Realistic or Modern On Angels Paint Brushes(t0nk)

Monica had woken up early to see the utter downpour of snow outside. A check of her phone showed that school had predictably been cancelled due to the torrential snowfall over the course of the night. Slipping away from Lily without waking her, fixing the blankets to keep her warm afterwards, she made her way to the kitchen to make some tea. She'd been surprised to see her mom sitting at the table with her own mug like she'd been waiting patiently. What followed had been an awkward conversation to say the least. Between the questions of why, how and when, she felt picked apart but boiling it down to Lily was a sweet soul who needed someone to give a damn about her & that she wanted to see where things went. Hearing the muffled footfalls from upstairs she left the kitchen and her mug to go find Lily. "Hey, how'd you sleep?" she asked leaning on the doorframe to the living room. "You looked pretty comfy and content."

Lily looks up to Monica, now would be a good time to note that Lily is very short, I suppose it just adds to her innocence. "Oh Monica, I slept wonderfully!" Lily is clearly excited about something, it's most likely the snow, or maybe just being here, suddenly Lily sighs, like she realized something, she looks down sadly. Lily is thinking about her sister. Rose is like the upgrade of Lily, everything Lily can do, Rose does 10 times better. Rose is 22, she moved out a few years ago, and joined in the abuse of Lily. Rose always told Lily "If you tell anyone, you're fucking dead!" . Lily looks up to her sister in a strange way, she wants to be like her sister, successful, happy, loved. Lily thinks about Rose, and tries to hold back tears, Lily knew that Rose would track Lily down and find her, Lily really doesn't want that, Rose is dangerous, what she'll do to Lily, or maybe even Monica, well Lily just doesn't want to think about it.

Monica smiled a little taking notice that Lily was shorter than she had thought. A stray thought passed that it added to the cute factor. "I'm glad that you slept so well. I was going to make breakfast and bring it up but if you want to take a seat in the kitche... What's wrong Lily?" she asked noticing the sudden shift in the other girls demeanor. What had been happy suddenly became sad and almost immediately depressed. Crossing over to the other girl she gently tilted her head up to meet her eyes. Golden-brown eyes glowed with concern as she tried to work out what could switch her mood instantly. "Lily, you can tell me hun. I thought that after yesterday you'd wake up riding a happy high" she said in a soft tone that conveyed gentle control but still letting the concern she felt be heard.

"I...I'm don't wanna talk about it it's not important." Lily is very nervous, she doesn't want to say anything about Rose, she doesn't want to worry Monica, she tries to clear Rose out of her head, she smiles at Monica, "let's go do something else! What I'm thinking about it now worth worrying yourself over!" Lily smiles and ruffles Monica's hair and kisses her gently and nervously, she pulls away after a few seconds. "..Did I do that right?"

Monica wasn't convinced by Lily saying what she was so concerned over wasn't important at all. "Lily, if any sort of relationship between us is going to work you can't lie to m-" Her words were interrupted by the kiss and though she returned it, only an idiots wouldn't return it, she was not happy. "There is no right or wrong way to kiss Lily, some would call me a liar but I don't think there's a wrong way to kiss someone you feel strongly for. Nonetheless... Don't try to change the subject Lily" she said as her tone took on a more strict undertone. "Lily, if you love me as much as you said then I need you to trust me to help you. Your parents are going to pay for their crimes against you, something I happily did because I want to see what comes out of us Lily. Whatever is worrying you is important so tell me. I'm not going to think any less of you or abandon you I promise."

Lily looks away and sighs "Sorry I just hate talking about this more than my parents...It's my sister...Her name is Rose...Rose is like my parents but worse...So much worse, and thing is, police won't get rid of her...She's an addict, an abuser..Hell I wouldn't be surprised if she's killed someone...Thing is..She's incredibly successful, she's the owner of a huge company, she has mansions and sports cars...Hell you've probably seen her on TV...She told me that if I ever say anything about her or our parents...She said I'd be dead, which I'm sure was a joke...Or something...Listen we shouldn't talk about her...We just need to be careful...Lock doors at night..Carry a weapon in public...Rose is gonna find us soon..I just don't want her to hurt you..." Lily begins to cry as she thinks about Rose hurting Monica.

