Welcome to MIDGARD: Of Gods and Men Character Factory, where you'll create your own Norse warriors to brave the gauntlet of challenges standing between you and godhood. Here are some helpful pointers before you get started.

HELPFUL POINTERS
1.) You may create up to three characters.
2.) Depending on your character's race, certain members of the traveling party will react to your presence with distrust, fear, or anger. Just be aware of that.
3.) Even in a world full of runic magic and strange creatures, logic still applies. I can't stress this enough.

With those out of the way, let's get into the character sheet.

You may notice that there's no history section on the character sheet. That's so you can flesh your character's history out more in the game proper. After all, it's more fun to drip-feed bits and pieces of a character's backstory than just dumping it all at once.

Name: Ankara
Aliases: Ferocious of the North, Man-killer, Slayer of Evils, Fright of Jotunn, Annie

Race: Aesir-Human Halfbreed
Divine Parentage: Child of Móði, supposedly
Appearance: Standing at a remarkable 21 hands (seven feet) tall, this behemoth of muscle and power looms over men and dwarves with a fierce stance. Legend tells of her arms the width of tree trunks, her thighs twice as wide, but the Prose Edda claims that she instead "had no more the girth of Thor, but in no way less". It goes on to describe her hair as "a flame of brightest red taken from the bifrost", forming a violent plume atop her already intimidating silhouette. Her face does not share in the purported gentleness and beauty of the Aesir godesses, instead scars and scrapes stretched over powerful and convex features, her face always in a murderous grin.
Role: Ankara is a lone woman living in the woods far to the north, always trying to go on great heroic adventures and usually succeeding only in being an all around murderhobo.
Personality: Ankara is incredibly self-centered and egotistical, with her only goal to bring glory to her name. She has a moral compass that points only in the direction that she believes will achieve her goals. She's not evil, but definitely not good. But morals do not apply to her: she is child of Móði, heir to Thor, a being of infinite power.
Magic: Ankara has no capacity for magic.
Weapons: Ankara carries a powerful Dwarven bow she stole from some great king, a ludicrously sized ax, and a comical warhammer decorated with nothing more than a hastily engraved "George".
Equipment: Ankara carries nothing more than weapons and a cloak she claims made from the skin of the greatest beast to walk Midgard. All other trinkets are useless.
Other: She swears she is the child of Móði, but has no evidence to back this up, nor any apparent godly powers, until you wind up with a George-shaped hole in your chest.

Name: Alveria Sovwyn

Aliases: None (She isn't famous)

Gender: Female

Age: 128

Race: Elf


Divine Parentage: N/A

Appearance: Alveria is a white elf. Her hair is shoulder-length, and her eyes are blue. Despite her age, she has the appearance of being in her mid-twenties in human years. Her white skin is usually hidden under her hooded cloak. She is short, coming only as 5'2". Under her cloak, she wears normal lady-like clothes and short trousers.

Role: To those who know who she is, she is a healer. Using her vast knowledge of runic magic and the forest cures, she can cure potentially any disease.

She gathers all her ingredients herself, including hunting Demon Boars and plenty of other rare specimens.

Personality: She suffers from dual personality. The switch takes place precisely every fortnight, and the second personality lasts for two days

The normal Alveria is quiet. She only talks on two occasions: When casting spells, and when something important needs to be said. She is child-like in demeanor, but will always stay back unless directly interacted to. She is kind and gentle and will always be happy to help.

The second Alveria takes pleasure in destruction. She loses her kind nature, replacing it with a dangerously sadistic streak. She does still know friend from foe, but she only takes into account if they will die in her line of fire. If they will not, she is not afraid to go trigger-happy.


Magic: She specializes in "Inscribed" runic magic. She uses it in both offense and defense.

Offense: She often uses the Thurisaz to enhance physical prowess, Ehwaz rune stones as fire projectiles, etc..

Defense: She can heal using Berkanaz, Othello, etc...


