Falco and Kassandra had gone blow for blow in all the time it took for the fight to properly start up on the ground. Truly Kassandra was more powerful in sheer energy readings, however the metal sound which had weakened her resolve meant that she was looking just as worse for ware as Falco was. Considering Falco had been involved in a whole proceeding fight minutes before, he wasn't faring as good as he could have at full strength. Because of this, when he noticed Jackie changing targets out of the corner of his eye from down below, he grinned a mischievous smile of his own. Just as Kassandra seemed to be charging up her own attack, Falco dissipated one of his. This caught the ghost type leader off guard as the winged man grabbed her by the shirt. Just as he jerked her around to the side, she saw too late what his game was. A jagged metal sword found a spot in her side, and protruded all the way out the other half of her body just above her hip. She then sailed, carried by it's momentum and her lack of weight due to levitation, to slam directly into the metal wall. She then dropped to the catwalk below.

"Thankyou for that, warrior- OH!" Said the seasoned veteran as he narrowly avoided the Mirror Shot by diving backwards. The beam continued and engulfed the Ghost Type Elite Four member, her scream of pain ringing throughout the room. He was not so lucky to avoid the suckerpunch, however, feeling it smack his cheek. His first instinct was to retaliate as Jackie hung in the air after the impact, but receded from doing so and instead spoke solemnly. "I forgot to mention, I'm on your side," Said the Flying Type Master, rubbing his jaw. He then turned his head from side to side, a few pops coming out of his neck. "Look alive, now, after that last shot I don't have much in me. You'll have to keep the Witch busy, I'll be playing the back line," Before Jackie could respond, a soft cackle began to rise up below them. Kassandra slowly stood up on the catwalk, as her maniacal laughter grew louder and louder. Blood dripped from the sword which had impaled her, like a tap in an old maple. She pointed her index fingers outward, and out from it a shadowy purple aura grew a long claw. She swiped it over the metal, and each half protruding from her torso clattered to the ground.

"You fools are truly more stupid than I initially thought, if you think I'M GOING TO SIMPLY LET YOU OVERPOWER ME THREE TO ONE!" Said the Ghost Type beginning in a speaking voice and ending in a shriek. She materialized a Pokeball in her hand seemingly out of nowhere, and clicked the button. On the floor in front of her landed a rock about the size of a basketball. The engraved lines on it began to glow pink and green, before the energy exploded out of it. A threatening smile materialized across the amorphous body of the Spiritomb, and it's eyes fell upon Wormadom. "Spiritomb, kill Falco, I want the Dark Type to myself," The Forbidden Pokemon seemed slightly disappointed it couldn't devour the Bug Type on the ground below it. Then, it disappeared into it's own shadow as it's own body were made of nothingness. Where it went was anyone's guess, until it protruded from a dark spot in the ceiling and dropped towards Falco's head.

Falco was not quick enough as the Spiritomb's Shadow Sneak had it chomping onto his wing which, despite it's shifting appearance, felt quite solid. It pulled him out of the air and had him crashing to the metal floor below. Judging by his cry of pain, he was indeed on his last legs. Apparently Kassandra had the same ability in her arsenal, as she was also gone from the spot she had previously occupied. Her voice whispered in Jackie's ear, as she swiped a Shadow Claw towards his back aiming to rip it open. She had emerged from Jackie's own shadow after he landed on the ground.

"Thankyou for weakening that proud crow for my Spiritomb," she cooed.

Meteor Smash clashed with Mach Punch fist to fist as the two high level battlers Sergio and Bunker let their sheer firepower be known. The resulting shock wave from the amount of built up power colliding would travel through the room hitting everyone in the chest like the bass from a very large speaker. Sergio was unable to stop his momentum after being robbed by Chance, and thus hung in the air after colliding with Bunker's attack. If he weren't outnumbered perhaps he would have had time for a followup, however a beam of Fairy Type energy pushed him back into the pit from the catwalk. Due to the inneffective nature of the type matchups, Sergio landed with sure footing this time as the wave of Fairy energy swept over him and dissipated. Despite not having his thick armor any longer, he seemed quite toughened nonetheless.

After that move, a large fist of some sort projected by the spell caster Andy aimed to crush him. Sergio smiled wildly at it's descent. He raised one fist into the air, which jabbed at the Fairy Type attack four times with the speed of a Bullet. The attack shattered and Sergio seemed impatient to reengage. In his Gear Shifted state he attempted to close the distance once more, however rather than simply jump towards Bunker again he summoned several plates of metal from the floor to his front and center. He positioned them floating in front of him like a staircase, and scaled them while activating two moves. King's Shield brought fourth some of the metal to his right hand, which formed a rough tower shield which covered all but his feet and head from the eyes up. In his left hand, he pulled several large scraps of metal to him. The weapon which formed was much larger than the sword he had made from railing before. A true Behemoth of a Blade.

Both items glowed with a white gleam washing over them. With quickness aided by his Gear Shift, he stepped onto the catwalk and threw his whole body weight forward into Bunker to bash him with his shield. Whether or not this attempt hit solid, he would follow it up with a sweeping slash from the huge sword. It covered nearly six feet in front of him, and it's thickness was nearly half that of the catwalk itself. This made escaping it's area quite a feat.

