Some would argue that the 60 gold from turning in the sailors would be part of it.
I would argue this >8[ The original job was to find dem crates.

(also because Astra would do none of that unofficial shit)

Think of it this way:

If we didn't find out the merchant who wanted us to get the crates was selling shark scale whatever-

We would get 60gp anyways for turning in the smugglers to the original thing we grabbed.

If anything, finding out the merchant was bad news wasn't apart of the 'original bounty' we signed up for.

So if anything was 'bounty hunting' it'd be the 500gp :P

I'm most with Kagu, except for the part of the 500 gp bounty. I'm thinking in video game terms here, but when the quest path diverges so that the quest giver is rotten, in the end it's still apart of the same quest where we were supposed to turn in the crates. Just because the ending wasn't what we expected, doesn't mean it's no longer the same quest. I am for giving the 500 gp over to the Official Gold pot, and the rest split among us.

What's taht got to do with the 60gp D:

Nothing, the 500 gold was the reward from the main quest that just happened to turn out differently than we expected, so it still goes to the captain and the ship/crew. The 60+ gold gets split among the party.

Travolta that was my argument in the first place.

So basically you don't agree with anything I said Dx

I must have misread your post, then, my bad! <3
BUT IT SEEMED LIKE YOU WERE AGREEING *rawgghh*

Anyways to clarify;

60 gp bounty from turning in the smugglers who STOLE the crates
The 60 GP was the reward for turning in the people that stole the crates we were originally looking for in the bounty we had picked up.

I'm saying the 60gp SHOULD be part of the official goal considering that's what the original bounty was for.

It just so happened the dude who hired us was a douche canoe and we got 500gp.

Ah, see, to me the 60 gp qualifies as side quest earnings, because they weren't formally apart of the main quest to find the crates. We just happened to luck in to them by beating up the thief smugglers turning them in.

What were we going to get paid for finding the crates for the dude anyways, tho? Reminder Anyone? D:

I wasn't there so I don't know how it went down but it seems to me like we found the crates and apprehended the people who stole them, I mean what else were we gonna do? just take the crates and leave?

The guy was going to pay us 300 gp to find the crates, but this was shady as he realistically could only sell them for something like, 250 gp, so he would barely be making a profit. Turns out the merchant who hired us to find the crate was smuggling shark scale armor, which is like, super illegal.

So, we had a merchant who hired us to find the crates who was a smuggler, and the thieves who stole the crates who where also smugglers.

We decided to try and go for max profit by beating up the thieves and taking their stuff (the 16 gp, 25 sp, 69 cp), then turning in the thieves for their bounty (The 60 Gp) and THEN turning in the merchant who hired us originally (the 500 gp)

So, the sweet dough we got from turning in the merchant (the 500 gp) who hired us but was also a smuggler was the only "Official" payment, even if that payment was gotten in a rather round about manner. The gold we got from beating up the thieves and taking their stuff, and then turning them in was an unofficial bonus from the quest, thus qualifying for Unofficial Gold, at least in my mind.

The way it was stated yesterday was this, Kagura: "We received 500g for reporting him for smuggling what WAS IN the crates. The men you decided to turn in were all worth 60g together."

We had to get the crates back. The job description had nothing to do with the 60g bounty of the scum we captured that were responsible for stealing them. If the guys who stole them just gave them back without a fight, we would have still been paid (assuming the man who hired us wasn't going to try and double cross us when he got the crates back).

We would have still reported him for smuggling in the first place due to having accepted the job of getting them back. Granted, we had to get the crates back no matter the cost. But whether we stole them, fought them, black-mailed them, etc etc didn't matter. Just so happens, though- that a history check was done, and we recognized (two of us did) that these guys had a bounty. So we took it upon ourselves (Again, not part of the job) to turn the guys in and get paid. We just as well COULD HAVE let them go. Turning them in was our choice entirely.
