[OOC thread] A Path to Enlightenment [Chronicles of a Thousands Fists]

Awwww, Abyssals get no love

Although it's understandable, seeing as how their animas could drive all the spectators insane.

That, or because nobody wants to deal with that MA in the Abyssals book whose name escapes me but might as well be called Abyssal Hero Style. I hate that thing. Poorly written it is.

Dark Messiah Style? And yes, I agree with you. That, and it might be a little hard, rpwise, to include Abyssals in an MA game like this. But, that is only speculation.

Hmmm I'm wondering if I should give Awakened Essence to Heroic Mortals (not GBs, they have a ton of BPs compared to HMs) for free... they are already so screwed at chargen compared to the rest, and there are so many cool ways one could be enlightened: Touch of Divinity, an artifact, wyld exposure...

I'm considering BP rewards too, for background, fanfics, pics, haven't fixed the rate yet, and I'm only considering it, not confirming I will use this, since it can clearly break the balance at first.

HM and God Blooded can't make Combos...

Suggestions:

-Give Mortals Awakened Essence for free, and raise them up to Essence 2.

-Give Mortals a certain number of Charms for free.

OR

-Give Mortals a certain ammount of extra BP.

And I'd like to point out that God-Blooded can make Combos. Half-Caste can't, and neither can mortals, Fae-Blooded or Ghost-Blooded, but any God-Blooded descended from a demon, elemental or god can make Combos.

Free charms for mortals sounds like an obligation.

For XBs I don't know really, they have so many BPs with Inheritance 3(18) and Patron 3 (6 more) + their original 21... that's a total of 47 plus the ones you can take from flaws, mortals only have 15...

If I give Awakened Essence + Essence 2 freely to mortals, it gives them +12 BP, so that's still 20 BP less.

I also need to check the BP costs: as for HM and XB, the costs of raising Essence and charms are astronomical... I may apply the solar ones.

And no, XBs can't make combos, PG p.48.

Though I could consider that they follow the same edge than their parents when using spirit charms.

I'm pretty sure they can, since gods/demons/elementals can use their charms without Combos... or I might just be recalling Braydz rules for God-Blooded that we're using in Said the Spider to the Fly. :?

Speaking of which I'd advise using Braydz' rules for God-Bloods. They're a good 2e conversion.

Sounds fair, though the combo thing, is a bit unclear...

I'd let Half-Caste have combos between charms, and let God Blooded have their parents talent for using their charms without needing a combo.

I'll create a HM and a GB with this rules soon to see if they match at least a little in terms of potential.

Yup there is a clear advantage at being a xblooded than a HM.

I mean I can go up to 54 BP with a XB (could have made up to 60 if I had taken the 15 pts of flaws), but I need to balance Edges and Flaws with the HM and can't go really high.

The XB has 4 charm (but a heckload of BP to spend), the HM has no charm.

So clearly HM needs more BP than 21 (probably something close to 35), and at least three charms.

Yeah 40 BP and three charms... seems fair to you ?

I can definitely work with that. It's more than I need for my designs. Does Essence 2 cost 7 or 10?

Anyway, I noticed at least one person has been looking into a boot focused character. Would it upset them to know that my First Pulse artist uses those as her signature weapon? Something I had in mind since around the time cyl opened this forum. Thought you ought to know.

Of course, if I do end up going with my Golden Janissary artist, that won't be an issue, but they're both attractive options.

I have no problem with another ass kicking character, FPS is very different from the DSS.

herm... specialties like artifacts, unarmed combat, a particular style etc etc can be taken, but Iron Boots or kicks, is really to narrow to count as such.

Anyway yes, a specialty based on a weapon always includes its artifact equivalent (much like the styles do).

Wait...huh? Are you saying that 'iron boots' is too narrow a specialty or something? I confused.
