  Appearance Description: When one first looks at Aqua, they’ll notice just how pristine and put-together she is. Her face is smooth and free of blemishes, her clothes are freshly pressed, and her hair is neatly combed and styled. Despite her shortcomings in other domestic fields, Aqua DID have to groom herself growing up, and with her parents placing a strong emphasis on the way she looked, this look comes naturally to her.
  
  In terms of her style, Aqua definitely has a tendency towards preppier clothes. She loves wearing pleated skirts, vests, mary janes, ties and ribbons, and cute hats. She tends to pick out her outfit the night before and steam it before setting it out, a habit that she’s retained from her childhood.

  Mancer Class: Aqua is a Caster Hydromancers, one of many in her family.
  Focus: Aqua’s focus is a staff that has been passed down through the generations of her family, known as the Lotus Staff. It seems to be especially attuned for use by Hydromancers, and Aqua has to rest it in water overnight in order to cast magic at its highest capacity.
  Abilities:
  * Aqua’s most prominent and frequently used magical spell is her ability to create clouds of healing rain. She can only create clouds that are big enough to heal one person at a time. If everyone had HP bars, one cloud could heal about 1/3 of it.
  * On the offensive front, Aqua is able to create Bubble Bombs. She can alter the size that they are, though the bigger they are, the fewer of them she can summon.

  Personality/Backstory: As a member of the prestigious Mizutani family of Mancers, Aqua grew up living in the lap of luxury in the Kingdom of Alexandria. From a personal chef, to a team of maids, a tutor, and a nanny, the Mizutani family had every single need taken care of. Aqua never so much as had to lift a finger— the Mizutanis would much rather spend their time being productive.
  
  With all of this at her finger tips, Aqua is a very well-read, knowledgable girl. She’s extremely familiar with the world and dreams of being able to travel to every single region. She prides herself on her intelligence, and is always happy to provide a fact check or offer advice to those who need it. But she tries not to be cocky about it. She was always off-put by her parents’ pride and reverence of their status and wealth in comparison to their staff, so she remains humble.
  
  While Aqua may be intelligent, she’s also completely lacking in the domestic department. She’s never had to clean or cook for herself, and as such is terrible in both departments. She’s extremely messy and unorganized, and could burn a salad if she tried. She’s also quite clumsy and forgetful, often leaving her glasses at home (and sometimes just straight up breaking them on accident) or forgetting to rest the Lotus Staff in water overnight, leaving her magic less powerful.
  
  From the moment she could walk, Aqua was being prepped by her family to become a Hydromancer. In 200 years, every single Mizutani had been a Hydromancer, so of course Aqua was going to be one as well. Aqua was an only child, so there were a lot of expectations on her shoulder. She would be the sole inheritor of the Mizutani name, and as such she had to represent the family well. It was a foregone conclusion that she would become a Senior Mancer.
  
  Unfortunately, Aqua didn’t get much of a say in this. Most people in her position would either crumble under the pressure, or become an arrogant, stuck-up bitch. Instead, she picked the secret third option: become an overly-polite, too-nice-for-her-own-good doormat. Growing up, Aqua was very well aware of the expectations that her family had for her. She loved her family very dearly, and because of her love for them, the last thing she wanted to do was disappoint them.
  
  Aqua has always had a bad habit of taking more on her plate than she could handle. Whether it be practicing more magic, doing errands for people, or taking up jobs that other Mancers couldn’t, Aqua is willing to do anything to keep others from being upset or disappointed with her. It hasn’t happened yet, and Aqua is too scared to find out what it’s actually like.
  
  She’s been working as a Mancer in Alexandria now for about two years and is quite well-liked among the members of the Guild there. She has a reputation for being reliable and a hard-worker (though that opens the door for some of the more irresponsible Mancers to pawn off their jobs on hers.) She was ecstatic when she was told that she was a part of the Celebration Crew, and she can’t wait to help the kingdom prepare for the Bicentennial Celebration!

  Name: Alcaeus “Tiger Eye” Aurelian.

  Appearance Description:
  Alcaeus is relatively tidy and takes pride in his appearance, though can become disheveled when excited. He wears his father’s reading glasses when studying, though he does not need them- this is both out of sentimentality and because he likes the way they look.
  He wears 2 outfits, one is a casual burgundy dress-suit and the other is a more practical adventuring outfit. He has a few uneven scars on his back, legs and hands due to a mining accident. The soles of his shoes have multiple holes cut so he can absorb from the ground at any time. He never used to wear shoes outside of his various jobs, but has found his hole method works well. Has a muscular build from both working various physical labor jobs and training himself for years, as his physical strength ties into his geomantic abilities.

