Realistic or Modern LABELED

Eyree Sutherland

"The difference between ordinary and extraordinary is practice"
- Vladimir Horowitz

Location: Home | Scenario: Leaving for school
Mood: Energized | Outfit: Comfy | With: - | Tags: -

Most high school students would be complaining about the early morning. Most students found it exhausting after an entire summer of sleeping in until noon or later to wake up before seven in the morning. But not her. Eyree had been running on an army schedule her entire life. She had always woken up at dawn or earlier, naturally it seemed. Today was no different. She had woken, about a half hour before sunrise, to an empty house, the same way it had been for two weeks now. Her parents had been assigned somewhere in Spain a few weeks ago. They had stocked the fridge, left her with money to pay the house bills for next several months, had an extravagant meal and her father had played his fiddle, and then rose early to catch a red-eye to JFK. The past two weeks had been very quiet, something Eyree didn't much care for. She had spent the last remaining weeks of summer training for nearly eight hours a day, breaking only for a panini and the largest cup of black coffee the cafe offered, and spent her nights drinking and dancing and laughing with the rough, older patrons at the Backdoor Bar.

Now, though, was the start to a new daily routine, one that would hopefully keep her busy mind far more occupied than it had been. And so, she had woken up, rolled off a mattress that sat on the floor of her tiny room, pulled out a yoga mat from where she stowed it behind the boxes in her closet and spent an hour going through "salute to the sun". After that, it had been a quick shower, throwing on whatever was clean, and entering the kitchen long enough to pour a giant mug of disgustingly black coffee (the way she liked it, of course) and make some bread, spread with a thin layer of mayonnaise, smoked gouda, and bologna, a meal her mother had made for her countless mornings or whenever she had the need for a salty and savory snack. As she sat, quietly eating her food and downing her coffee, she cast a lazy glance about her surroundings. It had been almost four years since the Sutherlands had been stationed outside Kingdom Crest, since they had moved into the small, sunny yellow house in Knight Drive. But the house was still largely unpacked, not that the family had many belongings to begin with. It was mostly knick-knacks or souvenirs of their time abroad, a small table with exactly four, weather-worn wood chairs, and an old couch in the living room. The rest of the house was equally as spartan, the bare minimum pulled out of the handful of boxes stacked in each room of the small house, just enough to get through daily life. Eyree especially had never needed much, so this particular setup suited her just fine.

Belly fully and feeling the faintest buzz from her coffee, Eyree stood, her joints cracking and popping as she did.
An easy grin turned her lips as she slipped on her shoes, tightening her still-damp hair into a ponytail high on the back of her head, and grabbing her canvas bag from where she had left it outside the garage door the night before. There was a single car parked in the driveway, a metallic grey SUV, sturdy, fast, and capable of handling the rough driving of it's owner. Eyree locked the front door behind her, shouldering her bag, fishing her keys out with the hand not occupied with her second cup of black coffee.

“C’mon buddy I have to go.” The wails of a curly haired three-year-old pounded into the ear drums of his father who stood at the front door with one hand on the knob and the other on top of the little boy’s head in an attempt to ruffle his hair to calm in cries. It was no use and to the young father it only seemed to make the cries grow stronger. The young boy pressed his tear soaked face against his father leg and Issiah could swear on the gods that he heard his own heart break.

“Mama!” He called out to his mother who was in the kitchen, the sound of dishes and running water indicating she was finishing up cleaning after preparing a full course meal that she provided for breakfast.

“Adrian!” The thick Trinidadian accent rang out from the kitchen to the living room, catching the young child’s attention. Instantly the wails stopped and was replaced with sniffles when he heard the familiar voice of his grandmother. “Kiss your father and he will be back like magic, remember? Now hush that noise and come spend time with nana!” Issiah could feel the circulation to his right leg come back as his son slowly let go and looked up at hi with those bright brown eyes and pouted but lifted his arms to be picked up. Issiah happily obliged and scooped him up in his muscular arms.

“I’ll be home to read you a bedtime story, and we can have one cookie. Okay?” He placed a kiss on his forehead and two on his round cheeks and was rewarded with a smile.

“Si, papa!”

“That’s my boy!”

Placing one final kiss on his cheek, he lowered him to the floor and slipped out the door before the three-year-old could change his mind about missing the first day.

Sliding into the driver seat of his all black chrome GMC truck, Issiah tossed his bag into the back seat and settled in. He had meant to text Camilla ( Titaness Titaness ) last night to let her know he would give her a ride but when he pulled his phone out of his back pocket, he saw that it was too late. He sent a quick text with the side eye emoji and a “too good to wait for me huh” before putting his phone into one of his cup holders and backing up. His original plan was to head straight to school, no detours, no stops but he found himself making that familiar left and pulling up just two houses down in front of a yellow little home that he had spent many nights over the past summer and just like every time he pulled up, his heart skipped a beat. The low hum of his truck was enough to announce his presence but he rolled down his tinted window and stuck his head out, the lightly colored dreads pouring over his shoulders as a wide grin spread across his face when he noticed a raven-haired girl with an athletic build digging in her purse.

“I told you I was going to take your keys.” The young athlete called out to his best friend, referring to the night before when she drove like a madman back from dinner. Issiah ended up taking her keys and try as she might on her tip toes to reach them, he dangled them in front of her, just like he did now as he hung one hand out the window, the sound of car keys jingling following suit.

Kevin Kaile had been minding his own business, finally getting around to applying deodorant after he had found an empty bathroom, a fairly simple feat when one considered most students were already wandering around the music festival. From where they sat perched on the bathroom counter, they began to think about their current adventure. This was going pretty well, well enough he was contemplating the benefits of brushing one’s teeth at school so he could perhaps manage to fit enough time into his morning for eggs. That sounded like something his doctor would like, as well as his parents. However, any chance of this actually becoming reality was dashed as soon as he heard the bathroom door open. He eyes widened infinitesimally.

He wasn’t an idiot, and was perfectly aware that the arm up his shirt might raise some suspicions. Stupid. How could he have thought this was a bright idea at all? And of course this couldn’t just be some nobody, this was the leader of the Musicians! Wow, this just got worse! Someone with status had just walked into this bathroom. He smiled at the newcomer, about to say something like ‘Hi!’ or ‘This isn’t what it looks like, I swear!’, but the other simply went straight to the sink, apparently paying no attention to Kevin as he turned it on. Kevin let out a quiet sigh of relief as he sat there, slowly finishing what little application of deodorant they had left, hopefully not drawing Moses’s attention as he slid it out from under his shirt.

From there, he may have put the cap back on, sliding it back into the bag pocket from whence it came, if not for the fact that then he was being passed Moses’s glasses. Instead, they awkwardly took the glasses in their free hand, watching the other splash water on their face, just waiting for them to take their glasses back, keeping that smile firmly on their face. The smile turned to an impressed ‘o’ as he watched that paper towel arc, even making it into the trash can. “Rad,” they murmured as they looked back to the individual whose glasses they were currently holding, smile returning to his face as the other smiled as well. “No prob!” they said, voice infused with their usual amount of cheer, completely forgetting about the deodorant in their hand.

