After a short while, Asaya got out of bed and decided to get to work on a new mask. At this point, he hasnt gone to a single one of his classes yet. He put his mask back up to his face, and let out a small yelp."sorry." He said, farmore quietly than he had ever spoken before. He lifted his bag of masks up, and walked towards the workshop in school

The sister gretted their mother as they walked into the home. "Bidh Kat, Ivy a 'falbh còmhla ri Jim agus faigh na rudan agad a-steach do na seann sheòmraichean agad ... ach chan eil dinnear dawdle cha mhòr deiseil ... " (Kat, Ivy dears go on with Jim and get your things settle into your old rooms.... but don't dawdle dinner is almost ready...). Kathleen and Vivienne went upstairs to take the luggage with Jim while Michelle stayed down stairs with her grandmother. "Tha sinn a 'faighinn smùid agus ùr-sgeul ... bidh e foirfe airson na h-oidhche ceòthach agus fuar seo ... carson nach toigh leat dhomh am bòrd a stèidheachadh agus faodaidh tu innse dhomh mar a bha mi a' dol san sgoil?" (We are having stew and freshbread...it will be perfect for this foggy and cold night...why don't you helo me set up the table and you can tell me how been going in the school?) she asked.

Elle just smiled as she nodded" yes Ma'am" she say in Scottish she just set up the table as she was happy to be here she was enjoying her time with her grandmother" Is toigh leam do chòcaireachd sgoil Nana math tha mi a 'dèanamh dà charaidean ùra tha na h-ainmean aca mar Marina agus Lance tha iad nan deagh charaidean bidh iad gam dhìon bho mheadhon burraidhean. Bidh mi a' dèanamh seallaidhean tàlantach. Bha mi a 'smaoineachadh air a bhith a' seinn na tha thu a 'smaoineachadh a bha Nana" ( I love your cooking Nana school is good i made 2 new friends their names are Marina and Lance they are good friends they protect me from mean bullies i gonna do a talent show i was thinking about singing what you think Nana) she says to her nana as she smiled setting the table for her as she just liked helping AquaMarie AquaMarie

He nodded. "Then it is settled. I think we should start working on a plan to destroy the masks. But first I want to wait and see if it happens again. While I hate to let one more person endure that suffering, I think it may be necessary just to make sure we are correct on this. Like you said, it is probably going to break Asaya." He nodded towards the girls before speaking to Mika. "Congratulations on the adoption Mika. You feeling any better?" He sat on the floor, his knees out in front of him, forming a triangle with the floor. He was no longer exhausted, for the energy came back fast, but today has been a pretty hectic day.

"Honeybee, the first of many things you're going to learn about me as your mother, I don't go back on my word!" Miss Molly squealed and waddled her way over to a nearby chair, patting the seat excitedly. She should have been working, but eh, the library was empty anyway. She ran her hands through Mika's hair and softly sung a song Lance knew all too well. He remembered the first time he heard it, it was the first time he'd ever been motivated to go to speech therapy: he wanted to learn to sing it himself though he never actually went. She started singing it to him to lull him to sleep after his nightmares, and to generally calm him down when he had first come to live with her, love and affection completely foreign to him. It had been his favorite song, until the first time he'd heard Akira say his name. He wondered if he could use the text to speech on his phone to talk to Akira, or maybe if Lance was direct about it he could send a small recording of just his name. Would that be too weird? That would be weird. Maybe he could get Akira to do it when he got back... he blushed a bit at the thought, as thinking about Akira calling his name reminded him of the night they had spent together. He shook the memory out of his head, he was being talked to. He needed to answer.

Lance took a minute to process his words before pressing his lips together in slight distaste. Did he really think it a good idea to put someone else in harm's way? What if it hurt them the way it did Mika, or was worse? Lance would have taken it on himself, but he had already put the mask on earlier and had his confirmation. If he needed confirmation, he should do it himself. "He's given me two so far. You're welcome to put either one of them on yourself, but if we're going to do this we're not going to let an innocent person with no idea of what could happen do this. It hurt Mika, but who knows what kind of effect it could have on someone unsuspecting? It's too risky to get other people involved, we need to keep this to as few people as possible so that if it goes wrong, the least amount of people get hurt."