  Mancer Class: Enchanter Geomancer.
  
  Focus: The piece of raw tiger’s eye crystal around his neck. When he absorbs any kind of mineral it is channeled through this crystal, transforming it while he is transformed. (Example, absorbing stone will transform the necklace into stone.) Because the crystal is always touching his skin he can absorb from it at any time. Alcaeus finds it easier to channel his powers through raw minerals/stones etc over refined materials such as concrete or smelted metal but it's not impossible, it just takes more energy and concentration. He uses this particular piece of tiger eye because of its personal meaning, finding his emotions can flow through it stronger, enhancing his abilities. He can use his powers without it but they are far weaker and less focused, and takes a lot more energy. If he overexerts himself without a focus he’ll become sick and will need a lot of time to recover.
  
  Ability 1: Absorption - 110%.
  This ability is the base for Alcaeus’ knowledge into his powers. On skin contact with any stone, mineral or crystal Alcaeus can absorb it’s essence and transform himself into it. The downside of this ability is that he can’t move any of his transformed parts, thus he only transforms parts of himself instead of fully. To try and counteract this, Alcaeus decided to focus his energies on making the absorption as strong as he possibly could, strengthening both it and himself beyond the power of the mineral used.
  
  Ability 2: Geomantic Strength.
  Because of his roots in Geomancy, Alcaeus naturally finds stone/minerals/crystals easier to interact with than most people. Lifting boulders and throwing them, breaking rock with his fists, crushing stones into powder between his fingers etc. These are all feats he is capable of due to his affinity with the element. These do require a lot of strength, but when transformed these feats are much easier to perform. His whole family has this trait (to varying degrees), as do many Geomancers.
  
  Ability 3: Stone Steps.
  Can walk up vertical surfaces if they are made of stone/mineral/crystal etc due to the holes cut into the soles of his shoes (specifically so he can absorb from surfaces he is standing on). By utilizing his absorption power he can essentially “meld” to the surface, taking slow steps by melding then un-melding his feet. With practice he’s managed to increase his speed to almost regular walking pace.

  Not long after Alcaeus was born, his father began showing signs of an incurable illness. With what little time they had left together, his mother and father decided that they would spend as much time as they could with their children, teaching them and loving them with all their hearts. These are fond memories for young Alcaeus, the free-spirited child that he was, always getting into mischief and exploring the mountainside forests of his childhood home with his siblings. Leaping into danger without a second care, these were the times he felt the most alive.
  When his father passed, he clung onto this attitude in an attempt to run away from his feelings, until he one day put a sibling in danger and got them injured due to his recklessness. Filled with guilt, he decided that he would shelve that part of his personality, never to hurt anyone close to him again.
  In the following years, Alcaeus decided he would take responsibility for his family and do his best to take care of them, due partially to his guilt but also due to his mother growing weaker with age. He felt it was on his shoulders to step up- taking on multiple jobs to ease their financial burden. He then would spend all his free time with his siblings; He would cook for them, play with them, even school them, regardless of their similarities in age, spending many restless nights learning things the day before he taught them.
  He did his best to be the reliable big brother- showing no weakness nor recklessness, being someone he felt his parents could be proud of.
  Alas, as time passed the burden on his shoulders grew, eventually collapsing Alcaeus under its immense pressure. At 19 he fell ill and got caught in a mining accident, scarring his body permanently in various places. He would recover in time, due to his siblings taking on his burdens in his stead. His mother spent all her time with him as he healed, thanking him for everything she was too weak to do. His siblings realized just how much Alcaeus had been holding onto to make sure they had everything they needed, and together with their mother told him he had done enough. More than enough. His youngest sister, the scar on her face a constant reminder of his youthful recklessness, pleaded him to accept the part of himself he’d shut away. She never blamed him, and felt guilty herself for making him hide who he truly was. They all asked him to finally consider his own dreams and feelings over theirs and through their words Alcaeus began to cry, promising he would never scare them like that again.
  And over time, Alcaeus began to accept the parts of himself he'd shut away. After a (happily) tearful goodbye to his family, he set out to study at the Mancers Academy in the Kingdom of Alexandria, to fulfil his dreams of adventure and exploration.
  Though he still feels responsibility for others in his care and gladly would take on their burdens best he can, he would make sure that in doing so he wasn’t hurting those he was trying to help. He still has a long way to go, but Alcaeus is no longer chained by his previous restrictions and aims to explore his more joyful and free feelings as he ventures into the unknown and beyond at the Academy.

