"Nice to meet you as well Cedric" Closing his eyes, the boy listens to Cedric, while paying attention around him, still noticing a strange scent on the air he isn't familiar with. Yuuichi opens his eyes and glances at Cedric curiously for a moment as she starts to exude anger, but his entire body stiffens the moment she utters the name Arys. He stands silently for a few moments, fighting down the urge to rip out her throat, knowing she would probably take him down first. Finally noticing after some time passes that he had been growling, he stops himself and looks at Cedric worried. "I know this is not my business, but why would you seek such a worthless individual as that man? He is nothing but evil." Calf muscles tensing a bit, Yuuichi watches her closely wondering if what he said was a good idea or not. Subconsciously, he reaches into his pocket and starts rubbing his thumb across the pendant his master gave him, a nautical star, the symbol of her house.
 
She tried to ignore his growling, lest she wanted to spark an argument. "I'm aware he's evil. He is the reason I am the way I am. I wish to seek him out to annihilate him. If he is as worthless as you say, then his death should mean nothing." The way she spoke was casual and relaxed as her eyes slid back down to the map. The best way to deal with someone's death was nonchalantly, so that it didn't seem as big of a deal as it might otherwise be. Though it may have been a bit extreme to want to kill him because of a silly dispute between her family, Cedric couldn't care less. "So will you assist me, or should I find someone else?"
 
Lowering his head slightly, Yuuichi 'stares' at Cedric somewhat looking through her. While listening to her intentions, a tear trickles down his cheek, repressed thoughts coming to the surface. "I know this is pointless, but I feel the need to ask anyway. Is there no way someone can turn you from that path? I know we just met, but I would hate to see you harmed. You seem like a really nice person."


Memories of his master's teachings start assaulting his mind, causing him to physically cringe in a bit of pain. You can't let her go Yuuichi, you know it would be suicide for anyone that is not a Warrior of Light to face him now. Biting his lower lip and looking all over the place like a scared pup, the boy finally finds his voice again. "Cedric, would you like to go somewhere to sit down and discuss this? It is not safe to talk about these things in the open. You never know when his spies are nearby." Tentatively, he reaches out to her, hoping she will take his hand and he can lead her back to the inn he is staying at.
 
"T-Turn me from that path?" She looked surprised by the question, obviously not anticipating being asked such a thing. Why did he care anyway? For all he knew, she could have the power to kill him right there on the spot. Of course, she both lacked the skill and courage to do so, but he didn't know that. Instead of answering his question, she decided to ignore it, and since he began to speak once more anyhow, it seemed she didn't really need to answer it.


She was hesitant in reaching for his hand, but decided it couldn't do too much harm, right? Placing her own in his, she nods lightly toward him. Best to not ask and just go with it if what he said was true.
 
As Cedric takes his hand, Yuuichi's cheeks turn a slight pink as he notices that he has never held the hand of a female other than his master. So soft..... As the boy leads her through different alleys towards the inn he is staying at, he tries to pick up a conversation with her, to try and put her at ease about him. "Your skin is very soft Lady Cedric. Please forgive me if this assumption is off base, but you are human royalty, are you not?" A few more alleys crossed, sticking to the shadows, they finally arrive at thier location. Yuuichi leads Cedric up the stairs quickly so that the landlord doesn't see them and unlocks the door, pulling Cedric inside and shutting and locking the door behind them.


Relaxing visibly, Yuuichi pulls out a chair at the small table in his inn room for Cedric, and then sits in the one chair across from it. He eyes her a little curiously at first, not sure what to do, never having a girl in his room other than his master. His face turning a dark crimson, the boy shakes his head furiously, trying to clear away the bad thoughts. "Lady Cedric, if I may be so bold, why is it you are wanting to hunt Arys? Not to be judgemental or anything of the sort, but it seems on the side of suicide. I thought only the Warriors of Light could harm him now." He turns his senses to pay closer attention to her now that he has mentioned the Warriors, trying to see if she may know anything about them.

Her smile faltered, but only for a second. "Not exactly human royalty," she paused for a moment, as if she was hesitating what she was going to say next. "My grandparents were royal, and they gave me almost everything to their name. I lived with them for some time before they... You know." Cedric didn't really like talking about the death of those closest to her.


