Cassidy and Jade​

Cassidy propped her feet up on the back of the seat, she quickly looked at her phone when Eric replied. She let out a sigh once again, it was depressing to know someone who dislikes her so much could cause such a bad thing to happen. She looked over at her father, she knew he loved her, but she didn’t know if he’d send her away if Jade wanted her to be gone.

“My studies are going good, the usual high school stuff…..” She wanted to mention about Romeo and having her first crush. But there were two reasons she could not mention him, one being he was the type of father who did not want his daughter to have a boyfriend and the other reason being Romeo worked for one of her uncles and so he would probably get annoyed about that.

“Oh high school…. I remember my high school days! All the boys went absolutely crazy for me!” Jade said, causing Cassidy to nearly laugh, she couldn’t even imagine Jade getting all the guys. “So, Cassi! Do you have a boy you like?” Cassidy scowled at the question, she knew the question was out of selfishness, maybe to get in trouble. “Not at all! Daddy is the only guy I need in my life!” She said in a charming voice, as the two shared dirty looks at one another.

Ariana rubbed her temples with her fingers and only barely managed to suppress a groan. It was barely morning and already there was a new missing persons, the son had called the police asking where his daddy was and that he was hungry. Currently the child was in protective services, after all one could never be to careful when dealing with the mafia. She stifled another groan at how it seemed that everywhere she turned there was another dead end filled with washed up bodies. Standing she went to get more coffee, it was going to be a long day.

Kaden narrowed his eyes when Jade mentioned something about her and boys. "Yeah... right." Then he shot a wide smile at Cassidy in response to her answering the question about what boy she liked. "That's my girl!"

They would soon be at the casino. As Kaden pulled up to the entrance, he could see dazzling, bright crimson letters that read "The Crimson Rose", and under it was a tagline that Kaden had created himself "The next petal might just be your last!". As Kaden stopped the car, he looked at Cassidy and Jade seriously. "Okay, you guys know the routine. No dilly dallying, go straight to my office; the big room overlooking everything else. No stopping at any of the gambling tables, no stopping to talk to any of the dancers or servers, no stopping to look at any of the bright lights. That clear? I'll meet you guys in a moment, just gotta handle some business, you know, the usual housecleaning."

While Kaden was sure nothing bad would happen to his family at the casino, Cassidy was still too young to be exposed to such... unsavory influences, especially with all of the 'extracurricular activities' he had set up at the casino.

Walter woke up with a start, scared shitless from a nightmare which was recurring. Every night for the last 2 years, it was annoying but he dealt with it. Walter lived in a nice home just north of Central Park. He drove in his Tesla which he couldn't afford but still did, and arrived at the police station, ran to his desk and grabbed his laptop, shouting hello as he did. Cassidy knew the rules all too well, as she stepped out of the car and began to look around. It had been quite some time since she had been able to go to the casino, mostly because every time she tried to get time with her dad, Jade intervened. “Don’t worry, dear! I’ll make sure that she is well taken care of….” Jade went over to kiss Kaden, rolling her eyes as they did and finding herself rushed inside by Jade. Cassidy felt herself getting annoyed, she wanted to spend time with her dad, not with Jade. She went even let Cassidy say hello to Jack, which annoyed her even more and she pulled her arm back.

“Stop that! You’re hurting me! Plus, daddy can’t see us now, so you can stop pretending to be a good stepmother!” Jade let go out of sheer frustration, pointing her finger at Cassidy and quietly began to threaten her. “I don’t care how many people like you or want to protect you, I swear I will send you way if you keep causing me trouble!” With a growl, Jade made her way in the direction that was Kaden’s office, leaving Cassidy behind.

Scowling, she disobeyed her father which didn’t happen very often and instead ran into the women’s bathroom hiding out as she just could not take any more of her stepmother. After a few minutes, she walked out and there were a lot of people, it kind of made her nervous. She walked in the direction that she thought was where her father’s office was, but she was lost and kind of scared. “Jack, I got upset with my stepmom and…. I can’t find my way to the office…. It kind of scary in here…. Can you help me? But don’t tell my daddy….” She texted....