"I'll do it. I'll put on the mask... I probably have the highest resistance to demons here. Plus I am not going to sit back and let someone else take the brunt of I can help it. The problem is, I feel like I would also be the best to fight Asaya and take off the first mask. I don't know... After seeing what Mika went through, your right, we shouldn't let anyone else be affected by the masks." He grimaced at the thought of it. If Mika had a hard time with the mask, then there was no telling what it could do to someone even weaker than her. It had to be him or Lance, and the other would have to be the one to fight him. "I think we have enough evidence against the masks... Screw another test to make sure, let's just go ahead and destroy them all. No way anyone else is getting hurt." The teen was worried, more so than he had been in a long while. He summoned his sword, as the sheathe appeared in his hand, and the sword inside of that. He strapped it on his back. " I need to know what you can do... So I can formulate the best strategy to take him down. Or at least take the masks down. "

"I can handle myself pretty well in a fist fight, but I'm out on magic. I work with light, but that's about it. I can direct it to temporarily or permanently blind someone, make shields and weapons, and create illusions. I'm supposed to be working on a few things, but I'm not that far yet..." Lance was startled a bit by the sudden appearance of the sword. Who was this guy, a skinny Thor? Lance had an idea. They don't know each other, or what they can do. Sparring was an excellent way to get to understand someone. Besides, Lance thought it would be a good way to plan how to fight him, if need be, while Jayce was still willing to stop when things got too far. "I have a better idea. There's sparring grounds out by the lake. We'd get a better idea not only each other's abilities, but of our fighting styles as well. I think it would be important if we do end up having to fight something." Miss Morgan gave him a glare for picking a fight, but softened her expression quickly, knowing the circumstances. She ran her fingers through Mika's here. "Oh go play hero you two, we'll be right here! We'll be just fine without you, have us a little girl time while you're out saving whoever it is that needs help this time." Her complaint was mostly directed at Lance, as he had a habit of running off and going out of his way (and out of the building during work when he wasn't supposed to) to help people, but could tell that Jayce was similar in character. Perhaps that was what had bothered Lance about him so much, she thought to herself. Lance flushed slightly, knowing his intentions weren't entirely pure.

Mia just looked at her new mother" yeah let us have a girl time no boys allowed plus I still have a headache from the scary masks" she says" but I'm okay" she says as she leaned on Ms. Morgan as she bite her lip not sure what to call her now she wasn't sure" what can i call you I'm trying to think" she says as she looked at her new mother she just laughed" my birthday is on Christmas" she said happily as she was chilling with her new mother as she looked around as she felt her hair getting brushed SmallSailboat SmallSailboat

Jayce grinned slightly. "Are you familiar with a sword? It is my preferred fighting style, for it's quick effectiveness. If you are unfamiliar, you should learn. It would complement your abilities if properly used. First blind your opponent and then the rest is easy from there... Depending on who your fighting." He grinned slightly. "You know... Your the first person to willingly fight me since I was a little kid." This person obviously hadn't spent as much time as he had on learning to spar. The other's interests seemed to go elsewhere, whereas Jayce oftentimes couldn't get his mind to go anywhere but there. He waved the other out the door "After you."

Asaya was deep in his work, carving a new mask. He hoped this one would be good enough go perhaps ch ge the opinions of the others more towards his side. This mask had to be perfect, no exceptions. He was planning on spending the rest of hos day in that workshop, even when classes were taking place in there. He wasn't about to let it happen again, he thought as he worked, he didn't have much else to go to. This place was his last chance, and that thought repeated itself in his mind.

"I prefer hand to hand combat, but I can make weapons if I concentrate the light enough. Powers or no powers?" He asked. His second statement left a lot of questions for Lance. The most important one though, did that mean Jayce often got into fights with people who weren't willing to fight? He gathered from his reaction earlier that he protected people. The wheels in Lance's head started slowly turning as he tried to figure out the man walking beside him. Was he the type to take revenge? Lance's nose scrunched in disgust. He didn't like people like that. Lance understood that he was showing a bit of his own hand in asking for this, but decided it was worth it to know what he was up against with him. "I prefer not to fight blind people. Usually I just fight to the point of incapacitating someone, then let it be from there. I prefer not to use violence if I don't have to, but I'd be lying if I said fighting wasn't good stress relief-" Lance hissed in pain as he went to stand. For a moment he had actually forgotten his leg was broken, his crutches leaned on the chair behind him, out of view. He wrote to Jayce, slightly embarrassed. "Perhaps this should wait until my leg is healed. I don't think it's a good idea to take those things on by yourself."