Beneath Ryuko's feet, she could feel the ground move once more as loose stones were jarred from the mountain before her by the almost tectonic shift below as another area seem to open up. But with an opening or passage nowhere in sight from her current level, all that was left now was the for doting Dragon Type to scale the perilous peak once more.
Ryuko picked up Cubone as Duskull returned with a feather in hand. It bounced as it floated to her as it was happy to have beaten such a interesting foe.
"Is this for me?"
Duskull nodded and gave Ryuko the feather before it landed behind her head and held on tight, smiling with closed eyes.
Ryuko put the feather away before looking to the new area.
"This way next.... to be honest, I feel a little scared."

Any fear she felt vanished as a familiar roar let her know of a familiar friend approaching. Ryuko turned to see Charizard, flying to the rescue out of concern for his trainer, and the fact she was gone for so long.
After landing, Ryuko told her longtime partner about what happened, and introduced him to Duskull. Charizard himself, via body language was able to tell Ryuko that Tyranitar and Bertie were watching over the Lickitung brothers, with little trouble getting them to behave.

"You think you can help us out?"
Charizard nodded and led the way, cracking his knuckles and ready to take on whatever comes his way.

With Charizard here, the mountain would be no problem now. Hopping on the flying Fire Type's back, Ryuko and the rest of her Pokémon took to the air and soared at great speed to the peak. The mountain groaned as if in quiet complaint to Charizard's actions, it's granite gauntlet left untouched and unchallenged as they covered metre after metre of the sizable summit in quick succession.

However there was something ominous about the low moaning from the stone and rock, as if something sinister was starting to root deep within it's bowels but there was little time to muse about the sounds within the stone as Ryuko and her Pokémon found themselves under attack as they reached the top of the mountain.

Green fibrous thorns came hurtling towards the group like Missiles, with salvo after salvo being shot with Pin point accuracy as the penetrating yellow eyes of Ferroseed glared at them from within the rock, the Thorn Seed Pokémon buried in the ground like a living land mine.

For Ranseian folks, Cianwood Gym's vibe clearly mirrors that of Pugilis' battle arena. Its open roof had been a perfect advantage for Henry during Cherry's gym battle, when he was a Drifloon on the verge of evolution. Before Cherry could say anything about the gym though, Nanami had gone ahead and had her Gliscor to scout ahead. That Gliscor... Kaede first met them as a Gligar, still staying by Nanami's side after all this time. Quite a loyal one, yeah...

But there was no time for nostalgia. By the time the Gliscor came back, Sherry had already got both her icy spear and Henry ready. She and Nanami both rode on the Gliscor, leaving Henry to fly ahead and vanish like any other ghosts would. They soon found out whatever causing the ruckus at the main door. And it only means one thing: Garret was in danger!

Having had enough, the ladies descended from the sky with Nanami practically announcing their presence. It gave the invisible Henry a perfect chance to launch his Psychic power at the gym leader, hoping to (at least) mess with his psyche. And as for Sherry, she quietly crept to the side where neither Nanami nor Henry had covered, then swung her spear to form a Sonic Boom directed at the spectators. The ice-type clearly was not in the mood to even talk.

BUNKER BAILE
The smirk Bunker wore so proudly seconds before quickly evaporated. Despite his attack hitting home, it was not as effective as he had hoped. His Mach Punch merely dissipated his foes Meteor Smash rather than powering through as he expected too. Bunker assumed that without his Metal Coat, Sergio would be easy pickings but it appeared he couldn't of been further from the truth. It would seem that despite his previous criticism of his adversary, even if he still was the same bully he had met years ago, Sergio had in fact grown only more powerful as a Trainer.

As his foe hung in the air, Bunker prepared to follow up his attack when his adversary was suddenly hit by a beam of Fairy Type energy. The attack managed to push Sergio back into the pit but appeared to do little else as the Steel Type landed skilfully on his feet. Bunker glanced in the direction of the beam's origin and could see a mysterious figure ( mdebourg mdebourg ) standing at the end of the catwalk, just outside the room. The individual gestured towards Sergio and the Fighting Type trainer saw a large ethereal fist appear above their seemingly mutual opponent. The Elite Four member, however, met the disembodied extremity with his own and, with a flurry of punches, shattered the attack into nothing.

Yet, Sergio was far from done. He summoned several metal panels from around the room and began assembling a staircase that led from the pit back up towards the catwalk. Bunker got into a fighting stance once more as he readied himself for his foe's inevitable arrival. He cracked his neck to one side and then the other {Bulk Up} in preparation and his body increased in size slightly as his muscles expanded, becoming surrounded by a faint magenta aura. With the staircase complete, Sergio began his ascent, forming a King's Shield in his right hand and a Behemoth Blade in his left as he climbed up towards the catwalk, both weapons emitting a white glow.

