Marauders in Mirstone

Arlen Hakhassi

Arlen watched the Mohawk lady march down the street. He still didn’t know her name. And she seemed to insist on not using his. The silver-haired teenager rolled his eyes. She wasn’t very sociable.“Fine,” he muttered under his breath. “Guess we’ll just stick with Boy and Mohawk Lady”.

She reminded him of Sukkan. The old geezer still called him boy as well. Then again, given his age, everyone in the village had been a child to his fighting instructor. He wondered how old the Mohawk lady was. She didn’t look much older than him and her height did nothing to help her in that aspect.

Arlen ran his hand through his hair, letting out a huff of annoyance as he did so. She had a point though. Given that both Arlen and Nerissa had incurred a bounty, courtesy of the marines, drawing attention to himself like he did wasn’t the best thing he could have done. But what was surviving without pride? Arlen was the Leviathan—the strongest warrior on Mirage Island. The emblem of his homeland’s strength.

He would not shame his people by acting like a coward. There was also the matter of Nerissa. He hadn’t been able to find information about her whereabouts. One piece. A meeting of pirates. Some sort of thief. That was all Arlen was able to gather before he’d been rudely interrupted by imbecilic attempts at extortion. Green eyes trailed after the small Mohawk lady for a moment before Arlen nodded to himself. A crew to sail the oceans with sounded like a good idea. He’d been thinking about it—how Priestess Nerissa would need a group of trusty people if she intended to find One Piece. And, even though they’d just met, Arlen decided he could trust the Mohawk Lady. She insisted she didn’t care, yet it was twice she tried to help him…three times if one counted her proposal.

Perhaps it was because he was used to seeing fakers—people who used to hate him pretending to be his friend after he became Mirage Island’s Leviathan—but, despite her unsociability, there was something genuine about her. He was about to follow the Mohawk Lady, to learn more about the Captain she contracted with, which ship he was on, etc when he felt a hand on his shoulder.

“Right then. Arlen, was it?”

Arlen turned, coming face to face with the bar’s owner. It seemed he had been one of the onlookers of the spectacle.

“I appreciate that you took the fight outside. Even more that you drove away the punks that have been bothering my customers. You’ve done this town a good service. But,”

Arlen blinked when the owner’s brows furrowed.

“You’ve yet to pay for your meal.”

“Ah,”

“I heard to tell the ringleader that you have no money.”

“Well, you see—,”

“You weren’t going to run away without paying were you? That would make you no better than those scoundrels you drove away. Stealing money from hard working civillians...”

“Haha. No, of course not.”

By the time he glanced back, the Mohawk lady was already gone. Figures.

Meanwhile...

Nerissa Orta

Nerissa didn’t find anything particularly amusing about a man falling flat on his face to chase a cat. Scarlet, on the other hand, seemed to find it incredibly funny. Shaking her head, Nerissa watched curiously as the man got up and applied some sort of concoction to nose. He seemed a little nervous—and was worried about a matter that was entirely trivial in Nerissa’s mind. However, she wasn’t about to verbalize such thoughts. That would be rude. She opened her mouth, to reassure him that they—or at least she—wouldn’t tell a soul, but then he continued with an unnecessary threat to their alcoholic beverages.

Nerissa frowned slightly, though her face returned to impassiveness when the cat-chasing doctor met eyes with her. She was surprised when she saw the glare Scarlet shot at the man. The brunette that had seemed entirely friendly shifted to dislike in nearly an instant.

“I don’t know you, Doctor,” Nerissa began calmly. “Nor do I know very many people in this town so I’ve no reason to spread gossip about you.”

What would she even say? ‘I met this doctor in Mirstone who fell while running after a cat’? There was little point in telling that to anyone and she couldn’t fathom what such a conversation would result in. Nerissa would rather talk about Aquarius. The aqua-hair priestess glanced over at Skorigg, a smile forming on her face as she recalled his interest in her god. The burly Viking was much more friendly and open-mined than he appeared. The Cat-chasing doctor and Skorigg seemed very different in that regard, though they both were men of medicine. She returned her steadfast gaze to the Cat-loving blonde.

“But a doctor shouldn’t talk about poisoning people so casually,”Nerissa chastised. Doctors, in her mind, were suppose to cure the ill and sick, not use their extensive physiological knowledge to harm others…least of all because of a cat. A doctor who used his knowledge to kill potential patients was nothing less than a murderer. “I’m sure Mr. Skorigg would agree.”

Nodding her head, Nerissa turned away from the doctor in a bartender’s suit and, after shooting Skorigg a warm smile, followed Scarlet to the docks. She was eager to see Scarlet’s pirate ship. What sort of people did Captain Scarlet have in her crew? Who was this map lady who could chart a course to the grand line…and possibly One Piece? Her curiosity drove Nerissa forward.

The Charybdis was much grander than her small canoe, but grandness didn’t particularly impress Nerissa. Whether a boat was large or small mattered little to Aquarius. Still, Nerissa couldn’t deny that it was a nice boat. The aqua-haired priestess glanced up when the ‘Map Lady’ met them in response to Scarlet’s call. It was the orange-haired woman who had struck a deal with Scarlet.

“It’s good to see you again,”Nerissa greeted simply. In response to the woman’s question, Nerissa sighed. “Unfortunately, the whereabouts of the map are still unknown. The only thing the meeting revealed is that no one has obtained the map yet, which could be useful to know I suppose…,” She glanced at the people present at the meeting with her, wondering if they had anything to add. “The general consensus is wait.”

For what, Nerissa had no idea. If it were Arlen, he would advise her to leave and find One Piece the old fashioned way. Arlen doubted the map’s existence. Then again, the boy had never really been one for faith. Reminded of the Leviathan, Nerissa glanced at Scarlet. “I need to find my companion and tell him about our new arrangement. He’s probably worried.”

Back to Arlen...

Arlen Hakhassi

“The Sea Dragon?”

“That’s what I heard.”

Arlen hummed as he pulled yet another plate from the sink behind the counter and scrubbed it methodically with a sponge. Washing dishes was incredibly dull. Fortunately, the owner was willing to keep him company. Even though it was already night in the city, the bar was still very active, full of people drinking, dining, singing badly, and more drinking. If anything, the pub seemed to be even more lively at night than it was in the daytime. Men finally home from work gathered with friends to party—without their wives.

“What about the Captain Ferra’s contracted to work for? Is he any good?”

“Hmm, don’t know about that. He’s got a bounty, like any other pirate. Why are you asking? Interested in Ferra, Kid?”

“Not in the way you’re thinking of,”

Arlen was looking for strong allies and Arlen considered her a strong individual. He’d seen her fight briefly. Saw her skills. If the priestess was serious about traveling the Grand Line, they would need powerful friends. Especially since Nerissa was the head of a religion that, according to the World Government, wasn’t suppose to even exist. Arlen sighed.

“Got a woman on the mind?”

“Two of them.”

“Ohohoho. Classy, Kid. Very classy.”

Ferra hadn't taken long to relocate to the crows nest after her speech. She didn't actually care for their answers to her statement anyhow, because it didn't need answers. Either they'd respect it, or someone would get hurt. That was the way of things after all. From her perch the woman rested idly whilst letting her gaze meander over the town of Mirstone and ensuring that any points of interest were checked through her rifle's scope. Her mind was both at ease and all a flutter with the many thoughts racing through it despite her serene surroundings. One thing, however, that bothered her was the presence of Commander Damian and the Captain. There wasn't any viable reason for the Marines to have any form of presence unless they planned on making some form of move. And only one move made sense. Easy enough to avoid though. She'd just tell the Captain and they'd leave, simple as that.

But what about the boy? He hadn't followed after all. Still, it wasn't like he mattered, just a dumb boy making trouble in the world right? He didn't actually matter any how, and she didn't know him so fuck it.

...

...

...

"Shit."

Rolling off the side of the nest Ferra grasped a spare rope she'd set up for this exact reason and slid down to the deck. Making sure her gear was secure she strode towards the gangplank.

"Captain Kita," she called out, "May just be a hunch, but I'd be prepared to leave soon."

Skorrigg watched in a mixture of amusement as the fellow doctor spoke, but what he first found amusing quickly changed to distaste as the man continued to speak, and Skorrigg's hand instinctively fell to his axe as the unveiled threat set a small scowl into the man's brow. As the others spoke to inform the man that he should see himself away, the northerner could only nod in agreement, his size more than likely telling the man he was not to be trifled with, though as wordless as the message was.

Despite this, he was pleased as Nerissa smiled at him, and he quickly followed after her as she moved to meet the rest of the crew. Not having much knowledge of anyone else here, and not necessarily wanting to draw too much attention nor be left out of any information the man followed after the Priestess silently. Overall not much seemed to change however and it really just came back to the sit and wait game.

Then the Priestess spoke of a companion she needed to find. He didn't care that she had one as much as the fact that he seemed to be missing from the equation, and the doctor from earlier and his understanding of the pirates didn't give him too much faith in her safety.

"Priestess Nerissa, mayhaps I could accompany you? The city isn't as safe as it could be, and while I hope for there to be no trouble, perhaps my presence would serve as deterrent, no? If you didn't mind we could discuss your lord Aquarius as well? I am still quite curious you know."

_______

It hadn't come to a great shock to the woman to find that of all places Arlen was still in the pub. Now from what the keep had explained, and how he'd seemingly willingly decided to do the dishes she was a bit amused about. She would have expected the hard headed lad to have put up more of a fight, but maybe he was a faster learner than what she'd given him credit for. Instead, from what she'd gathered, the boy had been quite complacent in the understanding that he owed the keep and as such was paying his dues. Whether the keep was being entirely honest she didn't know, nor did she exactly care, but that was beside the point.

As odd as it was for her to admit, she did not like the idea of leaving the boy to the Marines. They weren't all bad, but with his attitude and how easily he could likely be taken for a pirate due to that attitude, he would easily see himself killed if her thoughts of an impending attack were to ring true.

