Eliza peered at Akira every so often. She noticed that he was forcibly trying to cry. ‘Is that something to do with his quirk?’ A few moments later she saw a shadowed figure seemingly come from the boy. ‘So it is his quirk… Interesting.’ She didn’t quite know what it was exactly, but if it would help scout out the threats, then that’s all that mattered.

“A situation?” Eliza perked up as Akira mentioned something about the robots. “So we aren’t fighting the average green bots then… Oh well, more practice for us then!” She brought her left hand up into a thumbs up sign. Contrary to Akira, Eliza was quite excited about this development. She stood up off of the log and continued to listen to Akira as he spoke again. “50? That’s definitely more than I thought there would be.” She raised her eyebrows at the number of robots they’d have to deal with.

After he was finished explaining the situation, his shadow figure fist pumped Akira and then bowed and vanished all very quickly. Eliza clapped her hands together a moment later. “Alright then, give me one moment please.” She pivoted around and went to the river. She took a glove off of her right hand and activated her quirk. Eliza crouched down and touched the surface of the water. Within a few seconds, the surface of the water froze in a circular radius of 10 feet from her fingertips. She put the glove back onto her right hand and stood up. While turning back around to face Akira, Eliza motioned her right hand in a small circle which caused the ice to then break apart and start to float around her in small little orb shapes.

“Well, since that’s a large quantity of robots, If more come here, I don’t think we’d be able to handle them with just us two. So let’s go back to the others and help them out.” She made another hand motion and the ice orbs moved together into the shape of a snowboard with enough room for two people. “I’m not sure how fast you are, but we don’t have much time so I hope you don’t mind me doing this.” Eliza walked up to him and grabbed him by his left arm slightly above his wrist. She then waved the ice board to go under her feet, then she pulled Akira onto the board as well. “Hold on tight.” Some ice came up around Akira’s shoes to fasten his feet to the board. And with that, she took them sliding on the ice board towards the others.

It was a little slower with two people, but still fast enough to get them back to where the others were in under a minute. She slid over to where Donny was. “Hey, Donny! Plans have changed, there’s quite a lot of robots other than those five. There’s 50 in total to be exact, so we decided to come back here to help you guys together.” After she spoke to Donny, Eliza’s ice went back to herself and left Akira standing close by.

‘What! The- Teachers!?’ Alirah’s face flushed further as her eyes widened. She looked to the ground for a few seconds before lifting her head back upwards to look at Charles with a glare. “I don’t think that should be imagined.” She then nudged him with her elbow to vent out the frustration and panic that his statement just gave her.

After waiting for Charles’ reaction to the nudge, Alirah started walking again, using the same pace as Charles did a few moments prior. She also wanted to take it slow and enjoy the walk back to school. However, their time alone was dwindling as U.A could be spotted in the distance after a few more minutes of walking. Then another couple of minutes later, they were out in front of U.A. Alirah turned to Charles, she was slightly saddened because even though they took their time, it still went far too quickly. “Well…. We are back now..” She said while looking over to the gates that towered above them. Alirah subconsciously squeezed Charles’ hand tighter. She knew that she would have to let go of his hand eventually but the thought of doing so pained her. She turned her head back to Charles with a worried expression upon her face.

A sea of uncertainty

Charles took the poking the ( MisoraUni MisoraUni ) girl performed with her elbow, just between his ribs, like a “man” grunting a bit, but doing nothing else. The girl felt the grip of his hand strengthening, little by little, as their got closer to the school. When they were finally in front of the towering gates, his gaze set upon the gigantic metallic gates. Starting from the top of it, his eyes slowly descending, making their way to the ground and, finally, to the girl that was beside him - “Yes… we are here…” - he said, in a bit of a defeated tone.

He was trying his bet to now show what he was feeling through his expressions, but there was a clear hint of sadness in his eyes. What would happen to them? Did all those events even happen? How would they move on? Those questions appeared out of thin air inside his head and disappeared just as quickly. Seeing the purple-haired girl’s expression, he smiled, forcing the best smile he could form on his lips at that very moment - “Don’t you worry, darling, it is going to be okay. After all… what happened today was real” - even if he said that with confidence, his words were as much to ease Alirah’s worry as it was to convince himself.

He brought his free, right hand to her chin and held it gently - “Do you want to walk inside holding hands or not?” - he asked, his eyes being the kindest she had ever seen up to that point. There was no pressure coming from him, nothing he was trying to hint at - “Even though I have my preferences, I am fine with your own decision” - he ended, while waiting for her answer. The young aristocrat knew that, since they would keep using their nicknames, or at least that was part of the bet, others would sooner or later figure out about their relationship. Even so, he would, obviously, respect the girl’s decision. He waited her answer with patience, waiting to see how they would enter the school.

Alirah pondered for a few minutes if she wanted to continue holding hands with Charles while they were in the school grounds. She peered at Charles coyly for a brief second. “Well…hmm” She looked through the gates to see some people scattered throughout the school grounds. The other students that were out and about most likely weren’t in their class and Alirah only really would be nervous about it if they did it near the others in Class 1C. She turned her head back to look at Charles. “I don’t mind if we continue holding hands until we get to the dorms.” Charles’ kind smile ended up comforting Alirah a lot so she smiled too, a soft sweet smile.

Charles instantly showed an even brighter expression with ( MisoraUni MisoraUni ) Alirah’s decision, almost looking like a small child that was offered to choose from any candy of a candy shop. It was an innocent expression of happiness, and it was the first time the purple-haired girl had seen it. With her hand clasped on his, he dared to walk through the towering gates, walking directly towards their dormitory. He walked at normal speed, not fast, not slow, enjoying the few last moments they probably would be holding their hands together during that day.

When they got to the very front of the dormitory, the young Reiss gingerly let her hand go. He looked at her, turning himself towards her. She could see a slight uneasiness on him, as he peered into her face. He bit his underlip softly, for a moment, before he started to talk - “I had so much fun with you today, darling. I really hope we can do it again soon enough” - after saying that, he got a bit embarrassed, before continuing. His hand let hers go gently, moving to the back of his own head, scratching it slightly - “Hehehe… and don’t be a stranger. Not even for a single moment. Whenever you want to approach and talk to me, you should” - he said, feeling a bit weird for giving her “permission” to do that. Looked like it was a bit still rooted from his own upbringing.

Monday, the Class is back in Session!

Sunday came and went all too fast for teacher and student alike, the one day U.A High had off dissipating into the ether all too soon. And once it was gone, back to studies as always. Mathematics, Science, Social Studies and other core studies were covered as routine, and then came the most exciting class of the day...the Hero Course. Each student was instructed to Ground Omega in their costumes and coming to a halt at the front of the entrance to Omega. The school was a total buzz as they walked through it, it would seem Masa Goro, the C.E.O of 'Hope Works' had held a late-night press conference that hadn't hit the news channels just yet. But whatever he had covered in that conference was aimed against transfer students and heroes once again and proclaiming that Japan needed to start relying on itself once again instead of outside help if it was ever to remain safe. Given the somewhat xenophobic past Japan had as a nation, it was starting to stir up some emotions from the older populace and some of the more conservative individuals across the country.

At the front of the Ground Omega was I.Q, looking as attentive to his surroundings and students as ever. "Good afternoon, 1C. So far you've had lessons on how to evacuate yourselves and your allies, and how to capture villains. Time for lesson three, which is possibly our most important jobs as heroes. Rescue." Stepping to the side to clear the path towards Ground Omega he gestured ahead, speaking again. "Here's your scenario. There are several civilians who are lost and wounded in the woods after a villain attack on a campground. In the panic everyone scattered, but now they're lost, and some of them were heavily wounded in the attack. Your jobs, as heroes, are to save these people and escort them to the exit to me. You'll be graded on a variety of factors...your ability to identify a situation, apply rudimentary first aid, the ability to keep everyone calm, and streamline the process to the best of your ability. You'll have until sundown to search Ground Omega...do keep in mind, none of the villains who attacked were never captured. Any questions? If not, you'll need these." Kicking a small metal box beneath his foot forward towards the gathered class, a collection of ear pieces could be seen inside if one removed the lid, essential to keeping everyone connected in an area like this. "Everyone ready to get back into it?"

Asuka ruffled her feathers Sunday's training but he's an experienced today's task of finding and rescuing survivors what's going to be long training session. With her being avian should be able to get a bird's-eye view over the area and hopefully find some of the survivors but that didn't mean that there wouldn't be some possibly in the buildings which meant had to be careful checking.
" IQ sensei specifically how many people will we be needing to rescue in total?" She asked us to look at the other students or back to the teacher this way they can make sure no one was forgotten which would be a bad thing. ManofManyRoles ManofManyRoles

DONNY YANG

liks82d.png

Donny almost felt like it was cheating, doing some training here. He and a few other students had done some training in Omega too, and while Donny didn't do much during the training he did learn a few new tricks. Namely, using the trees and branches to quickly maneuver through a forest like a ninja. While Donny doesn't really consider himself a very fast person, utilizing his tendrils to basically swing from tree-to-tree was much faster than walking. Aside from that neat trick, another thing Donny picked up from yesterday was a new cloak for his hero costume. After his incident where he was set on fire, the Support Class made a Thermal Cloak for him. This cloak was designed to help regulate temperature, effectively allowing him to use it as a shield against cold or heat. Also in the event that Donny gets set on fire again, he can smother himself with the cloak to kill the flame. Donny doesn't like the idea of getting set on fire again, but he did at least practice the motion he needs to do so next time it happens, he won't hesitate.

Today's training involved rescuing people in a forest. Based off what Donny remembers from his own lessons about what to do when lost in a forest, ideally whoever is lost is staying put. Wandering around is an easy way of making the situation worse for one's self, though naturally Donny knew that people are going to make mistakes and wander off anyways. Thus this training probably would test a different skill set: the student's ability to analyze their surroundings and follow trails. Again, Donny had some rudimentary knowledge of what to do and what to look for. Finding people should be easy enough. First aid though... Less easy. Donny did have some first aid kits as part of his costume, but his actual knowledge was mainly limited to how to wrap a bandage and set a splint. Anything more server than that was well beyond his expertise. Not to mention he's not really much of a people person.

And that wasn't even including the fact the villains are still in those woods. Donny has no idea what to expect. Robots, maybe. But for all he knows there could be other teachers or students there to play the role of villains. There's also the possibility that villains themselves may be in need of rescuing. He remembers watching a news broadcast about how a hero got into a lot of hot water for saving a villain who was trying to blow up a building, and how public opinion turned against him for it. However he soldiered one and made it clear that he tries to save everyone, both innocent and guilty. Donny wondered if he'll have to do something similar during this test. "Well, prioritize civilians first. The important thing is to save them first, and fight bad guys second." Donny thought to himself as he adjusted his costume.

If there was one more thing that Donny knew he needed to do: he needed to form a team. Donny needed to work on his ability to work with others, so what he knew he needed to do was lead a group, or at least work with one. While he's sure everyone has their own idea of how to do things, someone needs to organize it all, coordinate things so everyone isn't doing things that might conflict with one another. Donny felt like he could try and do this job. Emphasis on try. So looking around nervously, Donny slipped his mask over his face and raised his hand into the air. He was breathing hard, as he was very nervous. But this was just one of those things you need to do as a hero! "U-U-Um! Who wants to f-f-f-form a team with me? W-W-W-W-We can work b-b-b-better together!"

