Agotta's mom had arrived after a short amount of time in their family's car. After a swift explanation of what had happened, she carried Agotta into the car, and drove off. She went pick her husband up from work, then drove home, and tucked her daughter into her bed.
Agotta, however, woke up, feeling particularly strange. What had she been doing? Right... She saw that security guard's corpse. Strangely enough, however, she didn't feel the urge to throw up anymore. She didn't feel bad or weak at all anymore. She felt off, but in a way she couldn't describe. She looked around her... She was still at the train station, yes, but she never remembered getting up onto the roof ledge! Looking down, she saw that she was in fact standing on the edge of the roof, but didn't feel any fear of falling. Wait... What was the distance between the ledge and her head? She was WAY taller than usual... Something was definitely off... She tried to put her hand to her chin to think, but instead of the familiar feel of her warm, soft hand, she felt the clanking of metallic yet soft feathers against her hard... beak...? She looked at her arm to see a wing where it should be, and glanced at the other to see the exact same sight. She gasped in shock, only to hear some kind of metal shrieking noise. She knew this noise. It was a sound that her Pokémon Corviknight made. She looked down, and hopped off the roof, flapping her arms. Somehow this worked, and she landed softly. Looking into one of the train station's windows, she tried to find her reflection, but the face of her giant Pokémon looked back at her. In shock, surprise, and frustration, she began to squawk and jump around. Nobody could see or hear this except Nozomi, who must've been getting annoyed. Agotta felt something weird... What had happened? She saw the body, fell over, and then... She passed out. She remembered now, she had been rendered unconscious from the shock of seeing a dead man. Had she taken control of Corviknight after that, somehow? She reached one of her wings out the pull open the door to the train station, and began to walk inside until she bumped her head on the door. Oh yeah, Corviknight was seven feet tall. She ducked under the door frame and waddled her way through the lobby. She felt like she had been forgetting something. Looking around, a pink glow caught her eye. Her soul gem! Without this, she couldn't transform into a magical girl or create Pokémon! She grabbed it with one of her claws, and then slowly and awkwardly struggled to walk out of the train station. After she dodged the top of the door frame again, she wondered what to do. It'd probably be best to get back home, but doing it like this would take until tomorrow morning... Oh, of course! She was in Corviknight's body now, she would just fly back home! She began to beat her wings harder than she needed, and began to fly upwards, and then forwards... It was a super strange concept to grasp. She could fly, but barely knew how. She felt liberated in some sense, but shackled in another. She made her way home rather quickly, and placed her soul gem on the ground. Suddenly, she felt like she was about to black out, and then did.
Agotta woke up again. She didn't even check and see if she was in her body now. She didn't even move. Judging by how everything that happened earlier began to hit her, she was definitely back. Cubone, Marowak, and that Security Guard... They were all killed by some sort of monster. The police could say it was a wild animal to her all they wanted, but she knew it was something else entirely. It killed Cubone and Marowak... Not only could it see them, but it was stronger than Marowak. In their short lives, they might not have done anything, but Marowak was far from weak. It had a higher defense stat than Corviknight... If Corviknight hadn't panicked upon seeing whatever it was that it saw, she and Nozomi... They would've ended up just like the security guard... No, he had a name... Mr. Hayanama... The one thing she could find solace in was that the titles for men didn't say whether they had any partners. He could have had a family. If he had a family, he had been torn out of it by the twisted claws of fate... Something like that could happen at any moment, to anyone. She thought about when they were in front of the door to his office. She thought it was her own father... It never really dawned on her until now that this kind of thing could happen to the people she loved. Her mother, her father... Anri... There was no way to tip toe around it anymore. Her best friend in whole wide world had been taken from her, slaughtered by some terrible monster. The amount of pain she felt in her final moments led to the creation of Bellstar. She couldn't imagine it. She finally broke her motionless stupor to cry. Some vile fiend had taken her friend... Not only from her, but from her own parents as well... She'd never see Anri again... Never speak to her, never hear her talk about the things she loves, never hear the offer to play Cowboys and Indians or some other foreign game she learned from her father... She didn't even really know what an Indian was. She had a vague idea from movies Anri showed her, but besides that... All she knew was that they and cowboys ran around and shot at each other. Now the Cowboy was dead, and the Indian had nobody to pretend shoot at. She had nobody to make a gun shape with her hand and say "bang! bang!" at anymore. She didn't have any friend as close as Anri. She had kids she'd play with, but none she had a bond with as deep as between herself and Anri. Other kids would just ignore her when she talked about TV shows she likes. She felt like she'd be all alone at school Monday. Perhaps Anri felt the same way about her? What if it had been her instead? Her parents would be sad, Anri would be sad... There wasn't much of a difference, really. But the main one was... Anri would be alive. But, judging by everything else that happened, would she even know about any of this? If their positions were swapped, would Anri had figured out that she had died at the train station? Would she have found out that a monster had killed her? Perhaps... Perhaps these events were the best that could possibly happen. She knew what happened to Anri, and she had the opportunity to make sure it didn't happen to her. More than that, she had the opportunity to make sure this didn't happen to anyone else, too. She and Anri weren't the only people with families. Mr. Hayanama even at least had parents or someone to mourn him. Everyone had someone that would notice if they were gone. Perhaps nobody would have to notice that someone they loved was gone because of that monster again. Agotta looked at her hand through the tears welling up in her eyes. She thought for a second. Anri couldn't beat it, so what makes her so sure she could? She... She just... Her hand dropped by to her side. Anri had shot such a barrage of bullets at whatever this monster was, and it didn't stop. She had a slingshot at a big zoo which she could only pick six animals from at a time. Compared to Anri and her two revolvers, she was weak. Her wish to make Pokémon real didn't help her much in this situation. Her wish... Anri was already dead by the time she got the opportunity, wasn't she? If she knew about this sooner, she could've used that wish to bring her back to life. If she had waited to think about her wish... maybe for just a day... She might've been able to find out that Anri wasn't around anymore. Her selfish wish made in the spur of the moment wasted her opportunity to have her friend back. Just as she was starting to stop, she began to cry again. She'd been doing this a lot today. She needed to get something to drink. What time was it anyways? It was dark o'clock, and that was all the energy she could really put in that thought right now. She opened the door to her room and headed to the living room. Her mother had fallen asleep on the recliner, and her father sat awake on the couch. "Hey Dad..." She quietly greeted her father.