"Keep, tomorrow, don't open your doors. Spread word around town as well, at least to the townsfolk. You remember those two Marines that came in and spoke to me earlier? A commander and a captain. In other words, unless they were very, very lost, may the gods be so kind, then they were scouting and preparing. There's no solid evidence, but I feel like the congregation of pirates here, all the bounties in one big pot, are about to cause more trouble than any of us would like, and Marines being here only furthers that belief."

There was a brief silence between the keep and Ferra as they sipped from a bottle of rum at the bar, but letting their minds muse away as Arlen worked away on the dishes in the back. In fact that very thought of Arlen doing the dishes caused Ferra to let out an honest and actual chuckle, reaching over and jokingly slugging the keep on the arm.

"You're an arse. Commander Damian paid for more than enough for the next three days. What've you got the boy doing the dishes for anyhow?"

"Oh you know, cheap labour, a lesson not to stir up trouble. By the way, I think that's the second time I've ever seen you smile, Ferra."

"Oh?" Ferra asked, cocking a brow, "And when was the first time? Oh wait, no, I remember, you managed to get me drunk enough to explain my rousing tale of showing the Marines what for. You know I only did that because I trust you as a friend, right? And if you tell anyone I'll have to kill you. I have a surly and grumpy attitude and reputation to uphold."

Holding his hands up in defence, the keep shook his head, "No, no that was all you. And I'm your friend? I actually surprised. Do you even know my name, or am I just 'keep' to you and that's all you care to know?"

"Good sir, you keep me employed, you keep me busy, you keep me fed and you keep me liquored up. You keep my secrets and you keep my trust. It may seem silly, but 'Keep' seems an apt name for one that I've allowed so much control of my life to. Besides, it's to keep you safe as well," Ferra acknowledged, her voice dropping a touch, "As a bartender you're expected to learn about your customers, so Marines won't care if you know my name. But if they found out I knew your name? You'd be targeted, either as an accomplice or as bait. 'Keep' is to keep you safe as well. Thanks for watching the boy for me by the way. I suppose I should go and see about fetching him. I promise not to tell him about your little trick. Stay safe, Keep."

Rising from the stool, Ferra walked around the bar and towards the door to the back. As she neared the boy, his back still to her, she let herself show the hinting of one last smile before adopting a stern look on her face. Walking silently up behind him, she inspected his work momentarily, briefly remembering that she too had helped Keep with his dishes once before as well, before speaking.

"Good, you listened to me. It's actually refreshing to see that you decided to help the barkeep rather than run off. It shows me you're willing to accept that you did not, in fact, know the difference of fighting and surviving but are willing to learn. Let it be known, however, I only came back because the barkeep sent word to me that if you cleaned any slower he wouldn't be able to close at the proper time. Your bill is paid. You're free to leave."

Making to walk away, that niggling at the back of her head irked at her yet again and Ferra briefly wished it had a physical body so she could deck it's jaw. Still, it was about time she stopped keeping to herself so much. It was part of why she'd joined the crew too. She needed to readjust herself and get herself out from the rut she was in. Leaving the boy wasn't going to help, not really, and he did so irritatingly remind her of herself when she was joining the Marines as well.

"I've reason to believe there is going to be trouble soon. The two gentlemen you saw leave, a Marine commander and captain. Short of being drifted ashore after a wreck or idiotically lost, they are here for a mission, and with all the pirates, it's not hard to imagine what the mission could be. My offer still stands, you can join the crew on my word. Meaning I'd be vouching for you. The specifics of that can be hashed out later, just know that if you take the offer and mess up, you had best pray to whatever gods you will that the Captain gets a hold of you before I do. If you would not wish to join the crew, however, I would still like to at least see you to the docks. You've been seen with me after all, and I can't have you telling tales of where you've last seen me going, now can I?"

Cletus T. Bass

Cletus turned his attention back to the docks as he heard what sounded like a grenade go off elsewhere. He was beginning to think that what he thought was a Marine attack was really pirates being antsy. "Young punks...," he thought as he smoked. His cigarette was close to the butt now. As for his revolver, Cletus still held it; it would be handy to have his weapon already drawn if bored pirates decided to attack.

The sound of his captain's voice caused Cletus to look at the gangplank as Scarlet boarded. There was a tall, barbaric looking man, an elegant looking woman, and a man in a red trench coat following the Red Ribbon Pirate captain. Cletus flicked his cigarette into the sea as Nerissa mentioned the One Piece Map. "Not all of them decided to stay put... I don't know if you heard the explosions, but it sounds like a couple pirate groups are getting antsy out here," he grumbled. "I'd take the big guy with ya if I where you, missy. It's only a matter of time before this town becomes even more of a hell hole...," He said to Nerissa before turning his attention to Captain Scarlet. "Any orders, Captain?"

Arlen Hakhassi

Arlen had been lost in thoughts while doing the dishes. So lost, in fact, that when he heard footsteps approaching him, he assumed they belonged to the bar owner. At least he did…until he heard her voice. Thankfully the silver-haired teenager managed to catch the plate before it fell and crashed on the floor. That would have been embarrassing.

Swiveling around, Arlen arched an eyebrow as he faced Ferra. Did she work for the bar owner or something? She came all the way back just to tell him that he was done paying his dues? Bullshit. Drying his last plate, and then subsequently his hands, Arlen frowned as he listened to her. Arrogant. He wondered how she made any friends with her manner of speaking.

She struck him as someone used to giving orders. The way she walked away as if expecting to be followed. The way she belittled people while talking. Even her compliments seemed half-assed. In a small way, she reminded him of Nerissa. But she wasn’t the Priestess and he had no reason to cater to her.

“I’m not doing this because of anything you said,” Arlen said, tossing the rag aside as she turned her back. It was the truth. Arlen simply hadn’t wanted to fall back to his old ways, even if he did end up becoming a pirate. The difference between fighting and surviving? Arlen fought to live. To him, the two were connected. His entire lifestyle, as well as his mother’s, was built because of his skills as a fighter. Who was she to demean that? To lecture him for beating up that one meat-head, when she clearly would’ve done the same…if not more. “And I’d appreciate it if you didn’t talk as if you know the first thing about me.”

Arlen might have continued, but there were more pressing matters at hand. The silver-haired Mirage Islander threw his head back, closed his eyes, and let out a long mournful sigh at Ferra’s revelation, slumping in a way that let his elbows rest on the counter. Just his luck. A possible marine raid. And while Priestess Nerissa was still missing. He’d known the risks when they decided to set sail for Mirestone. All for a map that might not even exist.

“Threatening me is not a good way to get me to come with you either,” Arlen informed Ferra casually. He rubbed his temple, giving himself a moment to think. Then he opened his eyes and peered at Ferra. “ Unless you can vouch for two people, I can’t join your crew. There’s someone I have to protect.”

He couldn’t imagine what the Chieftans would say if he abandoned Nerissa, his duty, to go sailing to who knows where. Or worse, returned with her corpse. Arlen straightened and made his way to the bar’s exit. “If the marines really are coming, I have to find her before they do.”Arlen paused at the doorway.“But you’re right about us needing protection.”They were worth 15 million belies together. If the marines didn’t catch them first, money-hungry bounty hunters would. Joining a pirate crew was the best solution.“Once I find her, we’ll meet you at the docks. Then we can talk specifics.”

With that said, Arlen dashed into the dark streets. He didn’t know where to begin looking, but that didn’t matter. He thought he had time. However, if Ferra was right and trouble really was brewing, Nerissa would be alone and helpless. He glanced up at the stars.

“I’ll start at the marketplace then work my way around town asking anyone I meet. Yep. Sounds like a plan…”

Scarlet Johanna Indigrid

As Scarlet walked on to her own ship, her mouth opened swiftly as she meant to answer Narivena’s question, but she promptly shut it when she heard someone else beat her to the punch. Her head swiftly turned to see that Nerissa was already busy providing an answer. Satisfied with Nerissa’s explanation, Scarlet nodded her head once. “Yep! That pretty much describes it.” She offered Nerissa a brief smile before turning her head back to the deck of the ship, wondering where Jasper was. She wanted to introduce him to their new crew.

She was so distracted by her search for him that she almost completely missed Nerissa’s next statement, though she turned her head just in time to realize that the priestess was speaking again. Luckily, it didn’t seem like she missed too much.

“Your companion?” Scarlet clarified. She herself was much more fond of the term friend though she didn’t think it fair to argue about someone’s choice of words so she let it be in the moment. “Sure. We definitely have room for a few more and it would be a shame to lose a friend.” She smiled, glad that she’d managed to use her preferred term.

Her eyes briefly turned to Skorrig as he offered to accompany Nerissa and then she looked to Cletus.
“Explosions?! I didn’t hear them actually, but that sounds like fun! Do you think there’ll be a fight once someone finds the map? I think so....” Scarlet smiled at the thought before turning her attention back to the doctor and the priestess. “You should definitely go with her, though,” she agreed. “It’s getting dark and things tend to get dangerous then.”

Glancing out at the row of ships that were barely illuminated by the last trickling lights of the now set sun, Scarlet contemplated for a moment. Turning back to Cletus, she nodded briefly at him.
“When I got this ship, I honestly didn’t intend on getting into any fights on her… not with other ships and certainly not with other people. Can you make sure that she’s capable of handling such things? I don’t think she was really meant to be a pirate vessel, but I’m sure we can turn her into one, right?”

Abigail Livingston

AnimePirateGirl5.jpg

NPC Notes

Location: Market

Age: 12

Gender: Female

Abigail found herself really getting into shopping with Kyoko. There were so many foods that she’d never even heard of before and as Abigail picked different things up, looked at them and set them back in the stand, she realized that her curiosity and her growing hunger were competing as she moved along. She knew better than to steal anything. Not only would it draw attention to her - which would be
very bad - but it would also likely get her new friend in trouble as well and she really didn’t want to do that. Her eyes glanced curiously towards Kyoko, though, wondering how long they were going to shop and then how long it would take for her to cook. Abigail found that in the moment, she was not sure she could wait as long as it might take.