She observed the room he lead her into. It was nice, cozy even, though very unlike what she was used to. She said a small thank you as he offered her the chair and she sat, smoothing out her gown. Pretending not to notice the shade of red on his face, she continued to observe the room around her. His voice broke the silence that enveloped them and she glanced toward him again.


"Warriors of Light? What... What are you going on about? He's just a regular person! He can't be that bad." She didn't speak for a moment, but something about the way he spoke... He was serious, wasn't he? From what Cedric knew, Arys wasn't too awful at all.
 
Standing up abruptly, Yuuichi walks over to the foot of the bed and pulls a rucksack out from under it. Reaching in he pulls out a fairly thick book and starts to walk back to the table. As he sits down the thought occurs to him that this girl is human, she may not understand the book. "Are you able to understand Elvish Lady Cedric?" He opens the book to a page he had dog-eared that references the stranger in history and the Warriors of Light. Running his right index finger across the words, he checks to make sure it is the correct page. The boy lowers his head as if looking at the book, still self-conscious of things and not sure if he can trust this woman to let her know the truth about him. "Arys is not someone to be trifled with lightly. He has commited too many atrocities to count. There is a reason that man still walks, even though it would be nice if he didn't." Closing his eyes, the boy flinches in pain for the second time since he and Cedric approached this subject, memories of his parents trying to kill him as a pup returning to his mind, as well as watching his entire clan get burned out of existence. As he thinks about the past, he softly starts to mumble. "Thank you master."
 
"I know very little. Just a few words here and there, not enough to comprehend... That." She nodded toward the book he had in his hands as she spoke. It was quite the large book, after all, and the only reason she knew the minimal amount of Elvish was because of one of the servants in her home, and even he spoke it only occasionally. She'd asked him to teach her once, but he said he wasn't fit to do so. "What do you mean? He honestly can't be as bad as you say - my own parents work for him! Or used to, at least. They only spoke kindly of him. Said he was like a sort of god." After she spoke she realized he seemed to be a little bit pained. Was it something she said? "A-Are you alright?"
 
"No problem. And I wouldn't mind some red wine. It feels like ages since I have had some," Litina sighed and sat back down again. "Do you think that Saito will come back soon?" She thought out loud and looked over to Fierra who was continuing to cook. She whistled for Katira to come over to her and offered her some of the pieces of meat that she had snagged.
 
Saito bargained with the butcher for a fair price and place the pouch of coins in his pocket. He will save it for Fierra. Saito then made his way to the hill where the nobles' houses sit. Once upon the hill, he went to the third house, a partially destroyed mansion. He walked along the front and ran his hand across an invisible barrier. Saito had charmed his childhood home to prevent intruders and scavengers from disturbing anything that might lead to clues to what had happened. This home happen to be ground zero of the attack on Elesidd. Saito was in the woods when it happened and arrived too late. Everyone was already dead, so he sealed the home till a time came that he would be able to handle going through the wreckage. Saito came to a place in the wall that felt different. He reached down and placed a hand on a stone with runes carved into them. Saito closed his eyes and the runes glowed a bright blue before disappearing, lowering the barrier. Saito crossed the threshold and into the courtyard. Looking around, memories flooded his mind, causing tears to well in his eyes. Saito shook his head to clear it and continued walking the grounds.


Upon reaching the south-west part of the mansion, he noticed an older part of the home was still standing. It was the wing that his mother took over. Once this home belonged to his maternal grandparents, but when his mother married his father, he took it over and changed just about everything. However his mother prohibited him from changing that particular wing in the house and it became her personal sanctuary. Saito had only been there a couple of times but remembered it was basically a home within itself. As long as it was still intact, it should have a small bath, kitchen and bedroom. He cautiously crossed the yard to the doors, removed the stones that were blocking the door, and entered. To his luck, nothing here was harmed. He closed his eyes and smelled the air. It still smelled like his mother. It was a smell of lavender and old books. The old books made since because there were books all around the study, books probably from the first major war.


