Fantasy Murder: The Shadow's Grip

Isaac sighed, he didn't want to be cornered in a house if something went wrong. He wanted the freedom of maneuverability. Then again, he was not willing to abandon Blake. The Space Marine would have no trouble in a pinch --the man was a walking death machine wrapped in extra death machine.
'You going to let her die Isaac? Like Ellie? Like me?' the Nicole's voice clawed at the back of his mind. Wherever he was now, the Marker was still aware of him. He'd be damned though if he proved it right.


"Yeah, I'll stay for a while," he said, letting her push him inside. At least Isaac was on guard, his paranoia at an all time high. He cranked up his aural amplifiers and made sure that he never kept his back in any given direction for too long. Moments later, the very Space Marine he'd been looking for crashed into the domicile. Isaac snapped his Plasma Cutter up and aimed, relieved when he recognized the massive blue armor.


"Oh. Christ, you scared the hell out of me. And yes, I was just explaining that."

"I am sorry for startling you," he said, nodding at his next words. "Good. Atleast I'm not the only one smart enough to see through the decieving hallucinations," he said, smiling slightly, under his helmet. "Have either of you seen any shadows around here?" he asked, peeking out one of the windows, as he made sure his Bolter was loaded, and fully functioning.

Blake gasped and nearly fell down, her towel nearly slipping off her pale body. She promptly got up and fixed the towel around her body, her cheeks red with a slight blush. Of course two men had to be in her house while she was in a towel. They couldn't have timed their arrival any better than this. "This is why I wanted to relax. I'm going to end up like a paranoid soldier like you two if I stayed in the fields without any worthwhile rest," she calmly remarked.


"Please wait for me until I finish cleaning up. Come upstairs if you need help with anything besides a certain relief," she joked. She proceeded to the bathroom to finish up her bath.

"Octavian, make sure everything down here is kosher. I'm gonna go upstairs and make sure everything's good there. If there really is something malicious around, it'll have screwed up somewhere. Or at the very least, we can keep an eye on things and make sure the status quo does not change," Isaac said, getting up and heading upstairs as well.


He'd check all the rooms carefully before posting himself outside the bathroom where Blake was cleaning up.


He knew he was paranoid.


He knew he was probably over the top.


And he knew that was all that kept him alive in the past. Hopefully, he could make it out with some friends this time.

The sphinx's eyes glowed pink, and a pink mist seeped from its mouth, stopping in front of Adain.


"Correct. You have one wish, but do be careful, magic have's it's limits."

"Octavian, make sure everything down here is kosher. I'm gonna go upstairs and make sure everything's good there. If there really is something malicious around, it'll have screwed up somewhere. What looked to be A teenage boy stood at the far end of the room, his eye sockets staring straight at the doorway. Blood trickled down below his eye sockets, and he his small nose was odd compared to his empty, mouth less face.Eyeless jack danced his hand in front of him, and thin black letters fromed next to him,


Who are you? asked the writing, as if he was expecting someone else.

Adain shot his fist in the air. "I want a fox that is like huge and I can ride, but when danger is around it teleports away so it doesn't get hurt," he started about his pet he always wanted, "And we can talk with our minds and it can lick me and I am cured of inebriation of liquor." He sighed hoping it wasn't too much.

Octavian simply nodded, knowing that she had good reason to avoid becoming the kind of person he and Issac were. As she headed up the stairs, he turned, walking around the room, examining everything, top to bottom. He realized Issac just came up with the same idea, and nodded. "Good idea. It shouldn't be possible for the thing that caused this to have done a perfect job."

(Did the fox get the powers? Because a drunk guy shooting is worse than a horde of Shadows)


Adain frowned not getting the fox as large as he wanted but was happy none the less. He played with the fox cooing it and named it Gage.

Isaac stopped when he saw the creature in Blake's room. A cold weight settled into his stomach, but venom surged into hsi veins. This creature was clearly malicious --devious, a hunter.


"I think a better question is what I am," he said, his voice little better than a growl. "I am a survivor of many horrors, both more vile and terrifying than anything anyone has seen. I am a killer, a slayer of some of the deadliest creatures known to the universe. I am a monster, born of atrocity. You picked the wrong house --a monster already lurks here," Isaac said, raising his plasma cutter.


However, instead of using the cutter right away, he raised his off hand and pulsed his stasis module --an engineering tool that placed an object or person into stasis for roughly seven seconds upon use. Odd how often engineering tools work better as weapons.

Octavian stopped, midst staring at a creaky floorboard, before he thought he heard someone growling at something upstairs. Although it was probably just someone stubbing their toe on something, it never hurt to be too sure. He gingerly placed his armored foot onto the first stair, as it groaned, before he started climbing. It made a ton of noise, as his suit was incredibly heavy, but the stairs didn't break. He got to the top, and walked around for a bit, before finding Issac. "Issac, what are you-" he saw the thing in the closet, and raised his bolter, aiming it at the thing's face. "Issac, what in the emperor's name is that?" he asked, confused. Was this the thing the one that caused the hallucinations? Or was it just befitting off them? Either way, it clearly wasn't friendly.

Blake finished her bath, just in time, too, as she heard Isaac say something just outside of her bathroom. She barged out of her bathroom, her eyebrows furrowed. "Were you truing to peep into my room, Isaac?!" she exclaimed. "I know you want to keep me safe, but people need priva-"


Her complaining ceased as soon as she saw both what Octavian and Isaac staring at the monstrosity creepily standing before them. She clutched her towel tightly, taking a step back from it. "K-kill it, please," she said quietly. She wasn't exactly sure why or how, but she felt frozen in fear as she stared at the eyeless monster before her.

Gage licked his face and Adain felt different, he laughed, "It worked," he got up and kissed the sphinx, "Thank you."


He picked Gage up and a feminine voice went through his head, 'Put me down please!" Adain was shocked but sat Gage down. "So two out of three. Hmm let's go see if anyone needs our help." With that the two started to wander around the circle.
