In the modern day magic is a well hidden secret. The normal humans have no idea it exists. In order to have magic one must have two things. The spark of magic, which differs from person to person and without which magic couldn't be learned. And a teacher, without whom the spark cannot be turned into a flame.
As such each mage passes their knowledge on to one student, their apprentice. The mages choose their apprentice based off of the power, element, and kind of spark they posses. Mages and their apprentices keep the world safe from demons, monsters, and other things that go bump in the night.
However now the balance of magic is threatening to unravel. Monsters and demons are growing in power and the mages that are there to fight them are few and far between. Humans are beginning to figure out that monsters and magic live in their world. Can the mages council keep magic secret? Can the world even survive these new more intelligent creatures of the darkness.

(Hi guys this rp is set in the modern day. Now there is a pretty clear power scale here

Mages

Apprentice- when a persons magic spark first awakens usually at puberty, they find their teacher they begin their training. This process can take up to 20 years.

Sorcerer- once an apprentice finishes their training they become full fledged sorcerers. Sorcerers are powerful warriors who hunt and slay monsters.

Mage council- Sorcerers who are at the top of their class, and are well respected become members of the mage council these mages are very powerful. Councilors are only elected after 20 years successful Hunter activity.

Monsters

Changelings- When a mages spark first awakens and they do not find a teacher they begin to crave human souls, if they feed on one a slow transformation occurs. During this transition they gain powers based on the monster they are becoming.

Monsters- when a Changeling eats enough souls they complete their transformation. Upon doing so they gain remarkable power, at the cost of their human form.

Demons- when a Monster feeds on the soul of a full fledged sorcerer they become a demon. Demons are capable of using magic in addition to their natural abilities. They are also cruelly intelligent, and usually control lesser monsters.

All of these are playable but I'm not gonna let everyone be a demon or a mage council. Pm me to apply for these positions, I will be accepting 4 Mage councilors and 3 Demons.

I was thinking is it possible for my character to start to become a changeling. But her having having some knowledge of what Is going on. In a desperate urge to keep her humanity feeds of the souls of the monsters/demons. If that is possible.

If not being an apprentice or sorceress will be fine
 
Why not try both?
The only problem I see with that is monsters are stronger than changelings by quite a bit.
 
Maybe start off with Changelings. Then when she starts to change. Her spark turns into a flame. In the end she keeps her human form but also has the ability of a monster.


But then it seems I am borrowing an idea from Bleach with the Vizard's.
 
I suppose it could work but you'd have to find a sorcerer who'd train you. Sparks can't turn into flames on their own.
 
Maybe a sorceress or sorcerer could sleep notice that a Changeling is actually fighting for humanity and trains her. Seeing that if she could a useful ally in fighting the monsters/demons

Name: Miguel Santiago

Age: 278yrs (looks to be in his late twenties)

Gender: Male

Class: Sorcerer

Personality: Miguel is happy and relaxed, very rarely displaying a serious emotion. He drinks, parties, and is generally fun loving. However he is also capable of being quite cruel. As a warrior he is merciless and relentless never faltering or showing fear. Despite this he usually takes a less aggressive stance when dealing with foes he considers to be weak.

Bio: Born long ago in spain, Miguel Santiago is a name that resounds through both mage and monster culture. He was found and trained by the one regarded as the fallen mage, the Necromaster, Lord of he dead. This great dark wizard warped the mind of Miguel and he stood beside his master against the council. However he was easily defeated by councilman Ragna, but was saved due to Ragna seeing the manipulation that The Necromaster had done to Miguel's Magic Spark. Once it was reversed it became all to clear why The Fallen mage had selected Miguel as his sole Apprentice. Miguel was a Vecromancer, a rare wizard who can manipulate life the same way a necromancer manipulates death. Viewing him as a useful weapon against the forbidden school of necromancy the council pardoned him of his crimes, and re-trained him under councilman Ragna. Ever since he got free he seems to be seeking something yet refuses to tell the council what it is...

Powers/Spells:

LifeLink- Life magic- ranged: Miguel creates a Chain of life energy connecting himself to up to five separate targets. This chain lasts for five minutes -1 for each additional target. When Miguel strikes a target who has the lifelink attached to them he gains some of their essence energy, also when Miguel takes damage all lifelinked targets take the same damage. Maximum link range 5 meters. (Must be within this range to initiate link)
Maximum chain length 12 meters. (Once the link is made neither Miguel nor his target can move further than this length from each other.)

Essence Boost-life magic-self/touch: By expending stored essence energy Miguel can boost either his own or another's stats based upon how much essence energy is available.

Essence Web-Life magic- AOE: Miguel creates a thin layer of his own essence energy that will attach to anything that enters the web. Webbed targets begin to slowly leak essence energy which Miguel promptly absorbs. Maximum range 4 meters

Essence spike-Life Magic-Melee: By focusing essence energy into his palm Miguel can unleash a devastating spike of energy that is capable of punching a hole through magic barriers, Steel shields, and even other spells. It's maximum range is 3 meters

Essence Bolt-life magic- ranged: Miguel fires a blast of the essence energy dealing force damage to the target, his most simple spell. Maximum range of 100 meters.

Relationships:
Councilman Ragna: His old Master.
The Necromaster: His first Master.

