Magical Michief (For ultimus9)

Lucinde

Catgirl of Doom
The sun rose over the horizon in the city of Ataria. The capital city of Nebia is one that is well known throughout the world for its beauty and for holding it's traditional values through the centuries. It is also home to two of the best Magic schools in the world, training young Magic users for the future. Whether they go to join the army or become leaders somewhere, they are guaranteed to have a job.

One young student went by the name of Elyssa Decker; the oldest of six siblings to the Decker family .Her father is a former general while her mother is a leader of an organization helping young kids all over the world. Elyssa was smart and talented with magic as she was accepted to Mistwood's school.

Mistwood was an all girl's Magic boarding school ran by Mistress Malinda. The school was located just outside the city, surrounded by a forest on one side and the ocean on the other. It had its own dormitory attached to the school where the students slept.

Elyssa woke up to a message from Headmistress Malinda. It read: Pack your bags. Confused, Elyssa woke up and did as she was told, wondering why Malinda wanted her to pack her bags. After getting dressed herself, she took her bags with her to Malinda's office, knocking twice. "Malinda? What's this message about?" She asked walking inside.

"Oh, Elyssa my favorite student!" Malinda turned around in her chair. "How are you doing? Fine? Good. I have an important mission for you." Malinda smiled and waltzed over to her, giving her a light hug. "And I just know you'll be perfect, for I can't trust this mission to just anyone."

"Um..." Elyssa said a little worried. "What kind of mission exactly?"

"You're going to infiltrate Ironwood school. Uh uh uh! Before you refuse!" Malinda snapped her fingers and duct tape appeared on Elyssa's mouth. she waved her hands about as an illusion spell was cast. Elyssa watched as a twirling magic light wrapped around her, and when it was gone, she was left there....except looking like a boy. Malinda took the duct tape off.

"Mistress Malinda, you can't be serious!" Elyssa raised her voice and covered her mouth. Even her voice had changed. This was a high level illusion spell, one that even Elyssa can't master yet.

"But I am! I need to find out what my brother is doing over there. Why his school keeps winning the tournament every year." Malinda's brother was the Head Master at Ironwood's all boys school. "Now, you're name is going to be Eric. During the day, you will look like you are now. However, at night, the spell with wear off and you'll be back to normal. This spell will last for the rest of the school year until the tournament." Malinda gave Elyssa a stern look. "If my brother finds out about this, I cannot stop whatever punishment he will deal to you. Do you understand? Do not let anyone find out about this."

"But-!" Elyssa was about to interject when Malinda clapped her hands.

"Good! Now, be good over there Elyssa!" With a press of a button, the schools teleport system activated and Elyssa was teleported out of the school, and close to Ironwood.

Elyssa loved Malinda, but not when she starts acting cynical like that. Well, it happened all the time and Malinda always caused some kind of mischief for her students to clean up, but she was a cood head mistress to them and she cared about them. Elyssa had an extra bag at her side and in it held her dorm number at Ironwood, and her schedule of classes. Of course, she would be taking her water magic classes. That didn't change at least.

Elyssa was just nervous about this. Since she was being forced to do this, she sighed and headed towards Ironwood. She had no idea how this whole mission would go. She was almost half expecting to be found out right away. Walking into the campus was intimidating. she gulped a bit, and tried to find the dormitories. she could only hope that she didn't have to share a room, or it would make things even more awkward.

Alex was practicing air magic. He was sitting in the center of his own personal whirlwind, trying to figure out how long he could hold it. His last time had been four minutes, but he'd been asleep for two days after it. But anything for the tournament right? The headmaster had been on his case since the thing had been announced.

"I know you're a bright kid, so I'd like you to double your magical studies, especially in combat."

The only reason he hadn't tuned out the headmaster was because he loved fighting. Magical or physical, it was combat that made this whole school worth it. Oh, and pissing off fire mages. That was fun.

After three minutes of concentration, he saw some other guy, supposedly new, coming up the hill. He nixed the spell and stood up, brushing himself off.

