Of Brick and Stone (open)

Aaly made a face again at her pronouncing her name "Would you mind to just call me Aaly, please?" She had figured it was better if she asked it nicely than demanding it. She raised her eyebrow as she heard Crisis' question and couldn't help it but smirk "Oh would you like to see it yourself?" She tilted her head to the side.

(Well.. Maybe we can wait a little longer for her to get back online, if not we could just say that they get worried and go looking for him instead, do you agree?)

She had only been there for a few seconds so she didn't know how to respnond. She looked around the girls room then toward the ceiling. It was a change from wooden walls and pale floorings . " It's nice here, very warm."

(Yeah let's wait, I wish I was a more patient person :P )

Crisis nodded. "Sure thing Aaly." When asked if she wanted to see the eye Crisis quickly shook her head. "No I'm fine." But then curiosity got the best of her. "Okay, maybe just a quick peek."
"Hmm that's one way to look at it I guess," Obsidian said still laying on her bed. "Where did you say you were from?"

Aaly's smirk got wider as she lifted her eyepatch for Crisis to see the dark hole where before there was her right eye. She had been wanting to do the same thing to so many people, it was funny to see their faces, though just a few, and she meant really few, had agreed to see what was below her eye patch

(I'm the same v.v But well most of the times it's worth waiting! Or at least that's what I tell myself constantly x_x XP)

She gave her a questionable look not, remembering telling her but her name. " I'm from district 2, the badlands." She bowed again. She reminded her of an older person who thinks ahead, she was a little funny to.

(That's true. And trust this story is worth waiting for ^-^)

"Ewwwwwwwwww!" Crisis said covering her face and stomping her feet. "Cover that back up." Crisis couldn't help but laugh. She didn't think it was really gone. "Why did you do that to yourself? Did it hurt? I mean wow, you didn't have to go that far just to get rid of your PIC."

This time Obsidian propped herself up on her elbows and looked directly at Rin. A look of pity on her face. "The Rebel District huh? I hear it is getting really bad out there." Obsidian smiled again. "But at least you get to live here now, where it is safe."

Aaly just smiled, kinda proudly actually, before letting go of the patch so that it would cover it back up. "I don't really remember, I guess it did, I was much more impulsive that day so I just did it without even giving it a second thought" She said as she leaned back on her chair, up until that day she still didn't regretted it.

(I'm sure it is *^*)

"You know," Crisis said with a sly smile, "You're not as bad as you make yourself out to be." she ran a finger around the rim of her glass as she thought, making a light humming sound. "You kind of remind me of Halo when I first met him. The world's against him, so he has to be against it. Has to be mean to everyone so no one gets close enough to hurt him." Crisis looked at Aaly. "I noticed that you looked over your shoulder before coming in here. To this day he still does that too, thinks I don't notice. What you guys are looking for I have no idea. But maybe if you stop trying to look for the bad in this world, you'll start seeing the good."

Aaly blinked and let out a smile as she looked to the side and saw the stairs, where seconds ago Marthe had disappeared with little Dan, before looking back at Crisis.

"But you know? That's where you are precisely wrong, I, at least, am not looking for the bad in this world, I look for hope, for motivation that will drive me forward. I know what you must be thinking about this place and I don't blame you. I too thought this was a 'dumping ground' when I first arrived here, after 13 years living in the best places on the 'city in the sky' had me thinking that, that was truly 'paradise', imagine, me, alone arriving to a place I knew nothing about, thinking that every District was the same as mine, I could just regard this District as hell. Now, in every thing I see I find beauty, in the dirty streets and tired looking people I find wonder. I always look back because I don't want to forget how marvelous this place and the life I lead here is. People believe in a future that they build with their own fair hands, with the tiredness and sweat being the road they are willing to go through to achieve that goal and children have that glimmer in their eyes of those who look up to the future with uncertainty and excitement, that's what I call humanity's miracle" She said as she laid down her chin on top of her hands and looked her in the eye, Crisis was not so bad herself either as she had thought before, though she was not sure if she would understand her words, agree with them she probably wouldn't, but accept them.. She could just hope she would. Though then again, she wouldn't think ill of her if she couldn't bring herself to do so.

