Paola Sandino

the theater kid.

limbs bearing the burden of rigorous practice popped with joy under the running, warm water and dainty hands slicked back raven hair. perfection proved possible to strive for and paola paid the price of her goal every week as her body ached under the weight of her physical exertion. yet, a warm shower seemed to bandage it all up, the trickles of water against her skin knitting her muscles back together and giving her another shot of energy. it was a morning ritual that she was thankful for.

୨♡୧

traces of feminity seemed to garb every part of paola from the loose curls left to frame her face to the touch of makeup concealing a tiresome soul, incredibly. the rays of the afternoon sun cast warmth upon her skin that healed every human aspect of herself. it was a perfect day and it was only the beginning.

i seriously can't wait to see you! ♡

heading to the cafe to pick up my check (:

short, almond-shaped acrylics danced across her screen as she texted charlie, and a cheeky smile never seemed to let up even after her phone read 'delivered'. he had been her most desired company over summer break and stepping back on campus without seeing him had been almost emotionally wounding. theater had been the only thing to keep her mind off his absence, and most of the time it did a good job of doing so. but when the day went quiet and she was left to tread back to her cozy dorm room, distraction wasn't so successful.

to hear from him was to ensure a smooth day and the merriment was as obvious on her face as a sore thumb.

greeted by the smell of breads and seasonings alerted the mental arrival of muse universitea; the charming and cozy cafe paola called her third home when she wasn't busy with student life. despite her busy schedule, employment never exhausted her like a leech. instead, she fulfilled sweet, bitter, and savory cravings for five hours while occasionally indulging in the display herself. the cafe was a gem and internally kissing her paycheck was an added bonus.

"paola! i got your check for you," a coworker beamed from behind the register, stopping sandino in her tracks as she waited for them to display her hard days of work.

"seriously, thank you for holding onto it until i got here. i can finally break my $100 in peace," she laughed, stuffing the envelope into her book bag.

"you know i got you," the employee replied as she retreated back to her spot behind the register.

a cheeky grin melted into a much softer smile as paola turned back towards the entryway. another alert from her phone stole her attention briefly, looking down at the lit up screen before she crashed into something solid.

"oh-! shhh- i'm sorry. i really need to watch where i'm going," embarrassment heated her face, sending a rosy blush against her skin as she bent down to pick up her bag and a binder that seemed to meet the ground at the same timing. dusting the light sand off the surface of it, she sighed before handing it back to it's owner.

Sebastian had a lot of reasons to be a smug bastard this afternoon.

There was, of course, the result of the showcase: an excellent hookup with the beautiful Scarlett. What had been a casual interaction over her work had turned into a fun time for them both. Seb wasn’t new to his various partners enjoying their time with him, but even after it was over, she seemed like she would be a repeat customer. He wasn’t normally one for dwelling on his hookups, but considering they were both students here, he was a little proud of himself for making an impression on his first day at Muse.

Then there was his Webtoon series, which was picking back up again. The hiatus over, Seb’s creative juices had never been juicier—okay, that sounded wrong, but—and he was back at it. Matias had sent at least a hundred messages telling him how much he loved the new chapter, so with a grin, he’d posted the latest adventure of his created superheroes.

Lastly, the fact that it was only the first week here, and somehow, he was already making friends. Seb normally wasn’t an attachment guy, which was probably why he steadily collected a list of phone numbers for future booty calls. But something about Muse changed all that, maybe. The people here were more like him than anyone back home had ever been. They understood his creative energy a lot more than anyone else ever had. Well, except for maybe one person. Not that they’d talked in a long while.

Friends. It was a word Seb was familiar with, but he rarely applied it to himself. At Muse, he’d found… friends. What a weird concept. And it wasn’t just the people in his department, either—in fact, he was part of a trio of freshmen. They were all the same age, which probably strengthened their bond a bit, and while they were all different, they got along amazingly well. Despite himself, Seb found himself wanting to hang out with them more, even if he hadn’t been much invested in things like Dungeons & Dragons before. Stella and Jay, though? Even if they didn’t outright beg him to do things with them, he couldn’t deny them a thing. Matias would have called him a sap. Maybe he was.

Then again, anyone who expressed interest in comic books was already a god in Seb’s eyes.

Ah, well. Seb had comics to draw and no caffeine to show for it. He was going to fix that. With his binder and notebooks under his arm, he was heading to Muse UniversiTea (a name which was never going to fail to get the “ha!” chuckle out of him) for his coffee fix. Seb pulled out his phone to shoot off a text to his partners in crime, opening the door to the café as he did.

What are you weirdos up to today? Anything I need to supervise?

Now, texting while walking was not as dangerous as texting and driving by a longshot. But he’d heard the stories about the idiot Pokémon Go players—he knew how fatal it could be. That wasn’t what happened when he was bumped into. His binder, already loose in his grip, fell to the floor, and Seb blinked down as the other party apologized and picked it up for him.

Well, being the man he was, the flirty grin wasn’t far from his face as he gently took his binder back. “Hey, no sweat, I wasn’t looking either—” All flirty words froze in his throat as he realized whose blushing face he was looking at.

Paola Sandino. Oh, fuck.

There was no easy way to explain what had happened between him and Paola. In all fairness, she wasn’t really at fault. Even Seb could admit he was a douchebag a lot of the time. He hadn’t exactly apologized for his words that night, mostly because at the time, he was very stubbornly refusing to relent his slutty ways. Frankly, he still hadn’t done so. At least now he knew he’d been a bit of an asshat to her.

So, yeah, he definitely wasn’t ready to face her at college, of all things.

There were many different ways he could’ve handled this. So many things he could’ve said. He could’ve asked her how she was doing, how’s the family, you look great, you forgot about what happened when we made out back in high school, right?

Instead, he asked none of those things. He ran like hell.

The door had barely closed when he slipped through it, sprinting away from the café as fast as his previously-a-soccer-player legs could carry him. Anyone who saw him running would’ve thought he was training for a marathon, but what he was really doing was running from a god-awful interaction. If he was ever going to talk things out with Paola, it wasn’t going to be in UniversiTea (heh, funny) of all places.

Eventually, he slowed down. Keeling over, he gulped in mouthfuls of air, trying to erase the image of Paola’s embarrassed face from his mind. She hadn’t changed a bit, had she? He probably hadn’t, either. God, he should’ve said something instead of run.

This would be a great scene for his comic.

The thought slapped some sense into him. He still had no coffee, but he could probably push past that if he tried hard enough. Turning on his heel, he started walking aimlessly toward a place where he could work on his comic. The moment his pens were out, he’d be fine. Things would be fine. Yeah. Yeah, sure.

  • TW: descriptive text implying panic attack

    ---

The soft wind breeze tickled his skin as he laid upon the grass with content. Eye closed with long lashes fluttering occasionally to signify to the world that this long, lanky human was indeed not dead but rather relaxing. Bathing in the beauty of what nature had for those who dwelled on this planet. Slow breathing, inhaling through his nose and exhaling through his mouth - an occasional hand lifted, guiding a vape to his lips to indulge in the sweetness it provided to his soul. All the while, airpods stuck in his ears played a counter active aesthetic. The thrashing of the drums, wailing of guitars, thumping of bass and growls and cries of the lead singer who wallowed in self-pity over a broken heart.

This was what he needed after the week he had had.

Well, it was always a second thought; to lie on the grass in such pleasure. The first thought was to see who was keen to hook up to relieve some stress. But, sadly, it seemed as if all his current hookups were unavailable at this time, or were yet to read the message that had infiltrated their inboxes. With no confirmation of meet ups of any sorts, Tobias had to find a way to relieve the stress that didn’t involve getting absolutely hammered from day-drinking. What a poor look that would’ve been. So, this would have to suffice. And it did.

    Until it happened.

Relaxing one moment, exhaling a puff of cherry smoke before being ambushed by something fluffy and wet spreading across his face. His dark eyes snapped open, instantly awake and aware of everything around him, and bringing himself up to a seated option. The animal continued to lunge, aiming to envelope his face despite Tobias leaning away. He could’ve just stood up. He could’ve even pushed the animal away. Yet unable to find the energy or strength to move from what was happening. He just sat there, petrified of what could happen before him. Scared to death of what could happen to him.

