Fantasy Into The Shadows (Scorpiodragon)

Spruce|Human
Spirit Den

Spruce was a middle-aged wolf, being fifty years of age, but he certainly didn't look or act old at all. Waiting for the alien to show up, he headed up the path to the den and disappeared inside, two of his caretakers napping and sweeping the den with a broom made of twigs and dried rushes. The caretakers were a mix of human and werewolf, the wolves and wolf-kin not able to help with healing the pack. That was why they fell into subordinate ranks. "Indigo," he called to the woman sweeping the floor, said woman turning at Keeper's calling her. "Heat up the fire...this alien is joining the pack and Thanatos requests his branding."

The woman bowed her head and set the broom down before making her to a small heart created of bricks and clay in a corner, stacking a few logs up for kindling to start a fire. Spruce turned back towards Kage. "Take your shirt off please and lie down somewhere. I believe we have sticks here if you need to bite down on something for the process. Once the brand is cast, you'll be a member of the pack forever...unless your blacklisted and then the flesh will be cut out where the brand is and your ears notched."

Adam|Human
Sun Den

Adam shifted on his feet as he saw his father get up and shift into his human form, the beta coming over to him with balled fists as Adam looked up and listened to his father speak. The teen flinched as his father spoke about him leaving deliberately and yet saving the lives of his cousins and siblings, the alpha's heir. "Father angry Radish scarred," said Adam. "Thought mother and father angry lives lost, family hurt or injured so left...not ashamed of me," he said. As his father towered over him, Adam whined, shrinking in on himself as the beta started in on why he had brought an alien with him to the pack and the possiblity that Kage could overthrow the alpha to take over the pack. Father seemed more angry at the possiblity of Thanatos being overthrown and some stranger taking over the pack. Adam didn't think that Kage wanted to take over the pack, he certainly hadn't hinted at such when Adam had suggested they go back to his old pack. When his father finally pulled the omega into a hug, the teen's eyes widened in shocked surprise, not expecting this gesture of affection as his father said to never leave the pack again. Adam was unsure of what to say to that so he said nothing, his arms slowly coming up to embrace his father and return the hug. "I'm sorry father," said Adam. "I didn't know the bear would show up."

Kage followed the man, his eyes watching Spruce as they entered the large and spacious den. He breathed in and nodded, following Spruce's orders and tugging off his bloodied shirt to reveal few scars on his muscular figure. The large brute settled himself down against the cool rock and exhaled slowly. "A stick would be great, if you don't mind." Kage requested politely, his gaze flickering towards the large make-shift furnace they'd created from rocks and brick-like blocks.

"I understand, sir. I'm ready whenever," Kage nodded towards the male before readying himself to be in extreme pain.

His father held him tightly, his anger slowly washing away as he listened to his son; ashamed of his own son? His brow furrowed as he shook his head and carefully pulled back enough to look down at his young son. "I'd never be ashamed unless you committed treason, son." He sighed heavily, patting his son's back and pulled away fully. "I forgive you, son. Just make sure you be safe. Now go talk to other family unless you want to talk to Heather first." Giving his son a nudge gently, he offered a rare smile and gave him a small nod.

Spruce|Human
Spirit Den

Spruce watched as the alien followed orders and took note of old scars on a muscular figure, the Keeper frowning as he observed them. As the alien laid down on a cool rock and spoke of a stick being nice, being respectful and polite, Spruce nodded once and made his way a stone shelf and pulled off a clothed bundle, opening it and pulling out a stick before covering the bundle again. Walking back to the alien, he handed it to the male to put in his mouth, turning as Indigo came up and spoke quietly in his ear. Heading towards the fire, he took the branding iron and heated it in the flames, waiting for it to turn red hot before pulling it out and Indigo brought liquid silver which was carefully placed on the branding iron using gloves and then brought over with the branding iron. "Inhale through your nose and hold it," said Spruce before dipping a finger into the liquid silver and tracing the brand onto Kage's skin. Handing the jar to Indigo, he pressed the branding iron over the liquid silver marking, the smell of silver and burning flesh wafting into the air. Removing it, he waited a few minutes and then pressed into the flesh again, just enough to let the brand stick and become permanent before moving it from the flesh and handing it to Indigo, the woman taking the branding iron and heading further into Spirit Den where there was a cool underground lake, stopping to put the jar of liquid silver on the shelf.

Spruce spoke then. "Let the air cool it and continue breathing through your nose. You can take the stick out of your mouth now but will have to remain here for a bit until the brand has a chance to cool. Do you have any questions while you wait?"