Akemi Tajima
Listening to the briefing Akemi's smile grew wider as it went on. After her difficulty finding a way to useful in practice with the robots this assignment played perfectly to her strengths, stepping forward with a swagger and a showy spin of her cane she scooped up an ear piece. "No need to worry Yuki-chan, as long as the 'casualties' still have eyes to see with I'll be able to track them down." The forested environment might afford less landmarks to work off of but she was still supremely confident in being able to apply her quirk to smash the exercise.

Bryn Evan Miles
By contrast Bryn was still looking despairingly at the wall of green before him, no matter how lush it looked as far as his quirk was concerned it may as well be a barren desert. His only hope was finding any vehicles left at the 'campground' to use as materials or if some of the supposed villains were played by robots he could teardown, if they were actual people or the campground was just fluff for the setting he was a bit stuffed. "I'm sure we could work something out Don." He said hopefully, at least in a group he might find someway to pitch in.

Odessa was actually excited about the task. It seemed easy enough and there was a good chance she wouldn't have to use her quirk. After finding out her father was a villain, she never wanted to use her quirk again. It made sense as to why it killed that bird and why it went out of control during the fight with Mr. Gao. Odessa had to make sure she never used it again. Especially since, in this case, civilians were involved. Whatever happens, I have to refrain from using my quirk. Unless I have to, then I'll have to try to control it. She was taken out of her thoughts when the girl asked about the number of civilians. That was important information. They wouldn't want to leave anyone behind. Then, the guy who asked if anyone wanted to team with him. A team is a good idea, but maybe I can try going solo. There'd be less of a risk of me hurting one of them or royally screwing up. Besides, I.Q's giving us earpieces. If anything happens, I can just call for help. Odessa nodded to herself, an affirmation of going this alone.

Clair had spent her entire Sunday in the dorms, in all honesty, she was still somewhat upset about the whole IQ situation but none the less today was a new day and she had done all the sulking she felt was necessary. After all, judging by the text she had received from the Irish Embassy her days could be cut short in the near future and it was probably wise to at least try and enjoy the rest of her time in Japan to its fullest. Arriving at the testing grounds Clair had left the blade she was gifted on Saturday back in her room. The object was far too precious to be flaunted around in the open and much too dangerous too. She was grateful for the item of course but for now, at least she felt it was too heavy a burden to bear.

Standing before the gate with the rest of her class Clair noticed a new face, Odessa Fuyumi. The girl looked like quite an interesting individual but why Clair had yet to see her was something Clair struggled to understand. There were those who joined late on the first day and even on the second but a week later? That was odd. Wasn't Japan a very strict country? Regardless Clair took note of the girl and offered her a smile and wave. Donny had suggested forming a group and Bryn seemed happy to comply, Clair had yet to work with Donny in a team but from what she had seen and heard he was quite a nice guy. He seemed to have some trouble expressing his interests clearly but everyone had their Achilles heel and Clair wasn't one to judge. She had plenty of her own anyway. Thinking on the subject for a few seconds she decided it best to join a group, she felt her quirk would have made the task easy enough on her lonesome but in the real world heroes worked in teams. Of course, there were those who didn't like Hawks, All Might and Endeavour but for a normal hero, it was a team-orientated workplace.

Making her way over to Donny and Bryn, Clair make a quick jump at Donny from behind, hooping her arms around his neck loosely as she balanced herself against him "A team huh, sounds like fun! Count me in Donny!"

There was a pinch of Ryo's tongue, a lapsing sigh as he nodded to today's exercise. Mobility and rescue, those were undoubtedly Ryota's weakness. What was insult to injury, however, was the landscape. Ryota peered into the forest's abyss, it was a dream for anyone with a flexible mobility quirk, but for a "boots on the ground," type hero, the trees were nothing more than an arduous hurdle he needed to overcome. There was one caveat, a relieving factor, however, and that was the shade the trees provided; he and Eliza would at least be staying cool.

He scrubbed the bottom of his mask in thought: what is it I can even do in this situation?, the pistons of his mind pondered. Unless there was a lake or a body of water he could test his quirk on, Ryota was nothing more than a regular person, a walking ice pack for bruises at best. Yet, Ryo believed the exercise would not be so simple, there had to be a twist, he firmly believed. If there were villains, he would most fit the role of the team's muscle.

His eyes wandered about the other students, it appeared teams were being formed. It was a solid idea, cover up weaknesses by accessorizing with the other students, build a team like a robot, with tools that could take on any obstacle. Who could patch up his weaknesses, though? Ryota had one person in mind, if person was truly the right way of addressing this student...

He walked up to Haruto Archdemon Archdemon , offering not much more than a subtle wave. Distance was kept of course, the cold breeze becoming ever more frigid as Ryota made his presence known to the arachnid.

"Hey." Ryota opened. "I think we'll work well for this mission, what do you say we start a team?"

"Dont get me wrong Akemi but wouldn't your Quirk be useless if the person was blind so knowing about how many people to look out for would be better they just going in blind and donny is. Right in saying we should work in teams." She stated that she looked about the rest of your classmates the word train back to Akami to gauge their reaction to what she just said.

Saturday
Initially feeling dejected from his failure to support his teammate ( Deathkitten Deathkitten ) or catch Phantom Quartz, ( SilverInu SilverInu ) and after recovering from a near heart attack when he heard Mr. Fist ( Maxxob Maxxob ) on the phone with All Might, Gary spent the night binge eating and talking with the old man before retiring to the baths to wash up and then to his room to fall into a deep sleep.

Sunday
It was starting to become a pattern for Gary to sleep far longer than expected. Hed never had to work so hard in his life as he seemed to consistently be doing at UA. He did briefly wake up to the sound of cannon fire ( Cam E. Leon Cam E. Leon ) but the somnal quicksand took him back just as quickly. It wasnt until about 1 PM that Gary got out of bed. He went to his computer to look up what time it was in Indiana and decided it a suitable time to call home.

His dad was the one to pick up; a successful contract attorney- he took his weekends as seriously as his job. It was Saturday night in the USA and Papa Dworkin was a little tipsy. They talked about the usual things youd expect: how Japan was, how classes were going, how Gary's mom and sister were, what was going on in Indiana. Gary avoided asking anything about his old friend Wayne. When Gary told his dad that Sunday was his one day off his dad joyfully replied "Well you gotta treat yourself then! Sunday Funday! I'm going to put some money in your account, go spend it on something you like."

After hanging up with his father he checked his account. +$1,000. HELL YEAH! Gary looked up things to do in Tokyo and saw that there would be a Sumo Basho soon. He needed to save some of his money to attend, hed always wanted to watch a real sumo match.

He decided hed go lift some weights and run some laps before taking off into the city to find an onsen and some ramen. After a successful night of hot baths and broth he retired back to his dorm feeling fat and cozy for another nights sleep.

Monday
Another long nights sleep. Once again, Gary found himself scrambling to meet up on time with the rest of the class but after a relaxing day off he felt himself more at ease with the pace that the school worked them at. IQ ( ManofManyRoles ManofManyRoles ) had the class meet at Ground Omega, a far more natural setting than the students prior exercises had taken place in. This was good for Gary, hed be able to tear through this terrain much easier.

This exercise was a rescue lesson. Gary took a big whiff in, his quirk allowed him to identify smells over miles. He could smell the scents of his classmates, both familiar and unfamiliar, as well as more people deeper in the forest. There was one scent that cut through the others though, that of soap and gasoline... the smell of...

"DONNY!" ( Lucius Cypher Lucius Cypher ) Gary exclaimed. He walked up to the first friend hed made in class who was currently being hugged by the green haired Clair ( Uasal Uasal ). Gary threw his arms in an embrace around the both of them, as well as a nearby tall dark haired boy he hadn't yet met ( IG42 IG42 ), and lifted them off the ground. After gently setting the three of them back on the ground, he continued "If you need any help with tracking, or lifting, or digging- I'm your guy" pointing at himself with his right thumb.

The previous day, Eliza and a few other students had gone to do some training at omega. Now they were having an actual class there. Eliza now has a step above the other students that didn’t do their makeshift training against the robots yesterday. She had paid attention to certain landmarks and other various things when going through the woods with Akira the other day.

Eliza was wearing the same new gear from yesterday, a white long sleeved bodysuit, lavender leggings, all with a thick specialized fabric, snow boots with retractable bottoms to expose her feet when needed, a snowboarding type helmet, and lastly, her water tank backpack.

After Eliza picked up an earpiece and attached it to her ear, she began to scan around, looking for anyone familiar that she could team up with. A few moments later, she spotted the spider boy, Haruto. She was teamed up with him last class so she thought why not? Eliza calmly made her way towards Haruto when another person had gotten to him first. It was Ryota. She stopped walking for a second, but started again. The more people, the better, in her opinion. For a task such as rescue, teams should be greater than just two people.

Eliza came up behind the two boys and tapped Haruto on his shoulder lightly. “Hey~ You remember me from last time right? Would you mind if I joined as well?” She retracted her hand a moment later and began to think for a few seconds while shifting her gaze between Haruto and Ryota. A moment later she spoke again, “Also, I will be useful to you, as I was just here the other day with a few other students. I know where some things are in the forest, including a river, among other landmarks, so we shouldn’t get lost while completing the rescue mission.”

Mondays, amirite?

As it often occurred him every monday-morning, Akira’s body tumbled down the bed and his brain went autopilot for the rest of the day. It was something he picked up on ever since his highschool days, he wouldn’t speak anything short of basic responses, he wouldn’t stop staring off into space with drool pouring out the corner of his mouth – As if a curse, or a boon some might say, Akira turned into a zombie whenever the student life called out to him. And the curse would not be broken until a bell rang and classes were over. Or until someone slapped the blank stare out of him, whatever came first.

Out of all the students gathered at ground Omega, he was the only one far in the back, his hand gingerly holding onto the straps of a guitar case and his eyes downcast, with the cow-webs of ‘not a good night’s sleep’ still clouding his stare, looking as if the slightest breeze might topple him. Needless to say he didn’t reap much sleep much after yesterday’s training; most of his night was spent tossing and turning over his costume damn near being torn apart by robots, making calls to a friend with the right quirk back in Kabuki-cho in attempts to fix the gigantic gash in his costume, and feigning the right tone when his dad called to ask him if the suit fit. Such was the life of a hero in training. He’d brought his guitar along just to cover up the hole in the back of his blazer. It was barely day one and he already felt his soul being syphoned out by this school.

It was better than staring blankly at the ceiling back in his apartment, at the very least – “Yeah, uhh…I.Q Sensei, Sir, Mister, Teacher, Intellect-Quotient-Man…” – He started shortly after everyone else, an almost slurred tone as he began tossing epithets at random in attempts to reorganize his thoughts. Feeling his face heat up a little, Akira hurriedly scratched the back of his head as nonchalantly as he could make it appear, maybe trying to claw the words out of his mind. It was a struggle to fully wake himself up. But he pulled through – “I have a question. What exactly is our deadline? Like an hour in specific. I’m not good with times of the day and all that, don’t really know who this sun guy you’re talking about is and why or when he’s going down.” – He managed to somehow say all of that with a straight face. A moment of sharp, very awkward, pause dawned on him. He blew quietly into his hand, - "It's freezing out here, huh..." -, he murmured discretely to the warm breeze flying around, all in much the same fake nonchalance as before. Akira tried to redeem himself with a less idiotic question, eyes watery and gleaming – “And do we get any extra points for capturing these villains you mentioned?” – His mouth became a grim line after he was done. He stood there not really waiting for his answer, but rather hoping he could sheepishly nod at whatever IQ was about to say and keep some of his dignity. His eye twitched, and as it did, a single, very small tear rolled down the side of his face, strands of hair flaring up for a moment.

