Aimi stared curiously as the smoke soon became a monkey. ‘Summoning,’ they called it. Something the strange bird bard would try on his own. She calmly walk backwards a few steps to join Aiko, addressing her for the first time in a while. "Is this ‘summoning ritual’ common in this world…?" she murmured, too quiet to hear for any but Aiko and the auditorily-gifted.
After Kevin’s mostly expected reaction, Aimi specified, "It means to… move them into a place where you have an advantage. Thankfully, these cliffs should prove useful. I’ll simply fire down at them from the top, and our close-range fighters can cut off any gentle slopes that could allow them to approach."
Wandering off, Aimi eventually took her position on a nearby cliff, lifting the glass cannon and carefully aiming the barrel towards something. Orcs and ogres were often very similar in fiction, so it was hard to place which was which at such a large distance. Once everyone seemed to be in position, and reasonably ready, she fired.
…sorta.
The shot was loud, but the large glass marble barely left the cannon, instead dropping straight down like she’d accidentally shoved an especially shiny rock off the edge.
"Hm. That’s considerably less range than expected. There appears to be some sort of error with the device…"
