The journey back to his dorm had taken a detour or two, though he did finally come back to an empty dorm. He knew Jason had classes and had hoped to enjoy a day of studying in peace. A few more names needed to be looked into and Tim only had a short window before he might lose the nerve. Jason would never allow him to lose the nerve but Tim wanted this situation to be finished quickly, torn off like a band-aid.
Settling into his desk and getting his files together, Tim soon buried himself in tracking and research. The list he had was something to start from, he still had to verify quite a few things before he started hunting out in the city.
So he began looking, and looking, until the sound of the door opening jarred him slightly and Tim watched Jason pass by and dive into his bed. Unsure he if was noticed, if Jason cared to notice him, or if this was some way to call him out, Tim paused for a moment to watch.
Nothing, no indication he’d seen him, Tim turned back to his desk and dove in. He knew he could trust Jason, after all they were privy to the same details.
Tim still couldn’t help feeling a sense of anxiety around Jason, around the lines that had now been crossed and the subsequent things that had been put into motion. The family might implode and he was entirely to blame. Tim would never tell a soul what had happened.
Already he had to get himself mentally prepared to attend the dance, something the students had been chattering on about for days. Some had dates, some were looking to find someone, the whole concept was a bit overwhelming.
‘And Bruce is making attendance mandatory’ Tim thought to himself, somewhat bitterly. Sure he’d had little to no interest in dating, he found the idea exhausting and tedious. In the last fifteen years, no one had caught his attention romantically, Tim was too invested in his own vigilante lifestyle to get bogged down with feelings.
