Alicia Harte
I41g59f.jpg

The maid girl was a bit taken back by the woman's response, shuffling back slightly a bit alert not sure how to respond to the excited gesture half thinking she had done something wrong at first. She seemed to ease up a little bit as she settled down seeming quite satisfied in herself. Had she come off as imposing? She really hoped she hadn't done something wrong to make her seem unapproachable that the lady would see her saying yes was that iffy of a task. Alicia shuffled slightly back as she held out her hand noticing it offering for a shake. She looked rather nervious slowly extending her hand out, fidgeting for a second as if tempting to draw it back before finally very very gently taking hold to shake hands, careful as to allow the woman she now knew as Scarlet to do the shaking motion. She didn't want another awkward accident like she had a few days ago.

"Th... thank you.... q.. queen of the pirates? Red Ribbon P.. pirates?" She repeated her voice coming off more under her own breath as the girl seeming a bit taken back uncertain of how to react not even having thought about what it was she had been signing up in the first place. What had she done? She hadn't even thought much about it. The girls hand lifting up over her mouth half uncertain just what kind of thing she signed herself up for. What if they were blood thirsty pirates? What if they were blood thirsty cannibal pirates? What if they were blood thirsty cannibal pirates that hated a clean ship? She could easily slip up going into auto pilot and suddenly go cleaning up a blood stain she wasn't suppose to and get into big trouble! Her time as a main made her so quick to do such a thing that could get her in trouble if they were like that! Not to mention if she ended up having to cook she didn't know the least in how to cook human meat!

Wait, what are you thinking Alicia, how could you think of things like that? She seemed to catch herself drifting into an odd thought tangent shaking her head fortunately with Scarlet's attention seeming to of been shifted away as her mind began wandering a bit too far in the realms of the absurd. Her eyes shifting over noticing the strange blue woman who seemed to be talking, another tangent of guilt making it into Alicia's mind realizing she had completely missed what she had said to her new captain. If she became part of the crew she was more then likely to blunder up what she might need! Not that she knew what the music playing woman... oh gods did she miss her name too? How much more could she be falling flat today, she was just setting herself up to disapoint people!

Any sort of worry about her imagined faux pas were put on hold as she caught sight of Scarlet pushing through the crowd seemingly towards someone. Strangely enough the very act doing a good job at keeping Alicia from being overly worried about everything else including the crew she somewhat abandoned midwork through much too their disappointment with all the heavy lifting they needed. The girl shuffled behind trying to follow, being extremely careful navigating through delicately not wanting to unintentionally push through someone. A little careful nudge wouldn't be a big deal but having to really squeeze through was a rather dangerous thing for her in terms of not causing accidental harm to others. She had control over her 'curse' but only to a certain extent. It took effort to hold back and she didn't have any real way to control just how 'dense' she was if someone else decided to plow right into her.

Finding her way through the crowd Alicia let out a soft sigh of relief glancing up blinking as she looked on at a... reunion? It was rather heart warming to watch as the girl's cheeks turned a light shade of red in admiration for the comradery the two seemed to share. It was something she felt a tinge of jealousy towards the idea of it. She stood at attention with her left hand gently clutching onto the outside of her right. The woman Nerissa seeming a little strange to her... though it wasn't saying much considering Mary wasn't exactly a typical human either. Perhaps a Fishman? She wasn't really that familiar with them as a whole, granted Nerissa did seem much more on the human side then she thought they were. Beside the captain's seemingly old friend she noticed two men, one who had rather oddly captivating crimson eyes. The other more flashy with his clothing and the heart and star marks on his cheeks. Despite having just gone through the crowd he also seemed to have a strange 'energy' about him she wasn't quite certain to make it out as.

Alicia bit her lip feeling a bit out of place being newly recruited. She clutched her hand a bit tighter standing at attention not far away from Scarlet, glancing over to see Nicole who she had... slightly more familiarity with even if it was just seemingly a minute or so more exposure with.

Arabell Overcast
__shirayuki_tomoe_nijisanji_drawn_by_ktsis__39384df7e66d6b487ebfd01ff31f7983.png

God the sounds of youth were loud today.

Arabell had been less than excited to hear about the marines coming to this island, for relief of all things. Good job, guys, you’re fixing one of your damn messes at least. Ever since her less than elegant departure from her assigned ship Arabell occupied her time two things, giving free-ish medical care to anyone who needed it after the tsunami and getting wasted off her ass. The -ish being when they were too insistent on paying to say no, it helped to muddy up her guilt a bit. But now it seemed like her current problems were catching up to her and in the blur of boozing, coming faster than she had anticipated.

She decided to go down a path she hadn’t much traveled toward the docks where she had been “keeping” the small life boat she had sailed in on. That was a nice way of putting it, really she just wanted to keep it around just in case she needed to get outta there discreetly. Arabell wouldn’t have minded the port workers breaking it down for some extra wood otherwise. Now that sad little thing wasn’t looking too bad.

A scoff escaped her lips as she witnessed the sources of noise that made her hangover worse than usual. A bunch of youngin’s- ahem. A bunch young people, much like Arabell herself, were all clogged up together, maybe they were buddies or something? Friends? Despite being more than willing to help anyone who came by to ask, Arabell hadn’t actually gotten to know anyone on the island. Actually, one or two of them did sort of look fa

….Pi. Pirate Queen??

Scarlet Johanna Ingrid???

She. Was very much extremely super not supposed to be alive

Not that Arabell was mad at her survival, far from it it sent a flutter into her heart that hoped there were other survivors too just. NOT declaring themselves to be PIRATES.

So the Doctor didn't quite stomp right over to the group, but she did very aggressively speed walk, raising both hands she CLAPPED them together, hopefully that would get their attention? Actually, this was a really, really strange bunch of people now that she was getting some good looks at them. Fishmen? In this part of the damn ocean? "Scuse me~ I just couldn't help but notice It looks like your all really excited about something, buuut isn't it better to keep stuff like this to yourselves~?" She said in and overly cheery voice, face stretched in a very forced smile. The next words however were done in a low serious gravel, her eyes darting quite seriously toward Scarlet. The rest, well, she would just assume they were all pirates for now, thats how the Marines would treat the situation. Which was sort of the problem here. "That sort of talk can get a lot of innocent people in a lot of trouble, if they start getting questioned. So maybe you lot can move this some place a little more discrete? At the very least?"

She was sure her eyes were only a little bloodshot so hopefully she would be taken seriously and not look like some grouch that just rolled out of bed.

"Excellent!" Nicole exclaimed before playing another riff on her guitar. Their crew was growing. "Welcome aboard!" She said to Alica and Mary.

She noticed the crowd forming around them and flashed a fiery grin. It looked like they'd have a big crew, but surely everyone wasn't likely to join; there was probably some gawking islanders in the mix.

Out of the corner of her eye, she noticed Scarlet maneuvering through the crowd. The musician followed, witnessing the reunion. The lady named Nerissa had an interesting get up. Kinda looked like a mermaid with the shells on her breasts, but Nicole didn't think too much about it. In her book, any friend of the captain's was already a friend of hers.

"Join the crew. It'll be fun!" she said to Nerissa. Nicole started to chant again, but she suddenly stopped after a loud clap from another woman.

She turned her attention to Arabell and flashed a punky grin. "When there's fire in your soul, you gotta rock and roll!" she replied passionately, raising up a "rock on" hand sign. She glanced around the crowd for a sec, then leaned in a little closer to Scarlet. "But maybe we should take this elsewhere...before we start getting heat," she added softly.

Levin Waldfried Roam

At: A bay on the far side of Lil'Amyth

With: Shu the kung-fu dewgong

A few moments passed in quiet solitude as Andar left and the shipwright looked at the creature set to aid him with uncertainty and an appraising eye. His thoughts surged with confusion as he pondered how he should approach the situation, how to communicate with the entity. Presumably it was smart enough to understand what he said as Andar hadn’t slipped into a different language when instructing them. Judging by that and it’s position as a member of a pirate crew it must be quite capable. Assessing what little he knew of the creature Roam shifted the log he’d been marking from out of his supply pile and spoke up:

Alright then… Shu, was it? I need you to chop where you see the lines. There is an axe, and a saw, on that corner of the pile.” His hand poked up from within the structure of logs, line and canvas once more and he pointed to where the tools were stacked in a neat row. He hoped that he wasn’t asking too much of the guy. Worry started to settle in that he was being unreasonable, but he buried it down and carried on. Better to set the creature a required task and risk it not quite managing than to set it a simpler one and risk insulting it. Them. Shu.

Or a hammer and chisel if you don’t um… If you don’t feel safe with the sharper tools. Just whatever you’re comfortable with, I guess?” He briefly pondered if he should have the creature doing the cutting, but his hands had already been left too idle in the moments of thought and on reflex he had grabbed a piece of softer timber and was setting to work sanding and planing a bit of wood to mimic a length of ribbon tied in a bow. The task was simple, decorative and all in all wouldn’t do much for the repairs but part of him felt he should work on it just in case. That said; he was far from neglecting the work needed to keep repairing the ship as he was mentally mapping the fittings for the new door the chopped log would go towards making. Measuring out the fittings and the sizings, the finish and the trim. Planning on whether it would be better to affix a brush guard or a rubber guard to the base in order to prevent water from flowing through it in the case of a storm. His thoughts races as he considered whether the door should open inwardly or outwardly or be settled into the wall such that it could be slid to the side and out of the way allowing for a near-seamless opening in the occurrence that they felt like leaving the door open to let in cool air.

If what I’m saying makes sense to you you could… I don’t know… nod, or give me some kind of signal?” He said all of this with his eyes glued on his work and a pile surrounding him that was still too tall to reasonably see over. In essence there was no reasonable way for him to see any sort of non-verbal response. In point of fact it seemed unlikely he'd seen anything going on around him that day aside from the brief moment he'd poked his head up.

Nerissa (Nessy) Orta
30401e1b.jpg

Eyes widened with interest as the Invincible Higo spread his arms and introduced himself along with his red-eyed friend Cherluca, Nerissa almost missed the small crowd they had gathered. Almost. Eyes flickering at all the whispers and discomfort around the word ‘pirate’, Nerissa couldn’t help but internally sigh. Mirestone—which Lil’ Amyth wasn’t too far from—had been a gathering of pirates searching for One Piece, so it was really no surprise that some may have washed on the shores of Lil’ Amyth as Buster Call refugees. They were the victims of that fiasco too…just like the innocent Islanders of Lil’ Amyth. The targets in fact. However, they’d done nothing to be ashamed of. She’d done nothing to be ashamed up. Even if she were a part of a crew of pirates, she brought for with her the blessings of Aquarius and did what she could to help the people of the town.

Therefore, the Priestess of Aquarius lifted her head high. Being a ‘Red Ribbon Pirate’ was nothing to be ashamed about. She couldn’t say the same about other crews, but she knew in her heart that Scarlet—being a good person deep down—would’ve helped the townsfolk had she seen the sad state the tsunami left Lil’ Amyth as well. Nodding, Nerissa opened her mouth to respond to Cherluca when she heard her name being called.

The aqua haired lady only managed to turn around when she saw and blur of red and found herself wrapped in a tight embrace. At first she stiffened in surprise, but the words and familiar voice relaxed her and she returned the hug with a smile. Scarlet was still as affectionate as always. “It’s good to see you’re alive as well, Captain.” Though she already knew. That was the only reason she’d come to Lil’ Amyth in the first place. Nerissa wanted to ask of Scarlet had seen Arlen as well…but redhead’s words of thinking everyone dead already answered that question and she bit back a sigh of disappointment. Happy reunions shouldn’t be interrupted with depressing thoughts and, even know she’d known Scarlet because of the water scrying she performed, it evoked a different feeling when physically confirming it for herself. Even without the guitar-playing girl prompting her, Nerissa’s answer was obvious. “Of course, I will. We made a promise, after all.”