With the steel samurai now safely hidden behind his shield, Bunker knew a head on attack would be foolhardy. The beefed up brawler was fairly sure he could break through it but if he attacked the shield, he would then leave himself open to a counterattack from his foe's blade. He would have to get rid of the sword first and only then could he concentrate on the shield. Bunker already had a plan in mind but in order to make it work he would have to go on the defensive for now.

As the Gear Shifted Sergio swiftly stepped on to the catwalk, the prepared pugilist pressed his arms in front of him to guard himself as his foe slammed into him with his shield. The force of attack sent Bunker sliding backwards, but did little more then leave a bruise. He took a deep breath in through his nose and, as he prepared to follow up with a sweep of his blade, his Elite enemy would notice wisps of smoke escape Bunker's nostrils before he released a thick cloud of smoke from his mouth {Smokescreen} towards him, obscuring his vision and causing the smoke spewing scrapper to disappear from view.

The ice-type clearly was not in the mood to even talk.

The gym leader looked up, as someone called him out though he was surprised to see it was just some girl however the earthen Blade she now carried put on the Precipice of intimidating. The loss of focus from the Burly Badge giver however seemed to cost him as he was pushed back, allowing his opponent to gain ground in their shoving match. At first he thought it was Garret overpowering him, a notion that certainly knocked the Gym Leader's ego but with the Sonic Boom blasting back his entourage, the Football playing Fighting Type came to the realisation they had company. With a decisive Hammer Arm to Garret's back, their little game was over, the raven haired man floored in one shot as the large linebacker looked around at the newcomers.

"Sorry ladies, Garret here was just getting punished for his first violation. Fans or challengers?" the Gym Leader asked as he removed his helmet, giving the girls a warm smile. His short blonde hair and calm green eyes only enhanced his friendly demeanour, the man seemingly brushing off the girls aggressive act.

"Hey Dutch, that's the girl we told you about." cried out the Backer, pointing at Sherry as he lent up off the ground.

The black belt Sherry fought eyed her incredulously, the grudge holding Gi wearer not expecting to see her again after their fight as he helped his friend up. "Really?!" Dutch looked at his fallen friend and then back to Sherry, who just stared at him, her gaze as icy as her weapon.

In the heat of the moment, Sherry may not have realised but with events cooling off, the man before him may have looked familiar if not from his celebrity status or professional sports career but from the souvenir stand she had crashed into earlier. The green and white uniform and the cute yet aggressive Chesnaught design of the Castellia City Chesnaught's on the mans broad chest was one of the many things replicated on the gifts and knick knacks of the seaside stand. "So you're one of Chance's teammates? Me and my friends here were told to keep an eye out for you while we minded the Safari Zone. Can't say I know why but I ain't gonna argue with my biggest sponsor."

"Too bad, Garret starting asking questions about it when those Pokémon came stomping through town or he wouldn't be cut from the team right now. Me, I don't got beef with nobody I'm just here to get back into the pro leagues and you may be my ticket back, I can see the headlines now... Dutch Downs Known Terrorist." Downs' spread his hands out in front of him, accentuating every word although the double meaning was lost to the man himself as he continued on.

"Still... I don't feel like crushing a little girl... No offense... And besides I get more fans than challengers in this backwater burg so how about we make this Interesting? We settle this with a Pokémon battle. I got a pretty good team going and thanks to that guy, Reigns, from the Elite Four, a pretty sick new star Pokémon to back em up." he advocated, putting his helmet back on. "Hey, I'll even sweeten the deal. You beat me, I'll give you anything you want." Stepping over Garret's body, a sinister smile slithered across Dutch's face as he approached Sherry. "If you lose though, I'm handing you and all your friends off to Kabu Corp. So how about it? We have a deal?"

Andy would watch as his fairy energy didn't do much if anything at all "Well back to the defense for me" he nods seeing the ineffectiveness of his attacks. On that note is when he would see a blade that could rival a certain orange spiky-haired soldier's buster sword, it....was....HUGE, huge enough that one swipe would possibly cleave through everyone near the room in one swipe human or pokemon. "At least we aren't the main targets, but he is going to need some help" Andy nods mentally. There was the question of how though as the fighter launched into a mach punch only to be met by Sergio's King Sheild.

For the moment there wasn't too much Andy could do, while infuriating, getting near that blade with no semblance of cover would just result in him being cut to ribbons or worse. As the fight between fist and steel continues, the area around them would suddenly get harder to see thanks to a smokescreen, while he could use time to provide another shield for the fighter, the green glow would easily give him away rendering the smokescreen kinda pointless. For now both trainer and pokemon let the fight continue on for the moment.

Falco on his side? Jackie didn't believe him for a second. After all where was Cinder? There was Hyde (heh) nor hair of the blazing battler, with the dishonest Dual Type arriving with some mystery man instead. A stranger that had history with Sergio from what Jackie could overhear. No, this was merely a coup, an act of betrayal by the feathered fabulist after defeating, or quite possibly killing, his combustive comrade. His former friend Kassandra had even called him out on it, for Arceus's sake.

So let them kill each other thought the hardened Hyde as he heard Falco scream, the Forbidden Pokémon attempting to devour his wing, and I'll just mop up the rest. After all the down and out Dark Type was used to picking up the scraps.