It seemed they would be waiting even longer still. Abigail could not contain a sigh as she was told to “stay here”. Of course, she did as she was told and she watched as the situation unfolded in front of her. She also found herself jumping as she realized that the woman who she was now friends with seemed to become quite scary. Throughout it all, though, Abigail merely watched.

When Kyoko turned to walk back towards the young girl, Abigail smiled at her and threw her fist in the air as though celebrating her companion’s victory.
“Wooo!” she cheered in mini celebration. The younger girl didn’t even seem to notice Kyoko’s apparent unhappiness at the way that whole scene had played out. “I didn’t know you could be scary like that,” Abby commented. “That’s probably a good thing, though, right?”

The young girl’s eyes scanned the area around them and it became apparent that there was one thing Abby did understand. People on this particular island could be - and often
were - quite dangerous.

After a quick scan of the area, Abigail looked back up at Kyoko and asked,
“Are we going to be able to eat soon?” Almost in tandem with her question, Abigail’s stomach rumbled.

Kenji Kita

Kenji sighed when he heard Stacy mention payment. He walked into the captains quarters. Soon after he returned with a bag of beli. "Here" He said placing it in her hands, "That should cover everything... You know I was hoping that you would decide to join our crew, you and Syrin, because your skill are much needed on a vessel such as this one. But it seems that it is time for us to part ways Stacy. At least you passed my test, I was hoping that even if I told you my name right from the get go you would seem like a decent person and fix the ship, even if you had to deal with the stupidity of myself and Norman. If you do change your mind we will be sailing out in a couple days map or no map, I want to find the one piece no matter what, this map was just something to point me in that direction" He said.

Over the side of the ship he hear a large Bang soon after. A few ships down the docks there was a large fire. the ship had was up in blazes and if someone did not put it out it would spread to other ships. Then Kenji heard Rena shout out to him. "Huh? Oh you again, Give me a few minutes, I'll be right back" kenji said as he jumped off the ship and ran down the docks.

Reaching the burning ship he realised that mainly the flames were abaft and that the sails were still in good shape. He climbed up on the ship noticing the plaque that said win ward pirates. He began to climb up the main mast and as he reached the yard he cut down the topsails and mains and the ship began to move out into the harbour. When she was far enough out Kenji jumped off and swam ashore. The ship lit up like a firework show after that as the fire had made its way to the gun powder storage on board.

Kenji made his way back to his ship. He walked up to Rena on the docks. "So a navigator right? I'm not sure if we have anyone who can navigate besides myself" he said, "but of course I only know basic skills, I'm not good enough to navigate the grandline" he said.

Stacy Beauregard

Stacy’s arms remained crossed and her expression remained indifferent as she waited for Kenji to fork over the money she’d been promised. A soft smile curled in her lips as the bag of beli was dropped in her hands. “Thank you for your business,” she said simply. Though she heard the rest of what he said, Stacy made no comment on it simply because she didn’t care. There was nothing she could think of that would convince her to stick around and she didn’t care how much he tested her or how much she “passed” in his book.

Carring the beli in one hand, she turned around and faced Syrin.
“Are you coming?” she asked him as she started walking off of the ship, completely ignoring almost everyone else around her.

Almost.

Before she fully stepped off of the vessel, her eyes trailed to Wasabi though she still didn’t know his name.
“I doubt you could really be interrupting anything. I mean… look at how chaotic it is.” Her arm swung around in a gesture towards everyone on the ship as if to imply that everyone of them was “chaotic”. “You’re welcome to come with us, though,” she shrugged. “I don’t think we’re really going anywhere specific, but…” Again, she shrugged.

Norman Newman, The Overwhelmed One

Norman found the sudden flurry of arrivals, departures, and conversation too much. He couldn't decide who to deal with, although he assumed Kenji being there meant they weren't stabbable.... again. He was frowning both physically and mentally at that. But thankfully Kenji gave him a task that easily lightened the load ok his mind.

Barbecue time! Took long enough for him to get around to his specialty! He gave a quick and exuberant salute to his Captain and bounded off below deck to retrieve the odd contraption known as a barbeque. On his home island food was prepared by oven or by fire, so it had been an interesting experience using all these gadgets he'd only previously read about.

He brought up the rum, followed by food supplies, and finally the barbecue. He could've had it heating up while he got the other stuff, but leaving heated surfaces aline is a big no no. He fired it up and began skewering meats and vegetables for kebabs to go with the rum. He hasn't met anyone who'd disliked eating kebabs before! They were easily adjusted to dietary preference AND they taste good! Hopefully everyone else enjoys them, because Norman's eyes basically glowed in excitement to watch them eat it. "Hope everyone's hungry!"

KYOKO RINNE

Kyoko hastily picking up the groceries and her handbag, she'd usually never do stunts like that out in the open as she wasn't the type to want unnecessary attention, especially in very populated areas. You could call her a vigilante by her actions but Kyo would quickly dismiss that as she never had any intentions of wanting or being a vigilante. With her, her quest was her only motive for even being out in the far seas. Abby smiling at Kyoko, rising her fist to congratulate her her so called "victory","Scary? Well, sometimes I can be but as one of my seniors would say, "You've only seen the beginning of it." And in my case- it's very handy." She replied with a cheeky tone at the end, in addition a somewhat loud grumble could be heard with Abigail wanting to know when she'll eat, "Its getting a bit late and I don't want you to wait till we get to my apartment. So instead, let's stop by old man Will, I'm sure he'll let me use his kitchen. His shop is usually opened by now he's a great cook- that I know he's good at, at least."

Kyo leading Abby out of the now, almost deserted marketplace. She crossed into a dim lit alleyway, smoke rose out of the manholes underneath, a few clothes hanging from a line breezed across close quarters above, a few men standing outside having small talk while their stench of cigarettes still lingered even when they passed by them until a smell conquered the malodor and the aroma so rich with many smells, one would be hypothesized to their senses. A small restaurant that was imbedded in the side of another building, covered by a top half curtain that blocked anyone from seeing inside, forcing them to step inside the establishment to see for themselves and a sign labeled boldly "WILL" above the restaurant. As they walked closer, the scent got stronger, Kyoko lifted the cover up and gazed at the setup before entering in, a man about 5 foot, supposedly sitting on stool behind the counter drinking a grog of beer as he wiped his mouth and raised an eyebrow at the sight of both of them. He wore dark shaded glasses, a red checkered plaid shirt and short beige pants, had thick white brows, bald but didn't looked that old as some would expect. He raised an eyebrow before returning normal and responded with a strange greeting
, "What's the difference between roast beef and pea soup?" A couple seconds later, Kyo replied, "Cause anyone can roast beef." The old man took a shot and gasped out loud, "Right again Kyo! That's the 57th time this month.", "Of course it is. Enough of that old man, I'm on serious business here which it requires the use of your kitchen." He took another gulp out of his grog and waved it around, "Yeah, yeah, go ahead, it's not like I clean up this place after everyone has eaten like pigs here." Kyoko nodded and went behind the counter as she placed the groceries on a table, took an apron from a hook and tied it onto to her then washing her hands before organizing everything.

"Alright then, hey Abby come inside, just take a seat right here in the middle and while your at it put the bag on the counter and I'll get everything ready for us to eat." By some will, Kyo had organized everything out of the bags, separating the meat with the produce, pans and pots had been set out out on the stove, she then checked inside one of pots that had already been on the stove and questioned the old man, "Hey Will, is this curry your making?" He grumbled a bit before answering, "Yeah, so? It isn't done yet." Kyoko looked around a bit before turning back to the old man, "You've already cook rice, or what?", "Yeah, its over there, don't worry there's plenty left." Kyo then moved his pot from the front to the back of the stove as she placed new pots and pans on the front, she brought a plate out, placed paper towel onto the tray, she then whiped out the prawn tempura and removed the shell keeping the tail attached before placing it onto the plate. She seasoned the prawns with salt, pepper and cooking sake that she got out on the table and placed it inside the fridge. She then grabbed a bowl, poured in tempura flour and a little bit of cold water as she mixed it together. She turned on the heat for her heavy-bottom pan as she poured in vegetable oil until halfway of the pan and waited for it to heat up. Old man Will suddenly realized the girl sitting across from him and pondered to Kyo, "Hey Kyo. What's with the squirt? You usually don't bring strangers in here, especially kids.", "Her name is Abby. And she sorta just tagged along. Its alright though, we've shared our interests." Will turned to Abby, "Hmmm... Kyo actually making friends and not throwing them out a window for once. How progressive. So kid, what's the story. Are you a local here or are you like nitpick Kyo over there?" Intending to get some information out of her while he was waiting on his curry to finish.

Nerissa Orta

Nerissa nodded at the advice of Scarlet and her soon to be crew-mate, whom she guessed to either Jasper or Cletus from what she recalled. No matter. She was certain she’d find out eventually. Beaming, she rounded towards Skorrigg.

“I would love some company, Mr. Skorrigg.” Even if Scarlet or her friend hadn’t insisted, Nerissa would’ve said yes. She had no reason to decline an act of kindness. Especially from someone who wished to learn more about Aquarius. “And it would be my pleasure to tell you about Lord Aquarius.”

She tilted her head when a man wearing a butler’s uniform, who seemed to be steadfastly guarding the Captain’s Quarters, approached them and offered to make dinner. “We shouldn’t take long,” Nerissa informed Scarlet, her butler, and the rest of the crew. A meal sounded wonderful. However, Nerissa wouldn’t be able to eat knowing Arlen was probably worried and awaiting her return. Had he even eaten yet? With such thoughts in mind, Nerissa departed the Charybdis with Skorrigg.

She was glad the Viking surgeon decided to accompany her. The priestess hadn’t heard any explosions, but, after glancing along the row of boats that lined the dock, Nerissa thought she might have seen smoke. Could Scarlet’s gruff-looking friend be right? Were pirates shooting at each other in impatience? It was an unsettling thought. Then again, she could imagine pirate Volantis doing such a thing.