  Fun Facts:
  
  • The tiger eye around his neck is from a larger crystal, each of his siblings have a shard themselves. As Geomancers, it is both a symbol of their connection and a way to tell if any of the family is in danger. If cracks appear, it means something has happened to one of them and in an emergency the crystals can be used to find one another.
  • He takes pride in his appearance because of his father, a man who was always pristine and proper- even while dying.
  • Every morning his father would prepare a fresh cup of tea for his mother, so Alcaeus tried to do the same after his father’s passing. Over time he learned to make a half-decent cup of tea but it wasn’t very good to begin with. His mother always drank it to the last drop, regardless of it’s quality.
  • Picked up smoking as a teenager working in the mines. Hid it from his siblings until they discovered it during his recovery period.

  Focus:
  Quen uses a pair of thin leather gloves to focus his cryomancy. The thin material allow for Quen to retain a keen sense of touch with his weapons, an absolute necessity for his careful art. Unlike most Mancers his focus is impersonal. He has no attachment to the garments, only using them because he has to use something as a focus. This may contribute to his relatively weak magical ability.
  Appearance:
  Quen is a pale boy with shock white mid length hair and dark intense eyes. He has a thin face and a straight nose, as well as a beauty mark beneath his left eye. He often has little or no expression on his face, giving off a cold and aloof feeling, no matter the true state of his feelings. However, his eyes tend to glimmer if he gets particularly excited. His body is toned from years of physical conditioning, despite his slight frame. He often wears loose fitting clothes that allow for easy movement, but has a soft spot for streetwear when he is free from any other duties. He's never seen without a pair of sneakers on, even in inappropriate instances.

  Personality:
  Quen often maintains an aloof and serious personality, especially when dealing with people he doesn't know. He rarely loses his temper, managing to keep a cool head even when provoked. This works in his favor when he is dealing with the intense situations that Mancer's so frequently find themselves in, but often works to his detriment in social situations. Quen has a tendency to close himself off from others, a habit he formed as a child, and often blames himself for his lack of social success.
  
  Despite this, Quen has a compelling sense of morality. He can't ignore when innocent people are put in harm's way, and detests cruelty over all. He is quick to act and quick to leave, typically uncomfortable with receiving any kind of praise or reward, although he will insist it's not out of humility and that he would rather not be bothered.
  
  For a Mancer, Quen is incredibly uninterested in his magical abilities. He sees them as nothing more than a tool to improve his swordsmanship, and neglects improving his proficiency with his abilities unless he sees a clear benefit to his effectiveness in battle. Many of his peers at the academy assumed he had little potential considering his marks, but Quen was never bothered by his grades. After all, he never lost a duel.
  
  Backstory:
  Quen's parents were the typical Sapphirans: languid, gentle, and very loving. Quen was anything but the typical Sapphiran. He was born incredibly pale, with shock white hair, and never changed no matter how much time he spent in the intense coastal sun, and he was anything but languid. While others his age were relaxing and enjoying the slow warm days of their coastal home, Quen was antsy, always looking for something else to occupy his time. His appearance, combined with a quiet demeanor, made him an outcast among his peers. Quen didn't seem to mind, at least he didn't say he minded.
  
  Quen was content to live a quiet life at home with his parents, until one day his estranged uncle, a swordsman named Virna, came to visit. Quen was enthralled by him. Despite his kind and generous nature, Quen could see that his uncle was everything he wanted to be: tempered, strong, capable. It wasn't hard for his parents to notice his interest, and after some discussion, it was decided that Quen would spend the summer with his uncle. His parents figured it would be a good outlet for his energy, and who knows, maybe Virna could give him some pointers on talking to people his age. But one summer became through the winter, then a year, then two, and before long Quen had devoted himself fully to learning the art of swordsmanship from his uncle.
  
  His days were spent in a combination of intense physical conditioning, careful practice of technique, and quiet tempering of the soul. It was difficult, harder than anything Quen had ever done in his life. He loved it. He would have gladly continued to train under Virna until he could finally call himself a genuine master, but he was interrupted when his Mancer abilities manifested at age 17. Even then he tried to ignore them and continue training as if they didn't exist, but Virna wouldn't allow him to deny the potential he possessed. At his uncle's insistence, Quen enrolled in the Mancer Training Academy at 18, setting aside his training in favor of what he saw as a bump on his road to mastery.
  
  His time at the academy was mostly wasted, although he wouldn't have described it that way. Manifesting his rudimentary control of ice seemed sufficient enough to him, even adjusting his fighting style to utilize conjured blades made of ice. He left the academy with middling grades and no connections, committing himself to a year of steady work as a Junior Mancer as a promise to his uncle. Now he counts down the days of his promised year before he can return home to Sapphira and show the old man what he's learned.