To find One Piece. She knew of Scarlet’s goal to be Queen of the Pirates and Scarlet knew she desired the knowledge stored in there. That was why she’d joined the Red Ribbons in the first place. Unlike the pirates that laughed at her, they would’ve shared the map…if it had existed. No. It certainly existed. Somewhere out there a real map to One Piece lay waiting to be found…and Aquarius’s guidance would surely lead to it…provided they remained in her favor. Frowning at Scarlet’s suggestion to steal a ship, which ought not be spoken aloud and only served to make people more wary of them, Nerissa nodded in agreement with the stranger that clapped her hand for attention. Everyone else as well.

“But we are not stealing a ship,” Nerissa said this part loud enough for everyone around them to hear. Even making a raft off the island was better. Taking Scarlet’s hand, the priestess lead Scarlet back into town with the assumption that everyone else who wanted to join the crew would follow, ignoring the wide birth some of the dock workers gave them. How people thought of her didn’t really matter to Nerissa…and, to be honest, she was used to dealing with crowds of disbelievers. "If we are to retain Lady Aquarius's blessings in our journey to the Grand Line, we mustn't do something she would not approve of."

It was her duty, as a priestess, to make them believe. To bring back the words of Aquarius to the rest of the world that had forgotten her. Nerissa continued soothingly. “One of my new friends has a ship that’s currently being repaired by Sir Roam. I’ll show it to you…but let’s get a bite to eat first. There’s a discrete establishment that Mr. Andar frequently likes to dine at since washing up on Lil’ Amyth if I remember correctly…and anyone that's interested in being part of the Red Ribbons can join us..." If they wanted to. Scarlet and the guitar-playing girl already did a good job of advertising. Rumors would certainly spread about the Red Ribbon Pirates if recruitment was the goal. "Ah, that’s right! I promised to introduce you two.”

Glancing at the colorful man and his armored companion, Nerissa introduced the two she’d only just met as she strolled down the streets of the town searching for the establishment. “This is the Invincible Higo and his friend, Cherluca.”

More introductions would need to be made since she didn’t know the name of the two Scarlet invited, nor the stranger that was kind enough to warn them about being discreet, but that could wait until they were all seated. Sir Roam would probably appreciate some food being brought to him as well, given how hard he’d been working. Mr. Andar’s ship had been quite banged up…and not suitable for human passengers…when she’d first seen it. Opening the doors to a discreet, seedy looking bar, she was not in the least surprised to find the Beastbound Captain downing his sorrows in alcohol.

Honestly, she couldn’t remember if the place served food or not, but filling one’s belly with solid substance was probably better than all that intoxicating beverage. Better yet, send one’s sorrows away to Aquarius. It was a common tradition for Mirage Islanders to write their troubles down on a piece of paper, place it in a bottle, and throw it out to sea so that Aquarius might find it…if they didn’t want to talk to a priest of course. Making note to perform a prayer, possibly hold a ceremony, for all those who died because of the Mirestone Massacre, Nerissa cleared her throat, speaking in a proud, somewhat teasing, manner so Iskander might hear and possibly be awoken from his sorrows. “I found our Captain, Mr. Andar~”

Still leaned in close to Nerissa, Hugo’s focus on her cracked as his expression snapped to a darkened one as he heard the comments that surrounded him, All of his soul left his eyes as they aimlessly gazed forward past Nerissa as if they were looking for some place to escape to. He held that look for a moment, one long moment before he suddenly turned around to rub the back of his neck, a weary smile on his face as a cold sweat went down his forehead. “W-Well of course nobody has heard of me here! It’s West Blue after all! I haven’t ventured out of the Grand Line until recently!” He said, clearly trying to cover the lack of his infamy with a tattered cloth called ‘cope’. This attempt only lasted briefly, as with the sound of cracking glass, his facial expression transformed into one of clear distraught. Downturned lip, shallowed eyes, and shrunk pupils.

“Am I an idiot? Did I not eat a healthy breakfast today?! I just waltzed up and screamed in everyone’s face ‘HEY! I’M A PIRATE! GO TELL THE MARINES SO THEY LOCK ME UP!’.” He demeaned himself internally, grasping at both sides of his head. “That’s it! I have to leave the island as soon as possible now! If the marines come here I’m a goner!”

However, this downward spiral in his mind was brought to a halt, as what from the corner of his vision seemed like a red smear suddenly slammed into Nerissa, his eyes slowly following the trail of after images to finally reach its destination.

“Oh. It’s just that red-haired lady.” He blankly commented, all the lamentation disappearing from his face. “Wait, that’s her captain!” Higo remembered, eyes widening. Unexpectedly, she had made her way over to them. He was completely unaware that it was his shouting that brought her attention over here in the first place, but nevertheless, he was ready to take advantage of this chance to try and slink his way into the crew while the rest of the members were left behind in the crowd.

The corner of his lip curled upward as he took a couple steps forward, getting ready to interrupt the girls' reunion to introduce himself personally when-

The woman stated her plans.

Out loud.

For everyone nearby to hear.

The camera panned around Higo’s head from the back to circle back around his face, a completely neutral expression had graced his features, one lacking in any single droplet of emotion, almost as if he had entered a comatose state while standing.

“This girl is a special one, huh?” He thought dryly.

Then finally it kicked in, as Higo was sent flying backward from an imaginary punch, one born of purse disbelief, to the gut, landing flat on the ground. He coughed as he rolled back onto his feet, wiping the drool from the corner of his lips. Just as he thought things couldn’t get any more unpredictable, he heard the woman take the initiative by letting Cher and him join her crew.

"She's way too naïve!" Much too trusting!” Higo was flabbergasted as he looked back at Scarlet. “Is she an idiot!? You can just let people on your crew that easily! She hasn’t even asked for our names or titles! About our prior experiences or references!” He griped internally. While it was good for him, the fact of how carefree she was acting caused the pirate to grit his teeth.

“That’s far too risky! I’d never let anyone join my crew without reviewing them first--”

---

“Oh, you’re a pirate? That’s rad! Hey, let me join your crew!”

Higo looked over towards the voice with a slight blush on his face, clearly intoxicated. “Ehhh? I don’t know...buy me a meal and I might consider it!”

---

“I’m tired of this island! Let me join your crew!”

Not even looking over this time, Higo offered them a brown colored satchel, one that didn't even look that heavy. “Yeah sure, just hold this bag for me, my arms are getting tired.”

---

“I snuck on your ship, so guess that means I’m part of the crew now, right?”

Higo sat there with his eyes looking off in the distance, not even paying attention as he picked his nose with his pinkie. “Huh, you say somethin’?” He asked the voice, his eyes glancing over as he flicked a booger off to the side.

---

Higo's lips were tightly pursed as he raised his gaze to the sky and had a plain white expression on his face, with his side-swept hair covering his mouth. “...Oh.”

When Higo finally stood back up on his two feet, he turned around to realize that multiple other people had joined their little ‘gathering’. There was the girl in the maid dress whose body language made it very easy to read how out of place she seemed to feel, the one with the flashy hair, who now, with the guitar she was holding in clear view, was clearly some kind of musician. Then there was also the lady with the slightly bloodshot ey-- “Wait, where did she come from?” Higo questioned with a tilt of his head, having completely missed her appearance while he was busy in his own mental minefield.

He couldn’t say that being among such a large group was pleasant, at least currently. He was hoping to gauge this ‘Captain Scarlet’ in a more personal manner before having to adjust to the rest of the crew. Though, how quick she was to allow him to join the ranks, it would seem that making a later goal wouldn’t be too hard. As he contemplated his plan of action to get as much use out of this pirate crew as possible, his attention was dragged over to Nerissa as she declared they WOULDN’T be stealing a ship.

“Really!? That’s a relief.” Higo said without thinking, all his anxiousness about having to do something that would put a clear target on his back finally leaving his body. But, realizing he had let his façade drop for a second, he cleared his throat. “I wouldn’t want to waste any of my energy on something that’s not much different from snatching a lollipop out of an infant's mouth.” He started putting on a brave face as he rubbed under his nose.

Higo was fully ready to side with Nerissa, thinking that her thoughts came from logic, in comparison to her captain. But then she began to prattle on about something called 'Lady Aqueeresus?' or something, causing him to blink as a question mark appeared over his head. “…Huh?” was the only response he could muster. Luckily, that wasn’t her sole reason for disagreeing with ship thievery, as she explained that one of her confidants has a ship in repair for the crew to use. Letting out a sigh of relief and closing his eyes to the fact that the woman wasn’t a complete nutcase, a small smile appeared on his lips. Everything seemed to be going well for once, he was able to join the crew with no issue, they had an established way of transportation, and he was even getting a meal out of it too. Not to mention, one of his former and trusted crewmates was accompanying him as well. Things didn’t seem so bad.

“Oi, Cher. Let’s get move on, Maybe they’ll have some seafood for ya where we’re going.” Higo said to his crewmate, waving him along as he began to follow behind Nerissa, who had just taken the time to properly introduce him and Cherluca to Scarlet.

“She’s not going to put ‘Invincible’ in front of my name whenever she says it now, right?” Higo worried internally, a nervous twitch of his eyebrow. But as it clicked that he should probably take some initiative with this introduction, he returned to his confidant smirk, placing his hand on his chest. “Pleasure to meet you! I’m sure you’ll be grateful to have me on your team!” He said, stopping in the middle of the road to take a pose, covering his face with his open fingers. “After all, my abilities and skills once assisted one of the strongest crews on the Grand Line!” He said boastfully, sparkles coming off his eyes. But as he realized that everyone else was already moving ahead of him, his performance quickly dropped as he rushed to catch back up.

As soon as he stepped foot into the seedy looking establishment, in the blink of an eye, Higo had dispersed from the group to land right on a stool, sitting right next to Iskandar unknowingly, not even taking a glance over at him. “Yooosh!” He shouted out, before slamming his open palm onto the table. “I’LL TAKE 3 PINTS OF ALE! AS SOON AS POSSIBLE!” He ordered enthusiastically, a dumb smile on his face.

Two years. Two full years.

Had it really been that long since he first washed up on the shores of Lil 'Amyth? The memory of his first time walking into town was still fresh in his mind—the villagers never did let him live it down, after all. Not like he ever could forget how lost he felt that first day anyways; not knowing where he was or what anything was at all. "As clueless as a newborn babe!" they'd say, with a smile and a laugh...and before he knew it, he found himself smiling along with them. For over these last two years, those same villagers had taken him in as one of their own. This town had grown to be the first thing he could truly consider to be a...' home '. Perhaps life on the small island wasn't the life he had wanted to live on the outside. But Bishop didn't mind it. Because soon enough, he found himself smiling and laughing along with them, relishing in the peace his life on Lil' Amyth brought.

And yet, here he was. "Shit, shit, shit, shit..." Mumbling profanities to himself as he ran about the shack he had spent the last two years living in, messily throwing everything he had salvaged from his stall into a bag.

Would they still be searching for him, much less recognize him after two years? Who could tell?! All Bishop knew was that he wasn't going to be taking any chances. He couldn't afford to, not when a single slip-up could cost him everything! The wooden floorboards creaked as he ran about his shack—he'll have to leave those half-finished projects behind, no way all of that fabric will fit, that pirate flag was a weird gift anyways—a million thoughts running through the Mink's brains every second. But one weighed on him more than any other: The Marines are coming. He had to run. He had to get off this island as fast as possible.

...Something made him pause his panic-packing, though. Something he had caught out of the corner of his eye. A bundle of blankets, neatly folded up and put into the corner of a table, a red ribbon tied around on it with a neat little bow on top. "Don't do it!", the more rational part of his brain yelled. "It's best if we just run! We don't have time to waste saying goodbye, much less to deliver a gift...!" And to be fair, it had a point. "...Gods, damn it all!" Maybe that was why he cursed out loud one last time—as he grabbed the the bundle of blankets on an impulse anyways, before running out for the streets of Lil 'Amyth.