It truly was a heavy burden, being the guy with the stupid questions.

A breath of air drifted out of ground Omega’s gargantuan forest, a hot gale that wafted into his face, carried the sweet scent of – “Autumn? Fall? Whatever.” – He didn’t exactly know his seasons either, if he did he would also be able to recognize when sundown in japan was, but either way, whatever it was, it was refreshing enough to wake him up a little. Akira went to grab an earpiece and held back the urge to jump into Donny’s team immediately. It seemed yesterday’s team was already starting to gather, with some familiar faces standing out of the crowd, but alas, Akira was feeling anti-social today. After their skirmish with the robots, both Akira and his phantom realized that they would only be part of the MC-Hammer for a couple of minutes before they ran out of juice. If he wanted to take this hero thing seriously, he would need to rely less in his phantom. As much as it pained him not to call him for the most trivial of tasks, Akira grudgingly refused to manifest his shadowy friend up until this point. They had not seen each other since, and it was starting to eat away at Akira.

Nevertheless, his resolve remained unwavering, he would go at this rescue drill on his own and succeed. Somehow, at least. He was leaving most of the planning for his future self, Akira from the present was living the moment for now – “Eh, it’ll work out on its own I guess…” – He sighed, fixing the earpiece on as his attention drifted to a face he didn’t quite recognize. Someone that for a moment he noticed had that faraway, deep in thought glare of a fellow loner. A girl whose presence he didn’t quite catch back in their classroom or at the dorms – “Small.” – Was sleep deprived Akira’s first impression of her. Smaller than him, in fact. An achievement of its own merit given how he’s been smaller than everyone else so far.

Now, while he did want to put his strength to the test, there was also that side of his brain telling him that going at it alone was a terrible idea. Even if they were all technically part of the same rescue team and could call for help on their earpieces, Akira was still just the everyday shut-in without his phantom. He needed at least one partner in crime to back him up out there. Besides, short, lonely people needed to have eachother's back – “Yo! Think we should team up? I mean, Everyone’s already with Donny and the others and we're both kinda on our own from what I can tell. Besides I thought maybe we could catch a couple more points if we split up from the main group.” – Akira stepped up to Odessa from behind, beaming at her with his trademark big moronic smile. He took a pause to dust away the cob-webs of sleep off his mind, yawning and stretching as he eyed the lush forest. Akira then bowed at the girl, casual, almost a nod – “Name’s Akira, by the way. Kobayashi Akira. Don’t think we’ve met.”

Odessa snapped back to reality and out of her thoughts when a random guy started talking to her. She studied him. What did he say? He wants to work together? Odessa blinked a few times. "Nice to meet you, Akira. I haven't met most people here since I came pretty late. My name's Odessa Fuyumi." She realized how quiet she was talking and cleared her throat. Her eyes shifted to her feet. "I suppose we can work together, if you really want to." Odessa said this a bit louder and grimaced. She didn't want to team up with anyone, but she didn't want to blow him off either. Especially, since everyone else already teamed up.

Emrik

Doctor Shikaru sighed ever so slightly, it was early Monday morning and he hadn’t had his coffee yet. Honestly, the thing he was least expecting was to have someone knock on his office door first thing in the morning. It was noted that they could get out of class to come talk to him but they would have to get the notes from a fellow classmate later.

“The door is open, come in and take a seat, I’ll be with you in a moment.” His coffee was taking its sweet time being made. Clearly, the universe was torturing him, but hopefully, it would be done soon as he took his seat and looked up at his first guest.

Emrik, not really much of a morning person either, was the one at the door. He came in and sat down, yawning, eyes half-closed. God, Sunday went by way too fast. He wanted more time off. Japan was on drugs thinking one day a week was enough of a break.

“Heya Doc,” he called out, yawning into his hand, “I wanted to get this over with asap. I smell coffee. Can I have a cup too?”

James smiled as he saw Emrik, while it was true he had to have these sessions it was a bit refreshing that he didn’t have to chase him down to get him to come to this. Pulling himself up from his chair he poured himself a cup of coffee and one for Emrik as well. Moving to Emrik he placed the cup on the small table in front of him.

“Here you go, Emrik, be careful it’s fresh. Try not to scold your tongue, okay?” The Doctor said quickly before taking a sip of his own to wake himself up a bit.

Emrik just nodded and took a careful sip, eyes closed as he enjoyed the sweet sweet taste of caffeine, “Hot damn I needed this. Mm.” He sighed, opening his eyes again to look at the doc, “Let’s cut to the chase. I’m still having nightmares. No surprise there. Mostly the same stuff as usual; torture, parents dying, etc. Makes it a pain in the ass to get a full night’s sleep. Mmm… let’s see, what else?”

“Oh, I’m taking the iron pills as requested. I also had the thought that maybe I should try eating better than I do. Maybe I wouldn’t get so dizzy.”

“Good, good. That will make sure you’re getting the necessary things needed for your continued growth and promoting good health for your future. Believe it or not, a bit of coffee is good for you as well.” James said this as he took his seat nursing his coffee while trying to keep himself awake for the moment.

“So tell me how was your time in catch the teacher? Did you have fun?” He said, having a rather relaxed look on his face.

Emrik shrugged at his question and sighed, “I guess? I feel like you made it a little too easy on us. I know I wouldn’t have stood a chance against you if you were trying basically at all.”

“Well there are a few things you could have done… but you’d need to start getting better physically. Your weak constitution is a hindrance but you will be better soon. I’ll be sure to help you get there so long as you stick to a good diet with the help of Lunch Rush.” James sighs as the coffee starts to work his magic. “I will be sure to oversee it to its completion.”

Looking up from his drink he relaxes putting his legs up on his desk leaning back in his chair. “So Emrik, what do you think about your fellow classmates so far? Any of them making it difficult for you or having trouble talking to any of them?”

“Ugh. Even having a hero as a lunch person… so weird. I also think it’s weird you’re so invested in me. But whatever,” Emrik grumbled, considering his question, “As for trouble… not really. I have a short fuse so people generally don’t like me at first anyway. I haven’t had enough alone time with them for them to get to know me beyond just me being angry all the time.”

He sighed and continued, “I want to get to know some of them. There’s this ice girl that’s kinda cute, and I like the bird girl, and the blind girl. Even if it didn’t seem like I did. They both seem really smart. I don’t remember their names right now. I haven’t gotten to know any of the boys yet. I’m curious about that spider kid, but he’s kinda hard to miss in a room, ya know?”

“Hmm, that’s good. If you’re not having any troubles then it will have a bunch of friends in no time don’t you think?” James was actually very happy that Emrik wasn’t having too much in the realm of troubles with anyone. “As for the girls' names, they are, in order from your description, Eliza, Asuka, and Akemi. Each of them has quite a unique character… I’m sure that you’ll have time to make friends with at least one of them.”

“Haruto is the spider you are referring to. He seems like a nice boy, I’m sure you can talk to him about anything so long as you watch that swear happy mouth of yours.” He said finishing off his cup of coffee.

Emrik gave the good doctor an evil grin, “Whatever do you mean, sir? My mouth is positively heavenly.” He chuckled, “I don’t know if I wanna make friends with any of them yet. I mean… I do, but… I seriously doubt any of them would actually like me.”

“All of them want to be here. They worked their asses off to get here. My existence is practically spitting in their faces. I’m just some villain punk. Even if I really tried to become a hero, they’d still hate me for where I came from…” he frowned into his coffee, “Not that I know why I even care… it doesn’t matter anyway. I’m gonna become a hero one way or another. I don’t have a choice - make it pretty easy that way.”

“Do you think those heroes would have killed me too if I didn’t have a healing quirk…?”

“Emrik, I know that you have a lot of things buried deep inside… But I can say with extreme certainty they wouldn’t have done anything to you. To my knowledge, it is unlawful to attack you just because you were present. You weren’t a villain by your own choice. No matter what your quirk was, that hero would have been put in jail for killing a kid.” James put down his cup and locked his eyes on Emrik. “He is in jail already for killing your parents, but if he killed you too he would have tacked on another ten years on top of the seven a piece for your mother and father. I don’t think any hero wants to be in prison for killing who he’s supposed to put in jail.”

“…I don’t think it was for killing them. I’m pretty sure it was for the torture…,” he mumbled in response, “But… uh… yeah. I guess that’s an okay point. They probably didn’t even know what my quirk was until after they… made me use it…” His fingers tenses around the coffee cup, staring into it like it could answer the questions of the universe. It had been a little while since then, but it still made him scared to think about what happened.

“And they went to jail without any of my testimony, too, so… I guess it’s okay. Sometimes my nightmares have the hero looking for me. Hunting me down like he missed a kill,” Emrik said in a long breath, “I haven’t… I mean… you know I haven’t really talked a whole lot about it yet to you… it’s hard to talk about. I was helpless. Completely useless.”

“Well, Emrik… I may not be the person you’d like to speak with. I’m by no means anyone you should be okay with, especially when I’m a hero too. I don’t blame you if you dislike heroes for the rest of your life. That’s something you’ll have to deal with for the rest of your days. It doesn't get better as soon as you’d like it to. I’d love to be able to take away all the pain that you’ve felt from that harsh time in your life.”

James took a deep breath and got up out of his seat and traversed his way across the room and took a seat next to him. “Emrik, there are some lessons in life that we are taught the most difficult of ways. Through tragedy, and heart-break, fear, and pain. These things will stick with you, and as much as I’d like to put faith in something I spent so long working towards to help people, what I say can easily be ignored or dismissed. It takes a willingness to change for anything I say to help you. It wasn’t exactly my idea to have you enroll here, but I think maybe in time you’ll come to find your own purpose here. Once you graduate you can do anything you set your heart on. Becoming a prosecutor, or a part of law enforcement to punish heroes that get out of line. To become like me, a doctor who helps people or even just a guy who works at the corner store, that's just a little extraordinary. That’s all up to you, and no matter what you’ve chosen for yourself even if you decide to go to a life of crime. That’s the choice you took to heart no one has the right to stop you.”

Emrik choked out a laugh, crying despite himself. He couldn’t bring himself to meet the doctor’s eyes, but he smiled a little as he looked at his lap, “Doc I trust you. Hell, you’re the closest thing to family I have right now, and you’re a hell of a lot better than my parents were. Damn it… your sappy ass speech is making me cry…”

He sniffled and rubbed the tears away with an arm, “I trust you. I trust this school, too. Hell, I don’t even really hate heroes. My parents abused me since I could remember. It’s not like them dying was that bad of a thing. It’s just the way they got killed. I’m not scared of heroes as a general statement. I’m scared of when heroes go bad. I’m scared of vigilantes. I don’t trust the other teachers and the principal on a personal level, but I trust that they’re good people. Like IQ. He’s clearly good people. You’re good people. Lunch Rush is good people. I’m just haunted by the damage, I guess. PTSD or whatever you call it.”