“They are a nice bunch aren’t they?”Nerissa said conversationally as she strolled along the wharf. “The crew of the Charybdis I mean. I look forward to sailing with them. And you as well.”

The map lady. The butler. The gruff-looking older man. None of Scarlet’s friends appeared to be especially violent despite being pirates. It would be good to travel with them. Especially Scarlet. She couldn’t exactly say what drew her to the female Captain. Part of the reason was Scarlet’s friendliness. But a greater part had to do with her own curiosity. Scarlet intrigued her. Almost the same way One Piece did.

In a way, Skorrigg did as well. Aqua eyes examined the large Viking beside her. Polite. Thoughtful. Scholarly. He wasn’t anything like he appeared. It wasn’t often that people outside Mirage Island asked about Aquarius so she was very pleased when he showed interest. In fact, he’d been the first.

“Lord Aquarius is the embodiment of water itself,” Nerissa began worshipfully, her eyes twinking with each word she spoke. “He is every river, every sea, every raindrop. He is present in all of us and he is the father that gives all living beings life. According to our scriptures, he and his siblings created the world that we currently live in—a benevolent and powerful god. I can go on and on about him, but it's better if I show you.”

Giving Skorrigg’s arm a gentle pat, Nerissa stopped beside a pier where she and Arlen had docked their canoe. Odd that Arlen hadn’t returned yet. However, Nerissa wasn’t too worried since, no matter where he went, he couldn’t escape Aquarius’s eyes. She climbed aboard their small vessel and fished out a small clay bowl from the assortment of items. There wasn’t much—just her satchel, which contained her books and such, some odd looking tools, the oar, and several baskets of fruits.

Gracefully dipping bowl into the seawater and scooping up the liquid, she motioned Skorrigg closer. Then the priestess placed the bowl on her lap and clasped her hands in prayer. “God that tells no lies; Water that reflects the truth; Lord Aquarius, I beseech thee to show me the one I seek. My protector and friend, his name is Arlen Hakhassi—the Leviathan.”

For a moment, nothing happened. Suddenly the gem on Nerissa’s forehead glowed a brilliant crimson and the water in the basin seemed to shift slightly, the reflection changing to that of a silver haired teenager with dark skin. Nerissa peered at the image of her protector who seemed to be seated on a well. He was…drawing something? Nerissa frowned.

“What is he doing?”

Arlen Hakhassi

Arlen Hakhassi’s silver brows furrowed and his eyes narrowed in concentration as he weaved pen on paper. He had arrived at the marketplace only to find that there weren’t many people left. Given that it was growing dark, that shouldn’t have surprise him. The only people he managed to find were a couple of rowdy pirates gambling by a well. He had nicely asked them if they’d seen Nerissa. They reacted violently. Naturally, Arlen responded in turn.

Finally finished with his sketch of Priestess Nerissa, Arlen grinned and showed it to the only conscious pirate. A scrawny fellow sporting a black eye. He wasn’t the best artist, but it was easier than verbally describing Nerissa. Less time consuming as well.

“This is the girl I’m looking for,”Arlen said, pointing to the stick figure in a dress. “It shouldn’t be hard to notice her. She’s a very…spirited…individual. Won’t sit still if she sees meat-heads causing trouble for others.”

Arlen was used to it. Having to clean up for Nerissa whenever she ran her mouth had every little injustice she saw. Her being alone in a town-filled with pirates was bad enough. Her being alone when the marines attacked the pirates was even worse.

“Ah, um, t-that picture’s a little…,”

“Well?” Arlen asked impatiently, a scowl forming on his face as he thought of what might happen to the Priestess of Water should she be alone.

“Eeeek! Yes! We saw a girl! She was with a k-kid.”

“A kid?”Did Nerissa pick up an orphan or something? Give the rest of their meager savings away…again? Arlen sighed. The reason they didn’t have any money left was because Nerissa kept giving it away. Because she believed every single sob story told to her. “Where did she go?”

“T-that way.”

Uncrossing his legs, Arlen jumped off the well and made his way down the dim-lit allyway that the pirate pointed out. Passing several men who appeared to be smoking, Arlen stopped and smiled at them. He showed them his picture.

“Have you seen this girl?”

Syrin Insinu

Syrin snorted as he heard Kenji's little speech about how he acted being a test. If anything, he thought the man was trying to cover up his mistake earlier and keep Stacy on board. At the very least he had kept his promise and paid her what she was due. Syrin was almost about to start attacking everyone on ship if Kenji tried bargaining to give the money after they had stayed for this coming disaster of a dinner the strange crew was about to share. Shaking his head, he stuffed his hands in his pockets and nodded at Stacy. "Right behind you."

As he walked past everyone on deck, he noted he passed by Stacy as well. Looking back, he saw that she was talking to her new 'friend'. Shaking his head once more, he walked off the ship to wait for her on the dock. Pulling out his flask once more, he drank what was left of it in one gulp and let out a silent breath. That was all the alcohol he was allowing himself for he week, and he had to use it all in a single day due to two people whom he could barely tolerate while under the influence. He sighed. If he ever saw this crew again, it would be too soon, he could just feel it in his bones. His eyes softened as he began rubbing his right arm right over where his tattoo is. Looking out to sea, he muttered to himself. "Nikki... Daniel... Give me strength..."

@DaughterofAthena

For the umpteenth time Rena was stunned into silence. As the ship burned in the distance, Kenji just disappeared. Rena looked around towards the burning ship and saw him slice things in a blink of an eye, move the ship to safety and away from the others that were docked and towards the open sea. Then he returned, a little wetter than before, but resumed his conversation with her as if nothing had happened.

Rena stared and nodded as if understanding something.

"OK well if people are as strong, or stronger than you are on our travels, then I elect to guard the ship!" Rena said. So this is what it was going to be like? Fire? Crazy folk? People out to kill you? People blowing up ships? (the last one admittedly was partly her fault, but she ignored that fact). Still should be interesting!

"I would think if you know the basics of navigating you could figure the rest out." she said, reassuring herself more than anything, "but I guess a Captain has ....captain-y things to do. Like....you know....effortlessly and singlehandedly save an entire dock from burning into the sea. But, I guess since you're my captain now...uh...what are my orders? I don't say 'go and find the One piece, because I will kill you in your sleep."
she gave a half smile. Lordy, was she really joining these guys?

She turned as she saw someone just randomly starting to cook. "Uh...food is always good...Oda help me, I'm going to gain a lot of weight if I keep this up." she sighed and walked over to the thing he called a barbeque. "Hmm...so this is a portable grill hm? Maybe I could feature a foods from around the world type of article too. Are you joining Kenji? Why?....Just out of interest."

Cletus T. Bass

"You can count on me, Captain," Cletus replied in his usual gruff manor. He had been hoping that Scarlet would order him to do something ship related, though if she hadn't then he would have started working on the Charybdis anyway. Smiling on the inside, Cletus made his way below deck and grabbed his tool box. He looked through the ship supplies that he told Jasper to buy, grabbed a piece of metal, and began to hammer it into the inside of the hull. Cletus repeated this multiple times until the inner hull was lined with metal. He worked hard and only took a break for dinner.

After armoring up the interior of the Charybdis, Cletus turned his attention to the cannons. Paranoid about his back giving out on him, Cletus slowly pushed the cannons into their places below deck. He locked the cannons into place and checked the flaps below deck to see if they opened well enough for a cannon ball to fire. Just as an extra precaution, he rigged a stronger locking mechanism on the flaps so that the flaps wouldn't accidentally open and let in ocean splash water.

Cletus wiped the sweat off his brow after his work was complete. He walked back onto the deck and started to look for Captain Scarlet. "The Charybdis is battle ready, Captain." After giving Scarlet the news, Cletus smoked under the stars for about half an hour before climbing into his bunk for the night.

Norman Newman, The Killer Kebaber and Incongruous Interviewee

Norman looked up from his latest kebabs to find a rather pretty woman(who was slightly taller than him) asking him questions. "Yup yup! Portable grill this is, and it's producing oddly delicious kebabs. Feel free to have a finished one." He pointed to a growing pile of kebabs in a tin pan on the arm of the grill. "Pork, beef, chicken, fish, fruits or vegetables! I'm sure you'll find something you'll enjoy."

"As for why I'm joining Kenji.... ehehe. That's a funny story actually. Ya see, I was set adrift while sleeping by a rival clan. Kenji and his ship came across me and brought me aboard. I initially thought them trying to kill me. So I resisted, stabbing and the like. And Kenji stopped me! I thought 'WOW someone who DOESN'T die in one attack. I bet this guy will lead me to lots of fun.'"

"Then he starts talking Captain.... One Piece. ... something something. I was either not paying attention or I forgot. Regardless I liked the thought of the high seas, and he'd saved my life. If he's a Pirate Captain and we travel worldwide and gain bounty I'll truly become the world's best and most renowned ninja and assassin! Plus.... yknow. Foods, mmmmm. I am Normam by the way. And you?" He began staring off into space as he awaited the person's response.

Rena Heartwood

She tucked her hair behind her ear and turned slightly as Norman spoke, processing the response and keeping them stored away in her memory. His height was surprising, but she supposed a small stature would be good for hiding. Though small, he didn't seem scrawny and despite his interest in cooking and forthcoming personality she felt that this was a man that had all the makings of a cold blooded killer. 'Be Careful' was the thought that was at the forefront of her mind when she responded with another question.

"So...you're a ninja that likes to cook?" the food did smell quite delicious and she approached one of the kebabs. They were seasoned, something that most chefs failed to do with meat - relying too heavily on the natural flavors. She look a bite of one and her eyes opened wide. She found herself devouring the rest of the kebab in a matter of moments.

'Very lady like Rena,' she scolded herself internally, though honestly it felt as though she had no choice in the matter after she took her first bite. meat that was expertly cooked; evenly and without losing any of the succulent goodness. It was incredible how the meat simply drifted away in her mouth, melting as though it were butter in a frying pan. The vegetables complimented the meat beautifully and she was truly taken aback. A killer with a hand loving enough to craft something like this was almost an oxymoron.