The owner of the small Maltese dog came racing forward, her mouth moving with her apology followed by a bubble of giggles as she attempted to call the dog off the tall man. Despite an airpod falling to the ground, automatically causing the blaring music to cease playing, Tobias was unable to hear the girl. Her words didn’t meet his ears as he sat there in a state of… well, shock. When the dog didn’t come back to her, she approached with a grin on her face and scooped up the pooch before making her way off. She didn’t even stop to ask if the man was okay. After all, it was just a puppy. A puppy who wanted to come for cuddles and kisses. There was no need to be afraid, right?

It was just a puppy. It would be an awfully stupid thing to be scared of, right?

It felt like he had swallowed a brick that was now falling into the pits of his guts, pulling his centre of gravity down with him as it did so. He felt absolutely sick to his stomach, all the while his mouth becoming incredibly dry and feeling light headed. What could’ve been the cause of all of these feelings? Certainly not the dog. No, of course not. That would be silly for a dog to cause such a response. Of course not. Never.

And yet the heaviness in his pit continued to grow.

The vibration of his phone in his hand was enough to finally whip him out of this state he found himself stuck in. Eyes glanced down to see the screen lighting up a message he had just received; Clarissa. An indication that she was available. She was here, in her dorm room. And that they could meet. That’s all this is, he thought to himself as he gazed down at the message This lying on the grass shit wasn’t what I needed to relax. A good fuck is. Yeah. A good fuck is the only thing that is going to make this better. A really good fuck. Of course. That’s why he felt that way, right? He felt this way because he wasn’t relaxed. He needed a good fuck to make things all better, right?

Yeh. That’s exactly what it was.

    Was it?

All of a sudden, the energy that he couldn’t find before had been released. He was able to gather his things and push himself off the group. Long legs made his travel from the courtyards to Clarissa’s dorm room a rather fast one. And as he stood before her room, giving it a cluster of firm knocks to show that he was there, he couldn’t help but notice the pace of his breathing. Once rhythmic and full of peace, was now struggling to find its pattern. It’s just cause I walked fast he told himself, attempting to ignore the feeling of his heart racing violently in his chest. Walking fast makes your heart faster. It’s nothing. Nothing at all.

Of course it was nothing. Of course everything was fine. And why wouldn’t it be? And he could prove that everything was fine - that he was his normal self. There was nothing bothering him at all. As Clarissa slowly opened the door to her dorm, Tobias took no time to make it known why he was there and what he needed to get rid of this dread sitting in his gut. He slunk his way through the crack of the door Clarissa had created as she began to open it, and latched his lips upon hers before the door could be properly closed. Hands held onto her face, ensuring that her lips had to remain upon against his in order for him to feel better. Because this had to make things feel better.

There was nothing else that could make this feel any better.

mathis

the designer

"You're so lovely, when you cry it kills me..." The soprano voice crooned in Mathis' ears as they sat on the path, leaning back against the barrier protecting one of many flower beds in the Terra Garden. He wore wired headphones - because he thought he was vintage like that - playing the playlist that always aided him in getting some work done. It made them just sad enough that he wanted to draw, but wasn't so sad it would send him into a depressive spiral. Of course, sitting on the ground in the gardens wasn't exactly a sight that screamed 'joy'.

A deep sigh escaped Mathis as he erased part of his sketch for what felt like the thousandth time. He really ought to do some other homework, and he knew that, but he had something in mind for this design. They just weren't sure what yet. They closed their eyes for a moment, tried to let themself relax. Images of the showcase came back to him; the stress, the running around, Cain. Mathis opened his eyes and stared at his sketch, trying to think of something, anything else. His feelings towards Cain were more than a little complex, and nothing that Mathis felt he had time to ponder now, if ever.

Allowing his eyes to drift to the flowers opposite them as the next song played, Mathis absentmindedly sketched some roses on the skirt of the figure on their page, then huffed and dropped their pencil on the ground. Flowers were perhaps the most unoriginal technique in fashion, he thought, running a hand through his hair. It was days like this when Mathis felt that his supposed 'talent' for fashion was nothing of a talent at all. "What was I made for?" Drifted in his ears, and he couldn't help but wonder the same damn thing.

When the curtains of the Opening Showcase closed down, a wave of relief went through Juliet’s body. She could still remember the applause of the public. Knowing that the months of hard work, sweat, and dedication led up to this moment, left her with a warm feeling of accomplishment in her heart.

As the final performances were happening a sense of excitement went through her veins. Juliet felt a hopeful thrill for the school year as she imagined the new challenges and opportunities that would encounter. And this performance was just the beginning of the next year, Juliet decided that she would try her best to walk through that journey with a smile as she build her journey as a ballerina.

But not everything in her life revolved about dancing and her returning to her usual part-time job at La Pallina was the main example of that. The vivid ice cream shop was almost like a second home to the ballerina.

As Juliet was surrounded by the sweet aromas of ice cream and the joyful laughters of the customers that were spending their weekend in the ice cream parlor, and in the crowded room there was a familiar face that brightened her day even if in the last couple of months their relationship was a bit strained mostly due to her own fault.

Tim, who waited patiently for her shift to end, found a way to entertain himself, trying every flavor of ice cream the place had to offer, free samples that the ballerina served without any problem although she had the suspicion that her younger brother was already repeating the flavors, but she wasn’t so sure about this as she was still busy with the rest of the customers but seeing Tim happy was enough for the ballerina, she wanted this day to go perfectly and hoped that her younger brother would love this place as much as she did once she show him around just like she promised.

“I know I can’t refuse to give free samples, but this isn’t the second time you try the Stracciatella? If you get a stomachache from eating all this gelato, Mom would become worried sick and I’ll have to deal with the consequences of not stopping you.”

The first weekend of a semester was always more exhausting than any other, at least by Laurel’s reckoning. Schoolwork hadn’t yet piled up, jobs tapered off in recognition of her education, and her mother hadn’t yet stopped barraging her with questions about her daily life. She wasn’t too busy yet, right? So of course Mom would be asking how she was, was Patrick being nice to her, blah blah blah.

She’d gotten to sleep in, but Laurel wanted to crawl back into bed. Instead, she’d decided maybe she’d step outside into the sun—probably a horrible idea, as many of hers were, but she was going to try—and work in her sketchbook.

That was her plan, at least, but as she wandered around campus, she completely failed to choose a place to sit. The garden? Too many smells for her to focus. UniversiTea? Too crowded at this time of day. Why was this campus just so full of things? So many options, too few braincells to process them with.

Laurel sighed, feeling the buzz in her pocket from an incoming text. Probably from her mom. She didn’t like ignoring her mother’s messages, she loved her dearly, but dear God, she was not in the mindset to answer any questions. The past week had been fine and all, but even after a year here, she still felt lost. She could have as much routine as she wanted here at Muse, but it didn’t make up for the fact that she wasn’t really doing what she wanted.

Of course, Laurel probably proved she wasn’t meant to be a model the moment she bumped into someone on the path. Just slammed right into them, she did. How stupid was she? In her absentmindedness, she’d dropped her sketchbook, and it fell open to one of the latest ones she’d been working on, inspired by one of her newest classmates. Not that she would ever show said classmate just how inspiring her angelic good looks were.

Then she looked up.

Oh, goddammit. Naturally, she’d bumped into Wilhelmina. They were the same age, but Wilhelmina was a year behind Laurel, and she was clearly much more suited for modeling than she ever was. Just look at her.

Wait. Fuck. Wilhelmina.

Laurel’s eyes shot down to her open sketchbook. To the untrained eye, it was just a sketch of a light-haired woman in a bubblegum pink gown that ended in a hem that looked similar to the crest of a wave. Unfortunately, Laurel had a tendency more often than not to sketch the features of whichever model inspired her designs. And this one was inspired by none other than Wilhelmina.

Darting down faster than she probably would’ve anywhere else, Laurel snatched the sketchbook and clutched it to her chest, stiffening up as she faced Wilhelmina again. She stared at her feet, willing whatever god was watching her to save her from her embarrassment. The blush across her face definitely wasn’t helping matters. She stammered, “S-sorry for bumping into you. Um, I didn’t hurt you, did I…?”

For the first time in her life, she wished Patrick would swoop in and tell her this was all an elaborate prank.

Twenty One Pilots

Chlorine

As much as Clarissa would hate to admit it. The first week back was not as dull as it was last year. It felt rather different to have come to Campus with her work being recognised and displayed, people she considered close friends happy to see her and not to mention a certain slick and tall male that slides in her DMs more often than not lately. It was a rather eventful first week back more than she likes to admit.