"...This place still stinks of alcohol and piss, you know."
"Awh, piss off, will you? I've had enough trouble as is already, don't you go stirring up any more..."

Bishop really, really, really hated this place.
Out of all the places on Lil 'Amyth, this seedy bar was the one that earned the award for having the worst stench. It made his sensitive nose scrunch up every time he had to go in, and he made no effort to hide this displeasure from the bartender. But the man behind the counter had his own troubles, Bishop taking note of the way his eyes occasionally flickered to the only other person sitting at the bar with him. Some kind of fish-man, he thought they were called? Bishop himself was tempted to get a better look at him, but something about the man...made him feel like it was a bad idea. The distant expression on his face, the way he downed one order after another. Then again, it wasn't a good idea to stare at anybody in this bar...

...Especially when he had business to do. This whole detour was a bit of a risk founded off an impulse, but Bishop had figured that there was at least one way or another he could make use for it. Staring at strangers wasn't it, though. "I need a favor from you." Bishop kept his voice low as he focused his gaze back onto the bartender, sliding over the ribbon-tied bundle of blankets across the counter. "I need a ship that can get me out of here. Preferably, as soon as possible. You know better than anybody not to pry...so just consider it payment for these." Bishop paused, seeing the confusion on the bartender's face. "...The...baby blankets that your wife asked for? For your...baby?"

"—Oh—Listen, you be quiet about that..."
The bartender was forced to look away again, his attention now having been stolen by another large group entering the bar. This time, Bishop couldn't even be bothered to glance back, anxiously waiting for his reply. With a sigh, the older man slid the gift underneath the counter as he spoke up once again... "...I got a reputation to upkeep, son. But about the ship business..." His own voice lowered...as the bartender leaned across the counter, resting on their forearms as he continued their conversation at a whisper. "...Them down by the docks are busier than a moth in a mitten. The only way you're getting on a ship anytime soon with the paltry Belly you've got...is through a pirate crew."

...Bishop took a deep breath, needing a moment to process that.

Two years of peace in Lil 'Amyth, and he would have to give it all up to run away with pirates? Leaning back in his seat, their ears lowered as their standard frown turned into what was almost a scowl. Bishop was desperate. He couldn't risk being recognized by the Marines—he couldn't risk going back. But he'd be lying if he said that he wasn't prepared for this...if he didn't feel quite ready to leave. Especially like this. No goodbyes, no thank you's, nothing to repay them the people of Lil 'Amyth for what they had done for him. Bishop wouldn't even be around to help see the town fully rebuild itself. That wasn't how he wanted these two years to end. It was just too...sudden.

But his freedom came first. As selfish as this all was, no matter how much it pained him, this was something he had to do. Steeling his will, Bishop spoke up in light of his doubts... "...Alright...Alright. I don't have time to waste, so I'll just have to trust you on that. Got any crews you can direct me towards?" In response, the Bartender simply raised a bushy eyebrow. "Well, look all around you, son. I don't exactly serve saints down here. Just take your pick. Now, if you'll 'scuse me, I've got a job to do." And so the Bartender left him with that, as a particularly loud pirate sat between him and the fish-man, obnoxiously yelling out his order.

...Great. His future hinged on a seedy bar full of even seedier pirates. Where to even start...?

Andar Jaranath
Beastbound, er, officer
A seedy bar on Lil' Amyth Island

A fine haze, thin and golden, drowned Andar in a world where blood red sorrow and emerald-like joy entwined. Everything was distant and close, in sight and out of reach at the same time. Another pint of ale streamed down his throat, and the hint of a smile bloomed on his face.

Life is an orange ocean, a sparkling treat, a home, a retreat~

He lay his head down on the counter, humming a tune to his heart. Andar raised no resistance to the lighthearted wave the alcohol brought. If he drunk, just let it be. Why bother fighting, why bother withstanding? The fuzzy creature sitting next to him caused him to chuckle. Ah, the illusions has arrived. A rabbit-man instead of a fish-man. Hehe. Cute.

A voice broke through the dream-like stupor. A call to attention, a return to reality. Andar used the counter as a support, turning toward Nessy and the captain she had. And there it was, standing smack dab in the middle of the bar, a group of people close together, and in the middle of them, a woman with hair red like flowing blood, Scarlet Johannah Indigrid.

Andar burst into laughter.

"Ah, you found her, Nessy. And what a beautiful crew we have~!" Andar looked at everyone, then at the eager Higo, and laughed again. What a crew! What a sight to behold!

"A captain and a priestess started a pirate crew. A fish-man, a spearsman, a musician, a maid, a mother, and a jokester joined them. The crew entered a bar and found One Piece!" Andar continued to laugh while shaking his head. "Iskandar Jaranath, Beastbound Captain, ฿9,000,000 bounty. The captain hat is yours, Captain Scarlet, but I'm not convinced."

He staggered to his feet with a smile, warm and calm, yet not with reverence. He patted Higo on the back and spread his arms apart. "I just lost a crew to marines, so it's difficult, ah. Rather a skeleton crew that can fight than a bloated one with meat shields. Except the maid," he nodded at Alice, who he had seen carrying supplies as heavy as he could at the dock. "the rest gets me worried, ah. If short-lived like this rabbit...!"

Andar turned to swipe at the bunny man's protruding ears, only to freeze when his hands touched real ears and not thin air. He stared, speechless at Bishop. He rubbed his eyes. The rabbit-man was still there. He was definitely wasn't short-lived.

...hehe.

Andar turned sheepishly at the crew and grinned. "Ah, forget it. Let me buy a round for-"

A gun shot. The bullet barely missed Andar and hit the counter. The bartender cursed and hid in the kitchen. A large crowd congregated at the entrance, all wearing identical headbands. Andar chuckled and turned to Scarlet. "Ah, forget it. Here's a chance to fight. Dead weights here doesn't board the ship, how does that sound, Captain?"

A woman was screaming something outside, the woman Andar kicked out earlier, but Andar ignored it and sent a friendly gaze to Bishop instead. He always had a soft spot for beasts and creatures, rabbits included. "Sorry about that. Didn't thought you were real. You should probably hide with the barkeep there. Ah, barkeep! Can we get food and drinks ready to go?"

"GET THAT SEASCRAP!"
screamed the woman. The pirate crew rushed in.

It's a bar fight!

Aya Thorn
Is desperately in need of a header

|---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------|

After a long time of trying to find a single boat willing to let her hitch a ride off to another island, Aya found herself sitting on a pile of wood for the repair of the docks. "What a waste of time.. Fuck it, I'm grabbing a drink and waiting this out." Aya got up from the wood and started walking down the street, but once she arrived at the bar, she saw a woman getting thrown out of a bar, before screaming for backup. A grin spread on Aya's face, something that hadn't happened for a while. Usually, when someone gets thrown out they'd have messed with the wrong person or just an annoying person, so when she called for pirate backup, Aya assumed that she could have some fun at their expense. "This is the stuff I've been waiting for!" Aya said and smiled, grabbing a rock and throwing it at one of the pirates, before rushing at him and planting a fist straight in his face, it wasn't really that strong but a punch to the nose still hurts like hell. She'd get some hair in her eye which she blew out of the way mid-punch.

The random appearance of some woman, attacking you for no reason would definitely catch some people off guard, so when she did, there'd most likely not be reason to protect themselves from that angle, hence why she had the time to knee a man right in the crotch, once he got down on his knees, Aya then went on to knee him in the face. Once she did, she grew a manic smile and chuckled to herself.

"Hell yeah! Finally a life outside the island!"

She seemed almost manic, smiling to herself as she stood on the street of the barfight, some of the pirate breaking off to attack her but the most going into the bar still. Aya cracked her knuckles and prepared for more fighting.

Summary
Cher followed the rest to the bar and attempted to talk to Mary. After the bar fight started, and realizing that Higo was beside Iskander, the main target of the pirates, he attempted to cut straight through the pirates to the bar counter where Higo was. After coldly cutting down pirates without caring for their life, he infuriated them. Though surrounded and sustaining injuries, Cher is decisively making his way to Higo's side.
Despite their plans for introductions and the like, the red-haired captain herself strided on over to envelop Nessy in a big hug, before inviting them all to join her crew. A new crew, might he add. It seems that like Higo and himself, Nessy and this Captain Scarlet were mere remnants of their former crews. Though he wondered what their story was, such thoughts quickly left his mind as they were all ushered away by a concerned citizen with bloodshot orange-eyes.

After hearing that they had a ship, though in the midst of repair, Cherluca invisibly breathed a sigh of relief. It seems that his captain's plan was going extremely well, though he still did wonder how he knew that Nessy was a pirate. He certainly had his mysterious ways. Another mystery was this Lady Aquarius Nessy had mentioned... the name sounded faintly familiar, but perhaps that was just his imagination. He was never one to care for things like gods and religion, afterall.

"Well, bars don't usually sell seafood... but if it's by the coast, then maybe." He replied with a smile, mildly surprised that Higo remembered what he enjoyed eating. It wasn't that he doubted his captain's memory... Okay, maybe he did, but it was such a casual, insignificant thing that made his heart feel slightly warmer. He was glad that the month he spent searching for him, felt a bit more worthwhile.

The little bar they entered was dim and ordinary, nothing particularly special at all, a bit cheap-looking and dirty, even. But what immediately caught Cher's eye was the sight of glimmering gold, shining faintly orange in the poor lighting. Of course, he immediately realized that this fellow was a fish-man, one of their crewmates even, who Nessy called 'Mr. Andar' but still, it was a sight for sore eyes. Scenes of a time long gone filled his mind, where a mix of arms would wrap around his shoulders, his comrades would sing and cheer and the rough clanking of mugs filled the air. As the scene faded back to reality, and the foreigness of this new unfamiliar bar set in, he lowered his eyes slightly before immediately regaining his composure.

Originally, he wasn't sure whether to drink or not, as his new crew was full of strangers and something inadvertent may slip from his lips. But... After watching, or well, hearing Higo's loud demand for alcohol, he felt that perhaps he was just thinking too much. His comrades used to always enjoy making him drink with them, albeit with much coercion at first, so perhaps it was just a good way to bond with everyone. He was kind of a light drinker though... And when he gets too drunk, he supposedly becomes a bawling mess. He should probably avoid that situation if he wants to make a good first impression huh...

As Iskander introduced himself jovially, clearly rather intoxicated, Cher's eyes wandered to the the tall fish-woman who was assumingly also a member of this new Red Ribbon Pirate Crew. He felt that, since the bar was pre-occupied and all, he should try to make aquaintances with his new, though temporary, allies. A pirate crew was afterall quite similar to his knight's order back home, they were comrades in arms, and would have to rely on each other during combat, whether they liked each other or not.

Cher sidled on over, and looked up at the striped, blue-skinned stranger, though unable to meet her eyes due to her bangs.
"Are you a fish-woman? Where are you from?" He inquired in his usual calm and slow tone, though laced with his own genuine curiosity. After pausing for a moment, he backtracked a bit, realizing he might sound a bit aggressive. "...I used to live by the sea. I've met many or your kind, alongside merfolk. I mean you no harm-" He explained lightly, though somewhat re-arranging his words to avoid saying certain truths.

The last of his words were cut off, however, by the sound of a gunshot, causing him to immediately whip his head round to the source of the noise. A swarm of pirates rushed into the small, rickety establishment, all aiming their weapons and charging towards the golden-scaled fish-man sitting by his captain. There was also a giant humanoid rabbit-man sitting on the other side of him, but he was focused on the proximity of his captain to the impending chaos.

