Fantasy Natural Selection (Fantasy/Open)

That's the kind of person Lillif is, he may be blood thirsty but he won't murder you unless you are his enemy or get in his way or, in Ryu's case with him murdering the whole village, is something he thinks that's what Ryu wants dead

uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh You should stay with the lore of what Morgrim's said it to be.

I guess we could offer a few suggestions or guidelines as to making a lore friendly, and original character. Any idea's Jass?

First. What are you trying to do. Give it to me bluntly.

@Morgrim

also she has a character but just needs more detail on what she wants to do with him

I was trying to make him to where he would be one who mistreats people and is very strong yet also very blood thirsty. He get impatient really quickly and likes to make other people's lives miserable, except Ryu's as he would do anything for him, he also is very battle crazy. I was thinking along the lines of Zagi from tales of vesperia, but if you don't know who that is don't worry about it. I honestly wanted to introduce him as working with the knights as a assassin but that's out since it isn't lore friendly

@Morgrim

Is the Nightwalker Faction control any land? Lillie could be a squad leader similar to Wilhelm being part of the Silver Legion

I know I wasn't asked to do this, but here is my output. (And I don't mean to be rude)

crazed battle-hungry psychopath is way over done man, and although it can be good for a few role plays, this one doesn't seem like one it would be. If he was along these lines, the lore of the story would dictates that he would no longer be alive. Also, if he was bloodthirsty and likes to make peoples lives miserable, then he would have no reason to be dedicated to anyone, he would be too busy trying to kill them. On top of this, you basically just took ghirahim straight outta the game and put him into a non-fandom role play with just a few minor adjustments. Additionally, it is a horrible idea to have your characters in love with each other, even if the love is unacquainted, it makes it horribly awkward and pain-staking to role play with them, its kinda the same thing as roleplaying as a child in a non-child role play.

With a lot of tweaking then maybe you could put it as a decent character.

If you want him to be a demon, then you really have only a few choices in this roleplay. Some ideas could be that he is forced to hide from society, or make it so he doesn't know he is a demon.

He is forced to hide from society, always on the lamb, constantly forced to move to avoid capture. He is forced to always weak cloak when entering towns/villages and to pass through quickly, picking up supplies along the way. He has to kill anyone that may reveal him for who he is, constantly hiding his trail. The man could be good or evil, wanting to either destroy those who have forced him into this situation or help paint a better image for his kind and liberate the world of its tyranny.

Going along side the idea that you want him to be, he could perhaps not know who he really is. Born and shunned perhaps, maybe gave up to go to a better place, or a traumatic experience prevents him from remembering his past. There are limitless possibilities for this part. For the bloodthirsty part, he could be only part demon, a hidden part of his past that is unbeknownst to him.. This side of him could be corrupting his train of thought, making him more violent, pushing him to lash out against the world around him and cause grief to others. (This is somewhat along the lines of my Atraxia though. sooo...yeah)

Another kewl idea that actually just came to me, would be to make him a normal human in the beginning of his life, but slowly he turned. He could of made some sort of deal, had been taken over by a spirit, etc... that caused him to slowly corrupt and transform into a bloodthirsty murderer that plunders villages for revenge; a cold monster that is being hunted down while it tries to exterminate all life. (Exaggerating of course, you would have to be very careful with this. Also the spirit thing is also along the lines of Atraxia...)

You don't have to use any of these idea's but here is something to get your brain going

Also, when making a character, you should instead not even start till you have a basic understanding of what your trying to make and consent from the gm if your going for something extreme. You should also not post it until you have EVERY part thought out, not missing one or two. This makes is so you can't add new stuff that gives you an advantage (this is called meta-ing) or something that doesn't belong. (for example, making a psychopath that wants everything to burn, but then added that he will not hurt animals later on...).

Additionally, I just actually had a talk with someone else in a similar situation, so I thought I'd go ahead and give you this as well

It's a little guide book for doing good on roleplaying, you can choose not to have anything to do with it, follow it exactly, or somewhere in between; that's up to you.

For Posting:

Does it make sense?

Can this work at the time basically, for example, a submarine doesn't do you no good in a volcano

Does it flow well ( no run on sentences, proper english, correct punctuation marks, does it end and begin at good places)

Is it what my character would do?

Make sure to allows make sure that it's something that your character would do, not someone else. If your unsure, ask fellow peers you trust with help.

Is this plausible (possible)?

Basically make sure that it is possible, don't be running at 100 mpr if your character can't

Will it be over powered?

Op= not wanted (unless it works in the story)

Is my posting on average at least ____ long? (Put whatever you want for the ____ as a personal goal, and as you grow as a writer, try and make it bigger. When I started I tried to make at least a good paragraph long, and now I try for 2-3)

(this is one I always do for any CS or IC post)

IF your using BBq, first make sure it works in the Privet workshop you set up to make sure nothing get's F'ed up, it happens to me a lot ;-;. Then when posting, click the more options option then the preview option to make sure it will look how you want it.

How can I make this post better?

For example:

Example 1.

John punched Joe super hard in the gut and knocked him unconscious.

Example 2.

