Aizen responded to Lance, taking a deep breath and rubbing his eyes for about 4 seconds.

"Mmnh, loud and annoying in here.."  he grumbled, taking a quick look around. He spotted the exit, and then turned back to Lance and Cecile, quickly looking around to make sure no one was eavesdropping before he spoke to the two of them.

"You two wanna just.. head outside for a spell? Nightly cold air, peace and quiet.. surely beats being in here with a storm of alcohol, yes?" Aizen wanted to be here about as much as the other two did.. hopefully they wouldn't mind a suggestion made by a shady hobbit "peasant".

"Oh yes, this will be a brilliant future for both our nations. I mean hey, you have all these Kings around here but sometimes you gotta cut lose. And when I say cut loose-" He took a longer time to drain this second pint. "I mean" He paused again to pour another pint down. It took a while, but he got it down. The burning sensation wasn't much, but this time he grimaced at the taste and the sudden smack of the drink. He pounded his fist on the table, making fiery sparks fly from his lack of control. He could feel the effects creeping onto him. "COME ON NOW! THIS IS NOTHIN! HAHAHAHA!" He roared, and whipped his arm forward to shatter the glasses on the table. "LET'S GO! THIS IS A MAN'S SPORT HERE!" He was beginning to like this knight.  He kept an eye on the crowd to see people coming and leaving but other then that he cared little.

Chalondra just clicked her teeth at Ferris's response. Unlike her brother, who did his best to save everyone, Chalondra always looked at the bigger picture. If she had to, she would slit the throat of every demon left in the Ishikawa clan to ensure the Demons ruled earth, Ferris included. She may care for them, but Chalondra would always put her own clan first and foremost. That issue, however, would have to wait. Chalondra would just walk through the fortified keep, keeping her eyes out for any signs of any important people, before at last arriving to a room with Prudence in it.

Now, Yaro may not be fully aware of what she was thanks to that armor, but Chalondra knew Prudence would likely be familiar. However, she was going to capitalize on that, instead of hide it. Closing and locking the door behind her, she'd walk towards Prudence, a smile on her face. "Well well well....Prudence Welder, feared rebel leader AND loving mother? Most would never suspect. "She said, her glass shard-like eyes glinting in the light. "I believe it's time we had a small....chat."

Mizuki felt her heart thrum as he grew closer. The burning sensation on her scar grew more, and she felt every essence of her being demanding her to step away....she loved it. Some would see Mizuki as a masochist for it, but it was mainly the pride-heritage in her blood that made her stay. She would place a hand on Klaus's face, tracing her thumb over his forced smile. "Ah ah ah....Don't tease me like that, good doctor.....otherwise I may take advantage of you..." She said, before stepping away. "I may need a....appointment sometime, to make sure I am in perfect health.....I am sure a doctor like you can provide a thorough examination?"She said, before stepping out.

After a bit of walking, she'd walk into Ferris. Quickly tucking a strand of hair behind her head, she'd look concerned at Ferris's expression. "Sister? What is wrong? Are you ill?" She said, already going through remedies in her head, that she could think of that might help.

Instead of showing a mocking, teasing, or aggravated tone, Natha would look....almost happy. He would have a sad smile on his face, as he followed after her, speaking. "Able to resist this long, without fully giving into the demonic taint.....I take back what I said: You're no coward. You're a lot stronger than I am." Natha said, which was shocking, coming from a person that stood against the demon army and lived. He would, however, change expressions, to that of determination.

"But that's something that can be a liability: You need to learn to control the powers your demon has, or one day he'll overwhelm you and you won't know what happened. Our enemies will not pull their punches, and we should not expect mercy. Therefor, we should not give it in return. The good thing is...."Natha would hold up his hand, as a deep red fire would emit from his hand. It was hell-fire. "I can teach you how to control it, to a small extent.....I have demon blood in me, so I know how to use the taint to fight against my enemies....I can show you how, if you want to know. "He said. He was telling her because, in the end, it was her choice if she wanted to do it or not. He couldn't force her too.

Lanister would watch as Cecile tried to manuever away from the main group, sighing to himself. He would then look towards Aizen, and whisper to him. "Thank you. Follow my lead" He would whisper, before looking towards Lance and Cecile. "Lord Lance, Princess Cecile likely would like a minute or two by herself. I have to step away with Aizen, and discuss matters with him. I am sure we can trust Cecile by herself for a short time. Aizen is right, some fresh air would do her well. "Lanister said. He signaled for Aizen to follow him. However, unbeknownst to them, Lanister planned for the two to remain in the shadows, and keep an eye on them. It was better that way, as it allowed them to eavesdrop on conversations, thus increasing the information they had.

