Quite a few spoke about their pasts, and some even let privy their hopes for the future as well. All of which made Ginko smile like a big, dumb, idiot. The stories all could tell were worth all of the time in the world, it was refreshing to see a different side of life than his own.
Timber started them off, as provider of the food- Timber explained of their background and how they got to practice cooking for a group. Though, it seemed that was all they would let them do at the time.
Harn was next, and his was of a world-weary traveler that expected to find the next journey calling, in time. Harn seemed the most experienced by way of how he carried himself. Ginko remembered this upon seeing him first, but even now he impressed Ginko.
Lazarus was next, they weren't so much of a Hunter as it seemed. More of a traveler. Though, the harshness of their home in the north attested to their skills, Ginko surmised. They could fight if the need calls for it.

Lazarus then, asked Ginko something he wasn't expecting at first..

"So. Ginko is it? You're from Pokke Village, what brings you out here to Ban Sali? You look like you've got a good tale to tell."

Ginko blinked, then smiled and gave a hearty chuckle. "Well, I mean..I'm sure it's not as long as some of you here, but it's worth a tell I suppose right? I originally was born in--"

A rampage overturned Ginko's speech, as he heard the crashing sounds outside. His instincts only kicked in when Timber immediately went to grab their weapon. He jumped out of his seat with incredible speed and even cut himself off from talking "Suppose a story's gonna have to wait!"
Information traveled quickly among them all.
A Khezu had found its way into the town.
Ginko sighed in relief at the fact he brought a Hunting Horn into the Bar. Slumping it over his shoulders he nodded to the others while Harn barked orders of utmost importance. Ginko was already planning his next moves to coincide with everyone else. First though, he needed to buff the rest of the team.. "That Khezu is gonna roar, but with this puppy you'll barely hear a thing." He grinned.

Wincing a little as the second shell shot connects and does nothing, Lazarus pretty much gave up on the idea of tripping the khezu over. The veiny, flabby skin over its bones just seemed to absorb the pressure without any actual damage, and it sorta creeped him out. More than the thing already did. He took the time to really look at it as he backed up into the safety of the group, actually using his training to analyse the monster, trying to figure out where he's have the most impact on. It's head. It doesn't have eyes, just fragile rows of leech teeth. An explosive round down the throat would probably be a little more effective than whatever kind of sick immunity to bombs its boney knees have. Gross.
He was actually a little nervous for the safety of the hunters', as silly as he knew the thought to be. Lazarus didn't know these people, how could he be sure that they actually had the experience to take something like this one. Is their bravery stemming from security in their knowledge, or cocky overconfidence? With the heavy charged feeling of static muddying the air, the danger was so so obvious. One of them is going to get hurt by that, no doubt about it.
A flabby fleshbag that can harness electricity and takes bullets without issue. Totally not a big deal. A cakewalk. For sure.

Lazarus' attention was practically ripped from the khezu when he heard Seejay mention "the kill". They were going to kill the poor beast? Why on earth would they do that? It hadn't hurt anyone, it can't see, it obviously wasn't intending on hurting anyone on purpose. Sure it was dangerous to leave a frightened monster free to lash out on the busiest street in the city, but it hardly deserved to lose its life over this.
"Woah now, I know you're all hunters but leaving a corpse in the middle of the city surely can't be a good idea!" He cried out, trying to pass it off as half joke, despite being fully serious about it. "It ain't hurt anything, no one has to die when it can just be sent back to where it came from!"
But was Ginko calling out about using his hunting horn to help block out the khezu's wails, he was half relieved and half worried. On one hand, their ears would be saved from a lifetime of tinnitus, but on the other his pleas would go entirely unheard.
Steeling his core at the thought Laz sucked in a deep breath and, with a few affirmations to himself, returned to the fray, skirting the edge of the stall lined street looking for a good opening to take another shot at the monster's mouth. If he couldn't manage to convince them to release it before it died, then he'd have to convince himself that its death was not his fault so long as the blood was on someone else's hands. He wouldn't be punished for that which was not his fault, right?