"This is quite incredible." she said finally, resisting the urge to take another one, "with talent like this, I daresay you could open up a very successful restaurant here in the Blues. You would risk that talent and your life on something as simple as 'it seems like fun' to go into the Worlds most dangerous sea? Even if it was a debt to be repaid, you must forgive me for not understanding your motivation. What about the Grand Line seems fun for you? The constant threat of death? The unpredictabe nature of the weather? Or perhaps it is being branded a criminal for the rest of your life and having the World Government after you? "

What was it about these guys that made them want to do this?? She still didn't understand.

"I'll tell you a little about myself. I wish to apply for a job at this newspaper." she holds up the paper that was delivered across the island earlier that morning, "I want to find the truth and let everyone know what it is. Pirates have always been painted in a terrible light, but the source is a government sponsored paper. I want to know what the truth is and to relay it to the world. Find out all the mysteries that lie before us"

She fires him a raised eyebrow and a smile, "Like perhaps, how a ninja can stay undetected whilst smelling of delicious food."

Wantanabe Hotaka Wasabi and Stacy Beauregard

The tall shadowed figure scanned the commotion on the boat, taking note of the all the unnecessary drama. Paired with the fact that the one claiming the title of cook on the vessel seemed to be a complete maniac, Wasabi knew this was not the place for him. Of course he wanted to draw the attention of the Marines as quickly as possible, but he had no desire of making himself out to be a joke.

During his contemplation, Stacy had stepped off the ship. She was not far off though. Thus, Wasabi decided to follow that path instead. Unlike the others he had just met, she seemed to be relatively sane. Whether this would lead him to his goal or not was yet to be determined. However, Wasabi had a feeling something decent would come of it.

As he caught up to Stacy, he never said a word. Rather, he was taking the time to inspect the attitude of the city. He tuned into idle chatter for any news that might be of use as well as observing the architecture of the buildings to get a decent idea of how he would move if in a dire situation. While doing this, he remained completely silent. However, it was impossible to silence the large shadow he cast as he moved about. Whether she heard him or not, Stacy likely would have noticed that shadow seemingly trailing her.

Turning the moment she saw the taller man take one step towards her, Stacy presumed he would follow and that was really all she needed to know. Seeing that Syrin had already made his way to the head of their little pack, she walked up to him and noted that he seemed to be finishing off a flask. “I’m not sure if you’ll be refilling that, but I know I could definitely use a drink.” It was that simple statement that started her walking again, heading back to the tavern where she had first met the man with the oddly important shoes.

She saw rather than felt the shadow of Wasabi as he walked behind her. It literally concealed most of her own shadow while she walked, the sun setting behind them upon the water.

“You know,” she called back rather nonchalantly, “I told you my name, but I still don’t know yours.”

Wasabi’s eyes flicked down from a rooftop to focus on the one who had spoken. Then, in a rather sterile voice, he commented, “My name is Watanabe Hotaka Wasabi of the Shima Island clan. From this, you might infer that my first name is Watanabe. However, I am dubbed in the ancient tradition of the Shima clan. Therefore, what you would call my first name is actually the last one - Wasabi.”

Stacy merely nodded at his explanation. It seemed pertinent and she wasn’t about to decline an opportunity to learn something new. “Alright then, Wasabi. Would you care to join Syrin and I for a drink? We were telling stories earlier. Perhaps you might have one to share as the city finally quiets down for the night?”

“Drinking is a common pastime where I am from,” commented Wasabi, “However, I have not participated in that custom as often as most. I suppose one won’t do any harm. As for stories, I have plenty of those. After all, I was a teacher on Shima Island for a few years.”

Stacy nodded, the two of them walking into a tavern before she glanced back to see if Syrin still stuck with them. She hoped so, but it wouldn’t bother her if he did not. She wasn’t one to get too attached, after all.

Skorrigg, Nerissa, and Arlen

Skorrigg listened intently as the Priestess began to recant her knowledge of her god, not wanting to miss any of the details all whilst drawing comparisons similar to the Fae Council his people believed in. It explained much about the woman before him. It truly had to take a calm and sage woman to carry such an envoy as that of a benevolent and fatherly god that she followed. It wasn't until they came to her canoe that she performed something he truly had only heard tell of in stories of the Faerie touched. The woman produced a bowl and promptly called forth the image of a boy from nought but clear water. Furthermore the depiction was moving, as if he had a life of his own.

Amazed and the little man in the reflection, the burly northerner couldn't stop himself from reaching out and tapping the water, half expecting the little reflection man to respond. As he did he spoke out his amazement at the power the Priestess had graced him an audience of.

"By the Council, you're blessed! My people telt tales of the Fae touched, humans blessed to carry their magicks after the Sacrifice, but I never imagined I'd witness such a thing. Oh but you wouldn't know. I apologise, allow me to explain. For my people, there was the Father, who created the day, and the Mother who graced us with the beauty of the night. They in turn had many children, but the eldest and most powerful were the Faerie. They watched over and guided us, leading our major seasons. We had Faerie White, who guided us through our winters and let us know when to prepare for the coming of the second sister, Faerie Green. Faerie Green would show us when to plant our crops for the best yield. Then came the third sister, Faerie Yellow. She would bless us with a gracious warmth to comfort us before the return of the first sister, and bless us with warning of first sisters arrival, giving us time to ready ourselves and our animals." Skorrigg explained before continuing, "Of course there were many other sisters, and brothers, made. The Little twins, the giant triplets, the quintuplet of man and woman. Ah, but I'm sorry, I digress that I've led myself off topic and away to my own beliefs, Lady Nerissa. I apologise for my interruption and do hope it did not dissuade you from further speaking of your Lord. To carry such power I can't help but imagine there is something marvellous and truthful in the message you carry in your heart and mind."

As Skorrigg finished speaking he bowed his head in deference to the woman, hoping she had not taken offence at his brief speech on his own peoples following.

"Not at all," Nerissa replied, turning away from the bowl of water to look at Skorrigg. She smiled at the gentle, respectful Viking. "I enjoyed listening to you talk about the gods of your people."

It didn't surprise her that the people outside of Mirage Island would have their own religion. Their own belief system. A year away her homeland had opened Nerissa's eyes to a much wider world--one full of different gods. Though, to the Priestess of Water, Aquarius was the only one that mattered. She was his chosen. The head of his temple. Still, that didn't mean Nerissa wasn't curious about the different forms of faith out there.

"Faes...," Nerissa repeated, shaking her head in a somewhat mystified manner. "An interesting notion, but you are mistaken. I carry no such fae magic." She reached up to touch the gem on her forehead. "This is the blood of Aquarius, passed down to me from the previous Priestess of Water. It's only through this that I'm able to connect with Aquarius. What you see before you is his power."

Nodding with a broad smile hidden amongst his beard, Skorrigg took note, imagining how nice it must be to have a god that would present himself in such a manner. His mind was already putting together the possibilities of how his Father and Mother's family may have included Aquarius, or perhaps Aquarius was the father. Who was he to claim such knowledge, but there was no doubt that the woman before him held power that he could only explain as god gifted.

Slightly changing the subject to the topic of their venture, the man nodded back at the bowl and spoke.

"That lad, was he the one we're seeking out? I do hope he's found some form of safety amongst the city, it's become quite a dangerous place as of late sadly enough."

"Ah, yes." Nerissa peered back down at Arlen's image reflected in the bowl. She'd been distracted by Skorrigg's explanation and almost forgot about him. He seemed to have finished drawing and was now on the move. "That's Arlen, the Leviathan of Mirage Island and my companion who the Chieftans assigned to protect me."

Standing in a single, swift motion, Nerrisa climbed out of her canoe with the clay bowl in hand. She wasn't terribly worried about his safety. He was the strongest warrior on Mirage Island after all. Yet she needed to find him all the same. It'd been a year since they traveled together. She couldn't imagine leaving Mirestone without him. "Let's hurry. He appears to be at the marketplace."

"It sounds like a solid enough plan. I am tall and part crowds well. If a quick pace is what you need, would it please you for me to take the lead?"

The question was less out of courtesy than honest practicality. He had developed a bit of a reputation here as a fine healer, but also as one that did not tolerate funny business, and as such had become one most pirates didn't tangle with. At least not after the fiasco with the score of hoodlums that he'd set straight before.

"This friend of yours, by the by, Arlen you said. You said he is a Leviathan. I do not believe we carry the same understanding of Leviathans though, so I am curious, is he, or is he not a monstrous sea beast, because he truly looked like aught but a young lad in my eyes. Or is that more fae mag.. er... more of Aquarius' blessing and he simply appears to be but just a lad?"

As he spoke Skorrigg started making his way to the market, making a point to give just enough of a glare to any of those that did not move themselves from his path upon first sight so that they did once he drew close enough. At this pace, provided the Priestess was able to keep pace, it shouldn't take them too terribly long to reach the market provided they weren't interfered with.

"No, he's not," Nerissa giggled lightly as she followed her broad, shouldered soon-to-be crewmate to the marketplace. "The Leviathan is simply a title given to the strongest warrior on Mirage Island. It compares his strength to that of the great sea monster, one who guards Aquarius...though I've never actually seen Arlen fight such a beast."

Nerissa smiled as she seemed to recall a memory. "Truthfully, I was surprise when I first met him as well. When I thought of the Leviathan, I imagined someone much...bigger. Older. Someone like you, I suppose." Her eyes twinkled as she glanced up at her companion. The irony amused her. "But he must be strong if he is able to claim the title. I hear the competition for it is fairly intense among the warriors of Mirage Island."

Nerissa had never actually watched the yearly competitions, though she'd always been curious about them. The acolytes of the temple said they were too barbaric for her eyes. Gazing around at the dark and now fairly empty marketplace, Nerissa easily found the well Arlen had been sitting on. And the unconscious body of pirates. She sighed. Her young bodyguard was quite the handful.

