Shinobi Tracking Squad | Near the Border of the Land of Rivers

Sashi’s glossy bubbles swirled through the air, expanding and catching the spider’s legs as it charged. Within seconds, the creature was immobilized, writhing helplessly in a partial cocoon of shimmering slime.
As it struggled, the captain flung a massive fuma shuriken through the air. The heavy blade spun with devastating force and struck the spider squarely in its cephalothorax, silencing its screeches as its body slumped to the ground. Sashi surveyed the scene with a grin.
"And that’s how you stick the landing," he quipped, shaking the residual slime off his fingers with exaggerated flair.
Blood splattered the ground as the spider finally stilled from the added decapitation.
The slime ninja raised an eyebrow, crossing his arms. “Looks like this spider’s officially out of the running for head of the swarm!"
The captain clearly wasn't impressed by his puns. "Okay, okay—I get it. These puns are relentless... much like those spiders used to be!"
The temporary quiet was shattered by the sound of rustling, followed by the emergence of more spiders—various sizes and swarming from all directions. The shinobi tensed, weapons drawn, as the swarm pressed closer. The team captain gave a quick gesture to the south and ordered them to move out.
As the others bolted into action, Sashi held back, crouching at the rear with a mischievous glint in his eye. "I’ll help cover our exit. Wouldn’t want the freaks to miss their show." He brought his fingers to his lips and blew with purpose, summoning a dazzling wall of reflective bubbles. "Bubble Mirror Shield!" he shouted as the shimmering barrier burst into existence.
The mirror-like bubbles refracted the forest’s faint light, creating a kaleidoscope of disorienting reflections that (if successful) would confuse and dazzle the oncoming spiders. Their movements faltered, their chittering becoming erratic as they would struggle to navigate the maze of bright, shifting images.
As the slime ninja jogged backward to rejoin his team, he flashed a grin over his shoulder. "Looks like they’re in awe of my dazzling performance." His voice was light, but his shield held firm, intending to buy the group precious time to escape into the safety of the southern path. The spiders hissed in frustration behind them as the forest closed in once more.

Welp- I don't want to make guarantees on specifics, but should have a post out by or possibly before the weekend. Some recollection will be done beforehand just for good measure. But before too long passed, thought I'd provide a timeline for Aki's response/post. All varies on Rl schedule this week and any changes that occur or don't.

I got this idea for a OC. Been partially processing and developing this idea for awhile tbh, but kept getting stuck on certain things and details. Especially appearance cause uh, my own description seems like it would be less then desirable and up to desired standards on its own. But regardless, was also stuck on other aspects of it.
Now, am closing in and getting through the those obstacles. Thinking of breaking the norm age wise and adding a much older character, likely Chunin rank if only cause of their lack of interest in such things now days and in their time of life. Given the timeline it also would be less reason for him to take on greater responsibility and rank then desired right now. While enjoying some occasional underestimation by others due to perhaps his age and rank. But looking back on some enjoyable canon characters that were older when they debuted and partook in the series, both anime filler and manga. Am thinking this idea could be a lot of fun. Role wise or how they could be used in IC and storyline wise, TBD, but overall a fun seeming idea I've been toying with for awhile now.
Edit: Off memory Kuraji Hyuuga of Luelle's may be the only one so far in his age range.

Actually working on a post now. Super sorry for the radio silence, I’ve been waitlisted/rejected by every university I’ve applied to aside from a couple state schools in spite of a 4.7 GPA, so I’ve been pretty stressed and unmotivated in all areas the last couple weeks. Waiting on two more decisions that come out next week; hoping I’ll feel a little better after it’s all over. I’ll have something out by the end of the day.