After parting from her best friend, Clary did not really dally and hang around the Showcase, Clarissa only left her room unless absolutely necessary. The brunette was never really a fan of public places, let alone public events. So after her reunion with both her boys throughout the week, she decided to finally unpack and settle her room to make it more homier and well more purple for starters. Truly, Clarissa had no issues with her roommate who was a third year that keeps herself occupied in her writing. Ironically they made quite the pair to begin with. It was rather quiet when on one side a female was submerged in her writing whereas on the other one was submerged in her drawings with music blaring from her headphones.

Unboxing bit by bit she finally managed to get her desk set up with her laptop, tablet and other stationery together with an old picture she had of her and her twin brother, Casper - despite having her own separate life out of her control, it was the only thing she had linked to her past. Her only memory. Not even her 'adoptive mother' knew she had that picture. Only God knew what she would do to it and herself even if she found out Clarissa, had that this whole time. Swaying her hips and twirling around to the sound of Ride by Twenty Pilots she proceeded to unbox her clothing and set them neatly in her wardrobe. Not that she really needed to colour code as her aesthetic mainly ranged from blacks, greys and purples.

As she went to her last box, she slipped out a heavy frame that had all the Polaroids framed all together as she had done over the summer. Mainly they were of herself and some included her best friend, Derrick throughout school and summer vacations - she even managed to slyly slide one of her and Tobias in one of their bar nights, goofing off. Oh, how he would fume if he had to see that. Climbing onto her bed, she hooked it up on the wall adjacent to the bed which was now her wall of memories with so much more to add. It was something she was haunting Derrick for as she needed a memoir frame of polaroids for all her years in Muse. It was a must.

A faint smile danced on her lips as her eyes scanned the frame and reminisce. Clary never pictured her first year to unfold like this, especially knowing how much she tended to love her own company. The sound of the song from her earbuds had briefly stopped as a notification popped up on her cell phone and she had an inkling who it might be. With a raised eyebrow, she jumped off her bed and humming the beat of the song she lifted her screen to see her inkling confirmed. Tobias.

Clary could not help but smirk as she opened the text,
"Already? Hmm..."
she started texting him back a response. At first, she wanted to tell him she was occupied for the sake of keeping him hanging once in a while, especially since they got their fix more than enough this week. Given their occurrences were usually twice a week on a minimum lately, this was going to reach their quota. Gnawing on her lower lip in thought, she erased her rejection and simply typed 'Dorm, in 5.' for him. At least it gave her some time to advise her roommate to take a bit of a detour if she intended to come back to the dorms. The last thing she wanted was to rope Coraline into a life she rather kept private.

Looking down at her outfit, she frowned at her silk pyjamas which were rather comfortable and had no intention of changing them. Not that they were going to be a problem in around five to ten minutes.

Her internal conversation was rather disturbed by a series of abrupt knocks that nearly startled her. That alone was not so convincing, even the knocks sounded like internal panic. Warily she moved towards the door to turn open but as she turned the knob and opened it a creak, she saw slender fingers peering through the crack in the door and wasting no time to make his presence known in the room. Feeling his lips harshly brush against hers, she was too stunned at his actions as she entertained his lusting kiss, pushing them back so she let the door shut with Toby's back with a rather loud thud.

She knew he was forward but not this forward. Something was not adding up. He never showed up in such a hurry or eagerness or so to speak. He was as equal in lust but he had a more chill vibe. Clary could not help but notice how he held onto her, his palms almost trembling as he held her face, her own palms shooting up to his wrists as she parted their kiss. Hazel eyes scanned his face which was usually rather sceptical, with no emotion even. Something was not adding up.

One hand trailed down his arm and to his chest, feeling his heart beating more than he did when he dissolved himself into his drumming sessions. Breathing rather hitched before even entering the room. Unevenness. An eyebrow shot up in worry at the sight of her companion in a state of distress and panic. A sight that was truly rare to be seen. Was this a panic attack trying to be healed?

Seeing him agitated was starting to cause the start of her own, her palm trembling a little bit before shaking it off. Placing the wandering hand on his cheek she slowly angled his face so their gazes could meet, a thumb trailing slowly across his lower lip. Clarissa's look went from cold and lust to worry and care. True, while Tobias was a hookup he was starting to warm her heart and that was something that alarmed her after building walls so high for him not to jump over. Especially knowing the man in front of her had more conquests than she could count on her finger.

Clearing her throat ever so slightly she whispered,
"Talk to me."

This was roughly the fourth time she had spoken to him with words. Knowing very well they exchanged more communication with their body rather than their voice, this was saved for urgent cases where words are needed more than actions. Her eyes sparkled slightly as she took his hands and guided him towards her bed so that he can regain the shortness of breath and lay down for a bit if he could manage.

This was definitely not one of the usual hook-up calls. At least not for the usual reasons. This was new.

“I have been absolutely terrified every moment of my life-- and I have never let it keep me from doing a single thing I wanted to do."
― Georgia
O'Keefe

A joint hung lazily out of Charlie's mouth, a trail of smoke twisting in the air while his eyes stayed fixated on the pages of his latest Manga hyper-fixation. Uzumaki by Junji Ito had him enraptured since he'd started reading it the night before, and the warm sunshine caressing his skin was the perfect vibe to read in. No sensory nightmares out here, at least for now.

He was tucked under a tree on the outskirts of school property, a place he'd found over the last few years would be rarely visited by other people. At the very least, it wouldn't be visited by people that would have strong negative feelings about his choice of smoke.

Xena was with him, as she normally was, her side pressed against his thigh. She panted lazily, her eyes squinting up at the sun as she basked in it. She loved being outside when it was chill like this. Frankly, Charlie did too.

The twisted body horror found within the pages of his manga seemed a stark juxtaposition to his mood and the world around him, and perhaps it was odd that he was reading it with a smile on his face, but Charlie was thoroughly enjoying himself, and honestly he wasn't paying attention to himself enough to know what his expression looked like.

His peripheral gaze caught onto movement, Xena's ears perked up as she seemed to hear something nearby. Charlie didn't hear any people, not that his hearing could ever be compared to that of a dog, so he assumed it must be some nearby critter catching her attention. Her body jerked, as if she was fighting the impulse to take off in excitement. In perfect, typical good girl fashion, she held herself still. However, she did let out a low and timid whine, and tilted her chin up to look in Charlie's direction, as if asking permission to take off.

Without hesitation, Charlie unlatched her leash from her collar. "Go ahead, get the energy out Xeens." He laughed as she immediately darted up and towards a squirrel. He figured that must've been what she'd heard earlier.

He was confident letting her off her leash. He knew he wasn't really supposed to while he was on campus, but Xena was well-trained and highly unlikely to run off from him. And she always listened, she'd come to him when he called to her.

He realized, with a bit of surprise, that he'd let some ash build up at the end of his joint, and he flicked it off before hitting it again. He let the heavy smoke fill his lungs, and held his breath as he closed his eyes. The world came crashing in, providing a cacophony of sounds to his ears. The distant buzzing of insects, the breeze rustling tree leaves, the creaking of the branches above him.

He opened his eyes as he exhaled, and the sounds seemed to dim down again.

At least enough for him to return his attention to Uzumaki.

For a little while, at least, until his phone dinged a couple times, alerting him that he'd recieved some text messages.

HIs expression broke into a grin. He'd been waiting for that sound.

i seriously can't wait to see you! ♡

heading to the cafe to pick up my check (:

Paola.

A fling that had become something incredibly more interesting than a fling.

Charlie was often one to mess around and have a lot of fun. While he wasn't scared of commitment, he often shied away from it in favor of focusing on himself for himself. Instead of for another person.

Paola had wormed her way into his heart during a particularly adventuresome time for him. Except, she seemed to stick around. And not just for the sex-- which he had to admit, was amazing. She was friendly by nature, sure, but she'd become his friend. They exchanged countless text messages over the summer, never really fluctuating in frequency or in enjoyment. They'd only picked up the pace since they'd returned, and now Charlie found himself eager to meet up with her in person once again.

And not just for the sex.

Everything about Paola was so wonderfully unexpected, and Charlie answered her message immediately. Eager to keep the conversation flowing until he saw her face again. Even if they were mere minutes away from doing so.

ditto!!

it's been entirely too long

still feel cheated i didn't see you at the showcase

want me to meet you at the cafe?