  Cold Steel
  Quen's primary application of his cryomancy is condensing and freezing the moisture in the air to create razor sharp blades of ice. These can take any form depending on his need, from small and subtle knives, to quick and agile rapiers, or even powerful hulking greatswords. While these blades are incredibly sharp and effective in battle, they are also very brittle and shatter quickly, often times in the midst of battle. Quen has grown very comfortable creating new blades on the fly, adapting to his weakness and creating a quick, precise, and flashy fighting style.
  
  Quen's cryomancy relies on water sources to freeze. He typically prefers to use the moisture in the air so that his blades can be generated anywhere, but will use another source, like a river or pool, if it is necessary and available. Naturally, he is significantly weakened by a lack of humidity and/or other water source.
  
  Shattering Shield
  Quen's primary defensive ability. Quen creates a thin barrier of ice millimeters from his skin in anticipation of incoming damage, which defends him from a significant amount of damage for only a single blow. This allows Quen to get in close, where he is most effective, and take one hit with little or no damage. However, the shield shatters after any single blow, so even a weak attack will deplete his defenses. In addition, the shield takes time to reform, and requires Quen to disengage from his opponent in order to properly focus on it.

  • Quen is ambidextrous. This made his training a massive pain on his uncle, who had to get used to fighting an opponent who could change stances on a whim.
  • He has a difficult time understanding hand gestures. Even a thumbs up confuses him. The basic ones have been explained to him multiple times, and he understands them on an intellectual level, but when he encounters them in everyday use he just doesn't get it.
  • When he was 7 his father forced him to hold a starfish they found on the beach. Quen was so thoroughly disgusted that he developed a fear of starfish that still haunts him to this day.

  Fun Facts: Kal designed and sewed every inch of his outfit. His magic works best with items he is intimately familiar with, thus he tends to craft them himself.
  Description: A confident smirk adorns his carefully kept features. A lot of effort goes into looking as effortless as he does. His hair is constantly slicked back, his eyebrows perfectly symmetrical, his clothes tailor made and never creased. Under it all, the veneer hides the scars of his childhood. Deep marks are left in his arms, torso, and legs. Jagged lines mar his crafted physique.

  Mancer Class: Enchanter
  "Let them strike. They shall soon learn to fear themselves."
  Mirrors reflect images. Earth reflects heat. Shields reflect attacks. The magic of reflection requires an agile mind to wield properly, but it isn't enough to have an imagination, one must also find the ideal form, material, and size of the object to imbue such magic into. Even then, there are the limits of practicality. Perhaps the best thing to reflect a crashing comet is a placid lake, but it isn't like you can carry that around with you. Then there is the limit of number. At present, Kal can only maintain three objects at once. While he has tried many combinations, the set he has settled into at present are as follows:
  
  The mask allows him to send his voice to another location within sight, bouncing it off of the item as though it were the origin. Useful for confounding enemies, speaking with allies, or distracting bystanders, Kal crafted the first version of this in his early years and is the tool with which he is most familiar. Sometimes, all you need is an unexpected distraction to slip away.
  
  The mirror shield reflects an image of what lies behind him, creating a one-way invisible barrier. While useful, being invisible from only one direction limits Kal's options in wide open areas. Worse, moving quickly tends to leave a blurring effect at the edges of what the shield can project. The first version of this was little more than a shard of a mirror but was modified into a shield to act as a physical protection in addition to the visual one.
  
  The sword allows him to reflect himself across a point within three feet of the sword, allowing blows to come from unexpected places and allowing short distance teleportation. Developing this tool was a long, drawn out series of trial and error. Getting used to the necessary timing to be effective with it even more so. While proud of his achievement, Kal often wonders if there isn't a better way to make use of his magic.

  Kal grew up on the outskirts of society. Homeless. Poor. Abandoned. It was a sad day indeed when his luck turned for the better. A gang leader named Neph saw him using one of his petty mirror tricks to steal a small loaf of bread. One horrid beating later and that gang leader had a new lookout, pickpocket, and punching bag. Kal longed to run away from this new life, but he remembered all to well what it was like before. At least now he had food. At least now he had a place to sleep. At least now someone would miss him if he disappeared. It wasn't until he got caught by the city guard that he found out just how little they would care. How quickly he could be replaced. Without the gang, he quickly found himself back in the cells. Petty crime after petty crime. Somehow, they kept finding him. Eventually, he discovered the tracking spell on him and managed to reflect it back to its source. When he did, he found the man he would come to accept as his teacher. His friend. His Grandpa. A few short years later Kalibrex Shorehaven left his town behind. His smile reflecting his hopes for the future.
