It is a Glorious Thing (IC) [The Pirates of Penn'Zannce]

"Monk, is perfectly fine for you." Ce'Relinia draws her obvious weapon and points its tip at the offensive Dragon Blooded. "Your terms are not acceptable, just as your authority is unacceptable. I do not eagerly await a fight with you but, for the defense of this ship and those aboard her, I will fight." She glances at Shiva and spreads her black wings in anticipation of hostilities.

Sai'pan is hesitant to start a fight with the immaculates, especially as they are led by what appears to be a Dragon-Blood. He wasn't am adheremt of the Immaculate faith, as evidenced by his use of an Anathema weapon, but he had a healthy respect for those Chosen of the Dragons. Still, something in him made him straighten his back. After all, this ship hasn't been out long, and already this Chosen proclaims they've been "too successful". Something didn't feel right, and he wasn't about to lay low.

Trying not to draw too much attention, he picks up his moonsilver chain daiklaive, holding it in one hand behind him, to try and minimize the chances of the Dragon-Blood to notice it.

"Bring it on." Palemo says, starting to draw his daiklave before staggering. "What the fuck?" He asks, turning slightly to see behind him, where an immense tentacle begins to poke over the side of the V'neef carrack.

OOC: And Join Battle.

Ce'Relinia narrows her eyes at the other craft, "That doesn't bode well."

--------

OOC:Ce'Relinia rolls 5 dice to Join Battle 9,5,4,6,4 (1 success)

Shiva laughed slightly.

"My friend is right, Monk is just fine for you. Soon you're going to be just another dead body at sea anyways. I'm Shiva the empress of the seas and yo-... what the hell is that?"

She stopped in the middle of what was surely going to be a great speech as she noticed the monk turn and what the monk turned for.

-----------------------

Terrible Join Battle Roll lol

Shiva rolled the following in his 5 dice:

9, 3, 6, 6, 1

Using 7 as the target number, the roll resulted in 1 successes.

Shaking slightly behind Ce'Relinia, Sana put her arm around that of the taller girl, her hand resting nervously on the handheld essence cannon strapped to her waist. She didn't want to get in the way, but just for a moment, she needed the support. She didn't quite know what was going on, but judging from the reaction of the robed men, he had not been expecting that tentacle... and if he hadn't been expecting it, it may be a threat to them as well.

And that meant they may have to fight after all. While the thought of facing her first battle frightened her, the possibility of her friends being hurt was far worse.

Sana tightened her grip on the weapon, her hold firmer now, though still shaking. No matter what happened, she had to try.

Voices.

Stretched out on a hammock, Kamalee opened her eyes and listened. Talking, not that she could make out but... there were unfamiliar tones. The feel of the ship suggested they had stopped, and a shadow through a porthole that there was another ship outside. Carefully getting up, the raven-haired woman pushed her eye up to the small circular window and looked out to see...

"Oh, no..."

--------------

As a little self-punishment for lateness, I'll start Kama below decks; she'll probably take at least an action to get up to the deck.

Join Battle pool is 7. Result: 9 6 2 8 10 2 9 (5 successes)

Pushing off from the wall, Kama went for the door, dodging the clutter and supports of the ship's cramped innards and squeezing through the narrow exit on her way to the deck. Over ropes, between crates, and up the steep steps she went, the wood creaking all around her; it was impossible to move too quickly, and she was not too familiar with the ship yet.

----------

It's probably impossible to Dash inside a ship, so I'll Move. I don't know how long exactly it should take her to get up.

I have to try. I can't let anyone get hurt...

Taking a step away from Ce'Relinia to ensure that she both had a clear view and wouldn't be in the way, Sana withdrew her weapon from its holster. Hoping that the men on the other ship wouldn't mistake her actions for an act of hostility towards them, she leveled the weapon towards the tentacle raised up on deck, trying to focus her aim.

--------------

Flurrying Aim and Draw, as I asked in the topic.

Just after Sana draws her weapon, several more tentacles appear, some of them in the gap between the V'neef carrack and pirate vessel.

Not sure how to react just yet to these tentacles, or what they represent, Sai'pan stands ready to act on a moment's notice if circumstances change. Maybe I should have began to plot a course away from here...

OOC: Taking a Guard action, speed 3

"Be careful Sana," she tells the young Air folk girl with a firm but concerned tone in Old Realm, "Do not get near the edges of the ship. I will try and keep them from harming you." With that she spreads her wings and with a small jump she takes to the sky and charges at one of the nearest tentacles, her black blade's form gleaming in the light of the day, as it was held beside her before she swings it in a deadly arc at the lowest point of a tentacle before pulling up, turning, and hovering there her large black wings keeping her aloft.