Emrik managed a glance at Doc, “I didn’t feel like I could talk to anyone before. I was just a villain kid. A mess to clean up that no one really cared about. They just want my quirk to be used for good… which… I mean that’s not a bad thing. It’s not like I hate society or have some grand evil plan. I don’t know what I want to do when I grow up. I like the idea of healing people… and I… I mean I think you’re a cool hero… so I wouldn’t mind being like you… so… I guess that’s a good goal for now…” he muttered, then sighed very loudly, “The hero toyed with me, too. Before he killed my parents. They were tortured. I… wasn’t left out of that… it’s okay though! I was at least kind of used to it anyway. Like I said my parents sucked so… I can take a beating.”

James listened to everything Emrik had to say, the statement that he doesn’t hate heroes, was progress. Hating vigilanties, however, is normal especially with his history. Supposed heroes who act by their own justice are dangerous because while they may do a good thing… Killing the villains you seek to bring to justice is no different from murder.

A sense of pride welled up when Emrik wanting to be like him made him smile although the fact that he was abused as well by the vigilante was new information. This wasn’t ever reported, meaning someone didn’t do their jobs correctly. He was going to be making a phone call later.

“Being beaten and abused isn’t something anyone should be used to, Emrik. It pains me to know that you were a world away experiencing that. Now that you’re in the light, I hope that you’ll never have to experience something like that ever again.” James lifted his hand and lightly set it on Emrik’s head. “I might not be the strongest guy in the world but I’ll keep looking after you until you want me to stop doing so. Okay?”

“…Okay Doc… I appreciate it,” he sniffled, rubbing his eyes again, “…your coffee needs more sugar.” He had already finished the cup, of course, but this was enough emotion for one day, damn it. He forced a smile to go along with the deflection, “You can fix broken bones but your coffee is way too bitter for my taste. I’ve got a sweet tooth.”

“Hey what are you complaining about when you're awake now aren’t you?” James chuckled a bit, messing his hair a little. “Now go on and have a good rest of your day okay? I can’t promise that you’ll ever get sweet coffee when I’m making it. Bitter is better for you and how bitter you act sometimes it’s just perfect.”

Amara

After sending Emrik off and getting a moment to himself he typed a bit on his laptop, making a note to call the police station and chew out those idiots for not doing their jobs correctly he looked at his clock. “Huh, so Emrik was only here for about thirty minutes huh? Well, that’s more than the last time I suppose I should be glad he’s opening up at least.” His thought process was halted by a new face entering his office.

The petite blue haired girl peeked her head in after giving a too-soft knock. It was Amara. She offered a shy smile, “Ah… I know you said it was okay to meet with you… but I’m… um… I’m not bothering you or getting in the way of anything, am I? If I am, I can come back later instead…”

James smiled at the girl and shook his head. “No, no.. by all means Amara, please come in and take a seat.” He opened a drawer and looked inside for a moment before pulling out a small bag of suckers and walked over to sit across from Amara, setting the bag on the table after opening it. “So is there anything that’s on your mind? It could be anything you want to talk about.”

Amara sat down as requested and took a sucker, twirling it nervously in her fingers, “I… I guess so. Kind of. Um. I’m really a rather shy person. I have trouble talking to people confidently. But I really want to make friends and I’ve met some really cool people. I feel like if I want to be a good hero I need more confidence… and um… you’re a doctor, and this is a therapy thing. I don’t know how this works… Can you… help with that? Please?”

James hummed a bit as she spoke, it was rather refreshing to hear she had a normal issue. Lacking confidence is something that can derive from a few select places, but finding out which place this comes from would be the key to finding her hidden courage she’s got somewhere deep down inside.

“Well, finding one’s confidence is a lot harder than some make it out to be, and that’s the truth.” His eyebrows pushed together as he spoke, his hands folding together as he rested his elbows on his knees. “But, I do know that this is a problem a lot of people have. At one time Aiko was shy around other people other than myself and father. Even though I was shy for a time I eventually worked past it. This can come from multiple places, anywhere from household issues, to bullying, even just living in a less than communal area. However, being shy isn’t a bad thing. Knowing when to speak up when it’s required, that’s the thing you’ll need to work at. I can help you with that, it may take a little time, but a few sessions with me and I’m sure you’ll be capable of speaking your mind to anyone even if your voice is soft you can speak volumes just by changing the emphasis of your words.” Doctor Shikaru made sure to speak calmly and did exactly what he planned to teach her to do herself. Keeping a distinct tone for most but making sure that she was paying attention to his words changed the tone of some words to add a bit more umph to them.

Amara was all for it, nodding along and clearly paying a lot of attention. She really wanted to be more confident and wanted her words to carry weight to them! This was important to be a hero!

“Oh, ah, I wasn’t bullied, by the way. I also have a really nice family… so that wasn’t really a problem. I am from a rural town though. So maybe that’s it? I’m not used to this many new faces… or this much attention in general. UA is so famous,” she chuckled, giving him a sweet, genuine smile, “You make it look so easy, Shikaru-Sensei.”

“Easy you say, no. If it were easy then everyone would do it. It takes the correct personality or dedication to learn it. People who are outspoken or initially powerful with their words, have an extremely hard time with something like this. You, Amara, are more or less perfect for this way of speech.” James said making himself more comfortable on the couch. “Though I am curious, what brought about your visit today? Was there someone you wanted to speak to more clearly or maybe it was hard to speak to?”

Amara turned red, feeling her blush creep its way onto her cheeks and the tips of her pointed ears, getting warm, “Ah, I, I mean… k-kind of. I met someone yesterday on our day off. He’s so cool and confident and he’s got this powerful air to him. I swear I recognized his name from somewhere but I couldn’t pinpoint it. I want to talk to him more, and so I thought that your offer of coming here was a good opportunity.” She hid her face in her hands, totally embarrassed, “He spoke with so much confidence! His name is Kallen. And he’s got this really pretty white hair… and…” she trailed off, explaining details of the man that had so thoroughly caught her attention.

Dr. Shikaru shook his head, thinking ‘Ah, it’s a boy. She wants to learn how to speak more clearly so she can maybe confess her feelings to him at some point.’ This was his initial trail of thought, her reactions just thinking about him were that of a huge crush and she had it bad for whomever the guy was.

It was when the name came out when James’ body froze, he was hoping it wasn’t the Kallen that he thought it was. The more she described him, the more certain he was. Amara, this sweet child, has fallen hard for the literal embodiment of death and destruction. Kallen K. Griffin, otherwise known as Khorne, the literal blood god himself. He automatically thought to himself, ‘I’m not getting paid enough for this, between Emrik and now Amara to worry about I’m going to have heart problems by the time I’m thirty-five.’

“I… I see that you’ve got quite an admiration for Kallen, did he do anything to you other than potentially steal your heart?” He said trying to be serious but he had to make light of this fact to keep her talking.

If her face could get any redder it would have. She didn’t even notice him freezing; she was so far off in her own thoughts. “I… you… he… I mean… is…,” she stuttered, hands flapping, “…I don’t know that I’d call it that! I mean… I guess I have a little bit of a crush on him… but… I only just met him! I just want to make friends.”

She bit her lip, scrunching her face as she tried to think of how to answer his question, too damned adorable for her own good, “Well… I felt like he was really lonely. Not just lonely like sad, but lonely like… like he’s all alone on a deserted island. I felt like someone who had that aura to them really needed a friend. Then I got talking with him and he’s really well spoken and charming and he’s very polite and chivalrous. He looked kind of surprised that someone like me would approach him. I guess I am pretty small and unassuming, so that makes sense… I decided I wanted to be his friend. He needs a friend and I need more friends and more confidence. So it’s a good match… I wonder if my parents would approve…”

James took a deep breath, and wondered how he should tell her he’s a dangerous man and she should be very careful around him. “Okay, Amara, I think I should tell you about that man you met yesterday. His name is Kallen K. Griffin, and while I am all for you making friends, and I can’t tell you who you can and can’t become friends with. He’s a very dangerous man, and in classification he is a technical sort, a villain or vigilante. He uhhh, twenty years ago he killed a hero who taunted him, and he to this day is someone that everyone fears. So I’m going to ask you not as your teacher, but as someone who is looking out for you. Be very careful with what you say to him if you do see him again.”

Her face dropped with the news, her mouth opening and closing a few times as she tried to figure out her thoughts, to figure out what to even say. “He’s… a villain? But… but he was so nice… and… how? Why… if he’s a villain then why isn’t he in jail?” She muttered, totally crestfallen, “What’s his alias?”

“His alias is Khorne… this name means Blood god. I don’t know everything about him. From what I do know is that he’s generally peaceful. He’s been here in Japan for the past sixty years. I’m not sure of his history before here, but I can tell you that when he came here, he broke into a news station and made a declaration, his name was Kallen Kami Griffin, and he was taking residence here in Japan. He would not raise his sword to any innocent man, woman, or child. He would not cause any trouble for anyone provided they left him alone.” James paused tapping his finger on the coffee table. “The Japanese government must have known something that the general populace didn’t because they ordered for all heroes to do as he said. Leave him alone, don’t piss him off. Whatever he was known for, was enough to paralyze the whole country. It didn’t take long for people to forget, but the hero association took this seriously, they made sure that everyone knew who Kallen was, and to leave him alone. It worked for forty years. Until a foolish man made a declaration, He said, ‘I will be the one to take down the monster that sleeps among us. I will defeat the Blood God.’ Many had made that statement as they rose to power, but none ever had the blind courage and folly this man had. He cornered Kallen in the street, and attacked him. According to what witnesses said, the hero was the aggressor, and Kallen asked him to leave him be, but the hero refused.”

Doctor Shikaru got up and went to his laptop looking up the incident report and the newspaper article. “Foolish Hero who taunted the Blood God, met his end impaled with a stop sign. I know this isn’t easy for you to hear, but since that day he made a single statement… “To those who show me kindness I shall repay that kindness tenfold. To those who pay me in violence and hate, I shall repay it in blood a thousand fold.”

“So while I warn you to be careful, it isn’t my place to dissuade you. If you want answers, and you’re willing to find them. Ask Kallen yourself, if he did speak to you. You may have a chance to find out anything you wish to know about him.”

Amara went quiet for a long moment, brow furrowed as she thought. When she did speak, her voice was more firm, “If he’s simply defending himself, albeit a bit more violently than he strictly should, then I don’t morally have a problem with it. I don’t agree with it, and I wouldn’t have it in me to be that violent to someone even if they did hurt me, but I understand the reasoning. I don’t think it’s wrong.”

“If I want to continue to talk to him, and I do, I don’t plan on being anything but kind anyway. It’s not in my nature to be mean,” she said with a sad smile, “He must really be so lonely to push everyone away like that… I want to ask him about it, about a lot of stuff. He’s so much older than most everyone else. He must be really knowledgeable.” She teared up and sniffled, looking up at Shikaru-Sensei, “Do you want to meet him with me?”

The good doctor could only nod his head at her statements, because she was correct. He was indeed defending himself. Granted he took it a bit too far, but his message was made and people haven’t forgotten this time around. There were some that speculated he used a stop sign on purpose. He used it to get his point across. However, going to meet that man was something he couldn’t bring himself to do.