Timber only paused to dart back into the hostel to grab their bag to clip into their belt when Harn mentioned a trap. Traps, tranquilizers— all of that was good. They thought it was easier to just kill the thing— but trapping would be neater indeed.

They darted out the door just in time to see the khezu swinging its tail and shrieking in anger as it tried to locate its attackers. Timber was nearly ready to attack it, too, when Lazarus called out about what a mess the corpse would leave— and they supposed he was right. They sprinted over, directly under the khezu to slash at its belly in great, heavy arcs. In the back of their mind something felt very strange about it all— a khezu in town—? How had it gotten past the guards…? Or did it? Did it come through the gate at all?

Timber turned to glance up and down the street briefly, trying to track where exactly the beast had come from— but in the same moment, felt a far-too-familiar tingling sensation as the hair on their arms and the back of their neck rose to stand on end. Almost immediately, they dipped out from under the massive white beast’s belly, shouting at the top of their lungs. “Get clear!

They dove into a roll, just barely plunging out of range as the khezu dropped onto its chest and lit itself up in a dome of electricity. Then they scrambled back to their feet again, lifting their axe. They paused for a moment to catch their breath, then dove in again with a few more slashes— though they never did like fighting these beasts. It was instinct to go for the legs, and it always stung their hands when their blade inevitably bounced off them. When that happened, the monster wheeled around to attack someone else. Timber had avoided the shock, but the tail caught them squarely, sending them tumbling head over heels across the cobblestone.

Doe twirled his glaive around so the back end was aimed towards the monster's head. He steadied his aim, waiting for it to turn or stop its moving so rapidly so the marker would land its mark. However, he hesitated at the mention of 'the kill'. He.. hadn't intended to kill it. It didn't seem sick or injured, just confused. Khezu were blind, it probably didn't even know it was in the middle of a village. He was so used to catching and relocating monsters he nearly forgot that most hunters would rather go for the kill. Doe lowered his weapon slightly, glancing over at Lazarus at the mention of a mess.
"I--uh, y-yeah hes got a point there, it would be safer for the people too if we could just knock it out--" He said. He felt relieved that he wasn't the only one against killing the monster. "Killin' em is riskier--the more it struggles the more likely it'll hurt--"
Doe had to cut himself off as Timber shouted for the group to take cover. He leapt back, narrowly avoiding a nasty shock in the process. Okay. Maybe now wasnt a good time to start rambling. Doe tried to swing his glaive at the monster, but the creatures veiny tail blocked his blow, the glaive bounced off the strange, slimy surface, causing him to stagger back. Though it didnt do damage, the attack was enough to catch the attention of the monster, it turned away from Timber to face him. Doe sucked in a nervous breath. This was way too close for comfort. Now face to... faceless with the wyvern, he tried to attack again, one slash, two slashes then prod with the back end of his glaive which would leave a marker to hone in his Kinsect. Once the marker was placed, Doe would try to roll back and launch his kinsect to collect red essence.

With some quick thinking and heeding Timber's warning, Daisuke used a wirebug to zip out of the range of the electrical attack.
As soon as it was clear, he dropped down onto the khezu, switched to sword mode, and stabbed it along with an elemental discharge. The final blast knocked him away, and having used up his wirebugs earlier, he couldn't prevent his landing in an abandoned market stall.
He picked himself out of the splintered wood, looking up in time to see Doe face to ugly face with the Khezu. He'd be lying if it didn't make him feel highly concerned for his friend.
"Either way we'll need to weaken it enough for the tranqs to knock it out! We can worry about whether or not to kill it after it's knocked out in a trap!" He shouted to the others, rushing to get close enough to deal more damage again.

The others in a broad sense.

Harn was on Timbers heels, flanking the Khezu, he could feel the electricity crackling in the air, raising the hairs on his arm.
He was quick to leap out of the way as the monster swung its tail around, crashing through a market stall. he twirled his glaive around, adjusting it under his arm and aiming for the legs, pulling the trigger proved awkward, he grumbled something under his breath, sending a ball of pheromones right into the upper part of the Khezu’s leg, His kinsect responded and raced straight towards the mark, retrieving white extract and bringing it back, as it swung its tail around again Harn slashed at it, holding his weapon more like a longsword. He was still getting used to fighting like this, he was still light in his movements, graceful and fast as he moved around to Timbers side, sliding to a stop beside them, “Timber, what do you think? Any ideas here?”

