Well it's a biology project
And like we had to pick a disease and like do a presentation about how the disease effects the body.
Me and Max chose cancer

I don't know I think I would have preferred something else like I know a lot about cancer and that makes it easier but like I don't know if I really want to stand if front of everyone and talk about it I just I don't know it just I don't know

No I get it. You might be a little expert on the topic, and I know you'll smash the project and do great!

But it's not the kind of thing you like talking about is it? Especially around school you want to stay away from anything like that?

Yeah like I I know not talking about it doesn't like suddenly mean I don't have it
But like if I go and talk about it in front of everyone then it just I don't know then everyone knows and like they all feel bad for me and stuff and I just going to school makes me feel like a normal kid and like I can forget about cancer for a while but what now
Now school is just gonna be another place where I am the cancer patient the the kid who could die the sick kid

I'm sure Max didn't mean to pick something that upset you. Bet he just thought you'd ace the whole thing and be able to teach the class a bunch of stuff.

Also bud, I don't know ofc, but don't a bunch of kids already know your sick? With all you've had to miss school and all.

Yeah I know Max just picked it cause he knew we could get a good grade.

Yeah I know like I know a lot of kids know but I don't know it just feels different to go and talk about it like I don't know how to really explain it but I just I don't know

I guess it just makes everything seem more real I guess if that makes sense I don't know

Hmmm.. Why don't you try and focus on a different kind of cancer then? Forget about your kind, forget about how it makes you sick.

Maybe research how other kinds make people sick? So instead of the blood, you can talk about lung or something? You still know a bunch about the similar parts, the basics of what cancer is and chemo but maybe it'll be easier if you talk about a specific kind you don't have?