Although only slightly disappointed that he wouldn't be finishing Uzumaki quite yet, he still dog-eared it and closed it with a sense of satisfaction. Today was a great one, and seeing Paola was about to make it even better.

Whew! Now that the back-to-school frenzy of the opening showcase was over, Alix finally had time to focus on the essentials: new makeup for the season (check), Marlboro cigarettes (check), weed (check, thanks Gus!) and now all that was left was the replenishment of her liquor cabinet – there wasn’t a single drop left from the last party she went to before flying back to France, not without a colossal headache, the very next day. She did bring (read: steal) a couple of bottles of wine from her parents’ cellar, but she wanted to keep them in case of emergency: whenever she’d be feeling anxious, stressed, sad, angry or thirsty.

She texted Mauricio this morning in a brief moment of consciousness in bed even though she very much knew he wouldn’t reply until he got out of his latest substance-induced nap. It didn’t bother her all that much, really. She was one of his most faithful customers, so she was confident she’d get a reply… eventually.

Teagan was already out when Alix dragged herself out of bed. Checking the weather forecast for the day, she saw it would be rather warm still for this time of year. She tried four different outfits before her final pick and took her time to do her face using a soft, nude palette. She’d bring out her wine red lipstick, one of her favourite shades, in the evening for the party. Alix had no clue who was throwing the bash, but it’s not like she cared much anyway; she was going to get properly shitfaced and was embracing her fate gleefully. She didn’t get the chance to talk to many of her friends this week save for a few texts, so she’d just have to wait and see who showed up, I guess.

A couple of days before as they crossed paths after classes, Patrick had agreed to go shopping with her since he also needed a reup of his favourites. They were to meet at the dorm entrance at 2. She texted him to say she was stepping out to meet him, and in typical Alix fashion, still managed to arrive about 15 minutes late. What was the story this time? One of the most common scenarios which Patrick was all too familiar with: she forgot to lock the door the first time she stepped out and realized she had misplaced her keys somewhere around the apartment, turned her bedroom upside down to discover that she had left them on the dining table and came back once more after successfully locking the door to grab her phone she forgot that she had set on the counter as she searched for the keys.

Sure enough, the handsome blonde was calmly waiting outside, looking at his phone while sitting on one of the intricately chiseled stone benches. Alix walked as fast as her high heels would allow, gave Patrick a big squeeze and a kiss on each cheek before saying between two heavy breaths: “I’m so sorry chéri, here I am. Thank you for waiting, I’m so lucky to have a bestie with the patience of a saint! Let’s go, shall we? I’ve been craving whiskey for days now!”

Pharell Williams

Happy

Patrick felt rather amped this fine morning. Waking up to an empty dorm as per usual was nothing new. Where his roommate ever was, he was still unaware. Tobias was quite a ghost. He was either an early bird or crashed somewhere else as most times even his bed was left untouched. Nonetheless Pat was not one to pry in his business and the little he interacted with him throughout these years was always decent. In fact, whenever Tobias needed the dorm for his reasons, Pat made himself busy somewhere else. Besides the man was always swamped with schoolwork.

In fact, he was hyped for various reasons this fine morning. For starters, he was in his final year and was determined to leave with a bang, both academically and socially. Pat was known to be the big brother figure but he also had a mischievous yet party streak that mostly those he calls best friends get to at most. He knew that both Callaway and Alix would love a little noise... it was quite the quiet week for his taste. Patrick focused on his new techniques and taking in his fellow peers' requests so that he can assist his theatre buddies in their performance. Together with a good friend of his, who directed the stage better than any student he had ever seen, they decided to team up for quite a display combination. He would often meet up late with Teddy in order to prepare and conduct scene after scene for every performance set foot in the Florence Auditorium.

Last night was one of them. He quickly took out his phone to shoot a quick text to Theo: 'Nice work yesterday bud, can't wait for the next sesh. Performance in three days. Stay pos and good day x ;]', he smiled to himself as he hit send before returning to his wardrobe to select some clean pants, a t-shirt and his trusty jacket to throw over before heading to the bathroom so that he can tone down those golden locks with some water and the tiniest hint of gel to hold in place. However, as he thought he had enough time to lay back and watch some videos, his phone decided to say otherwise. A rather loud tinkering noise omitted from the device as a notification 'Booze Refill - Alix' came up. The alarm he set for himself to meet Alix went off. Patrick was starting to get rather forgetful with things that did not include his school work and he found alarms 15 minutes before they were due was something that was proving to work. Besides, who was he to deny his best girl pal some quality booze-shopping time hm?

As he slid the phone and his wallet into his jacket's pocket, he whistled his way out of the dorms and spun the key in his hand as he walked towards their agreed meeting spot, offering a few nods and waves to his fellow peers.

Leaning against the bricked wall of the entrance he made it with five minutes to spare. As the minutes ticked, it was avid that Alix was going to show up fashionably late and so he let out an unbelievable sigh and looked for a place to sit till she showed. Ah, a stone bench calling out his name he manoeuvred towards and relaxed cross-legged on it. Figuring out not to waste time, he opened his phone to check his timetable as well as watch some TikToks which was proving to help the creative flow believe it or not. In the middle, he noticed an incoming text that she was on the way to which he snickered.

Five... Ten... Fifteen minutes later... before he could hear heels clicking against the cobblestoned floor. Frantic to say the least, which he recognised all too well.

Patrick lifted his head up to see Alix finally gracing him with her presence.

"Ah finally the queen graced me with her presence,"
he exclaimed as he stood up, opening his arms to greet her as she slid into his arms.
"Lemme guess, it took you ten minutes to treasure hunt those keys of yours, hm? And phone if I want to test my luck,"
Long arms wrapped around her as she squeezed him letting out a small laugh as she kissed both his cheeks, not knowing that she probably stained his cheeks with her wine-red lipstick.

Looking down at his friend, he took a few steps back and shook his head,
"Don't thank me just yet, I may have the patience of a saint but that waiting got me all famished. Who knows maybe even make me more forgiving..."
Patrick rubbed his abdomen, hinting his friend could buy him snacks in compensation as jokingly as ever. As she prompted them to leave,
"Ready when you are, mademoiselle..."
he let one hand out to gesture to the exit and the other looped in the air so she could loop her arm through,
"Whiskey won't buy itself and the Gin won't either."

F.U.N

Some Nights

It was safe to say that this week and the first days of classes for Estelle went by with flying colours and not to mention in a blur.

She had wasted no time to set up her dorm which involved a lot of poster hanging, figurine dusting of her character models as well as a shit ton of terrain boards, Dungeons & Dragons manuals, comics and let's not forget the sketchbooks. All unfinished projects or campaigns needed to be built. Stella was not the neatest bug out there so her side tended to be a bit unkempt especially when she was all over the place when trying to settle down and work on something... be it her latest comic strip or even her own campaign which she was intent on starting. All big plans to flourish but with no parties to execute.

Stella was rummaging through her suitcase which was still full of her clothing to find the perfect recruiting t-shirt she had brought. She was hell-bent on at least starting her first big thing which was to form her first campaign within the University. She already had two recruits who were her blossoming best friends ever since they encountered each other on their first day there. Speaking of which, she quickly made haste and went to get dressed as Jay was about to arrive in a few minutes so they could do some exploring around... you know familiarising with campus and that jazz. Slipping in her skirt and D&D shirt with a darker shade cardigan, she looked at herself in the mirror and gave her golden blonde curls a big fluff before proceeding to tie it up in a high ponytail, leaving a few strands out. Stella was never one for make-up so she decided to go with the all-natural glow.

Going around back to her back she picked up the pack of posters which she was about to disseminate to all those interested. She had pinned two to three posters on the main notice boards for each department in hopes of interest. Today it was by hand. She had already some interests but she wanted to make sure that in the few days left she would gather enough interest. then the couple who showed interest. It would be her greatest joy to share such imagination with others.

A faint knock was heard on her door, knowing well it was her companion. With the posters in hand, the female slung her backpack and opened the door. As suspected, Jay was revealed without even a chance of a hi she placed the posters in his hand,
"So for the first few minutes I shall need you to be my squire and help me disseminate all these posters as we go around!"
she managed to let out in one breath before she went back to the typical hello. Her serious face softened as a wide-toothed smile appeared, closing the door behind her.
"Also, Hiiii!"
With that, the blonde pulled him into a warm hug before taking his hand and dragging him towards the dormitories entrance so they can do what they had initially planned and explore.