“SABINNNNNAAAAA!!”

Eden had whirled around at the sound of her name being called but a grin broke out across her face at the familiar tone of voice she had grown to love over the course of her time at Kingdom Crest. It was that lilt tone that made her summer wonderful. Immediately her arms open to take in her best friend’s embrace, her warmth immediately making Eden feel ten times better than what she felt this morning—this is why she came to school.

She stepped back from their embrace only to flip open her brown shoulder bag and rummage through while the pretty curly haired girl went on about the music festival.

“And do you have—“ before Sabina said Advil, Eden had already brought out a small bottle. Taking her hand, she flipped it over and placed two pills into her palm.

“I’m good, I won’t need any Advil” She said placing both hands on her hips and making sure to pout her lips and give an eyeroll before tossing up her hand near Sabina’s face—a poor attempt at mocking her before dropping her hand down and giving her friend a smug look.

“That was you, two nights ago.”

As she waited for Sabina to down the two pills, Eden looked around the massive office to see if she saw in familiar faces. She was looking for Van but he had already made his escape, and the more she looked, the more crowded everything seemed to get.

Let’s get out of here! Eden said to Sabina before taking her by the hand and pushing past the large crowd with a ‘scuse me, pardon me, and a beep beep.

“They got this food booth, I saw it and I gotta eat.” Damn the festival. No. Not really, that was just her stomach talking as it growled for attention.

Nik smiled when he heard Pari talking to him, but took a few seconds to get one last shot before turning to her. He didn't want blurry photos, since he was sure the group of younger students all wearing similar festival makeup was going to make it onto the website, and he didn't want to ruin that perfect shot. Though as soon as Pari got into the line of the lens, Nik took a photo of her before bringing it down. That last shot might've been a little blurry, but Nik wasn't going to find out till he had the chance to look, and it wasn't like it was going to go anywhere either.

"Pari, I think I'd need a drone to get a good angle. Half the kids here are bigger than me." Nik slides next to her into the line, not really cutting in line because he was ahead beforehand, but he wanted a quick second to check out his photos before he got his armband. He started to sift through the most recent shots, already starting the editing process by deleting photos with blurs, or photos that he didn't particularly like. "And I'm going to need to get onto the roof if I want a good shot of the crowd."

In the photo album on his camera the first shot was of Pari, since it was the last photo, and he let Pari take a good look at the candid shot of her. He didn't really verbally ask if it stood up to her standards, but then turning the camera screen for someone to take a look was pretty universal. Taking photos of people was a social thing, there were unspoken rules, and Nik at least had those social norms down pat. Though with all the other students he didn't bother. They all signed the waver forms for the school, and these pictures were going to go straight to the school. Really, he was the unofficial photographer, since paying for one probably wasn't in their budget.

A commotion got Nik's attention though, and Van came down the hall still on his bike. Nik couldn't help but quietly laugh as he turned his camera back to shooting mode and lifted it to his eyes so he could take a good shot. Oh he was totally going to send this one to the Vice Principal, because Nik could already hear staff yelling at Van, and he knew this was going to rile the Vice up. No way was it going on the school's website, but Nik was gonna enjoy knowing the Vice got mad at a simple picture. Though Nik didn't get the chance to yell back at Van after his cool stunt, and really big skip of the line. He just gave a thumbs up with one hand, while the other still held up the camera to get some good shots of Van backpedaling.

Water cascaded down a fit body, falling first on the groggy face of Vincent Donatello. His dark eyes were closed, wet lashes clinging to the soft edges of his cheeks just below the round of his eye and his soft lips were parted just enough so that the droplets of water slipped from his top lip to his bottom one before framing around the supple shape of them and dripping down his chin that held a rugged detail of stubble. He kept it neat, so it looked good. Manly. Very, very slowly, he exhaled to keep from drawing any water into his lungs. He wasn't successfully taking a shower, but it was warm and wet enough to relax him and wake him up simultaneously.

He had hardly slept. Unsurprising really. First day back from the summer. He would have to put up his front again. Become a chameleon to the ways of the rich.

He made a disgusted noise, something along the lines of a snort. His luck was clearly not on his side because as he did so, a significant amount of water was drawn in through his nose and his eyes immediately widened. The snorting sound swiftly morphed into that which could be likened to a choking noise. Straightening his body, he reached to turn off the water. With a satisfying silence that followed, the shower was over. He stood there for a moment, enjoying the cool air that wafted in on him before he reached for his towel. He dried his body first, then his hair.

Just as he was finishing up his hair, he heard a noise from his room. It was quiet at first, a gentle beep, but soon he recognized it for what it really was. The screaming alarm from his bedside table. Apparently, he had forgotten to turn it off. His shoulders drooped. he felt like he just couldn't win this morning.

"Vincenzo! Passerotto your alarm is going off. Turn it off, please. Your Nonno is still sleeping." His mother's voice rang out over the alarm and he rolled his eyes.

Yes, he cared about the fact that his grandfather was asleep. But did his mother really think she would make matters any better by yelling over the loudest sound in their house? Still, he knew if he didn't respond to her, she would only yell louder, so he crafted his response quickly and called back to her. "Sì, madre. I am turning it off!"

He hefted a heavy sigh before leaving his bathroom and pattering into his carpeted room, switching his alarm to the off position. He stared at it a moment longer, calculating whether he would still have time to go to the park...as he had spent quite a while in the shower. He decided that no, he did not, so he quickly dressed for school, grabbed his messenger bag that was already prepped with everything he would need for class, and headed out on his 2016 Harley Davidson. Custom made. He called her Jesse, and boy did he love her, despite having no huge attachment to material objects.

Upon arrival, Vince parked his baby in a decent parking spot where he knew no twerps would bother her, then headed inside. He was slightly surprised at the large masses of people he encountered, but after a few seconds of inspection and pure intuition, he found that there was some sort of event. Hmm. So they were still at it. The activities that always seemed rather forced but were meant to be fun.

He would go, of course. There were friends that he would like to support. But of course, nothing would ever be fun if she were to be there. And he still hoped he wouldn't see her. Even thoughts of her had his emotions simply steaming. Not wanting to be unhappy so early in the day, Vince pushed any thoughts of Estelle Plantagenet from his mind as he stood in line to get his red wrist band.

"Drone? Well those aren't hard to make at all." She responded looking down at her phone when she felt it buzz in her pocket, her mother asking what time she would be mom. She rolled her eyes shoving her phone back into her pocket. "Though I believe a step ladder would be cheaper for you" She said with a small grin, she was at Nik's height, tall side for a girl but it was rather short for a boy. "Rooftop access eh? Your with the big league over there. Is that how the school is having you spend this festival? Taking pictures"

She glanced down at the picture, to be fair she knew nothing about pictures of quality but it looked good. Though she never really liked having her picture taken but that kinda of shit can never be avoided on big school events like this. "Cool shot looks like a girl with mega bitchface, syndrome" She said walking up as the line was finally moving.

