OOC [Through the Years of Strife]

Would it be okay to post my character here, just so others can let me know if I've done anything wrong? I'm just dreading it having some gaping flaw.

We'd be happy to tear it apart in the Character Sheets forum just fine :P

Meanwhile, what character types are people thinking of? Does anyone want to do the whole Lunar/Solar bond thing?

Personally, I'm going to be playing a Lunar. I like them. It's most likely going to be a Changing Moon (everyone does combat, and No Moons get it sideways up the ass for about 200 XP). Not a guarantee, though.

IS, will we be using the Peter Schaefer Lunar CG rules? They're rather popular, and it's good to know before I get started. Find them here: Peter Schaefer's original intent for Lunars.

Well, i've written up a solar merchant kind of character. I PM'd it to Idyllic but i think i'll post it into the character forums as well.

Ah, here we go...

Text in bold was not present in my PM to IdyllicSilence. (It felt unnecessary to spam him with relatively minor updates  )

--Removed as per IdyllicSilence's request--

How likely will it be that we get near Wyld locations?

And on top of that, how possible would it be to get a manse that has a chunk of the Middlemarches in it? It's a 4 point power to get one that negates a few of the laws of reality in a manse, I was thinking maybe 6 or 7 points?

I probably should have posted this morning in response to TDO's post, but I would prefer if you do not post your characters to this forum, but rather send me them by PM. It keeps everything fair, and just makes everything easier for me.

Brick-Yeah, lets go with with the Schaefer rules.

Loch, I don't think the Wyld will play a major role-there might be one or two Wyld Zones here and there, and maybe a trip into the Wyld itself if the players and the story deem it necessary. As for the manse, I think I'll need to check out the rules on both manses and the Wyld, but at this point, go with a tentative 'no'

Bah, there goes my ubercrafter, shaping things directly from the Wyld and into raw and finished goods, bankrupting the Guild while using the proceeds to further his own studies to reinvent magitech and genesis.

Back to the drawing board.

Good concept, I mean, very good concept, but I'm not quite sure how it would work out, balancewise. Having a piece of the Wyld in your home...as I said, I'll really have to take a look at it.

Heh. I'm willing to burn as many creation points as needed, but if you say no, you say no.

Waiting on yes/no for manse, and then I've got my character mostly mapped out.

--Edit

Also, as an argument in my favor, once the game gets going, it will probably be harder and harder to get back to the manse to do any Wyld Shaping.

I'm going to have to go with a definite no, now, for many reasons, but mainly because it would inject too many difficulties for me to deal with, and, especially with all of the power inherent in the Wyld, it would be an incredibly unbalancing force if used improperly.

Alright, that works.

I'll go rewrite some of my character sheet then, before I submit it to you.

I've posted a character concept to the GM's PM box, but thought I'd give a quick gist here for potential relationships before the game started. I mean, assuming I get selected and so do you.

I'm going for a Zenith Caste with a focus in Archery, Survival, War and Performance. A hunter with dreams of ruling a nation after watching his own hometown collapse. I suppose since we're doing Solars and Lunars, I should note that he has a preference towards birds, and potentially a familiar of one.

Well, it's not fully submitted yet, but my character is a Changing Moon with a scorpion totem. He's good at manipulating people, but also great with cooperation and teamwork. He gets what he wants, but will assist people who he thinks can help him in the future, and will generally avoid doing anything more cruel than really necessary, though he has no fear of going as far as IS necessary.

Also has some skill in thievery, for what it's worth.

Mine is also not submitted, but I am planning on a wandering martial artist who also paints and/or writes.

Right now it's a three-way tie between Eclipse, Zenith, and Dawn...though I think I'm leaning toward Eclipse for the 'wandering' flavor.

As for the name...I think I finally have one, as I write this.

"Kantan"

My character is (as someone might have had time to glean from the sheet  ) is an Eclipse merchant.

Mostly social-combat focused, main tactic of OBEY! (Okay, maybe not that true mechanically, but soo very much rp-wise :D )

She is focused mainly in presence, investigation, archery and bureaucracy. Motivation is to become the awesomest trade baroness ever. She's honest, though. Might become a problem, that  .

Her name is Iron Voice of Reason. I'm proud of that name. I think it's awesome 8)

Heh, speaking of painting...which craft would that be?

It's mentioned in the main book under the crafting rules (mentioning that no matter how amazing the painting, brushes and paint are still only resources 1), but I'm not 100% sure which crafting discipline it is. I would assume Craft:Air, since it's delicate work.

Anyone (especially the GM obviously) have any thoughts on that?

Ack. I had a Lunar built but I assumed standard char gen rules. I'll have to edit him to fit the Schaefer rules...

Which I don't know.

To Google!

Yes, its Craft(Air)
Thank you for the ruling; I was pretty sure it was, but I figured I would ask before it came up in game. ^^

I wanted to poke the forum and see if people were still around. I'm working on my background extra bits (finding a picture, writing a fiction, and answering the 20 questions game.)

If anyone else is from the East (I'm thinking closer to the Southern end of the Hundred Kingdoms), please let me know if you would have liked to have run in to me. I can send you some background information.

Anyhow, I'll be gone this weekend, starting Thursday night, so I hope to get at least some of this finished by then. ^^

I'm in the east and open to editing my background a bit...then again depending on your backstory I may well have met you just about anywhere in creation. Then again....I don't know if my character will be accepted or not...