Still, the way the Spiritomb had looked at his Wormadam earlier and how it was now so cravingly chomping away at Grayson did give Jackie pause. He was done being prey for others and so was his Pokémon. With a subtle nod of his head, he sent his beloved Bagworm Pokémon to deal with the haunting horror. Count yourself lucky Grayson he sneered.

Wormadam did as she was asked, bouncing across the catwalk for a beat before hopping over the railing with her ribbon like arms like a certain fast fare dodger. Almost taking a page out of Falco's book as well, the bounding Bug Type used Metal Sound on the Spiritomb, her cloak scratching together like a deafening drill as she fell to the earth below.

The soft cooing of Kassandra was like a feather to the snuck upon sprinter, her words tamely floating into his ear as she spoke. Too bad Jackie was as fast as the wind and smart enough to not fall for the same trick twice. With a quick spinning motion that followed his opponents spectral swipe, Jackie simultaneously went to dodge the move as well as deliver a powerful elbow to the gouged Ghost Types midriff aiming to exacerbate her injury. With his side having far less area to hit than his back and his Sucker Punch coming from the opposite direction of the Shadow Claw, the twisting track star aimed to knock her off target, if not stop her outright.

However he wasn't done with the wily witch, having enough of her tricks. Completing his rotation, the harassed Hyde positioned himself to grab Kassandra in a punishing bear hug, seizing her by the waist and wringing her wounds, the smoky darkness of his act of Assurance only complementing the driven Dark Type's attempt to choke the life from her.

"HIDING WON'T HELP YOU BUNKER!" Yelled Sergio maintaining an aggressive pursuit. He engaged with the smokescreen which quickly enveloped him, and slashes wildly from side to side with his gigantic blade. The sword dissipated the cloud somewhat right before his eyes, but whether he was about to hit Bunker with the approach remained to be seen. Still, he was weighing his options. Hang back and wait to be ambushed, or continue pressing forward to keep Bunker on his heels. Wielding a weapon as giant as his scrapped together sword made it an obvious choice in the Steel Type Warrior's eyes. One thing had dawned on him however, there had been no follow up attack from that Electric-Type nuisance Chance. He had expected a jab in the back, a pincer of some sort, however no such event took place. This did give Sergio pause, but did nothing to stop his resolve.

He would make Bunker pay for daring to show his face in contrast to the Elite Four's goals. Thinking the puny Fairy Type in the hallway just outside the room was of no consequence, he pressed on repeatedly smashing his sword into the wall of the chamber in an attempt to sever Bunker in half wherever he lingered in the dark inky cloud he had formed. Sergio would swing his sword until his arms fell off, until his blood was completely emptied from his body, or until his legs gave out from exhaustion. This is the way of battle he had always known.

Chance Bridgerton

Chance, after snatching Sergio's item in his best impression of a Dark Type, had quickly spun on his heal and made for the other end of the Basketball Court Sized chamber. By the time he had reached the other half, Kassandra was in close combat with Jackie and Falco seemed nearly down for the count. Good luck getting the better of Jackie up close, Kassandra, thought Chance with a grin. With another quick step he positioned himself opposite of Wormadom on the ground. Being so close right next to Falco's now prone body, the Spiritomb was forced to take notice of the new battler in his midst. He released Falco's now bloody wing from his maw, at which the Flying Type gasped and curled it into himself. The Flying Type Veteran stood up shakily and disengaged from the ghostly predator. The shifting form of the ancient collection of souls grew and looked down upon Chance, who was still gripping his new metal coat lazily as if it were a cloth hanging from his grip.

The thing's eyes began to glow purple as Falco recoiled to a position beside Chance. Chance looked at it's visage unflinchingly, arcs of electricity dancing over his skin between the cut which were now filled with flecks of metal. A blast of Ghostly energy escaped the many souls collected in the Spiritomb's glare, which threatened to Hex both Falco and Chance. Chance swept his hand upward simply, and the metal coat spun and extended itself to cover the battlers' forms obscuring them from site. The Hex met it's shimmering surface and the wind-like magical blast curled around them like water, leaving them unharmed.

"Chance, thank Arceus, I thought you were dead,"

"That's alright, so did I. What gives, I didn't think you'd be this worse for ware this quickly?"

"One of these kids you brought into the plan gave me a thrashing because I wouldn't let him past, it's my own fault. I can still fight, though, don't worry,"

"No, hang back. You've already got your latent type, no miraculous revivals are gonna happen for you today and we need you alive. There's a war coming,"

"You don't really mean that?" replied Falco in surprise.

"I do," with those simple words Chance thrust out his hand, and the Metal Coat obeyed as if it were an extension of himself. It formed a long spike out of the metal which behaved like a liquid in it's fluidity. Being in such close proximity, the large Ghost Type had no time to react as his non-corporeal body was skewered. Then, Wormadom's metal sound rang out from behind him, and reverberated in tandem with the Metal Coat within him it seemed to have an extra kick compared to before. Chance retracted his new item after the fact and nodded at Wormadom through the hole in the Ghost type before it closed up.

