On the Battlefield (1x1 with SC & Akio)

"Suga's not your usual soldier, i almost have a feeling she may take a liking to him." He said with his own smirk as he sipped his glass. "Though ive never have been able to talk to your sister so i wouldnt know for sure."

Suga waved a slightly dismissing hand. "This party is for the soldiers, not for its generals. It is to raise moral and prepare them for what lies ahead for they do not know what comes next, from now on most of them will fight and die on someone's orders including my own.

So ill let them enjoy their time but its not for me, i know what lies ahead. And what about you lady Evelyn, what do you think." He spoke in a naturally quiet tone. Very different from many of the other braggy generals and soldiers.

Ada rolled her eyes and shrugged. "She doesn't take much of an interest in men, from what I've seen. But, hey, maybe she will like him. So long as he isn't too straightforward with her, that is." she sighed, looking around the party again.

Evelyn eyed him warily, before sighing. "I think they might as well enjoy the party as much as possible. That is, everyone who's being sent off. You don't know the outcome of the war." she gestured to one of the chairs. "Well, no reason to stand around. I don't enjoy people be above me when I speak to them, anyways. Take a seat." she said, glancing over at the table where her father and brothers sat and talked. After a moment of silence, she spoke up again. "My brother Aldrich is being sent with all of you, you know that? Of course you do... keep an eye on him, will you? I don't like my brothers, but I'm not in the mood for attending a funeral."

Iseley suddenly looked almost worried. "Suga is straight forward as one gets, he says the truth as it comes so this could go a bit more ugly then i imagine. But still as you said who knows." He sat back. "We got orders we leave tomorrow, the enemy moved a bit quicker then we thought."

"For many of these guys they wont see the end of the war, it doesent matter to the dead who wins. As for the living, you are right i dont know who will be standing at the end." When she gestured at the chair he sat. When she mentioned her brother he too looked at the table. "We wont all be together, every general will be given anywhere between 80,000- 100,000 soldiers and we will each go our separate ways, each making his won decisions to help the war effort. Such is the measure of the kings trust in us. While we will be together at times but not always, where is he being stationed?"

Ada frowned, sitting up. "What? Tomorrow?" she hesitated for a moment, before relaxing again, glancing away for a moment. "...I see. But- but, don't you need more recruits? I'd imagine that there are still plenty of young men signing up to join you... will you be leaving without them?" she asked, tilting her head a little.

Evelyn sighed, sitting back a bit. "Well, I don't know where he'll be stationed. And my brother Claiborne will be at my father's side, doing whatever he can to help out while still safe and sound..." she tilted her head a little. "Have you been getting that many recruits? You aren't spreading the army too thin, are you? There must easily be tens of thousands of soldiers who aren't attending this little party, then..." she was silent for a moment, before sighing. "I take it you have confidence in your ability as a general, anyways. Good luck."

"They will round up with the army as the war continues, providing reinforcements to the front lines to replenish our forces as we fight battles. The king wants us to strike back quickly and hard to drive them from out lands and counter invade their city's, he doesent want the wars destruction on his land. The last call for recruits is early tomorrow before we set of at about noon."

"Our army is not as spread as thin as a observer would think. When we declared this was we requested help from our ally's and then have sent troops to reinforce. Also all the generals have troops from previous campaigns, veterans and mercenary's who make up their personal army's loyal to them perhaps even more then the king. They will serve as well. This is one of the first times all 6 generals have been called to a single war, it will be quite the fight." He said before falling silent. "Also you are wrong about me having confidence in my ability's, i simply do what i can to end wars quickly so as many lives as possible can be spared. I will find where your brother is stationed and keep him safe if possible my lady." He said looking at her with his black eyes silently.

Ada sat quietly, in thought for a few moments, before nodding. "Yeah... of course. That sounds smart. So you'll have plenty of troops..." she sighed, shifting a bit and looking over at him. "I wish you the best of luck, you know. But I can't get over that... three years. That's insane. And that's if you actually come back..." she frowned.

Evelyn listened to him quietly, occasionally sipping at her wine as he spoke, seemingly in thought. "I see. Thank you in advance for making an attempt to help my brother. I wouldn't doubt he'd protest it, but it's for the best." she said with a shrug, sitting up a bit and eying him. "I think you'll do well out there, Suga. Let's hope the enemy isn't as powerful as they've been made out to be. I don't need a chunk of our population killed."