His crimson eyes immediately constricted, as he pulled out a dark-coloured spear from his back with ease and began making his way over to the bar counter. He cursed himself for choosing to talk to the new crew member farthest from Higo, as he intercepted a bunch of pirates who had charged into his way.

Blood immediately splattered the wooden floor as he swung his spear decisively, uncaring if those he struck would live or die. However, since he was diagonally making his way across the room, Cher was quickly surrounded in the center by the other pirates who had witnessed his crimes. Their anger, though initially set aflame by that screeching woman amongst them, rose to fury as they looked upon him.

Cherluca was someone extremely used to fighting to kill, not for fun or just to subdue the enemy, unless he was ordered to. Unless the battle was labelled with 'sparring match', he did not hold back, aiming for lethalities and fragile limbs as if it was second nature. There was, afterall, a reason why he used to be known as The Red Demon. Only once, did he make the mistake of showing mercy to a pitiful woman, who proceeded to shoot one of his closest friends in the back. Never again, would he make that mistake twice.

Though he could certainly hold his own, Cherluca was much weaker on land than the sea, due to one aspect: his legs. More than a decade of learning how to weave and dodge with his tail undersea, could not compare to the three years of mere adaption and combat training he did for his legs. It was easy to notice how he relied far more on his upper half to dodge and attack, whilst his legs usually remained firmly planted on the ground, with some occasional side-stepping.

The number of pirates far out-numbered those of their barely-put-together crew, but Cher remained calm, almost eerily so. He had one goal, to reach Higo's side, and fight alongside him. He had lost his captain once, and he refused to do so again.

The air in the room seemed to shift, as Cher began using the techniques engrained within him since childhood, slowly but surely battling his way to the bar counter, though of course, sustaining bruises and cuts due to his reckless action of cutting straight across the room, as well as infuriating the pirates.

Shu the kung-fu dewgong
Hard at work!
A bay on the far side of Lil' Amyth Island

After Andar left, Roam was left in a puzzled stare. Help? Shu could help, but what help? Shu already made all the javelins Andar asked and had nothing to do since. Its beady eyes returned Roam's gaze, questioning. Shu understood language, though Shu did not speak it. Andar told Shu to help Roam, so Shu would do what Roam said. Chop? He could chop!

Shu performed a bow and waddled to wherethe tools were. The axe and saw were larger than its body, but Shu did not give up! Shu grabbed on the saw (with some difficulty) and rested it on the line. Then it was time to work! Shu used Shu's whole weight to pull and push the saw, slowly cutting away at the wood. Push, pull, push, pull-

Wait! Shu's eyes glimmered. Idea! Smart!

"Roah!" Shu barked to Roam, who was already back at work, and pulled the saw back to its pile with the axe. Cut! Shu can cut! The kung-fu dewgong jumped to the air and chopped down at the plank! The plank cut cleanly on the line. Shu had cut! Shu barked again in excitement and dashed for more lines to cut. Chop here! Chop there! It was like training again!

Fish-Man karate technique, Structure Splitter!

"Roah, roah! After some time had passed, Shu tugged at Roam's leg with a proud expression. Shu had cut everything need cutting! It wanted to show Roam!

If Roam looked at the sky at that moment, he would catch a glance of a colorful bunch of feathers flying into the ship. Ramphasti the south bird was rarely seen on-board, often flying away after eating and taking a drink. It frequented a room in the ship every time, one of the earliest room Andar asked for Roam to finish: the insect habitat room.

This time, too, the south bird flew into the insect room before leaving once again. Its head kept facing south despite flying north, which made for a comical sight.

...the buzzing from the insect room got louder.

Mary Read
Regarding each of the new arrivals, the blue woman continues to smile warmly to each, raising a hand to below her chin flat "Of the places I have been I can honestly say a circus has not been one of them, I am but a girl who knows the way! but you can call me Mary."

Her face would turn and focus upon the captain themself when they finally speak up themselves, though her hair masked her upper face she gave the impression of staring deeply into the woman. The pirate queen was quite the goal, one that rested high in the air, a prize that many fell into the abyss trying to climb to reach. So she may stick along to see where that goes for ill or fortune, the name might not have fit her style but that was a minor concern. In any case, she had made her money here with the sold supplies so may as well roll the dice and see where they fall with this group.

So the choice made she continued to watch the various interactions from the side, for now, seeing the introduction of more into the fold. She had honestly expected something more of the process to gather new members, so there was the question of how many other these would remain, their motives, and the overall quality of character each held. The fellow blue hair however did appear to be a former member, so this meant they would be the most likely to stay.

Speaking of which she had to admit she was somewhat lost on the Aquarius character, assuming for a moment could possibly be an unknown person, and the fact their approval would be a concern for scarlet did imply they had some status. Her lips turn up slightly as a small laugh escapes her lips "Theft of a ship? Does that seem to be an action befitting of a pirate?. As you ponder that though i do believe i would be willing to join for a meal if you are seeking to provide on at this establishment."

Following along she goes to take her seat around the large table as the food and drinks are set to flow "Perhaps a fuller introduction perhaps? For the purpose of the crew, it should be Mary Read, Ocean guide to the destination of your choosing, though regarding the one piece that will likely take slightly more effort, and given its height requires one to climb to the peak of the world chaotic ladder before even its shadow can be glimpsed" she did appear about to continue but the sound of a gunshot did have her turn her attention, seeming to have more attention now on the coming conflict.

Despite the fighting, however, she remained seating with a drink in hand to softly sip as she watched on, one of the new crew members questioning her as she did, a dusty and slightly battered man "Hmm well that is quite a forward question and one that can have many answers depending on your point of view. If your question is based on my complexion there does exist the possibility it is Argyria, though as for the racial question I suppose you could call me and i have been called that, though I am no true fish. As for where I am from that has many answers indeed" Her tone remained playful in slightly teasing, the drink bobbing in her hand gently with casual ease despite the chaos, answering his question just before he lept as well into the bar brawl.

Nerissa (Nessy) Orta

“You’re being rude, Mr. Andar,” Nerissa rolled her eyes as the green and gold colored Fishman burst into laughter before stumbling to his feet and introducing himself. Bright side, Iskander didn’t seem to be sad. Downside, his drunken humor seemed to be at their expense. Well…at least he wasn’t moping and didn’t seem to mind giving up the Captain’s Hat. Not being convinced was no surprise as he’d only heard of Scarlet through Nerissa’s lips, but the aqua-haired priestess was certain her friend—the future pirate queen— would prove herself in time.

Keeping near Scarlet, Nerissa’s eyes nonetheless flickered curiously over to the walking rabbit next to Higo—who’d already rushed to get himself intoxicated. That was what pirates did, she supposed. Drinks, drinks, and more drinks. In all honesty, such things weren’t just limited to pirates that she’d seen. The Mirage Islanders loved to drink and party as well. Everyone did, whether they came from outside her isolated Island or not.

Nerissa didn’t have much experience with it until after leaving Mirage Island…but even then…she practiced moderation as it was harder to deliver Aquarius’s words while not in the right state of mind. Glancing around at the dusty tables that were fairly empty except for a few shifty-looking patrons, Nerissa repressed a sigh. It wasn’t the best-looking place to dine at…but at least it was discreet. A good spot for some introductions, and possibly an interview, into a pirate crew. Nothing difficult as Scarlet seemed ready to let whoever she wanted join them, but it was best to at least know what they were good at and what they could contribute—if anything—on a dangerous journey to the Grand Line. “Let’s have a seat over the—”

Then a gun shot sounded off.
79e9e301f72f9519a23660754ae04499--aladdin.jpg

Instinctively, Nerissa raised her staff, forming a barrier of swirling water around herself and whoever she was close to. Eyes flickering from the pirates gathered at the entrance to Mr. Andar who looked as relaxed as a happily inebriated Fishman ought to be, Nerissa didn't bother to hold back her sigh as she held the Staff of Aquarius out in front of her with both hands. “And there goes discreetness…” Pirates were certainly a rowdy lot. They knew the marines were coming, didn’t they?

“I object,” Nerissa replied to Andar's suggestion while maintaining the water barrier. “Why should fighting ability be a requirement for who gets in the crew or not? I think Miss Scarlet would agree with me that loyalty and strength of character matters more. Whatever issue you have with these headband-wearing pirates, I’m sure it will be fine if we can just talk it out—"

"GET THAT SEASCRAP!"

As the pirates rushed in, weapons drawn, she saw Cherluca slashing his way to Higo from where he'd been speaking to Mary Read, cuts and bruises forming on his body as he did so. Nerissa’s eyes narrowed. She didn't like seeing bloodshed, but she disliked seeing her comrades getting injured more. The Red Ribbons were only just starting to be reborn again. She didn’t want to lose another crew because of her reluctance to fight. Not this time. She’d left all the fighting to Arlen…her bodyguard…back then and now he was gone. Lost during the buster call of Mirestone. She closed her eyes and said a prayer. “Lady Aquarius, in your infinite mercy, please forgive your daughter and all us travelers of the sea for spilling blood upon your waters this day. In your benevolence, grant us salvation during these troubled times and strength so that we might carry out your divine will.”

When she opened her eyes, her gaze was determined and a tentacle of water emerged from the swirling barrier to whip away some the pirates that were attacking Cherluca with enough strength to send them flying back outside the bar. “Stop this at once! I won't let you hurt my new crewmates!”

Neither Iskander nor Cherluca. A friendly tavern brawl was one thing, but the moment guns and weapons were drawn, it'd become a battle...one that got innocents involved as well.

Alicia Harte
I41g59f.jpg

Alicia had kept back meekly staring on taking in the new faces while keeping quiet. It wasn't really in her place to speak after all. She didn't want to screw something up already as she felt she was overly prone to do. She couldn't help but glance at the woman Arabell who seemed to out of nowhere approached with an air of fury about her that terrified the girl far more then any others she encountered that day. An almost instinctual cowering to a scolding she might be expecting to come her way even though she had no reason to believe that would happen in the least bit. It was a lingering dread that seemed to pass as Nerissa spoke up formally introducing Invincible Higo and Cherluca causing Alicia to meekly nod in response not wanting to raise her voice and speak out of turn. It was best she did as little as she could that might upset someone.

Upon mentioning on getting a bite to eat the girl seemed a bit uneasy at the prospect. Nerissa did state it was a more reclusive place though, it couldn't be that bad like some of the taverns she heard of or even stumbled into accidentally before. Shivers going down her spine at the things she had done accidentally to one of the patrons with a lecherous hand. Sure it was wrong but... but... the very idea itself filling Alicia with dread at the amount of damage she had caused in response accidently. She still felt so bad for the amount of damage that place suffered because of one overly strong push. The only saving grace for her having been the fact she had been chased out by the owner who despite her pleads to pay him back seemed content on making the man she had tossed through the wall pay for it instead.

It was then her head had picked up she had noticed she had fell behind with only Higo seeming to be a bit behind himself catching up himself. The girl quickly shuffling forward holding her skirt as she ran. Her cheeks a light shade of red tearing up slightly.

"S...sorry sorry!" She called out as if she had been holding everyone up despite it seeming clear no one seemed to be waiting for her having not fallen too far behind in the process. Alicia swiftly following suit inside the establishment.

Her eyes glanced around as her fears seem to already be starting to come to fruition. The place was far from a very savior location. Many hardened glancing being felt over herself and the others as it was quite clear being a group they had made an immediate impression. She glanced about seeming quite meek attempting to cower towards one of her new 'shipmates' Higo who had been the closest though he was swift to depart leaving the girl more flustered shuffling about for cover again meekly shuffling over a bit closer towards Nerissa figuring her to be the most knowledgeable of such a place. Her eyes shifting to Andar who seemed to be the man the priestess had been speaking of before. He seemed tough though not that bad. Really just a...

Before she could think anymore the gunshot went off and pure chaos erupted.

I knew it, I knew it, I knew it! I knew nothing could would happen! What if I do something wrong again? Th.. this is bad!

