Into the Shadows - When darkness spreads, true heroes will be the light.

It has been months since the first reports came in. On the very outskirts of the known land, multiple towns started reporting of some kind of... thing moving towards them, albeit slowly. It has been months since the first reports came in. On the very outskirts of the known land, multiple towns started reporting of some kind of... thing moving towards them, albeit slowly. Whenever something went in, nothing came out. Soon after, towns and villages started getting raided by monsters. Not average monsters like dire wolves, dragons, or basilisks, but strage, shadowy monsters that were enveloped in black and purple. They attacked without mercy, and came in all shapes and sizes. There have even been a few reports of human, dwarven, and elven like monsters joining the raids. No one knows what it could be. Now, the dark corruption is slowly creeping closer to the largest city on the planet: Northfair. Despite the worries of his citizens, the King has hosted a large celebration in honor of the people, called 'The Festival of Men". Children play games, performers entertain large crowds, and merchants sell their items to passers by. Many bars and taverns as well, enjoying the business the festival brings. For some odd reason, however, there are guard patrols walking around the place. Rumor has it that the King is looking for a group of individuals to venture out and find a way to destroy the darkness.

Connor walked through the large wooden gates of the festival and sighed. Shadow walked up next to him and eyed his surroundings. Neither spoke. The dog was examining a few passers by, while the man was looking around for something to do. The young man petted his pet. "Well Shadow, you see anything?" Shadow just looked up to his owner at the mention of his own name. "Didn't think so." Connor continued is search for something interesting, while Shadow simply followed. After a few more minutes of walking around, the pair spotted a group of guards walking towards them. One was grinning and playing with a pouch full of money, smirking. Behind them, a young woman was crying and pointing to the group of guards. There were about six of them. Connor simply walked towards the group, eventually walking through them. The guard with the money had put it on his side, where Connor easily grabbed it nonchalantly and continued walking. None of the guards noticed. He walked up to the young women and, without saying anything, dropped the money on her lap. Her eyes went from sad to astonished. "T-thank you!" Connor was already walking away, when both he and Shadow turned around to see the guard checking for the money. The patrol turned around, saw him, and brandished their weapons. "Oh, crap."

Peyton had witnessed the guards taking the woman's money, and gave a small smile when the man (Conner) had stolen it and returned it to her. He saw the guards and cursed under his breath. Peyton used his long staff as a type of walking stick, the blade on the end making small little picks on the ground. "Cursed guards always do this sort of thing..." He said to himself. He wondered if he should do something...But there were six guards, each of them well-armed. He watched as the guards had their weapons ready and started to walk towards the man. He stepped forward as the guards did. His staff made small clanking sounds as it met the ground while he used it as a walking stick. He was shy and timid, but knew when he had to get involved. He snapped his fingers, causing a small flame to ignite on his fingertip. He stepped in sight of the guards, trying to intimidate them with the flame, Peyton was standing in front of the man who helped the woman.

Drax was walking through the festival trying to shake off last night's transformation the full moons were becoming more common than usual and he hated every second of it there were even times where he'd change during the day but hopefully it doesn't happen here he honestly needed a place to rest without being attacked "well I'll be dammed" he he said quietly as he looked over and saw a gaurd stealing money from an woman but then some guy took it back people like that got his respect easily but everything took a turn for the worst when the gaurds turned on the man it looked like an unfair fight until another guy joined in but they were still outnumbered, h e let out a low growl and rushed over to where they were standing and stared down the gaurds if he had to he'd transform right now even though he hated doing so "looks like an unfair fight hope you don't mind if I cut in" he said staring straight at the gaurds.

Connor tilted his head slightly in confusion when the man stepped in front of him. He didn't need help, after all, it was only six men, but he still appreciated it. He was about to say something, but he turned his attention to Shadow when the dog growled. Shadow was looking behind his owner, so Connor turned around to see what he was growling at. He saw that there was another guard patrol, 6 of them, that were approaching. It was only a pouch of money... He thought to himself "There are a few behind you. I'll take them, you take the ones you're facing." Connor raised his fists. He didn't want to kill anyone, but he certainly wouldn't leave them able to walk. Shadow ran off to the side, away from the guards and through the small crowd that was beginning to watch as the guards got closer and closer.

You know for someone at a lively festival, Nero was feeling quite lonely. Not because there were no people, there were plenty of those, but none suited his style. His style, being of course, people that were more dead than alive. Walking, or sulking through the crowd, Nero wanted some type of entertainment. Which happened to come upon 3 people facing off against 12 guards. Honestly it was an unfair fight, but that didn't matter to Nero, as long as it entertained. If this didn't come as such, well then Nero had away to make it interesting. Sitting down on the ground in the outside of the circle that was now emerging. A slight dark aura was surrounding him, but that was only for emergencies.