Pari glared as Van rolled away, too bad that there were no grades to mess with, she'd love to give the guy a panic attack. "At least he knows I'm the queen" She murmured Finally the lines moved she got her band pulling it up to her forearm so she didn't have to worry about it falling off her wrist.

He furrowed his eyebrows when Van just rolled by in his bike. He was pretty sure that was violating some type of school rules but he was glad that he was having fun at least. The hallway was filled with the murmurs of the students' conversations mingling in with the few announcements that they had for the day. Mostly about the events that were being organized.

Hugo lit up when he saw Vince get in line behind him "Dude! I feel like I haven't seen in over a thousand years. How was your summer?" He asked though he blushed when a few kids glanced back at him because he was speaking too loudly. His volume was something hard to control when he got excited. It also made his voice higher which was even more embarrassing so he coughed to cover it up.

Finally, the line was moving up. And he walked up backwards so he didn't have to turn around. It was a bit weird being around Vince, sure they were in the same clique both being artist but Hugo has been nursing a small crush on the dude. Something he had to get over soon because he was really sure he wasn't interested. Hugo didn't keep the whole gay thing a secret, it was just that people didn't ask and so he had no one to tell.

She was beginning to regret going to that party last night before. By the time Kaia’s alarm went off, jolting her abruptly and rudely from her deep sleep, she was dealing with a nasty headache, fuzzy teeth, and a general grumpiness. But it had been the final thrill of the summer for her, sneaking out from under her parents’ noses to cavort with her peers after spending a harrowing day deep cleaning the church building to prepare for the school crowd. It was surprisingly easier to get away with such things during the school year when she could blame her absences on after school activities or long study sessions, taking all the excitement out of it for her.

Though, she didn’t feel particularly excited right now. Right now she just felt irritable. Grumbling some obscenities certainly not fit for the preacher’s daughter, Kaia slipped from her bed, stumbling only slightly, and made her way into the small bathroom. Thankfully, with only her and her younger brother being the only children in the house, it wasn’t occupied. Grabbing her toothbrush and the tube of toothpaste, she stepped into the shower, sighing as the scalding water washed over her skin. It made her feel slightly better with just that single need taken care of, but her headache throbbed again, reminding her of its annoying insistence. Kaia didn’t waste time, brushing her teeth while simultaneously washing the evidence of last night from her hair and body. She popped a few Advil, praying they’d take effect soon.

The rest of the morning was dull and unimportant as far as she was concerned. She came down, dressed and with a fresh face of makeup, to see her younger brother sitting at the table, staring morosely at a bowl of cereal. Her father sat opposite him, intrigued with the morning paper and her mother already on the phone making her social calls for the day. “Morning, Aaron,” she greeted warmly, squeezing the younger boy’s shoulders affectionately. He murmured a hello but gave no other acknowledgement. Grabbing a cup of yogurt from the fridge and an orange from the counter, she shoved both into her bag. “Have a good day at school. I’ll be back tonight and you can tell me all about it, kay?” He nodded slowly, the first flicker of a smile finally turning his features.

It was only a block from their comfy house in King Acres to her bus stop and Kaia, no matter how much she may have drank the night before, was always punctual. Sure enough, she was there well before the other students who took the bus and she took the time to eat her breakfast in peace. Other students began to slowly trickle towards the bus stop until the obnoxious yellow vehicle finally lumbered into sight. Some upperclassmen had very low opinions on the school transit, preferring to drive their own cars or walk than be seen on the unsightly thing. Kaia had no such reservations. Among the freshmen and sophomores on the bus, she was a queen, the upper echelon of the student body. There was almost a sort of reverence that they bestowed upon her, amazed that she would grace her with their presence, one that suited the fair-skinned blonde quite nicely.

Three stops and fifteen minutes later, the bus deposited the students into the bus bay. Kaia wasted no time making her way towards the front of the school. She had heard the rumors of a music festival the school was putting on, something to get the students energized and excited for the new school year. For her, that meant she could prowl the empty school and be relatively undisturbed while everyone else enjoyed themselves listening to the sometimes mediocre talents of the musically-inclined student body (though there were certainly others who were worth seeing perform). All around the school were little signs with arrows directing students to the attendance office. She approached the short line out of the office, pausing when she saw a familiar face. “Hello, Vince,” she said in way of greeting, sliding up alongside him. It was only then that she noticed Hugo also standing beside him and her smile widened. "Ah, and Hugo! Good to see you both again!"

Baby you're like lightning in a bottle I can't let you go now that I got it

tagged: mikaluvkitties mikaluvkitties (Kevin Kaile)

With closer inspection, Moses thinks he might recognize the other person. The name is on the tip of his tongue, something he just can't grasp. It slips through his fingers even though Moses remembers the face with clarity, recognizing him as one of the techies that help the musicians out with AMVs every once in while. There isn't any embarrassment from him about forgetting though, and Moses slowly slides his glasses back onto his face as he speaks again. "Name?" The words are curt and not exactly kind, but that's just how Moses sounds in general. He just wants to get a name to put it to this face, wants to leave this bathroom so he can wander about the festival before he has to perform.

"Ah, I'm Moses." He adds on as an afterthought, eyes flicking towards the door and then to study the techie. It was then that Moses noticed the stick of deodorant, and it makes him pause, eyes blinking under round rims before he shrugs to himself. It isn't his business, really, and Moses doesn't care enough to judge. What could he even really judge about? Look, there's someone who's keeping hygienic? Thinking about it, that might be why he was standing there like a convenient glasses holder instead of gone with the wind, away from their bathrooms that are frankly too gross to want to stay in for long. He'll assume that the other is done though, so he heads towards the door and motions for the techie to follow him.

The door going out is the type you need to pull open, and because Moses's mother ingrained in him to be clean-

"Do you know how unsanitary these public bathrooms are Moses? Do you know how unsanitary anything out in public is Moses? You're going to get diseased if you don't pay careful attention to what you touch and where you sit."

He takes another paper towel and pulls open the door, wadding it up and throwing it into the trashcan. He misses. But whatever, he's not bending down to pick that thing up. He's leaving.

She showered last night. Thank God, because she almost didn't wake up this morning. Edelweiss, or Edie as she preferred, had been up late. Late as in four in the morning, when he usually got up at five thirty. She knew she probably shouldn't have slept. Her body already hated her for it. But she was no time lord so there would be no do-overs. She was just going to have to deal with a fatigued body and bags under eyes that probably qualified as luggage now.

Currently, she sat on the edge of her bed, which she had already made (her Aunt would be pissed if she kept it untidy). She was running her fingers through her hair, removing it from the braid it had been in before. "Still damp. Damn it." She should have known better, but frankly, functioning at any sort of capacity at the moment was a struggle. Why? She was tired. Why didn't she sleep? She had used up all of her stash and hadn't been able to get more. No money equals no weed.