Panic filled Alicia as she managed to find herself standing close to what seemed to be the target of the gunshot. How it felt as if she was a magnet for trouble, somehow pulling everyone else into her problems accidentally. It was all her fault... somehow! The girl trembled a bit teary eyed looking like a frightened animal uncertain what to do as pirates came rushing in seeming pumped for a fight. She witnessed the barrier Nerissa put up thankful for it though feeling as if she was still in far too risky a place. She had to move and hide somewhere as the fighting went on. She couldn't lift a hand, no. She didn't want to cause trouble. She didn't want anyone getting hurt. The girl seeming to shift in place in panic before turning to quickly move and run for cover under a table.

Little did she know one of their attackers had tried sneaking to the side sword drawn attempting to strike.

Alicia's seeming small frame crashed directly into the man. Rather then the expected tumble of Alicia to the ground with the man being perhaps briefly pushed back, instead the attacking pirate was suddenly throw across the room as if he had been struck by a barge. The mans body flying back smacking into a nearby table causing it to crack and partially flip over spilling all of the beverages and cards a few of the taverngoers had been playing to go tumbling over falling upon the man who was left all but dazed and confused on the floor in the partial rubble of the now tipped over table. Alicia's hands quickly cupping up in horror despite how clearly the man was going into do no harm.

"I'm... I'm sorry! I... i didn't mean to!" She spoke in a panic glancing back and forth looking to the bartender who was still quite smartly keeping ducked behind the counter given the first gunshot had gone off. Her plan to hide not having worked out so well as she had already taken out someone accidentally and a potential hiding place as well.

"Hell ya! I'm parched," is what Nicole would have said if she could have replied to the drink offer. But a gunshot just had to go off. "The hell?!" She wasn't expecting someone to shoot at her new crewmate. "Tsk..." She wasn't about to let their adventure end before it began.

With a fiery grin plastered on her face, she turned her attention to the buzzkill that interrupted her opportunity for drinking: the lady with the gun. She plopped her guitar case on the ground and cracked her knuckles.

"Keep her safe for me," she called out to Nerissa, referring to her guitar.

Like a bat out of hell, she charged into the fray; clotheslining the first thug that was trying to run by her. She quickly followed it up by kicking him from behind, knocking him into a table.

Pirates started to swarm around her and pulled out their knifes. "Really fellas?" What did the fishman do to get on these pirates' hitlist? She could come up with multiple reasons, but at the end of the day he was a crewmate, so she had to defend him.

She found a metal serving tray on a nearby table and started to use it as a shield; aiming kicks at the knees and groins of her assailants. She knocked one of them off balance and then smashed their head onto the table; knocking them out.

One down. More to go. The pirates closed in, reducing space for easy movement. Luckily for her, she had spent a lot of time in mosh pits. She slipped past them and started making her way back toward her crew for backup.

Captain Scarlet Johannah Indigrid
Red-haired-female-anime-character-digital-wallpaper-fantasy-.jpg
As could likely have been expected, Scarlet was overly joyed to hear that her old friend and crewmate would be joining them again on their quest to seek the One Piece. Her main concern had been that the violence on Mirestone might have scared the blue haired woman away. Apparently, it was motivation, though, rather than a deterrent against piracy. When Nerissa introduced the two companions standing behind her, Scarlet sheepishly realized that she didn’t know the names of all the people she had recruited yet. That was one thing she was bad at - remembering to ask other people for their names. She was always good about making sure they knew who she was, but she didn’t always feel the need to acquaint herself with their names. Then again, when Scarlet did learn someone else’s name, she was very good at remembering it. That being said, she committed the names Higo and Cherluca to memory.

“Aww. You’re no fun, Nerissa,” the captain whined when the priestess denied her the continued plan of stealing a ship. Secretly, though, she was grateful that they wouldn’t have to steal anything because she had no idea how strong the pirates coming to Lil’ Amyth would be and she still needed a bit more time to recoup after Mirestone before she would feel ready to face them again. It had been a very firm defeat, after all. “You do realize stealing things is part of being a pirate, right?” There had been some concern regarding how much about piracy this woman knew, but the captain hoped she would catch on quickly.

Nonetheless, Scarlet waved her arm in a gesture for everyone to follow as Nerissa led them forward on their journey.

Before they could get started, though, the red haired captain did notice the stranger wandering over to them and seemingly scolding them for being so public about their plans. Scarlet jumped into the woman’s face, passion in her tone. “Hey lady! You’re talking to the future Queen of the Pirates, you know? And I’m gonna make my name known around the globe because that’s what pirates do!” Scarlet was absolutely fierce, but she was also not angry with the woman. Rather, she wanted to make her beliefs known to everyone who had started following her.

Once that was settled, Scarlet followed Nerissa to the seedy bar where it seemed she would meet even more recruits that Nerissa had gathered for her. Or… well, one. However, he looked quite intimidating for being just one person and Scarlet had to admit his title caught her attention as well. She had actually heard of him while she had been sailing with Spades, but they had never actually encountered the Beastbound Pirates firsthand. She remembered thinking it was an interesting concept. However, then he mentioned that he “wasn’t convinced.” That got a fire going in Scarlet’s eyes and had there not been a gunshot shortly after that, she would have exploded into a rant about how great of a captain she was going to be. The gunshot did happen, though, so she had to address that first because this new opponent - group of opponents - was stealing all of the attention she needed to prove herself.

Or perhaps they’d created an opportunity to prove herself.

Just as she prepared to leap into action, Scarlet noticed that Nerissa was doing something magical with water and she instantly leapt back a small step away from the water wall. She wasn’t sure if that water qualified as the sea or not, but Scarlet did know that she didn’t mix well with actually being in water. However, she did take a moment to stare in amazement at what Nerissa was doing. “THAT IS SO COOL!” Scarlet proclaimed with excitement. “Keep up the good work, Nerissa!” Scarlet knew that cheering on her comrades could mean the difference between a loyal crew and one that committed mutiny. She certainly preferred the former.

For a moment, Scarlet watched as some of her crewmates leapt into the fight with lots of energy and excitement. That was certainly a good thing to have on a crew. She needed people capable of watching her back, just as she would watch theirs. Cherluca was taking on his fair share of them and though she didn’t see him in the mess, Scarlet imagined that the beastbound pirate would be in the fray as well. Nicole also dove right in, fighting in her own style. ‘Good. Good.’ She liked this group. They would do well on the Red Ribbon Crew. They also needed to know that their captain was capable of watching their backs, though.

Fading out of visibility was easy. Scarlet’s body assumed colors that camouflaged her in with the environment of the bar and adjusted when she moved around Nerissa’s water wall and made her way towards the opposing pirate crew. Throwing punches left and right, it looked as though they were being struck by an invisible force and she moved with enough agility to avoid the reflexive strikes they tried to throw back at her clumsily. Eyes bruised on some of the men. But then things got even more interesting as the fire haired captain pulled her saxe knife and started slashing them at the knees. Men fell down out of the blue as blood squirted from their legs - still from a source that was not quite there. Anyone studying hard enough would of course notice that there was something moving around. Her camouflage wasn’t perfect, after all, but in the midst of a bar fight, the combatants couldn’t quite catch it.

Emerging on the other side of where the opposing crew had been gathered, Scarlet watched as the remainder of her crew took out those who remained after she walked through. She was curious to see which of her crewmates stayed on the sidelines and which ones jumped in.

As it seemed like they had won the fight, though, the captain came back into visibility, still wielding her saxe knife. She had a rapier at her hip, though it hadn’t been drawn that fight. “Convinced now!?” That question was directed straight at Iskandar. “Those of you who choose to follow me will be the Red Ribbon Pirates! It will not be easy because we seek a treasure that everyone wants. However, I trained under Captain John Spades and I know how to lead.” That was the name drop of the century. Captain John Spades had been the most terrifying pirate on the Grand Line for at least the last five years - even more than the Beastbound Pirate - although his crew had seemingly vanished within the past month or so. Scarlet knew that was because he had headed to bigger worlds with bigger fish to fry, but it wasn’t common knowledge yet. “On the crew, I expect everyone to contribute something. It may not be combat and it may not seem like much, but everyone keeps the ship afloat.”

Her eyes scanned the faces she looked upon, seeking any hesitation. “WHO’S WITH ME!?”

After throwing some punches at random people, the chocolate-skinned girl would rush into the bar, almost blending in as a crew of the pirates, however instead of attacking anyone, she lept atop the bar counter and grabbed two bottles which she threw up into the air. Seeing the people were capable fighters she assumed this wouldn't burn down the town, so she opted for it.

As the bottles flew in the sky, she pulled her bow off her back and nocked back two arrows at once, shooting them through the bottles to spray alcohol all over nearby pirates, before leaping to the roof and hanging from the chandelier. "
Hey! You guys know how to fight!" She said, handing with her head right in front of (I didn't think this far.. uh..) Nicole (i guess).

After the alcohol splattered down, she'd twist her legs and detach the chandelier, making it fall down onto two people before lighting the entire area on fire due to the alcohol. Aya grinned and punched a guy in the face when he tried to get himself someplace away from the fire. After that she kinda just grabbed a seat, she had had her fun now.

-------

Upon hearing Scarlet's call to arms, Aya realized this was an easy way to get off the island and maybe, if she stuck around long enough, she could see more of the world. Deciding on it, Aya stood up and raised a hand, looking Scarlet in the eyes with a grin. "
Is there a place for me on the ship? I wanna see places, do things. As for skills, I'm great at tracking and searching, and no one can beat my aim with a bow and arrow." Aya crossed her arms and placed all her weight on one leg, whilst standing on her toe on the other just cause. "Plus, I need a way off of this goddamn island."

Getting comfy on his stool, Higo cupped his hands excitedly. It had felt like ages since he had a proper drink, and he was ready to guzzle down a couple of tankards. Before that could happen, though, his attention was brought over to the person Nerissa called 'Mr. Andar' with an open eye and a raised brow. Looking at the man, there was no question that he was a fishman, a species Higo had seen commonly around the Grand Line. The most notable thing about him was the gold scales that adorned his body. Upon seeing them, Higo put a hand on his chin, a small grin on his face, "Those could be useful…" He thought. In the mind of a stereotypical pirate, looking at Iskandar would most likely fill their thoughts with greed, but Higo wasn’t your average pirate…

Before he could ponder the idea fully, the man in question, reviewing everyone that had been brought together so far, demanded his attention. As Higo knew his eyes were coming towards him, he leaned onto the counter, putting on a confident smile as he brushed the hair out of his face.

Only to be called a jokester.

A vein popped out of his forehead as he tried to keep the self-assured smile. Clearly, there had to be some mistake… "Oi, you didn’t mean me when you said ‘jokester’, right?" He said, his voice slowly faded into the background as he failed to get the attention of the fishman.

Higo grit his teeth in anger, as if he’d let this fish-man get away with calling HIM a jokester! He placed a hand on the counter, prepared to stand up off his stool and give the pirate a piece of his mind.

But as he left a single inch of the seat, Iskandar properly introduced himself, and most importantly, stated his bounty.

"N-N-NINE MILLION BELI!!?!?!?" The number shot right from Iskandar’s mouth, piercing through Higo’s heart like an arrow as he tumbled back onto his stool, it rocking like a surfboard during high tide as he clutched his chest in surprise. He breathed heavily, sweat dripping down his brow as his pupils shook. "That was close! I was about to pick a fight with someone who has a bounty like that!?" Higo frantically thought, picking his head up to look at the fish-man again. While he certainly hadn’t heard of the man before now, he was clearly a force to be reckoned with.

"Urk!" Higo recoiled when the Beastbound Captain patted his shoulder, his blood running cold and his face turning pale as he tried to avoid directly looking at him. As he told his tale of recently losing his crew to Marines, Higo couldn’t help but relate. He had lost numerous crews before to different situations and mishaps, and while they were numerous, he was never able to let any of them go.

