"Actually I never works" Derek smiled a little, "they just come naturally" he joked "I heard it was for the whole summer" he leaned on his elbow to look at her "and I bet there's a whole lot of things that are worth knowing about you" he put one arm sround around her.


Jessica sat in her room with her knees pulled to her chest and huge grin on her lips. Eventually she calmed down and fell asleep under the fuzzy covers.

Sophie laughed a little "girls really just throw themselves at you? I don't see why" She said teasing. She shrugged a little and shook her head, "Nope...can't think of anything" She paused and looked at him "what about you? What is there to know about you?" She asked with a smile.

Derek raised an eyebrow, "well you like books, you don't find many girls who like books." He smiled "and theres not much to know about me... I'm that party boy who everyone thinks they like... and who has a broken family" he sat up and set his arm on his knee looking at the moon above the water.

Sophie nodded, "I do like books, but that's really as far as my interests go." she said with a slight smile. She glanced over at him sympathetically when she heard him say he cam from a broken family. "Oh...I'm sorry to hear that." She said compassionately. She then stared at the moon. "The moon is really pretty tonight" She said quietly trying to lighten the mood.

Derek looked over at Sophie, " thats not the only pretty thing here" he smiled at her. Outside was warm, so he layed down and wrapped his arms around her waist.

Sophie nodded "yeah, the lake is pretty too" she said oblivious to his flirtatious comment. "The way the moon is reflecting of the lake would make a beautiful photo. Where's Reese, she wo-" She paused when she felt his arms around her waist and scooted away "um, what are you doing?" she asked staring at him unsure.

Derek raised an eyebrow "its a friendly gesture" he chuckled and layed down since she obviously wasn't ready. He putnhisnhsnds behind his head and closed his eyes, "by the way, I wasn't saying the lake was pretty, I was saying you're pretty"

Sophie laughs awkwardly feeling slightly foolish "ohhhh". It is silent for a bit before Sophie speaks again. She turns and looks at Derek with a small smile "Do you really think I'm pretty?" She begins to talk really fast without taking a breath "because you could probably get any girl here if you wanted them, and not to judge a book by its cover or anything but you seem like the type that only dates the really popular and outgoing girls and you guys don't even talk to people like me unless its to make us do your homework or call us nerds or something and most of the time people like you don't even know people like me exist" She says her temper flaring a little towards the end, but she keeps it under control for the most part and gives Derek a meek smile and looks back at the lake.