"Dont worry about it, theres no point. We cant avoid this war and worrying about it will only have me worrying about you." He said with a smile at her before leaning back in his chair and drinking some of his beer. "If we dont go out they will eventually find themselves here and i dont want us fighting on our lands and possibly dragging you into it. At least if i keep them at a distance you will be safe."

Suga nodded. "We cam only hope my lady." While this could have been the end of the conversation he seemed to be comfortable enough there and would probably not leave on his own. "You know ive noticed several of my soldiers come over here only to run off quickly, what have you been doing to them." He asks with a slight tone of amusement as he was looking at some of them who was looking at the general like he was suicidal.

Ada was silent for a few long moments, before sighing and nodded, sitting back and taking a long sip of her wine. "Yeah... I'll be safe. Don't worry about me, alright? Just focus on the war." she said with a slight frown, looking up at him briefly, before turning her gaze back to the party.

Evelyn sat quietly as he spoke, taking a couple sips of her wine. She looked over at Suga with a raised eyebrow, remaining quiet for a moment, before smiling slightly. "I suppose your men come to their senses fairly quickly, don't they? I'm sure they're well aware that a princess- and possibly future arch duchess -wouldn't settle for just a soldier. I'll at least wait for the veterans, you know. Though, I doubt I'd ever find a husband there."

"I will and if possible i will return alive." He said with a smile. While he had not drunken a over abundance of alcohol he had drinkun more then enough to ease his nerves and loosen his tongue and what he couldnt say before slipped out without him noticing. "After all it would be a shame for me not to to return to the girl i love." Then he paused and the realization of what he just said came to him.

Meanwhile suga smiled, right as Cedric looked over from his conversation with riful and yelled, "Suga come over here!" Suga sighed, Cedric was obviously drunk and so was riful. Suga got up and flashed Evelyn one more small smile. "Then maybe a victorious general will survice. Till next time my lady." With that he walked off thinking to himself. 'I cant believe i just said that.'

Ada shifted, looking over at Iseley for a few long moments, before sighing. "Yeah. Right. Though, I doubt my father would approve of that." she sighed, brushing a few stray strands of hair out of her face. "He does favour you generals- to be honest, I think he likes you more than he likes any of his children -but he wouldn't allow anything to come of this, you know. He'd want me to marry someone of another kingdom. Go be queen somewhere else, or please the ruler of another country." she shrugged.

Evelyn shifted a bit, watching as Suga stood and walked away. After a few moments of silence, she sighed, sitting back again and taking another swig of her wine. "Sure. Sure it will..." she frowned slightly, glancing around the room again.

Iseley sighed, dear, blunt, controlled Ada. Most other girls would have panicked but he wasent surprised she remained collected. "Your probably right about that, however i wont give up easy." He was thinking to himself, all the generals owned a bit of land that came from what they conquered but at most it would only give him the title of baron and while his popularity was high he could not appose the king. There would be only one point, in one situation where it would be possible for him to maybe get away with asking for her hand, the end of this wat sitting in the enemies conquered capital. Taken by his hand. He smiled, "There may be one point when he allows it."

She tilted her head, eying him for a few moments, before sighing and shrugging. "Well, I'm not sure... I do hope so. But, how about you focus on returning home first, hm?" Ada finished her wine, still watching him. She wasn't sure what was on his mind, though it hardly concerned her; Ada had other things to worry about. When she thought about it, she probably would try to marry him simply for the sake of spiting her father. Of course, they both had to get through at least three years before they could even think of marriage. "So, you're all ready for the war... getting the last bunch of new recruits and then you're heading off. I take it they'll still be sending you some new soldiers, won't they? And there should still be defences in the capital..."

"Correct, we will be getting soldiers threw out the war and the capital will be left garrisoned, or at least half so anyway. Still this city is well build and a half garrison is more then long enough for reinforcements to arrive if needed. But i will come home, and i will win this war. We wont fail." He said though they couldnt fail, the one who lost this war would probably have their country destroyed utterly. Suddenly Suga walked by and Iseley looked at him. "So how did it go!" He said loudly, suga tilted his head confused for a moment till he realized what he meant. "Surprisingly pleasant." That was his only comment on the matter and iseley grinned at Ada.

Ada rolled her eyes, sitting back. "You're so sure of your victory..." she pouted, looking up as Suga approached. She eyed the general for a moment, before sighing and shrugging. "Well, I didn't say my sister was terrible. I'm just saying that, if you make it too obvious that you're just after her hand in marriage, she's going to eat you alive." pausing, she chuckled, "At least, that's what all the unlucky soldiers who approached her seem to think. She doesn't bite as hard as you might think."

