Fandom Mobile Suit Gundam: The Uncertain Century - Items

Crosswire

I have no idea what I'm doing, and it's wonderful.
This is where were the specs and condition of what is discovered during excavations will be put up. It's also where I'd like everyone to keep track of what they've found and what condition it's in.

Here is where I'll also explain a few things regarding the mobile suits and technology that can be found in this roleplay.

  • Due to the limited existing technology in the roleplay (1980's level stuff) duplicating the advanced technology found underground will be largely impossible and while reverse engineering/study will be allowed doing so will take a considerable amount of time. That means while players can maintain their units (worrying about fuel and such would be going too in depth) they will be reliant on the parts they find or salvage from other machines in order to repair or modify what they have.
So if your Zeta Gundam get's its decapitated in a fight, you'll ether need to locate a replacement head (and you can't exactly run to the corner store and find one), build one from scratch using salvaged or discovered parts, or take the head of another unit and replace it.
Players are encouraged to work with what they have in order to achieve their goals!
  • Another thing is that there’s a technological difference between a lot of the mobile suits and armors that can be found. I’ll say now that just because a suit is older or less apparently powerful than another doesn’t make it inherently inferior.
Take for example the XXXG-01W Wing Gundam and the MS-06F Zaku II. The Wing Gundam has the advantage in regards to fire power, mobility, and armor, but the Zaku by comparison is significantly less complicated. If something is broken or damaged on the Zaku it can be fixed a number of ways while if something breaks on the Wing Gundam it’ll be a disaster.
That means the Zaku II can be used more brashly while the Wing Gundam has to be used more cautiously lest the pilot get their precious Buster Rifles destroyed. Plus, even technologically superior suits have flaws that can be abused, meaning a Wing Gundam can be brought down by a supposedly ‘inferior’ Zaku.
Old or new, all mobile suits, ships, and discovered weapons pose a threat, and players shouldn’t simply dismiss one another based purely on specs alone.

EXCAVATED ITEM/UNITS FOUND at Bellbroken Dig Site:

  • RMS-156 Griffin
  • AMS-119S Geara Doga Kai
  • GF13-050NSW Nobel Gundam
  • Sonic Sword
  • Rocket Booster

Items/Weapons:

Sonic Sword: The sonic sword is a folding sword-like weapon that incorporates a high-frequency oscillating blade. The vibrations of the oscillating blade greatly increase the weapon's cutting capabilities.

Rocket Booster: A large single use array of rockets fueled by propellant intended to be attached to a small to medium sized space vessel in order to get it to orbit. It's powerful, but fragile and could be easily damaged or outright destroyed if hit with any decent weapon.

Mobile Suits

Name/Model Number: AMS-119S Geara Doga Kai

latest

Height: 20.8 Meters

Weight: 50.8 Metric Tons

Power Source: Minovsky Ultra Compact Fusion Reactor (One strong enough to allow the use of beam weapons.)

Armor: Gundarium ? (Stronger and lighter then titanium Gundarium ? provides excellent protection against ballistic weapons and moderate protection against beam weapons)

Cockpit Location/Type: One seat panoramic monitor/linear seat cockpit in torso

latest

Fixed Armaments

Right Spiked Pauldron Attachment: Fixed to the right shoulder pauldron is an armor plate with spikes on it. If used in a shoulder tackle these spikes can do increased damage to a target.

Current Handheld Armaments

None

Equipment

Commander Sensor and Communication Suite: The Geara Doga is equipped with an array of visual sensors and communication equipment with a larger range then that of the average mobile suit. It's not on par with a reconnaissance machine, but it's certainly an improvement over what's usually to be had.

Shield: Fixed to the left forearm of the Geara Doga is a shield with a top half that can be flipped up or down to make the shield larger or smaller. The shield is fairly small and while strong against ballistic weapons it's fragile against beam weapons and explosives. Meaning while it can save the unit from being damaged by a lethal beam or bazooka shot, it's unlikely the shield would survive.