The pair looked around and disseminated any posters they could as Estelle put up her best recruiter face on.
"Sorry I couldn't find you a matching recruiting shirt, I don't think my size would have fit,"
she kidded as the female was about to hand the last one she noticed that both their hands were empty which was a mission success.
"Ahh, I hope we get some replies in. I am still miffed that such a big University does not have its own club or something..."
Shrugging it off she looked at her best friend before noticing the big ice cream parlour behind him.

Having started at it for a brief second, she could feel her stomach grumbling and she pointed towards the ice cream parlour,
"Shall we? Could use the refresher after all that walking..."
she muttered before awaiting a response from him. As if on call, both their mobile phones beeped which could only be one person. Seb. The other third of their little trio had messaged in the group chat and his text caused a chuckle to escape her lips,
"Too bad he missed the recruiting... maybe we should see if he is free for ice cream too?"

Stella made it a point to surround herself with positive energy and these two boys whilst they shared a love for creativity in similar genres, they were also a breather for Stella and her rambling and bursts of energy. Not many stuck to it, to say the least. Deep down she would always be scared that one day she might be too much but it was inevitable. It was who she was and that was not going to change, only appreciated.

Taking a minute she decided to type in, 'Nothing to worry about... unless you c-' but she quickly halted and deleted the text as she saw the male intended to receive the text across the hall, looking like he just ran the run of his life.
"Looks like he did something needing supervision..."
she muttered before cupping her mouth with her hands to amplify her voice,
"Yo Seb! Over here!"
she called out, waving a hand.

For Dorian, the showcase went without a hitch. Well. That wasn’t true. There were several hitches, including the fiasco of not realizing he’d had his composition in his bag the whole time. That was embarrassing. He’d put Hawk through so much effort to help him… and of course it was for nothing. A miracle, really, that he’d survived twenty years of life so far. It was probably thanks to Lisa. Yeah. Sigh.

All those aside, without a hitch! The first week of classes was even better; knowing the drill really lent to a sense of calm when it came to the starting-a-new-semester thing. He’d had plenty of ideas for new videos in the past week, but he’d been running around so much, he’d forgotten to ask his regular collaborators what they thought about it. At the very least, he probably needed to text Patrick and tell him he wanted to do something soon. Now if only he could find his phone charger…

The PIT was thriving, of course, which was fine except when Dorian needed something. Though it wasn’t actually sentient, the PIT had a way of making you think it was by taking away whatever you needed at precisely that moment. Really, it was a wonder he and Callaway got anything done with the splendiferous PIT in their lives.

He couldn’t ask for a better roommate, truly.

Now it was the weekend, and without a video to shoot, Dorian felt a bit empty inside. He could always practice the piano, but how cliché would that be of him? Even with his fingers itching to do something, tickle the ivories a bit, there was definitely more he could be doing with his life, right? Right! He didn’t need to always be defined by the fact that he lived and breathed piano and sometimes felt like he was dying on the inside if he wasn’t playing it and fulfilling his mother’s dying wish! YEAH!

Wait, what?

The question remained: where to go? He could go to the Music Department building and hang out. He could go to the ice cream shop and end up writing a song based on the sprinkles. He could get a coffee (that he clearly didn’t need) at the café. The possibilities were a little too endless.

Maybe he’d stop by Harmonix Junction.

A solid plan. He had a plan now. The only problem… which way was it from the dorm, again?

Dorian stood outside Porter Hall, his lips pursed in front of his face in a rather fish-like manner. He… was going to need some help.

Sebastian ( AnimeGenork AnimeGenork )

"this is a dialogue."

Scarlett bit her lip, pen scratching across the paper. It was the only noise she could hear in the quietness of the library. Soothing. She had spent many nights on planes or tucked in the corner of a car putting her ideas to paper. It had become a solace of sorts. Of course, those times her mother was often scoffing or taking her paper from her. Now she was an adult, in school, doing what she loved. Writing.

It was nice to be back at school, surrounded by the flow of coming and going to classes. There was lots of work to be done. She was finally starting her writing-centered classes and it was thrilling. She had managed to squeeze into a junior short story class. It was a little intimating, but they had good discussions that week.

She sat back to scan her first assignment. Another short story that combined different elements. It was supposed to be typed, but she loved being able to write something down. The action caused her to relax and focus on forming the letters properly and in turn that meant she used the right words. There was something very satisfying about writing. She set her pencil down to pull out her phone and pulled open her texts. One from her mother, two from her great aunt, one from Noah. Her eyes landed on Sebastian’s name. A small smile curled her lips.

She hadn’t really looked for flings last year. It just hadn’t been in the cards for her, but Sebastian had been something different. Charming, cheeky. They’d had a fun night, and honestly? She wanted a repeat of the events. She opened their texts and debated texting him or not. She tilted from her head side to side as she thought. Was it too quick? She wasn’t too high-strung yet. She swiped out of the app, deciding against it. Later. She closed her notebook and started stuffing things into her backpack. Her next class was coming up.

Scarlett swung the bag over her shoulder, enjoying the feeling of being normal, of not having everyone staring at her. She smiled, pleased and content.

"this is a dialogue."

Noah stood in one of the studio rooms in the Fashion Arts building, head dutifully bent over a large table. He was basically bent over it, laying most of his torso down as he sketched out designs. Music played loudly in his ears. This was something that he loved to do. He was an artist deep down, delighting in the flow of lines and shading. He loved brining things to life. He’d rather be doing anything else right now. He really only enjoyed drawing when it wasn’t for some stupid grade that determined the rest of his schooling.

Really, getting a bachelor’s should have been enough. He scowled as he drew a crooked line. He picked up an eraser and vanished his mistake. Again. He had been tasked with creating something wholly unique. In this day and age that was nearly impossible. Nearly. He would figure something out. He was a Taylor of course. He was fashion royalty. It couldn’t be that hard. If his parents could it, he could. Speaking of…

His mother was due to come screaming down his metaphorical door any day now. One of the reasons he was attending school at Muse and even attempting to get his Masters was because he was supposed to be keeping on eye on his little sister. He hadn’t seen her once. She only responded to his texts, and even then she still left him on read more times than not. He understood. She was focused on her schooling. Plus, he was focused on his. Going to graduate school turned out to be a lot more intense than he had expected and it was only the first week. He groaned, tossing his pencil and flopping all the way down on the table. Papers fluttered around him and drifted to the floor.

"Shit,"
he muttered half-heartedly watching as they landed face up. Half drawn designs with crisscrossing patterns. Disappointing.

Teagan needed quiet today. She needed silence. A place where there was no noise. No reason to worry about people bothering her for class notes. Where she didn't need to pretend to be open to talking to others. Not that it usually worked. Her resting bitch face was just too good. Too good for anyone but her cousin to come near her. She hated the past week. It was the new classes, new teachers, and new everything. It was the same thing year after year, where she has to deal with figuring out how to handle her new classes, and new professors. How she can actively avoid speaking in class, even when she has doctors and psychologists both telling the school that Teagan needs to be warned if she was getting called on? To help with her anxiety.

Not that they listened well.

She just hated this week. It was the week of hell, then she learned how to handle it. It became less of a problem and more of an annoyance. Teagan had gotten up early this morning, taking her sketch books, and drawing utensils. She needed quiet, and there was only one place in the whole school where she was going to get that quiet she so needed. That quiet that she craved. That was in the library where being quiet was a requirement and not a choice. It was one of her favorite places to hide in. And today she was going to hide until she was found by either her cousin or Teddy.

She took her headphones and went to the library. Finding a table in the back, she sits down. And lets the world around her disappear as she put that pencil on the paper and just lets her mind out. Teagan found drawing to be the true way to speak to others. To show others how she's feeling, how she's surviving, how she's expressing her feelings. It was the way she talked.

And she loves talking in this form.

"Over the years I have learned that what is important in a dress is the woman who's wearing it."
Yves Saint
Laurent

Getting settled in at Muse University had been her first priority. Unpacked, put away, and well-studied was how she wanted to exit her first week. Of course, she succeeded. She usually did succeed at things she put her mind to. It was why she was a roller derby champion-- and a pretty decent mechanic. Not that those were the strengths she usually chose to show off to anyone. Those were here more secret skills, ones she held close to her heart and deep in her pocket.

However, she'd made sure to boast her musical training to just about anyone that had spoken to her recently, and flaunted her depth of knowledge to anyone that she'd felt was a challenge to her. Perhaps that was why she hadn't really made any friends.