Extra:
Essence energy: All things have essence, From human beings, to Sorcerers, monsters, demons, changelings, plants, hell even zombies have it. It's a magical force that interconnects things, the very same force that necromancer manipulate to make undead. However A Vecromancer can control and strengthen this energy as opposed to just corrupting it. This energy is what fuels magic, life, and even the spirit. A being that losses all of their essence will cease to exist. This is both Miguel's greatest strength, and his greatest weakness. It is his strength because his spells are unilaterally effective against all foes, yet he can use to much of it and he himself will cease to exist...

That's easily doable. Go ahead and make her if you so choose. The mage I just posted will likely be willing to help.
I have two more characters to post if you would rather wait and chose to join one of them instead.
 
Even though Miguel is pretty much perfect. It seems more logical to wait for you to post your other two characters. Plus it would give me more time to work on mine.

Name: Ragna Valencia

Class: Mage Council

Personality: Ragna is Eccentric to say the least. He seems constantly aloof and space but at the same time never seems to miss a detail. He seems to speak with a default bored tone unless he gets into a combat situation. One thing he does seem to take seriously is the law of secrecy amongst mages. Should someone make the mistake of revealing themselves as a sorcerer he will be the one who answers the call.

Bio: Councilman Ragna is a name that when uttered is often followed by silence. As the world's foremost master of darkness magic and one of the most active members of the council he is quite well known, and well feared. He has sat on the mage council for 400 years and seems to show no signs of wear and tear. He is rumored to have defeated demons in solo combat, brought down armies of monsters, and even to have battled two other members of the council to a standstill. Despite his reputation as a powerhouse and enforcer of the magical laws he is also regarded as fair and has never dished out an unjust punishment.
Powers/Spells:
Darkness Miasma- Dark magic- AOE: Ragna cuts open a right in the air using his hand. From that rift spills a purple fog, this fog will eat away at a person's magical energy weakening their magical defense and if inhaled causes hallucinations. When it comes into contact with skin or eyes it causes them to itch badly. Max range 40 meters

Darkness Ichor-Dark magic- summon: Ragna calls forth a black slime being. It's touch is corrosive and toxic . In addition it is capable of changing it's shape at will. Maximum number 4.

Dark Mirror- dark magic- Summon: Ragna summons a shadow copy of his target complete with the same powers/spells they have. This copy is completely obedient to Ragna.
Max number 3.

Rebound- Dark magic- counter: the moment an attack collides with Ragna he will become cloaked in a shell of darkness. This shell reflects ranged attacks back to sender, and bounces melee attackers away with their own force.

Black bolts- Dark magic- ranged: Ragna unleashes four bolts of black lightning, two from each hand. These bolts deal direct damage to a targets soul and phase through all physical defenses. Range 100 meters.

Ever expanding darkness- Dark magic- AOE: Ragna summons up a cloud of darkness that expands in all directions around him. This causes all senses to be rendered useless. Those within are rendered blind, deaf, they cannot smell, taste ,or even feel.

Relationships:
Old protege- Miguel Santiago
Deceased brother- the Necromaster.
Extra: Ragna is regarded as one of the most powerful mages in history. He is rumored to have met Merlin and fought against one of the last dragons.
Also Ragna does not count for the mage council limit.

Class: Demon

Personality: Balor is a personification of the seven deadly sins. He is full of pride, driven by wrath, inspired by greed, moved by Lust, motivated by Envy, Has a gluttonous appitite for his luxuries, and is slothful enough to have others do the work for him. He is not above any treacherous act or vile deed.

Bio: Six hundred years ago there was a young man born with a special kind of spark. Yet his spark was never awakened, and he was never found. He became a changeling but only for a few months, he was an excellent Hunter and he became a monster quickly. However he became a powerful monster and three Sorcerers were sent to eliminate him. That was the mage councils biggest mistake. The three Sorcerers were promptly devoured and The demon Balor was born. He has spent the past 600 years in solitude, only ever being heard of when the next mage targets him and is never heard from again. Many believe him to be behind the recent increase in monster population.

Powers/Spells:
Demonic speed- Balor's speed is his primary focus. He is quick enough to leave afterimages and traverse nation's in a matter of minutes. This makes it incredibly hard to deal with him.

Demonic strength- All demons are physically powerful, though Balor comes in at the lower end of this spectrum, he is able to lift up to two tons, but when paired with his speed he can yield tremendous impacts.

Demonic regeneration- Balor like all demons is capable of healing form wounds that would otherwise be crippling. He will still die if his head is destroyed but he can regenerate lost limbs and even organs in only a few hours.

Doom blade- Demonic magic- Melee: Balor coats his sword with void energy, and slashed through his target. No physical defense can stop this attack but powerful enough magic can stop the attack.

Tendrils of corruption- Demon Magic- AOE: three yards around Balor become filled with black negative energy tentacles that rip Mana and life from the targets and absorbs it for his self.

Doom cannon- Demon magic- Ranged: Balor concentrates a vast amount of Demonic aura into his hands unleashing a thick beam of destructive energy, no magical defense can withstand this attack though a powerful enough physical defense can

Relationships: N/A

Extra: this demon doesn't count against the available spots but he will be a relevant member of he Demon Lord's coalition.

Well they are all done now I figured I'd make a powerful mage and a demon to show the difference in spells and powers.