Moderate Output Thruster/Vierners: The Geara Doga has rocket thrusters that allow it to make assisted leaps under gravity and give it a solid speed in space. It also has maneuver vierners, allowing to to adjust itself when free of gravity giving it excellent mobility.

Technical Background: The Geara Doga Kai is a mobile suit made long ago by a group known as "Neo Zeon" who existed in an era known as the "Universal Century". The Geara Doga Kai was intended as a command unit, an upgraded version of the regular Geara Doga which was intended for normal troops. While good in terms of performance and easy to distinguish form it's older Zaku brothers, it's a somewhat generic unit without anything significant to make it stand out. Despite that it's sturdy and reliable with better defenses then normal mass production models found.

Advantages:

  • The Geara Doga Kai can use most beam weapons save for ones with very high energy demands and has no issues wielding physical or ballistic weapons.
  • The Geara Doga Kai can operate under gravity and in the vacuum of space, not needing any significant adjustments to switch between the two.
  • Being a commander unit the Geara Doga has stronger sensors and communication equipment, giving it an edge in detecting enemies and staying in touch with comrades.

Disadvantages:

  • The Geara Doga Kai lacks any real fixed armaments, making it very easy to disarm.
  • Most of it's communication and sensory equipment is in the head, and while it's reinforced, damage to the head is that much more severe when it does occur.
  • Due to being run off a Minovsky-type reactor the Geara Doga Kai can produce 'minvosky particles' that severely hinder things like radio communication, radar, and even short out un-shielded electronics in large quantities. This reactor, if struck directly with a beam-type weapon, will explode violently in a blast equivalent to a miniature nuclear weapon.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

Name/Model Number: RMS-156 Griffin

latest

Height: 17.5 Meters

Weight: 60.1 Metric Tons

Power Source: Minovsky Ultra Compact Fusion Reactor (One strong enough to allow the use of beam weapons.)

Armor: Gundarium ? (Stronger and lighter then titanium Gundarium ? provides excellent protection against ballistic weapons and moderate protection against beam weapons)

Cockpit Location/Type: One seat eject-able panoramic monitor/linear seat cockpit in torso

latest

Fixed Armaments

Spiked Shoulders: The spikes on the Griffin's shoulders are razor sharp and if used in a tackle or a bash, could punch through or rend armor.

Current Handheld Armaments

None

Equipment

Dual-Sensor Optics: The Griffin is equipped with a set of dual eyed optics reminiscent of the legendary 'Gundam' Type mobile suits. This setup allows for excellent visual range, depth perception, and better protected main sensors then mono-eye or face plate type sensors.

Moderate Output Thruster/Vierners: The Griffin can be used on Earth or in space and is equipped with thrusters and verniers. On Earth the thrusters can be used in assisted jumps and brief spurts of flight while in space the thrusters coupled with the verniers give the suit solid speed and maneuverability.

Ejectable Cockpit: The cockpit in the Griffin's chest is actually an independent part of the suit itself, a sphere that can launch out of the suit when the pilot's life is in mortal danger.

Technical Background: The RMS-156 Griffin is a modified version of the Marasai mobile suit used by the Titans an organization who were sworn enemies of Neo Zeon and another group called AEUG during the "Grips Conflict" of the Universal Century. The Griffin is believed to have been created because the Marasai proved to be lacking against the newer machines their enemies were facing.

So the Titans took the Marasai and streamlined it's design, replaced it's shoulder shield with a spiked shoulder pauldron, reinforcing parts of it's frame and body, and giving it a Gundam like face. The result was a simpler but easier to repair and maintain unit whose performance was somewhat above the original Marasai.

Griffins are rather are, but easy to maintain suits that are compatible with a lot of the parts and weapons of other mobile suits once made and used by the Titans.

Advantages:

  • The Griffin is a safe and reliable unit, easy to repair, easy to modify, and equipped with an electable cockpit that can be launched manually or automatically to save the pilot's life.

Disadvantages:

  • Lacking any fixed weapons outside it's spiked shoulders, the Griffin is at a disadvantage without some kind of weapon.