Elyssa, or Eric in this form, had his face in the schools map trying to find the Dorms. This schools layout was way different from her schools, so she didn't know how to make heads or tails on the map. She sighed as she gave up, deciding to ask someone for help. Looking around, she saw someone ahead of her.

"Uh...hey. Um, I'm new and need help finding where the Dorms are at?" She said to him.

Alex did a double take. "Dorms? Didn't you take the tour? They're supposed to show you everything." He cracked his neck a little. "Couldn't be bothered, huh? Same here." He started walking along the path, waving.

"This way. Don't go into the forest. They've got oreads."

"I didn't know there was a tour." Elyssa admitted, as it was true. "This is my dorm number too." She showed him the dorm she was assigned to. She could only hope it was a room to herself, and she didn't have to share with anyone. "My names El-Erick by the way." she mentioned, almost revealing her real name.

"Uh huh," he said, looking at the number. Looking at it again. Shoot. "451?" he said, as if saying it out loud might disperse it. "That's my room. No one told me anyone'd be coming." He shook his head violently. "Eleric? Who names their kid Eleric? Were they high or something?" Alex grinned inwardly. Time to see what school he belongs to.

"Uh Eric. I mean Eric, sorry." She said quickly feeling embarrassed already. she didn't know how to interact with guys, since she was used to going to all girls schools. When she said that was his dorm room as well, she felt terrible. How was she supposed to hide this secret if she had to share a room? Why couldn't Malinda try to get her a private room?

"Eric. Okay, Eric sounds better." But no read on a branch of magic. He gestured to a tall building made of smooth granite brick. "The dormitories. I'm rather certain that you know how to find your way around a dorm, right? Good." He walked inside, using the air to lift him up a small elevator shaft. A perk of being in the Air school.

"Right..." She said and took her bag to actually ride the elevator. She picked the 4th floor, as the first number of the dorm room was a 4. That's how it was at her school, so she hoped it was the same here. When she got off, she walked until she found the actual room and saw him there. "So yeah... guess we're...roomies huh?"

"Roommates. Yes. That we are." he opened the door, going directly to his desk and sitting down. He spun around once, then came to face Eric. "So, don't just stand there with your mouth gaping. Sit down." He turned back around, beginning to start his homework. He had to at least keep up appearances if he wanted to enter the tournament.

She had almost expected a boys room to be messy and cluttered, but this was actually neat and somewhat organized. "I'm just gonna take my stuff to my room first." She said and went to what she guessed was her room. It seemed empty. She went inside and hated what it looked like. With a sigh, she closed the door and started to work her magic. She decided to cast an illusion spell to make the room look so much better for her own eyes. If anyone else had walked it, it would look it hadn't changed. She unpacked her things and went back at.

"So uh...I never got your name." She said to him as she sat down.

"Alex. Alex Jadranko. Quintessential air mage, slacker extraordinaire." He continued writing. "Classes are done for today, so you can sleep. You'll probably need it. There's a tournament coming up soon, so people might be overly excited to you. Other than that, it's your regular magic school." He finished a sentence with a flourish. "So. What branch of magic you follow?"

"Yeah, I know about the tournament." She started to say. "My sister is at the girls school." She was totally making this up. It seemed like a good lie. She leaned back a bit. "I follow the water branch, so I'm good at illusions and making potions." She said, which was completely true. She knew that boys don't typically follow the water branch too much, so it must have seen a little odd.

"And what branch does your sister follow?" He said, scribbling down another paragraph. "You might end up facing her. According to some guy in the 1500s, if you pit siblings against each other, some kind of magical conflux happens. That'd be fun, huh?"

"I actually...had no idea about that." She admitted. "And uh, she follows water as well. Just like our mother." She said. She couldn't help but just look around the room. There was a bathroom with a shower in the dorm, but she couldn't come out looking like a girl here. She would have to sneak off deep inot the night to take a shower. That was going to be fun. She sighed at the thought.

