[Labyrinth Land] LL Questions and Concerns

@MechaGhoul: Very well, then. If this is is about transparency, then what benefit would transparency bring to the game itself? Because if this is a trust issue, I'm not sure where this sudden suspicion is coming from. I feel like I've been pretty even-handed about the dungeon crawling.

In relation to the levels of the monsters, I am well-aware, but call it a quirk, flaw, or whatever, but I like to mix things up. Besides, leveling up monsters only allows so much, it doesn't improve all stats, and Mogruul's three level-ups came from the following Command (Ogre), Area Attack and +1 to Defense. You'll also note that he didn't act until Lucius and Oswin engaged him, and even then, he could've Area Attacked you then and there. He didn't because I thought I'd give you a sporting chance, get some hits in. I honestly thought that Lucius would burn yet more followers and unleash some critical hit, as he seems wont to do.

Also, thank you. I am well-aware of the guidelines for dungeon construction. I apologize that my knowledge of them isn't quite as encyclopedic as your's, though.

I'm sorry to hear that way, though, @Ixacise. Although, I am a bit confused. You mention that Make You Kingdom isn't a jRPG, and then declares it to be akin to the Hero Yoshihiko (At least that's what I can gleam from your picture), which from what few episodes I've seen, is a riff on Dragon Quest, the quintessential jRPG.

@Zyden, I'm also getting that sense, all because of the lack of given info on a joke enemy, no less, and one that they already got something from.

Also, I'm glad you enjoy Elric. That makes me happy to see a fellow fan.

So in the interest of this game not stalling like an old car, going to just get my treasury roll done so we can move on here. If Ixcise and Mechaghoul have problems still could you please take it to private messages?

Edit: I'll let Dietaku decide how to randomize it. Ogrekin only have fangs so 3 of those gathered. I'll pick "exploration" as my category of common items.

[dice]1273[/dice]

1 random recovery item

[dice]1274[/dice]

Choose a category of Common Items. You receive 1 random Item from that category. If that Item has a Level, it is Level 3.

[dice]1275[/dice]

3 Materials of your choice from that monster's Materials field

[dice]1276[/dice]

1 Random Recovery Item

[dice]1277[/dice]

1 Random Rare General Item

You seem to have not read what I wrote clearly. I said this is a not a "High flying JRPG with lots of flash" with quotations for emphasis. DQ is a JRPG of which Yoshihiko is parodying, but I'm saying that Yoshihiko's tone is more in line with the game's tone with it's jokey parodic tone and lack of aforementioned high flying and flashy tone.

Seriously the subtitle or whatever you call it is called: Cynical pop dungeon fantasy. And two of the monsters that are like boss tier are Mayonnaise king & it's upgraded version Mayonnaise King Pure Select who both have the special ability to make you fat.

Also it's not about lack of stats for your joke character so much as the lack for the other stuff as well

PS.

I'd totally want to go through a condiment kingdom themed dungeon

Ah, I see. I was a little confused.

Yes, I get that MQ Kingdom is a jokey game. One of my complaints in the translated PDF is that it takes out the rather good art, which illustrates this all the better, especially with the pretty funny visual puns (Vorpal Rabbit is a playboy bunny girl with a katana) or the secret references (The Orinthopter Angel is a straight-up copy of the old MtG Illustration of the Orinthopter creature). It becomes pretty clear that the devs were nerds steeped in their hobby, and the entire game is a riff/ loving slice of tabletop nerd-dom.

I personally don't think that 'Over the top' and the sardonic humor of the game are entirely incompatible, but whatever, opinions being what they are.

If you want to talk more on the exact logistics or lack thereof that I'm apparently not employing, please PM me. I don't want this to devolve into a discussion on our preferences for player-GM interaction. I'll be more than happy to talk to you there.

@Action Replay , nice rolls, do you want me to roll for the random items, or if you like, you can do so. Whichever you prefer.

[dice]1231[/dice]

Anyway the TL;DR is I'm dropping my star shard, armor, and lunch. And I got 28 fangs, 6 reagents, and an antidote

@Ixacise - I would really like those reagents if you have no other use for them.

I vaguely recall we have someone with a skill that lets us recover followers at the end of the dungeon phase? Or did I make that up?

[dice]1290[/dice]

1 Mysterious Egg

[dice]1301[/dice]

Crossbow - Level 1

Total Loot: Fangs x11, Lunch, Meat x2, Reagents x5, Full Course, Mysterious Egg, Crossbow (Level 1)

Not 100% sure I did the loot correctly, so if anyone sees any errors, please let me know.

Since we have all of these followers, can't they carry back all of the extra loot people are dropping? If I'm reading the book correctly (pages 87 and 88) each followers can carry a single item or material?

Yeah you can but I just got so many mats it's not really worthwhile plus those items I'm dropping are easily replaceable.

Also, do we own this bit of the map now? Or do we need to do something to annex it?

If yes, do we get to Court the square the Harpies live in as some kind of ad-hoc farm or something for the fish trading? I'm basically making stuff up, but it seems logical in my mind. Likewise, do the Dwarves provide any kind of bonus/income?

Big if on annexing since that's not exactly cheap and gotta figure out how much upkeep going to be needed to be payed. Also there might be other stuff worth buying too

Indeed. For purchasing regions the cost is...Reducing Treasury by [5 + Number of Unexplored Rooms Connected to Entrance]

Upkeep formula while you were away is [Number of Turns Spent x Number of Regions in the Kingdom]

And if we can't pay the debt, Upkeep Cost goes up by the Number of People in the Court.

So yes, gotta check the finances. What's the current state of the Treasury?

After all, buying more land if we can't upkeep what we have is not a wise idea.

Something to consider, gents, is that thanks to Zyden's happenings during the Kingdom Phase, the Fuuma Clan to your east has a market demand for Fangs, so you could gain a buffer of gold for the ones you have.

Aware of that but don't want to blow all the fangs on MG either.

Also Im dropping my antidote and sending it with a follower back and picking up 10 more fangs from whomever's loot roll put them over their muling capacity

What's the pricing and also can we just move now to the End phase?

[dice]1326[/dice]

Sweet add 1 mg to treasury.

Since I think we spent like one turn in the dungeon right?

Last edited by a moderator:
If you wish to sell them, the favorable rate is 3 materials for 1 mg, if I'm reading it right, page 72, otherwise, the rate is five per mg. I'll post the End Phase thread soon.

Also do we really divide our rolls by x number when certain checks are listed as roll /xnumber

?

[dice]1329[/dice]

Failed

Unless I can burn more followers to bump that to a 9

Negative Ixa. It means you need to get to that number or above.

Hm, well. It appears it was answered by Parsnip.
Anyway, [dice]1331[/dice]

Oh can I burn a Voice to get that up to Nine?
How many Voices of the People do we have? 7 or 10 at the moment?

I think I got an interrupt skill that lets me burn Voice to be able to bump that to nine and not pointlessly lose a facilty to retardedly high target numbers

Just as a future reminder, generally you're supposed to ask and okay it with the group before burning voices of the people. As for item rolls and such, I'll leave it to you @Dietaku .

Probably won't get anything done on this site until Saturday as advance notice.

"You had a cultural exchange with another Kingdom. Make a Culture Level / 9 check. If it succeeds, you gain 1 Talent with a Job randomly determined from the Birth Table, and increase your Relationship with a kingdom of your choice by 1 step. If it fails, you lose a Talent of your choice, and your Relationship with a random kingdom decreases by 1 step."