You were only as dangerous as what you know.

Lanister would then look towards Aizen, and whisper. "Word is, is that Yaro has been fortifying the cities since he conquered the south.....Guards, checkpoints, curfews.....Sad this is, is that it makes the people feel safe, compared to being attacked from the inside. Since many of our brothers and sisters decided to support him, they feel he is trying to make peace with the Rose Kingdom, which is seen as an act of compassion towards the widower of his old enemy....Quite ingenious, I must admit. "Lanister said, running a hand through his hair. "Yaro has done good by this kingdom.....I don't want to take away a progressive leader. I know our orders state that we must convince him to step down, but do you think we can convince him to make peace with Oromis?" Lanister asked, looking at Oromis.

"He seems like someone that cares more for his creature comforts than a kingdom....Though I cannot deny he is a charismatic leader and a good military commander, albeit a ruthless one. "He said to Aizen. He knew he was being quiet enough so that only Aizen would hear. "Another thing I am worried about is what will happen if Yaro wins, or these two convene peace....No doubt, Thornton will want his execution, and that is not likely to happen. Yaro holds the peoples support. If that happens, Yunakai will cry out for war with the Rose Kingdom.....Blood begets blood." Lanister said, theorizing and estimating, trying to find the best possible solution.

Klaus' very innards tingled as Mizuki slid her hand across him. His adherence to his Clerical duties made the warmth and bodies of others a low priority, but something about this woman that plucked at the doctor's emotion. Before she left, Heinrich embraced her, pressing her body to his as his gaze pierced hers.

"One day, we shall see such a thing through." he whispered to her, pulling away with a dark, low chuckle. As she stepped out, Klaus took this as her taking leave. He had no hat to tip at her this moment, and so he simply nodded, heading back upstairs. As he reached the first hall, he scratched his head.

"Er wait.." he said to himself. "Where do I go?" he didn't know this mansion very well. Aimlessly, did he wander, until he came across Prudence's room. He tried to open the door but found it to be locked. A sigh of frustration hit the doctor, as he knocked thrice upon the locked door.

"Hello? Prudence? Yaro? I think I should tell you about our visitor! Are you wrapped up in mommy/daddy affairs?" he called out.. If he received no answer, he'd more than likely use a spell to get past the door.

. . .

Aizen's posture straightened a bit as Lanister arrived on scene. Upon being signalled to follow, Aizen obliged, following Lanister to his more secluded location. This must have been important.

Indeed it was.. discussing the matter of Yaro and his new chunk of kingdom. As Lanister brought up the possibility of making peace, Aizen paused briefly, but shook his head.

"What of Yaro's two allies, sir? The witch and the doctor? We were there, with them in Valpurina. I can tell from a glance they're both malevolent forces.. their influence may cause Yaro to do something foolish and crazy."
This was a tough situation to discuss. A single wrong move could jeopardize everything, Aizen thought.

"Just my two silver.. we may have to spill a lot of blood before peace comes, but we should perhaps ensure the blood of the doctor and the witch are pooled in with it. Without them in his presence, Yaro may wisen up.."

Lance gazed at Lanister as he rose from the seat he'd just taken, as if trying to unearth the reason for his suggestion, but bid a silent farewell to Cecile with nod of his head. He supposed he could go release the tension that had built with the noisy crowd by running wild, but the chance of loosing control and using the precious Wolfsbane potion for no reason didn't appeal to him. The king settled for stargazing at the top of one of the watchtowers.

The weather may have been hot and muggy, but the night sky was what Lance was focusing on when memories of then cropped up. Two incredibly unfortunate events, so close together, one the revealing of and the other the result of his.. condition. His neutral expression dropped into a scowl yet again and he tried to banish these thoughts.

How long ago had it been? A year now? The thought that the anniversary of such a thing was even close made his throat tighten. With a low, imperceptible growl, the king rose to his feet and decided that maybe a night without thinking would be wonderful indeed.

Anyone sober in the fort might remark upon the unusual proximity of wolves that night.

When Mizuki found her sister, the Ishikawa demon had just returned from taking out a coven of savage vampires. Ferris hadn't yet cleaned the blood off of herself or her sword. She walked as if the dagger still embedded in her side didn't exist.

"I'm perfectly fine, Mizuki." The scent in the air bothered her, immensely so when she discovered it's source. She paused, glaring down at her sister.

"I don't approve of that doctor, Mizuki. Do well to remember that he may quickly find himself on my hit list," she warned coolly. She seemed distant, probably mulling over Chalondra's distrust and angry that she couldn't take revenge on the one being she hated the most, although it was unlikely Mizuki knew the former.