"Ah, good morning Agotta. Did you enjoy your rest?" He joked.
"No..."
"Well, let me go put your mom in bed and we can talk about whatever you want, OK?"
"Okay..." When she said this, her father picked up her mother, and walked down the hall. She looked inside the fridge to find a bottle of ramune. She had been saving it for a rainy day, or until she could get more. It was surely raining. She put all of her strength into popping the marble out of the way, but she couldn't, no matter how hard she tried. Her father returned in the time she took to try and do this.
"Here, let me get it Agotta." He said. In one swift and precise motion, the marble was punched into the first compartment of the bottle. This got Agotta thinking.
"Hey dad... You're strong, right? What would you do if you saw a... a big animal? Like a really big bear?" She asked.
"I'd run and call the animal control. Maybe police." He said.
"What if... What if you had to deal with it?" She asked, unsatisfied with his first answer. She couldn't exactly run from her problem and call the police.
"Well, if I had to deal with it myself..." He thought for a second. "I'd still run. This time, however, I'd go get a gun or something like that, and some friends with them too. Bears might be bullet resistant, but with enough people I'm sure we could manage." Agotta thought about this. She had been thinking all wrong. It wasn't only her against this monster. It was an enemy of all magical girls. If it wasn't dealt with, it was possible that any of them could become its next victim. Nozomi even helped her find out about it, and most likely knew it existed already too. She looked back at both of her hands this time, and formed both into fists. She couldn't beat this monster, this much she was correct about. A group of Magical Girls, however, could possibly do it. She knew enough to form a group already. Nozomi, Komi, Aza, and Asami. Perhaps she could find more, just to be safe. This monster couldn't stand a chance against a mob of Magical Girls. Even so, there was a lot of things that needed to be done. She needed to get the girls she knew together, and get them to agree to join her cause. Then they had to find the thing to fight it. Nevertheless, she felt like she had the ability to affect her surroundings and circumstances in a way that she wanted. She felt like she had power again.
"Thanks, dad." She said, sniffling and wiping her eyes. She took a sip of her ramune, and then put it on the coffee table. She headed for the front door until her dad stopped her.
"Where are you going Agotta? It's still dark out."
"Oh, there's something I forgot in the yard this morning. I was going to get it on my way back, but..."
"Alright, then. You can go get it." He said. She opened the door, and stepped outside. It was pretty dark, maybe she should've got a flash light or something. She scanned around the yard and saw a hot pink glow. No need, actually. She walked a few feet out, grabbed her soul gem, and something caught her eye. Under the tree in her yard was an old Pikachu toy she thought she lost. She didn't even think of getting something to show her dad. She really lucked out with this being right here. She went back into her house, showed the small toy off to her father, and went back to sleep.
She woke up again, and spent Sunday not doing much. She watched TV, and brainstormed ideas for hunting the terrible beast that took her friend. She of course, needed allies. Komi seemed easy enough to persuade into fighting. It was some sort of monster that Aza didn't know about, or was too dangerous for her to list for some reason. In that same case, Aza might be easy as well. She didn't say anything about some demon that mauls magical girls, their summons, and even normal people. She seemed like a real know-it-all, so even if she was lying or wrong about Anri, she'd be interested in this. That left Nozomi and Asami. Nozomi... Maybe she could just politely ask? Unless she was already set on fighting it, she didn't seem like she'd be easy to talk into fighting. Asami... She didn't know anything about Asami, really. She worked at a book store, and she wasn't too sociable. She prepared some talking points for Nozomi and Asami, wrote them down on a notepad, and passed her Sunday uneventfully.
Monday came, and she had a feeling that she'd be meeting her Magical Girl acquaintances on the train again, like Friday. She paid her train fare, and took a seat in the same place as before, keeping an eye out for anyone she thought was a magical girl, especially the four she knew.