Crisis listened to everything Aaly had to say, but she still didn't agree with it. Sure, this might be an acceptable way of life for the people of this district, but their lives could be so much better. The New Order isn't a bad thing. It was put in place in order to rebuild a shattered world after the third war. Without it, who knows what would have happened. Freedom was just a small price to pay, the world needed this. It needed restrictions so something that horrible could never happen again. But it's not like everyone was enslaved, not every single freedom was taken away, just a few. And look at what they got in return, this generation far exceeded the one per-war. Besides, it wasn't like the rebels are so innocent. They want complete freedom but just look how they're going about it. They bomb places, sometimes where civilians are, and they attack anyone who isn't like them. That's how a war happens. Crisis's world may not be perfect, but neither was theirs.

Crisis thought about telling Aaly her thoughts, then thought better of it. She didn't want to start an argument. Crisis's cell buzzed and she grabbed it expecting it to be Halo, she was surprised to see her father's name appear on her screen.

"Hi daddy," she said holding a finger to her mouth so Aaly knew to keep quiet. "Sorry I didn't check in sooner but I've been distracted... yes we're still out here... static? The reception must be bad out here." Crisis got up and moved about the kitchen trying to find a better spot for her call. "Yes I heard, I've been ke--... uh huh... uh huh... WHAT!" Crisis's eyes widened and her mouth dropped. "Are you kidding me!?" she squealed with joy. "Yes! Of course! Oh daddy thank you, thank you, thank you!... Okay I'll see you when I'm back home..."

Click.

Crisis hung up her cell and she turned to Aaly with a hand covering her mouth. "You will not believe what just happened to me." Crisis went back to her seat by Aaly before continuing. "Okay, so as you know my parents are the top advisors for-- wait," Crisis said remembering that Aaly wasn't one of her friends from school. "You don't know that. Anyway, my parents are top advisors for the president of FlyBird, who as you should know stays in close touch with all the royals from the districts in The Order. He just invited my parents to the ball, and the know how I've been begging them to take me up to District 1 since forever, so guess what!? They said I could come!" Crisis squealed before Aaly had a chance to answer.

Aaly blinked and almost choked over a piece of bread she was chewing in that moment. She coughed before drinking the last bit of her milk that was still left on her glass. "That's... That's great" She managed to say after a moment.

(Hey tama, I'm going to play with Halo but if you get back online I have a scene you can Rp at)

After finding out that Crisis and Aaly found shelter and breakfast, Halo apologized to the girl he bumped into again, then took his leave. Halo looked at the address Crisis send him and matched it up with the street signs. He pulled his hood down lower as the streets became crowded with people going about their day. He kept a lookout for anyplace where the key might fit too. His first guess was a warehouse or storage unit but he hadn't the slightest idea where to find one. Halo thought about about asking someone about a place like that in these parts but knew that wasn't the smartest idea. Halo stopped at a house with a 23 painted on the side of the door.

"Guess this is it," Halo said walking up to the door and knocking.

Aaly raised her eyebrow as she heard the knocking on the door "Ah, would you mind open it? It must be Halo" She told Crisis as she rushed up to the second floor. She had to talk with Marthe and she needed it now.

Marthe was rocking Dan's cradle softly as she hummed a lullaby. Aaly entered the room, bitting her lip "Marthe I need your help" She hand't wanted to get them involved.. But it was an urgent matter. Marthe smiled as she looked at her, she had guessed she would come to her ever since she heard the news on the District 5 girl's cell. "It will be today at 6pm, just make sure you arrive to the Meadowlane at the right time"

"Okay..." Crisis said watching Aaly dash from the room. She got up and sung open the door.

"Long time no see," Halo said with a smile.

"I was beginning to think you forgot about me," Crisis opened the door wider so Halo could step through.

"Never. Where's Aaly?"

"She went to talk with Marthe."

"Who?"

"The woman who owns this house." Crisis led Halo to the kitchen and put the plate of food and milk in front of him. "She also made this. It's really good."

Halo began stuffing his face. He hadn't noticed how hungry he way. "This is really good," he said with a full mouth.

"What did I tell you? So guess what?"

"What?" Halo asked still focused on the food. Crisis then dived in on the ball and how she would be attending it, and if Halo wanted to go with her to the Upper Lands. Halo paused to think about this.

"A ball up in District 1? Getting all dressed up to impress people I don't know and frankly don't care about? Crisis why didn't you tell me about this sooner!? When do I get to go!?"

"I hate you."

Halo chuckled. "It's not really my style."

"Please, It'll be really fun," Crisis begged.

"Doubt that."

"If you don't go then I'll have to be there all alone. I'll know no one except my parents. It'll be so boring."

"Invite Soli, or Thisle," Halo said taking a bite of bacon.