Oh well, she didn't need them anyway. She wasn't here for friendship, she was here to make something of herself, by herself. Nothing else mattered.

Still, Wilhelmina liked to work hard, and play harder. She always loved a good party, or an energetic clubbing atmosphere. Though under the drinking age, Wil was hot, and she was used to getting in just about anywhere she wanted. Especially if her sister was with her. As irritating as she was, she did always know the best places to party.

But since she only had like two friends here at the moment, and she hadn't been introduced to much of a nightlife in the area, she was spending her free time roaming around campus and growing more familiar with it. The more she saw of the place, the more she fell in love with it. It was beautiful, spacious, and full of people that weren't part of the Ibsen family. That was more than enough for her.

She missed Leo though.

Her brother was her closest confidant, and him not being a couple doors down in their penthouse apartment was a level of disappointment that she hadn't really expected to feel. She was so focused on everything she'd be escaping and had completely forgotten to think about the things, or the people, she might miss. So far, Leo and her Derby team had made the list.

She pulled out her phone to text her brother. Wanting to shoot him a little bit of love.

u'd never believe it

but i miss u man

feel like studying some of the arts maybe? ask a favor for some late admission or smn lol

She smiled at her phone, already writing a script in her head for how her brother was going to respond. She knew the arts weren't really his thing. Creative he was not. Still, a pang of sadness rolled through her and seemed to make her a little nauseous. She could feel her bile flooding the back of her throat and she swallowed hard.

Loneliness.

She knew what it was that made her feel like this. And she hated it.

Wil checked her phone again, anxiously in wait for her brother to text back.

After five minutes of waiting, she decided she was being ridiculous, and that she had to tools to combat her loneliness right at the tips of her fingers. She just needed to buck up and reach out. That was how friendships worked, right? This time, she pulled up a different name in her contacts. One that had been untouched for a while before she'd encountered her old friend Scarlett on campus a couple days ago.

Almost holding her breath, she typed out a message.

heyyy wyd?

i'm sufficiently and totally bored...liven up my day?

Hopefully, Scarlett would answer before Wil started driving herself insane with icky gross feelings. God she could really use a distraction.

As if the Heavens themselves had opened up and granted her wish-- a distraction fell into her lap. Well. The Heavens had a sick sense of humor because the distraction came in the form of a head on collision with another human being.

"Oof! Jesus Fuck!"

The words flung out of Wilhelmina's mouth before she could stop them. She could almost hear her mother's voice in her ear, chastising her for such unladylike language.

Her phone went flying out of her hand as Wil was jostled back a couple of steps from the strength of the impact. Anger boiled within her before she could tell herself to cool down, and once again her mouth moved before her mind could wrap itself around the situation.

"Can't you just watch where you're going? God!!"

Her eyes roamed around in search of her phone when something else caught her attention. A splash of bubblegum pink on a page. A sketchbook?

Upon further inspection, she realized it was a design. And an incredibly great one, though she'd never admit it out loud. Her brow furrowed in confusion. One of the fashion students? She looked up and realized who it was that had bumped into her. Hm. Even more odd, from what she could remember, the girl was a model. Not a designer. Wilhelmina was always prepared for a competition, she'd made it her job to know the ins and out of the other design students. And this one certainly wasn't one.

She'd been about to say something else snarky, but was caught off guard by Laurel reaching down and snatching up the sketchbook, hiding the design against her chest. Why would she want to hide something she was talented at? It took a second before Wil realized that Laurel was saying something. “S-sorry for bumping into you. Um, I didn’t hurt you, did I…?”

Hurt her? Wilhelmina stifled a laugh, but a wry smirk teased at the corners of her lips without her realizing it. She'd had girls three times the size of Laurel completely tackle her when she was doing roller derby. This was absolutely nothing. It was, however, annoying, and Wil still hadn't found her phone. So whatever glimpse of a grin Laurel might have caught was gone and quickly morphed into a bit of a scowl. "You're literally light as a feather. You think a thin, airy model stands a chance of hurting me? Doesn't mean I enjoyed it though. I've got places to be and now my phone's gotten launched out of my hand and I'm gonna have a bruise on my shoulder later. So thanks for that I guess."

The catty response came second nature to her, she always had to have a quip or five ready whenever she was around her sister. Not to mention, Wil also hadn't really been paying attention, she was just as much at fault but out of embarrassment she was ready and willing for Laurel to take the fall in this situation.

Wil always had a hard time admitting she was wrong.

F.U.N

We are Young

As established, Marisol was a young and passionate artist. She had been burning the midnight oil to bring her vision to life on canvas. Her area of the room was dimly lit, illuminated only by the soft glow of a single lamp so as to not wake up her roommate. As the strokes of her brush danced across the canvas, her eyelids grew heavy, and the exhaustion of the creative process finally caught up with her. Mari's head drooped, and before she knew it, she had fallen asleep on her half-finished masterpiece. The room was quiet, except for the rhythmic ticking of the clock on the wall. But suddenly, a gentle rustling sound pierced the silence. A soft breeze, carrying the fragrance of blooming flowers, wafted through the window and brushed against her face. Stirring from her slumber, she blinked her eyes open, disoriented at first. As her surroundings came into focus, she realized she had dozed off on her artwork.

Sitting up and stretching her back protesting against the awkward sleeping position, she looked at the canvas beneath her and winced – her once meticulous strokes were now a smudged and chaotic mess. Sighing, she brushed a hand through her tousled red hair, realising that she needed to freshen up. With determination, she rose from her chair and headed to the bathroom to shower and change into a clean set of clothes. The warm water rejuvenated her spirit, and as she dressed, she felt a renewed energy coursing through her veins. She packed a small canvas and her bag of art supplies – brushes, paints, and her beloved sketchbook – and decided it was time for a change of scenery.

Terra Garden, a serene haven filled with vibrant flowers, lush trees, and chirping birds, was Marisol's go-to place for inspiration. She found a cosy spot under the shade of a sprawling oak tree, the sunlight filtering through the leaves in a mesmerising pattern. With the scent of blooming roses in the air, she set up her easel and canvases, ready to immerse herself in her art again.

Her mind brimming with ideas, Mari dipped her brush into the paint and started to recreate the garden's beauty on her canvas. Her strokes were deliberate, capturing the intricate details of each petal, the interplay of light and shadow, and the delicate dance of colours. But as she progressed, a sense of unease began to creep in. Her initial enthusiasm waned, and the connection between her hand and the canvas felt strained. Taking a few steps back to assess her work, she tapped the paintbrush's wood against her chin in thought. What she had started with such zeal now seemed incomplete, lacking the magic that had driven her in the beginning. Frustration welled up within her as she realized that her muse had abandoned her once again. She stared at the canvas, her mind grappling to find the missing element that would breathe life into the piece.

Hours passed, and the sun gradually shifted angles, changing the natural lighting all over. Conflicted and disheartened, decided to pack up her supplies. She looked at the half-finished painting with a mixture of disappointment and resignation. The beauty of the Terra Garden was there, captured in delicate strokes, but the spark that would elevate it to a masterpiece eluded her.

With a sigh, she gathered her belongings and cast one last glance at the garden, hoping that someday she would return with a fresh perspective and the inspiration needed to complete both her pieces as she struggled through her creative block, motioning around campus on her way when she noticed a familiar blonde bumping into another person. Marisol's instinct was to run towards her friend, Laurel to check whether she was alright. Especially after the outburst the recipient of that collision received.

Worried eyebrows greeted Laurel,
"Are you okay, hon?"
she inquired before helping Laurel secure the sketchbook. She knew that she was struggling to be in the department as a model due to some standards. Marisol had been a shoulder to her ever since her first year when Mari decided to take fashion as a minor, to begin with. Knowing the girl's love for design was stronger she always pushed her to strive in what she loved rather than meeting expectations. Before making sure Laurel was all well, bump-aside... worried eyebrows would have reached the other party if they weren't so catty and rude in the first place. There was still the other party to settle...

Marisol's facial expressions hardened but a smile never faltered, her eyes scanning the ground for the dirty blonde's phone which shot in the direction of the lockers. As the females were exchanging their unpleasant one-sided conversation, Mari went to the lockers and lowered on all fours, reaching for the phone and giving it an examination. Thankfully, it seemed to have survived the collision. Great. One less thing she can attack with.