With his arms up in a typical defensive boxer position, blocking his face from taking a direct hit while still maintaining eyesight on the equally tough opponent, his eyes cold and steeled, John preceded to approach Joe as Joe preceded to be in a defensive stance. As John approached the man, time began to slow for him, his heart beat began to accelerate slowly; he could feel each beat of his heart. It was now or never, one chance, one opportunity; one of them would win, one would lose this day, that was certain. As they came closer together, John became more aware of his surroundings as time preceded to play normally for him again, and suddenly.

*Whack*

With all the strength he could muster, John launched a fast and powerful strike at his stomach, aiming to render him unable to go on so that he may be victorious this day. He heard a grunt from Joe, and knew that it had worked. He dug his fist even deeper into his stomach to increase the damage before pulling it out and cracking a sly smile. Joe fell to his knees, the wind completely knocked out of him. His eyes met John's before the light left them and he fell to the side, rendered unconscious.

See the difference? It feels so good to put a great amount of detail, that belongs there, to make a post more in depth and flesh out the character, to make it seem more like a book then a comic. True I could of used the first example, but that would be boring and it wouldn't give the other people your are roleplaying with anything to build upon to make the story that much better, as my Band teacher's always say to me: "It's all about the details"

But you need to also watch yourself, don't put so much in that it becomes boring and hard to read (Fluff as we call it), so it will take a while to find a good balance. Another great thing to do is to ask for feedback on your posting from time to time and take notes on what people think you could do better, and try it out privetly (make a privet workshop, its what i did), and find out what your style is. Everyone's is different. For example, I like to make short little 3-5 sentence (or lines) paragraphs before putting making another paragraph and starting again, I just find it easier to read that way.

An example is if you look above at the John and Joe example.

For creating characters:

Does I have a good idea for a character?

Always have in mind a good idea for a character before starting anything, that is important. If you can't think of anything (Getting writers block), then a good thing to do is listen to Beta or Gamma waves as they are responsible for your brain's creativity) This is an example of some

I use this when I get stuck at the BEGINNING of making a character and it works wonders. At the beginning try not to too do it all in one take, take your time and take break. A good thing I do is something I call a "Quick 60" in where for a full minute i jot down idea's for history and personality, then i take a break for a minute. I do this for about 10 minutes and then look at all the notes and see what I could use and what I can't use, then expand from there. They don't have to be sentences even, just quick 1-3 words.

It's also a good idea to have a picture of what the character might look like, so you can make the personality fit better. Then once you get the basic structure for the character, start to listen to your own music that you find creativity for or find a song that fits the character and play it on loop to get in the characters mind, for example I just listened to Disturbed's The Monster for like 6 hours last night while making Atraxia.

Find ways to be creative and let creativity flow is what I'm getting at ^_^

Will the character be unique/ How can I make the character unique ? (here are some good guides I've read to help with this: Beyond the Cliché: How to Create Characters that Fascinate | Write to Done13 ways to create compelling characters )

How will my character act?

What are their motives?

Any physical features that define them?

Any mental characteristics (quirks/ habits) that can make them unique.

For example, One character could tap their left pinkie when they are nervous or someone may put emphases (Stress) on the letter B, so instead of bee, they say B-ee

Will I use a Trope (Go to Home Page - TV Tropes ) to find out more about that

Will it be a mary sue or john doe?

These are infamous characters you wanna stay away from (Unless the story needs one to make it more interesting), they are basically what beginners tend to write. Bland characters with nothing to them, they have the most over powered abilities or defy physics (Please do understand you can get away with a lot of stuff in fantasy settings but somethings are still impossible, for example,a human can't breath underwater just because they are magic). They are infallible at everything they do and everything always works out for them, that's bland and no one wants that.

Also, if you want to make a character that has a huge impact with the story, talk to the gm and other players and see if you can work something out

For being in a role play in general:

1. Make sure to follow (And read) all the rules all the time, even if you don't like them. If you have a problem feel free to talk to the creator in a civilized manner and sort it out with them.

2. Make sure to fit in the with role play standard style (If everyone is doing paragraph long and your using 5 words, that's not good).

3. Make sure to be in the correct setting (Don't be putting wizards in a sim's life)

4. Be respectful to others, even if they irritate you, and keep the problem outside of the RP.

Try talking with the person (and maybe the Gm of the rp) in a privet chat if the problem becomes to much of a problem. (this doesn't mean that you can't have tension between characters in the Ic, that makes it juicy lol, just make sure its between characters, not creators)

5. Never be the center of attention (No one likes attention hogs)

For example, take one of my posts, Atraxia still is involved with the rp but he is not directly involved in any action at the moment. Gotta learn to balance passive and active posts.

6. Always be active, even if not posting in Ic.

Meaning don't abandoned it if it's going slow or don't stop posting if you can't post atm, still stay active in the OOC (Out of content) tab and let them know you are still there. Also they a blast most of the time, you guys get to joke around and think of crazy things that may happen.

7. Talk to the other people involved in the roleplay so nothing crazy happens

8. (The most important rule) HAVE FUN!

@Anaxileah : On the lamb is an expression that means basically your running from the law