Ryuko drew a sword as Duskull flew off from her head towatds the Pin Missiles. It's eyes flashed red before dissappearing and appearing in front of the Ferrosseed, smacking the steel grass type in the face as it's Pin Missile move was now disabled.

That did not mean the shots already fired would disperse though. Cubone threw his club at the pin missiles, knocking several out of the air before catching his club. Charizard spat a flame into his right fist, the fist catching fire before punching throu another missile, as Ryuko infused her blade with dragon energy, and stood up, before thrusting the blade and shooting out a twister at the rest of the pin missiles. Duskull flew off towards the right as the twister headed towards Ferrosseed, who now due to ingrain, cant dodge the impact.

As Duskull appeared before Ferroseed and Disabled his Pin Missile, he thrust his Iron Head towards him intending to smash him though his attempt was lost as he was swallowed by Ryuko's Twister which tore at his body and pulled at his thorns. Many nicks and scratches lined his steel body with the durable durian receiving a rather impressive scar over his right eye, the piece of rock still embedded above his brow. However with his roots still firmly Ingrained within the stone, his host of injuries began to heal, resealing and buffing out much like an automobile being worked on by a master mechanic. Still with his only ranged move disabled, and his foes knowing better than to approach the Grass Type grenade, there was only one option for the loyal Thorn Seed Pokemon.

With his roots deep enough with the mountain, he followed his trainers plan, all his attacks merely a delaying tactic for his true purpose. Pulling his thorns inside himself, the malevolent mine began to glow white, the light pulsating, growing brighter and brighter with every pulse as if count downing to some horrible event. A horrifying revelation quickly dawned on everyone, Ferroseed was going to Self- Destruct!

With his roots embedded extensively within the mountain, the moment he went off he would bring the whole thing down, the drawing of energy to himself weakening the rock as he only increased in power. There was no way to stop him now, any attempt likely certain death if not from the explosion than the total collapse of the mountain, so all Ryuko could do was run. Missed in the heat of battle, beyond the group lay the passageway to the next zone but could they make it time?

Duskull flew and hung onto Ryuko's head as Charizard took towards the escape route. With Ferrosseed starting to pull in particles around its body, Ryuko turned towards the armored pokemon and yelled to her partner.

"Faster Char! Faster!"
His wings flapped furiously as the opposing pokemon glowed and the energy expanded. As the explosion shook the area, Charizard was near the end, but the dust and rubble being kicked up was catching up. Ryuko held Cubone close and had him under her as the explosion soon swallowed the group. It seemed like the group didn't make it, but Charizard flew out of the smoke, as Ryuko breathed a sigh of relief.
"We made it in time.... but that Ferrosseed...."

Spiritomb roared in response to being stabbed and assaulted with a Metallic Ring which he could feel sapping his overall attack power. He looked at his Mistress, and saw that she was being similarly struck down by a Dark Type brawler. This enraged him even more than being hurt, and thus he lunged at his foremost attacker with a vengeance. Once again he activated Hex, which caused a purple aura to gather in his eyes. Out from his whole misty body then shot the wave of damaging magic-like energy. Instead of being forced towards Chance, however, it flew backwards at Wormadom. The Spiritomb was hoping his charge at the trainers would cause the Wormadom to lower it's guard and be caught in his ruse. This put him in harms way, however he was never worried about the outcome of himself, only the praise of Kassandra was his concern.

Kassandra herself had been able to barely block Hyde's well placed elbow by catching it on her own Shadow Claw. Though she would have preferred to use it to rip his throat out, she didn't have the time. He had definitely undergone some sort of change since the last time she saw him in the cave, but that newly discovered information did nothing to help her now. She was too slow to block his bear hug, which had her shrieking once again as blood poured from her sides. Her face was angry, wrathful even, however the end of her banshee-like scream turned into another evil cackle. True, Jackie's grapple had caused her much pain, but he was now far too close to dodge anything she threw at him. She loved that feeling.

Kassandra's eyes began to drip with an inky black aura as if she were crying, and she hugged Jackie back tightly. Her wild smile grew somehow larger as both her and Jackie's very shadows began to bubble as if they were boiling water. Then rapidly each bubble of energy morphed into a large spike, which extended upwards stabbing into both of them indiscriminately. The spikes which impaled Kassandra continued directly through her so that they stabbed into Jackie from every angle, and vise versa. A truly evil Shadow Force ensuring that they were both damaged severely.

Despite the Steel Type's best efforts, Bunker had managed to evade being completely severed in half by his foe's weapon. The sword was so large that avoiding it completely was almost an impossibility on the narrow catwalk but thanks to strategic scrapper's smoky stratagem he had managed to avoid serious injury, albeit just barely. The stirrings of his smoky sanctuary alerted him to the presence of his foe's Behemoth Blade a fraction of a second ahead of time, but he still wore numerous cuts and gashes all over his body from its wild swings. The bloody wounds the weapon had left behind stung like an enraged Beedrill but Bunker was just grateful to Arceus that he was still in one piece at this point.