With crossed hands, Marisol advanced in front of the angered female, dangling the phone towards her.
"Here. Your phone is now relaunched in your hand,"
she said in the same tone, grabbing the female's hand to make it face up before placing the device in its owner's hand and aided in enclosing her fingers around it before returning her own hands on her hips.
"My friend apologised so why don't you go and be places and leaver her be, hmm?"

Marisol hated aggression and demeanour for no reason. Turning towards her friend she smiled,
"Shall we?"

However, as the pair were about to walk off, Mari's head of curls turned and offered a genuine smile and laugh,
"If you are worried about a bruise, I suggest you ice that. Soon."

Maybe heading out to the diner to study hadn't been the best idea, but Jade couldn't bring herself to regret it too much. She'd been starving, having missed breakfast due to losing track of time in her dorm. By the time she realized, it was already past noon and she was due to escape her dorm room.

Logically she thought the diner would be perfect. She could grab some food and spread out a bit at a table to get some work done. That had been the plan.

Her food had arrived not long after she ordered and she dug in gratefully. She finished the burger fast enough, now left with just her fries and her drink. With just that left, she figured it was time to hit the books again, pulling out both her laptop and her notebook, planning on getting back to work on her project.

The showcase had gone off without a hitch, thank god but she couldn't relax just yet. There was always another project, and after coming this far to try and make her dreams come true, she couldn't afford to fail and let everything come crashing down around her.

"Focus girl..."
she sighed, trying to get her head on straight. She reached over, grabbing a fry and shoving it in her mouth as she stared defiantly at her laptop.

Jade wanted to focus, she really did. She'd been making good progress earlier, but even though she'd had to stop so she could get something to eat, it seems that she ruined her concentration. The blank document on her laptop screen stared mockingly back at her. She groaned, letting her head fall forward into her arms. This was obviously going nowhere.

The music of the diner and the conversation of other patrons flowed around her as she wallowed in her misery. The bell above the door ringing as people came and left added to the noise, but she didn't respond, not bothering to look and see who had recently entered.

"Just end me already..."

Derick wasn't sure what it was about plants that had such a calming effect on him, but he was always at his most relaxed when surrounded by the earth. Maybe it was the fact that he was able to turn off his hearing aids, take them out even, and just be. Plants and dirt didn't bother him or ask stupid questions like people tended to. He was able to just zone out and focus on one thing without being bothered by the world around him.

That wasn't to say that he didn't enjoy being in the presence of some people, it was just most people that he tended to steer clear of.

People in general were annoying, and weren't worth the effort. Look at his parents for example. Clearly not worth the effort.

From his spot on a bench deep inside the garden, Derick had a great view of the entrance, letting him look for one of his newer friends, Caspar. They'd talked about meeting up at some point, both guys being fairly quiet and getting along well enough to see how far they could go. Derick didn't mind the idea, Caspar was already in his good books for not being a loud mouth breathing idiot like most of the population.

Hopefully you weren't wondering why he didn't have many friends.

He hummed softly to himself, though without his hearing aids turned on, he could only feel the vibrations of him making such a noise. Not that it bothered him, he was ready to turn the devices back on when he saw who he was waiting for. Until then, at least, he was more than content to enjoy the silence.

It didn't take too long for him to spot Caspar. Sitting up slightly from his slumped position, he reached up, fumbling with the small devices behind his ears. Wincing slightly at the sudden rush of low noise, he sighed. That was never pleasant.

"Caspar!" he called out, catching the other guy's attention. He wasn't sure what they were going to do, but he figured the garden would be as good a meeting spot as any.

fairytale

Amazingly the weeks following his first day at university were perfect. He was finally off on his own, despite the fact that his mother/manager kept calling him daily, sometimes even more. It didn't matter though because despite her calls, not all of which he answered, she couldn't reach him here. He did see her during some bigger photo shoots, that couldn't be helped.

Still, he was making the most of it! Not to mention, he was having a blast already due to the fact that he'd managed to make some friends so quickly! For example, the one he was on his way to meet now, Stella.

He and Alfred had left his own dorm and were making their way towards her room to collect fliers for the D&D club she wanted to start up, and while he didn't know much about the game, he was ready and willing to learn! The way she'd talked about it made it sound fun, and he didn't mind helping advertise, so he leashed up his black and white cat, and off they went!

It didn't take him long to reach Stella's room, and he knocked quickly on her door, Alfred sitting at his feet, patiently. Amazingly, his friend was already in the middle of a whirlwind. The second she opened the door and pulled him into her room, Jay was being given instructions. Not that he minded, he was used to following orders when it came to getting things done. Give him a task, and he'll get it done.

"Uh, yeah, for sure." he agreed when she paused for breath. He smiled though as she paused and said hello. "Hello, Stella. Busy day for us already?" he laughed as she pulled him into a hug, Alfred meowing at their feet.

Without missing a beat, Jay dived right in, following the blonde's lead as she led him back out of the dormitory, handing out fliers as they went. "Oh don't worry about it. I don't mind waiting for one, don't worry." he reassured her as she brought up the original plan to have matching shirts. As both their phones went off with a text, he pulled his out, reading the message from their other friend, Sebastian. He grinned, man his timing was perfect!

"Yeah, ice cream sounds great, right Alfred?" he glanced down at the feline at their feet. He received a meow in thanks for Jay's consideration. "He agrees. But yeah, you should definitely see if he is free!" he agreed.

Not really noticing that Stella had slowed down, Jay kept walking, so used to being on the move. He missed Alfred's warning meow as his head was still turned. He blinked, confused, as she seemed to look past him and then called out Seb's name. "Hu-oomph!"

He grunted in shock as he walked face first into someone's chest, losing his balance almost instantly. Model he may be, but if he wasn't in front of a camera, he could be pretty clumsy. Clearly, this was one of those moments. "O-oh sorry..." he started, having reached out to grab the arms of who he'd tripped onto, a flush covering his face. God, he'd really gone and done it this time...

"S-seb?"

Cain Santiago

the guitarist.

cain had managed to escape unwanted interaction swiftly since his return to the muse campus, until now. what was supposed to be a brief stop at his job turned into that of training the newbie, and it wasn't as quick as promised by his manager. still, his patience wasn't tested by the inconvenience, especially knowing that there was a blunt hidden in the pocket of his jacket. it was the only thing keeping his spirits high and his eyebrows from furrowing in annoyance while he guided the freshman behind the glass counter.

"the guitar picks are right here by the school keychains, and they're free if students buy one of these guitars back here," he explained, gesturing to the beautiful collection of the polished variety behind them. a tint of appreciation seemed to reside in his eye as he talked. "and if they're not buying, don't take them off the display. college surprisingly doesn't keep out the dumb fucks who think shit is free here." straightforwardness never left his tone no matter how many times his manager asked him to watch it.

before continuing, he counted twelve dollars from his wallet and tucked it into the register before slamming it shut with his hip.

"boss man is usually pretty chill about freshman and your first couple of days here, so you don't start until next week. but you'll see me around if you have any questions..," please don't have any questions, he thought to himself before snagging a guitar pick for his own.

giving his co-worker a nod to signal that he was done, cain walked from around the counter before heading out of the music store. now, his day would begin. he continued his leisurely walk, allowing his feet to lead him wherever they pleased. and as he strolled along the pathways, his fingers worked their way through the pocket of his jacket in search of the lighter that would allow him to enjoy his day further.

eventually, he found himself entering the terra garden, a serene spot on campus that managed to calm his mind along with his blunts. the scent of blooming flowers and the gentle rustling of leaves in the breeze created a calming atmosphere. and before he knew it, cain found a secluded bench to rest on.

with the lighter finally in hand, he ignited the end of the blunt, taking a long, slow drag. the familiar wave of relaxation washed over him as he exhaled a plume of smoke and watched it snake from his mouth and get lost in the breeze. he closed his eyes momentarily, savoring the temporary escape it offered him.

his form of meditation, however, quickly ended as a sudden sigh cut his bliss short. "what the fuck, man," a gritty tone sounded in his voice as he coughed up the sativa strain. low lidded eyes glanced behind him in the direction it came from.

a relaxed gaze met a familiar face who leaned against a planter, seemingly working a pencil vigorously against a sheet of paper.

"hey," he hollered out in a slightly louder tone while slowly turning his body to face the other. comfortability returned in his joints when he wasn't awkwardly twisted. "every time i see you, you're always stressing over some shit." he added, another cough breaking his words apart.