"Do the people of the frozen North have similar trials?"

Suppressing a sour smile, Skorrigg nodded at the Priestess' question. The truth was, for all their honour in not killing non-combatants and the like, his people were constantly warring and fighting amongst each other, their sub tribe always finding ways to be at odd with each other for no other reason than because they could be.

"Amongst my people you would be trained from youth to be a warrior first. However, despite our seemingly barbaric nature, we have a set of codes always followed. A mutual respect that all adhere to. I for one didn't like the fighting. I became a medic. A dual purpose might I add, as one of our unspoken rules of conduct is that one never attacks a medic. A medic, however, can attack another, but most openly present this wish in a vocally laid out challenge, other wise it is considered unprovoked and dishonourable. They would be stripped of title and their place in the tribe and removed." letting out a sigh, the northerner couldn't help but realise how depressing his people seemed when he worded them out loud. Always fighting and being daft for no reason, "I hoped that, if I travelled far and wide enough I may be able to amass enough knowledge to return and settle them one day. To see their petty rivalries end would be a kindness that they may not deserve, but would most certainly benefit from."

Looking over the the people remaining in the marketplace, the large man scanned for any trace of the Leviathan. Sadly it wasn't as easy as he'd been hoping and he gently clapped a hand on Nerissa's shoulder to get her attention as a smile broke his normally passive features and a twinkle developed in his eye.

"Now, if only your compatriot was a true Leviathan. Easiest person to find this side of anywhere, eh?"

While Skorrigg was explaining about the tribes of the frozen north, Nerissa had set her clay bowl aside on the edge of the well and was busy checking the unconscious pirates all the while listening to every word the Skorrigg uttered. Fortunately, the pirates appeared to be alive.

"Oh, I don't know about that," Nerissa replied playfully, glancing up at the doctor when she felt his large, but gentle hand on her shoulder. She was glad to see he was smiling. He had sounded saddened when he talked about the warring nature of his people. "Have you ever seen a Leviathan, Mr Skorrigg?"

Getting to her feet, Nerissa looked towards the clay bowl of water she'd left on the well. She didn't actually need the bowl to perform the water scrying taught to her by the previous Priestess of Water. Any separated body of water would do. But the smaller the liquid medium the easier it was for Nerissa to connected to it. Lord Aquarius was a powerful god and his mind incredibly vast. Though the people of Mirage Island may laud her as Aquarius's chosen daughter and Skorrigg may think her the product of Fae magic, she knew better than anyone else. She was only human.

That in mind, Nerissa picked up the bowl and repeated what she showed Skorrigg when they'd been in the canoe. Ignoring the murmurs and surprised gasps of any passerby who might have been drawn to the glowing gem on her forehead, Nerissa peered into the clay bowl at what the reflection revealed.

"This way," Nerissa said as she lead him down an ally and towards a small restaurant that emitted a delightful aroma. Lifting up the top half of the curtain, Nerissa could see a large sign labeled "WILL" as she entered.

"Excuse me! Have any of you seen this girl? Blue eyes, wears a red gem on her forehead..."

A blue eyebrow rose when she found Arlen standing in front of the counter, showing a crudely drawn picture--of what she assumed was supposed to be herself--to the workers of the restaurant. Nerissa let out a light cough.

Arlen swiveled around, his eyes widening when he saw Nerissa."Priestess Nerissa! Thank Aquarius you're safe!"

A relieved smile forming on the boy's tanned face. However, the smile diminished when he caught sight of the large Viking following her. Walking purposefully away from the counter to the pair at the doorway, he eyed the large man silently for a moment before speaking. "Who are you? Why are you with the Priestess?"

A Mess for Marauders in Mirstone

The docks, flooded with budding pirate crews and merchants alike, slowly quieted as the sun vanished beneath a pleasant horizon. Shops within the town closed up, people headed to their homes, a few taverns leapt to life while those who found themselves within them drank their way into a dazed stupor before they too passed out in the blackness of the night. Starlight illuminated, but beyond that, a city normally bustling with life seemed to die in an instant.

Yet an anxiety remained hanging in the air. Too much was unknown. Too many questions were unanswered and too many people capable of too much violence were still far too close to the brink of destruction.

One could only wonder... what will tomorrow hold?

A Rude Awakening

The rising of the sun was subtle yet bright and within the arriving morning, not a cloud came with it. Peering over the dormant town of Mirstone, golden light seemed to disrupt its slumber. Slowly but surely, people returned to their jobs, to their waking lives and to doing whatever it was that happened to consume most of their days. Even the docks slowly began to feel the morning warmth that washed over them.

The docks had more in store, though.

Jasper had, per his usual routine, woken at the first sign of daybreak. Setting off to do his morning duties, he tidied up his own bed and the general areas if the ship he hadn't gotten to the prior night. It had been rather amusing eating dinner with the new recruits and learning a few new names. And everyone seemed to get a laugh at Jaspers confusion when he opened the box the baker gave him for free..... only to find a heart shaped pastry and a note asking him to visit again sometime.

After having finished all his usual morning duties he changes into his morning exercise wear. In other words a slightly less formal suit, brown in color as to avoid noticeable dirt stains. He started with stretches and a hundred push ups and sit ups each before setting off down the docks towards the beach for a morning jog.

Hitting the sand of the beach, a young man jumped off of what seemed to be a smaller ship with what looked like bruises lining the underlids of his eyes although they were blurred by glasses.
"I HAD THE MAP! I HAD THE MAP!" He ran along the shores absolutely screaming at the top of his lungs although he was also doing a very poor job of watching where he was going.

Running right into Jasper, the man seemed to bounce off of the butler and land flat on his butt in the sand as his glasses toppled off his face.

Jasper had not expected the man to continue running and slam directly into him. But something was apparently very serious, as he was seemingly in hysterics. Jasper picked up the man's glasses, offering them to him along with a hand up.
"What is all this about a map? Have you been robbed, sir?"

"The map... the map that everyone's been looking for..." the young man hesitated and stuttered at first before he finally caught the slightest glimpse of the outline of his glasses and accepted them as they were offered, sliding them back into place on his face. Looking up at the man in front of him, his eyes widened momentarily and it looked as though he was about to yell again before he promptly slammed his mouth shut.

It took him a moment to regain himself, standing up and brushing the sand off of his trousers.

"I had it and they stole it and now they're getting away!" He stated finally, his voice rising through the sentence until he finally ended at the same volume he'd been speaking with when he'd been running and screaming. Pointing out to the water, he revealed a single large vessel that seemed to be sailing straight into a morning fog that surrounded the island.

Jasper rescinded his offered hand and tilted his head curiously. Was it his imagination or did the man's eyes seem to widen a tad as if in recognition when his glasses were put back on. Hmmm, no it had to have been his imagination. He set a hand on the fellows shoulder in a manner meant to comfort and calm.
"Apologies, but I do not believe anyone can retrieve your stolen map with the head start they have. Is there not a way you can replace it?" He pondered if it was the map Scarlet was searching for while gazing out at the ship.

"No! I... it... NO!" The young man seemed to be both overtly flustered and confused at the same time, his eyes turning to watch as the ship grew further and further away from shore when...

BOOM!

Wood and fire cascaded over the surface of the water as it expanded, oxidizing more of the air as more and more as some small slivers managed to reach some of the ships closer to the one that no longer existed. If the screaming of the young man had not been enough to wake up every sleeping soul on the shore of Mirstone, the echoing thunder of the explosion definitely would have been enough to do it.

The young man's head hung low as he saw it.
"N...n... no... it's... it's gone for good..."

Jaspers eyes widened as the ship exploded. Either a pirate attack or a Marine raid was about to commence. Although he had all of his money on the latter with how many named pirates were here. He turned back to the man and quickly spouted a warning.
"Whatever map it is you lost, you need to get back to your crew and leave as fast as you can. I am almost sure the Marines are about to raid the island."

Sure enough, emerging from the fog was a single ship large enough to tear through the rubble of what remained after the explosion.

With only a moment's glance at the emerging ship, Jasper turned on his heels and used Shave to head straight back to his crew. He needed to warn them and prepare to get past whatever the Marines had waiting.

Charybdis

Scarlet slept firm and sound through the night after getting to know some of her new crewmates and was quite excited to actually feel more like a pirate. She remembered what it had felt like to be a member of Spades's crew not too long ago and she hoped her crew worked out the same. Though she hadn't had anything to drink herself, she'd left it open for the others to get some of the rum below deck and Scarlet hoped she wouldn't regret it.

It was a sound like thunder that woke her up. Jumping up out of the bed, a hand ran through her hair and she ruffled the snarly dark brown locks before running out onto the deck of the ship and glancing over the deck. Peering over the edge, all she saw was smoke, but it was all it took for her to get excited.

Running to the stairs leading to the barracks below, Scarlet completely missed the sight of the ship leaping through the smoke and instead called down to all her crew members still below deck.
"Wake up, scallywags! It's time to be pirates!" The smile on her face was impossibly bright as she said it. Ever since she declared herself a pirate captain, she'd been wanting to say that word... scallywags.

Without waiting for them to come up to the deck, Scarlet started climbing up to the crow's nest, curious to see more of what had happened. It was likely anyone running up to the deck would see her about halfway up the mast.

Sea Dragon

Kenji's head was pounding as he woke up in the morning. He was a little bit stunned as he got up out of bed. He was shirtless as he walked over to the door of the bed room. He was almost certain what had woke him up was the shouting of someone outside, and he was ready to kill who ever disturbed his nap.

Kenji picked up his two swords and walked out through the cabin doors. When the sun light hit his face he had to close his eyes and turn away, it was way to bright for him. He looked down on the deck as he began to adjust. Bottles scattered the deck, there was a broken rum barrel on deck, the grill was left out, there was food left out. Kenji simply sighed at the mess and jumped down onto the docks. He was surprised everyone had managed to make their way down to the cabins in under deck, and that no one had slept on deck. He was hammered the night before and was chugging back rum. He wasn't sure who else had been drinking, his memory being a bit fuzzy, but he did remember having a good time with hs crew.