Daiklave hit: Speed 5 Rolled Hit (13+2 for 6 Successes DV 6-1 (Both Parry and Dodge)

Ce'Relinia's blow connects, drawing a spurt of inky blood, but fails to otherwise harm the tentacle. One of the other tentacles then lashes out at Palemo, but the monk dodges as he draws his daiklave.

Finally bursting up onto the deck through a hatch, Kamalee deftly rolls upright and tries to take stock of the situation. It is at this point that she realizes she may have been somewhat impetuous. What enemies she could see were either Immaculate monks - who completely outclassed her - or various tentacles, not known for their susceptibility to being punched. Still... was there something odd in this scenario? Keeping back from that side of the boat, she set her mind to thinking fast.

------------

I'm going to have Kama assess the situation and try think if she knows or can figure out anything: whether she can identify any of the monks (or at least, their ranks), what she knows about the tentacle creature, and what else she can tell about the situation. I'd assume I should make some sort of roll, but I'd like to know which. I'll assume this is equivalent to an Aim action in terms of how long it may take.

Edit: Roll is Perception + Awareness, total 7 dice. Result: 2 10 6 1 10 1 8 (5 successes)

Sai'pan keeps on guarding, ready to burst into action. On the one hand he's willing to fight at the command of the captain, especially when he's been offered alcohol, but the arrival of the strange tentacled creature has thrown him completely off-guard on what to do. So far the creature seems to go after the Dragon-Blood, and he didn't want to "get in the way".

Guard action again (3/0)

Heeding Ce'Relinia's advice, Sana took a few more steps back. More tentacles had risen out of the water. So far the men on the other ship were the only ones that had been targeted, and she wasn't sure if they were friendly, but... no matter what, she couldn't just stand by and watch them be killed.

Taking a split second to gauge the movement and speed of her target, Sana grit her teeth and pulled the trigger.

--------------

Attacking the... tentacle I was aiming at before, if it matters which. I'll update with a roll once Invisible Castle is up, but feel free to roll it on your own to speed things up if I'm not around.

EDIT: Rolled 13 + 1 dice for 5 successes (10,7,3,6,3,7,5,1,5,1,9,2,2,5)

Shiva was caught off guard by the tentacle and wondered slightly if this was the monks fault. Still she didn't have time to think about it too much. She bent to one knee, grounding herself on the ship as best she could and moved the gun up to take careful aim on the creature. She wanted to hit it perfectly, just the right place to cause as much damage as possible. Reloading was a pain in the ass after all. Her aim was on the closest of the tentacles.

----

Aim action.

Sana's attack severs the tentacle she was aiming at. One of the rear monks steps forward. "Kamalee? Is that you, Kamalee?"

"Lano? What are you doing out here!?"

A childhood friend. One of the ones she liked better than others, but...
She only a moment to inwardly curse the coincidences that ruled her life before being more alarmed by the blind swipe of a massive tentacle above the other ship's deck. What was going on? Had the other ship done something, made some enemy? As the flexing appendages curved through the air it struck her how large the creature that owned them must be... and where it was likely to be under the water.

"Anchor!" she shouted to them, pointing to the large, half-pointed and above all heavy piece of metal that hung from the side of their ship. "Drop your anchor on it!!"

---------

While talking, Guard action.

Ce'Relinia flies around her intended target rising above it before diving once again at the tentacle. Her black wings gleam with water as she strikes quickly and forces herself up the tips of her wings touching the churning waves. Gliding back she turns to see how effective she has been. She had witnessed Sana's attack, a smile toughing her lips as the tentacle fell.

-----------

(Daiklave Strike 2! + 1 Stunt (14 Die for 6 Successes, Speed 5 DV -1)

With a curse under his breath, which isn't much, considering his normal voice is no more than a whisper, Sai'pan maps a small jump to the railway, his legs used to the rolling of the waves, and swings his moonsilver chain daiklaive at the nearest tentacle, which still keeps him a bit of a distance away, due to his weapon's reach.

Ce'Relinia and Sai'pan's blows strike true, causing all but one off the tentacles to retract under the surface.

"Lano, shut up and get back in line!" Palemo orders, swinging his daiklave at the tentacle remaining above water.

Shaking slightly from surprise at her success, Sana points her gun towards the last visible tentacle, swaying in the water mere yards away from her. So far no one had been hurt, and if she hit again she might be able to end the battle. But if she missed...

Sana shoved down her uncertainty, steadied her aim, and pulled the trigger. In that moment, she knew hesitating was the worst thing she could do. While there was a chance that a miss would give the creature another chance to strike, taking too long to act would be almost certain to do so. She didn't want to take that chance.
