I just rewatched it using youtube since you mentioned it. Yeeeah its a good one.

They act very silly on stage. <3

Sooooo I got bored and decided to draw something.
And so to welcome you home I decided to draw a quick picture for you Liam, if you want to see it?

It's something I made really quick so it's not that good.
And ofc I don't actually know what you look like, but I do remember your Dad telling me about you dying your hair a while back sooo...
Welcome Home Liam.png

Haha awesome lol. I'll take the ears being right!

It was pretty rushed, I wanted to get it done in a single hour so it's pretty messy drawing still but I am glad you like so much it!!

I had a lot of fun drawing it. You like the heart with the little blood vessels? <X3

Yeah i mean i can totally see me in that soo its awesome i’ve never had someone draw something like that for me I love it!!
When dad gets home im gonna see if he can make it my picture on here!

That'd be awesome!

Seriously your welcome my Little Bro.
I was originally thinking of making you a "Get well soon" picture, but you got out of hospital soo fast I decided to make this instead which is way better. :D

But yeah cool dyed hair, spiderman PJs, badass little chest scar, fabulous nails, and apparently big ears.

It's my bro alright! ^w^

To be honest I was struggling to figure out what I was gonna draw, but then you said you were watching Coco.
And since you were, I decided to draw you like Miguel when he had the makeup on, his hands getting all skeletony!

Skull-guitar as well to match the nails. Hehe.

I dont have hair right now cause well its just easier to shave it right now but when i do im definitely gonna dye it again!

Yeah I mean i am Mexican sooo it works haha I really like coco cause it shows so much of my peoples culture ya know? And not how most movies do where Mexican culture is just like made fun of and used like a punch line.

Have to let me know what color u go for when you get to grow your hair back out!

And yeah I get that. I know Mexican culture is often used as a joke in movies. Its why I really liked Coco, it was something really beautiful and taught me a lot I never knew about it. Especially over here obviously a lot further away I never knew much before.

well Asher's post wasn't very long but I think it was effective.

will work on getting one up for Nate.

and yeah movie portrayals of Mexicans and their culture has always really upset me. That's exactly what makes coco such a beautiful film is just how faithfully they show Mexican culture and show how amazing it really is.

As someone living over here in the UK.. There is zero exposure to it. We have very people of Mexican heritage obviously, very little like Mexican food, no cultural stuff ect. So most peoples understanding comes from TV and movies which aren't normally very good at it.

And sounds good. No rush.

Yeah its always oh look at that silly guy dressed like a mariachi.
Or oh look they are wearing ponchos and big sombreros.
Or oh he's Mexican obviously he deals drugs and doesn't belong here.
Or oh she must be a maid who can barely speak English cause she is Mexican.
Or or like a million other things!!
And they always make fun of Dia de los Muertos like we are crazy and stupid for honoring our ancestors!! Or they just turn it into Marti Gras which it is NOT!!

Why can't the Mexican guy just be... Like anybody else in some normal day job. Like a bank teller or something.
Someone can be Mexican and you know, just be a normal dude.

I think the Day of the Dead stuff is beautiful <3 - and far from crazy. Lots of cultures honor in their own ways. It's sacred, and important to the culture. Making fun of anyone's way, anybodies culture is not okay. I am really happy Coco got to teach me a more authentic version tho than other TV sources did before it.