Weapons: Yew Staff and Bow.

Equipment: Various poisons and antidotes, hooded cloak, rune stones.



Other: She is unlikely to interact with others right off the bat, and is hard to persuade.

Arvo shares in the beauty most elves are gifted upon birth. His face is round, with a button nose and wide blue eyes. Freckles pepper his cheeks. He stutters when he speaks, and sometimes bites his lips in frustration, leaving little cuts. On Arvo’s back, the pale skin in marred with crisscrossing scars and a single burn. The burn has long since scarred into a distinct shape. He stands at 5’5”, although when looking at his lineage, most of his family intrudes on 6ft. It has been rumored that he once took advantage of his delicate appearance to dress as a woman in order to seduce a man into giving him information.

Role: A small-time jeweller who trades his goods regularly.

Personality: Arvo is on the more humble side of the spectrum, but he often does seek validation from others. He’s the type who gets anxious when things are too quiet and calm, assuming that it’s the eye of the storm where things are about to get much worse. Arvo appears to most as a follower, and for the most part, they’re right; he’s a nervous, tiny, self-doubting elf who desperately searches for somebody to trust and hold on to. He’s all too aware of his own cowardice and he is trying to overcome the fear so deeply embedded in him as child. Arvo has a soft spot for children and children only, seeing them as little siblings. He tries to encourage those around him and is generous with compliments. If you’re looking for a loyal, If not polite, friend, Arvo is your best bet.

Magic: Arvo can talk to and befriend birds as a more passive ability. For offense, but also practical use, Arvo can make balls of light that exude heat. He can also focus the light to make something similar to the modern day laser, as well as simple weapons/tools (sickles, knives, arrows).
Weapons: While his magic provides small close quarter weapons, Arvo also carries a light one-handed swords and a long-bow. His arrows are provided via magic, where they can be shot, hit the target, dissolved and reused.

Equipment: A long, green, hooded cloak with inside pockets. 3 pouches to carry money, valuable stones, and bird feed. A lantern with birds painted on its metal.

Other: Avian creatures have a tendency to follow him.

Role: Animal pelt hunter
Personality: Many years of working alone in the wilderness have deteriorated Ulrich's social skills. As a result, his first impressions tend to paint him as an awkward, bumbling, slightly clingy individual. He tends to be a bit of a control freak (which he calls "being detail-oriented"), and has trouble fighting anything larger or more dangerous than a bear, due to spending so much time chasing after animals and not monsters. However, his lack of meaningful human contact feeds into a desire to keep his fellow travelers safe from harm, so that he can continue to enjoy their company a little longer, and his knowledge of much of Midgard's forests ensures that the party will seldom get lost.
Beavers are Ulrich's favorite animals. To hunt, that is.
Magic: The magic runes tattooed on Ulrich's body allow him to use various Passive Magic abilities. Some of these include night vision, finely-tuned hearing, and the ability to silence his footsteps.
Weapons: Witherbrand, a double-headed battleaxe; Shard, a long dagger; two skinning knives
Equipment: Flint and steel; three lengths of match; a pipe and tobacco; a snare trap; two steeljaw traps
Other: There are rumors going around that Ulrich is actually a Halfbreed, and that he earned his title of Beaversbane by hunting Fraebjor, the Great Beaver. These rumors are, as of yet, unsubstantiated.

Role: Thorne is a master thief as well as charmer to most of the ladies. Also he is acts a mercenary to anyone with coin and offering an interesting job.
Personality: Thorne is a man interested in two things, money and women. Like his father, Thorne has a silver tongue and knows how to use it. And he uses it well to earn coin, talk his way out of bad scenarios, and to charm those he find pretty or have something he wants. Beside his greedy and lust he does have a bit of kindness deep, deep down in heart and those who prove to be good allies can count on him. Also Thorne is scared that is parentage will be revealed and he'll be less able trick people when they know he comes from the god tricksters.
Magic: Thorne uses magic to increase his speed, silence his foot steps and actions, and illusionary magic
Weapons: He uses knifes that he keeps all over him to throw or to stab. He also uses a light weight yet sturdy sword (in the picture) as well.
Equipment: Lock picks, poisons, many hidden pockets, a good amounts coin he keep hidden, and a cloak to hide in.
Other: He keeps his parentage hidden.
 