Finished with her hair, letting it hand on her cardigan covered shoulders, she stood up and walked to her desk. She pulled open one of the drawers and pulled a makeup bag from the depths of it. Inside the makeup bag was nothing more than a plastic bag with small orange pills in it. Adderall. For how else was she supposed to focus today? Grabbing a half-empty water bottle from her night stand, she swallowed one down before returning the bag to its hiding place. As she did so, she noticed a sheet of paper with writing on it. She squinted, her eyes still a little too groggy to work at their full 20/20....even with her contacts in. She recognized the writing as her own very quickly, and when her gaze settled on one simple word at the top: Papa, she snatched up the paper and hurriedly folded it. She realized she must have forgotten and left it out before taking her shower. After it was folded, she shoved it into an envelope, addressed it as fast as she could....and then dropped it inside a box in her closet.

She headed out of her house just in time to catch her bus. No breakfast. Eating it always made her nauseated. At least, that's what she told herself. She just didn't like to eat.

About a half hour later, she was stepping off the bus and onto the hard concrete sidewalk that lined the front of the school. There were quite a few people there, but she paid no attention. She didn't like talking to anyone. Instead, she kept her head turned down and her hands clasped tightly on the straps of her backpack as she walked to stand in line to get her red wristband.

Some people might have been thrown off by someone not knowing their name, but Kevin honestly didn’t mind. It was one of the most obvious signs they weren’t memorable, wasn’t it? And this wasn’t even someone they either saw or hung out with often enough to be remembered.

“I’m Kevin!” he replied, all sunshine as he swung his legs. Moses kept talking, as if they didn’t already know who he was, and Kevin couldn’t fight a snort. They quickly clarified, “Don’t worry, dude, I know who you are.” He followed Moses’s glance to the door quickly, wondering if he had somehow missed someone else entering. After staring there for long enough to realize that no, he had not, he turned back as Moses was studying him, following the other’s gaze to the deodorant still in his hand. Oh. Right. He quickly returned the cap to the deodorant bar, sliding it back into his bag before starting to zip it up. He almost didn’t notice as the musician began to walk towards the door. Thankfully, he looked up in time to catch the motion to follow him, and he decided he might as well. What else was he gonna do, right?

He popped off the counter, watching Moses take another paper towel in his hand, using it to open the door as Kevin slung his bag over his shoulder. Weird. However, Kevin’s eyes lit up he was wadding up another paper towel ball, and Kevin just had to see him land another one in the trash, alright? He thought it looked pretty cool, even if it wasn’t crazy impressive, and more than a little bit trivial. He watched the arc and- oh, it missed. Dang. He wasn’t gonna get it, though he was gonna stare at it for a second, thinking to himself, smile still play tugging at the very edges of his mouth. In fact, he was gonna to stare at it for a long enough second the door closed. He snapped back to where he was at the sound, quickly opening the door and hurrying after Moses.

He began speaking as he fell into pace next to Moses. ”So you wanted me to follow, right? I assume that’s what the hand signal was. What’re you up to? Just gonna hang out around the festival?”

After a breath, they continued. “Because if so I’m thinking it could be cool to see if they’ve got any games set up. Haven’t had enough time to check out what’s there yet. Just got here a while ago, y’know? Omg, are you gonna be performing? That sounds super cool!” And finally, he stopped talking, giving the other a moment to speak.

Estelle Antoinette Plantagenet

clique: the beloved's leader
location: plantagenet's estate - kingdom crest
scenario: "the long awaited festival"

The sound of the soft tune of the piano echoed down the white, french marble hallways of the Plantagenet's Estate. With each key that was pressed, the piano wires moved up and down, as the melody expressed hidden layers of suppressed emotions. The young woman's soul was intertwined within the piece as her fingers moved daintily and delicately along the keys. Although the serene music echoed in the estate so early in the morning, it seemed the Lady of the House and the Lord of the House hadn't stirred from their slumber, in fact, it only caused them to drift further into a restful state of mind. Music had always been the source of individuality, especially since it can be interpreted differently depending on the person. In the young lady of the house's case, it brought comfort and the ability to express her truest spirit and feeling within the notes of the melody, even if she doesn't quite understand herself, music never lies.

It had been a few months since she had last touched the keys of her soul. The Plantagenets had just returned home from Verona, Italy. Estelle Plantagenet had a marvelous time sight-seeing and enjoying her getaway from home. The culture and the people of Verona were lovely, even more so, Estelle loved the wide variety of food and the experience to just be able to take in the wonders of the country. Nevertheless, despite being on vacation, she had also made it her duty to involve herself in Student Government's affairs, making sure the Music Festival event that Kingdom Crest was having was a success. Estelle honestly couldn't wait to hear the music of those who applied to compete in the festival. If anything, Estelle would have to encourage the person whom she believed would win, right? It was only a matter of listening to the voice inside the music. She wouldn't cause herself to vote for the one who she believed wouldn't win, so in that case, whoever had her vote should consider themselves lucky. She, afterall, would never lose to someone else, nope, not over her designer clothes and name brand purse.

As the clock ticked, Estelle had already finished her music piece a few moments ago. She always liked being on time and for that to happen, she needed to always have a set time in her planner. Her daily planner was basically her life, without it, she honestly would be lost and go ballistics. Estelle loved to time manage, especially when she hates wasting precious second. With that, Estelle got up from her seat and began to head towards her room, making sure to find appropriate clothing for the festival. First impressions always mattered the most. Once Estelle had found the perfect outfit,
she readied herself neatly with poise and grace. With her head held high, shoulders back, Estelle walked with composure and self-respect. She had always had the elegance of a princess which only made her raise her chin up higher as her lips curved into a haughty smile. Getting into her luxury European Porsche, Estelle had settled herself in quickly before heading off towards campus. She hadn't bothered to tell her parents good-bye since she hadn't seen her Father since they came back yesterday and her Mother was probably passed out with the sleeping pills she had taken for her "beauty" sleep.

Soon, she arrived on campus, though she had to admit, she had a little fun going pass the speed limits on the road when no one was around, especially since she arrived early on campus. As she parked her car in a secluded area where no one would bother to mess up or dirty her car, Estelle walked inside the school, making sure to greet her professors. It was routine for her to greet every person on campus, staff and professors alike. She made it her mission to be known on campus, no matter how little or big a person's reputation was. Estelle was a person to know and hear about despite being dirt poor or filthy rich. She wanted the world to know that Estelle Plantagenet was back in Kingdom Crest and ready to reign another successful year.

Once students began filing into the doors of campus, Estelle decided to leave the Student Government office and head down the hallways towards the Main office to get her wrist band for the Music Festival. Of course, when she arrived, there were plenty of people who moved to the side for her to go through as it should be. As Estelle got in line, she waited patiently, taking out her phone to see if she had any missed messages or anything on the agenda she needed to get done before, during, and after the Festival. Plus, there were some people she saw that she wasn't fond of and had no intention of giving them the time of day or even the joy of trying to ruffle her "feathers".