Miss Morgan was humming happily as she played with Mika's hair, being cautious of Mika's new cochlear implant. "Oh you can call me Cassandra, sweetie! I've always tried to get Lance to call me that but he's so stubborn! Insists that it's disrespectful to call someone older than him by their first name! Can you believe it?! I'm not that old! It's more disrespectful for him to say such a thing than it is to call me by my first name! He used to call me Mama a year or so after he first got here, I had to put an end to that very quickly! Can't have people calling me that, I would never live it down!" she exclaimed. "Oh, come! Let's show you the apartment! There's plenty of room love, Lance took all of his things with him since he's planning on getting a place of his own after high school, so you can just have his old room! Or, as a matter of fact, I can give you my old room and move into Lance's! I had to give him the master bedroom when he moved in because I knew he was an Au Ra the moment I met him, and I've seen how big they get! Oh, this is so exciting! I'll have to do some moving around, but you have a space in the dorms at school anyway, yes? Lance~! I'm adding that to the 'to do' list and I expect you to be there once you're all healed up to help me! These stubby old legs can't do all that moving themselves, you know!" Lance sighed at the impending work, but nodded in affirmation. Of course he'd be there. He'd never said no to her before, there was no reason to now.

"Sometimes you have to set aside guilt during a fight with someone. If it is then it you, it'll be them. Maybe it's just because the last time I incapacitated an opponent, they took a split second to decide they would risk throwing their knife at me." He pulled the neck of his shirt down past his shoulder slightly to reveal a scar about 3 inches in length from where the knife had hit him. "That particular person stole a blind girls walking stick, and proceeded to beat her to the ground, and then make her hand over everything she had. By the time I arrived, he was already gone, and she was in the floor, no one daring to help her because the guys lackeys were still around. I was the only one to dare bring her to the nurses office. The only one! That's how bad he had everyone scared." The teen took a deep breath and continued. "That night I arrived on the street where they I knew the guy hung out with friends. That night was the night that I made sure he wouldn't touch anyone in a harmful manner again. I challenged him to a fair fight, in fact I gave him the very knife he threw at me. I didn't even arm myself, I simply fought him with my fists, figuring in the end, the pain would last longer. Once I had gotten him on the ground, and felt that he would never touch someone like that again, I walked away. I turned my back on that opponent, and you know what he did? He threw the knife at me. And do you know what I did?" The teen choked away his tears as he spoke. They were a blend of anger, of satisfaction, and of sorrow. "I broke both of his arms, and I feel no regret. You wanna know why? Not because the poor bloke got what he deserved, not because I enjoyed it, but because the guy never touched anyone again. And that poor blind girl, she, she got a chance to be left alone. That's why I do the things that I do. Not for the revenge, and not for the stress relief that comes with a good fight. Good the people that are saved by it. For those that get to have a better life, because they can finally live like a normal human being. Not some bag of trash on the side of the road that everyone takes pleasure in beating." He sighed. " I just thought you should know... Just in case things get ugly at some point, and I feel the need to harm someone to make sure others aren't harmed in the future."