Jack winced when he saw how Cassidy was being mistreated but was still surprised to her her text. He sent her an affirmation text as well as a vow to keep it a secret, and asked if somebody had seen her, after a few times he was given her werabouts and sped walked over to her. Arriving to her location he saw immeaditly how shaken she was and called out softly. "Hey there Cassi.You ok?" He walked slowly over to her, not wanting to give any reason to startle her.

Kaden tightened his grip on the steering wheel of the car as he saw Jade pull Cassidy away from him. He had just about had enough with her mistreatment of his... no, their daughter. Alas, he was in public, and it wouldn't do to bicker with his wife while at his place of business.

Like a actor arriving at a blockbuster movie premier, Kaden stepped out of his car. He straightened his suit jacket and brushed a piece of imaginary dust off of his shoulder as he gave his keys to the valet. The valet was a petite woman dressed in a deep crimson business suit, the standard uniform for all of the staff at the Crimson Rose. "Try not to scratch it this time." He said as he dropped the keys into the woman's hand.

"Come on now, we both know I only scratch when I want too." The valet said as she smack Kaden on the butt and got onto the car, beginning to drive it into the parking lot. "I thought I told you about touching at work?! That's sexual harassment!" He yelled, but the valet payed no attention as she drove into the parking lot, out of view. "Jesus, I need more discrete staff."

As Kaden walked into the building, all of the staff stopped what they were doing, saying "Hello, Boss."

"Yo! Guys, things are looking good, I like the hustle. Remember, we gotta have everything in place for the big party, later. You guys can't mess this up, remember that. In fact, if things go good enough, all of you will be receiving a 100% increase in your next paycheck, you make me money, I make you money."

All of the staff responded affirmatively. Kaden began to smile as he began to walk again. "Good. Now everyone get back to work!"

As he continued to walk, however, he was looking for other employees, but not those native to the casino. He was looking for members of the Cremisi Crime Syndicate. He had to discuss what had happened this morning with his special little guest. "Where the hell is Jack, Dorothy, and Eric?" He mumbled to himself.

Cassidy happily greeted Jack, wrapping her arms around him and hugging him tightly. “Jack! I’m so glad to see you! I’m so sorry that I ran off like that, it’s just….” Cassidy felt like going on and on about Jade, but what good was it since she’s done it so many times. “Can you help me get my father’s office? I’m afraid if I’m not there, he will not bring me here anymore!” She said, Cassidy love being able to come and spend time with her father, if she lost that it would make her feel horrible.

Jack gently wrapped his arms around the girl in a warm hug and nodded at hearing her request. "Of course, this place can be pretty crazy no matter the time. I still get lost in here sometimes and I visit here like everyday." He rambled on, hoping that a steady supply of chatter would ease the girl as he lead her back to the office. "Oh and if your father ask, you can say that I kidnapped you." He finished with a smile, he had made sure not to mention that his contract was soon to expire and that was what he was going to talk to the boss about.

Cassidy found herself calming down almost instantly, it was so easy to do because Jack always knew how to make her feel better. He was one of the few people who actually cared about her for more than the fact she was the daughter of the casino owner. She grabbed his hand, looking at him with a bright smile. “Thanks Jack! I owe you big time! So take me to his office!” While they were walking, she began to wonder about something. “Jack…. Can Jade really send me to a boarding school? Do you think daddy would let her?” The thought had been bugging her for the longest time, she looked down and nearly felt like crying. “I was talking about my mom in the car, daddy already doesn’t like to talk about her and even when I do get close enough to him talking about her. Jade always interrupts! It’s so frustrating!”

Jack frowned at her question, he knew that Jade had some power on the boss but even he didn't know how much. Though he was fairly positive that Kaden loved Cassi to much to send her away. He bent down slightly to get closer to her eye level, "now Cassidy, you know you father adores you more than anything. Which means there is no way in hell that he's going to send you off somewhere he can't watch you. Even if he really thought about it, I wouldn't let him. As for why your father doesn't like talking about your mother, I know he hurts bad and misses her. It's hard to think of what you used to have in life and know you can never get it back." Jack couldn't help but wonder how his own parents were doing, last he checked he was still a missing persons.