When the guy in front of him turned around and revealed himself as Hugo, Vince couldn't stop the grin from spreading across his expression. Nor did he want to, frankly. His fellow clique member and a really good friend of his, Hugo never failed to brighten up his day. His own eyebrows shot up when the guy spoke- a touch too loud in case you were wondering- before he chuckled. It was a deep, sensual sound, but not done on purpose. His voice was naturally smooth as silk and likened itself to the low sound of a cello. "Summer was good. A lot of the family came to visit from Italy...so the house was full of old Italian people. Probably had way too much pasta."

He chuckled again and rubbed his stomach for emphasis. "And what about you? how was your summer?"

As he listened to Hugo answer his question, he couldn't help but notice as Kaia Knight slid up beside him. His eyes watched her as she approached, her body moving much like a cat, graceful and poised. He found her incredibly attractive, that was no lie, and he never tried to hide it. Perhaps that was why it had been so easy to become involved with her...and several occasions. But above all, she was a friend.

His face lit up with a smile when she greeted him, and he was quick to return it. "Hello, dear." He wrapped her into a gentle hug, his favorite way of saying hello, and when he pulled back from it, he lifted her hand to his lips and kissed it- a very chivalrous greeting. Anyone who had ever known him would not be surprised.

He straightened up, placing his hands in his pockets and taking on a very relaxed pose. "Did you miss me this summer?" His joyful smile shifted into a charming smirk as he asked it, and his eyes settled on her soft face, waiting for her response.

Aleksej Kasun

location: school -- front office | status: bored & tired | with: estelle plantagenet deer deer

The blank canvas stared at Aleksej. A paintbrush laid inside a bottle of red paint, another brush resting on the easel. Brushing his hand over the rough paper, he closed his eyes trying to bring to mind an image he could paint. All he saw was Vance's dead body. His eyelids fluttered open. His lips twitched and he forced them into a thin line. He stood and went over to his paint, capping whatever he had opened and taking his brushes to wash. Along the way, he stooped to pick up a balled up piece of canvas.

The clock in the living room struck seven just as he reached the bathroom. Birds from outside flew into a frenzy. He used to hate that but now, it melted into the noise of a waking neighbourhood. He could hear his mother opening her bedroom door, her footsteps shuffling across the chipped tiles.

"Alek?" she called out.

He turned the tap on knowing it wouldn't do anything to hide his presence from her. But just for a little while more, he wanted to avoid facing the world.

It was damn near impractical to skateboard to school but Aleksej did it all the same regardless. Whizzing by people and the scenery, focusing purely on maintaining his speed and not crash into anything helped in keeping his scattered mind off its more insidious thoughts. But today was a little different. He went faster than usual, his usual equilibrium thrown off. Maybe it was waking up at 5 (even though he always did that), maybe it was his poor attempt at painting, but whatever it was, it was enough to distract him. Enough to make him slide over a gap in the pavement and lose his balance.

His board flew out from under him and he hit the ground. He barely managed to break his fall, scraping his palms and knees. Panic had surged up in him and left him breathless. Pushing himself up, he noticed the shocked looks of the people around him. Gritting his teeth, he stood up and walked over to where his board had fell. His scrapes still throbbed and he grimaced at how bad the abrasion on his left knee was.

"Fuck me," he muttered. He eyed his skateboard ruefully before tucking it under his arm and walking the rest of the way to school.

Once he reached, he made a beeline for the nurse's office. His palms and knees were yellow now-- no thanks to the iodine, and some blood could still be seen. Another sigh escaped him and he went over to the front office. What a terrific start to his first day.

"'Scuse, coming through," he murmured as he pushed his way through a throng of students at the front office. Someone pushed back against him and he turned, snapping at them, "Don't block the damn entrance."

Ignoring the student's belligerent response, he finally reached the line. He found himself staring at a familiar fluff of platinum blond hair. He reached out to tap her shoulder then held back, checking his fingers over. She would probably kill him if he got iodine on her clothes. Ascertained his fingers were clean, he tapped her.

"Hey Estelle." He was hardly one to initiate conversation but in between the pounding music in the festival grounds and his godawful morning, he really needed a distraction. "Queueing in line with the rest of us? I thought you'd demand to be first." He gave her a cheeky grin (which evidently had no heart) to show he was kidding.

Tasia Mcknight: Home-School

The green from the ground.Moving. Waving. Dancing to the beat of the wind. Or to the beat of the excited young girl in her room gathering each and every instrument she had for the festival. Her ukulele, tenor saxophone, acoustic guitar, bassoon, and maracas. Tasia might as well been a musician, but music was just a pass time, her favorite hobby. Something she'd do professionally if any of her business ideas go through. As the girl packed she looked over her shoulder to look at the time. Time to get going. Tasia put her bassoon case on her back, her guitar and ukulele in the same hand, and her tenor sax with the wheels in her last hand with her maracas. Tasia walked outside her room into what seemed to be an endless hallway. Tasia covered the corridor in the matter of seconds to the kitchen.
There was her mother with her father cooking together,"Bonjou(good morning). About to go" Tasia said to the couple with bags under there eyes. Still tired her father walked over to Tasia and gave her a hug."Bonjou sunshine. I'll walk you to the car" the now actually waking up father said to his eager daughter. Tasia's mother gave her a kiss on her cheek before leaving. Walking out to the car Terence opened the car door for his daughter to put her stuff in and after she packed the car Tasia gave him a hug and he kissed Tasia on her cheek,"Good luck my little vanyan sòlda(warrior)". Tasia then jumped into the car and started it the object now coming to life with a quiet mumble. As the car danced out of the driveway the flowers watched happily waving at Tasia as she made her way to school.
The vehicle slowed down as it eased its way into its own space getting quieter, and quieter. Until it... Tasia got out the car and took her ukulele and tenor sax in one hand, her bassoon on her back, and her left hand empty. Tasia was planning on making a second trip as she walked into the school full of hope. Once inside Tasia walked into the office and got in line for the festival. Faster than the speed of light Tasia's eyes checked everywhere in the room for people she knew. No one,but there was that Estelle girl who seemed nice. Tasia never really talked to her but she knew Estelle was the queen bee of her clique and that probably meant something, but to Tasia it meant only that she was popular. There was a dude with her,but the girl didn't care as she approached. Tasia stopped and stood next to the boy observing Estelle's reaction if she even had one. This one going to be an interesting day.

The slight grin on Hadley's face displayed his growing amusement, he released a light chuckle at her defence of the usage of dated language; putting it down to experimenting with new words, which was incongrous because they were actually old words, though Hadley wouldn't mention that. "They would be at a loss that's where, everyone should consider themselves lucky to have a Hadley in their lives," he jested, shrugging his shoulders in the process. Although, he was quite serious about the caffeine. Hadley swore his body had become accustomed to its consumption, to the point where he felt a part of him was missing when he didn't have any. He had finished the last bit of coffee beans they had in the mansion last night and they had been out of expresso shots for a while, Hadley's parents had been trying to ease their son out of his addiction so kept 'forgetting' to add coffee beans and shots to the shopping list. Though their attempts were still to no avail, Hadley made a mental note to make a quick stop at the grocery store later to fuel his caffeine ache. For the meantime, he would have to settle for the inadequate coffee the school brewed up.