The Fighting Type's strategy relied on figuring out the speed of his foe's attack so he watched for his sword attentively through the inky smoke. Every swipe of Sergio's Behemoth Blade allowed him to build up a clearer picture but unfortunately, by the same token, every swipe dissipated Bunker's hazy haven slightly. As the Steel Type continued his aggressive pursuit, the thick cloud that enveloped both combatants became thinner and thinner until it was nothing but a shell of its former self.

With the smoke clearing and the wind starting to drop around him {Tailwind}, Bunker knew he if wanted to stand any chance of closing the gap between them {Close Combat} and getting underneath the Gear Shifted Sergio's sword he would have to do it now. As his refuge gave one final gasp of life before dissipating entirely, Bunker, with calculated precision, slipped underneath the blade and, with his opponent momentarily exposed from his attack, reappeared at the Steel Type's left, grabbing the sword's handle with both hands. Bunker's grip was vice-like and unrelenting, leaving Sergio with two options; relinquish the blade to his Fighting Type foe or drop his Shield to tussle for the sword.

Ferroseed's fate would remain lost in the collapse of the mountain, but down below the plummeting peak was Toucannon and his trainer. Gently tapping the Operatives head with his beak to wake her, the now black and blue Pokémon, his white feathers blemished with dirt and broken capillaries, had remained by her side, the muscular maiden stirring every now and then in her stupor, the parachute she wore now more like a blanket as she tossed and turned in her sleep. With a tremendous roar from above, Toucannon looked up from his trainer to see the mountain crashing down towards them. With his trainer unconscious and the brave bird unwilling to leave her, his species well known for its love for one another, he took to the air on broken wings and with a mighty cry activated Rock Smash.

"Tooouuu!!!!"

Elsewhere in the Safari Zone, away from the family of fighters, a silent salute was held, the sound of the explosion ringing out far and wide. But this was not for fallen comrades but for the doing of one's duty. With a sharp movement, the Sergeant placed his hand back to his side as he enacted the rest of his plan, turning to his accomplice and beckoning for them to follow before they disappeared into the forest.

Meanwhile Ryuko and her Pokémon had entered the next area, and thanks to Charizard, the group was not waist deep in it's watery ward. Beyond them lay a small island, it's smooth sands giving way to picturesque pebbles which composed most of the little landmass, the odd palm tree taking root within it's sandy borders. The island however was merely the cherry on top as serene seas and calming waves were the true centrepiece of the Rocky Beach Area which the group had entered. Though the waters were not as serene as first thought as in the distance, almost on the horizon, there were sounds of battle. A distant figure seemed to be under attack, plumes of water erupting around it with the sounds of cannon fire echoing with every eruption. Still, a similar problem began to unfold before them, much closer and just as serious.

Nearby on a rocky outcropping was a Slowpoke fishing, his tail dipped into the sea like a fisherman's lure. Oblivious by nature, he was taken unaware when a strange figure appeared from the deep. Almost alien in appearance, the man-shaped thing seemed to be surrounded by bubbles, each of limbs encompassed in a liquid sphere only ending at each of his joints. The only thing that revealed him as a person was when the light caught his body at the right angle, revealing the pinstripe colours of his uniform. Grabbing the dopey Pokémon by the tail in his foamy fingers, he lifted him into the air and, with a pop, the poor Pokémon was enveloped in a bubble. With Slowpoke floating gently in the air, the man shaped mariner pulled from the depths and an even bigger bubble. This sea born sphere was five times bigger than the forgetful fishers and full of others of his kind. With a prod by the Operative, Slowpoke joined the rest of his brothers and sisters, his bubble merging with theirs.

As if on cue, out of the nearby palm trees came Private, the Seedot second. Stepping to the water's edge, the poppable poacher attached the bubble to the tip of Privates helmet, the bubble bobbing up and down next to him. It would be comical if it wasn't so tragic, as only now did the first Slowpoke understand what was going on, its blank expression turning to fear within its pristine prison. With that Private turned to leave, dragging the bulky bubble behind him.

Jackie had been playing this whole encounter with the Elite Four fast and hard. He had to, with the catwalk not giving much room for hit and run, all he could really do was a blitzkrieg. But for the most part it was working, why else would his ethereal enemy risk ending her un-life with her Shadow Force. It was far more effective on her than him but with all his cuts and bruises he was teetering off yellow. Still where as defence would have been better for Jackie to endure the attack, the sharp shadowy spikes piercing at him from every angle and almost in slow motion, his speed would allow him to deal even greater damage.

Unrelenting in his hold, the determined Dark type continued with his Assurance, squeezing the piercing poltergeist every time he saw a shadowy spike erupt from her to only increase her torment. By the time he was done with her, she would be a Stygian spate, soaked in her own blackened tears.

Wormadam meanwhile had fallen for the Forbidden Pokémon's façade, taking the Hex full on, the Ghost Type energy relentlessly pounding away at her and forcing her backwards. However the Bagworm Pokémon had been through worse in her, and her trainer's, youth and being a Bug Type had it's advantages, making her more resistant to Spiritombs amorphous attack.

