I have no idea what I'm doing, and it's wonderful.
This is where we will chat. If you have any questions or are just plain lost, please let me know! I want this to be a fun roleplay for everyone!

I'm so happy to hear you're excited! I think you'll be very happy to hear there are a number of Zeon related things to find in this game. I honestly wasn't expecting people to show up this soon, so please bare with me while I set everything up.

Also! If you are confused on anything or see a problem with how I'm setting up this forum please let me know. I want this to be a fun roleplay and don't want it to crash and burn from poor management.

The character application topic is good to go. I'm just going to add one more topic so we can keep track of/define what players receive from their excavations. I'll also probably try to get a map done so people know the area we're working with but I don't want to do that until everything else is settled and good to go.

Wait, you're not the same Crosswire as Gundam Age Quest, are you?
I am actually, though I'm surprised that anyone here has heard of it before. If you liked the Quest I apologize for not continuing it, a lot of things in my life overwhelmed me and my anxiety issues made it difficult to go back to it. Right now I'm still trying to get things in order but found that a play-by-post roleplay would be a good way to get back into the swing of things.

@Crosswire

Well, holy shit, this is the last place I'd expect to run into you. Never participated in the threads but I did follow it on suptg. In that case, I'll have a character sheet up then since I know you're a good quest runner.

I'm happy to hear that! I'm getting my own character up as we speak. If you have any questions just let me know!

So is the excavation business especially in regards to digging for Mobile Suits considered illegal or frowned upon by whatever authority runs Bellbroken?

It's not so much illegal, though it is somewhat frowned upon at least by some. For a while it was considered Taboo to dig/excavate because of the fear of bringing down another calamity. Plenty of people, especially older individuals, still consider it forbidden and probably won't be happy to hear about characters digging to unearth god knows what. However there are also more and more people becoming open to the idea of excavating the machines of the past for profit, knowledge, and personal gain. Bellbroken is run by a Mayor and a small assembly of people, usual electoral system with a bit more power given Bellbroken's independence.

The Mayor and assembly are a mixed bag on their views regarding excavation, so as long as characters don't excavate too close to/in town they probably won't raise too much of a fuss about it. However if crimes start being committed, the town becomes threatened by excavations, or if the more taboo-minded individuals come into power then they may outlaw excavation. The opposite could happen given the right conditions, but you get the idea.

Have you also considered putting up an interest check? New roleplays tend to get dropped back a few pages because of other RPs with one-liner posts so an interest check might help with visibility.

No I haven't, but now that you mention it I think I will. Can you please link me or point me to where I should post an interest check? I'm not entirely familiar with the layout of this site yet.

Fandom Interest Checks section. The more advertisement the better, mecha RPs are a niche but with enough visibility this RP should be able to attract those players.
Excellent. Thank you so much for telling me about that. I've put up an interest check and I'm currently in the midst of writing an introduction post.

I have posted the introduction post! A nice calm one before the inevitable storm of conflict that's bound to arise. If anyone has questions about the lay out or nature of the town, just ask here.

Did you want the character sheets messaged over or posted in the Sign-Up thread for approval? Also, have you considered adding in a Neutral Characters tab for NPC profiles?

I'd like character sheets posted in the Sign-Up thread for approval. As for Neutral Characters tab, I think that'd be a good idea. We'll (hopefully) be sticking to a small, relative location for the time being as the plot builds up. So having some openly known NPCs we can draw from and utilize to keep things from slowing down is a good idea.

There's something charming about UC's engrish opening.

Once the Neutral Characters tab is filled up, it's likely we'll be getting another player.

Not gonna lie, the Engrish makes that song really damn catchy. I'm also happy to hear about getting another player. I'll finish fleshing out the Neutral Character topic as soon as I can and then I'll get a reply to you in the RP itself.

Alright the NPC topic is set up, let me know if there's anything you think I should add/fix in regards to the application itself. Now onto writing a reply!

That's pretty cool, though I feel bad for anyone who has to used a tracked suit unit against an enemy like that. I'll admit though I never have played any of the Armored Core games, I was always a Front Mission kind of guy. I'll try to look into them though.

So I got some questions before I decide to join.

First how long in real world time would it take for PCs to get around to get their bots and stuff involving said bots' acquisition and all that follows.

I ask because this is ostensibly a Gundam game which means the toyetic weapons of war will be a focal point. So you know I want to make sure the selling point will be relevant soon enough.

Secondly I ask because I don't have faith in freeforms lasting too long so if you plan to drag out the finding the robot phase I'm out, because I'm not interested in schlepping around for an extended period to get to the good stuff.

The answer to your first question is that it won't take all that long. If a character goes out and begins excavation it won't take more then a post or two and the passage of in game time for them to find and uncover something. Later in the roleplay it'll take longer to uncover suits, especially if the player is trying to amass an army or the like, but initially I'll cut everyone a break so we can get to a nice interesting start. Bare in mind however that while this is a Gundam forum and the discovery/usage of mobile weapons will be a major aspect of the roleplay, it's not all there is.

Character interaction and development will also be a significant focus of the roleplay, because if I wanted to make a mindless fighting forum were mobile suits pulled each other apart I would have set out to do just that. So if you're looking solely for a combat-focused roleplay and don't want to bother with any character related writing, then this probably isn't the game for you.

I also understand your concerns about freeform roleplays. A lot of people set up open roleplays because they can't be bothered to come up with a strong centralized conflict and don't want the responsibility of managing an actual plot. That's not the case with me. I've set this roleplay up and presented it to be more open so players don't feel as restricted so when the actual plots begins their characters and goals seem more organic opposed to just shoehorned into things.

So no, you don't have to worry about us dicking around for months in real time writing about our characters trying to pull one nasty ass GM out of the dirt.

I've learned my lessons from personal experience, a poorly paced roleplay is guaranteed to die. I just try my best to balance good pacing with good writing, I don't like having to pull crap in-universe just so something can happen then and there.

I wasn't aware that we actually started IC up, so I'm very sorry for my apparent inactivity.

I'll get to work right away!