He smiled at her pouting face. "No I'm just telling my self I am confident there is a distinct difference." He said with a small smirk while suga sat next to them. "I found her interesting, she isnt like the submissive princess many see them as they are supposed to be. Then again nethier are you lady Ada." He said glancing at her. "Akio we leave early morning, dont have regrets." He said getting up.

Ada sighed, sitting back and stifling a yawn. "You know, I am awfully tired... I might leave soon and get to bed, you know. I sure hope you don't mind..." she said with a sigh, taking a long sip of her wine. "I hope everything goes well. Who knows, maybe I'll even get to see you off. I, um, kind of doubt it, though... I might sleep in." Ada shrugged, brushing a few stray strands of hair out of her face.

((didnt get a notification.))

"Its alright, even if you dont see me off ill be back before you know it." he said with a smile but suga seemed to be watching her, something seemed suspicious. This was to easy a parting for old friends. "I feel like im forgetting something." He said thinking about it as he walked off to find lucian to talk Cedric about the kings son, he always did seem to know where everyone was at all times.

Ada frowned at Iseley for a moment. "You'll be back in three years. And that's if you manage to win early. You could be gone for five years, or six years... would he keep you for six whole years?" As Suga spoke, she paused, looking over at him for a moment and watching him leave. "...you'd better not die out there, you know. Do you know where you'll be stationed?" she asked, eying him for a moment.

"The king could keep me for 10 years if he wanted, in reality I wouldn't have the right to refuse. I am a vassal of the king after all." He said some of his good humor disappearing. "As for my station we are given free rain to maneuver as we please so it not rather a station. However the basic battle plan is Lucian and moubu will skim the country side and collapse their industry, causing panic and drawing them out. Riful and Suga are too basically pick fights and take city's in order to draw out the generals who did not go after Lucian and moubu in the country side. Meanwhile me and Cedric are supposed to pierce deep into enemy's lands and take their major city's and eventually the capital." This meant of course that him and Cedric had the hardest job.

She sat back, staring at him as he spoke. She wasn't paying too much attention, though nodded along anyways, shifting as he finished speaking. "Ah. Well, I hope you win this war quickly. I wouldn't enjoy my father keeping you there for ten years... by then, I think he would have married me off to some stuffy prince or duke." she sighed, sitting up and clearing her throat as she checked the time. "Well, I am exhausted... I'd hate to leave the party early, but I'd like to be up early enough to see you all off, you know. I hope I'll manage..." she said, pausing for a moment to look at him, before standing.

((god this notification system *Head desk*))

Akio nodded and stood. "If you want i can see you to your room, i doubt the party will miss me if i am only gone for a short while." He said, likely they would miss him at all as they would probably be partying till dawn and people would drop out in many point of the party ethier from exhaustion or go off with someone else. He was thinking about what she said, whenever the idea of her marrying some duke or lord came to his head he almost got the bizarre desire to laugh, she wasent someone who would be the quiet submissive wife they probably desired.

Ada hesitated for a moment when he offered walking with her to her room. After a few moments in thought, she nodded, brushing a few strands of hair out of her face. "Yes, I'd appreciate that... I'm sure no one will notice we've even gone." she said, nodding towards one of the doors. She quietly walked out of the large room with him, looking around as they walked. Her eyes flicked to him every once in a while, and as they started upstairs, she spoke up again.

"So, you're leaving tomorrow morning... and I might not see you for three whole years..." she frowned slightly.

"Dont worry about it to much, there's no point. This isnt my first war." He said, though she knew that he was saying this more for her them himself. Every war carried a new risk and even he had seen none on this scale. "Still i will miss you." He said quietly, memories flickering threw his mind.

Ada frowned, silent as they stopped in front of her room. "Yeah... I'll miss you, too." she muttered, staring at the door for a few long moments, before clearing her throat. "But, I'm sure things will be fine. I bet the enemy's quaking in their boots as we speak." she smiled at him, brushing a few stray strands of hair out of her face. "And these years will go by quickly... we'll see each other again in no time."

Iseley is strangely silent as he looked at her. When she smiled he spoke. "Yeah we'll see each other again." He spoke softly almost like he was afraid to break the silence in the lonely hallway. "Ada." He seemed to be struggling with his words for a moment before suddenly sighing, even though he said it once it seemed to get no easier to say. He smiled. "I love you, i will return soon." He said with a smile.
