Mass Effect: C-Sec Character registry process

In this RP, everyone is a member of the Kithoi Ward Special Crimes Unit, headed by Captain Ferrox. You are all part of the same team, recently formed, and your characters may or may not know each other already. Some may be veterans of the service, others recently transferred to the wards after their obligatory two years in the Presidium.

Please follow the character registration process as laid out below

Name:

Species: Limited to human, asari, turian, salarian, possibly others if the justification is there

Gender:

Age:

Appearance: Written description

Image: If appropriate

Class: Choose from:

  • Enforcement: Uniformed officers who patrol the Citadel, dispense discipline for minor infractions, resolve disputes, and respond to emergencies.
  • Investigation: Detectives who gather evidence, solve crimes, and bring their perpetrators to justice.
  • Network: Technicians who deal with "cybercrimes", such as identity theft, copyright theft, hacking, viral attacks, and illegal AI. This divisions is also called the C-Sec's E-Crimes division.
  • Special Response: Officers who deal with hostage situations, bombs, and heavily armed criminals. In the event the Citadel is attacked, they are the front line of interior defense, armed with military-grade weaponry.
  • Patrol: The ships crewed by the Patrol division serve "coast guard" functions, such as search and rescue, piracy suppression, and interdiction of illegally transported materials. They are not used to defend the Citadel from naval attack; that task is left to the Citadel Fleet.

Personality: Overview

Backstory: A bit about your character - like how did they join C-Sec, their life before etc

Name: Marus Ferrox

Species: Turian

Gender: Male

Age: 45

Appearance: 6'6 tall, reddish-orange skin with a silver carapace, green eyes, blue Palaven tattoos on his face

Image: Pending

Class: Captain of the Special Crimes Unit

Personality: Following the loss of his father during conflict with the Alliance during the liberation of Shanxi, Ferrox is dismissive of humanity to say the least - though in the years following the resolution of the conflict, he has become grudgingly respectful of their tenacity. He is a policeman through and through, who knows the depths of Kithoi Ward as well as the next, and the dangers they hide. Even so, he loves working on the Citadel, for all his perceived embitterment. Ferrox is a man haunted by his failures, his personal life non-existent. All he has is his work... and he's damned good at it.

Backstory - placeholder, will expand when I have more time!: Born on Palaven and entered into military service at the age of 15, like all turians, Ferrox knows all too well the value of discipline, and its price. He served with distinction during his time in the military, and was eagerly accepted into the ranks of the 26th Armiger Legion.

Years of dutiful service followed, working alongside the feared hastatim battalions to quell uprisings in turian space. Clearly, for some, the memories of the Unification Wars were not enough to make them toe the line. Palaven needed to remind these isolated dissidents of their allegiance... and Ferrox excelled. He rooted out insurgents, dueled their ringleader to the death, and oversaw the pacification of more than one wayward settlement. High command was impressed. He was young then, and idealistic.

Before long, the Council turned its eyes to him, and he soon found himself under evaluation to join the ranks of the Spectres. However, he was too eager to please his superiors, and during an investigation into a slave ring on Taetrus, killed several civilians by mistake, letting his lead grow cold. Disappointed and infuriated with himself, he resigned his military commission, and, with the recommendation of the Turian Councillor at the time, joined the ranks of C-Sec as Special Response.

As the years passed by, he grew tired of such bloody work, and, after single-handedly tracking and locating a rogue drell bodyguard, was offered a chance to become an investigator. Ferrox accepted, and slowly made a name for himself, rising out of his previous shame to become a force to be reckoned with in C-Sec.

Name: Sidious Verilus

Species: Turian

Gender: Male

Age: 27

Appearance: Average appearance for a Turian, red family paint/scars.

Image:
turian_oc___aegis_by_stevegoad-d4f6jmm.jpg

Class:

  • Investigation: Detectives who gather evidence, solve crimes, and bring their perpetrators to justice.

Personality: Sidious is known for his calm and collected manor, always keeping a cool head when under pressure. He is however known to forget those he cares for when doing his job; this can become a major issue as he is blinded by Justice which he sees as the only answer to someone’s crimes. Having a moral compass can also effect his decision making, as he believes heavily in the concept of innocent until proven guilty however even justice can be corrupted. Sidious is also afraid of failure, having failed to save his father, the murder was never brought to justice but Sidious demands for the case to be reopened.