Sebastian was in a tavern, flirting with the barmaid. The barmaid was only 20 years, not even an adult yet. She had to work at this tavern to support for her family. Sebastian was about to ask more when he heard shouting outside. A small crowd started to form outside, growing bigger and bigger. "My, my, and I thought this town was boring." Sebastian said, grinning. "Thank you for your time, but I'm afraid that there are matters I need to address to." He said to the barmaid, giving her a hefty amount of gold in return for her story. Sebastian went to the crowd. Sebastian was easily distinguished from the commoners. He wore an elegant, custom-made suit and pants. As uncomfortable as it may seem, the clothes were actually made for travelling. In the middle of the crowd, he saw 3 people facing off against 12 guards, and another one going over to join them. "Well, this is interesting." He said, joining them. "Gentlemen!" He address both the guards and the others. "Is bloodshed really necessary?" He asked. The guards just shouted at him to back off. "Well then, might as well look the part." He said, chuckling. With a snap of his fingers, a black suit of armor and a pair of clawed gauntlet materialized from out of nowhere. "Gentlemen," He addressed the others. "Let's try not to kill them." He said, grinning under the armor.

Aria enters the gates of the festival with her companion and best friend, Tristana, by her side. "Look at all the people, all the happiness. People are wonderful creatures. Even in bad times like this, they can still find enjoyment in lfe." Tristana looked up at Aria, using her telepathy so she didn't alarm any of the townspeople. They walk over and sat down on the bench. that was across the road from a stage were a play was going on. Aria starts to watch all the children running around playing with fake swords and shields, pretending to be knights of the kingdom. A little girl runs up to Aria holding a flower, raising up her hand. "You're very pretty. This is for you." Aria reaches down and takes the flower and gives the little girl a smile, the little girl runs off. Down the road some, notices a bunch of commotion in the middle. "Whachya think is going on up their Trist?" Aria looks down at Tristana and pets her head. "Should we go and check it out?", Tristana says with intense curiosity. "Yeah, let's go."

Aria and Tristana walk over to the crowd of people but stands back at a good distance. She over hears the talk about the stolen money as more and more people join in to protect the kind thief. "Shall we help them Tristana? I mean, they're way out numbered." Aria looks down to Tristana. Tristana nods her head. They quickly charge up to the top of the house by jumping up on to a carriage that was parked near the house. Aria sits perched up on top on the house watching, waiting for someone to make the first move. As soon as the one man made his armour appear, Aria jumped off the roof into the middle of the grouped men. "Don't be alarmed, I'm here to help."

Tempest Bateaux is sitting on a wishing well, seafoam eyes travelling over those who were facing off. Missy was laying silently underneath Tempest's slowly swaying feet, not making a peep as she was most likely intent on watching this scene in front of her. She clutches her trident to her body and watches, muscles coiled like a spring. She slips onto her feet and timidly tiptoes forwards and into the fray of people close to the guards."I hope you don't mind me joining you," she murmurs, eyes flicking around everyone. Missy had gotten up to watch her master with slitted eyes, as if threatening her to stay safe and not get injured."It seems like the fight was alltogether unfair without the help of an outsider."

It's much too late to stop just now, what would everyone else think if she just sat down again after getting up?

All she does is heft her trident in her hands, warily eyeing everyone just as her white lioness was. But with less hunger and murderous intent.

Connor took a moment to take note of the fact that six different people, strangers, had come to his aid. He would have to thank them all later, but now, they had a fight to get to. "Twelve guards. Seven of us. Three of us should take the ones in the back, four of us should take the ones in the front. I'll be in the back. I need two others to fight with me." He searched through the crowd, and could barely see Shadow stalking the guards.

"I'm with you." Peyton said to Connor, taking the first place by his side. "I'm really tired of guards doing this...time to shut 'em up." He said, and instantly covered his mouth. Did he really just say that? He readied his staff, allowing small flames to emerge from it. The guards were getting ready for a fight...a street brawl that would leave many speechless.

Tempest backs up towards the two who were talking about positions."I can fight with you two," she mumbles to the two, her presence could have gone unnoticed by how lightly she tread on the cobblestone ground. Her dress seemed very out of place with all the armoured men and women around her. It was almost like she wasn't prepared in armour, even though she was just wearing what could pass as common day clothes to most. She flicks her hair out of her face to get a full peripheral view of the guards."Do you think more will come?" She voices her concern softly, so as not to give the other guards any ideas. She readjusts the grip on her gleaming trident, feet moving to a much readier stance.

