She nodded tiredly and rest against him, getting cosy under a blanket hearing the kids grumbling a little about always having to do homework first.

he looked up and just stared at her a little freaked out and without enough energy to talk just yet.

Clay chuckled softly at their mumbles before wrapping an arm around Carmen "What you guys want for dinner?"

Max placed James in his carrier while Matthew sat in his chair "Hey baby.." she said softly as she sat on the bed carefully.

He frowned and just gave her hand a squeeze.

‘he won’t be able to talk for probably a day or so. Take it really gentle with him. His doctor will be down as soon as possible to come check on him.’ His nurse told her then left them to it.

“I could go for some sushi.” She mumbled, rubbing at her face tiredly and just feeling worn out.

Max nodded softly and thanked his nurse before turning her attention back to him. She gave a soft smile kissing his hand gently "I love you Jon."

Clay nodded some and turned to thr kids "Sushi sound good you guys?"

She nodded a little when they agreed and just pulled the blanket around herself more, falling asleep against him while the kids finished their movie and got the table sorted, Javi coming back in though. “How much longer does mom have?” He asked him frowning.

he just kept staring at her in confusion. The nurse had explained nothing to him and he just kept trying to talk but his throat was burning too muxh

Max looked over as the doctor finally came in and took a deep breath "Will he be okay?"

Clay frowned when Javi came in as he got Carmen settled to lay across the couch "Javi....your mother is going to be alright....we're just working a day at a time." He explained before giving a heavy sigh. They were still trying to work out how to tell the kids that this time there was no helping her.

He frowned and shrugged. “It’s just that Alana heard you two talking the other night about her making an appointment with a lawyer to finish off her will.” He muttered.

“he should be. Obviously there are a lot of external factors here but the surgeries we were able to do have improved his condition a lot. There’s gonna be a lot of physio before he can even think about going home but this is a good step. I would say he’s stable enough to explain everything to him now.” He told her and left them to privacy again

Clay frowned more and gave a heavy sigh "Go sit down okay? We'll talk about this later okay? I promise." He murmured hugging his son tight

Max gave a small nod and thanked the doctor before looking at Jon. She took a deep breath before she started to slowly explain what happened.

He frowned through most of it until she was picking up their youngest son and bringing him closer, trying to reach for him. He was upset that he’d missed it all but still glad he could be there now.

Carmen ended up sleeping through dinner and got up when clay was nudging her awake, reaching for his help to stand up. “What time is it?” She mumbled, stretching out and rubbing her face, watching him turn lights out before going up to bed with him.

Max lifted James and placed him in Jon's arms smiling softly as Matthew came over asking if he could sit with him "Yes baby you can." She said softly before helping him sit on the bed 'Thats my little brother James daddy! He is still small but mommy said he'll get big soon and we can play more. He likes Peek A Boo though, see watch!' He explained to Jon before he tried to get James attention and started playing peek-a-boo making the baby squeal laughing.

Clay looked over at her and gave a small smile before he helped her up to bed "Almost 9:30, come on lets go to bed." He murmured before helping her to their room "We need to tell the kids babe...Javi asked me tonight how much longer you have. Said he over heard us." He explained quietly

Jon managed a little smile and watched his youngest, cradling him close as he could until he was finally out of energy again and fell asleep still holding him.

She frowned some and just nodded, standing in their room with him, swaying quietly and kissed his nose. “I love you… I know you’ll take good care of the kids.” She mumbled. She was still worried about all of them but Clay being much better had certainly settled her thoughts.

Max smiled softly at Matthew and nodded some "Daddy can't talk at the moment baby but he will soon." She said when she noticed him getting sad that Jon didn't say anything. She took James out of his arms once he fell asleep and sighed softly "You hungry baby?"

Clay gave a small nod and kissed her forrhead gently "I've got them; I promise." He said softly before helping her to bed

She leaned up against him once they weee under covers and just let him out whatever on their tv, playing with his hands. “I’m worried about what will happen with Bea.” She mumbled frowning.

Matthew frowned. “How come daddy can’t talk yet?” He asked her, taking her Hand to go get food.

Clay held her close to him as he played with her fingers giving a small nod "I know....I am too but we'll be okay I promise." He said softly

Max sighed softly as she took his hand "Well baby because he has been asleep for so long its taken a lot of energy. He should be okay soon though."

She smiled tiredly and kissed under his chin. “You wanna take the kids down to the zoo tomorrow?” She asked him quietly. “Alanas been asking all week about it. Bea wants to see some lions…. Take them for lunch then bring them home. Talk then?” She asked him.

“mommy can I sleep in your bed tonight?” He asked her quietly.

Clay gave a nod and sighed softly "Yeah I think that will be good." He murmured kissing the top of her head repeatedly not noticing that a few tears had fallen down his face.

Max smiled at Matthew and gave a small nod "Well I don't see why not." She said sweetly

He nodded happily and held her hand while they headed to the cafeteria, just happy that his dad was awake again. “I wanna show daddy my hot wheels.” He told her excitedly.

carmen eventually dozed off for the third time that day. She just had no energy left most of the time and when she did it was quickly used up from being in pain but she was trying to hang on for the kids and for Clay and also to be able to give Tomas all the closure that he needed.