Lance was slightly shocked, confused as to why Jayce had gotten so emotional with him. Lance listened to his story quietly, nodding in understanding of the contents before contemplating the message. Lance wouldn't have challenged the bad man to a fight, and Lance didn't believe him when he said he didn't enjoy it. The grin on his face earlier, having a sword on hand, and his quick reach to violence told him otherwise. He respected the mans desire to defend the weak, but Lance didn't believe in instilling fear in others. Perhaps Lance was too idealistic in his beliefs, but he couldn't bring himself to condone Jayce's actions. He didn't need to break that man's arms. He should've checked the man for weapons, truly incapacitated him before leaving him be. 'the pain would last longer'? He went in to cause this man pain, not to protect people. He understood that his words had come off the wrong way, and thought to apologize for a moment. Lance didn't fight people, despite his trainer's constant insistence that he fight competitively. Lance only 'fought' with training dummies and punching bags, and sometimes his trainer, but never went to strike at someone. He'd never broken someone's bone, bruised their bodies. He'd never struck at someone with the intent to hurt them. Except for Darron, but he regretted that, and apologized to him for it. Lance knew that was wrong, he knew he shouldn't have done that. Jayce seemed to believe he was right to do what he did. He didn't feel it was his right to decide who was good and who was evil. Sure, the man sounded evil in Jayce's story, but Jayce said he was already gone by time he had gotten there. Jayce went through the effort of researching, of hunting this man down. Lance wouldn't have hesitated to defend her either, but could he really agree with what Jayce had done in response? He couldn't set aside his guilt, it was what made him human. It was what separated him from being the monster people thought he was. Jayce wouldn't understand that, he looked human. He didn't understand what it was like for people to expect the bad man's behavior from him based only on what he looked like. He didn't understand what it was like to be treated like a monster, by humans and human-faced monsters alike. Fighting people didn't make him a monster, hurting people didn't make him a monster. Humans naturally hurt each other all the time, intentionally and unintentionally. It was when they no longer regretted it that they became monsters. That was what had bothered him about Jayce. Lance could sense it on him. He used his strength in a way that felt morally wrong to Lance. He beat people whom he thought deserved it, and as far as Lance was concerned, that made him no better than a bully, wearing the mask of a hero.

Jayce's feelings resonated with him, he just thought that his sense of justice was misguided. Lance had almost pitied him, but felt it would be disrespectful. He was partly relieved that Jayce wasn't going to harm any of his friends or Akira, as he couldn't imagine any of them hurting someone (again, except for Darron, but if Darron was doing it, it was most likely to someone whom Jayce thought deserved it) but if he caught Jayce hurting someone else, Lance would have no choice but to stop him. Lance couldn't let him do that. He respected Jayce, but couldn't bring himself to agree with him, so he wrote: "I understand. I don't agree with what you do, but I understand."

As Asaya was creating his newest mask, he becaming increasingly infuriated. Why can't people understand how amazing his creations could be? Why were they all always so terrified of it? Lance had seemed to like them before, but now he was unsure about that. Maybe if they were to wear his masks for a short time, they would all understand. It seemed to have worked before, and it may work again. Asaya felt sad, remembering his old home, and tried to focus more on his current task. He had to make this one special, and near perfect, if they were to consider accepting him. It was at about this time during Jayce and Lance's conversation that a scream could be heard from afar, seemingly coming from the direction of the workshop. SmallSailboat SmallSailboat TeslaRolePlays TeslaRolePlays Texangamer Texangamer

Jayce looked at him. "Sometimes I wonder if I am the monster. Maybe this belief that it takes eliminating the few to save the many is a false notion, maybe I am a hypocrite for bullying the bully. But I don't see how one can torture someone lesser than them for fun. It relieves stress, a good fight, it truly does. But there comes a time when you have to decide whether that fight benefits anyone but yourself, because if one fights for himself, and only for himself, then he is a monster. Sparing matches against an friend are one thing, but fighting someone without a purpose is just insane. My purpose is for the safety of others. Eliminate the few to save the many. If one brings harm to others, and does it for his own pleasure, then he is nothing but a monster. Maybe I am one, for I have no regrets. But maybe I do... Sometimes for a moment I wonder what it would have been like if I didn't handle the situation how I did. But the look on that girls face the day I took her to the nurses office was so pitiful. What had she done to deserve such actions? Was it because she was weak? Was that her reason for becoming a target? Because she couldn't see to fight back? Because she was an easy target? How could someone harm the innocent like that? What's a blind girl going to do? She struggles enough to live a halfway normal life? Why add stress by causing trouble? The ones who target the innocent for pleasure are sickening to me. I enjoy a good fight, but only ones that are agreed upon, or the ones that are necessary to save the many. " Deep down inside, he knew there were ways that he could have handled these situations better, but the slight chance that he would have to watch people like that blind girl suffer once more was all he needed for justification. The friendship he had gained from that day had been a great one. But he never told that friendly girl how he had gotten the bully to stop. And may be that was because he knew he went to far.