He closed his eyes as his mind began to drift off to the thoughts of his past crews, but it was shattered into pieces by a bullet that pierced right through it. His eyes shot open, as his head shakily turned, a nervous twitch on the corner of his lips as he was faced with a fresh bullet hole that pierced right into the wooden counter. Gunpowder surrounding the impact point and smoke rising from it; there was no question of what had just happened.

Listening to Iskandar and Nerissa talk about what should qualify someone to be part of the crew puts a bad taste in his mouth. What does it matter about someone's strength, character, or loyalty? Things like that are what people go to the sea to grow! Anyone who’s brave enough to take the danger that comes with being a pirate was sure to be suitable enough for the crew! He had half the mind to come over to both of them and give them a piece of his mind.

And he would...If he wasn’t currently hiding behind the counter, on his knees peeking over the top. Watching the fight commence, his eyes darted this way and that, with how many people there were in the bar, it was almost hard to keep track. Luckily, their assailants had marked themselves with red headbands.

Looking at their numbers, Higo was relieved he didn’t have to go into the fray, after all they had a pirate with a ฿9,000,000 bounty on their side! He quickly looked over to where Iskandar was to see what damage he had already done--

He was just simply over there talking to an oversized rabbit!

"Wait, an oversized rabbit?" Higo questioned, taking a double take. He took the imaginary glasses off his face, blowing on them and rubbing them on his clothes before sliding them back on.

No, he was still there. And Higo hadn’t had anything to drink yet.

Higo’s plain expression suddenly shifted into one sanity broken joy, as a huge forced smile graced his face, a bright and flower filled aura encompassing him. "So there really is a giant rabbit! Cute!~" He said, before letting out a girlish chuckle.

"...AS IF!" His hands gripped the wood of the counter as the veins popped out the back of his hands, a small creak coming from the wood from the amount of grip strength he was using. Why was the strongest person here just sitting out the fight? Is this supposed to be a joke!?

Higo’s annoyance-filled focus on Iskandar was broken though, as he heard the pained screams and grunts of pirates slowly inching closer. His eyes shooting over, he saw Cherluca slicing and stabbing through his opponent as he made a straight line right towards Higo. Looking at him with his red eyes, covered in blood from his enemies, Higo couldn’t help but feel a small chill go down his spine. "Ah, Cher. I’m so happy you’re on my side…!~" He thought, a single tear of joy coming out of his eye. "You do your job so well! Coming over here to defend your captain from danger! I couldn’t ask for anything better!" Higo clenched a fist as he tried to hold back the waterworks, feeling nothing but appreciation for his crew mate.

...Wait a minute, aren’t there a lot more pirates coming this way BECAUSE of him?! The tear coming from Higo’s eye got sucked right back up as he realized that Cherluca’s display was bringing more attention! Attention that would also transfer over to him if he got too close! Higo’s eyes nearly popped out of his head as he realized this, raising his hands and frantically pushing them in front of himself, "WAIT! WAIT! DON’T COME ANY CLOSER!" He shouted towards Cherluca. But, in the midst of the battle, he doubted his pleas would reach the man’s ears. Higo looked around frantically, he had to do something, or he would end up right in the heat of battle. As he turned around and looked behind him, a light bulb flashed above his head as he raised a finger.

He disappeared behind the counter, only for a moment as the sounds of a lot of shifting came from his vicinity, It sounded like a bunch of things made of different materials clashing together. The mystery of what the sound was didn’t last long though, as Higo popped right back up from behind the counter, his arms stuffed full of various things he had picked up from behind the counter. Picking up a single glass bottle from the heap, Higo raised it above his head in preparation to throw it.

HIGO’S SPONTANEOUS SPECIAL SKILL:
LUNCHTIME FRENZY

Like a gatling gun, Higo began to throw things with a surprising amount of speed, from things such as fruit, bottles of wine, and tankards, they all came flying right at the headband wearing pirates. "ORA! ORA! ORA!" He shouted as he relentlessly continued his assault. The pirates raised their arms and legs in an attempt to block the things that were getting pelted at them, but Higo didn’t stop. It went on endlessly, until finally a well-placed throw sent a bottle flying right towards an unsuspecting pirate’s head, knocking them to the ground unconscious.

"YOSHAAAA!" Higo shouted out in success, pumping a fist up in the air, only for a gunshot to whiz by his head, making him instantly drop behind the counter again. Slowly peeking the top his head back from the counter, he looked back at Cherluca to see…

He was still coming this way with a bunch of pirates!

"NOOOO!" Higo grasped the sides of his head, He had no other ideas! This was gonna be the end for him! He’d get thrown in the battle and get stabbed twice and shot thrice! Probably even kicked a couple of times too!

Then, out of nowhere, a whip of water came from off-screen, sending a good chunk of the pirates flying right outside the bar doors. Higo’s expression of agony cooled down like ice into one of relief. He had almost forgotten, there were other allies in this fight as well.

Renewed with a sense of vigor, he hopped up onto the counter, He wasn’t afraid anymore! The other members of this crew could easily take care of these small fries. Looking over what remained of the fight, he took in the scene of the fight, a smug smile on his face as he felt a small sense of pride for this crew he was ‘part’ of.

Though, that pride melted away as he looked over and saw another member of the crew who was simply sitting there, having no sense of urgency despite the ongoing battle. Looking between Mary and Iskandar, Higo had a deadpan expression as he scratched the side of his face. "You guys are way too carefree," he lamented. But as the blur of someone's body passed by his vision, his lips pursed as he looked over to see one of the pirates hucked over a cracked table, wet and covered in playing cards. Higo blinked at this, as he used a finger to trace the trajectory right back to…No, that can’t be right. Once more. …

Higo looked at Alicia, who was in the process of apologizing profusely, his eyes squinting as his nose scrunched up. Raising a hand and waving it dismissively in disbelief. "No, no way. Nope. Not a chance. " He continued on, refusing to believe such an attack came from the woman.

He probably would have kept this up for a while, if his position on top of the counter didn’t end up catching the attention of one of the pirates. As the pirate raised his flintlock, Higo heard the distinctive click that caused his head to whiz over to look at the source. His eyes bulged out of his head as fear was apparent on his face. He had gotten too cocky, and jumping onto the counter where everyone could see him was about to backfire.

However, just before the pirate could fire at him, from seemingly thin air, his head was knocked upwards as if he had just received an uppercut, spit coming out of his mouth from the force as he fell backwards. Higo’s mouth went agape in surprise, as he looked around frantically for an answer as to what had just happened. "W-What was that!? Divine intervention?" He questioned. As his view darted around, he realized that the same thing was happening to other pirates as well. Almost like a whirlwind, something moved through the pirates, hitting them with powerful strikes over their bodies. Those that didn’t get knocked out by one blow would try to fight back only to receive another. Then, out of nowhere, these punches were traded for slashes, as a phantasmal force sliced at the enemies legs, causing them to tumble to the ground and scream out in pain as blood gushed from their cuts. Higo watched on with his mouth hanging open, trying to make sense of it all.

He was so focused on trying to figure it out, he didn't even notice as a chandelier came crashing down behind him, starting a fire that was sure to cause some property damage.

Was this some kind of special ability? A vengeful ghost? ...A Devil Fruit ability? And if so, who’s? As the fight came to a close, he would get his answer, as Scarlet seemingly phased back into existence, a dagger in hand.

"An ability that allows the user to turn invisible? Or maybe a ghost? I don’t fully understand it yet," HIgo contemplated, putting a finger on his chin. "...Though, It seems I underestimated this woman," His eyes narrowed, "She’s dangerous."

As Scarlet began her speech, Higo heard a name that would clue in how much he truly underestimated her, even if he didn’t realize it yet.

Captain John Spades.

"Isn’t that name familiar? John Spades...John Spades…."

ezgif.com-gif-maker (48).gif

An assortment of bodily fluids shot out of Higo’s eyes, nose, and mouth as he flew up in the air, spiraling like a popped balloon before he bounced into a nearby wall, only to fling off it and bump into another one like a ball in a pinball machine before finally landing on top of a table, causing it to fall over on top of him. Lying on the ground with his eyes rolled back into his head, he twitched like a suffocating fish as drool pooled out the corner of his mouth.

This girl...she trained under one of the Yonko?! One of the strongest crews on the sea!? There's no way that could be true! But if it was true, then…

He had allied himself with a potentially big fish.

Pushing himself up from the ground, Higo looked back up at Scarlet. He couldn’t view her the same any longer, She wasn’t any average rookie pirate, she had the potential to be a dangerous rival to him. Her desire to be the ruler of all pirates may rival his own.

But, as it stood right now, Higo wasn’t her enemy. Better yet, being her ally provided a perfect chance to observe her and possibly make his life easier in the long run if he ever had to go toe to toe with her. He would have to pay attention to her and the rest of the crew that formed around her.

Even though he was in the midst of conniving against Scarlet, he couldn’t disagree with what she was saying. Everyone on the crew should contribute, It might not be as much as others, but every part of the crew helps make the journey easier. Higo couldn’t help himself as he smirked a little at her statement. "Well, she may still be a greenhorn," Higo thought, rubbing the back of his neck, "At least she knows how to talk like a captain when it counts."

He didn’t hesitate to step forward, putting back on his courageous façade, putting his hands on his hips. "I’d certainly say you’ve proved yourself capable enough!" His voice boomed, as he splayed his hands out, puffing out his chest.

"REJOICE! For the INVULNERABLE, UNSTOPPABLE AND MARVELOUS HIGO-SAMA WILL JOIN YOUR CREW! BURAHRAHRAHRAHA!"

...It might end up being to his benefit to stay with these fools longer than expected.

Arabell Overcast

Arabell squinted at the rocker woman, although she seemed to have some air in her head the rest of it was at least reasonable enough for her. Looking round at the others some names and faces were starting to match up in her head, right right...there were other captains here t-

Scarlet's face being shoved right into her own very quickly set her off, gritting her teeth and going in herself, leading to the woman clashing foreheads with the young captain. "Huuuuuh!?" Intoned the doctor who's face was now set in a kinda gross looking glare, a vein popping up on her forehead and her voice becoming more annoying by the second, "Gonna be a biiiig cool Piwate King from a Pwison Cell eeeeh? Gonna get the One Pwiece when your sleepin with the fishes HUUUUUUH!?"

If there was one thing Arabell didn't have patience for it was people with a complete lack of self preservation, they were always gonna be the most annoying types to patch up, if they even had the frigging CHANCE to get patched up! Arabell, who was suddenly lacking in the reason department, grabbed Scarlet by the collar. Like HELL was she gonna let some hopeless kid get a big head over things she seems to refuse to understand!

Aaand then a shot rang out through the bar.

Arabell was quick to shove herself away from Scarlet and squeak in fear at the sudden bar fight that was breaking out. Usually she would be too drunk to have self preservation during one of these, blindly cheering the side that looked like they were winning. But she wasn't drunk now! Just hungover, and MAN did that gunshot make her brain seize up in pain. Arabell would have to let go of her little altercation with the so called Pirate queen and find herself somewhere safe to hide!

She quickly looked around! And found no where that looked that safe! Her eyes however did catch something, a girl who toppled one of the men over with a great amount of ease who also looked like she would break down crying. Perfect!

The Doctor scrambled around the bar until she could find herself behind the shy looking girl, grabbing onto her shoulder and hunkering down a bit behind her, as if using her like a human shield. "You just make sure I don't get hurt, kay Little Lady~?" Arabell asked in the sweetest voice she could muster, which might have been a bit of a whiplash considering the earful and potential fist fight she was offering Scarlet just a few moments ago.

