Magic Loving Librarian

"Well, I do possess a sweet tooth that feels neglected as of this morning," Thomas began his answer to Cora's last question "and given the weather today, I feel a nice hand made sandwich with honeyed ham would be nice. Perhaps with some warm apple pie, and if I'm feeling daring, a smoothie." Finishing off the rattling off of his thoughts, Thomas smiled and gave a nod. Only after that did he actually pick up his menu. In would be a lie to say he didn't know the menu, but he always checked just in case there was a change. But that was a safety of a small town like Kore, not much changed, and it only changed over time. Like time drove away old teachers and made way for new ones like his friend. "Well, I'll be open for my regular hours today. Either tomorrow or the next day I may have company, nothing major, just family."
Placing the menu in his hands down on the edge of the table, Thomas stared off into space dispite his friend across from him, the gears turning in his head as he thought over some research he had done as of late. It could have been ten seconds of silence, or an awkward minute or two before Thomas chuckled to himself. "It's almost like magic, your hobby. The piano. If we showed it to people a thousand years ago they wouldn't know how it worked, as so it would be magic to them. And with your skill in it you claim free drinks. not so much by working, but doing something you like. If I could bottle that idea, write down the process, the pure how of exchanging sound for liquid, perhaps I could get a step closer to the truth I seek." Coming back to reality Thomas offer a fake cough and an apologetic smile.
"Sorry about that, I got lost in the moment. What do you want? Actually, don't worry, just get whatever you want." Rubbing the back of his head, Thomas waved a waiter over.
