[OOC Thread] Prinnies Breakroom [Disgaea]

Languages: Celestial, demon, human, zombi (brains....).

Spell levels: requirement will be sligtly lessened.

Perhaps...spells are often the same, just modified by what level you're using? Like, you have a Fire Spell or whatever - you just need to have purchased Fire, and then you have access to every level of Fire Spell that you have the Level charms for?

I've never played Disgaea, only watched a Lets Play, so no clue how close that is to source material, but this would be a decent XP-saver.

(Can we suggest system hacks? Jon Chung's XP Saving Utility makes so much sense to me it hurts, and if we're all Solars or Solar-level, it functions well, too.)

Would you be willing to allow us to a -modified- Violet Bier of Sorrows style? It's by Jon Chung.
cdi reflexively fluffs his sparkly pink hair at the invocation of Jon Chung. :P

For spells, I think it should work like this.

Buy the tier, like mega, giga, etc.

Buy the spell. Now you have access to the spell on all tiers you have.

If I'm reading Laundreu's post right, same idea as his.

Err sure. Just remember, your ennemies can opotentially have anything you have.

For spells, Hammerco has the right idea.

I'm going to go with a demon that uses a grand goremaul and Earth Dragon style. Upholds order and justice in the Netherworld. Of course, what constitutes order and justice is a bit skewed.

http://www.thefreedomstone.com/phpBB3/v ... f=6&t=7522 This is the system hack I mentioned:

I posted this hack on the rpg.net forums earlier this month, this is a cleaned up version of that first draft. The idea behind this hack is that things that are necessary should not cost limited character resources to acquire as a tax, and that things that are boring and serve as prerequisites should follow the same principles. Using this hack will raise the starting competency of all Exalted (compared to mortals) by a non-trivial amount, but relative power balance between Exalted splats should remain identical, as the benefit is equally shared among all playable Exalted types.

The Combo hack is implemented to remove the reflexive defenses XP tax imposed on every Celestial Combo. Depending on the Exalt type, this surcharge may easily be non-negligible, discouraging the construction of Combos until the desired defenses have been purchased, and discouraging the construction of multiple different Combos due to the fact that each Combo should ideally contain the character's defensive Charm array.

The Excellencies/General Charms hack is to give characters wider ability to use Essence at character creation, and ensure that most character experience directed at purchasing magical abilities goes towards purchasing interesting things rather than dice-adder Charms, which are simultaneously the bedrock of Exalted superhuman capability and the most boring part of it.

The Ox-Body hack is to give characters more durability without requiring investment into Ox-Body. I have long maintained that Ox-Body is in fact a terrible charm, but as it is quite in-theme for the Chosen to have stronger constitutions and not everybody goes for an absolute-effect defense straight off, I have bundled it into the generic list of Exaltation advantages, to go along with the Excellency stuff.
On a totally unrelated note: how unfamiliar are you with the Infernals? I can look up a decent overview of how they function if you've not seen anything about them, so you know what sort of powers I might be bringing.

If you guys are going to be playing Jon Chung Exalted then ... I think I'll pass.

-cdi, "carry on"

I'll be playing a human Night Caste... exact details to be determined once a PM or two is answered.

Just a thought... aside from us all being half-siblings, we're all going to be at least half-demon, if not fully so. Will this mean that, hypothetically, we all might be able to eventually acquire demon powers (such as Laharl doeshas, though perhaps not at his power level)?

Another question is how age/aging is handled, since in Disgaea most of the supernatural entities have greatly extended lifespans. I think I remember that Laharl, for all that he looked like barely 10 years old or so, was supposed to be a couple hundred.

Lets keep to the normal rules for the time being. I'll consider maybe later, once I got a better grasp on things, but for the time being, lets sitck to the normal rules (minus the slight changes for fitting in Disgaea). If we start adding house rules from other people, I'll become a bit of a clusterfuck real fast. After all, Exalted isn't exactly the simplest game to understand at best of times already.