Looking out the window and noticing the pink hues of sunset, Saito decided he needed to get back to the girls. He would hate to make Fierra wait again because of him. He looked over the place, making note of anything he might need tonight and headed back out to town. Saito walked through the streets as the stalls were closing down. An older woman screamed in shock when he passed her stall. "S-Saito! Is that really you?" The hefty woman ran to him and held his face in her hands. "By the gods! It is you!" She started crying and wrapped her arms around his shoulders. She would have been around his neck but Saito was a good head taller than the woman. Saito gave a gentle smile and held the woman. "Ida, I'm so glad to see that you are well." She was his nanny when he was a child. "I would love to catch up, but please forgive me, I am meeting some people for dinner." "Oh my goodness. Yes. Please forging me. I'm sure you have lots to do. Please come by sometime and visit. I still live in the same small little house." Saito smiled again and kissed her forehead. "I will visit for sure. Good bye." Saito hugged her again one more time before departing. He grabbed a couple of things he needed before arriving at the small house next to the library. Saito knocked on the door. "Lady Fierra, Lady Litiana. It's Saito. I hope I didnt make you wait too long."
 
"Well, how's that for timing? I'll pour you a glass in a second, after Saito is settled," Fierra said with a slight blush. She was so glad Saito could make it for dinner. Slightly buzzed from the wine, she dashed over to answer the door. Opening the door wide with a smile she said,"Hey Saito! Come on in! I'm working on the delicious dinner." Fierra gestured him to come inside the house.
 
For a moment, Yuuichi just sits there silently, waiting for the memories to go away again, surprised at how frequent they have been lately. He listens intently to Cedric's words, clenching his fist a bit when she mentioned Arys not being as bad as what he said. "I'm fine. Just a minor headache is all, nothing to worry about." He smiles slightly, hoping that she will trust that he is fine, not sure if he wants to tell her or not what is wrong with him. You don't know her....what if she thinks you are a liar and trying to just turn her away from him by making up stories? It could work against you like it has in the past when you try to protect others. Taking a deep breath, he raises his head to face Cedric again. "Arys only wishes he was a god, but then again with the power he has acquired he practically is now. That is why I wish there was a way I could prevent you from seeking him out. It only ends badly for those that try."


Yuuichi stands and walks over to the window in his room, looking outside at the night sky, his long day starting to wear on him. "Forgive me if I seem a bit out of it. I'm somewhat tired right now, I traveled here from Jarek today." Stretching and yawning a bit, the boy motions to the bed for Cedric. "The bed will probably be of more use to you than it will me. Feel free to use it if you have nowhere else to stay." Closing his eyes, a few bones in his body start to pop as he changes into his animal form. Once finished, the little snow fox hops up on the table in front of Cedric and nuzzles gently against her arm, his sign that he trusts her for now.
 
Litina laughed at the amazing timing with Saito coming back as soon as she mentioned him. She noticed the little blush that Fierra's face had displayed and couldn't help but smile. Litina gave a little wave to Saito. "Hey Saito! Dinner's almost ready. Did you get a good deal on the deer?"
 
Saito walked in and noticed the change in Fierra's attitude, as well as the familiar smell on her. He smiled a little and thought he might indulge in some wine as well. "Oh ya. I got a good deal. Here this is for you Fierra." Saito pulled out the sizable money pouch from his pocket and handed it to her. "Also, perhaps could I get a glass of wine? It actually sounds pretty good after visiting my home." Saito walked over to where Litina was sitting and pulled up a chair for himself.
 
"But Indira, are you certain you must leave us, now of all times?" The elegantly dressed woman who stood before her couldn't be more opposite to Indira. Her satin gown hung gracefully to the white marble floor, only a shade lighter than the woman's skin. Her hair, darker than a crow's feather in color, sat pinned atop her head, with a few precisely chosen locks dangling free. Indira on the other hand, stood in her usual garb; a comfortable greenish tunic with tan, ankle-length trousers. Her brownish, auburn hair stopped a bit past her shoulders. Hanging over her right arm was her favorite jacket; a deer-skin coat she had crafted herself when she turned eighteen, roughly four years ago.


"With Grandpapa's one-hundred and twelfth birthday just around the corner you couldn't possibly be so selfish as to suddenly run off to who knows where!"


Isobel, why does she always have to butt in?


"I've already told you, dearest sister," sighed Indira, "Nothing you can say will stop me. Besides, I'm of no use to the extravagant parties you and Iliana throw. In fact, I prefer to be as far away from them as possible."


Isobel glared at her defiant sister. But the determined look she saw in her eyes was not uncommon.