"wanna hit this?" a raised arm brandished his blunt as smoke floated away from the burning habit.

Paola Sandino

the theater kid.

running into sebastian, the last person she thought she would ever see again, caused her stomach to drop. she felt the rigidity snake throughout all of her limbs and freeze her right in her place in front of him. based on his reaction, the sudden jolt of fear was shared.

the words seemed to get stuck at the back of her throat when she tried to speak, only the sounds of her stuttering managing to escape from her mouth. however, sebastian's sudden speed as he ran passed her seemed to act like the force she needed to get out of her unyielding state. how ironic was it that she could only talk again once he was gone?

a sigh of frustration finally sounded from paola as her right foot slammed against the concrete in anger. never did she plan to utter a word to the womanizer again, intentional or not. but the realization that she shared a campus with him yet again was enough to jog unpleasant nostalgia. it was day-nightmare that she would have to save for another time.

ding ! ding ! ding ! ding !

the vibration folded within her manicured hands caused paola to look down at her phone. the sudden encounter with her past fling knocked the memory of charlie out of her for a brief moment. sebastian may have pained her, but charlie was someone to be thankful for in a multitude of ways. especially now.

the smile returned to her face as if it never left.

ditto!!

it's been entirely too long

still feel cheated i didn't see you at the showcase

want me to meet you at the cafe?

a soft, audible 'awe' had escaped from her lips as she read his messages. paola had never been more eager to see him before. charlie had lived within all of her day-dreams during summer and it had only heightened when she knew that they were back on campus together. a buzzing sensation was felt in her fingertips as they swiftly made their way back and forth across the screen.

only if i can get you something (:

want a bite to eat or something to drink here?

after sending her last text message to charlie, paola turned around the way she came from and made her way back inside. the comforting scent of brewing coffee and pastries warming in the oven was a grounding that she needed.

"welcome to muse universitea! how can i-," her co-workers voice dropped mid-sentence at paola's return, earning a laugh from sandino.

co-worker: "girl, you're the only person i know who hangs around at their job on their day off."

paola: "i'm actually meeting someone here, fyi. and i'll take a mozz and tomato focaccia while i wait." she added with a smile before grabbing her wallet to pay.

Casper glanced at the bed where a guy was sleeping. He sighs, looks like he needs to kick another one out. He had gone to a party last night, and didn't really drink. He didn't drink a lot. After growing up in a house where alcohol was used as stress relief instead of talking to each other. He didn't care for drinking, but he did care for sex, and that's what he was going to find. Which he did, which brings him to the next problem. He sighed and woke up the guy who smiled at him while Casper stared at him with no emotions.
"Get out."
He tells him as he pulls him up, throws his clothes at him, and pushes him out the door.

"No I won't call you. No, I don't want your number, just go the fuck away."
Casper said coldly as he slammed the door in his face. Casper never sleeps with someone twice, it's just not in his nature to. Plus it means attachments, and he didn't want them ever again. The only attachments he needs are his parents and his sisters. Oh, and his friends, of which he was meeting up with one today.

Derick.

Derick was a new friend. They met, and they both were unsure of each other. Throwing insults at each other, and smirking when they figured out that they were alike. Derick was one of the few that didn't annoy him to great lengths. He quickly gets dressed as he is running late and heads out to the gardens. Once he got there, he looked around at the beauty around him. Plants didn't make him feel calm or anything, but he did appreciate their beauty. As he was looking, he heard someone call out his name. It was Derick. He smirked and walked over to him.

"There you are, kid wonder."
He tells him as he smirked at him

"What's the plan Ric? Books?"
Before he stops talking and points to his ears. 'I know you hate those things, so turn them off. And give me your answer in sign language idiot.' He tells him signing as he notices the wincing that Derick made as someone shouts nearby. He didn't care either way how they spoke. He would adapt to anything, for his friends.

And Kid Wonder was his friend.

Panic panic panic. Panic. PANIC! All that was thrumming through Laurel was the sense of panic. Oh God oh God oh God. She hadn’t missed the angry tone. Of course she hadn’t. The only sense of relief she had in this situation was that Wilhelmina hadn’t seemed to study her sketchbook closely. The design—and the secret of its inspiration—was safe. However, the relief was very much overshadowed by none other than PANIC.

She winced at the string of the other girl’s scowl and harsh words. Her mind went through each comment, mentally rebuffing each one. I’m not that light, or thin. I’m not a model. I also have places to be, we both bumped into each other?? Guilt crashed through her in waves. There was no way she could ever say things like that out loud, even if at least half of them were true in some sense. She couldn’t even stammer out an apology about the bruise—had she really collided that roughly with her? God, she was even more of a mess than usual.

But Laurel didn’t want to be catty anyway. She had been at least mostly at fault and embarrassed herself as she often did here at Muse. That was her real special talent, after all. Was there an Embarrassment Arts department? Maybe she could be the founding member.

Laurel was saved from the pressure of having to respond to such a response by Marisol, her savior. She gave her friend a weak smile, her hands tightening on her sketchbook. “I’m fine,” she just barely whispered, hoping Wilhelmina wouldn’t hear her. It wouldn’t be until Wilhelmina wasn’t around that she would be able to break down and cry about how awful she felt for bumping into the other girl like that, how much of a clumsy ass she was, why did this have to happen to her so soon after the awkward run-in with Cal? Her bad luck really was something to behold. It was like she was a magnet for awful occurrences.

Almost as quickly as the problem arose, it seemed to settle thanks to Mari. Laurel blinked as she gave Wilhelmina her phone back. All was settled, save for Laurel’s heart. She glanced back and forth between the two nervously, not wanting to make it clear that she was taking one side or the other. Although, wasn’t Mari technically on Laurel’s side? This had suddenly become something much bigger, at least in Laurel’s mind. She had to walk away fast before she melted into a heap on the ground.

“U-uh, yeah. S-sure.” In a last-ditch effort to try and get back into—well, not Wilhelmina’s good graces, but at least out of the bad ones—she inclined her head and stammered, “I really am sorry.”

Her head whipped around to Mari, placing her hand on her friend’s back and pushing her further down the path. “Mari!” she hissed. “Don’t make things worse!”

As soon as they were out of earshot, Laurel wilted. “Thank you, Mari. I was worried I was going to die on the spot. I hope she doesn’t hate me for that.” She worried at her bottom lip, her arms dropping from their clenched position by her chest. “Is it too late to drop out?” she groaned, replaying the scene over and over in her mind.

So much for a peaceful afternoon.

Today was off to a miraculous start. Now that something he hadn’t thought could possibly go wrong had gone wrong, the rest of the day was surely going to go fantastic! That was the only possibility!

Even a comic book geek like him knew that wasn’t the fucking case.

It was too early for a drink, and Sebastian didn’t consume much alcohol anyway, but he almost desperately needed something right now. Instead of alcohol, however, he was outside La Pallina, the ice cream parlor on campus. Well, sugar was just as good.

As he was pondering his lack of choices, he heard his name. He angled his head, spotting Stella and Jay not far away. Finally, someone he didn’t mind bumping into. His arm moved of its own accord, about to greet them, when time slowed down.

Seb’s eyebrows leaped up his forehead as Jay, unaware that Stella was stopping, his eyes not facing forward as he full-on crashed into Seb. The second collision of the day, but this was one did not cause a horrible sense of foreboding or panic. Instead, a humongous grin split Seb’s face in half as he laughed, a great rumbling sound that only ever came out around his little brother. Well, how could it not with Jay? This was too cute not to laugh.

“You were that excited to see me, huh, Jay?” Since Jay had already started the process by grabbing his arm, Seb took the moment to wrap his own arms around Jay in a hug. Alfred, his cat—a very well-named cat, if anyone asked Seb—meowed at him, and he tried to tamp down the stupid grin that threatened to break through his amusement. Holding on about a moment too long, Seb set Jay safely on his feet in front of him.

Turning so he could talk to both of his friends at once, he nodded his head toward La Pallina. “I’m guessing you two were getting some ice cream? I was just thinking of getting some myself. But it’s not as fun to get some yourself, am I right?” Was that stupid grin still on his face? If it was, he hoped Stella wouldn’t say anything about it. Whatever feeling was going through him after getting to hug Jay, he wanted to keep to himself for a bit longer.

Obviously, it was just relief at having bumped into someone he was on speaking terms with. Nothing else. Absolutely not.