Eager to press on with her advantage, Wormadam rushed at the stone based spectre, using her ribbon like arms to push herself higher and higher as she bounced along the ground. Leaping at Spiritomb, the cloaked combatant used Bug Bite, opening her mouth wide to engulf the smoky spirit that was the real Spiritomb. However her actual goal was to get deep into the stone that that Forbidden Pokémon had so negligently nestled into, her Bug Type move able to consume even the toughest Berry, stone and all, with the old rock surely following suite...

Sergio was starting to have very violent flashbacks to a few years prior. A younger Bunker at the height of his abilities, taking on Sergio at his own full strength. That battle that raged then, like the very inferno which melted all of Sergio’s steel away, had given him the same haunting feeling he was getting now. The feeling of going from predator to prey. A pinnacle of man, an Elite Four General, the Steel Type master of battle. And then came along the very fire that forges the steel, to bowl right over him as if he were nothing more than a stepping stone to a greater path. The only thing he had taken solace in that day, after his defeat at the hands of Bunker, was watching Bunker himself being defeated right after by Mr Takemora’s Son, the Champion. Even though Bunker lost his flames that day, even now the same warrior faced him. With the same intensity of the eternal flame in every punch.

Sergio reluctantly relinquished his blade, releasing his grasp but not for lack of an option in exchange. As he released his massive, heavy hunk of steel he turned his whole body into the rounded front of his King’s Shield. He would bash at bunker with his whole shoulder, and at the same time he activated Bullet Punch. Similarly to the way he had before on Jackie, a half dozen giant metal fists protruded from it’s front and shot out at blinding speeds at Bunker, just as fast as any modern projectile might.

As soon as Sergio had been robbed a second time of his possessions, a hole opened up in the ceiling above them. A low rumbling engulfed the whole chamber, so much so that if it hadn’t been plated with metal there would surely be rocks falling on all their heads. The steel folded back like ripped paper at the behest of an Excadrill, whom emerged from the skylight he had now created. He then dug his claws into the metal, and hung down to give way to a rope and the light from the sun. A man hung off that rope, with white hair and a lab coat. He kept one hand on his lifeline, and the other went to the side of his mouth in a poor imitation of a megaphone.

“Oh Sergio! Kassandra! It’s time to retreat now Darlings,” he spoke with a very proper sounding Galarian accent.

Kassandra was, as always, screaming. Jackie’s Assurance that she would die was steadfast, and she respected him for that. Even so, the look in her eyes was mad. She reared back her head, and even through her whaling cries she had the faintest satisfied grin. The Shadow Force retracted, and let her body go limp against Jackie’s deadly embrace. At the same time, a misty neon purple aura rose up from her skin. Slowly it enveloped Jackie Hyde as well, and then it seeped into his every pore.

On the other side of this end of the room, Spiritomb seemed to jolt and scream in harmony with his mistress. Wormadom had chomped a chunk out of his rocky body, and this sent a spike of pain through his whole form. He then whipped his head around to see where Kassandra was. Upon viewing her lifeless form, he rushed to her side, whipping his enchanted stone from side to side to shake Wormadom free. She went sailing towards Chance, who caught her mid flight against his chest. Spiritomb moved his amorphous body in between Jackie and Kassandra into what little space there was. It wouldn’t be hard to pry them apart though, as Jackie would feel the last of his strength leaving him as well. His and Kassandra’s fates being sealed together by her final move.

Spiritomb enveloped his Mistress and grappled into the rope, climbing it like some sort of ghostly slug with Kassandra in tow. Sergio did not take his eyes off his opponent.

“Sergio, now my sweet! The police are on their way! We don’t want to make more trouble for Tekemora to have to cover up later!” Cried out Moriarty.

“LEAVE ME BE, MORIARTY! I’M STAYING HERE, AND I’M KILLING THESE WORMS!” Sergio’s voice was steadfast and without a second thought. Moriarty seemed to know there was no use in arguing, as he whistled and the Escape Rope pulled him back up the opening. Falco began to attempt to fly after them, forgetting his wing was severely damaged, so he simply winced and stayed put.

BUNKER BAILE
Bunker stepped back as Sergio released his blade. He was surprised that the Steel Type let him have his Behemoth Blade so readily, the bloodied brawler thought for sure he would want to keep it at all costs but no, Sergio chose his King's Shield instead. The Steel Type was prioritising defence over offence so that meant only one thing to the postulating pugilist; Sergio had to be on his last legs. If Bunker could just get past his shield, he would have him, he was sure of it.

The Fighting Type's musing were interrupted as a low rumble engulfed the chamber. Bunker looked up towards the noise to see a white haired man in a lab coat descend from an Escape Rope. The mysterious new arrival shouted for Kassandra and Sergio to withdraw but the Steel Type would have none of it and drove his shield into the distracted Bunker's chest with his shoulder. The Fighting Type grunted in pain as he stumbled backwards but maintained his grip on the sword. Sergio bellowed at his accomplice to leave him be as Bunker attempted to heave the stolen sword into the air and use it {Copycat}, only to be met with with a barrage of blows from his frenzied foe as fists erupted from the front of his shield {Bullet Punch}.