Nero finally finished his preparations, his dark aura flaring into his hands. He apparently was going to join this fight, for he let his hands touch the ground on either side of him. Scrolls that had been placed down now illuminated with a eerie purple light, but not big enough to alert anyone in the crowd for they were to busy watching the fight. No one had seem to notice him, not even the main fighter, for he didn't include them in his fighting strategy. Nero would be recognized by the end of his fight, for the light traveled across the ground to the side of the group. It burst very brightly, but was gone in an instant, heading down into the earth. Nero's voice was just a whisper, but it echoed "As am I." making his presence known to the group. The echoed died, but soon a new noise replaced the silence; a cracking in the earth.

An armor plated hand reached up from the earth, gripping the ground as the hole widened. Soon, after much difficulty, the dead man reached the top, pulling himself into a stance. It was a guard also, but it was quite apparent that he was long ago dead. Dirt stained the iron armor, as his sword was riddled with cracks and dings, but he was able to fight. He was obviously of some high rank, for his head was plumed with a cardinal feather. In a raspy voice he answered to the leader himself, "Nero the necromancer shall give you aid, be grateful troublemaker." this was followed by a laugh. Nero was laughing also to the side, for he was enjoying this rag tag band, but his demeanor was still permeating the air showing that he was serious.

"I guess I'll take the ones over here" drax said quietly as he looked over at the gaurds and growled fiercely at them as he unsheathed his sword, he had to fight his animal urges to change right he for all he knew these guys could kill him if they saw what he was a monster underneath all this but he shook the thought and waited for his back up to face the other set of gaurds.

Tempest turns her head slightly as she hears growling. Missy seems to register that he was not human as her fur bristles."Are we... Going to make a count and all go at once to get the drop on them?" She asks those who were close enough to hear her. She was remarkably soft spoken for someone who had willingly joined a street brawl. Basic tactical moves flow in and out of her head like water as she looks at the guards shuffling and preparing."There's probably two with a pole arm weapon," she observes quietly to herself."Someone either needs to disarm them from afar or get out of their swinging range and get right in. But there's also the axe-wielder. His shield will be hard to get by. Huh," she probably sounded like a madwoman, but making observations in battle was something kept her from dissolving into a mass of panicked nerves.

Aria stands her ground with her hands up ready to make a move. "If we wait any longer, more will show.", Aria thought to herself. Aria jumped about 12 ft. into air, flipping smoothly backwards, as she was suspended upside down, she examined four of the soldiers behind them. "Now Trist.", Aria said telepathically to Tristana. Tristana ran towards the soldiers, barked and acted as if she were going to bite on their legs. Knowing they'd attack back, she jumped out of the way of their kicks as Aria landed behind one of them. Aria quickly grabbed the soldier's shoulder and pulled him down as she swung down and around his body, pushing her feet against his chest, shooting her towards the other soldier. She grabbed the hole of the chest plate where the man's arms go through pulling him down. The soldier tried to hold himself up so he didn't fall like his comrade, this only helped her. She used the strength of that soldier to speed her momentum up. Aria used the blades around her glove to pierce in the next soldier's chain mail. Getting a good grip, she kicked him behind the knee to start bringing him down too. Aria used the knee as leverage to transfer the weight to the standing soldier. This was causing the standing soldier to start to fall. Aria used a great deal of strength to roll the second soldier over her body, colliding him into the first one making them both fall as she rotates elegantly to her feet.

Seeing that the woman with the wolf started to fight, Sebastian grinned. He chanted some unknown words then he snapped his fingers. From somewhere above him, a form started to take place. It was a wyvern, a dragon with two legs and the size of a dog. This wyvern is Sebastian's familiar, Eclipse. "Did you manage to get yourself in trouble again?" The familiar asked, it's voice lazy and quite irritated. "I'll explain later. For now, just kill the guards." He said, his gauntlet cackling with electricity. "Gladly." The wyvern smirked. The nearest guard was immediately torched by the wyvern, his flesh slowly burning away in the jets of black flame spewed by the wyvern. Sebastian held a guard by his shoulder, and shocked him with a dangerously high volts of electricity.

"Attack." Connor said calmly. All of the guards heard, and all of them charged. Two guards ran towards Connor, and just before the first one reached him, Shadow pounced from his position behind them and mauled the man, scratching and biting. It wasn't enough to kill him, but he'd be out of the fight. The second guard swung his axe towards Connor, who grabbed the man's arm mid-swing. He turned, and sent his elbow into the man's neck. The guard lost grip of his weapon. Connor grabbed it, then used the curved part of the blade to trip him. He walked over to the guard and kicked him in the head, knocking him out.

Nero's corpse began trudging towards the one of the guards, sword raised high above his head. The guard immediately stabbed his spear into it, but that didn't stop the undead. Instead he pushed further, allowing the spear to go through him. Finally he reached the man and brought the sword down on to his head. The guard's helmet dented, but did not falter. Nero went for a new approach of hitting the man with the hilt of the blade. The power within the undead caused the man to release the spear and fall back a few feet, unconscious.