"Oh, why do you have to be so different Indira? Why trouble yourself with things that do not matter? Why should business for you be any better in that Elvin kingdom than it already is here?" Isobel's tone was not one of sympathetic questioning. To Indira, it sounded more like an annoyed cat, whining to get its own way. As always, it's my fault because I'm the different one. Indira could feel her anger rising. I wonder how much you'd flip if you discovered how different you and everyone else in this family is from the rest of your beloved friends here in Toor Valley? Maybe you'd understand me, but then, I highly doubt that. She took a deep breath so as to calm her threatening temper.


"I'v already explained myself; too many times in fact. Now, good day sister. I'll see you when I return." And with that, Indira turned and strode out of the wooden archway leading to the family stable.


Once she had saddled up her chestnut mare, Acorn, and mounted, Indira took one last look at the home of her childhood, checked her traveling pack, and whistled to her trusty steed. "Shall we?" Lullin was a two days journey away, and she still had to stop in the nearby town of Pinnella for one last thing before she set off.
 
Finally arriving in Pinnella, Pierre took in the sights and smells around him. Children were laughing and playing, smells of baking waved about, and familiar chatter could be heard throughout the town. Pierre pulled his cart up towards a trading station as a brown haired middle aged man greeted him warmly. "Pierre, haven't seen you in a while! How you been friend?" Grinning, he replied, "I'm doing alright, thanks. Just selling some odds and ends, and buying this list." Handing the parchment over to the man, Pierre got off and nodded, allowing him to take it from there. 'First things first, I need to find the old lady's grandaughter. Looking around as he walked throughout the town, Pierre was greeted by many merchants and citizens, all knowing him from his travels. Reaching a pub, Pierre walked in expectantly, already guessing where he might find his coworker.
 
Indira entered Pinnella atop Acorn at a slow trot, enjoying the familiar exhibits of the simple country life she had come to know. She chuckled at the sight of Jace and Daniella, the butcher's twin children, playing with a group of friends. It seemed that just yesterday they had been wrapped in swaddling clothes, both trying to out-wail the other for their busy mother's attention. From up the road, Indira could smell the mouth-watering scent of a freshly baked pie, probably cooling on the windowsill of Mrs. Penlor's house. Such peaceful, content lives they all lead, thought Indira.


"Oi, master Jenkins! You haven't got any extra nails you'd be willing to part with? For a price o'course."


Jenkins, the town blacksmith nodded in answer, and then waved to Indira as she slowly passed by.


"How're Acorn's new shoes comin' along Indira?"


"Just fine, thanks. Although I'm not sure how much she likes them."


"Well, just give her time. She'll thank me later when they've saved her from a split hoof."


"I'm sure she will," agreed Indira.


When she arrived at the local trading station, Indira dismounted Acorn and headed inside. The dark, musty shop was filled with all sorts of items, from tools to turnips and spices to spades. In fact, there was a newly stacked pile of goods standing awkwardly in the middle of the already cramped store. A new shipment must have just arrived, thought Indira. A rustling sound came from behind the counter and sure enough, there was McGreggor, the cheerful shop owner, with a piece of brown parchment in his hands, no doubt counting or doing something that had to do with the newly acquired mound of goods.


"You really should invest in a bell to hang above the door so you can hear when customers come in," said Indira jokingly. McGreggor jumped and the parchment flew out of his hands.


"Oh, Indira, you startled me!"


"Really? I couldn't tell."


"You're right though," noted McGreggor, completely ignoring Indira's sarcastic remark, "I should get something done about that door. It's far too quite. Now," he said, reaching down to pick up the fallen parchment, "what can I help you with?"


"I've come like you told me to, before I leave. You said you have something I could use along the journey." Indira stepped towards the counter and rested her hands on the surface.


"Ah, yes. That I do." He exited the room, returning shortly afterwards with a small black box in hand. "A magical item for your trip to a magic-filled kingdom."


"What does it do?" asked Indira. The box seemed to be made of some type of black stone, yet it was lighter than any rock Indira had ever lifted.


"That's the problem. I don't know and haven't been able to find out. That's why I'm giving it to you."


Indira looked up with a start. "For free?"


"Well, since I don't know what it is, I can't properly set its value. So why don't you find out for me on this trip of yours and you can just pay me back with something you find while you're away."