He walked along the docks and down along the beach to where he had though he heard the voice. Thats when the explosion had happened. Kenji saw what looked to be Butler character use a skill similar to the one Jack Rackham and Norman use called shave. He managed to pick up a few words about a map being destroyed.
"Its likely Marines... Lots of big names in Mirstone right now, they could have hit a gun powder reserve with a well placed shot..." he said to him self, thinking out loud. "No... Theres more to this, the marines wouldn't attack Mirstone with out a good plan in place, there is something else going on here..." he said running back to his ship, head still pounding from his drunkness last night, but at least he could think clearly.

The Lucky Nova

Sora as chill as he normally was, wasn't in a good mood at all. Not only did he get zero sleep as the night passed, but he found his wallet rather empty. Sure that damned brat offered him a ruby, but what was one ruby going to get him? A lazy job that's what. He had still taken it don't get him wrong and the other guy had offered to help as well, something he had also accepted. But even with the other guy there to help out, he still needed to get some supplies and a few others so all the damages could be fixed by the morning and no later. And not really trusting a bunch of people on a pirate island to fix his lovely ship he stayed awake the entire night to make sure no one was lazy or tried to take anything that didn't belong to them.

While this all happened he sent his new crewmates to do as they pleased. Whether it be hanging around the island, sleeping on the ship, or getting more supplies...possibly finding a navigator or two was up to them. Really once it hit one in the morning he lost track of where everyone was.

Now being early morning, Sora sat on the pier as he watched the men closely do the final touches on the ship. As he sat there his legs criss-cross his pipe on his lap and Albi in the crook of his neck, he stayed silent debating on what today would hold and what he should do. Letting a small yawn leave him he turned his attention to the island, as he debated if he should bother finding a capable navigator here. Or use his own skills, as minor as they were, to get to the next island and find one there.

Before he could get to a decision on this however there was a bright light out in the ocean for a split second, followed by an explosion. When the loud, almost ear splitting explosion happened Sora insantly stood up and looked around.
"Did that kid blow another ship up??" He muttered. Though he quickly dismissed the idea as the sound was further away than the ships that were docked. With Albi still clinging onto him he climbed up the boat in a flash, and with the same speed went up to the crows next to get a better look.

Now holding onto the top using one hand to make sure he didn't fall, and the other as a visor for the sun, he squinted his eyes. For a moment he was able to see the burning pirate flag out in the sea before it was engulfed in even more smoke.
"Who attacked...that ship went out in one attack more likely than not. And that takes serious firepower..." He muttered as he felt slightly uneasy by this, Albi felt his uneasiness and looked up at him letting out a soft squeak.

You
are still allowed to fill in the gaps of what might have happened on the prior evening but you are required to note at the top of the post that your post backtracks.

No matter where your character fell asleep, though, it
is possible to hear the explosion.

The ship peering through the fog is quite extensive, but it is NOT readily identifiable as a marine ship from its current distance unless you've seen a marine ship before.

Feel free to ask any questions in the OOC.

Narivena Veulence

The first night spent at the Charybdis was pleasing to Narivena to say the least. They had been served a divine meal followed by an entertaining dessert in good company. Scarlet had done a fine job in finding people for her crew. A tempting thought to join, but she pushed the idea out of her head the moment it had settled in. A crew was no place for her - a thief and assassin with no other particular goal than exploring the world and drawing the most detailed map of it that had been seen. Narivena felt lucky to be aquainted with the Ribbon-pirates, despite them being.. Well.. Pirates and all. She had no opinion whether she wanted to be one herself or not, but the few she had encountered made her roll her eyes at the thought. To be free to roam the sea, fight powerful opponents and explore the world and breaking rules, however, made her heart jump in excitement.

Narivena had fallen asleep with a smile on her face for the first time in a long time and she had not gotten a better night's sleep since arriving at this island. Calming sound of the ocean caressing the sides of the ship, a very gentle swaying her deeper into sleep and the sound of sleeping people around her. Her body had felt at rest. Until..

A large
'boom' yanked her awake, making her nearly fall out of her assigned bedspot. Her hand was already on a knife hidden in her boot, but a familiar voice made her release her grip and instead gather her equipment to see what all the commotion top-deck was about.

"Wake up, scallywags! It's time to be pirates!"

"Scallywags..?"
Narivena repeated in slight confusion, voice still hoarse from sleep as she rubbed her eye with the palm of her hand and fastened her weapons to her belt. Looking at the other members within the room. She noticed Jasper was not present, yet she made her way top-deck and made her way to the helm of the ship. Her eyes easily found Scarlet working her way to the Crow's nest. Following the Captain's gaze, she peered out over the ocean. The waves had become irregular and more intense due to the explosion and the sinking ship's movements.

" What happened? That ship is huge." Narivena yelled and pointed towards the unidentifiable ship far out on the ocean. Assuming it was a pirate-ship she assumed it had been a disagreement or foes arguements - but she could not be sure. The ship that had evidently fired the shot was bigger than most she had seen around these parts, and therefore a potential threat to the Charybdis. Biting her lower lip in thought, she let her gaze wander over deck. Were they battle-ready and ready to depart should they need to participate in the fighting? They had to be - and she had to fulfill her role as navigator.

However, the sight of smoke and fog was both exciting and terrifying all at once. Noticing a smile on her own lips, she knew she had chosen correctly. Adrenaline, danger and adventure. A laught escaped her throat and filled the air as she approached the shipside to get a better view.

Cait Merlin

Cait sat on the pier is close proximity to her captain. Her guitar rested on her lap as she strummed it. She absentmindedly created a soft acoustic song as she watched the repairs being done on the Lucky Nova. If she hadn't played music in the streets last night, the repairs may not have been done this timely. Cait smiled as she thought back to last night. She had a blast singing and playing her guitar. Wanting to help Captain Sora she stayed out late to gather as many beli tips as she could and didn't fall asleep until late in the night.

She glanced over at Captain Sora and noticed that he didn't look to be in the best mood, most likely due to a lack of sleep and money worries. She hoped the beli that she had gathered last night helped ease his worry a little. Cait started to play an upbeat, quirky tune in an attempt to bring Sora's spirits up.

"Look how the lights of the town, the lights of the town are shining now. Tonight I'll be dancing around, I'm off on the road to Galway now. Look how she's off on the town. She's off on a search of sailors though. There's fine fellas here to be found. She's never been one to stay at home."

"Home you'll go and it's there you'll stay, and you've got work to do in the morning. Give up your dream of going away, forget your sailors in Galway. Téir abhaile riú, téir abhaile riú. Téir abhaile riú Mhearai. Téir abhail gus fan sa bhaile. Mar tá do mhargadh déanta."

She had just finished singing the part of the song in the ancient language of her island when an explosion interrupted her singing. She quickly checked the Lucky Nova, but luckily she hadn't been the target of another cannonball. "I think he'd learned his lesson after what happened yesterday," she told her captain as she stood up. She scanned the ocean and saw the large ship in the fog. She couldn't tell if it was pirate of marine, but it looked expensive.

"We have to protect the Lucky Nova. What are your orders, Captain?"

Rena's night was a night of observation and bemusement. Having learnt her lesson from before, she quietly sipped the rum as she watched the others revel in various form of pirate debauchery, careful not to swig the strong smelling liquor as she would fall flat on her face after 2 seconds. Watching the others on the ship was plenty for her; their excitement and energy was contagious and the Captain, in particular was at the centre of a tornado of laughing and (sometimes unnecesary) yelling. She ate more kebabs than she should have and whilst others fell into a drunken slumber, hers was nothing short of a food coma. She stayed up the latest, still not trusting those around her and once she was certain they were asleep, she somehow managed to get her overstuffed stomach up to the crow's nest, where she curled up liked some paranoid cat and slept soundly.

Until the explosion.

It shuddered her entire being and she jumped up, much like the aforementioned cat, and looked around in a panic. Were they under fire? Was it the Winward Pirates coming for revenge? Was it the Marines finally descending on an island of pirates? Whatever it was, it sent Rena breathing hard and clutching the rim of the crow's nest with such vigor she thought she may break it.

Rena, calmly inform the captain of what you are seeing

"Kenji you Fuckwit! Do something! Fucking the motherfucking apocalypse is upon us you horseradish fucking anal cavity!"

Well, then....it seems you have tourettes Rena....

"S-sorry!" she meekly followed and hid back down in the nest. "I'll just stay here until you decide you want to leave..." she was certain he could see the red glow of embarrassment flowing through her. "Sorry again...."

Nerissa and Arlen

“No, let’s not,” Nerissa said as she slowly climbed up the steps leading to the deck. Despite having stayed up fairly late last night, the blue haired priestess showed no signs of exhaustion. Her eyes were crystal clear and her expression calm as she analyzed the situation above deck. She directed her suggestion at Captain Scarlet.“Violence shouldn’t be our first solution. I think we should talk to the people aboard that ship first. Find out what they’re after.”

Meanwhile, Arlen yawned loudly as he followed the Priestess of Water up the steps. Perhaps he might have been more jolted by the explosion if it hadn’t taken so much effort to force his eyelids open. He and Nerissa had spent a good amount of time talking while at Will’s restaurant. Naturally, he told her what Ferra told him about the marines.

He laid out clearly for the priestess what Ferra offered to him—protection aboard the Sea Dragon should he join the pirate crew. Nerissa, on the other hand, explained how she befriended a different Pirate Captain who wanted to Search for One Piece with her. She said that because Arlen was her friend, Captain Scarlet would welcome him aboard. No conditions whatsoever. It was too good to be true. Arlen wondered what sort of Captain would readily accept someone she’d never met on her ship. He’d cautioned Nerissa to be wary of her friend. However, the priestess seemed to take offense to his comment and an argument, that was entirely pointless, began. His mother would scold him if she saw him disrespecting the Priestess of Water. But the Priestess of Water, in reality, wasn’t at all like what Arlen imagined.