Backstory: Sidious never thought he would make it into C-sec but eventually in life he knew that he wanted to protect his family and the innocent, he first thought that he would study law, to become a lawyer but eventually a change of course happened and he believed he would work hard to become an investigator. Eventually Sidious slowly began to rise through the ranks, during a case however his father was assassinated and the only thing known is that his father was warned before he went into the court room not to defend his client. Sidious hopes to one day for the case to be reopened as he believes the assassin/murderer is still at large.

Name: Indaiu Doninus (first name Asari, last name Turian)

Species: Asari

Gender: lol

Age: 122

Appearance: Indaiu is extremely tall among her peers (considering there's less physical variation among non-human species, this isn't saying much) and she has a more substantial frame with wider shoulders. She's very muscular and lean, consequently, her bust isn't as developed as most other Asari. Indaiu has extremely pale skin with a purplish hue. She also has no facial markings. All in all, she has a relatively odd appearance.

Image:

mirala_2_by_nkarlie-d5dzrl6.jpg
Class: Investigation

Personality: Indaiu is kind of a rough character. She is rude and unaccommodating, but has a strict moral code and feels she has a personal responsibility to justice. In some ways she's the perfect C-Sec officer: she gets results and always brings criminals to justice, but also strictly adheres to the rules and regulations set by the institution. However, Indaiu challenges too many social norms to actually be the perfect C-Sec officer. She often bumps heads with the Asari republic's officials, and she's adopted many Turrian beliefs and practices, even adopting their traditional belief of spirits that embody a group or a place. On a personal basis, Indaiu is gruff and discourteous, unless she's speaking to a superior officer, in which case she's gruff but respectful.

Backstory: Indaiu's mother was an Asari commando, her father was a Turian Cabal comander (a Kabalim, if you wanna get nerdy). The Cabals are elite biotic turian units that not only specialize in biotics, but also small arms, explosives, infiltration tactics, and piloting. Her parents met during a special conference-like meeting between the two branches of the individual militaries with the goal to strengthen both militaries. The Asari taught the Turians to improve their biotics and the Turians taught the Asari to improve their technical skills and gave them tips on organization and discipline. They both raised Indaiu together until her father died. Indaiu respected and loved both of her parents a lot and an even amount, but just related more with the Turians ideas her father taught her. She proved to be a very powerful biotic growing up, so her mother urged her to join the Asari military, but Indaiu chose C-Sec instead. She really would have loved to join the Turian military, but they didn't accept half Turian half Asari into the military because technically, genetically, they were Asari. So she figured C-Sec would be the next best thing, and that it was a good middle ground between her mother's side and her father's. Much to her extreme joy, Indaiu was not only sponsored to join C-Sec by the Asari councilor, but also by the Turian councilor. The Turian councilor said it was because he knew her father personally and knew that any child of his would make an exceptional officer. Indaiu was honored by such a compliment. Since then, she's excelled in C-Sec, and many people believe she's in line for a promotion

Name: Joshua Caine

Species: Human

Gender: Male

Age: 26

Appearance: 6'1 / 185 lbs. / Mesomorphic build / short black hair / striking green eyes / various scars around body

Image: to be added at a later date

Class: I chose two since obviously there isn't going to be a high level threat every five seconds. So when he isn't apart of their special tasks unit he's just a patrol officer.

  • Special Response: Officers who deal with hostage situations, bombs, and heavily armed criminals. In the event the Citadel is attacked, they are the front line of interior defense, armed with military-grade weaponry.

Personality: calm, intelligent, blunt, empathetic, blunt, honest.