With the wind gone {Tailwind}, Bunker lagged behind his Gear Shifted opponent and his superior speed, scarcely having time to manoeuvre the Behemoth Blade in front of him in his hasty attempt to block the Steel Type's attack with the weapon. The powerful punches clashed relentlessly against the sword, driving the Fighting Type back as Sergio maintained his merciless march towards him, but he held strong. Losing ground at a rapid pace and completely overwhelmed by his opponent, victory seemed almost impossible for the bearded battler but Bunker knew this wasn't a contest of strength, but a battle of wills. A battle he could not... No! Would. Not. Lose!

From behind the Behemoth Blade, Bunker's eyes began to glow light blue {Detect}, as mind and body became one, and he withdrew the sword from its position in front of him. Sergio's Bullet Punches came thick and fast, almost impossible for the eye to see, but the Fighting Type effortlessly dodged each strike as he raised his sword into the air and, with all the power he could muster, swung it like a baseball bat {Hammer Blow} towards the Steel Type's shield.

"Char, do you think we should take a look at the battle out there?"
Her large friend growled. Whatever was out in the distance seemed important, but before they could go investigate, the Slowpoke incident happened. Seeing the dopey pokemon get snatched in front of her own eyes, it brought up a serious decision.

To go save Slowpoke or go investigate the battle? She decided that she would have to do the reckless decision of splitting up.
"Char, take Cubone and see if you cant find out what that battle is in the distance. I'll bring Duskull with me to save the Slowpoke!"

With the plan in motion, Ryuko leaped off of her large pokemon and flew after the Poachers, with Duskull hanging on her head with a happy expression. Charizard, with the baby pokemon on his back, flew off towards the battle in the distance.

With a final squeeze, Kassandra's screaming stop and she went limp in Jackie's arms. Knowing he had won, he relaxed his grip as the last spike pulled back from his inner thigh and retreated into the ground. However the dominating Dark Type was taken aback, as Kassandra's seem to still be alive, a fine mist exuding from her mouth as if she was still drawing breath. It was too late when Jackie realised her whole body was exuding the neon purple mist. The hesitating Hyde could feel something dark enter his body, though this was not the reassuring blanket of night or his own smoky black power. No, this darkness was unnatural and cold. So very cold.

A shiver ran up Jackie's spine before it overcame his entire body, turning his sweat cold and his skin deathly pale. The freezing foot runner hadn't been this cold since his first days on the street, when he had vowed to never feel this way again. And he never had since, once he obtained his Fur Coat, his most beloved belonging and the true mark of his escape from his tortured early life. Jackie would always remember the day he saw that grand garment in the window of the Boutique, the one of a kind item calling to him behind the glass, knowing they were made for each other. So who he was he to resist it's siren song, the thin glass sheet no obstacle to his wants as he smashed through and grabbed it. It was on that very night, his Burmy had evolved into the beautiful bagworm she was today as if to emulate her trusted trainer. How he longed for his coat right now as the cold seeped deeper and deeper into his very soul.

Jackie was too overcome by his frigid fugue to notice Spiritomb sweep his malicious mistress away, the whole scene clouded by a fog as the disoriented Dark Type stumbled around, his body slowly shutting down. Reaching out towards the opening in the ceiling as Kassandra was spirited away, it was unknown to even Jackie if he was trying to stop them or just warm himself in the piercing light from above.

Wormadam could sense something wrong, a sharp shiver travelling across her body. Looking up she could see Jackie teetering off the edge of the catwalk, holding on to the edge before collapsing on and the over it. With a look of sheer horror, the Bagworm Pokémon rushed to her trainer's aid, leaping with all the strength she could muster, the string like sinew of her arms giving their all as she propelled herself hoping to reaching her beloved brother in time. Jackie hit the floor with a terrible crack, the noise worse than any Metal Sound Wormadam could ever make...

Jackie pulled himself along the ground as he crawled towards the sunlight in the vain attempt to warm himself In it's golden rays. With the last of his strength, the dying Dark Types body gave out within the light of the Sun, the shining beams like a spotlight in the dark of the cave for Jackie's final act. This is what his life had amounted too? He was supposed to save the world but all he did was help Falco's coup and Arceus knows what he would do with Chance? Falco's deal had included Chances life and now it look like it was going to be a three on one for the Electric Type, Jackie's attempt to save him proving futile, and only confirming he was still the same weedy weakling he always tried to escape from. It was almost funny how pathetic his life had been, the debasing Dark Type would have laughed if he could muster the strength but already he could feel the worms eating away at his body in the warm sunlight...

Hopping towards him Wormadam lifted his head and nestled it against her body, Jackie's red hair becoming a dark crimson as blood seeped from his ears and head. Stroking his hair with her arm, the scarlet strands sticky with the life sustaining liquid, she reached down to her shroud with the other, covering the miniscule holes within it as she used Metal Sound, her fingers gracefully moving other them and producing a beautiful melody, her cloak like a flute as she tried to soothe the haunted Hyde as he lay beside her.

Though deep down they both knew this was to be his swan song.