"People like that Lily, they are ultimately their own worst enemy. I'm not leaving and I sure as hell am not letting her hurt you" Monica swore gently brushing the tears from Lily's face. "Dear sweet Lily, I might look like a pretty face but I am not fragile. I know how to defend myself and I already carry two separate knives on my person every time I leave the house. If that psycho sister of yours wants to come at me, I have no problem with fighting back. Mom did two tours with the Navy SEALs before she settled down and taught me some of the things they taught her. I am going nowhere, do you understand that Lily?" she asked.

From the kitchen Grace, Monica's mother, frowned deeply. Just how messed up was Lily's family? The parents had been arrested last night publicly at a big social event and had been a big to do. If this Rose girl was a company CEO then the amount of resources at her disposable was not something to scoff at. Of course neither was her own assets Monica was not told about for a reason. "My daughter is right Lily, you are safe here with us. Neither of us will allow anything or anyone, not even your sister, to hurt you. The amount of people I helped settled nasty contentious divorces for have various levels of influence in the county so if I need another favor or two there's no need to shed another tear. Just enjoy your time together and find something to get your mind off this topic. Not much we can do with all this snow unless you two want to jump off the house into the snow and dig us out a path to the driveway and street" she said looking thoughtfully into her mug.

Lily sees Grace and looks nervous, Lily is scared of adults naturally due to her terrible experience with them. Lily sighs and looks out a window. "Well Yeah...Thank you two so much...You have no clue how much all this means to me..." Lily smiles at Monica and her mother before tearing up, though it's clear that these are happy tears. Lily is incredibly happy to be around Monica, and people who love her, it makes her feel a feeling she's never felt before. Lily experiences a true happiness for a moment. Lily hugs Monica tightly. "Thank you so much Monica..."as Lily hugs Monica, it would be easy to notice that she's incredibly cold, like, way too cold. Lilys forehead is burning hot too, Lily isn't noticing it, but she has a very bad fever.

Monica returned the embrace hoping to just convey how safe Lily was. What she felt however was the conflicting chill and fever. "Its back to bed for you Lils" she said with a soft loving tone though it was clear it was an order. "Mom, get me a few cold rags and a bowl could you? Lily has a high fever." Breaking the embrace took a moment before scooping her into her arms. The walk to the bedroom was short and tucking Lily in was a blink. Sitting beside her on the bed she took the older girls hand in her own. "You need to rest Lily, me and my mom will be here to care for you. Cold towels should help your fever drop and we'll keep an eye out" she said interlacing their fingers and squeezing lightly. "Close your eyes and dream sweet relaxing dreams of me ok? No ones going to get to you."

Lily looks a little surprised by the whole thing happening so suddenly, though when she's tucked in, she sits there and clutches Monicas hand tightly. "Sorry I didn't even realize I was sick..I've never been sick like thi-aaAACHO!" Lily lets out a large sneeze, making sure to redirect it away from Monica. "...Alright I think I'll try to sleep...I'll dream of you Monica.." She looks at Monica, smiling, you can see that she's sick in her eyes. Lily shuts her eyes and rests her head on the pillow. Lily is attempting to fall asleep and it's clear that she isn't sleeping for a few minutes, though eventually she passes right out. Lily loosens her grip on Monicas hand and just sits there, it's obvious she's sleeping now. Lily doesn't snore or anything, she just usually looks happy, content with herself. Lily looks a little more sick than usual of course, her face is a little pale too.

Monica didn't pay attention to how long she sat there with. It had to of been a few hours at least since the bowl of cold water had gone warm. "Never is it dull around you huh Lily?" she asked the sleeping girl rhetorically. She could only hope that the older girl was not super sick though who knows how bad Lily's health has been under her parents 'care'. Leaning down she kissed the unconscious girl softly for just a moment. "You're going to be ok Lily.. I know my girl is going to be ok because I am and I know you want to be at my side so fight, fight whatever is making you sick and stand proudly beside me my sweet precious Lily" she whispered softly while pulling back from her lips. Laying down beside the other girl she closed her eyes planning on a short nap to recharge and was out like a light in minutes.

When Grace went to check on the girls she saw Monica protectively curled up to Lily, a small smile on her lips as her nose nuzzled into the others throat. "She's head over heels for Lily snd doesn't realize it yet" she snorted to herself in amusement but closed the door silently leaving them be.