A quick scooting dodge out of the way of the Khezu's tail and another round of shells was wracked into Lazarus' gunlance. Before he launched another one at its head, he took a brief moment to check out the street. There was no one but the very final stragglers of shoppers fleeing the market. No one. Where were the guards? Surely the hunters on duty at the gate would have had no trouble warding a monster off, and... why were they the only ones fighting this beast? The hunters in the hostel seemed pretty content to let the group that had sprung to action handle it, would they not have also leapt at the chance to get some zenny and materials?
There was no time to ponder on that, however, as another brutal swing from the Khezu's tail swiped Laz's legs from under him in his distraction, and it was all he could do to fire a shell towards its body as he landed heavily on his arm, the light and heat of the exploding shell stinging his eyes in tandem to the cobbles below. It was stupid to stop paying attention, but the cobbled street provided the perfect traction to push himself away from the monster while he pushed himself back upright, wracking another shell and firing again, damn near missing from how erratically it was moving. Something didn't feel right about the situation.

Timber shook their stunned daze off when Harn spoke, turning to look at him before glancing back down the streets. It sure did seem like it was taking awhile for any guards to arrive — or the local hunter’s guild, for that matter.

And beyond that… the path of the khezu’s destructive stumbling wasn’t from the closest gates at all. It was strange to say the least that it had gotten so far. They looked up again and squinted at the beast, which wheeled around with another furious squeal when Laz hit it with another shell. They were all certainly giving the beast a good wallop, that much was clear. It seemed nervous, swinging back and forth and shrieking at the others.

And, glancing over it, Timber wasn’t convinced it was going to take too much more. “I think if it flies,” they answered, tossing Harn a look, “it’ll seek shelter in the swamps.

They took a breath and took a leap with their wirebug, jumping into the air above the khezu before plunging down on it in an aerial blow. They flipped the axe into a sword and heaved a few slow strikes at the beast’s head almost the same instant they landed near Lazarus. The khezu staggered back and, before Timber was able to jump it again, let out another deafening shriek. Timber yelped and shied back, hunched over against the sound with their head down, right up until they felt the buffet of wind off the monster’s wings.

And, just like that, it took off. Timber lifted their head, watching as it flew over the walls with a frown. It appeared to be favoring one wing, as if it was injured on it. But their attention was drawn back by shouting from down the street.

“It went this way!”
“Did you hear that—? It’s— oh—“

They were still recovering from their disappointment when they turned just in time for two hunters to approach. Both appeared to be local guild members — one in fine armor denoting his obvious status. He was handsome, with well-kept, short dark hair, and a broad, masculine jawline. He looked around at the strangers before him. “Where’d the khezu go? Which way?” He asked. “Did you kill it?”

Doe winced as the creature shrieked, he shielded his face from the winds that the wyvern stirred as it began to take off. He watched it retreat with relief, but refused to let his guard down until he could no longer see it on the horizon. Doe let out the breath he had been holding. Thank Gog it was gone. He hoped no one had been hurt by it. Doe sheathed his weapon and began to look around
"I-Is everyone okay?!" He asked, a worried look etched into his face as he scanned the group for anyone who might be injured. They all seemed fine here but..
Doe looked back down the path the Khezu took to get here. They should check to make sure none of the villagers got hurt in the rampage, it was a market place, someone almost definitely got hurt in the chaos. He didn't have many medical supplies on him, but surely he could do a little something with the few bandages and herbs he had on hand. Doe started walking towards the market,
"W-we should check to make sure--" Doe yelped and hopped back like a startled cat as he nearly ran into one of the hunters, who just arrived on the scene.
"Oh goodness--Im so sorry--uh--" Doe shrunk back, babbling apologies to the hunter as he did. He paused as the hunter demanded to know what happened to the Khezu. He fidgeted uncomfortably under his stare.
"N-no sir, uh, it flew off.." He replied, glancing again in the direction the monster had flown off in. They didnt kill it, but it was gone, and that was what was most important.