She put her stuff down on the bar and walked over to him. She took his right arm and put it around her shoulders and lead him to his office. Lorna woke up early like she always did and got dressed ready for work. Before leaving though she turned on the news to see if there was anything happening. Apparently there had been more kidnappings and man had gone missing and his little son was looking for him. Lorna squeezed the glass up that was in her hand and it shattered which broke her glare fro the tv. "Shit" She cleaned up the mess, shut off the tv and headed to work. When she got there it was going crazy. People going back and forth answering phones looking through files people coming looking for daughters, mothers, and even some sons. Lorna went to her desk and sat down. Lorna knew exactly who was to blame but she couldn't get close to him. Not yet. She hadn't mentioned it to anybody because well. Would believe the famous casino owner was a mob boss. She never really speaks to the Chief of police but sometimes she wondered if he knew more then he let on. Whatever it was clear these people were no help. She needed someone close to the man if she wanted to get to him.

Merui had been up all night drawing out characters for her new comic idea she had. She didn't go to bed until one in the morning. She was in such a deep sleep she didn't even hear alarm go off. She slowly woke and looked towards window as the sun shined through. She then sat up happily and stretched out her arms with a big yawn. She then slowly looked towards clock to see that it was past time to get up and she was going to be late. "Oh how nice." She said sleepily. ".....!!!! WHAT?!" She picked up her clock and looked at it again. "No no no no no! I'm going to be late!" She jumped out of bed ran to the bathroom hoped in the shower then threw her waitress uniform on. "PAIN! I"M LEAVING" She had no idea if Pain was even home she was rushing around the place like a chicken with her head cut off. She grabbed her coat and rushed out the door and headed towards the casino.

When she made it there she stop for a moment to catch her breath. "Ok as long as no mangers see me coming in late I'm all good." She breathed ready to make a run for it. "Alright here I go!" She dashed in. While she was hurrying to the eating area she knocked into someone's shoulder. "Sorry sir!" She said looking back at the man. Then suddenly she tripped falling flat on her face. "...ow" And of course she just had fall right in front one the managers. The woman crossed her arms and started tapping her foot as she looked down at Merui. "Merui...Please tell me you did not just get here." Merui gave a nervous laugh. "I didn't just get here?" I'm so dead. She thought to herself.

Cassidy looked at him carefully as he got down to her level, she bit her lip feeling a little ashamed in herself that she didn’t have more faith in her dad. As for her mom, she knew it still hurt him, but she wanted to know more about the person who was her mother. “You’re right Jack…. Daddy would never send me away…. I understand he’s hurting, I’ll try to be more patient when it comes to the subject of my mother…..” She saw the office not too far away, Cassidy turned away and waved her hand. “Thanks, Jack! You best get back to my dad before you get into trouble….”

Walking into the office, she saw Jade talking away with someone who worked there. Cassidy just plopped herself in a chair and texted Romeo. “Hey, what a day so far! My step-mom is being a real bitch!” She chuckled at herself using such language, but it was just Romeo.

Paine never thought she'd be back in New York, yet here she was, now a full grown woman at the age of twenty-seven. She looked out through the window of her cab, seeing each vehicle passing by her. Her window was rolled down just slightly, enough to let her smoke in the back seat of the cab. Her gaze was somber, morbid even. Her past isn't any worse than any other person, so she wouldn't cry or feel pity for herself. That just wasn't her style. Even if she was alone against a cold, unforgiving world, she still held herself up to higher standards just like most of the population. All she knew was that she had one thing to do in her life, and that was to interfere with the Mafia and the police. A small smirk formed at the thought as an amused look gleamed in her dark orbs. Things will soon get interesting for the three brothers~