There is a knock at the front door. A girl with pale skin stands in the snow. It's clearly Rose, standing in the snow. Rose has dark green hair and dark green lipstick, not to mention her bright green eyes that Lily share, those are hidden by her sunglasses though. Rose is tall, she stands at around 5'11. Rose has a similar facial structure to Lily, her facial details are just a little sharper. Rose actually looks beautiful, she shares the same pear-like body type as Lily, except more defined features, while Lily is slimmer. Rose looks Grace in the eyes. Rose has her hands in the pockets of her expensive fur coat, her black jeans hanging below her ankles, though that isn't visible due to her tall snow boots. "I'm here for my sister. I know she's here." Rose has a deep voice, she looks rather stressed, she just gives off those vibes.

Lily stays asleep, her head resting close to Monica's, as their bodies curl around each other. If Lily knew about Roses arrival, she'd be terrified.

Rose takes her hands out of her pockets, showing Grace that she's unarmed "I mean no harm, I just need to know that my sister is alright. I need to speak with her."

Grace was in the middle of cleaning the tea mugs when the knock sounded on the front door. Knowing she wasn't expecting friends or family, people would be crazy to be out and about in the snow up to their waists, she slowly made her way to the door but not before grabbing her beretta and making sure it was fully loaded. Stowing it in the back of her pants and covering it with her sweater she looked through the peep hole. Spotting a luxuriously dressed woman that looked like Lily she scowled to herself. "You must be Rose" she said with a tight tone as she opened the door the barest amount so their eyes could meet. "I don't know what you want with Lily but you are not coming in my house. She told us about you. The addict, the abuser who joined in with your parents to hurt her.. That you threatened her saying she'd be dead if she told anyone about what you and your parents did to her. As far as I'm concerned you're trespassing on private property and I want you gone. You have a minute to walk your Guchii and Prada wearing self away from my home before I call the cops. Also, just in case you get the ugly little idea to try something, just know I am ex Navy SEALs and killing you in her defense & that of my family is not something I would hesitate to do or lose any sleep over. You're not getting near her. Leave now." The door was slammed shut and locked, both dead bolts and the actual door lock, as she brought one hand behind her back to rest on the pistol grip just in case.

Rose pounds on the door "Just let me talk to you! Anyone please! You don't understand why I'm here...Just let me see my sister please!" Rose sighs "Listen I drove hours to get here, you can't let this just end here...I'm not even here cause of our parents I just want to talk to Lily, and if you won't let me...Then can you at least tell her I'm sorry?...I know words can't make up for years of trauma but I changed...I really changed...I know motherfuckers like me always say this shit, it's just psychology, but I'm serious, I'll do anything to see Lily again, I don't care if you kill me, or anything like that..Just let me see my sister..." Rose is tearing up, she's usually tough, but she's cracking now. "I need to see my sister.." Rose sighs once more. Rose pulls her wallet out of her pocket "I'll pay you! I have all the money you could dream of...Please I'll do anything to see my sister again.." Rose really sounds desperate, she won't give up. Rose sits in the snow and shivers.

Grace snorted to herself listening to the woman outside her door. "Do you know how many times I hear that when I help my clients get away from abusive spouses or partners? Do you know how many times they claim to have changed and they were sorry only for my clients to end up dead when some of them give the abuser another chance? Lily doesn't trust adults and the one person she seems to trust implicitly is my daughter. I trust you being sincere right now as much as I trust Judas didn't betray Jesus to the Romans out of greed and we both know he did. You want to see and talk to your sister again, you have to convince my daughter and that is not happening right now" she said with a scoff. "All that said... Leave a number or something. I'll talk to them when they wake up. Don't hold your breath." Her footsteps were audible enough through the door as she walked away and she was thankful all the windows were blocked keeping Rose from being able to see inside the house. It was the right and wrong decision to make but Lily had a sensible head on her shoulder that she should be allowed to make her own decision while Monica was logical enough to toss emotion to the side when it came to important decisions.

"I don't want to hurt anyone just...I'll leave my wallet outside...take whatever you want from it, my phone number is in there too..." Rose stands up and walks to her car. Rose sits in her car and cries for a little, thinking about what she's done. Rose pulls out and drives away to a restaurants parking lot. Rose sits there and watches the snow fall, crying to herself, keeping her glasses on so no one would see, Rose enters the fast food place and orders some food. it wouldn't be long before a fan saw her and came to her, Rose smiles at the fan and takes some pictures with the fan, it isn't long before there are a lot of fans coming to her, she tries to go back to her car but she's just followed. Now word is spreading through the town that Rose from the show "Yesterday's Aliens" is in town. Why would a star like Rose come to this small town?