“Amara, as much as I want to go with you and ensure your safety. I wouldn’t be able to stop him. From what you’ve told me, he is calm around you, and I’m sure he’ll tell you if you are making him upset. It may be due to the fact that you aren’t a hero yet, or that he believes you are a normal kid. Either way, showing up to meet him with a well known hero may end badly. So it would be safer for us both, if I didn’t go, and you kept your meetings with Kallen a secret. As your counselor I can’t disclose anything to anyone without your permission unless you are under threat of mental health collapse or death by self affliction, so i want you to promise me something. I want you to promise me that you’ll always come back to school an hour before curfew, on days you meet with Kallen. Also, to alert me if at any time you feel like you're in danger. Do you understand?”

“Wh-what??? No! No. I don’t mean to protect me! I mean for you to become friends with him too! Since he’s so lonely, two friends are better than one, and you’re old so you can talk to him about older stuff,” she huffed, “And why should I keep it a secret? If the rules are just to not poke the bear, then it should be fine, right? Or do you think other people might try to bother him through me?? Oh no… I don’t want that…”

Amara curled her finger against her lip in thought, “I promise. I don’t want to worry you, Shikaru-Sensei. I still want to try to be his friend since I feel he needs it, but I’ll make sure to be really careful.”

“Good, it helps me breathe a little easier. I know that you’ve taken a liking to him, and I will support you in your goals. Even if that is difficult for me, it is something I must allow you to do. Your growth as a person and this experience will likely be positive and you’ll learn much more out there than in here.” James clearly was struggling with himself to say such things. “You must do whatever it is in your heart that is right. That’s part of being a hero. If your heart says that you should make him a friend. Then do what you must. Though, once you know him… and if you trust him, have him walk you home and let him know of your dreams. Should he not change how he views you, then… I will not bring this up again.”

“………..Soooooooo… he already knows I wanna be a hero. I don’t talk to people well, but I was trying really hard to be sociable. And it’s one of the big things going on in my life to talk about,” she explained, going a little sheepish again, “Heh… he didn’t really care about that. I get the sense he doesn’t care if someone is a hero or a villain or whatever. He just wants to be… oh I don’t know… maybe he just wants to feel safe? I mean I didn’t go on a whole tirade about my dreams and aspirations or anything. It was just small talk. I said I’m going to UA.”

James just let out a sigh of relief, yep it’s official he was going to have heart issues. “Okay, well… just keep the promise and I won't bring this up to anyone else. If you’re late, text or call me and let me know alright? It's hard enough to know that you’ll be near one of the most dangerous men in all the world. Just please don’t worry me any more than you already are okay?”

“Hey! That could also mean I’m in the safest place if I become real friends with him! Try not to worry too much. I’ll be okay,” she beamed, then stood and offered the doc a hug, “Thanks a lot for talking with me. It was important for me to understand what I was getting myself into. I appreciate it, Sensei. Do you have anything else or should I leave so you can go on to your next student?”

The doctor sighed, moving to Amara and giving her a light hug. “No that’s all, go on and head back to class. I think that, you have new friends to make.” He smiled down at her and gave her a pat on the back before returning to the couch a bit worn out from the exchange. If things kept going at this rate he was going to die a young man from stress. He hoped the next one would be just a little bit normal. But even then that might be too much to ask in this place.

Sean

Seeing Amara leave, Sean waited a few more minutes, then knocked on the door. He had a loud knock, the kind that was startling as hell if you weren’t expecting it. Very assertive. He peeked his head in and locked eyes with the doctor, “Shikaru, sir? Mind if I come in? I wanted to have a chat with you.”

James’ was indeed a bit startled by the knock, he was at that moment in deep contemplation so it made him jump a bit as he looked to the door. Sean poking his head in and asking to be let in for a chat. James nodded and gestured to the seat across from himself.

“By all means Sean take a seat, and tell me what it is that you’d like to talk about?” The doctor asked, leaning back in the chair he was sitting in letting his face relax and calm himself from his previous conversations.

Sean nodded and sat, one leg crossed over the other, hands politely in his lap, back straight. He wasn’t the slightest bit uncomfortable or at least didn’t show it. He had an air about him that tried to control a room. He offered the doctor a small smile, “Well, I think that I’ve caused a small bit of concern amongst the faculty. I want to quell any of that before it gets any worse.”

“I’m not sure if you know off the top of your head, so I’ll explain a bit,” he continued, “My quirk has to do with death. I kill someone or something with a quirk, and I gain something related to it. My father took me on hunting trips when I was younger, to find animals to hunt that had quirks - quite a rare thing, but very useful. And then, listed on my history, should be that I had the unfortunate experience of killing two villains. Self-defense. Kill or be killed type of situation.”

“Because of that, I feel there is some worry that I might become power-hungry. That my quirk could take me down a fast track of crime if I’m not careful. Being proactive, I’ve sought you out. Better to calm worries early on.”

James listened to the boy’s explanation, and it was very responsible of Sean to take initiative to come and speak to him about this. A quirk like this could cause a bit of discourse and concern. Even a mention of a quirk with the kill classification makes it a big concern. However the responsibility for someone his age, was a bit troubling in his own opinion. “Well, I thank you for bringing this to my attention. I can see how you believed this to be an issue and you were wise to come here about it.”

“It’s true a quirk like yours is rare, quirks with your classification are rare and few between. Most people never find out about their quirks if they have it due to the difficulty of using them. Also finding animals with quirks is harder than some people believe. I’m impressed that you were able to find one let alone how many you’ve had to have hunted to have your quirk be as strong as it is.” The doctor kept his normal posture as he spoke to the boy. “From what I can determine you seem to be a good kid, so all you’d need to do is loosen up a little. I have faith that you’ll make friends if you do. Your past isn’t important, nor are who your parents are. It’s your own choices that define your destiny, and your own power that carves your future. Your choices will be the best guide for your life. No one else should be in control of that.”

Sean took a pause, genuinely surprised at the care the doctor took, “Hah… You know, you’re a very caring person. I’m amazed. Truthfully no one has really taken such care concerning me and my quirk. I’m not accustomed to that.”

He laughed, visibly relaxing into the chair, “I found out about it when on a trip with my father to Africa. He’s not noted on my transfer information, and neither is my mother. My mother is dead, and my father is a rather paranoid, eccentric sort. I’m not even sure if he’s in the country. He’s a strong believer that one should know how to use weapons, so we went on a long hunt. I ended up taking the kill shot on a Dorcas Gazelle. They had the quirk “Bolt”. A speed quirk.”

“I’ll admit, though. I’m not too interested in making many friends. It’s not a big worry of mine. People will only get in the way if they’re not beneficial to your education.”

James hummed as he thought about the words of the young boy. "Maybe, having friends does take time and effort. However, don't you think that it's a little sad? Not making bonds in school will make your life harder, I can promise you of that. Friends are people that you can rely on. I didn't have many friends. All I really had was my sister, and I struggled my way through school all on my own. Eventually there will come a time when you need someone's help. Don't you think it would be better to ask a friend rather than beg a stranger?"

“I guess so, yes,” Sean said, considering it, “I feel more connected to the teachers, though, truth be told. Some of the students - Emrik for one - lack maturity. Not to mention, a lot of them are loud, too eager, obnoxious, or whathaveyou. Take yourself, for instance. You’re very intelligent and have a lot of wisdom to impart. I’d much rather make friends with you.”

"I can see how you'd come to that conclusion," James responded after taking in his reply. "It's natural and an analysis that is logical. Though, it is flawed. Sean, you're not wrong in seeking friends that are smart or wise. Picking those with prior experience prevents growing together. Making mistakes… pity the wise for they have suffered due to ignorance, gained experience due to failure. Even though I and your teachers are indeed wise and smart, the wisdom we hold is from our experience. Even if we warn you and tell you the wisdom, you won't have the experience that's needed to fully understand." James gave pause before continuing, "The experience that you need is growing together with your classmates. Training, learning, and getting strong together with your friends and classmates… will cause you to grow wise in your own respect. So, how about I give you a little homework, a bit of extra credit. Make a friend that's your age in class. Hang out together, if you don't feel like you've learned anything after a month and can prove that you haven't I'll let you skip out on sessions here for the rest of the year. However, if I'm right, you should report when you learn something new to me. Sound fair?"

Sean laughed at James’s response, “I hardly think that there’s nothing to gain from them at all. You misunderstand. So, that wager you offered would be completely moot. That said, you make it sound as though you think there’d be nothing for you to learn from me. We learn something new every day.”

“Now, with most of the teachers I doubt I could do much in a fight, but… I dare say I’m quite capable of holding my own. I didn’t pursue an easier target because I didn’t want to,” Sean explained, then paused, considering how much he wanted to say. Of all people, even if he was a bit suspicious, this doctor would probably be safest to talk to thanks to confidentiality in place. He tilted his head a little, considering it, “Mm… Given you’re a professional, I’ll open up to you a little if you promise not to say a word about it. Deal?”

James clicked his tongue, this kid was quite different from the rest. He was far and above what the good doctor would consider normal for his age group. This was interesting, but now he was offering his own deal.

Sitting back in his seat James thought about it. "Well as my confidentiality is required as a medical professional, unless what you say poses harm to your mental state or promotes self harm I cannot say a word by law. My hands are legally tied. You can say whatever you want to me. I must give my unbiased opinion. So deal, by all means speak your mind."

He smiled at his answer, adjusting his legs, one over the other, “Or suggests immediate harm to another. Lots of stipulations, but generally a very private profession.”

Sean sighed, looking up at the ceiling at nothing in particular for a moment, then back down to meet James’s eyes, “Well, to be honest I didn’t want to try going all out with that 'Capture the Teachers' thing. I fought Gao, the old man, Mr. Fist. I don’t want to bring too much attention to myself, generally speaking. Having a ton of attention isn’t my favorite thing in the world, and it’s not like it would help my goals. I don’t want to be famous.”

“I have a lot of training. A… A lot of training. So I just kind of gave up when my rib got broken, not because I couldn’t fight, but because continuing might be seen as odd. I already did well enough against a combat hero like Fist that I got his attention,” he rambled, “Mm… Well… I’m not sure what to say. Sorry I’m going on and on. I don’t want to come off like I’m being full of myself and just saying that I’m super powerful or something like that. I just… I know I could handle a low-tier hero… or villain as I am now.” That was a small slip up, but not untrue all the same.

James nodded as he listened to Sean. It was plausible, and generally speaking true what he said. James looked over the footage from Saturday, on Sunday to assist with grading. He was impressed by Sean's showing, he practically blindsided Fist, and came out of nowhere. That's a skill normal kids his age wouldn't have, at least not unless they were heavily trained by their parents, or had the money to hire instructors.

"Well, being a hero, or even being in U.A. is something that will draw attention. Your bout with Mr. Fist was indeed impressive for someone your age. As a teacher I'm excited to see all the good you could do or the people you could save with abilities like yours." James took his turn looking up at the ceiling and pulling a sucker from the bag that was on the table. He twirled it in his hand effortlessly before tossing it up and catching it in his mouth minus the wrapper.

