Both kind of incorrect. Tria doesn't create wormholes per say, she has too admitedly still quite scifi processes:
A) Some of the technology has miniaturized worm holes. They are, however, so small matter can't go through them, only information or energy.
B) While she cannot create wormholes, she can guide their natural occurrence. The difference between creating a metal rod out of nowhere and fetching it with a magnet.

Also worthy of note, this wormhole technology is what her now long since lost creating civilization was best known for, the very pinnacle of their technology- over which they are currently extinct.

Humans are not the only ones with advanced technology. There would be collaboration with other species to enable wormhole travel, and then each session of travelling would require immense amount of resources to commence.