With her luggage in hand, she let the cab drive away as she looked at the towering apartment building above. Merui. It had been a long time since she had seen her childhood friend. When she moved away, she kept in touch with her best friend through online means-- so it was almost as if she had never left. If only... Her morbid look soon returned as she pulled out her cell phone, scrolling through her contacts until she saw Merui's name. She then quickly tapped away at the screen, sending her a message that she had arrived. •Hey,I made it to the apartment alright. I'm just going to drop off my things before heading out to the Police Station, alright? And...are you sure it's okay if I stay here with you for a while? I can find somewhere else to stay.• She sighed wearily, putting out her cigarette as she slipped her phone back into her pocket before taking her things inside the large building. She would admit that the apartment complex was nice compared to the ones she had back home, and the place was nicely furnished. She trudged over to the elevator before pressing the button, waiting patiently for the elevator doors to open. She quietly entered when the doors had opened, tailed by three more people seeking a lift. Finally, she got to the right floor before looking for Merui's room number. She scanned the doors with her gaze, looking for it specifically before she sighed in relief. She could finally put down her luggage. She dug into her pocket, pulling out the key that Merui had sent in the mail to her. She unlocked it, and with a twist of the knob, the door opened to reveal a rather nice apartment. She took in a deep breath before exhaling, dragging her things a bit further into the room.

Now, Paine would have given anything to rest up a bit, but she had to get to the police station-- they were expecting her since she was the new transfer. After all, she had been traveling pretty much all night to get there. She told Merui she may or may not be there that night or in the morning-- turned out to be the latter. On the other hand, she was also thrilled, considering that now she could start her game. She would make the brother's lives a living hell for her own amusement. She dug into her bags, looking for something a bit more professional to wear to the station since she wanted to get a good first impression. She changed into them after a bit of wandering in the apartment since she had been looking for the bathroom- not that it mattered since she was alone. With a small inward groan, she headed on back out to head on out to the station. It wasn't too far, thankfully, so she was relieved that one thing so far had come easily for her. Upon entering, she could hear the shuffling of papers and footsteps of police men and women as they busied themselves with investigations and emergencies. She approached the front desk, unsure of who would speak to her first. With slim chances, she may even encounter the police chief first. How amusing.

Kaden was busy scanning the faces of his workers for anyone he knew when he noticed one of his employees had fallen onto their face. He watched in slight amazement as he watched one of the managers berate the employee. Realizing that one of his workers laying on the ground would be bad for business, he quickly darted to the fallen woman's aid, helping her back to her feet. "Dammit, Jessica! You could've at least helped this fine lady off of the ground before you started giving her the third degree..."

As Kaden helped her up, he managed to get a glimpse of a name tag that all of his employees wore, this one read 'Merui'. Letting out a exasperated sign, Kaden brushed some dust off of Merui's face, "Merui, that's a beautiful name! Listen though, I'm sure you're probably having a tough morning, but I'd enjoy it very much if you spent your time anywhere but the ground. It's bad for business, you understand, and I would hate to see that cute face of yours get banged up all because you tripped over your shoelaces, okay? Try to be more careful..."

In the midst of his speech, Kaden noticed he had began to pet the head of Merui like she was some sort of dog. "Sorry, bad habit. You remind me of a puppy I once owned when I was a kid, for some reason."

Suddenly Merui felt herself being lifted up by someone. She looked up to see vey handsome man in a business suit. She blushed slightly as he brushed some dust off her face. Though she really wasn't paying attention to all of this. Her mind was trying to figure something else out.

"Merui, that's a beautiful name! Listen though, I'm sure you're probably having a tough morning, but I'd enjoy it very much if you spent your time anywhere but the ground. It's bad for business, you understand, and I would hate to see that cute face of yours get banged up all because you tripped over your shoelaces, okay? Try to be more careful..."

This guy sure is a smooth talker. She thought to herself. Even though in her mind she acted like it was no big deal she still had a slight blush on her cheeks. She then suddenly felt him patting her head. She didn't think nothing of it until what he said next. "Puppy?...Hey what's that suppose to mean?!.........Wait a min do I know you? You look familiar" Jessica's mouth dropped in complete shock."Merui! This is Kaden Marotti the man that owns the place!" Merui' face went a little pale. "Oh...haha I was kidding of course I knew who you were." She said slowly moving back away from the two. "Now if you excuse me I'm going to get to work before someone decides to fire me." Before anyone could say anything she had dashed towards the eating area. "That girl I swear. Mr. Marotti I think you need better staff then her. I will make sure to get rid of her at once."
