Well, I plan on becoming Britain of the skies in the future... ^^

You both have to modify your bios a little, based on the feedback I gave. Rynnki, you're really close, maybe just make it a little clearer that those big towns are agrarian settlements and a few other small edits. Killer, I posted about some areas you should change on page four. After that you're probably in. In theory Ankou could object, but I'm generally stricter with bios. In any case, we can't start till she has posted. It'd be nice if we had more people, too, but we can probably start rolling with five and hope more come in.KillerKougami said:I'm really excited to develop this. So what should we do now?
So long as you don't give your people every single thing, it's up to you what resources you have. I'll step in if I feel you're being excessiveRynnki said:I'm guessing you're planning on developing a mostly militant country Kou? I'm going economic/tech, although that means I need trade partners... Ah, should we figure out what kind of minerals and natural resources our areas contain? Or did you already have that planned Embluss?
Just keep in mind my earlier post on the size of armies. <10% of you population. Combat-trained percentage can be higher, that number doesn't necessarily count mercenaries/others in violent occupations, so on and so forth.KillerKougami said:Yes I would say that I am leaning towards the militant structure. My plan was definitely for having trade partners. Thats why I have invested so much into my half-breeds, so they can be delegated to fight for other countries for other materials in return.
That's fine, just include text explanations when necessary. Also, do you want the NW or NE of the eastern continent? I'm adding that info to the map draft atm.KillerKougami said:I will do the same. This will probably take me quite a bit of time. Since you want a bit more detail in the government and economy. Would you like me to include pictures and diagrams? I would like to show the hierarchy of the government, and maybe a map with a rough layout of the civilization. I'd also like to add in some pictures of each of the main citizens.
North East Preferably. The elves will live along the coast, while my half breeds will be in training inland.Embluss said:That's fine, just include text explanations when necessary. Also, do you want the NW or NE of the eastern continent? I'm adding that info to the map draft atm.

The yellow portion is perfect for me. BTW, I am still working on editing my bio. Been editing for about 3 hrs, so hopefully this one is much more detailed. I'll probably be done in an hour or so...and then I still need to edit all the different weapons and the magical side to the army. I'll probably upload what I have now, and then after some more input from you, I'll continue to edit.Embluss said:There's always room! The map has tons of open space, more than we'll likely ever use. I haven't double-checked with the guys who have the Yellow and Blue, but purple and green are for sure. Purple is mine, and I'm fine moving around colonies on the mainlands or western bits to accommodate people, if its necessary.
All of my editions to the original text will be made in red. All pictures will be added at the end, with character name and physical description.Embluss said:Sorry! I read half of it earlier and then forgot...
Government could use a little more detail, but is mostly could. For economy, I'm more interested in the market vs command economy, agrarian vs developed, etc, than a count of economic strength. Strength isn't actually that great a descriptor, IMHO.
As for region, this doesn't take place on earth . Can you see the map, or are you having trouble too? It SHOULD be in the main post.
For history, take a closer look at the part of the OP covering the races. I wouldn't say all elves are necessarily weak, but it's fine for your breed to be like that. Not sure how far in the past the human exodus from the steppes should be, but it was probably quite a while a ago... I'll have to consult with Ankou on that one. That'd probably answer the stuff you said we have to "decide on". The early humans would likely have the advantages of the various groups that left the steppes of central asia over the years (Turks, Mongols, various Persian dynasties, etc)- skilled horsemen, a tribe used to moving long distances, etc. And I imagine most would follow the same pattern of settling in and basically becoming the same as the people of the nations they toppled.
Where's the remaining half of the population? Percentages for the various races would be helpful, but not required as well.
Oi, Embluss, the green circle isn't completely barren. They have sea monsters and sheep-reptile things and plants and animals. Most of them are just cuties wildlife critters hideous and may or may not come complete with strange protrusions on their bodies, talons, bloodsucking maws, nasty excretions, toxic flesh, and the likes.IMO, drawing from nature is probably the best bet until there's advanced magitech all set up. Which you can spend a while developing. This method would be good enough for crossing everything but the torrid zone, really. The barren quality of the green circle is made up for the magical field down there. Oceans have plenty of life in them, although you'd probably kill a lot of krill and algae as you went. Ooh, ecological effects!
Yeah thats why I didnt really go into any weaponry details. Enchanting the weapons was actually what I wanted to start out with anyway.Embluss said:Kougami, I'd like for mechanical conduits to be developed in the RP, rather than started with. It's a balancing issue, honestly. Enchanted weaponry is fine, though. That's my final complaint!
Oskar, mostly good. Your percentage of the population in the mines is unrealistically high, and your farming population should be higher. I'm somewhat bemused that so many of the nations submitted so far have corporatist structures when this is in the classical period (long before corporations were even imagined), but I've been letting it fly with everyone else, so I guess this is the logical conclusion. Just remember, every corporation needs a market. Do you have any preference on where your territory is? I have a spot I think would work well, from my eastern frontier on the mainland along the southern coast of that closed-of sea. Good position to have a lot of trade going through, which would make sense with the corporate structure you have.
Schmunky, edit that thing! You've got your government section pasted in twice. One of the times inside the other. You'll also be at a huge disadvantage with a population that small.... Even 400k would be tiny. 4 million would be still be small, but not unrealistically so. And all you people without a clue of where you want your nations.... You should pick something . I posted the map with the current nations marked out a little while back. Humans needn't be nonmagical. IMO, the main elvish advantage is probably cultural, rather than biological. But if your humans don't have any culture of magic and are therefore unable to learn, that's fine. I'm kind of rambling now, I guess. Uh... Oh, what's the basis of the memory wipe? Is it a nonmagical chemical from some plant, or are you working a spell of some sort? That'd be one crazy precise spell...
Ankou, what are you feeling about these?