Lily begins to wake up, happy and content with herself, she is feeling a little better, Lily sits up and goes to the kitchen for a glass of water, trying not to wake up Monica, she sees a Grace and smiles "Hi Grace."

Grace didn't immediately hear Lily enter the kitchen though she did spot a flash of color on the edge of her vision. "How are you feeling Lily?" she asked with a kind little smille. During her little nap it seemed Lily wasn't as pale and a quick feel of her forehead revealed her fever was nowhere near as bad. "Can I get you something to eat or maybe a drink since you missed breakfast?" she asked. For a moment she left Lily alone to retrieve the wallet that was left on the front step and hid it within the bulky pocket of her sweater. She wasn't sure if she should bring it up to Lily now or wait til Monica got up. "Lily, do you mind if I asked you a hypothetical question?" she asked taking a seat at the kitchen table. She was skeptical of Rose with good reason, Lily's parents abused her and her own sister joined in by Lily's own admission yet the woman in question claimed to have changed; something she heard so much in the abusive situations where she handled the divorces for her clients. "I know you expressed being fearful of your sister earlier but what would you do or say if she came back to you saying she was a changed person and it was true?"

Lily sighs "I don't know...I suppose I would be happy if it was true...I really want Rose to be a good person, I know she can be that way, I just haven't seen her in so long..." Lily sighs "I miss her...She cares about me and I care about her too...She thought hurting me would make me tougher, like it would shape me into a better person...I just want to see her be the good person I know she is deep down..." Lily looks at the table and holds the sides tightly. Lily is nervous, a little scared that Grace will yell at her or something, Lily really looks uncomfortable.

"Lily..." Grace sighed softly taking the wallet out and slid it to the middle of the table. "I don't know if I should be waiting to say this until my daughter wakes up but I have a better moral compass than to hide it given the circumstance." She paused for a long heavy moment. "She came by while you were resting. She wanted to see you and talk to you. Understandably I turned her away and threatened her with the cops for trespassing. What did say was that she was changed and she wanted to apologize to you. You understand my skepticism of her being honest." Her lips fell into a frown. "She said she heard what happened to your parents and her whole reason for coming had no reason to do with anything but you. I don't know if she's being truthful or not Lily and I want to keep you safe from harm for Monica's sake at every turn I can. She sounded distraught over the whole of the brief conversation but I know better than most how easy that is to fake. Her number is in the wallet if you want to speak to her" she said with a shake of her head. "I won't stop you if you want to call her but if you do please *69 the call so the house line comes up as unlisted."

Lily stares at the wallet and opens it, she sees a picture of Rose and a cute boy, smiling, happy..In love...The picture has a red "X" over it, seemingly a break up or something happened.Lily sees Roses phone number, she then shuts the wallet. "Yeah...Ok...Alright..." Lily begins to tear up, she quickly puts her hands in her face, to hide the tears. Lily just wishes she could've had a better life, that her and her sister could have had parents who care. Lily wants the best for everyone, to a bad point. "I just want the best for her..I want the best for my parents...I want the best for everyone, and it's just too much..." Lily cries for a few more minutes before she gets herself together. Lily pulls out her phone "Alright...I think I'm gonna talk to rose..." Lily already had Roses number, so she didn't need to look at the wallet. She unblocks Rose and brings the phone to her ear. "Hello?...Rose!" Lily smiles, her eyes lighting up, she looks somewhat happy "Yes I'm fine......Well no it's not all my fault, thanks though..Nah my girlfriend helped. She's really nice! She finally got mom and dad in trouble...Oh...I'm really sorry to hear that." Lilys face dims down, she looks sad. "...Oh?...Yes rose it was years ago...I know it's trauma but I can tell by your voice, you changed, did you stop doing drugs?..." Lily smiles brightly "Oh my god Rose I'm so proud of you!...Oh already?...Bye.." Lily gets off the phone, sighing. "Wow.."

