You guys have very nice formatting for your character sheets! Is there somewhere I can grab that? I tried quoting but editing inside of a quote is difficult.

Smart!

Think I'm going with the social infiltrator. As a side note, did you guys know that choosing charms is really hard?!?!?? I want them all.
Definitely the hardest part aside from deciding on a concept. Thankfully it is a mercy that we are starting at essence 1 so we at least got some way to curb our charm greed.

What I usually do is make a list of all the Charms I want that I qualify for, and then start prioritizing them according to what's more important to the concept. For Example, with Droplets, my Abyssal in the "To Stand Against the Crimson Tide" game, I have a list of 25 Charms I wanted, and had to trim it down to 15, making sure what was more important for the concept.

Haven't created the background yet, but I know he has been living in the capital for most of his life at least. Things are final-final yet, but I don't forsee any huge changes

A suggestion? Get some kind of combat ability. If you want to stick to ranged combat, having a good bow works wonders and so keep you from getting squished in a melee fight.

Put a dot in Brawl, with that and the Dex excellency he should be able to fight off some randos. For more powerful threats, he'll either have to convince them he's much more dangerous than he is or, more likely, stay off their radar!

Looking at how his charms landed, they don't really DO much. There's quite a few 'economic' charms. They either give mute tags, so that he has access to the peripheral pool without giving himself away, or they are "counts X as why" things. Calculate Resolve with Charisma, use Manipulation to conceal evidence etc. So they are instead of having other stats, allowing him to focus more on the social bit.

We'll see how it works out. He is good at figuring people out, and he has a few ways of getting new shapes. His Tell is hard to notice, and he can instantly fashion new disguises. But feels a lot like he'll stay in the background, doing research and then trying to leverage the information he gains from the Perception charms into some sort of actual agency.

Since I have Many-Faced-Moon, maybe I don't need the Stolen Faces merit? I use it now to have access to some generic shapes, but I think I can just Many-Face it for the times when those are needed.

Question: Does shapeshifting create new clothes?

Shapeshifting doesn't create clothes, from what I recall, but am away from books.

Many-Faced-Moon allows you to customize your form, but not to appear as a specific individual, like taking one's Heart's Blood does.

How would your character have gained contacts 3 in the Elemental Brotherhoods? That seems quite a feat to achieve.

Having most of your initial Charms not "do" much is still laying a good foundation to build upon.

Great question! I have no idea lol. They seemed important in the campaign-write up so I figured it be good to have contacts there.

My spontanous thoughts is that he doesn't have any plug into the actual dragon-blooded, but is able to deceive and manipulate their helpers. He talks to courtier and intercepts messages, milks their servants and such.

Buuut thinking about it, 3 seems kind of alot? It's a big place, and he can't personally intercept all these messages. Ideally he would have people report to him voluntarily, albeit probably under false pretenses. I don't think his current charm-set supports such a scenario though. I'll have a think and maybe reduce or remove the merit if I can't think of a good way of doing it.

Most of their communications aren't done by messengers, least of all mundane ones. They are Dragon-Blooded, and have access to Cahrms and Sorvery that can make sending messages much faster, and with much less chance of mortals ever getting their hands on. Any communications you might intercept are ones they don't mind being intercepted.

Oh! Then maybe all the more i might lean more towards sorcery than martial.

Maybe they would let something skip because they were lazy or through idle gossip and rumor? Top secret info is handy, but so too is knowing the common talk. Who likes who and who talks with who. After all... if they are so careful, then what they put in channels that may be intercepted, if they anticipate them being intercepted, is stuff they want others see? But of course there is a whole different message behind it if they know you know they know they are being intercepted. But that is above my pay grade, daes dae'mar is for the clever socialites.

Oh right, they are a society of magical beings. I keep forgetting that.

I've been thinking and fiddling, and I am gonna drop the contacts. I just don't see how he would achieve it. I think it's more fun to build up to anyway!

What I did do with the three extra merit points is put one of them into Followers, thus expanding his network of personal spies, and the other two into a Retainer. This retainer will be a spymaster, that manages said network for him. This way he doesn't have to invest as much into management skills and there will be less scenes of clerical work, that can happen off-screen.

I still find myself with one merit dot left. What language does the local Dragon-blooded speak? Is it an off-shoot of High Realm, or firetongue? Or something else?

Rumors suggest Old Realm, but some say they speak a language older than time itself, and others say they have developed their own unique language. OOC, I haven't decided yet.

Red Shadow Claws Red Shadow Claws Is taking necromancy allowed? And if so, what are the opinions of necromancers in the area?

Nothing stops you from taking Necromancy. Necromancers are only rumored around this area, said to have been the rulers of the ancient kingdoms of Nog and Kadar, that existed on the eastern side of the main island. There are terrible things said to dwell in their ruins, and dark secrets said to lie there.

While Sorcerers are named Sha'irs in this region, Necromancers are named Ghul Lords.

Nice. Nice. Then I may have a have inspiration for a concept that will be much less complicated mechanically!

But I got to ask. How nuts are we allowed to go with a starting backstory so long as the end result is a viable and rather mild character and said backstory things don't really effect anything in this world save for what you want to make up to mess with my char? Say, for instance, they travel through the abyssal and infernal realms, making a whole bunch of fuss, adventure, and acclaim to do some deed, only to come back and remember none of it and have nothing to show for it except some sorcerous initiations. A la "hangover movie but in hell" kind of thing.

I will definitely need to know more about this crazy background to decide.

Other than an actual backstory, I think my character is done. Downgraded the spirit court contacts to level 1, so it's the gods involved in Golden Huzuz specifically. Feels like the capital is sort of his center of operations, or have been up to now, and we'll see how things develop :)

With the extra points I just bumped social attributes. Will try to get some basic backstory up soon, and then I think I'm good to go.

Alright, I'll be throwing up my sheet this evening even if WIP. My bigger issue will be hammering out the charms for the masks my guy wears and uses