Armored Hunter - Sleipnir Sleipnir

Daisuke had just reached the Khezu, about to attack again when it flew off.
"Well, damn." He cursed, watching as it flew away.
He then turned to take stock of damage, both to their surroundings and people. Some new hunters had shown up, which had startled Doe. Daisuke approached then, placing a hand on Doe's shoulder in an attempt to reassure him, while addressing the hunters.
"Yeah, it flew off that way," He gestured in the direction it retreated, "Guess it got overwhelmed with all of us wailing on it."

The hunter glanced between Daisuke and Doe as the two spoke, nodding with a slight, serious frown. He glanced back toward the market square, where booths had been knocked over, and goods of all sorts from jewelry, to fruits, to fabrics were strewn across the cobblestone streets. The Khezu had done more than a little damage, and shoppers and sellers alike had taken to trying to pick up their goods and check on one another.

He looked hesitant at first, like perhaps he wanted to take off after the beast right away and go hunting for it in the swamps beyond the city walls. But he couldn't in good conscience ignore the damage that had been done, especially when a hunter stood in front of him and mentioned that very damage. "Good work," he finally told them, though he sounded a bit begrudging. "We can help move any injured civilians. We came for the Khezu, but it seems that's no longer an issue. Thank you."

Timber cocked their head and watched the hunters for a few moments. Two or three others had run up after the first two, and seemed equally surprised that the Khezu had gone already. After a few more moments, they turned their head back to their switchaxe, where the sword blade rested against the cobblestone, and lifted it to switch it back into axe mode and put it on their back. "Did it land in Ban Sali?" they asked, bewildered.

The leading hunter turned and looked at them, then made a face. "Well..." He trailed off. "...I wasn't around when the trouble started. All I know is that it was in the city, and the guildmasters sent us out here to take it out."

"Either way, a city is not where you could expect to find a khezu."

"No." He shook his head and turned to look back over the walls. "Which means it could still be dangerous. There are smaller villages out there, and even if it doesn't come back here, it could still see folks outside Ban Sali as easy pickings." He turned back to the group then with a frown. "We can get things cleaned up here; it's our city, so it should be our job. If you could rally and track down that khezu, we'd be most obliged. Once you're back, you can come to the guild hall if you'd like -- tell them Kapkeo invited you all. You'll be deserving of good beds and good meals, free of charge."

Ears ringing in the aftermath of the scuffle, Lazarus let out a breath he didn't realise he was holding. He watched as the beast flew off like a strange and flabby bumblebee, he had no idea how those wings were capable of supporting it. Straightening up he neatened out his armour, brushing off the dust that kicked up and trying in vain to get the impacted dirt out of the leathers from his fall in the fight.

Already being on edge with adrenalin coursing through him, two new hunters, with clear status and pride in themselves, weren't a very welcome sight to him. Laz tried his best not to pay them much attention, if only to keep himself calm and unsuspicious looking. He listened in to the brief exchange between the others and the guild hunters and internally heaved a sigh. He didn't feel good about pursuing the injured monster when it had clearly given up the goose and retreated, but he knew it was par for the course with guilds. Never happy until there's a corpse before them.

As much as he liked the idea of returning to make use of the amenities the hunter offered, Laz knew he wouldn't be returning to the city whether or not he ended up playing a part in the khezu's death in the end. He had to keep moving, it had served him better than lingering too long.

At last, as the dust settled and the braver civilians were poking their heads out to see the damage, Lazarus began to relax his now stinging shoulders. With a bit of force, he folded the rickety gunlance back down into a far more easily manageable metal lump and hooked it onto his hip. Handmade weapons weren't exactly the sturdiest things in the world, despite his years of practice in scrimshaw. From how the joints squeaked in protest, he was sure this fight was one of its last. He could only hope it lasted just a little bit longer.

"So. We're tracking the big guy down together as a group? Any objections?" He asked his fellow fighters with a toothy grin, betraying none of his prior apprehensions.