The eighteen year old was unable to subdue another small chuckle at Tati's own sarcasm. "If you ever do go through a party animal phase, make sure you give me a call because I just cannot miss you attempting to dance." Hadley took a brief moment to scan the area as Tati became slightly distracted by Nathan, though he was friends with the guy, Hadley knew what he was like so let him be instead of drawing attention to him - knowing Nathan was more of the reserved type. More students began to pile into the school grounds, likely going to check out the various booths before the actual performances started. Once Tati informed him of her book count his attention snapped back to her, "You're actually wrong, I only read ten, travelling for two months hinders the time available for reading after all." He commented, reminiscing for a second over his summer travels. Hadley had spent two months in their time off travelling to an assortment of disparate places around the globe with his English cousin, Elizabeth. A whole month spent visiting countries around Europe from Norway to Spain and the numerous places in between. Another month was spent island hopping around the Caribbean, which he still sported quite the tan from. "You'll have to give me a list of the books you want, I could get my dad to even give you a signed copy of his latest book as well if you want," he added.

Hadley turned, hearing the familiar voice of Camilla beside him and Tati. Rolling his eyes at her remark, he still wore his trademark grin. "I can only say the same about seeing my favourite pothead," he returned as the trio finally reached where the booths were situated. Surveying the vicinity for a sign of someone selling some caffeine goodness, Hadley's gaze finally rested on his bitter prize. "I heard you were performing today Cami, you really should sing more often by the way, I only heard you that one time I was hanging out with Moses. Are you going to grace us with the knowledge of your song choice or is that a surprise?" he said as he sauntered to the stand selling breakfast food and immediately brought a large double expresso since he doubted they knew what his usual ristretto was. He sipped on his beverage as he spun to face his fellow Gurus once again.

Camilla returned Tatiana's hug by giving her a tight squeeze. "Ha, I know, but it still feels like I haven't seen you in forever. At least this way, we won't be too busy to see each other, or at least I won't be." Camilla did her best to hang out with Tatiana whenever she was free but during the summer, but her part-time job turned into a full-time job. She had to help pay for her addiction as well as Azayah's babysitter, since both Camilla and her mom weren't able to be home with her all the time.

Camilla chuckled at Hadley's response and replied, "Quiet down pretty boy, that's not legal here yet. Last thing I want is to get in trouble or worse, have my mom find out." Camilla was only kidding, as she doubted anyone heard Hadley's quip due to everyone bustling about trying to find food or somewhere to sit on the lawn. She followed Hadley as she knew what he was already looking for. Caffeine. She had prepared him many cups of Joe to know that he wasn't complete until he had coffee or a cup of it in his hand. Her phone buzzed lightly in her pocket but before she pulled it out Hadley spoke to her again.

"Um yeah I am performing. I just thought why not?" Camilla scoffed at the thought of him suggesting that she sing more often. "Maybe if I were an aspiring musician or something, but my mom would kill me." Hadley mentioning Moses startled her a bit but she hid her expression. HE heard ME singing? Unreal. Camilla vaguely knows of Moses since they share a Biology class together and he's also in the book club. Anyone who is anyone at Kingdom Crest may not care for cliques or the people in them but they at least knew who the leaders were. And the leader of the musicians actually heard her singing. No big deal. She was nervous to ask Hadley what Moses thought about it but she decided against it.

At this moment she pulled out her phone to see a text from Issiah, since Hadley quickly left the group to go feed his own addiction. She gave a short laugh before she shot him back a text with a wink emoji at the end. 'Or maybe I'm too good to be kept waiting?' She also had a text from her mother telling her that she should at least say that she was leaving the house. She rolled her eyes and put her phone away as Hadley returned.

"I mean I have an idea of what I'm going to sing, but I'm always open to suggestions. What do you think Tati?"

Killy Murdock

Location: School's Festival
Action: Stalking Neri Neri , Auricula Auricula
With an alarm blaring loudly, a fist came down to quickly silence the noise, followed by a groan of annoyance. Killy rolled over in bed and looked at the clock that had just woken him up from his wonderful dreams of becoming a Champion in UFC. Killy grumbled lowly and eventually found himself up and out of the bed, he never enjoyed first days of school and it was almost history for him to forget about it and wake up late, however sometimes he would wake up early and just choose not to go to the first day, but this was different. Today, Killy wanted to establish some good footing in school today and see some of the new people that were coming. Also he was hoping that some decent music would be playing as he was in need of some new workout songs. Deciding it to be best, he showered, ate an apple and grabbed his water and began his journey to the school's festival. Killy decided to get a good jog in on the way so that he could at least start his daily exercise and make up for some of the food he planned on eating today, the weather felt nice to him, and he didn't think it was going to change so dressing light was his choice. A simple black tank-top and some black shorts for a casual jog, and in his backpack, a change of clothes for when he was done. The other set was comprised of a pair of loose fitting jeans and a blue and white flannel. Placing in his earbuds and cranking up his music, Killy began his journey over to the school's festival, zoning out of everything else along the way.

Once Killy arrived at the school, he tucked his belongings into his pockets once more and began meandering around, he already knew he was going to be berated by the people in the office for being late but he really didn't seem to care. But of course, since they try to help "troubled youths" such as himself, they let him sign in after a few promises of "it not becoming a habit". Killy then joined the actual Festival area, scanning around to locate some of his friends yet it seems like they didn't want to show up today either. This caused Killy to frown, he hated not having a group to hang out with sometimes in crowded areas as it felt like he had someone watching his back, which would let him be a bit more free to act the way he normally does. Alas, without a group, he would stand at the outskirts and just watch in. Occasionally Killy found himself glancing at his phone, looking at a single picture that one of his friends sent him a few days ago, a new potential target, I believe Jimmy said her name was...Aiden?....No no no...Eden? I think so., Killy thought to himself. Hopefully I can find her roaming around, she seems like a goody-two-shoes. Why else would she have ratted out my friends. A sigh followed and he tucked the phone back into his pocket, furrowing his brow as he scanned with much more focus into the crowd. With so many people it was becoming difficult to even make out individual faces from a distance. With his stomach growling, Killy found his gaze turning towards the food and frowning, he didn't want to eat anything yet as he wanted to stick to his meal times, and quickly averted his gaze.