"I'm going to wash up," Ferris added, leaving her sister to go to her own room.

"Don't try to explain away your pity!" Maybe snapped as they walked. She only made it about ten feet before Natha made his offer, and right then and there Maeve collapsed, hands clamped over her ears as Kalamitat screeched in fear. Maeve felt crowded in her own head, and before long was curled in on herself feeling like she couldn't even breathe as Kalamitat's panic took a toll on her physical and mental state. Hopefully this would prompt Natha to withdraw his offer, or at least extinguish the hellfire.

Prudence was standing with her back turned to the door when Chalondra entered. She was leaned over the top of the bed looking down at Alfio, who was awake and beginning to utter small cries. Prudence kept her face close to him and was distorting her face into funny expressions for him. It was completely unnatural to the witch, but it was an attempt at entertaining him. It didn't seem to help as his crying persisted, but then she heard the soft sound of the door clicking locked from behind. This caused Prudence to snatch up Alfio and bring him close before turning to face the unexpected guest.

It was Chalondra. Prudence glanced to the locked doorknob and raised an eyebrow to the female, unsure of what she could want with her. She couldn't help but feel distrusting of her. The witch didn't put Alfio down again.

"Oh really? And what might that be?" She asked her, and no sooner than she did was there a funny knock at the door. Klaus began to speak through it, and Prudence crossed the door to open it. She was inwardly relieved by the presence of someone she more trusted. After opening the door she turned back to Chalondra and added, "go on".

From the table Edwin was awaiting the king's response, but he soon forgot about the political matters at hand just as the king did. He leaned forward to better listen as the king fumbled his words, but then the king suddenly pounded a fist on the table and sparks flew. This was when Edwin'a thoughts shifted. Or, more accurately, began to wobble. The effects of the alcohol were taking over him as well.

"AYE!" Edwin shouted in response, his highland accent was even more profound while intoxicated. He reached for another pint and started chugging. About the table the other knights were scattering to make more glasses after Oromis shattered many of them with a swipe of his arm. In only a matter of seconds, the table was freshly stocked with another few dozen pints of liquor.

Cecile perked up in interest when Lanister strode by their table and granted her freedom. She watched on as Lanister pulled Aizen aside and Lance made his way towards the exit. The princess herself had other ideas. Without supervision, she decided she would rather be causing trouble with the drunken king. She hopped up from the table and made her way through the crowd of noisy, drunken men, having to push her way through it. When at last she made it to where the king and knight were having their competition, Cecile took a seat next to the king.

"So which one of you boys is a real man?" she asked, running her soft fingers over Oromis's arm. She flashed a sweet smile to the king.

Edwin was hit with a spell of jealousy seeing the princess flirt with the king. "but it is I, your majesty!" insisted the knight as he began downing more liquor, more desperate than ever to win the competition.

Outside the air was unbearably humid, and there was a light drizzle in the air and occasional flashes of lightning. After Lance climbed up the tower to watch the stars the bat familiar joined him. He crashed into the ground right next to Lance; he missed Lance's chest. The little bat grumbled and shifted to ease the pain of the fall.

When at last the bat was comfortable again he hopped onto Lance.

"is something bothering you, admiral?" asked the bat. He was damp from the drizzle.

He was drunk, and normally world have shrugged off the princess' touch. This time he did nothing, in fact he didn't even react to it. "Listen boyyouthink I'MJUSTA piece of shit foolking..." He was slurring now, shaking a bit as he was slow to finish off the fourth pint. "Imnotthough! LIKE YOU TRY leadinganarmy andallthis like...." He shook himself, eyes dialated a bit. He roared into the air, fire shooting into the sky, as he lost control of the magic. "YOUTRY INHERITING A THRONE FROM A PIECE OF SHIT RULER AND EVERYONEEXPECTS YOU TOJUSTCRUSHAREBEL AND MAKE EVERYTHING THAT HASEVERGONEWRONGRIGHT! He stopped yelling to drain another pint with renewed vigor. "YOU don't know crap about manhood! Just go around drinking and playing with your sword... MYFATHER TRIED TEACHINGME SWORDPLAY... HE THREW THE SWORD AT ME WHEN hegotdrunk" he trailed off a bit, as if he was lost in the memory, then shook himself again, and got to work on another pint. "BoyIcan'tlose! Can'tlose!" His mental state was getting worse and worse now, but he had stopped caring. He was about to enter the "Blackout" phase-when his mind shut off but apparently his body and unconciousness kept going. @Enuky

When Cecile noticed the king paying her no attention she quickly lost interest. Ordinarily, men were drawn to her especially when drunk. She decided this must have been true evidence that King Oromis was a jerk. Instead, Cecile focused her attention on someone she believed would be a much easier person to sway: Edwin. Cecile joined her knight's side staring up at him with wide eyes.