"Okay," Crisis said, but Halo knew that wasn't the end. "But when you asked me to follow some rebel girl who dropped her glove I didn't tell you to take Soli, or Thisle."

"That's not the same thing, you wanted to come."

Crisis ignored that last part. "My own best friend, making me go to a ball all alone," she said all dramatic. "I'm just like Cinderella!"

"Pretty sure that's not the story of Cinderella."

"Halo, please?"

Halo sighed. He knew he wasn't going to win this. "How do you know I can even come?"

Crisis's face brightened. "I'll ask my dad!"

And just like that, Halo knew that he would be attending the ball.

"So.. Are you going then?" Marthe asked her as she sat down on a chair.

Aaly nodded, sighing "That's the plan, though I still don't know for sure what will be my mission over there and even worse that girl is coming, it will be risky... If we cross paths there and she manages to recognize me..." She let the sentence incomplete. She knew the answer, she would have to take care of her, and actually Aaly really didn't want to.

"Don't worry, honey. I'm sure they will do a good job at changing your style, at least the best they can do. You can avoid her... Or.. You can always refuse, right?"

Aaly let out a sigh "Somewhat I really want to, you know? I've not been there in 5 years... I don't know how will it be. But... If they need me.. If they really, really need me, I'll have no choice. Believe me Marthe, I wouldn't get you involved if it was not for the fact that the ball will be held in 2 days from now. Monday.. We knew about the ball, didn't expect it to be so soon though. I'm so sorry"

"You know there's nothing to feel sorry about, I would have forced you if you didn't accept my help after the announcement. Now you better go down there Aaly, dear. I'll stay here with little Dan a while longer. Take everything you need and tell those kids good bye on my behalf" Marthe stood up and gave Aaly a little kiss on her forehead "And don't forget to drop by before you leave, young lady"

Aaly gave her a grateful smile and nodded, Marthe had been the closer to a mother she had had after her parent's death. She walked out of Dan's room and walked down the stairs slowly. When she reached the first floor she looked up at Halo and Crisis and just waved her hand "Yo"

Crisis and Halo stopped their conversation when Aaly came back in the kitchen.

"Hey," Halo said. "You're looking better. Oh, and I wanted to ask, is there any place like a storage unit around here? Or mail boxes? a warehouse?"

Aaly raised her eyebrow and automatically answered "Don't remember, don't know. Oh, hey do you know what time is it?" She asked as she poured herself some water from the sink on one of the glasses. Not choosing to sit down on the table with them, but leaning her back against the sink instead.

Halo frowned, he was really hoping that she would know. Halo stood and started to clear the table, realizing that everyone one was finished.

Crisis checked her cell. "It's 9:15," she said "Why?"

Aaly sighed, it was still too early, she set her glass on the sink and looked at them "Well, I found a way to send you back home, today. Unfortunately we'll have to wait till 6pm, there's still a long day to go" She complained. It was not like they bothered her anymore or anything like, even more she had kinda brought herself to like their company, but she really preferred to be on xiii's headquarters by that time

"Really!?" Crisis and halo said at the same time.

"How?" Crisis asked. She was really excited to be going back home sooner than expected. "What's happening at 6?"

Aaly looked out of the window before looking back at her "People will escape" She said simply. Yeah.. There were people over there that thought the same way that Crisis did... They were willing to pay the price to live a better 'life' and so that day and that time was the best to do so. They thought because it was a day and a time in which xiii would't find out they were leaving District 2, but that was a lie, xiii knew it, far too well, but they wouldn't be the ones to stop them, because it was their choices to leave the District and the hope to fight for the freedom they wanted.

"Escape?" Halo asked. "You mean like from here to the other districts?"

"How does our government not notice all these people just crossing districts as they please?" Crisis asked making a face.

Halo ignored her. "Is this safe?" he asked Aaly.

Aaly nodded "Yeah, it is" At least she was sure about that much. She didn't worry about them telling on them, not really because she trusted them, but because when people from her District escaped they were not stupid enough to use the same pathway even twice, so it would be just okay.

"We get to go back," Crisis said with a smile.

"We still have to wait till six," Halo reminded her. "That's about nine hours to kill."

"Right," Crisis rested her chin in the palms of her hands. "What now?"

Aaly rubbed the back of her neck. Yeah.. What now? Nine hours to go sounded worse when they were said out loud. All day wasted... All of her friggin day gone in doing nothing really productive.
