It is a Glorious Thing (IC) [The Pirates of Penn'Zannce]

Early one morning, a cry can be heard from the crow's nest. "Carrack off the starboard bow!" On the deck, the duty watch hurriedly starts preparing for battle.

Sai'pan begins cursing under his breath, which isn't really audible, since his normal voice isn't more than a whisper, after the cut he suffered to his throat years ago. He really disliked having to set a new course when hunters were out trying to capture a ship he's on.

Having been awake and doing some minor stretching exercises Ce'Relinia had heard the call and her eyes light up. Ce'Relinia folds her wings against her back as she draws her black blade from its sheath. Her azure blue eyes scans the waters as the others scramble and get ready. It was their job to keep the ship moving, it was hers to smite their enemies if they got close. Sure, it was regardless to position where they came to her, or she and this ship moved to them, but as long Sana was aboard, no one, and absolutely no one would sink this ship or harm her. Ce'Relinia has kept this silent vow to herself, though she was sure Sana understood as well as anyone else, what it means to survive in this world. Perhaps more so than Ce'Relinia understood herself.

She turns towards the direction of the ship attempt to gauge its threat value, some ships needed her skill observed, others were too weak for her to deal with. Assuredly though, if there were Dragon Blooded or Lintha on the on coming ship then she would fight, tooth, nail, and sword, one couldn't underestimate the exalted of the Realm.

Ce'Relinia can see a Realm flag, above a banner reading House V'neef in Old Realm. It does not appear to be heavily armed.

Shiva walked past her crew members making her way to the helm of the ship. She had her firewand out, holding it with her right hand and leaning it against her right shoulder. On her left shoulder sat Jack, her spider monkey companion who was currently simply watching the events curiously. Shiva herself seemed to be in no hurry as she walked to the helm with a smile stretched across her face. In fact she seemed to be savoring the short time before battle, showing very little fear of what was to come. That was because, to be perfectly honest, she was ready and willing to take on any odds in the hopes of exalting. You could even say she was excited to face death, as she thought this was her only way to truly reach her goal.

She stepped up to the helm, calling out to anyone who could hear her yell.

“Aye, what flag do they bear, and how much resistance should we expect?â€

Shiva looked outward to at the ship with a smirk.

Sana's head jerked up off the bed at the shout. Trying to blink the sleep out of her eyes, she looked around the room blearily and tried to figure out what was going on. She couldn't understand the words, but the voice had sounded agitated. She hoped that nobody was mad at her... she had just meant to take a little rest, not fall asleep. But judging from the light, she hadn't been out for too long, so hopefully...

After a moment, she realized that the room was empty and the voices were still coming from outside. But if it wasn't her, what was going on?

Pushing herself off the bed, Sana leaned against the wall for a moment, steadying herself before making her way to the door. She pushed it open hesitantly, peering outside to try and make out what was going on, soon spotting Ce'Relinia and the others at the far end of the ship. They seemed focus on on a large vessel in the distance...

Feeling nervous and uncertain of what to do, Sana simply continued watching from the cover of the door, hoping everything was all right.

Ce'Relinia glances to Shiva with an impassive look and calls back to her. "House V'Neef of the Realm graces us here. So assuredly Dragon Blooded. It might be more of a bloody nose rather than any loot for this encounter." Ce'Relinia turns slowly towards the cabin and finds Sana there, giving the young air folk girl a reassuring nod, she turns back watching the ship coming towards them. If the Dragon Blooded felt particularly righteous then there would definitely be a battle.

Hearing that it's a Realm ship, Sai'pan quickly puts a cloth over the moonsilver chain daiklaive resting at his feet. He may be ugly as hell, but he knows enough to keep such an item away from the prying eyes of the Realm.

Shiva laughed as she heard the information about the realm ship, as if it was some kind of hilarious joke. Of course, anyone who might not have thought almost getting killed would have made their day might have thought Shiva was a little off her rocker. She however wasn’t, rather she welcomed the idea of strong opponents, thinking that somehow by fighting to the death she was going to get her wishes and exalt. This idea was near complete ignorance of exaltation, but none the less the only thing running through her head at this very second.

“Realm Dragons haunt our seas today huh? So be it, let them come…â€

Her words were merely a breath, to be heard by only her as she was in the moment right now, and seemed to forget not to talk to herself. She moved forward taking a position to let as many of the crew as possible see her now. She called out to the crew laughing as she did.

“Alright you sea dogs, we got ourselves a realm ship coming up on us and no doubt it’s going to have a few of those noble snob dragon blooded on there. Know what the problem with those noble dragon blooded pups is? They think they are a better breed then us sea dog mutts! What they don’t know is that a mutt’s fangs can be just as sharp! I think we should remind them! The second those puppy dogs on the other ship even look like they are going to attack I want to blow them all the way back to the gods that spawned them! We own these seas! Let’s not let them forget it!â€

Shiva raised her gun into the air, in a sort of rally the troop’s kind of way. To be honest, she wasn’t the best talker in the world, but she did seem to enjoy doing it. As she finished up she turned to Sai’pan with what looked like a smile that stretched from ear to ear.