His eyes however, glanced back about halfway, catching a glimpse of someone familiar. A devilish grin came to Killy's face, many who had seen this type of grin before normally would want to avoid him as it normally meant a sadistic side of him was about manifest. His fingers dug into his pockets as he grabbed his earbuds, placing the one for his left ear in, and the right, wrapped around his ear but not inside, and he began to walk towards the same direction as they were, avoiding to gun directly for them, or to make eye contact too much as he didn't want to make it painfully obvious to those around him. Being caught could spell trouble for his plans and at the moment, it seemed he had the drop on them. Once again, in the back of his mind, Killy thought to himself, They shouldn't know who I am exactly...right? I mean, the possibility that they know my face and have seen it before, but has my name and actions spread well with this face? I may need to avoid their sight, especially that Eden, if she does know who I am, and she does see me. She will know exactly why I am here. Let the information game, begin.

Eva Sinclair

She would miss spain. Such a beauty country, filled with music and colors and if all that got too loud it was easy to slip away and look at it’s grand forests and quiet sound of nature. Her mother had taken her, as a celebration because it was her final year in High School. Her father would have preferred she’d have went on tour with him parading around his family to show everyone how good of a father he was. She would rate him 6/10 in the fatherhood department and that would be without getting into the complicated shit.

She’d been laying in her bed for a while, listening to the soft song of the robins outside. Her room smelled of lavender and laundry detergent, it calmed her. She wasn’t exactly stressing about the first day of school. It was just a music festival. At the same time, festivals met crowds and people and voice mingling. Stomach turning she sat up grounding her feet on the plush carpet. She took in one deep breath… then another. It would be fine, if she needed to leave she’ll just leave.

She heard a soft knock at the door and it creaked open her mother popping her head out from the hallways. “Hey there Nuer” Her mother said walking into the room. Her mother was a small petite woman with pretty dark hair and kind eyes. “Are you excited for the first day of school.”

“You know I’m not”

Her mother sighed “I know but it’s your last year. Your father dropped one of the couches so you’ll have some free time. It’s going to be better I can feel it”

Eva smiled a little bit, she still wasn’t sure if it was going to be good but at least her mother seemed to be optimistic for them both. Her mother gave her a kiss on the forehead before leaving. Eva showered, dressed, wearing a bluee summer dress because she wanted it to be summer forever. She descended down the stairs seeing her father at the table. She sat at the table across from him and they silently ate the breakfast prepared by her mother before her father spoke.

“I missed you on my tour”

Eva paused, it sounded like one of those statements that met something else. She rose an eyebrow at him “Mom did tell you was I going to spain with her right?”

He sighed and shook his head making Eva grit her teeth. Her mother put down the coffee and sat down “Eva what your father means is that he’d have liked you on tour with him but I explained to him you deserve a nice vacation.”

“You can’t keep explaining things to her, she won’t always have us"

Eva zoned out of the conversation tapping her fingers on the tables 1,1,3,4,7 several times before her mother finally ready to leave. She picked a flower on the way to the car and picked the petals one by one. And took the stem and chew it on the way, her mother didn’t say anything and she was glad. She gave her mother a kiss on the cheek before heading for the office. She saw Estelle in the line and went for her.

She heard the blonde boy’s comment and rose her eyebrows at him, not hearing the kidding tone or body language “She probably could and should do that” She stood beside Estelle and gave her a smile. “Hey there, how’s your summer been?” She was just glad to be around Estelle, since they usually shopped together she’d become a part of her routine during the school year it was difficult being in spain and knowing she couldn’t just call up her friend to check out the local shops.

God why are you so dreamy, Hugo thought thanking the lord that he was on the tan side and his blush could be just brushed off as him being hot. Even if it was august… and we were in an air conditioned room. Whatever, nobody was that observant, he tried rationalizing. Then again, artist are usually always looking very closely at people. Though the more he thought about it the hotter the room seemed to get. Why was he wearing a jacket!? Shit, Vince is saying something about his summer.

“Mama mia you must have had some good as pasta!” He said almost automatically and then realized what he said “Uhm… I’m sorry that was…” He looked down ashamed “You can disown me now” Dammit, he thought to himself he really needed to learn how to install a filter to him brain. Though he couldn’t say that he hasn’t done that before just said thing automatically just because it popped in his brains, it’s how Mr Sanchez gets so many ‘that’s what she said jokes’ getting thrown his way by his adopted son.

Then he noticed Kaia walking up towards the line he grinned at her waving at her quickly as she walked up “Hey there! It’s great to see you too! The summer looks like it’s treated you well!” Kaia was a pretty girl and he was rather jealous of her legs, and height.

“We were just talking about pasta.. I mean summer. I drew a lot in the park, binged watched shit on netflix and Mr. San- my dad took my for a ride on his police cruiser. How about you? How was your summer” He’d been walking backwards this whole time as the line slowly inched forward and he stumbled when his back hit the front desk. He quickly signed in and red the band. He wondered if he could fit it around his head and stretched it to see if it would fit. Dammit no go. He settled with putting it on his wrist.

MOSES ZHANG-LI
Baby you're like lightning in a bottle I can't let you go now that I got it

tagged: mikaluvkitties mikaluvkitties (Kevin Kaile)

Kevin gives him a smile like sunshine and Moses blinks like he's been blinded. His words are fast and rapid fire, so much that Moses has to take a few seconds just to register all of them. Because of that, there's a five second silence when Kevin stops to let Moses speak, five seconds of one Asian staring at another with blank eyes before he gives a slow nod. "Yeah, I'm performing." Let it not be mentioned Moses isn't sure of what he's performing. But he's got his sax and violin in his truck if they don't have a piano out on the whatever stage they have. He can wing things, because he's been practicing enough on all those instruments that he had it down to an art, passion and obsession becoming interchangeable during the summer whenever he practiced. (And practiced and practiced and practiced– Like he had a competition coming up worth his life. But he didn't.)

"But probably not yet, so I was going to check around the festival too." He tacks on as an afterthought, continuing to walk with Kevin until they cross the threshold between the inside of the school and the outside where the festival is flourishing. The moment he opens the door, he can't help but frown, eyes squinting underneath his glasses as he waits for them to transition from clear to a more easy to swallow darkness. It doesn't come so fast, but Moses takes comfort in the fact that they will turn into sunglasses as he takes steps outside and into the crowd of people. It's fairly loud, understandably, so full of life that Moses almost forgets that he's still fighting sleep and waiting for the caffeine to kick in.

Almost being the key word, because a yawn still escapes his lips.

"I swear to god." He mutters under his breath as he walks further into the crowd, glancing back once to look at Kevin to see if the other is following before delving in. "I need to find either coffee or Hadley or. Someone. Tell me if you see either Kevin–" He suddenly turns his whole body to Kevin, scruntinizing him before shaking his head and continuing on.

It'd be weird to get a lap pillow from someone he just met.

(The real question is. Does Moses care.)