Indira couldn't believe her luck. She hadn't even properly begun the journey and already good things were happening to her.


"By the way, these new wares came from a young elf who just arrived in town today. Perhaps he can assist you in your travels?"


"Thanks, but it's the elves actually inside their kingdom who I need help from." Thanking McGreggor once more for his generous gift, Indira exited the trading station, feeling ready as ever to begin her journey. Soon she was back astride Acorn and exiting the East gate of Pinnella.
 
"Whatever you say," she said quietly, her voice hardly audible as she spoke. If he wanted her to believe it was just a headache, then just a headache it was. She wouldn't push it - he was already kind enough to invite her there, she better not do anything rash, lest she wanted to be kicked out. And then where would she be? Right back where she started. And so she left the subject alone to be continued tomorrow, when she could be a little more level headed, a little more understanding, and a little more rested.


She felt her jaw tense at the very mention of the city, but only ignored it. 'That was a long time ago, just forget about it,' she thought to herself in a sad attempt to keep the anger from resurfacing. "Thank you," Cedric said, though for a moment she was confused as to why it would be of more use to her... And then it hit her. The transformation made it rather clear as to why, after all. She rested a light hand on his head and pet him a little, her smile returning once more. "Goodnight, Yuuichi." She stood up and went to the bed, feeling her eyelids already begin to get heavy, though she hadn't felt tried only moments before. Unconsciousness hit her hard, though, and she fell victim to the clutches of sleep in a matter of minutes. Granted, the bed was nothing like at home, but she didn't mind too much.
 
Laying on the table curled in a ball, Yuuichi fakes sleep for a bit as he listens to Cedric, listening for the rythmic breathing that would signal she is fully asleep. After a few moments pass, he stands up and stops before the book, his head lowered down at it as he contemplates his next move. She has been nothing but nice to me, the least I can do is tell her the truth. But what if she thinks I'm a liar. I can't deal with that very well, especially with master not nearby. Hopping off the table lightly, Yuuichi transforms back to his human form. Reaching into the rucksack again, he pulls out a ink well and feather pen. The boy sits down at the table and watches over the bed for a moment, hoping he isn't disturbing Cedric.


Once Yuuichi is sure that he will not disturb Cedric, he concentrates on creating a small ball of light infront of himself so he can see the paper to write. Dipping the nib in the ink well he takes the pen to the paper and starts to right in what he knows to be a human language.

Please understand it is not my intent to deceive you. You appear to be a kind-hearted individual, but I tend not to be the most trusting. The information you have on Arys is but one point of view. You see, I am a mere servant to his sister, Lady Aryn Korinth. Before you assume I am in league with him, please let me put your mind at ease, I most definitely am not, nor will I ever be. The two of them are polar opposites, where Arys brings death and destruction, Aryn brings life and hope. So you may know a little bit about me, I have no family other than my master, Arys saw to it that my entire clan was wiped off the face of the planet for defying him. I survived only by the grace of not being there when it happened, instead I was away bleeding to death after my mother attempted to kill me in a fit of rage for me being blind. Kind of strange that someone that is blind is writing you a note, eh? If you want to know more about me, feel free to ask. At this time, I feel I can trust you, and I sincerely hope that you do not betray this idea.

Once finished with the note, the boy puts his writing materials away and stands. Walking over to the bedside, he places the note where Cedric will see it on the nightstand. Once finished he returns to his fox form and hops up on the foot of the bed, curling in a ball and going back to sleep.
 
Snatching the bottle of red wine and two glasses she filled the glasses three-quarters full. Fierra handed the one glass to Saito, the other to Litina. She replied joyfully,"Thank you for the money Saito! You're a true gentleman." Fierra then checked on the meat. She took it out and sprinkled some more seasoning on it. Then, she put the meat back on the rack of the oven. "Good news! Looks like it'll be ready quite soon," She announced. She sat down at the table where Saito and Litina were seated. The table was already mostly set, except for some silverware and plates. Fierra decided to do that when the meat was ready. Swishing her wine back and forth, she talked to Saito,"So, Saito, tell me a little bit about yourself.
 