“Sai’pan my friend, I dare not say how I would feel if you were to get hurt. You’re as capable a pirate as any of us; I trust you are ready if battle breaks out? Haven’t been hitting the booze without me have ya? Perhaps if all goes well we can drink to the sght of a sunken realm ship tonight?â€

Sai'pan's face lights up when Shiva mentions booze. He didn't even know they had some onboard!! Normally he would have asked the cook, but the poor man seems to be truly terrified of Sai'pan's mutilated face.

He still didn't really like the idea of fighting those damned Dragon-Bloods, but if that ship has some on board, it's unlikely they would just elt a pirate ship go by.

Ce'Relinia sighs at Shiva's excited nature as she brings some courage to her crew. It helped Ce'Relinia none however. She turns, her jet black and long hair flowing behind her and falling between her black wings she makes her way to Sana.

"We are going to be fighting soon," she tells the young woman in Old Realm. "They are Dragon Blood and they will be tough opponents. I will not ask you to join in the fight, but if you do not then please return to below decks, it will be safer there."

Shiva saw Sai'pan's face light up and knew just what that meant. She loved drinking, though maybe not as much as Sai’pan, but it was good to have someone to drink with. He wasn’t a looker, but she always felt as if he had the pirate spirit in him. That was all she needed to like him, after all, any pirate good pirate already knew looks didn’t mean a thing. It was all in mannerisms.

“Yahaha! Good man! Finest on the crew I tell ya!â€

Shiva turned to watch the ship grow ever closer. Her grip on her firewand grew ever tighter as the ship drew ever closer.

"I..."

Sana hesitated, her gaze falling to the ground. She hated fighting, but...

"...I'll help. I don't want anyone to get hurt..."

As the V'neef carrack draws closer, the pirates can see a small group of robed people with shaved heads standing in the bow.

Sai'pan kept his weapon hidden under a cloth next to his feet. He had no desire to fight Immaculate monks if he could avoid it, especially when he's got a Moonsilver weapon, and might be targeted as an Anathema.

Shiva stood strong and proud but said nothing. Her trigger finger wasn't going to hold out much longer. She wanted just one sign, just the smallest sign that they were going to attack and she wouldn't hesitate to shoot one of them in the head. She might not have understood the entire concept of Immaculate Monks about to attack you. Still, she wanted this. She wanted the fight, and if she had to hold out any longer she may be the one to fire the first shot. The only reason she was even holding back from attacking was the fact that she realized dragon blooded were powerful creatures, and that it might be a bad idea.

Either way, she wasn't going to hold this for too long.

When the V'neef carrack is about twenty yards away from the pirate vessel, one of the Immaculates shouts across the gap. "Are you the vessel Silken Mermaid?"

Shiva shouted out first, making sure her voice was strong and loud. She didn’t want to seem like she was someone to push aside. Her hand tightened on the firewand as she did, she was only a second away from taking aim and shooting.

“What if we were? What business do you have?â€

Shiva gave a small smirk as she spoke, showing her bit of defiance against authority.

The Immaculate frowns. "We have a message for it's captain. Now are you going to tell us like good mortals, or are we going to have to give you a spanking first?"

The head monk seems increasingly irritated. "Look, do you lot even have a clue what in the name of Daana'd you're doing out here?"

Shiva grunted slightly.

"As you wish. I am Shiva, captain of 'Silken Mermaid' and the one you seek. If you have a message for me now would be the time to deliver it."

She spoke very matter-of-fact, and walked to a better position so the monks could see her. Her eyes moved across their ship looking quickly for any danger, and just generally some more detail about the ship. She heard the man get a bit impatient and spoke with a bit of a sharp tongue.

"Aye, we know what we are doing monk. We are sailors. We sail."

Perception + Awareness to check the ship out a bit more.

Shiva rolled the following in his 5 dice:

9, 5, 10, 4, 3

Using 7 as the target number, the roll resulted in 3 successes.

"All right, here's the message: You've been too successful. Either you agree to stop and surrender yourselves peacefully, or we kill your crew and sell you as slaves. Which'll it be?" He grins nastily at Shiva, who can tell that the crew of the V'neef ship looks rather unhappy at this, and that only the Immaculates are currently armed, while the speaker is the only visibly Exalted one.

Shiva laughed a little.

"You threaten us, yet your men bear no arms? Do you wish to see them slaughtered? You care so little for your crew? Surely you jest my friend. If not, can I ask if you have booze on your ship? See I promised a friend we could drink, but our booze are relatively low... so if we do have to slaughter your crew I would at least like to know we will get booze out of it."

She may have spoke a bit hypocritically about sending a crew to slaughter given her past, but she did do it thinking she would exalt and save them. Shiva moved her gun from resting on her shoulder to a more readied position. She spoke softer to her crew members now, cocky and arrogant as ever.

"Someone perhaps a little better at speaking then I, could you inform that Dragon Blooded's crew that he intends to slaughter them? That might make things a little more interesting..."

"You know, you really shouldn't be so insulting to your betters. Besides, when did I say the crew were going to be attacking. We're Immaculates, we're good enough to defeat mere mortals on our own." The head Immaculate says arrogantly. "By the way, my name is V'neef Palemo. Not 'monk'."