"The difference between ordinary and extraordinary is practice"
- Vladimir Horowitz

Location: Izzy's car | Scenario: hanging out the passenger side
Mood: Amused | Outfit: Comfy | With: Issiah | Tags: Neri Neri

At the very familiar loud rumbling of a truck, Eyree glanced up from her fruitless mission to find her keys. Adjusting the canvas backpack on her shoulder again, she poked her head around the rear of her car, catching sight of the light dreads she knew so well, his obnoxious truck, and, sure enough, her car keys. “Damn you, Izzy!” She exclaimed, though her tone was light and the lackadaisical tilt to her lips made it clear that she wasn’t too upset over having her keys temporarily absconded. She marched over, snatching for the key ring that he continued to dangle just out of reach, jerking up when she went to jump for them and, try as she might, she was just too short next to his large car to succeed in taking them back.

She huffed a sigh of mild indignation, her crystalline blue eyes alight with humor, placing her fists on her hips. “Alright, Rojas, we seem to be at an impasse. You won't give me my keys, but if you got down out of that big bad truck of yours, I'd have you on the ground in thirteen seconds. So..." she paused, tilting her head in thought. "I guess that means you're giving me a ride today. How thoughtful." Hoisting herself onto the step, she patted his cheek, a teasing gesture, before she hopped off. Eyree polished off the last of her coffee, leaving the empty mug on top of her own car. The dark-haired gymnast skipped to the passenger side, light and quick as a fairy, climbing into the monstrous vehicle and sliding into the passenger seat with ease. "Alright, Jeeves. To school!" She chuckled lightly, placing her bag at her feet and clicking the seat belt into place.

"So, I heard there's supposed to be some sort of festival for the first day of school," she began with ambivalent disinterest. "Though, I heard it's not supposed to be that lame mock-carnival they put on every year. I mean, there are only so many times you can go down an inflatable slide before you want to kill yourself." Here, she rolled down the window so the passing breeze hit her in the face, drying the ends of her still-damp hair. "Maybe it'll be more exciting this year than last."

He had nearly made it to the central building undisturbed when he suddenly heard his name called. Nathan jumped at the sound, freezing in his tracks, glancing in a panic around the courtyard trying to pick out who had addressed him. He was about to grumble in frustration and resume his purposeful marching when he finally spotted the source of the interruption. Or, he thought he had anyways. Looking for a familiar face, he spotted the fair head of Hadley, his next door neighbor and one of his better friends. In the sun, his platinum hair was practically translucent, making him an indistinct smudge of light on the lawn. A single corner of his mouth twitched up into a light hearted gesture and Nathan lifted his hand slowly and began to walk towards him when he noticed who was standing next to him and froze, his hand half-raised. Of course it would be Tatiana, the girl he'd talked to only a few times, observed from afar multiple times, and yet was inexplicably drawn to. She offered up a sunny smile and a wave, snapping Nathan out of his idiotic stupor. The shy smile returned and he waved in response, both to Tatiana and to Hadley's much more subdued greeting. He wasn't brave enough just yet to spend so much time in the presence of the girl he admired, even with Hadley there to temper the interaction.

Resuming his loping pace, Nathan finally made it to the lawn. Groups of students were beginning to cluster together, friends from last year reuniting for perhaps the first time since the last day of school a few months earlier, noisy chatter and screams of excitement filling the courtyard of the school. It was loud and, frankly, obnoxious and Nathan was eager to get inside where (he hoped) it would be much quieter. Reaching the door for the administration wing, he was relieved to be proved partly right. There were plenty of people in line waiting to sign in for the day, enough that it was quickly stretching out the door, but their conversations were much quieter, tones hushes to accommodate for being indoors and for the exasperated looking staff trying to keep the line running smoothly and ensuring everything was ready for the festival they were trying to put on. He quickly scanned the line, searching desperately for a face he recognized. There was something comforting about familiarity that he found himself craving right now.He had just spotted Eden towards the front of the line and was approaching when he heard her unmistakeable squeal of excitement, Sabina rushing over to her side. Nathan blanched and quickly turned away. He couldn't explain it really, but something about Sabina made him nervous. He was sure she was nice enough, but she was still a forceful mountain lion he didn't want to tangle with at just that moment.

Shifting his backpack onto his other shoulder, he shuffled towards the back of the line. As he approached, another distinctive voice reached his ears, the distinctive lilt of Estelle. Ocher eyes lifted from the floor long enough to spot her tumble of blonde hair and with an audible sigh of relief he stuck his hands in his pockets and eagerly made his way towards her. Only as he got closer did he realize she already had a small following around her. Thankfully, it was people he knew and his relief went up several more notches. A small smirk crossed his features. "Typical Estelle," he called, emitting a low chuckle. "Not even eight o'clock and you've got a crowd around you already." Sliding up alongside of the group, he seemed oblivious of the fact that he had actually cut in the line, and was chagrined only a moment later when he heard the under-the-breath muttering of the students behind him; they whispered something about "those Beloveds" and "think they can do whatever they want", but it was enough to make Nathan flush in conscious embarrassment. "Ummm, sorry," he apologized. "I, uh, didn't realize there was a line?" He offered half-heartedly. He hadn't even noticed the growing line, truly, so focused on finally finding someone familiar.

Kaia savored the moment, slipping into Vince's offered hug with relish. She pressed her cheek to his chest, a smile lifting it as she did. He was warm and solid and she always felt so secure when she was around him. It was perhaps why their arrangement worked out so well. They were so comfortable with one another and adding emotionless sex to the mix had just been the natural progression. But it didn't explain why she felt so warm and fuzzy in his embrace. They broke the hug and Kaia took a half step back, eagerly clearing the unwanted and unbidden thoughts from her mind, only to have them muddle again as Vince, ever the gentleman, lifted her hand for a delicate and yet gentlemanly kiss. Kaia could feel a flush of consternation threatening to creep up her neck to her face, a reaction that surprised her. She never got flustered... or, at least, very rarely. So why was she feeling so flustered now? It wasn't as if the greeting was anything outside the norm for Vince. Perhaps she had just been away from him too long...

Just then, Hugo's enthusiastic greeting caused her to jump, a silly, embarrassed little grin spreading across her face at her own reaction. It was the perfect thing to knock her out of her head and it's unusual thoughts, and preventing the telling blush from appearing on her cheeks. A low but friendly chuckle spilled from her lips, coated in maroon lipstick, as she waited for the Guru to finish his excited recap of his summer vacation. She wrapped an arm around their waists, squeezing both men affectionately. "Oh, I definitely missed you both. Summer break is too long and there aren't enough things to do to keep my occupied," she replied, punctuating the statement with a teasing wink at the possible double entendre of her words. She took a moment to preen under Hugo's words, flipping her platinum hair over her shoulder and she smiled a self-satisfied smile. She had tanned rather nicely over the summer, her pale hair and blue eyes standing out in lovely contrast to her now golden skin. Yes, summer had treated her well... at least in that regard. She shrugged dismissively in response. "Other than a weekend trip out to the coast, it was fairly boring. There was a lot of stuff going on at the church this summer and I was required to help out." Here she rolled her eyes. "Otherwise, I read, I partied, and spent some time at the stables. Basically what I do any other day of the year." Turning her head towards Vince, she gave him a skeptical look. "So what was that bit about the pasta, then?"