Name: Þorgrímr Ástríðarson (Thorgrim Estridsson)

Aliases: Gullintannason (Golden Tooth's Son), Inn Blindi (The Blind One)

Gender: Male

Age: 45 years old

Race: Halfbreed

Divine Parentage: Son of Heimdall, son of the human Ástríðr.

Appearance: Þorgrímr has incredibly pale skin and sports braided jet black hair with the sides shaved down. He's rarely seen without a matching beard and would most likely kill anyone who'd attempt to shave it. His eyes are a pale milky white, as he is completely blind, and his teeth unnaturally straight and white. He stands at 6'3 (1.09 m) and weighs roughly 180 lbs (81.6 kg).

Role: Þorgrímr has lived most of his life as a mercenary in order to earn coin and satiate his appetite for adrenaline inducing violence.

Personality: Þorgrímr is a very open and direct individual, he has no issues talking the ear off anyone who'll listen, although not many do. His demeanor is often described as brash, impulsive, inappropriate, and apathetic. He rarely voices concerns of danger and often sprints head first into any he encounters, but despite this impulsiveness, he's no moron. He clearly understands when he's in over his head and will remove himself from conflict in the event that such is the case. Concerning companions or friends, he's made very few, and even fewer whose names he still remembers. If one were to gain his complete trust, however, one would find that Þogrímr makes an incredibly loyal friend.

Magic: Þorgrímr makes no use of real magic, however, his parentage has bestowed upon him some magical traits and minor abilities. In contrast to his lack of sight, his other senses are greatly enhanced (albeit nowhere near the level of Heimdall), allowing him to function more or less like anyone else, with the added benefit of greater environmental awareness . He is also capable of producing light from his hands, although never bright enough to be used offensively and, of course, he gains no benefit from it in the slightest. Finally, he requires less sleep than humans, and can usually go 2-3 days before beginning to tire, although his stamina is still within the realm of normal humans.

Weapons: He's adept at and fond of dual-wielding hand axes. Years of combat have honed his ability to parry and maneuver around his opponents with no small amount of skill.

Equipment: Aside from his armor, he typically has a rucksack on his person, and always wears a blindfold under his mask.

Role: She hunts the undead, the honor-less, and all others that will be claimed by her mother but most importantly she hunts her father.
Personality: Asur is focused on her mission and seeks to bring all those undeserving as Valhalla to her mother's realm. Still no one is all work even if they enjoy it and when not tracking down someone Asur is a rather friendly individual who enjoys a good time with strong drink and a loud song. She is the kind to stick to her moral and her honor only bending or going against them when the other party is already dis guarded either. When on the hunt Asur is ruthless and relentless she will track and harry her target for hours or even days if they last that long never letting them rest all so she can send them where they belong.
Magic: She mainly uses death magic and necromancy, and while weaker than her mothers she is more than able to raise a select dead to aid her. She knows some enhancement to supplement her speed but it is not that great and she has been taught the art of rune casting to divine the location of her quarry.
Weapons: A dwarf forged and enchanted halberd

Equipment: some knives, a set of runes, a special rune stone to find those she hunts, and quite often a skull or two.
other: Asur's father is completely unknown he seemed to have been a soul in Hel who managed to seduce and bed Hel then vanish but this should be impossible. This along with the fact that none could recall the name not even Hel nor any who had seen this man adds more confusion to this oddity.
 