"Sean, I have a lot of thoughts… running through my head. Answers and solutions, problems and conundrum a plenty. Just like you, I don't desire attention. It's my abilities that people are interested in. What I'm capable of doing with my power. It is a burden being strong, or gifted. Knowing how to handle that burden isn't easy. Knowing you can fight, even when in pain or injured. Knowing you're skilled, skilled enough to even kill in self-defense. That is… a difficult thing. Some heroes or even just normal people with powerful quirks have this issue. They don't want to become a hero or develop their strengths because it will one day be used to hurt another, or even that they deep down inside don't want the ability to kill." James' face darkened at that statement. It was full of an undistinguished emotion or even fusion of them. "Discovering that your ability has the power to kill even if you didn't expect it, or you knew it did but you couldn't judge your strength well enough. Both are hard feelings to come to terms with. Some aren't strong enough to do it, and see people like me to help them or just don't use their quirks. I've even spoken to criminals, questioning them, and even psychologically analyzing them. The one thing they had in common was that their fear of their power changed who they were. Either they continued to fear it and they broke under the pressure, or they embraced their fear in a horrid way and wanted others to feel the fear that they feel. So not trying a hundred percent now… isn't the end all be all. I'm sure that even with all your training you have restraints, and your own rules. This place is a place you can not only grow stronger, but a place where you can build upon your character. I encourage you to think hard on that."

“Mm…,” he muttered, not sure what to say, “Well… hmm… I know I have the power to kill. Hell, my quirk depends on death. It sounds bad, but loss of life doesn’t bother me. Even the two people I did kill… it didn’t haunt me. Not much. I need to be strong if I want to change the world. That’s my general end goal. Not something as simple as being a hero. I want to change the world. First step as far as I see it is getting a license so I can do so legally.”

“I don’t know how much to hold back or to let others see, however. My father is an eccentric person and I don’t really want to garner attention that would be pointed towards him, regardless of what his training and my home life was like. So, for instance I believe I could take you on. Even if you were actually trying. You’re not a combat hero. But I should be more on the level of the other kids. I’m very torn.”

James chuckled at Sean's statement and shook his head. "Confidence is a good thing to have, but saying you can take down someone like me at your age is a bit funny to me. I'm not sure if I'm laughing out of ignorance or that I don't believe it but I do know in terms of strength you would likely win… but my boy, if any of us were trying to take you down in that little game. You would have got much, much more than a broken rib… but to your belief that you could take me down, I don't doubt that you could keep up… but saying you can before you know your opponent's hand… is a loss waiting to happen. Much like you, my strength is unassuming. I might look simple or easy but I'm far from it. I wouldn't be here if I couldn't handle the responsibilities required." The doctor sighed a bit standing up and walking over to the window looking out of it for a moment before turning and leaning against it.

"Changing the world is a lofty goal, and if your father was trying to prepare you to chase that… then he may need to re-evaluate some things… because you won't be able to do it alone. No one has that strength. Changing the world can be an achievable goal provided you have friends. People you trust and that trust you. How do you think All Might did it for as long as he did? He made a huge impact on his own but he wasn't alone. You'll need to understand that no goal that big is possible without that key thing. I'm sure that I've given you much to think about this session. If you would like to talk some more, we can do so some other time. Until then, do your best."

“I said I believe I could. Not that I can. There’s a difference there, good doctor. The devil’s in the details,” he teased, smiling, “I don’t think you’ve given me much to think of, though. It’s all stuff I already knew. The biggest thing is just that you care. I greatly appreciate that. As for whether or not you or I would win, I think it’d be fun to have a playful spar sometime. I only got broken ribs because I was so unsure about trying hard. You, with your ability, I think it’d be a lot of fun to spar. Even just for exercise, since we wouldn’t have to worry about harming each other. You could heal wounds. Not fatigue though, I suppose. That’s alright though.”

“Ah but I’m being rude. I keep thinking only of fighting. You’re my teacher, doctor, whatever… but I was being genuine in wanting to be a friend. Would you like to go out to eat sometime? My treat.”

James smiled, "I look forward to it. Now get out there. Don't spend too much time talking to me. Otherwise you might end up dealing with much more than you realize." He winked and looked back out the window watching the wind rustle the trees.

Natasha

The last of the chaos beasts was an energetic one. She came much later in the day than the three before. When she did, however, she seemed to forget to knock. Instead, Natasha just came right into his office and plopped down on the couch. She didn’t even make any noise to signify her arrival, didn’t say anything, just sat down and waited.

James was looking out the window and had heard the door open but didn't even move, he just hummed, staring at the scenery for a bit longer before speaking up. "Welcome to you, hmmmmm… nope that doesn't feel right… How about, hello there? That would probably be best… no… maybe not." He spun around and gave Natasha a smile. "Ah, good afternoon Natasha. It's good to see you up and about after that nasty bop to the head you took during our assignment on Saturday." He moves to his desk chair and takes a seat before continuing to speak. "So, what brings you to see me on this fine day? Is there something that you think I can help you with?"

“Oh! Yeah, I didn’t really think to expect flying concrete slabs… That just felt kinda out there, ya know?” Natasha said, shrugging, “Hi by the way. I dunno why I decided to come. Kinda because other people did? I guess? It seemed like a good idea. Especially since I got knocked out. I heard that one bratty kid actually healed me. Why didn’t you? I mean, I’m not angry or anything. Just curious.”

"Well, I didn't heal you because your injury wasn't too serious for one. The second reason is more of a legality." James pulled the sucker stick out of his mouth and placed it in the trash next to him.

"You being conscious was a necessity. I have to have your permission to touch you. As you know… my Quirk only works if I can touch the hurt area. I was unable to tell if you were injured in any other places thus I wouldn't be able to complete my job of healing you properly. Emrik and his Quirk are different in that aspect. His Quirk can heal even if he doesn't know what's hurting. I do hope that you'll forgive me for not doing anything." James said, sighing a bit. It wasn't like he didn't want to, he just couldn't.

“Ooooh, fair enough I guess. Yours is more specific than his, then. Neat,” she mused, shrugging, “I don’t really care either way. There’s nothing to forgive.”

“So uh… how’s this work, anyway? Aside from quirk counseling I’ve never done something like therapy or counseling or whatever.”

"Well to be honest therapy like this is more up to personal preference. I'm more or less just someone you can talk to about anything really. Even if you have no real pressing issues or you're just nervous about a test. Having some difficulty making friends… homesickness, the list is infinite. Most people think the job of a psychologist or a therapist is to fix emotionally broken people or assist with problems. It isn't true. It's only half the answer. Just having someone to talk to is enough, the world is full of stress, nervousness, fear, happiness, mischief, and the list goes on. You can share everything, or nothing at all. A small amount or a large sum." James smiled, making a few gestures to signify what he was saying. "You may think of me as a stuffed animal in a sense, you can speak to and won't share a word unless you say it's okay."

“Ahhh… well…,” she rubbed her head, trying to think of anything, “Well… I mean the only thing really bugging me is the same thing that always bugs me. My stupid quirk being a pain in the ass.”

Natasha laughed lightheartedly, smiling at the doc, “It’s the sort of quirk that’s soooo hard to do anything with since it’s random. I’m basically a walking gatcha machine or slot machine. It can really get me down sometimes.”

"I see… so your Quirk gives you troubles?" James hummed thinking for a moment, popping a new sucker in his mouth. "You know, a Quirk like yours is very rare. To have the ability or capability to switch quirks even if it is random makes you much more powerful than you realize. It gives you the element of surprise, and once you harness that you will be a top-tier hero in no time. No matter what power you receive, you will know but your opponent won't. Capitalization is the key. I recommend speaking to IQ about training with each of your abilities separately. If necessary when you receive a power you can come to me and I can help you brainstorm how to use it. Your Quirk isn't something to spite, it's something to have fun with. Be creative, and play around with it a bit… who knows… one day you might find a way to rig the outcome, or even change mid-fight."

Natasha grumbled, speaking softly, “I mean technically I can switch it more often… but it’s really really exhausting to do so more than once per day. I can’t just train that willy nilly. I still need to be awake enough to go to class and study and workout and stuff. Even if it gives me the element of surprise, it’s a surprise to me, too. I just get a basic idea of what the quirk is when I draw it. I guess I do have a nice well-rounded sort of skill set because of it, but…”

She groaned dramatically and loudly, flopping backward, “I feel like I’m playing on hard-mode right now.”

James laughed a bit, "You know you sound a lot like me when I was learning how to use my Quirk. It took a long time for me to get used to the backlash from my Quirk as well but then again I had a bit of a head start. Don't worry too much though, us teachers won't work you so hard that you'll be suffering. We are here to promote your growth, make sure you turn out ready for anything. It took me till I was about sixteen when my body was strong enough to handle the backlash. My backlash was coughing up blood, and it still happens on rare occasions but so long as I'm eating right and making sure to stay in shape the recoil isn't too bad, just a small sting or twinge of pain here or there… but while I was going through school oh boy was it tough on me. I didn't attend U.A. But the courses I took were rigorous and it felt like I was playing on hardcore-mode all the time I was there. At least until I was half way through my second semester. All that hardcore mode made me strong. I'm sure that you'll do even better than me."

“Hah, I sure hope so,” she smiled, “I know I just need to get better at it. I’m sure I’ll have more than a few opportunities to do so while I’m here.”

“Got any other words of wisdom for me, Doc? I’m really not great at keeping this conversation going… hmm… Oh! I know. So, Doc. Why’d you want to be a hero?”

"Me? Hmmm… that's a good question." James hadn't thought about that in a long time. He leaned forward resting his arms on his thighs. "When I was five… I was put in the hospital. I was really sick. So sick that I was there till I was eight. It took a long time for anyone to figure out what was making me sick. Turns out that it was my Quirk becoming acclimatized to my body. I didn't know that until I was twelve." James took a bit to continue speaking, his jaw moving side to side as if mulling over his words and thoughts. "I… I spent a lot of time in a hospital bed, watching the news. Seeing heroes save people, but I always thought… Why were they more important than the heroes here in the hospital? The people saving more lives and healing people than any of those heroes I saw on TV. So I promised myself that once I got better I'd become one of those heroes on TV, that way I could bring more attention to hospitals. Remind people that there are heroes that don't need to wear a mask. That's why I don't. I don't want people to be infatuated with some identity that I created to be a hero and associate me with a mask or a fancy costume. I wear a doctor's coat and badge with my name on it. Albeit that coat is filled with knives, and candy. I'm still a doctor first."

“That’s so awesome!” Natasha chirped, really eager for his story, “I think doctors have a way harder time than normal heroes. I love that. I have a mask for my costume because I don’t know if I want to show my face. I’m not really sure about my outfit in general though. I’m not sold on it 100%, you know?”

She leaned back, “Mmm… I’ve been in the hospital a few times from my quirk too, when I was little. My quirk popped up really really early. I was a little baby for my first roulette. Not knowing the intricacies of a quirk can be really dangerous. Luckily I’ve gotten better at sort of… getting a feeling for a quirk before I use it. Like I said I know what the quirk I rolled is, but my intuition about it has gotten better over the years. I’m still not great though. The other day I got IQ’s quirk. That has one hell of a backlash! I thought my head was gonna implode from the headache!”

"I assume that would be something that can be hard on your noggin if you are not already used to it." James said, leaning back in his seat. "I couldn't begin to imagine what that's like. I remember being asked by one of my patients if I was really qualified to handle this job. Given all the quirk variables and variation. How all the impacts would be different on different people. How would I be able to treat them with all that in the way? At first I didn't have an answer, but by the end of the session I did. People are people. No matter how their own abilities or the abilities of others change their lives. They will continue to be people. People and more importantly humans… are the most adaptable species in the world. Given time, we can survive and even thrive in any environment. Think of your Quirk like that, it is a tool for your growth and survival. Evolve and adapt and you will be unstoppable one day because you have so much potential inside that you have the capacity to surpass everyone."