Backstory: Caine grew up in the streets of Boston on Earth. An orphan he learned at a young age about how to hustle and make a living on the streets wih a gang that he joined at the age of 15. Before that he was a trouble maker at school as he always got into fights or was causing mischief. His teachers knew he was a very bright and productive student when he wanted to be but were never able to reach through to him despite repeated attempts. Late at night Caine would watch the sky and dream about traveling the Galaxy. He got his chance when he turned 18 and decided to make something out of himself as he enlisted in the alliance military. Well....that and it was either that or go to prison for some charges he had 'aquired'. He spent 5 years with the alliance and saw much combat against the Geth. At the end of his enlistment he had the choice of reenlisting or going off on his own. He chose the latter as he had seen the Galaxy as a soldier but wanted to see it as himself and found himself in the terminus systems as a gun for hire or bounty hunter. His time on the streets and military training helped him develop a small network of contacts in the underworld and steadily worked for about a year. Growing tired of always cleaning up messes such as capturing bounties Caine decided he wanted to stop the messes from even happening in the first place. His past experience made him very qualified for any law enforcement position and decided to join CSec and did his two years in the presidium. Caines style of policing was one that empathized on officer discretion and gave breaks to very minor offenses as he felt there's no point in locking up everyone you see. It's not effective police work and makes the public not trust you. Plus, he knows what its like to hustle and have to do the daily grind to just make it by, which allows him to make a personal connection with the people which gained him a positive reputation and a fair amount of trust that helped add more people to his circle of contacts. At the end of his two years Caine was transferred to CSecs newly formed special tasks unit where he still serves today.

@DJGomez - hey, thanks for showing interest! However, you can only be one class - just because there aren't any major crimes going on that needs Special Response action, doesn't mean that you don't need to train in the downtime etc, much like in police forces today. Also, not sure how a prior history of criminal activity would fly well with C-Sec - unless it was covered up...

I'll edit it for just one then. As for the criminal thing, it's pretty much covered up since it all happened In his youth and as an orphan he really had no paper trail and lived off the grid. Until the one charge he got that landed him I. The military but it was nothing more then breaking and entering. If you're concerned he's like a serial killer that's not the case, and he's left that life behind when he enlisted and wants to make good on the bad he's done in his youth.

Not really, I'm not a massive fan of the whole prosthetic thing - in the Mass Effect universe, there are very very few individuals with cybernetics, and it's important to note that in many respects medical technology has superseded them - why use cybernetics when you can regrow the affected tissues and transplant them?

Name: Blair Adesso

Species: Human

Gender: Male

Age: 23

Appearance: Stands at 5'9'' and looks younger than he actually is. Blair has bright blue eyes and a pale complexion. The man's black hair could be called a 'crow's nest' and it almost like he doesn't know what a comb is. Even when he's on standby he keeps the bottom half of his face covered with a mask. Unfortunately, that doesn't conceal the almost constant shit-eating grin he wears when he's acting particularly smug.

Image: TBD

Class: Special Response

Personality: Blair's a bit of a card, often telling stupid jokes or being informal with his superiors and coworkers while he's on standby. He detests paperwork, to the point where he'll refuse to take credit for impressive actions just to avoid being the one responsible for filing a report. It's probably a result of his own youth and the fact that he managed to get on C-Sec at a young age. Despite this laid-back and inappropriate behavior, Blair has proven time and time again to be a serious and talented officer. As Special Response, he strives to make sure that everyone comes out of the situation alive and follows all protocols while out in the field - a total 180 from what you'd expect after seeing him lounging around the office.

Backstory: Blair hails from one of the small colonies on Arvuna out in the Terminus System. As a teenager, he helped thwart a pirate invasion - as unlikely as that sounds. Although this apparent act made him a minor celebrity in the Attican Traverse it wasn't the main reason for his appointment to C-Sec. It did, however, help him get to the Citadel. Rather, after a brief term at C-Sec Academy, Blair showed high aptitudes in resolving hostage situations and siege breaking and eventually managed to receive a sponsorship from the human Councillor. At 18, Blair was brought on as a rookie on probation and spent the next three years patrolling the presidium. After the probational period, Blair underwent the specialized training for Special Response and more or less fell off the radar because of he constantly gave credit to more experienced officers to avoid filing the reports.

The problem with the lore, is that its lacking as thus - open to developement.

As I haven taken an understanding; C-Sec is like a semi-SWAT organization. You need to be good or considered by your 'diplomat' to the Council to get elected there. One among a billion.

So you have to be either very good or connected. (Garrus was a 'regular' cop yet expert sniper)

My drell you disliked - and my cyber-girl you disliked too; despite the fact that a cybered up soldier could be a better foe than a regular human one.

Its hard to imagine someone being mid-way between badass and regular; without ending as another Shepard.
