People, even if you aren't in combat, you could talk about what's happened since your character took all this in. Akio, not to pick on you too much, but you were picked up by a bear-man and carried through a maze. He asked you a question, so far he doesn't know your name.
As for those not involved in combat, what are your characters doing? Just staring and watching? Looking over their shoulders to see if anyone's coming up from behind? What are they thinking? Are they worried for those who are risking their lives at the moment? Do they care? Do they think they could dash past the combatants and jump through the gate?
Just spitballin' ideas here, waiting for other people to inspire you is how RP's die, because 9 times out of 10, YOU, are the inspiration for your fellow roleplayers.