Name: Ragna Newolf

Aliases: "The Gold-Eyed Hunter"

Gender: Female

Age: 27

Race: Human

Appearance: Standing at a solid 5'7 and barely weighing a thing, Ragna is slim and light. She is no frail maiden, however: her body and skin are tainted with old scratches, faded marks, and past injuries. The most prominent of these are three scratch scars that run down the side of her face. Her snow-white hair is a prominent trait among her family, along with her eyes that shine golden in the dark. Not the largest, buffest, swiftest, nor tallest: but she has enough of each of these qualities to hold her ground.

Role: A Hunter, well-known for her magic and high-risk jobs.

Personality: Ragna, some could say, raised herself. And such a childhood has led to an incredibly self-reliant, if slightly unorthodox lifestyle. She has a stubborn attitude about the way she goes about her business; even if gets her into trouble sometimes, she will do whatever she deems the righteous path. Though her brazen attitude might lead some to believe Ragna is the most confident of the confident, she suffers her own bout of self-doubt. She longs for guidance in nomadic, random lifestyle she lives, but denies it to even herself.

Magic: While she knows no active magic, she has one notable magic that defines her image: the Golden Eyes. Automatically, they will turn amber at night or in the dark, giving her the advantage of seeing in the said dark easily. It is the Newolf's most defining family trait.

Weapons: Ragna wields but one weapon, but it has served her well over the years. A silver longsword, nearly perfectly balanced and fatally sharp.

Equipment: She doesn't carry much. She holds two small pouches for food and gold (both of which she likes to have full.)

Other: The last of the Newolf clan. She has big plans to raise them back into power. Somehow, someday, she will accomplish her goal.

Due to poor status at birth, Halsten stands at a modest 5' 6".

Role:
Ranger, Navigator.

Personality:
Solemn and cool-headed, Halsten bears a demeanor of someone who has seen everything there is to see; all though he hasnt nearly seen even most of what the world has to offer, this attitude beyond his years almost certainly comes from his propensity to travel and adventure, and to see novel things. He has experienced a great many things that have gone far to teach him the ways of the world, and has drawn from the wisdom of people from the farthest corners of Midgard. Though he speaks in moderation, he always seems to have something relevant to say when he does, whether it be an old proverb from a distant land or an anecdote as a cautionary tale. Though he does not choose to impose on anyone, he is more than happy to advise those who ask him for help, and rarely turns down a request for assistance.

Magic:
Halsten uses no magic of any form.

Weapons:
Weapon of Choice -- The War Bow

An intimidating beast of a bow, this seven foot behemoth has a staggering draw weight of 200 lbs, making it so that you have to virtually be trained from your toddler years just to draw the string effectively, which, fortunately, he was. In the hands of a well trained archer, this bow is more than capable of piercing armor, and, while it can be shot much, much farther, Halsten is reliably accurate with it within 75 yards. The most distant target he has ever hit with it was at 168.5 yards. It is also deathly silent, with the most you'll ever hear of it being a twang of the string and the rush of the arrow through the air.

Close Range Weapon: The Boar Spear

Another exceptionally large weapon, this spear is designed to apply as much force as possible while staying as far away from the target as you can, a fighting strategy intended for, as the name suggests, boars and other large mammals. The blade alone is a foot and a half long, and the weapon essentially amounts to a very long, sharp dagger on a pole. It faces the same strengths pitfalls as any pole weapon does; it's devastating to mounted or charging enemies, but little else, as it's heavy and slow to swing, and little can be done in terms of self defense once an enemy is in arm's reach of you.

Equipment:
Halsten prefers to pack light and live off of the land. He only has the clothes on his behind, and a pouch with a few foreign currencies.

Other:
His body bears many scars from previous encounters with wild animals, and the occasional fight.​

Divine Parentage: Daughter of Loki and a human female.


Appearance: Astrid, like most other "godly" beings, was blessed with divine beauty as well.
Large, sparkling emerald eyes lie just directly under her long, interestingly cherry blossom colored hair. Peeking out right above her straight-across bangs, sits two crimson horns. Crafted from human bone, they are more of a fear tactic, although they look very real.
She only stands at about 5'3".