He hopped up slightly to the sound of a scream, and glanced at Lance with both a curious and fearful look in his eyes. "Lead the way."
SmallSailboat SmallSailboat

Lance furrowed his brows, confused. What, was mind reading on his list of abilities now? Or was he just rambling at this point? He understood his disgust for people who hurt the innocent, Lance felt the same. Lance couldn't agree with letting his emotions decide whether he would hurt someone. He held himself to a higher threshold than that. Perhaps it was because Lance was 7 feet tall and capable of lifting 300 pounds. With his training as an added factor, a single hit from Lance could be lethal to someone. Lance could hurt people on accident if he squeezed too hard. He got the feeling that he had to be more careful with his strength than Jayce did. Lance was surprised to hear him call himself a hypocrite, then give an exact example of being a hypocrite. As far as Lance could tell, Jayce was doing it for himself. The pride that came with doing the right thing, the gratification that came with saving someone, to relieve himself of the pity he felt towards the girl. Had she asked him to take revenge for her? No, he never even told her what he did for her. He knew that it isn't what the girl would have wanted. Good, innocent people would never have wanted him to do that. No, she didn't deserve what happened to her. Innocent people don't deserve to be hurt, but hurting bad people, in his experience, had never changed anyone. People didn't change unless they wanted to, and fear wasn't a good motivator. All it did was move their actions away from the outside, to a basement covered in a small boy's own excrements and blood, the boy chained to the wall with all life out of his eyes, with blankly staring at the door, his only way out, for 12 years, if you could even call it staring, as he had never truly seen the door until an angel came to save him. He shook the memory vigorously out of his head. Now wasn't the time to think about that. This was why Lance supported the idea of teaching Michelle to defend herself, and was even willing (although he'd never run it himself, that would require a lot of presenting that Lance did not want to do under any circumstances) to help teach a self defense class. So those who couldn't defend themselves could, and only use it if someone attacked them first.

Lance had reached to respond to him, but also heard the scream, where his head whipped towards. 573 yards southwest... the woodworking shop? Who would... Asaya! He nodded to Jayce, then got his crutches and wrote to the girls before leaving. "Off to go play hero, we'll be back later."

Maki just looked at her as she just smiled" yeah my friend Danny is still there I feel bad for leaving but auntie and uncle had me go on a weekend to see them but it turned out bad since car crash and I can't say your name right can I call you Cass or Cassie it's a long name to pronounce your name" she told her" why do all boys always have to play hero" she say as she giggled as she looked at her brother leaving" by big bro" she says as she just smiled looking at she got scared of the scream she just jumped a little bit she just looked around where it comes from as her head was hurting" ow oh no I don't want to take your room I like to take Lance room" she told her smiling SmallSailboat SmallSailboat

Jayce followed Lance, making sure to keep his ramblings to himself. All it had taken was Lance being polite and staying that he didn't agree with him for him to look at himself and hate himself the way he did in this moment. Lance had accidentally uncovered his deepest darkest thoughts. His mind was racing faster than he thought possible. His whole life had been for nothing? Lance hadn't said much.... But somehow.... Jayce knew what he was thinking. And maybe it was because part of Jayce thought about it every day to. Was he really justified in the things he did? He had the right intentions, but maybe he didn't apply them correctly. Maybe he would try a different method on Asaya today, one of logic and reasoning. If that wouldn't work than maybe he would revert back to his old ways. But if it did work... Maybe it was time to try something new. A new approach seemed like it may be the best thing.

As the two approached the room, another student ran past them, seemingly in a panicked state. Looking into the room, they could see masks floating in the air behind Asaya as he seemed to be focusing on working on another mask. Shortly after they arrived though, a loud cracking noise was heard and a blue light flashed from every mask as they suddenly fell to the floor. Asaya stood, turning to face them. The woodshop floor was now littered with masks, and Asaya's bag was nearly empty. He tilted his head slightly, looking between the two. "Ah, hello friends! I did not see you come in!" His voice contained some excitement.

"Hello Asaya! I wanted to try one of your masks on. They look great. Would you mind letting me choose one?" He picked a couple off the ground, seemingly interested in them. " do you have any suggestions as to which would look nice?"