“I told you last night that the marines were coming,” Arlen replied lazily to Nerissa's suggestion. “What do you think they’re after?”

“You don’t know that for sure, ” Nerissa’s gaze didn’t waver from the large ship emerging from the fog, even as she responded to her protector. We don't know anything about that ship or the people inside. They could be good people. If we fire first it would give them an excuse to fire back. We would be the aggressor, the initiator of the conflict. Aquarius wouldn’t approve of that.”

Arlen resisted the urge to roll his eyes. He wanted to say that aggression had already started, but that would just spark another needless argument. Instead, the young Leviathan turned to the crew of the Charybdis—or at least the ones on deck. He didn’t know many of them. Any of them really. The only people he knew on the ship were Nerissa, Skorrigg, and the butler. And the only reason he knew the butler because the man had escorted them to the barracks when they arrived at the Charbydis late in the night--after moving all their things, including their canoe, to Scarlet's ship. Letting out a sigh, Arlen leaned against the mast and rubbed his eyes in an attempt to drive away his sleepiness.

“Maybe we’ll be lucky and the marines won’t know this is a pirate ship,” Arlen commented tiredly. “I mean, I don’t see a Pirate’s flag displayed anywhere,”

Cracking his neck, Arlen glanced up at the female captain that was on the crow’s nest. She seemed entirely excited at the prospect of danger. Arlen wasn’t sure if that was good thing or a bad thing. "Thanks for letting me aboard by the way."

Ferra had already been awake as the mayhem began to unfold. It didn't surprise her in the slightest, especially due to her prediction from earlier. She was starting to regret not warning Kenji earlier on the pretence that she was simply being paranoid. Raising her rifle quickly, she looked out towards the craft as it came through the morning mist through the scope and cursed under her breath as she realised what was going on. Rising from her spot across one of the yards, as someone who hadn't been listening or was too drunk had taken her claimed nest spot, Ferra looked over at the girl in the nest as she spoke and hollered over.

"Captain's not here. Get down to the deck and get the craft ready to sail as best as you know how, that or prepare to protect your craft!"

Pulling one of her whips from around her body, the woman lashed it around the mast just tight enough to hold her and she dropped down halfway. Once coming to a stop she pulled the whip free and fell the rest of the way to the ground, rolling as she touched down. Coming out of the roll at a run, she began adjusting the rigging and preparing to drop sails at a moments notice. They needed to be ready for once the Captain returned to the craft. It wouldn't do any good for him to get back and them not be ready. Still, she couldn't do it alone and they needed to get moving.

"Kita Crew, that is a Marine craft, and certainly not a standard one. The Captain's not back yet, so you have two good options, run for yourselves or prepare the ship for sail. We need to be ready to leave once the Captain returns!" she barked loudly, currently checking the status of the anchor as well as looking back over the harbour. It made sense to attack the ships in the harbour of course, but the more she thought about it the more worried she'd started getting about the idea of a Marines moving from the inland to the harbour, chasing the pirates to their ships. Cursing under her breath she quickly took to the ratlines, preparing to look over the town to check to see if her worries stood correct. Thankfully she saw no one save for pirates running for the ships.

Wherever Kenji was, he needed to get back to his ship and take control of the situation before any of the crew got restless.

_______

Having been enjoying a simple breakfast of fruit juice and a scone upon the upper deck that morning, Skorrigg had full view as the explosion tore through the bay and noticed the large ship come ploughing through the wreckage. Understanding these southerners habits of expecting size to make them the biggest meanest fighters, it wasn't hard for the large man to recognise that whoever was here wasn't here to make friends. Still he didn't have any further information on what had just happened either. As people flooded up above deck, the northerner stowed away the rest of his meal and lifted his helm, lowering down upon his head in preparation for any trouble.

As he listened to the people talk upon the deck, he couldn't help but agree with Nerissa. Attacking first would be provocative of an attack, something that would surely cause problems for them, especially given the number of cannons the other ship likely carried. Leaving without clearance, had that been what the previous ship had attempted, would have led to death as well. Making his way towards the main congregation of people, the large man finally added in his two pence worth.

"So they are a large craft that w shouldn't fight, and are possibly marines come to attacks pirates, no? Do we have a flag of any other nation, or of a trading guild? If we do, why not fly it and leave only non combatants, such as myself and Nerissa, or others that are immediately 'piratey' in appearance above deck. We could state we're simply travellers from afar stuck here by pirates, perhaps be allowed to leave before anything gets too crazy. Once escape is made, we go. It would allow for the lowest possible chance of budding casualties and hopefully entirely avoid any unneeded violence." the large man advised, having grown used to skirting around conflict if possible, "Sure, my people find lying largely dishonourable, but pitting our crew against such odds hardly seems like an honourable thing to do either."

As Ferra had let herself be preoccupied on setting the craft and preparing herself for departure, she had tuned out many of the pirates and other unsavoury folk rushing the docks as they did their best to sort out where their ships were and how to get to them She also made a point to tune out the more brazen and crazed ones that seemed to find their answers in scuffles and fights over certain craft. It was foolish to be honest, and they'd find better aid in helping each other, but pirates in general could oft be stupid and greedy.

Having moved off the ship itself, Ferra had decided to check the docks for any ropes potentially binding them to the dock when she felt the cool metal of a gun barrel press into the side of her head. She knew it was a pirate, or at least she thought she knew, but it was really her master... but then why was her master among pirates... or why were pirates among her masters?

Suddenly snapping back to reality with a ferocious scream of hatred, defiance and rage that immediately set Ferra's throat raw, the woman, rifle laying next to her along with her sword, rounded on the pirate and knocked the pistol to the side as her aggressor fired a round into the side of the Sea Dragon. In response Ferra drove a kick into the leg of the pirate and watched as he dropped to one knee. Then she hit him. Then she hit him again. And then a third time. And a fourth time. A fifth. A sixth. Damian Havrick, Sellick Havrick and Robin Linwade

The ship sailing in seemed to slow down as it made its way through the rubble of the smaller ship that no longer existed. The rapid combustion did seem to serve one positive function; it slowly began clearing the morning fog away as the ship seemed to come to a near stop, just out of any docked ship's cannon range... or what would be reasonable for cannon range, at least. Fog faded into the background revealing that the larger ship was accompanied by three smaller vessals that all came to a slow down alongside the leader.

On board was a cluster of chaotic organization.

In the midst of all of it, one particular individual sat alongside the rail on deck, pulling out a den den mushi and dialing up. Ringing would ensue on shore with the two who'd called the previous day.

Sellick and Damian had woken up in the early hours of the morning, as was their normal routine. They set the den den mushi on the bedside table of their hotel room. Then they set about their morning exercises and preparations for what looked to be a day worth of heavy combat. They were both finishing getting ready when a sound rang through the otherwise silent room.

Ring ring ring ring. Ring ring ring... click!

Sellick answered the expected call with a even look on his face.
"This is Captain Havrick."

"Good morning, Captain. We'll be landing shortly at the main docks," the voice on the other end stated simply. "This is going to be a fun landing, I think. I'd love for you to be there to see it."

Sellick blinked once at the word fun. He hadn't expected that to be what he heard when waiting fir these orders.
"Alright, we'll depart immediately. Does the Rear Admiral have any specific orders?"

"Commander Torack will brief you once we land and then you'll be taking over command if I'm to understand correctly. I'm not privy to such details but Commander Torack is busy coordinating finer details of the landing at the moment." The voice on the other end explained.

In command.... words Sellick hadn't expected to hear so soon. Although not words he'll refuse without good reason.
"Understood, we will be waiting at the docks in two minutes or less." With that he hung up, the Den Den Mushi eyes closing as the snail went back to sleep.

"Alright brother. Let us be going. The attack is in progress and I need to be there to take command."

Damian blinked rapidly in surprise, but burst out into a wide grin before putting on his helmet.
"Command? That's wonderful news! A just Officer such as yourself deserves to lead the fight against the enemies of the people!" He hefted his sword and shield and stood by the door.

Sellick opened the door and stepped out into the morning light. Their marine coats now hanging off their respective shoulders.
"I thank you for your belief in me brother. Let us be off." With that they began their march to the docks.

Back on the main ship, the phone clicked and Robin stood up, glancing out at the water before he made his way towards the meeting ensuing in the war room, keeping his distance from the main group of officers until he was noticed and only the did he step forward.
"Captain Sellick will be on the docks, Commander. And I'll be ready to leave after I gather up the rest of the supplies. Five minutes tops."

After receiving a curt nod, Robin headed off. His path carried him below deck where the crew kept their belongings.

The white haired girl had barked orders to her to prepare the ship. She knew what had to be done but getting the shaky feeling from her legs was proving to be much more of a challenge than originally thought.

Rena was legitimately terrified of what was going on. There was panic everywhere - the fun loving, raucous feel to the place had been replaced by chaos and anarchy. Was this what pirates were really like? Take away the peaceful times and they descended into mad dogs, chasing anything that moved and attacking it. She saw it from her perch. Some ran to their ships, as she would do but many panicked, also as she would do, but whilst hers was a flight response, theirs was a fight response.

Looting. In the distance it was clear that some pirates were taking what they could from the island that had been so hospitable to them. According to Ferra the marines were coming and she was questioning if they had been right all along. Then Ferra, her new team mate had been held hostage, but before Rena could throw her smoke grenade to allow her to escape, she turned the tables. Not only that but the brutality shown by her to repeatedly beat a man that was clearly subdued had a shiver go up her spine. Blood splattered from his face, a tooth knocked out and then he went limp. Quickly and nimbly, she sped down the mast and ran to the docks.

"Ferra, stop!" she yelled. "If you are going to kill him then do it, but....don't do this..."

Did Rena seriously just suggest that she should kill this man? It was a bluff. She was hoping that Ferra would leave the now unconscious man alone and that a moral compass would guide her - if she had one. Rena's hand gripped her smoke grenade tightly, ready to make an escape should she turn on her. She was scared but.....she just couldn't do nothing.