Walking into the pub, night had already begun to fall, so many lights and such were already on and flickering. Walking through the pub familiarly, he set a hand down on his very familiar, very irresponsible coworker. "Novelette, c'mon. I'm here to give you a lift." Turning around to him, a drunk women made a very dissatisfied face. The woman herself appeared to be about 17, with long blonde hair tied into a ponytail, green eyes, and long almost floppy elven ears. Although normally very beautiful, she made an angry face like an old man about to scold. "Ye dun git et, do ya ol' pal! I'm here to drink! Drink! Hahahahahaha-hoo..." She immediately dropped on the table asleep, a face that seemed rather content. Sighing, Pierre lifted her up over his shoulder and began to walk out. "Please put it on my tab Mike."


The night was fresh and bright, as stars twinkled about. 'McGreggor should almost be done... I think I'll just check up on him before I go to the usual inn.' Walking through the town, Pierre reached his shop at the very entrance of town. Moving aside for a woman riding on a healthy looking horse, he opened the door. "So, you changed your mi- Oh Pierre! How are you doing?" Setting Novelette down on a chair, Pierre grinned as he shook the man's hand again. "Just finished getting this drunk out of the pub again. Finished?" The man walked about and handed him the parchment with several notes on it. "Just now, yeah. Hey listen, you wouldn't happen to know how much a light, black looking box thing of magic would be worth would you?" Tilting his head a bit, Pierre raised an eyebrow. "McGreggor, did you give something away again?" Laughing, the man shrugged. "Where you heading to now boy?" "Don't know, I've got some time to kill until we restock. Maybe I'll go to the East, inside the kingdom for some crystals."


Packing up his cart and 'special' drunk luggage, Pierre soon got on the road outside of the East gate and began traveling on. The moon was beautiful, the light extending out and gently resting on everything.
 
Saito sipped on his wine as he watched Fierra continue to cook. While it was still cooking she came to sit with them. Saito took a longer draw on his wine when she asked about himself. He took a deep breath before speaking. "Well there isnt too much to tell. I was born and raised here in Elesidd. I was the only son of a Councilman and I had a younger sister. About a year ago I was promoted from head of the town guard to an army commander." Saito sat for a moment contemplating on going further. They have been very friendly and Fierra even invited him into her home. "Actually there is more. You know the ruined mansion on the nobleman's hill. That was my home. Fierra, since you came here because of the dragon, you should know that was basically ground zero. The one who controls the dragon wanted my family dead specifically, along with any other official he could. I was training in the woods when he attacked and I got home too late. Actually the dragon picked me up and threw me miles away from town. When I recovered I went to the army to try to find out who attacked my home and bring him down. However I quickly learned that the army had way too much red tape to do what I wanted to do. So, I left to learn about the man on my own. Eventually I learned the man who attacked was named Arys Korinth. I remembered that the Korinth family was originally from here, so I came back to see what I could learn about them." Saito took another long draw on his wine, not sure how the girls might react to his story.
 
Letting the story sink in, she wondered if he knew about the Warriors of Legend. Still, she and Saito weren't exactly best buds yet, so that would have to wait. She guessed that she could slip something in casually and see how he reacted. Maybe her and Saito could work together. Fierra felt sorry that his family had been targeted, learning about people's stories made her appreciate how she had a good, happy family. Deep in thought she said,"I'm sorry that happened to you. Yeah, and I've been looking into him too. He's a maniac and a bastard. Somebody needs to find him and put a stop to him. I've heard that he has a sister that is as good as an angel. I'm not sure if I believe that or not. How could a sister to an evil moster be so good?" She causally added in,"I've also read about Arys and its been said that some people that are 'Warrior of Legends' have tried to stop him before. What do you think about that?" Fierra watched closely to see what he would think. Leaning her elbow on the wooden table, she tried to appear relaxed.
 
"Wow, that's rough," Litina said to Saito. She sort of gave a comforting smile to him, even though she knew that wouldn't help.


Her head slowly raised when she heard Fierra mention the Warrior of Legends. She wondered if she was one and how she knew about them. If she was one, then her powers would be remarkable. Litina herself didn't know if she was one, but if she did then she had definitely not been awoken yet. She kept quiet though, and continued to sip on her red wine.
 
Saito finished his wine and held out his glass for a refill. He listened to Fierra and furrowed his brow. "I, too, have heard about his sister and if the beliefs are true then most likely she will be his polar opposite.