The campaign is not going to be rule centric and more plot oriented anyway.

For the half demon thing, it can be whatever you want it to mean. You can be 100% human despite parentage or be like Laharl (who is actually in his 1300s or something). As for aging, it's very relative. Rozalin (and Yukimaru and

Adell
are in their late teens despite looking older than loli fatale Etna (who is I recall in her 1400s).

I'm not... just wanted a VBoS that isn't instant murder, y'know...
Oh come now, VBoS is a trap for any young Sid foolish enough to commit 41m to it's scene-lengths, use artifacts, and activate another scene length charm. ;p

But we're playing solars... which is a different ball game.

Touché! VBoS really should be Sidereal-Only.

Midboss, if you could look at the PM I sent you, I have a question relevant to what I'm planning for my character. I know you're working on other details for this game, but I'm just hoping to get this one out of the way since as far as I know it would just apply to myself.

Backing out, a friend of mine is about to start up a game, and I'm trying to not extend myself too far out.

So I'm a little confused on what we're doing.

Has it been decided who is in Team A or Team B? Each team is supposed to work as a team, correct?

If there is no Anima banner, I presume we just stack Personal and Peripheral together and form one Essence Pool?

If there is no Anima Banner... are Night Caste's going to get some other sort of anima ability?

Do we post our character sheets/backgrounds to you via PM then post them once their approved, or are those threads for teams A/B supposed to be the application threads?

Also: Is a thrown prinny dead forever, more importantly: Is the background lost? Or is a replacement Prinny brought back at the nearest downtime?

Good point... while Night castes do have the obscuring effects, their main claim is the being able to keep their anima from flaring up. Kinda nerfs them if anima banners don't show unless the character/player wants to look cool doing something.

Houserules thread has stated that personal and peripheral are combined.

Anima banners are optional and mostly fluff/RPing. Want your character to be engulfed in some aura? There you go.

Anima effects are still in but you can basically pick and choose. This likely means there's no castes either, but I'll wait for the ST to clear that up first.

Prinnies: They can't die. No matter what. Once they "die", they are just unconscious untill brought to a medi and healed for a very small price. Prinnies are the souls of sinners that must repay their debt by working for demons or celestials. So they can't die except when they have paid their debt and go into the red moon to be reincarnated or go to the afterlife.

However, it has been known for prinnies to rebel against really awful masters (Etna Etna Etna...) if they think they can get away with it. (such as Etna going back down to level 1 in Disgaea 2)

For the Night Cast Anima, one could decide instead that you take pick on another ability closest to character concept.

Team A and B: these are two entirelly separate campaigns. Just pick one at random as long as there is enough space.

Small update: guns: those with ammo clips use the profiles of mecanical crossbows and hand crossbows with ammo capacity of between 5 and 30 depending on type.

Hand Crossbow

Speed 5 // Accuracy +0 // Damage 4L // Rate 1* // Range 75 // Cost 3 // Tags B

Mechanized Crossbow

Speed 5 // Accuracy +1 // Damage 7L // Rate 1* // Range 200 // Cost 3 // Tags B

I seem to more or less have a character written up for this already. Given my usual problems with typoitis, It might want for being run through a spell checker, but I thought I'd post here and see if I should send it to the ST first? If there's room for me in the game..

I'll have mine presented soon, in one of the two group threads xD Just have to ... organize it. ><

I know Disgaea's pretty combat-heavy; how twinky are you looking to make the game? I'm looking at a Defiler (basically Infernal Twilight, quite good for Hell) with She Who Lives In Her Name's charms; there are some combat-capable charms in the set, but they're not near Solar Melee (or, really, many Celestial Martial Arts) in power. As such I'm not going to be rolling with the heavies very well.

Quite honnestly, there's no need to minmax or twink your characters to uber killing machines. This is more a plot and comedy based game. There will be brawl, but all these other pesky social and intelectual skills might also be quite useful. I'lll balance any combats according to your partie's abilities.