Natasha smiled wide, “You are way too sweet to be a doctor. You got a heart made of gummy bears in there or something?” She laughed a little at her own joke, “Thanks for that, I guess. I appreciate the vote of confidence. Any ideas on how I could work towards being able to use the roulette more often? Since like I said it makes me so tired when I use it more than once a day.”

“A heart made of gummy bears eh? Hmmm… I suppose that would be a good comparison. You see Natasha, there isn’t really a good or evil, there is no true definition. It’s all subject to the views of society or mass opinion. Something that was seen as a good thing in the past or right this moment may be considered evil in the future. While something evil may indeed be a correct action and be deemed as good. The world is full of inconsistencies like this. So instead of toil about making the correct decision by society’s view making the one truest to your views is the only answer and path you should ever seek.” James said with a bit of a defeated tone. “Staying true to your heart now a days is the most difficult thing you could ever do, because it may lead you down a road you never expected. You may one day be traveling on the road you deem is just and correct, then society will tell you that isn’t right, or it isn’t just. Those that surrender the path and conformed to the society’s will will be lying to yourself. So did you make a good decision? Maybe, but it brings the question should you be evil to yourself and deny what you think is right just to be seen as good in the moment or should you be true to yourself and be evil to society to stick to your belief?”

James shakes his head, “I don’t expect you to be able to answer such philosophy. It’s more of a problem I myself have yet to solve. No matter what choices you make, you will be a Hero to some while a Villain to others. No matter what side you choose it’s all a matter of societal perspective. It makes it difficult for me to help kids like you all to become heroes, because I know what you all will face when you become like us. All the pressure, all the darkness you’ll have to wade through to find your justice and truth. It’s a journey that you all must take to become adults and discover the path that’s truly for you. It will take all the hard work and dedication till the day you finally look back and see how far you’ve come. I can only hope that you look back and remember me as a good person. That’s my justice, and my hope. That all who have spoken to me or have been treated by me will see me that way. A man who ripped them from the jaws of darkness, with words not violence.”

“As for your quirk becoming stronger,” James said clearly trying to advert back to her question as not to overwhelm the girl. “Maybe take some time on Saturday nights, and Sunday’s to roulette or spin your quirk. The less tired you become from the spin the better,” He said before humming in thought on that answer he gave. “Maybe even try thinking hard about what quirk you want. I’m sure you’re aware of the quirks you have the possibility of having, maybe see if you could replace some of the quirks with other ones, or maybe even see if focusing really hard on the one you want will tip the outcome? I’m sorry I can’t be much help when it comes to that. Growing and adapting a quirk isn’t really my strong suit. Maybe you could ask IQ or maybe even Gao? It may have something to do with your physical strength that you can’t handle the smack to your stamina? Either way I’m sure you’ll figure out something that works.”

Natasha kinda tuned out his grand philosophical musings, not sure what the heck he was going on about. It wasn’t really her forte. She wanted to be good because good was good. None of that weird stuff about what if your good is someone else’s evil or whatever. You just asked your heart if it was good! Not that hard…

She shrugged as an answer since what he said had gone in one ear and out the other, “I guess I can try spinning it more often. I already try doing that anyway… but I guess I’m not consistent about it. And no, not really. I don’t know all the quirks I can roll. I think it adds more as I get older. I think Mister Gao would kill me with whatever monstrous exercise routine he has going on… He’s like… what? 70? And he looks like he could lift a mac-truck! I’d be mac-done.”

“Sorry I’m so awkward. Like I said I dunno what to say… There’s no step-by-step guide for this. Did you wanna ask me stuff?”

James clicked his tongue, her concerns about Gao's training is definitely something to take note of. The old man was something of an anomaly. He's a bit eccentric as well. "Maybe just ask Kenetica and IQ, they may be a better bet. Both of them should be absomethingle to set up to push you."

He looked down at the table, "Questions, hm? No, I don't have any. Typically I don't ask too many of those in the first session. There are a few exceptions to this rule of mine but for now…. I have none. Just keep in mind that I’m here should you ever have the desire to speak to someone.”

“Alright… well…. Thanks, I suppose. I appreciate it, even if it is just your job.”

After yesterday's events, Alirah basically went straight to her room and went to sleep without eating anything. She woke up rather late too, having skipped most of her core courses besides science. She hadn’t seen Charles at all until science class but they were sitting on opposite sides of the room as she had gotten to class late. As Alirah was thinking about that, she overheard some students saying that there was a class at ‘Ground Omega’ after this. Oh? Do I get to show off today?! That knowledge made her perk up almost immediately. She not only would be able to train her powers further, but also meet some of the other students that she hadn’t seen yet. Her excitement made her exit the class as soon as it ended. She darted down the hall and ran all the way to the dorms. Alirah threw her hero costume upon herself, grabbed her backpack full of gadgets, and went over to ground gamma to await the teacher’s directions.

Rescue mission? Ohh. I’ll be good at that. Alirah was listening to IQ-sensei very intently and watched him slide the box of ear pieces forward. She hopped forward and bent over to grab an ear piece out of the box then fastened it onto her right ear. Alirah stood back up to see that some groups were already forming. She didn’t see anyone she knew from where she was located. Ah… should I also get into a team…?

In a Haze of Glass, Liquid, and Darkness....

Haruto could see only darkness, as if the void has swallowed him whole. He felt like he was floating, as if there was no gravity, as if the whole planet was gone. He floated there in the void without a clue to what was happening, it felt like he was in the darkest pit in the whole ocean. It was difficult to move like he was in sludge, and he felt great resistance as he tried moving around. Then he found the end of the void, a smooth wall that was perfect in everyway. It didn't feel like a wall though, more like a barrier or an egg? Is this what glass feels like? Wait why does this feel like the first time he's touched glass? Why is he so calm about this situation? No it's less calm and more... nothing. He feels nothing about all this, almost as if he's a husk.... This scared Haruto, his mind was racing to this feeling of nothing. He tried moving around yet his body did nothing.

Then he heard the voice and the words that were spoken. "Era oyu wakae mKou?" The words hung there, indecipherable and unknown to Haruto. He didn't understand what the voice said, but then his body reacted. His mouth began to open and close as if it was trying to reply. No sounds escaped into the dark liquid and the body squirmed around until the voice returned. "You're not ready Yet" These words shook Haruto to the core.

Haruto woke up in a cold sweat, the light from his window invading his webbed up room as he laid there on his hammock. What was that dream just now? Could you even call it a dream? Yet it felt entirely real, and who was that voice? Why did he understand the last thing it said but not the first? It sounded as he was telling Haruto to be patient? But why? It doesn't make sense... what time is it? Oh shoot he practically overslept! He's gonna be late if he doesn't hurry! Haruto rushed to get dressed and ready for school and was out the door the fastest he's ever been almost as if he hadn't skittered around in decades.

Haruto was too spaced out for most of the day, still thinking about his dream. He got called out several times by the teachers and felt extremely embarrassed because of it. Maybe he should tell someone about it... But wait what if they think he's some Psycho or something? Nononononono definitely not gonna tell anyone. They probably wouldn't give him the answers he needs anyways. Oh it's time for the hero courses, hopefully he'll be too busy to think now. Oh he almost put it on backwards.... this is so embarrassing...

When he arrived at Gamma, IQ explained that today was a rescue lesson and that there were several people who needed rescuing after being attacked by villains. This was literally the best lesson for Haruto due to his broad skillset. He knows the how to treat first aid with his webs, he can use the trees to his advantage, plus he has a near 360 degrees of vision. Haruto grabbed one if the earpieces offered in the metal box by IQ and waited around nervously. Donny suggested everyone make teams and Haruto liked the idea but before he could even turn to look at everyone the air around his grew quite cold!

Haruto noticed immediately when Ryota moved in his direction, even though he was walking practically behind Haruto. He made a small wave when he approached and Haruto turned around and waved back, gotta love wide vision. He explained they should team up, and Haruto nodded. Ryota could fill some very important roles as the muscle with his specialty with cold. Eliza also walked up as well and placed a hand on his shoulder asking to join. Haruto turned his head and nodded as she explained she trained here the other day and knows the landmarks. That could be very useful.

"I think we can do a lot with the 3 of us."

Eliza's appearance was a bitter tune. Had he not made it clear he did not like her; were all foreign girls so blatantly unassuming? Ryota did little to hold back his sigh, but he did not do anything else to object. There was the old adage, "it is better to keep your friends close, and your enemies closers," after all. Eliza and himself may both be aspiring heroes, but there was undoubtedly her ability to overshadow him. She may not have realized it yet, but Ryota knew the two would be fiercely battling over internships and sponsors. Her quirk was was more flexible, and more utilitarian--the mere thought made the ice pack steam. Yet, he gulped his pride and nodded to Eliza's words.

"Got it." Ryota said plainly. Her advice, none the less, was useful. He was not familiar with this arena yet and water would be a keen environment for them.

Raising his palm forward, he removed the protective armor he wore around his right forearm, revealing an ice blue hand. The air temperature would noticeably drop to a chilling level. Through his helmet, similarly steely eyes would make way to Haruto. "Let me demonstrate the idea I had in mind, Haruto could I have some of your web?" Ryota asked, urging with his fingers.

DARK MATTER

liks82d.png

It looked like Donny's attempt to get a party together worked! First was Bryn, who was pretty handy when they fought the robots. Donny wasn't sure if there was going to be many machines here, but he was certain that the campsite might have some cars or something. Donny has no idea the extent of what Bryn can make, but if nothing else if they could get a off-road vehicle that could help immensely getting around the forest, as well as transporting any survivors. "G-G-Great! Glad to have you on board, B-B-B-Miles-san!"

Then there was Clair, who surprised him by hugging him from behind. It was a good thing Donny made sure to have a full skeleton today, so instead of sinking into his body Clair would just feel regular flesh and bone. Still it got a yelp from Donny. "W-Whoa! O'Reilly-san, um um um um, thanks?" Donny wasn't really sure what to make of Clair. He wasn't entirely certain what her quirk was, since as far as he could tell it's not an emitter type or a mutation type. That being said he has heard that she was able to hold her own pretty well against the teachers during the last big exam, so whatever she could do she was capable. Donny would have to figure out what sort of thing she'd be best suited for until she explains what her quirk does for Donny.

Asuka chimed in talking to Akemi. Their names were very similar so for a moment, Donny nearly got the two confused. While Asuka's ability was obvious, Donny was still trying to figure out what exactly Akemi's quirk does. He knows it's based off vision, and she can see through other people's eyes. He's not too certain if that's how if functions but regardless both were very useful super powers, especially since they're all going to be given communicators. With Akemi, they will now have both eyes and ears at all times. Or something like that? Either way Donny welcomed them both to the team. "I think what Tajima-san m-m-m-means is that, their quirk can um, pick up any vision that's not us? So like... It's a radar you know? I don't know how f-f-f-far Tajima-san's quirk works but, we can figure something out."