Looking over her likely unwilling shield, it was a cluster of fighting, attacks, and lots and lots of yelling. Including a water...magic...thing? Arabell didn't know, and she really couldn't care at the moment because one of the men fell over in the most disgusting manner possible. The Doctor side of her wondered if he was alright, the Arabell side of her really wished he didn't do all of that.

Oh and the Yonko thing. Yeah that was kind of a reason Scarlet needed to not ever be found out by the Marines. Though, even Arabell had to admit, there was something at least...a Little inspiring about this shouty, Naïve girl.

Considering how Cherluca's choice of weapon was bladed and not blunt, he and his surroundings were very quickly covered in crimson, some his own, though most from the victims of his abyssal spear. The faint taste of iron in his mouth, mixed with the stench of a bloody, sweaty bar filled with chaos and fighting, disgusted him. Deep in the sea, no matter how much blood was shed, it would all quickly be washed away by the ever-present water currents. Here and now, his senses were overwhelmed by the stench and noise.

Fighting on the surface is such a hassle.

He thought to himself calmly, whilst slicing an arm wildly swinging at him and elbowing a man deeply in the ribs who was sneaking up on him from behind. Still, Cher had no choice but to adjust.

Lightly turning his head to avoid a punch, his eyes noticed what seemed to be a glowing blue bubble in the distance, which seemed to be expanding into a kind of magical barrier. He couldn't stay to look at it, considering his situation, but he wondered what on earth that aqua-haired lady was doing over there... and how she could control water. He knew that his people, both the fishmen and merfolk, could learn a combat style which enabled them to use water to fight... but what about her, or rather, Nessy? Was this one of those fabled devil fruits? He had many questions... ones he would inevitably ask or find out about later, as he was suddenly distracted by his captain's movements through the crowd.

Is he... waving at me? No, what does that gesture mean? Is it a command?

His long green-haired captain seemed to both be gesturing and yelling at him with much enthusiasm, though he couldn't make a single word out and proceeded to cut through the enemies in front of him at a quicker pace in order to reunite with him faster.

Not a moment later, Cherluca's heart dropped as Higo, that towering fellow, had abruptly vanished from his sight. Narrowly dodging a blow from a wooden club, his eyes were wide as he scanned his surroundings. Fortunately, his worries didn't have time to escalate as his target quickly re-appeared in his sight... and began furiously pelting the headbanded pirates with fruits, bottles and mugs.

Oh... I see. He wanted me to lure them over so that he could ambush them.

Cherluca concluded mentally, as he hastened his pace to draw more pirates over for Higo's assumed scheme.

Just as he was about to tackle a brute of a man more than a head taller than him, a watery, translucent tentacle whipped out from behind him, sending both the man he needed to get past and many others straight out of the bar door.

Good aim.

He thought subconsciously, mentally reminding himself to thank Nessy later before quickly proceeding forward in the emptied space as he commended the lack of property damage. He certainly couldn't say the same for his own methods, but he was in a bit more of a dangerous situation.

Just as Cher chided himself for getting distracted in the midst of battle, a man suddenly shot out from the side of his peripheral vision, before smacking into a table and spilling mugs and playing cards all over himself. Others had spilt and broken furniture... but not at all to this extent, considering this attack emerged from across the room. He mentally took note that they had an ally with such powerful physical strength, and pondered asking about a spar sometime when they were at sea. Though he felt he'd definitely lose, he could probably learn a lot from it.

Slowly, the pirates numbers dwindled as more of their allies jumped into the fray. He faintly noticed the rockstar's distinct hair in the distance, alongside a brown-haired stranger, throwing fists and/or weaving through the crowd. He also noticed that some of the enemy pirates began to randomly drop to ground for no reason, though, he had no time to question why/how, as he was distracted by the distinct sound of a gun clicking.

He was close enough to Higo by now to see him relatively clearly... alongside the barrel of the gun aimed at him.

Cher's entire world froze as he stared at the pirate's smug grin, the ready-loaded gun and the finger on the trigger. Helplessness weighed down upon him as he raced through his options, before coming to the inevitable conclusion that there was nothing he could do that would be faster than pulling that trigger. Overwhelming memories of thousands of corpses rushed into his mind as he abruptly stopped moving, allowing a pirate to slash his cheek deeply with a dagger.

'Hey, Cher.'

'Can you protect anyone?'

---

Fortunately, Higo was saved, by the ghost that quickly came to be known as Scarlet.

But Cher could not return to that same state of steady calmness, as he helped clean up the last of the pirates without a word.

The ferocious chandelier fire, Scarlet's speech and the stranger asking to join, though Cher had registered these events mentally, his mind was elsewhere as he mindlessly followed Higo around. He emotionlessly watched his captain bounce around the walls, crashing onto a table and onto the floor, before picking himself back up. Even his booming arrogant speech that destroyed his eardrums was ignored, as Cher buried himself in thoughts that would lead him nowhere.

Mary Read
Still watching the scenes play out she took note of how each perspective member went about the brawl, the movements of their muscles, and their abilities were naturally of great interest to Mary given she was likely to be travelling with them. There were a few in particular that jumped out amongst them all, the water witch seemed to be performing some strange variation of Fishman karate with water-based attacks, the maids strength and the captain's skin shifting ability was also an interesting twist, it was not entirely new to her given several species were capable of similar feats but it was the first time seeing a human do it.

Speaking of the water witch, it seemed her earlier wonder about this Aquarius was a little misplaced as she heard her words, it became clear to her it was not in fact a person but instead a figment of some obscure religion, that was a little disappointing all things considered as she had been looking forward to meeting someone who had sway over the captain. In any case, it was clear by the flow of the fight that her own involvement really wasn't needed, especially when it was far more beneficial just to observe for now.

"This crew has little need for guidance at the moment, nor need for a fighter in this brawl...it would not be sporting and frankly closer to bullying. So my contributions will remain in reserve for now less they be wasteful. Still, I already decided you come along and you will find me quite a bother to remove once I latch onto an idea." she lets out another small laugh before putting the drink down on what remained of the table as she responded to the Captain. "Though it seems my luck has held given your mention of Spades, despite it being quite the outlandish claim it can tell it is true, given those who invoke that name frivolously are using it to dig their own grave"

She continued to smile at the rest, from the enthusiastic and animated Higo to the antagonistic Arabell, and seemed to be going to speak once more, right as it seemed one of the collapsed attackers who had got thrown had the smart idea of sneaking up and attempting to take a hostage of sorts by placing a knife to Marys's neck from behind.

"Stay Back! We just wanted that blasted fish you're going to regret taking out my....AGH!" The man's voice suddenly raised in pitch several octaves as the blade dropped from his hands into the girl's lap, hands dropping down to his lower regions. Seemingly having shown no reaction to the threat and still sitting in the same relaxed position, her arm appeared to have snapped backward with the elbow joint bending the opposite way to tightly clutch two particular jewels of sorts in a vice-like grip.

"Firstly you started it so the results fall on you, Secondly please read the room and quit while you are ahead. Such as that fellow over there" she raises a hand to gesture to a man unconscious face down at the other end of the room "He didn't get hit once but the moment the other started falling he just laid down and is pretending to have been knocked out so he doesn't get beaten up" the seemingly unconscious figure she was gesturing at now appeared to be sweating profusely. Another yelp would emit from the man in her grasp as she tightens her grip ever so slightly "Thirdly, We are in the middle of something so do not be rude....there will not be a four but i am keeping your knife" she picks up the item between two fingers swaying it back and forth as she turns back to smile up at the screaming fellow with the same smile, her playful tone has not changed at all during the exchange. The moment she releases the man he would collapse to the floor before quickly scampering away on all fours, Mary herself simply turning back to the crew and picking up her drink once more "Hmm now where were we?" her head tilting down to look at the contents of the mug for a second before pursing her lips and holding it out to the side "Also Bar Keep, May i get a Refill?"

Nerissa (Nessy) Orta
30401e1b.jpg

At first, Nerissa was confused about who the ‘her’ she was tasked to protect was.

However, seeing the short-haired girl plop her guitar to the ground, it wasn’t hard to deduce that Scarlet’s fist-cracking friend was referring to her instrument. Nodding her head, Nerissa picked up the case as the musician clotheslined a pirate that turned towards them, leaping straight into the fray. The girl’s fighting-style reminded her a bit of Arlen, who too practiced an un-orthodox style of using whatever he could around him as weapons…though he typically carried his sword with him…and he didn’t seem to care as much for his flute as the girl did her guitar. Both seemed to like dealing with things up close and personal. Both had similar colored skin…so it was easy for the images to overlap a bit in Nerissa’s mind.

Just a bit though.

Snapped back to focus by Scarlet’s words, Nerissa focused her attention on maintaining the barrier to block any stray bullets while providing support to her allies where she could, a light blush forming on the priestess’s cheeks at the Captain’s compliments. She replied proudly. “Of course Lady Aquarius’s powers are cool. Everything about Lady Aquarius is cool~”

Scarlet displayed some cool powers of her own when she ‘vanished’ into the fight…though Nerissa didn’t fail to notice the way her friend had stepped back to avoid the water at first. Supernatural powers? An aversion to water? Could it be…? Nerissa shook her head. Now wasn’t the time to question whether Scarlet had eaten the fruit of the Devil and become rejected by Aquarius. Dealing with the pirates that attacked the bar—and her comrades—came first. A whip of water once more shot out to split apart a group of pirates that tried to use their greater numbers to their advantage, knocking them back so that they wouldn’t hurt her allies. However, with Scarlet not being easily visible, Nerissa couldn’t go wild with her abilities less she accidentally strike the young Captain—who she couldn’t exactly see—in the chaos as well…so she chose to keep her back to the wall and remain on the defensive, smiting only those that came after her with the power of Aquarius.

It wasn’t like Nerissa intended to kill anyone anyway.

Fortunately all the fighting quickly came to an end. Victory was theirs. Unfortunately, the tavern looked to be a right mess. Blood. Water. Splintered wood. Tables knocked back. Broken chandelier. Food on the floor. Fire. Sighing, Nerissa maneuvered the barrier of swirling water with a wave of her staff and dumped it over the flames while Scarlet spoke to the rest of the tavern, repeating the process until all the fire was put out. Only then did she reply to Scarlet’s question, “I’m with you, Captain Scarlet.”

Not Captain John Spade. She didn’t even know who that was, so name dropping them did little to affect Nerissa’s opinion, but seeing Higo’s reaction, she guessed they must be someone important. Not that it really mattered to her. Scarlet could be commoner or related to the King of the Pirates himself, but it wouldn’t change the fact that she was Nerissa’s friend. Personally, Nerissa thought it better that she acquired crewmates based on her own merits rather than gather people who were only drawn to a famous name…but everyone had to start somewhere. Besides, the name seemed to work at garnering interest…and she could always read up on it later…especially since she signed up for a WENP subscription while being cared for on Fishman Island.

Hard to look for Arlen without being informed of the Worlds’ on-goings.

Glancing at the others who answered the Red Ribbon’s call for followers—and the ones who didn’t—Nerissa curtsied and introduced herself. “Nerissa Orta, from the Temple of Aquarius on Mirage Island. I'm good at reading, writing, gardening, swimming...but for this crew, I will be the one that records all the details of our journey so that the tale of Red Ribbon Pirates will be forever remembered by future generations. May the blessings of the Great Lady of the Sea guide us to our goals no matter what they may be. ”

Straightening, Nerissa turned to the short haired musician and held out the case she’d been carrying by the handle. Staff in one hand and guitar case in the other, Nerissa couldn't deny that she was getting a bit tired as her upper body strength wasn't the best, but she didn’t want to use water to lift it lest she damage the instrument inside. “Here’s your guitar, by the way. I did my best to keep it safe.”