"Yeah.. well-" Alex was losing interest in the conversation. " - I follow air, but neither of my parents are magical. I get into a lot of fights. I like messing with people's heads. But do you know why I'm still here?" He turned around, narrowing his eyes.

"Um...why?" She asked him. She got a little uncomfortable when he narrowed his eyes a bit. Did he somehow see through this illusion or was she just freaking out over nothing at this point. She guessed she was overly freaking out.

Instead of answering, he went back to his bed, flopping onto it. "Wake me up tomorrow. I'm bored. Classes tomorrow are going to be hell." He began to sleep, snoring softly.

Not the most polite of responses.

Hey, I didn't want a roommate in the first place!

"O-oh okay." She watched him go and sighed. She almost felt like she wasn't wanted as a room mate here. She stood up and went to her room to wait until nightfall so she could sneak off to shower. While she waited, she got her diary out and started writing in it. Talking about how this 'mission' of hers was probably going to fail.

As the night went on, and the sun went down, she saw the illusion spell wearing off. She looked like her regular girl self and sighed in relied. "Thank you Malinda for this at least." She whispered. If she had to stay like a boy for the whole time, she'd probably go insane. She waited a few more hours to make sure it was safe. She then put on a baggie hoodie, grabbed herself a towel and her shampoo and stuff, and headed to the bathroom.

"What if he hears? Or sees me as I walk out?" She wondered, fear creeping in. She took out her map and saw the bathroom/locker room area in the dormitory. "Might be safer there..." She headed out and towards that area. She looked around to make sure everything was good before getting undressed, closing the stall, and taking her shower. It felt good after a long day like this. She finished up soon, got dressed, and headed back to her dorm to go to bed. And hopefully she would be prepared for tomorrow...her first day of classes here.

Alex opened his eyes, and basked in the pre-morning grind sense of I-have-no-idea-what-happened-yesterday. Rolling over, he sighted his clock, which had just happened to read 7:30 am.

Shoot.

He sprang up, changing into a fresh set of clothing in forty seconds. He moved a stack of books into his backpack, wincing when he heard them fell. When he saw Eric sleeping, he had an idea. Sure it was cruel, but it was really funny.

He ducked under his bed, retrieving a pair of cymbals his previous roommate had left behind. He banged them together over his head, yelling - "WAKE UP! WAKE UP! THE SUN'S SHINING, I WANT FOOD, SO WAKE UP!!!"

She jumped so high off her bed from the loud cymbal sounds and Alex screaming. She screamed and covered her ears. "What the hell was that for?!" She shouted at him.

The illusion spell was back up as morning rose and she looked like Eric again. There was a loud ringing in her ears from that, and it might not go away.

Alex set down the cymbals and laughed loudly. "Sorry, sorry, I just had to. Too easy, you know?" He cracked his neck. "So! What do you got for your classes?" he asked, still in a good mood from his prank.

She shot him a look as she say up in her bed. She still saw her illusion in her room. She made it look gorly only to her, so if he was jere and mot phased, then it had worked.

"Well..." she took her schedule out. It was almost the same as her old schedule. "I have a Potion class first, then I have a couple of advanced illusion spell classes after that. Then advanced water technique classes."

Alex ducked over, peering at the list. "Dang. No combat stuff? You water people are weird..." He ducked away again. "My classes are Advanced Air Magic, then four straight blocks of combat. I'm learning how to make storm clouds." He seemed to consider something, then leaned over conspiratorially. "Rumor has it Mistwood's got it pretty bad this year, so they sent a spy. I'm going to start looking tomorrow, y'know?" He grinned. "You should help. Even if you follow Water.."

She almost froze when he mentioned the spy thing. How did he know? How did anyone know? She had to tread carefully around here then. "A-A spy?" She said and cussed herself out in her head when she stuttered. She remembered Malinda's words, how she couldn't help her if Elyssa got caught. She had no idea what kind of punishment she would get if she got caught. "That's ridiculous, why would they send a spy?" She replied. "They got some pretty good fighters there."