Role: Thief


Personality: A rather cold-hearted individual, Astrid doesn't make friends easily. Her frigid personality isn't one many people like to aquatint themselves with. Being the daughter of the God of Mischief and Evil himself, she doesn't take lightly to it. She knows her place and uses it to her advantage whenever possible.


Magic: Astrid is more of a physical fighter, but does have a few abilities.
Able to move silence her footsteps and movements
Creation of weak force fields
Capable of shape-shifting, but has yet to master it


Weapons: Astrid carries an assortment of knives of various shapes and sizes. What is a thief without their weapon of choice?


Equipment: Astrid usually only carries her current read and a single apple


Other: Astrid really only has one friend, whom she loves with her entire "heart."​

Appearance: Ellie not only has a beautiful mind, but a beautiful face as well; Majestic and absolutely gorgeous.
Soft, pale features bring out her burning blue eyes, with matching white hair that falls delicately down to her waist.

Role: Mage (Healer)


Personality: Eleonora is the best friend of Astrid. Their clashing personalities make them perfect for one another.
Ellie is positive and sweet. Her caring nature meshes well with her healing capabilities. She is rather quiet, but loves people and making friends. Her favorite thing to do is laugh. Though, she does have a bit of a sarcastic side she picked up on from Astrid.


Magic: Healing of non-fatal wounds and creation of weak force fields


Weapons: A large staff


Equipment: Ellie carries her spellbook and a few healing herbs

Role: Nothing set besides bringing joy to children

Personality: She is a quiet and peaceful soul. She wanders about and tells stories to children of any age. She is kind to all and never acts out of violence or hate unless provoked or her 'character' demands it.

Magic: Azlyn uses Passive magic to change her outfit to that of a character in one of her stories.

Weapons: A small dagger at her hip

Equipment: Usually a basket filled with flowers or treats

Other: She doesn't know where her stories come from but they are vivid and detailed. Her favorite of the stories is the one of a girl dressed in red who meets a wolf on her way to her grandmother's house.​

Role: Shield maiden / Mercenary
Personality: Solveig's personality is an odd mix of feminine and masculine traits. She likes to groom herself and obtain fancy jewellery as much as the next girl and she can - occasionally - be quite charming, since she has learnt it can get her places. However, when a man seems to be too pushy, or grabby, she has no problem to break his arm with zero warning. She has a competitive nature and in her free time, she can often be seen playing games for money, engaging in various races and combat competition or trying to outdrink the best of them (which she usually succeeds at). She can swear like a sailor, tell dirty jokes and display all other sorts of unladylike manner. Generally, she makes the impression of a no-nonsense person you don't want to mess with. That is, once you get over the "pretty girl" cliché prejudice - which is usually pretty fast.
Magic: A superbly skilled warrior, Solveig disposes of surprising strength for her subtle body, which often enables her to throw an opponent twice her size across the room with a single swing of a blunt force weapon. She also displays unusual endurance in battle, high resistance to injuries, as her flesh and bones are denser than a human's, and heals about three times faster than a human. Sometimes, when she turns into a full-on berserker mode amidst a battle, it starts to rain.
Weapons: Solveig is skilled and trained in using many weapons, but she prefers (you guessed it) a war hammer. However, she also carries with her a throwing axe and a handful of daggers hidden on different places.
Equipment: A war hammer, throwing axe, some daggers, a flask of mead, a change of clothes and jewellery, some gold and silver, a hooded coat, rope, dried meat and berries.
Other: Solveig is proud of her divine heritage, but she does not share this bit of information with just anyone, especially now that multiple partys are searching for Thor's hammer. She believes herself to be uniquely suited and deserving to win the competition and realizes others might want to dispose of her on grounds of envy. Upon hearing of the challenge, she has made it her purpose in life to replace her father in Asgard.