-----------------------------------------------------------

Name/Model Number: GF13-050NSW Nobel Gundam (Also called Noble Gundam)

latest

Height: 16.2 Meters

Weight: 12.6 Metric Tons

Power Source: Ultracompact Fusion Reactor (Strong enough to allow the use of Beam Weapons)

Armor: Gundarium/Rare Metal Hybrid armor with super ceramic composite (A very light, very durable type of armor that provides stellar protection against bean and ballistic weapons alike)

Cockpit Location/Type: pilot only, in 360 degree cockpit using Mobile Trace System

Fixed Armaments

60mm Vulcans x2: Built into the head of the Noble Gundam are a pair of multi-barreled 60mm vulcan cannons link-fired and triggered by the pilot's brainwaves. They're rapid fire weapons that can tear through lightly armored enemies, but are useless against most mobile suits due to the 60mm rounds poor penetration.

Current Handheld Armaments

None

Equipment

Mobile Trace System: This is the control system used in all mobile fighters from the "Future Century". Upon entering the mobile fighter's cockpit, the pilot is wrapped in a form-fitting "fighting suit" made up of microscopic nanomachines that eat through their existing clothes. This fighting suit monitors the pilot's motions and physical condition and relays this data to the mobile fighter's computer, which then mirrors the pilot's own movements. The surrounding environment is projected onto the walls of the "virtual cockpit," and external conditions like physical obstructions and battle damage are transmitted back to the pilot via the fighting suit. The result is that the pilot operates the mobile fighter exactly as if it were his or her own body.

While the mobile trace system allows one to use a mobile suit as if it were there own body, it's a physically demanding system that can easily exhaust the unfit and improperly trained.

BERSERKER System: The Noble Gundam is equipped with an externalized version of the "Berserker System". When activated the Berserker system overclocks the Noble Gundam's systems and induces an artificial state of blind rage in the pilot through the fighting suit's manipulation of body and brain chemistry.

This combination results in the Noble Gundam's combat capabilities jumping to 120% with the pilot attacking their enemies without fear, hesitation, mercy, or thought of their own well being. While powerful the system is extremely dangerous and can have detrimental effects on the pilot's mental and physical health with multiple uses.

The Berserker System installed on this Noble Gundam is internal and triggers when the pilot enters a state of extreme duress during combat.

High Output Thruster System: The 'hair' and 'ribbon' on the Noble Gundam's chest and back actually house thrusters and verniers that allow the Gundam to make large assisted leaps and dashes while under gravity and fly and maneuver at high speeds while in space.

Technical Background: The Noble Gundam is a mobile suit or rather "Mobile Fighter" built by the nation of Neo-Sweedan during the Future Century. Like the Gundams of the past the Noble is a powerful, advanced, and dangerous machine. Yet unlike those of it's name sake it was designed for more civilized fighting opposed to open warfare.

It was designed mainly for unarmed or close quarters combat as if intended for use by a fighter or martial artist opposed to a disciplined soldier. Disturbingly though the Noble Gundam was equipped with a system that brought out it's pilot's latent fighting abilities, one that could turn even a sweet hearted girl into a screaming murderer.

Never the less the Noble Gundam is believed by some to have helped save the world from a devilish monster, though the details have been lost and many doubt the idea.

Advantages:

  • The Noble Gundam is incredibly fast and light, capable of reproducing the pilot's movements perfectly making it extremely dangerous in close quarters combat.
  • Despite it's lithe appearance the Noble Gundam is very well protected and has armor that can take significant punishment, especially against melee attacks.

Disadvantages:

  • Being a Gundam, and an advanced one at that, means the Noble Gundam is difficult to repair and modify.
  • The Mobile Trace system means the Noble Gundam's fighting capability are linked to the pilot's physical fighting capabilities. Long battles can exhaust the pilot faster then traditional controls.
  • The Berserker System, while devastating to enemies, poses a threat to everyone. When under the effects of the system the pilot can easily turn on allies and harm loved ones without realizing it. Abuse of the system can royally fuck with the pilot's body and mind. The fact this system is automatic also makes it unpredictable and if it were to be damaged it could cause the pilot to go completely out of control.