Miss Morgan had watched the boys leave, concerned for the scream but if anyone could handle it, it was her darling knight Lancelot. She brightened at Mika's words, "Oh Cassie is nice! It sounds so young and hip! Do kids still say that these days? I can never keep track! You can call me Cassie if you want, my little cutie pie!" She shrugged her shoulders and sighed. "I don't know honey, it's better than them going out to play villains, in any case." She shook her finger at her, mostly teasingly. "Oh no you don't! I got cheated out of the master bedroom the first time, I'm not letting it happen again! Come, come! I have much to show you! No child of mine is going to be unacquainted with my beautiful library! What kind of books do you like? Lancelot usually sticks to the world literature section or the classic works, but I get the feeling you're more of a mystery or romance girl, am I right?"

Lance blushed slightly before waving goodbye to her. Between her and Michelle, he was going to have to get used to being called 'big brother'. Lance actually liked it, as it gave him something small and innocent to protect. Lance promised himself he'd protect them both before he went down the hallway. Lance froze when they entered the doorway, the tension in his body briefly showing it before he went to hide it with a smile, not letting any of his caution show in him. What happened to not trying the masks on? Lance decided to roll with it for now. Maybe Jayce had a plan and expected Lance to play along. From what he said, he had experience in dealing with demons before, perhaps he knew something Lance didn't. He weaved to Asaya, "Hello Asaya, it's good to see you! I see you're working on a new mask. How do you plan to make it look?"

Asaya excitedly grabbed a mask from his bag, and handed it to Jayce. "yes, friend! you may try this one! I feel you would enjoy it!" This specific mask seemed interestingly decorated, as though it came straight from a comic book. It was not one of Asaya's traditional masks that was simply placed in front of the face, but one that would go over one's head like a helmet or ski mask. It was colorfully decorated, and seemed to be meant to bring attention to the eyes, as they were highlighted with black around them. this mask was blue, with jagged white lines going across it. "It is not my best mask, but it is great!" Asaya sounded happy now. Perhaps, he thought, they actually liked the masks? He turned to face Lance. "Ah, I am making a mask for the sleepy friend! I feel it may make her feel better!" He was getting louder as his excitement grew. He was almost jumping with joy at this point.

He took one more mask from Asaya, a total of 3 in his hands now. The masks in Jayce's hands blew up while he was admiring them. "I am so sorry! Sometimes I can't control my abilities all that well." He seemed apologetic as he knelt down and cleaned up the pieces of the masks, trying to hand them to Asaya, his face in a twisted frown. " I shouldn't touch these.... I am not good enough for them. "

She waddled along happily, stout figured as she was. She practically bounced at the mention of her interests, and already started dragging her towards the YA section, figuring those would be perfect books for her, and no mature content that a girl her age shouldn't be reading! "You should be able to find plenty of what you like in here! Oh no no no, honey! I'm only willing to let Lance help because he can carry the big books and stacks that I can't. I'm already in hot water for having him, with him being underage and all, I can't have you both! That's just spoiling me! Besides, if I have two people running the library, what would I do? I'd be bored out of my mind! We can't have that, that simply won't do! No dearie, you don't have to worry about that! Lancelot and I have that perfectly covered! I think perhaps you should focus on making up with your friend instead. You don't have proof that she hates you, you only think she does. Besides, if you think you've done something to make her hate you, it would be best if you cleared it up with her rather than run away from her, don't you think? You might even find that she never hated you in the first place and you'll both have a good, long laugh about it! Let me tell you, there was this one girl I knew in college..." It was rather amazing how long Miss Morgan could talk without taking a breath. She continued to regale Mika with stories of her youth for as long as Mika was willing to let her, which proved to be longer than Lance usually let her. All he usually had to do was give her a look and she'd instantly know she had gone off on a tangent and get back on track. Miss Morgan may have been his guardian, but Lance had become more of the parent in their time together.

Lance knelt down and smiled at him, putting his crutches to the side. He patted Asaya's head gently, his hand at a good position to pull the mask off his face. "That's good, Asaya. I'm sure she'll love it." As he pulled his hand away, his fingers caught the edge of his mask and Lance pulled with all of his strength, the memory of the mask he had put on still fresh in his mind in how much resistance it gave him. He weaved a shield around himself and Jayce as he patted the small man's head, his finger movements indistinguishable from the usual ones used to weave his words into the air.