As Donny was trying to wiggling out from Clair's hug, a familiar form came by and put them in a bigger hug. It was Gary! Donny hasn't seen him in what felt like a long while. After getting squeezed, Donny slipped out from Clair's grasp and grabbed some headsets for everyone. "That's g-g-g-great, Gary! Okay so um, I think this is a good enough team, me thinks. Okay, let's see..." Now it was time for Donny to put his leadership abilities to the real test: figure out what to do with everyone. He had a vague idea of their quirks and abilities, and knows that the objective is to rescue and secure the various civilians around the area. The villains were on the loose too, so it's important to keep the fighting potential balanced. Donny knew he needed to split his current group into two: one to search the forest for any run away civilians, and another to secure a location where they can take the civilians for medical treatment and extraction. It'll also have to be somewhere defensible against any potential villain. The only place Donny could think of was the campground itself: they don't have the time or manpower to make a fort out of wood, so they're better of taking over the campgrounds instead. Donny doubts that the woodland mansion of the Villain Bots was still here, though he hopes the general layout of the area was still the same. That ought to help, especially for those who came with Donny yesterday for training.

It was time for Donny to announce the plan. To build up confidence, he takes out a cold soda from his pocket. He finds that he's much calmer when he has something to drink, as it keeps his hands from being restless. Popping the tab to not only get a drink but also everyone's attention, Donny tells them the plan. "We split into t-t-t-t-two groups, Red Team and Gold Team. Red Team is s-s-search-and-rescue, your jobs is to go around the woods, look for survivors. Find them, and b-b-b-bring them to the Gold Team. Gold Team, we're going to the camp ground and se-se-se-secure it! It's p-probably the only uh, central location here, so we can like, fix it up and stuff, to treat wounded people and protect them from v-v-v-villains. I'm going to be with the G-G-Gold Team. Also, we, we'll be going... By our Hero names. Mines is Dark Matter." That was the basics, however Donny had more specific plans for each individual member. Taking a sip from his soda, Donny let out a satisfied breath. That was really calming his nerves.

First was Bryn. "Miles-san, you're with Gold Team. Head to the camp grounds, there's probably cars, trailers, and other tech there you can use. If possible, make an all-terrain vehicle that can help move people if they're injured. Once we secure the camp, you may join the Red Team in looking for survivors." Donny hoped that there was something there for Bryn to use. Otherwise the best Donny could provide was his cellphone, unless they get real lucky and there happens to be an abandoned mech or robot suit in the forest. Next was Donny's buddy, Gary. "Gary's also with the Gold Team. Anything Miles-San can't use, you need to move it so we can use it to protect the civilians. Build some fortifications so if any villains come, they don't have a clear shot at us or the civilians. Keep that nose sharp too: if you smell something coming that isn't our friends, it might be dangerous." And for the final member of the Gold Team, Akemi. "Takima-san, you're going to have a very important role in the Gold Team. I need you to use your quirk on the Red Team so you can keep an eye on them, keep us in the loop with what they find so we can be ready to handle any civilians they bring. And if villains find us, you need to use your quirk to make sure they don't find you or the civilians while the rest of the Gold Team takes on the bad guys. Protecting the civilians is our number one priority, and no one is better at keeping them safe than you."

Taking a sip Donny looked to first member of the Red Team, Clair. "O'Reilly-san, you're with the Red Team. You're pretty fast and you're a quick thinker, so if anything random happens, I'm trusting you to go with your gut and save the day. As long as you do your best, I don't mind if it's not perfect." Another sip, and Donny was really feeling hyped up. Or maybe it was just a sugar rush. Donny looked over to Asuka. She was here yesterday, and while Donny doesn't doubt that much of the location has changed, Asuka likely would have the best memory as well as the best view of the area. "Asuka-San, you know this area better than me, perhaps better than any of us. I'm sure a lot has changed since yesterday's training but you still are best suited to fly above and spot anything out of the ordinary. Find survivors and bring them back to the camp as soon as possible. If you find any villains, don't fight them unless they're threatening civilians. We must save the innocent first before we start fighting. Work with O'Reilly-san to bring people back."

Finishing his soda, Donny looked to the group. He was feeling really hyped up now, even though this was just training. He was pretty sure his plan was solid: specific enough for everyone to have something to do, but flexible enough to account for random things happening. Putting on his headset, Donny turned it on to make sure it was working. "I'll do a uh... What's it called... Call-in? Rolecall? S-S-S-Something like that. I'll do that once we go in! Remember, we'll be using our hero names. That'll make it clear who we-we-we-we're talking about and inspire the civilians when they know h-h-h-heroes have come to rescue them!"

Not feeling a hero

"Niiiiiiiiice~ I think we can-" - Akira stopped mid-sentence, eyes wide as plates and a hand that once moved in for a handshake left grasping at empty air in defeat. He tilted his head almost out of reflex the moment he noticed how - Retracted? - the girl was, his mouth agape in a trembling smile that had this mix of awkwardness and confusion - "Eh... F-Fuyumi-san? 'You feel sick or something?" - That is when it hit him. This girl wasn't on her own as a cause of mere circumstance, she was far away from the group because she wanted to be alone. And there he was being a pushover - "I mean, y-yeah...It'd be great to have you as a team. Pleasure to make your acquaintance." - Both hands went to the straps hanging the guitar case on his shoulder. As if mirroring Odessa, Akira's eyes drifted somewhere else, somewhere they could avoid the girl's stare. Embarassment and all those lovely emotions writ like a billboard on his gaze.

For a second he wondered if this is what that guy Donny felt like every millisecond of his existence. If so, he pitied him.

"I should rename myself 'Letdown, the hero that never gets anything right'." - Akira sulked deep inside. On the verge of tears, indeed. Could be one hell of a seller on the next weekly jump, that type of hero, for sure- but he quickly dropped the case.

He might've broken into her personal space, and yes, he might've killed the girl's peace and quiet, but maybe he could make it up by not being a bother - "Ah! You said something about being a late arrival, right? I'm a new face too, actually. I dropped in along with another one, this cat girl that lost her necklace-bracelet thingy, I think. Eeh, now that I think about it they were probably just filling in some empty spots with me, I came in waay too late." - He chuckled - "On that note, that technically makes me the most kouhai out of all the kouhai around here. Everyone's my senior."

He had a sharp pause, scratching the back of his head and letting out a huff - "Ramblings aside, though, I've mapped out most of this forest yesterday while I was here with some other peeps, so that should give us a slight advantange." - Akira explained, gesturing with his hands a little too much. He was using an ancient technique passed down from generation to generation. First came the senseless small talk to soften the blow, then the actual topic of discussion. Works wonders on strangers - "Well, not exactly a perfect map, but I know I can get a couple of hotspots down. The ones where you'd drop a handful of method actors and fake villains." - His arms folded as he scanned the forest, trying to make a mind's-eye path of where he could go, anything that looked familiar. Needless to say he wasn't in that level of focus right now, all he got out of it was a vague sense of direction. If luck was on his side, hopefully he wouldn't have to bring his Phantom out for it - "Sooo, maybe we should start looking for those...? Adding more members to this here dream team would do us wonders too. I can lead the way when you're ready." - He gave a slight nod and a smile that signaled he was ready for roll call, a thumbs up peeking from the inside of his folded arms.

"Or whenever I.Q Sensei feels the need to let this test begin." - And so, Akira stood there waiting for awhile. Spaced out. Doing those things people do when they stand there waiting for awhile. He went from cracking his knuckles, individually and hand by hand, to absentmindedly tracing half-circles with the back of his all-to-formal oxfords, - not to get too much dirt where it would be noticeable - ending in his head bobbing slightly to a simple melody on his mind - "This is going to go badly, isn't it...?" - He deflated. There was too much on his mind right now, too much for his half-asleep brain to handle, and enough for him to start feeling bad. Near crying bad. Not a good mood to have when he'd been tired, yet pretending not to since this very morning - "It's going to go horribly." - He frowned. Lucky him, at least there was no possible way it could go terribly.

Akira had a bad omen about all of this. Physical effort wasn't one of his fortes. He didn't have the strength in him to pop open a can of soda sometimes, let alone to carry an 'injured' person through an entire forest. The two-man team situation he was in was another factor - "We're done for." - It was in times like these that he felt a pang of pure regret wash over him for leading a sedentary lifestyle thus far - "You dumbass....!" - 'Rock, dude.', he would normally say to the idea of doing anything proactive with his free time. If only he'd lifted a single weight before deciding to be a 'hero'...Whatever the hell that word meant for him.

It didn't matter anymore, there was no time to reflect upon his choices; he was about to be a zero real soon.

After scanning the area for a few moments, Alirah still didn’t see anyone she recognized. Hmm…. well if they aren’t gonna show then I’ll just go team with someone else today. New people equals more new friends anyway~

Alirah's eyes stopped on a particular pair of students that seemed to be a bit away from the main group. One of them appeared to be a blonde boy with a guitar case strapped to his back. Alirah examined the silhouette of the boy and wondered what his quirk is to have a musical instrument with him. The other student was a girl with a darkened skin tone and darker hair to match, with an interesting pair of devil looking horns coming from the top sides of her head. It also appeared that Alirah fit right in the middle in comparison to the students’ height range, with the boy being not too much taller than Alirah and the other girl being about 4 centimeters below her height.

After taking a moment to memorize their appearances, Alirah went up to the pair of students. “Excuse me, I hope I’m not interrupting anything but I don’t have a group yet… And before you ask, yes I am new. I got here late Friday afternoon so that’s why you haven’t seen me before.” She paused for a moment to catch her breath as she was talking a bit fast. Alirah wasn’t too sure how long they had until this whole thing started so she wanted to get the formalities away rather quickly. “Anyway, hello. My name is Alirah Hoshino, or rather Hoshino Alirah since we’re in Japan. I was born in Australia but I’m completely Japanese because my parents were born here.” After saying hello, Alirah did a slight bow of her head to the two. She was still getting used to bowing her head instead of handshaking but if she did it enough she’d have no trouble greeting people that way. “How about you two? What are your names?”

Clair O'Reilly - Ádh, Lady Luck - Quirk: Luck of the Irish

Clair seemed to have successfully caught Donny off guard and better yet her over the top actions seemed to work well as an ice breaker between the two and Gary joining in on the act only further expanded that to the group as a whole. With the group now decided on and those within back to their own feet, Donny went on to take the lead. Something Clair quite honestly had no gripes against, leading wasn't her style anyway and when it came to it she often wasn't very good and micromanaging, unless of course said micromanagement had to do with a game. People though and teams? Yeh no, it was better for her to be lead than leading. Besides, what little she had heard from the others, Donny was a whizz kid when it came to formulating plans and strategies so if he had the skills why not let him pay the bills!

As Donny went on to lay out his plan and everyone's role in said plan Clair listened intently. Her eyes darted from person to person as she repeatedly shuffled a deck of cards with only her left hand. Her right held tight to her lower back respectfully. Donny went on to further explain why he chose people for their allocated team within the team. A confusing term that, a team within a team... but well it was no? ANYWAY! As he went on to explain why he chose people for their allocated team within the team Clair was honestly surprised to find how much thought he had put into his plan and on such short notice! He really was a whiz kid! And! And when it came to her own role Donny gave her one she felt was a perfect fit! Did he know about her quirk? Surely he must have! What a guy!

Shifting onto one foot while speeding up her shuffling Clair spoke up just as Donny finished with his headset "We're using our made-up names! Letsss goooo!" Using her free hand to secure her earpiece atop of everything else she was doing Clair continued "Mine is 'Ádh', but if you like you can also call me... badadadadadadada! 'Lady Luck'! I wanted to go with Miss Fortune but apparently, that was a copywriter infringement of some sort! Anyway, regardless. You can count on me to do my part! Also Gary! I heard you can cook up a storm... you seem to have impressed some of the other girls in the dorm. What a lady killer! You're almost as bad as Haruto!"