Edwin hiccuped and fumbled out an embarrassed apology. His heart was racing over Cecile; he could feel her body heat next to him.  Oh, how he longed to have her. She was a troublemaker, but under his leadership, he could straighten her out, he thought.

"You wouldn't let your kingdom down, would you, Edwin?" Cecile asked, pulling his thoughts away from her and back to the drinking competition at hand.

He hiccuped again, "I'll never lose!" he declared, grabbing a pint and chugging. Cecile couldn't help but giggle, seeing how wasted he would make himself. Tomorrow, Edwin would be back to his usual ass self.

"I WON'T LOSE", repeated Edwin, reaching for another. He had a new found confidence. He looked over at Oromis with narrowed eyes, eager to defeat the king. "I'll show you how to sword play too", he touted under his breath.

He of course didn't bat an eye that she had moved, if he had even realized. He lifted another pint up...then suddenly something switched on. He didn't know why, perhaps looking at the faces of the soldiers, or the time of night, but for whatever reason, he had a few seconds of clarity. He shook himself, and dropped the pint. "Well done" He growled in a normal voice. He stood up, and shakily stumbled away. His mind got more and more clouded, until he couldn't remember why he was walking outside, or where he had just come from. The effects of the drinking were strong now, and he made his way towards the exit of the fort. Lightning danced around his fingers-for he no longer had control of his magic. "Letmepass" he slurred as he stumbled outside, and onto some rock where he sat, and fumbled with his waterskin to get some liquid into his system. He spilled a good half of it before finally having a small drink, then shoving it back into his bags.

He began to 'sing':

" When light fromthe lostland shall return,
Six Sleepersshallride, six Signsshallburn,
And where themidsummer treegrows tall....." Slight hesitation as he forgot the words...
"By Pendragon’s sword theDarkshallfall."

He did this before hugging himself, shaking and shivering. He couldn't control his thoughts...he began remembering things from the past...but they were clouded and twisted...he sat there shivering for a while, not knowing what was going on around him.

The ground trembled lightly. There was a tremor, as though a giant had just taken a step. Then there was another. And another. The tremors grew stronger, and the stomps louder. It felt like a small earthquake every second.

Out of the darkness, it emerged. A massive, bulging hunk of rocks given life towered over Oromid. It looked as though it were made of loose, old gray boulders, but was held together by a steady stream of magic. The "head" of the mass had a singular, glowing blue eye. It looked down, spotting the king. It was silent for a time, it crackled and slid with motion. The silence was broken with a loud bellow, reminiscent of a ship's fog horn. As it bellowed, it raised an arm of boulders, swinging downward in an attempt to crush Oromis!

. . .

From where he was, Aizen could hear the bellowing. It broke his attention from Lanister as he peered back at the fort. The hell was that noise..?

It took him a bit to even realize the thing coming at him was real....by this time, it was right in front of him. His movements were slow and clumsy,  so he used the only controlled energy he could muster, and used it as a propellant to shoot him back,  just barley out of the giant's hit. Now he was furious...now he just wanted to fuck someone up. He roared, and in one strike, sent all his energy into a compressed blast of fire, ice, and Lightning. He couldn't control it, so the magic was only stopped when he could physically give no more else he'd die. He stumbled back towards the fort,  but had little to no energy, as well as clumsy movement and clouded thoughts-so clouded, his life never flashed before his eyes. @DemetrioMachete

"A lot of things are bothering me," he muttered, not looking at Augusto. It made it all seem a bit less ridiculous if he envisioned he was talking to a person and not a bat. He didn't exactly mean to discriminate against the small mammal's uniqueness, but talking to an animal wasn't quite something he was used to and it made him slightly uncomfortable. Not to mention, even if Augusto was Katha's familiar, he didn't exactly want to spill all his secrets and regrets to him.

A sudden roar had Lance leaping to his feet from where he sat, whirling to peer down at the land around the tower, seeing a looming shape that was probably the drunk Oromis--Lance could smell the alcohol from here--and something much larger. Frowning and grateful he'd kept his sword on him, the Bathelonian king was taking a reckless route down the tower, onto the fort wall, and down it too before he could even realize he was moving. Instincts took over and Lance came to stand, sword drawn, staring up at the golem that had spontaneously attacked Oromis. Adrenaline pumped through his veins and it was only the knowledge of the half-conscious man nearby being in danger that helped him keep his more wolfish side from rushing to the forefront. Hopefully the giant would take its focus off of Oromis long enough for the other man to scramble back to the fort, if he was still physically capable.