Grace's heart broke for the gentle natured girl. She really was a gem that needed as much protection from the world as she needed from herself. Not that she was a danger to hurt herself, not intentionally anyway, but her hopeful nature was kind and gentle enough for those with the wrong intentions to abuse like her parents had. "I know you want what's best for everyone Lily, I saw that by the way you look at my daughter and your friend back in the classroom, but sometimes you need to be a lot more careful. Some bad people can change, I will admit that, but that doesn't... It doesn't mean you should forgive them right away. You love my daughter and though she doesn't realize it yet she loves you too, it's clear as day in how she treats you and keeps you close with the gentlest of motions, so I know you're going to be around a lot. I just want you to be careful ok?" she asked with a concerned gentle squeezing of the girls arm gently.

Monica groaned as she woke and unconsciously tried to snuggle into Lily only to feel a cold spot. Sitting up blearily she noticed the spot the other girl had been in was empty. Where had Lily gone? Stumbling out of bed while wiping her eyes she checked the bathrooms first and found nothing before heading downstairs.

"...Oh already?...Bye.."

Who was Lily talking to? "Who was that Lily?" she asked through a yawn as she rubbed her nose a little bit. She spotted a thick wallet on the table that had a lot of money bulging it. It was obviously not her moms wallet, her mother was far more conservative and kept the bulk of her money in the bank, so whose was it?

"Oh hi Monica..It was- I-...My sister..." Lily frowns looking away, flinching almost. Lily is scared that Monica might be angry with her, or even try to hurt her. Lily puts up her arms as a sort of guard from Monica as she flinches away. The flinch only lasts a few seconds before she realizes what's happening. Lily takes lets her arms go down and nervously lets out a fake giggle, she just shrugs it off "Hehe! Trauma! You know how it is." The fact that Lily just faked happiness to get her girlfriend to forgive her of psychological scarring is just a symbol of Lilys fear. Lily isn't necessarily scared of Monica, she so fearful of her parents that it sticks to her all the time. Lily begins to think about her parents and puts her head in her arms, her arms folded, resting on the table. Lily begins to cry, trying to hide her tears so no one will be upset because she's crying.

Monica had plenty she wanted to say about Lily speaking to her sister after the whole reveal earlier, all of it coming from a place of good intentions for Lily, but before she could say a word the other girl was throwing up defensive gestures like she expected to be hurt for it. "Lily..." Taking a seat the table she pulled her into her arms resting the others head on her chest. "My dear sweet Lily... I'm not going to hurt you I swear it on my soul" she whispered nuzzling the top of her head gently. Rose on the other hand, well she was fair game as her mind was concerned. "What did she say? Do I need to cut her a new hole to breathe through?" she asked rocking the pink hair haired beauty in her arms soothingly.

"N-No!" Lily looks horrified, she pulls away just little. "She said that she's changed...I don't think you understand...Rose hurt me, but I still love her, she's still my sister..Rose hurt me 6 years ago, and she left home 4 years ago...Rose said that she was sorry for everything we went through..She told me that I'm an adult, and I was brave to get my parents arrested, she also said to thank you for helping me...Rose is a good person deep down! I know she is! I just have to help her show it, and I don't think I have to...Rose stopped doing drugs, she's a better person and I believe her!...I care about Rose a lot..." Lily sighs sadly "Please don't talk about hurting her like that..." Lily hates hearing Monica give off threats to people like that, it upsets her a lot to think about Monica hurting people, even if it was in Lilys defense, in her head, Lily can defend herself, she doesn't need Monica to threaten people, even though that isn't true, because Lily is a frail little thing.

"Lily, I'm going to say something so please try not to get upset with me ok?" Monica asked after Lily finished speaking. "I know you want to think the best of everyone and you want to help them be the best they can be. I understand that she is your sister. But Lily, and I mean this with all the care in the world, I am not going to trust her around you alone anytime soon without irrefutable evidence she is not going to hurt you again. She's off drugs? Good for her but frankly my concern is not whether she's swallowing pills or shooting up. I know that sounds heartless and callous but try to see it from my side. Who would you be more concerned with if it was me in your situation, me or someone who should love me and protect me but instead abused me in the past?" she asked in a tone that was apologetic yet unapologetic at the same time.

"What my daughter is poorly trying to get across Lily is that you could be right and your sister could be telling the truth about being a changed person but Monica isn't going to believe it unless she sees it with her own eyes" Grace said trying to save the situation from becoming one that upsets Lily any further.
