while I agree with the conclusion, the math is wrong, you only need three for a curved line, a sthraith line can easily be made with just two

True, but a straight line with two points can still be subject to experimental uncertainty. What is it's just the first two points of a scatterplot? With a third point we can verify on a graph that a true data line exists.