She tensed when one of the pirates approached Mary from behind, prepared to send a bullet of water his way, but it was unnecessary worry as she watched the blue woman's arm bent backwards to handle the assailant herself. Nerissa sighed in relief. Strange as the Fishman(?)'s extreme flexibility may be, Nerissa had seen all sorts of strange things since leaving Mirage Island, so more strangeness didn't particularly bother her. From Scarlet turning invisible to the small maid accidentally knocking a much larger man across the room to the walking rabbit beside Mr. Andar, she'd already concluded that the world beyond Mirage island was full of all sorts of wonders. As soon as the guitar was returned to its proper owner, Nerissa made her way to the counter where the bartender—who was no longer hiding—rushed to prepare Mary’s ordered drinks. Whether it fear for his manhood or eagerness to make some quick coin from paying patrons, Nerissa couldn’t say. “I apologize for all the disturbance we may have caused you and your establishment, Sir Barkeep, but…if it’s possible…can you pack us some food as well? Preferably something that doesn’t easily spoil…”

Procuring a green jewel from her satchel, Nerissa slid the gem towards the bartender. She didn’t know how many she had left, but it hardly mattered at this point. Hopefully the poor man could use to repair some of some of the damages. Or rather, hire someone to. The responsible thing to do would be to clean up after all the mess they made, but, given all the attention they’d drawn, it was better to leave sooner than later. Sir Roam was probably waiting by the ship as well.

Still…her eyes flickered to all the bodies that lay bleeding on the floor (granted some of them were faking it). Then to Cherluca with all the cuts on his skin and the maid who was still trembling her apologies. Was it alright to leave things like this? Worse than when they came? Nerissa couldn't help but wonder what sort of crew Scarlet wished for the Red Ribbons to become. A sign of fear? A sign of hope? Had Scarlet even thought that far ahead? Nerissa smiled. Probably not.

“Unless properly treated, these injuries will leave behind a scar…” Walking over to the trembling woman with the gun who started the fight—likely the Captain of the headband-wearing pirates—Nerissa removed the weapon from her unresisting hands. The shock of losing so badly despite the numbers advantage must’ve shaken her. That or the shock of seeing so many strange sights in one sitting. One or the other. “So if you care about your crew, take them and leave. This battle is over." The first battle of the newly reborn Red Ribbon Pirates. "The Red Ribbon Pirates have won.”

The woman ran, leaving her unconscious crewmates(?) behind.

Nerissa sighed. Not all Captains were made of the same cloth. Pirates were criminals. That much was true. Who knew how many vile acts they might've committed in the name of greed? Notoriety? But, unlike the marines, they didn’t mask their bad actions behind the ‘law’ of the World Government. They were free. They made their own laws. Nerissa’s laws revolved around Aquarius(which the government didn't approve of)…but, as head priestess, even she knew some of those laws were written by mortal hands. Therefore, when she left Mirage Island, against the wish of some of her fellow priests, she knew she was following her own laws. She was only human, after all…and she had desires as well. Nerissa only hoped that, if Scarlet insisted on stealing, she didn’t steal in a way that hurt others. That she stole in a way that brought joy to many more instead.

One Piece was technically the treasure of one Gold D. Rodger, after all…one he’d likely stolen from others.

Kneeling by one of the more grievously injured pirates, Nerissa set aside her staff, reached into her satchel, pulled out a roll of bandages, and started to—very awkwardly—bind up his wounds. He didn’t look like he’d be walking again anytime soon, but if she could stop the bleeding it at least wouldn’t become life threatening. The marines, when they showed up, could take care of the rest. “Miss Mary is right, you know. It's your fault for starting this. If only you’d talked out whatever issue you had with Mr. Andar instead of resorting to violence, you’d still have a leg. I'm not a doctor, you see, so I can only offer you what little skills I have and my prayers. ”

Nicole Robbins

Nicole flinched as Aya's upside down face suddenly appeared in front of her. She flashed the woman a punky smirk. "You're not too bad yourself," she replied.

With the battle won, Nicole looked over the handiwork of her crew. Her attention quickly turned to her captain as she started to speak.

Captain John Spades. She remembered hearing the name. He was a personal favorite of many patrons back at her local bar, but she had been too focused on her music to follow his pirate career. It was an impressive name drop, but Nicole was purely following her gut instincts when it came to joining the Red Ribbon Pirates.

"I'm with you all the way, Captain!" Nicole loudly proclaimed.

“Here’s your guitar, by the way. I did my best to keep it safe.”

"Thanks," Nicole said to Nerissa. She took her guitar case and opened it up. "You took good care of her." She flashed the Aquarius priestess a big grin.

Following Nerissa's introduction, Nicole did one of her own after playing a fiery riff on her guitar. "Nicole Robbins is the name. Rock n' Roll is the game. My burning soul will fuel moral on the crew. If you're feeling down, my music can turn it around; but if that's not enough, I'm also a shoulder you can lean on."

She pointed her thumb at herself and gave it a few seconds for her introduction to sink in.

"Yo, Iskandar. Can we still get those drinks?"

Alicia Harte
I41g59f.jpg

Alicia had remained as she was hand cupped over her mouth still apologizing with the whole act of hiding being put on hold. Fortunately for her it seemed no other pirates had decided to come charging her way... mostly as her companions seemed to be taking care of it. The fighting all being caught from the corner of her eye clearly not being one to take it all in far too distracted with who she accidentally had sent flying herself. It was something she did... something that could carry consequences, even if a firm look around as several pirates went down taken out by nearly all of her future fellow crewmates with even her new Captain taking part in the fray. Her mind only could see fault with herself and a lingering fear she might lead something bad to...

Fortunately (or unfortunately depending on how one looked at it) the Maid girl was suddenly thrown away from her lingering fear and shot back into reality. She felt the woman's hands upon her shoulders as she heard the rather voice, the intimidating one from before. Instead of harsh though it sounded sweet, almost frighteningly so like some menacing monster speaking out in the darkness after having bore witness to it talking about another and devouring them in a whole gulp only moments before. Alicia blinked seemingly confused at first before her cheeks turned bright red fully processing what was going on. Her hands suddenly slipped from her mouth as she became quite animated, her hands flailing back and forth in front of her as if in panic of something bad might be coming her way flailing desperately in hopes it might be scared off and run away.

"That... I.. b... but... that... it's.... I'm n... not a f... fighter th... though..." She protested meekly glancing back at the slightly taller women cowering a bit behind her as Alicia wiggling in place uneasy at the predicament. Despite that, the Maid remaining standing as she was in front of the older woman rather then attempting to hide away once more. If there was one thing she had trouble with, it was going against what others asked of her. So long as it didn't go against what someone else she pledged herself in service to it was incredibly difficult for her to exactly refuse an ask of someone even if it might seem outlandish or even stupid on her part for doing so. It's not to say she could never refuse, but it was always such a difficult thing for her to do and in the case of Arabell whether from some sort of earlier intimidation from before or just overwhelmed by the current situation she herself couldn't even say.

The mentioning of Captain John Spade had slipped past her ears... at least until she heard the loud voice of Higo uttering it as if some sort of battle cry (at least she took it as a battlecry by how scary his involuntary reaction was for her to behold). It was a name she had heard before though only in mutterings from time to time. Not one she fully understood the full significance of being rather sheltered as she had been. It had been Higo's voice that had caused her to look over to her new captain still remaining a solid unwitting meat shield for Arabell as she caught wind of what she was saying, and the amount of men it seems she had taken out, albeit perhaps a bit more mixed by others of which the rest of the crew had taken out as well.

Alicia meekly raised her hand a bit too fearful of raising her voice wanting to not stand out too much, even if she had unknowingly caught the eye of a few of her new fellow crewmates in the process with what she accidentally did to the one man. What she hadn't expected was for Nerissa to suddenly speak up giving an actual formal introduction. The meek girl taken back wanting to shrink back and hide though with Arabell's hands upon her shoulders reminding her she was serving as a 'protector' keeping her from having anywhere to really cower away to. The girl raising her fingers fumbling with one another in an attempt to ease her own nerves fidgeting a little. It seemed Nessy was focused on apologizing or at least attempting to reason with all that had gone on to stop any more of a commotion, perhaps an escape from the need to introduce herself. That was until Nicole spoke up making the girl look in her direction her cheeks flushing redder again realizing such an escape from public speaking was unavoidable.

"I... um.. m.. my name.. is... um... Alicia Harte. I... I can um... clean... c..... cook... serve.. wh.. .whatever you need." She spoke attempting to speak fumbling a bit though clearing up her words a bit at the end seeming to get a little bit of traction near the end even if she felt a bit odd of place introducing herself in such a way in front of so many people in a bar after a brawl. Her cheeks remained a tint of red glancing up getting a little courage now that the hard part was over looking over. Her eyes so briefly glancing over to see a few others she hadn't seen before or only so briefly keeping herself in place where she had been standing for a while now..

Arabell Overcast
__shirayuki_tomoe_nijisanji_drawn_by_ktsis__39384df7e66d6b487ebfd01ff31f7983.png
"Its fine, just smack em like you did that guy." Arabell coaches with a supposedly encouraging grin as she remained perfectly protected by the smaller girl. That being said, it seemed like she wouldn't need it much anymore.

Arabell's face slipped back into a more serious expression, these people were...for real about being pirates it seemed. There didn't seem to be a hint of decent between their sudden brawl, actually, it might have just created some sort of ingrained loyalty between this cavalcade of pirating hopefuls. Arabell didn't even have the gall to say that she wasn't a red ribbon anything to the watery Aquarius woman.

Actually, she might be associated with these weirdos now, "Shit...." She grumbled under her breath, which only Alicia might have heard, it was really just her luck to fall into the presence of these pirates wasn't it. Right about now Arabell would remember that she was still utilizing Alicia as a human shield and promptly step away from her. "Oh uh, I mean, Good Job~ Nice going knocking that guy over~" She complimented with her overly flowery tones as she scanned around the bar.

Her eyes would eventually come to rest at the group of, probably now former, pirates that had just been knocked over and bloodied. Now that their leader had been threatened away by the Aquarius lady, she felt almost bad for them. They, of course, did try to kill every last one of them judging by their very liberal use of bullets and knives but by god Arabell was still a doctor. So instead of bothering the barkeep for some, Arabell weaved through the tables, grabbing however many abandoned bottles of alcohol she could collect in both hands. Eventually she ended up with about 4 mostly filled bottles, two tangled in the fingers of either hand.

She quickly went over the known diseases of the island, aaand decided none of them were probably transferable through spit, and began to douse the offending pirates rather liberally with them. A cutely menacing smile on her face, "Lets get you bastards niiiice and disinfected, wouldn't want you to die from your own stupidity now would we~? Make sure to pick each other up on the way out~" She informed the beaten group, Arabell had just offered them more than enough Hypocrisy than they even deserved. She eyed up the last unused bottle and decided to drink the rest of it in one solid swig, boy did she suddenly crave some more, but she still had a job to do.

The newly formed Red Ribbons seemed to be all fine, despite the sudden and violent display they all proved to be far too much for the adversaries. Arabell however, set her sights on the man who currently owned a fairly nasty looking cut on his cheek. Striding right up to him she would take Cher, firmly but gently, by his chin and turn his head to examine it closely. "Stay still will ya." Was the only warning he would recieve.

"Aaah, that's kinda bad, but not terrible." Arabell commented after a few moments of examination, the bleeding was of course an issue but the fact that it was from some random person's knife meant it could have gotten infected, still, nothing that couldn't be solved with some affirmative action. She quickly dug into one of her pockets and pulled out a handkerchief, not actually hers someone just left it at her house one time, and pressed it against the injury.

"Barkeep, bring the first aid kit will ya, I know you got one!" Arabell demanded with little room for arguing. Her eyes scanned around the room laying her eyes on Scarlet for a moment or two before speaking once more, "Eh...if we're all saying who we are, Arabell Overcast, the best doctor you'll find by a couple hundred or so miles. And I am NOT a pirate, thank you very much."