Adam|Human
Sun Den

He felt his father shake his head against his shoulder, then pull back enough to speak to him. Adam listened as his father spoke of not being ashamed of him and being glad that Adam was safe and to remain safe. "Yes sir...I'll do my best. Heather probably not let out for while," he mused, dreading speaking to Den Mother almost as much as his parents and alpha who had already shown his displeasure with the young teen. "Where mother? Already see Radish, Aqua, Nebula, Nirvana and Polaris...they seem think play time and tackle me...twice." The teen chuckled at his siblings' antics.

The male breathed in, awaiting any sign of the brand being heated enough. Hearing shuffling and the murmurs of one of the women, Kage lifted his eyes to find Spruce nodding as he got a stick from a small clothed bundle. Gratefully taking it and putting it in his mouth, he nodded slightly. Inhaling through his nose, his eyes squeezing shut as he felt the gentle burn of silver against his skin. Soon enough, the real pain came and his jaw clamped down on the twig, a pained snarl leaving his lips. His Alpha aura spiked and the twig was beginning to protest with tiny squeaks, beginning to crack. Every muscle in the omega's body was beginning to tighten and tense, his eyes snapping open and his eyes flashing a bright gold. Desperately trying to control his wolf, he inhaled unevenly, relieved that the brand was off for atleast a few moments.

The one thing he didn't expect was the branding not to be finished; regretting it already, at this moment, he let out another pained growl, this time much louder. He could smell the pungent mix of burning flesh and silver in the air, stinging his nostrils. Slowly, veins in his arms began to push to the surface, his body trembling once the brand was removed completely. Breathing heavily through his nose, he wanted to curse and yell, but he kept his cool and let up pressure from the stick in his mouth, which was at this point, snapped in half. After sputtering out the stick and shuddering, the male gained a bit more control over his breathing before he asked his questions.

"After this, where will I be put?"

Adam's Father|Human Form
Sun Den

The male studied his son and sighed softly, pointing towards the Laughing Falls. "She went with Den Mother; wanted to help out." His father replied and took his place back with Adam's aunt, his eyes glancing over towards his sister, examining the necklace she was stringing together. "Be hasty, son. Dinner soon. Hunters be back soon."

Spruce|Human
Spirit Den

Spruce ignored the growling and snarling from the omega lying on the floor before him as he was branded and when it was over, the broken stick was removed and tossed aside. It could be used for kindling and he bent to pick them up. When Kage got his breath, he questioned where he would be put from now on. Spruce considered the question as he straightened up and then spoke. "You will be run through a series of test by the high ones to determine the rank you will have," said Spruce. "For now, you'll be put into a separate den until your position can be determined and trust is gained. The testing should take place over the next few days and should you gain a rank or choose to be a subordinate, you can choose one of the dens throughout the area or you can remain in Sun Den with others. And when we migrate with the herds, you can choose a den or live within Moon Den," said Spruce.

Adam|Human
Sun Den to Laughing Stream and Laughing Falls back to Sun Den

Adam looked as his father pointed towards the direction his mother had gone, to Laughing Stream while saying his mother had gone with Den Mother to help out with the omegas and elders. The teenager nodded and started to turn away when his father said to hurry back and that dinner would be soon. "Yes father...will do best hurry," said Adam before setting off at a jog in the direction. Adam jogged through the forest towards the east, passing Spirit Den. His feet took him expertly through the territory, despite being away from the pack for a long time, the omega's instincts guiding him.

He heard Laughing Falls first as he approached, the falls rumbling in his ears as he approached and the many scents of wolves ahead of him. laughing falls.jpg

Angling down the steep cliff slopes, his claws sinking into the grooves of the stone. Adam approached from high ground in hopes of spotting his mother, even if his gut was twisting at coming across her. Laughing Stream stood somewhere ahead of him in the forest, the wolf reaching the bottom after quite a steep and precarious climb, heading through the forest and stopping at Laughing Stream, omegas and elders resting on the banks or gathered around stream and drinking. Slowing down as he approached, he looked for his mother through the wolves or Den Mother.

laughing-brook_1_orig.jpg

Adam slowed his pace as he wove through the wolves, trying to track down either female, soon spotting his mother standing next to one of the omegas who was helping a three-legged omega into the stream. Despite seeing his mother and a few eyes on him, Adam swallowed nervously and approached the woman, stumbling as he approached his mother. "M...mother," he whispered to himself.

adam's mom.jpg

"M...mother!" Adam shouted as he rushed towards his mother, the woman turning towards him at the shout.

Alpha's howl had been heard by the pack, no matter where they were. The woman stared at him with her dark brown eyes and then turned to him, for some time silence stretching between them. "Adam?" At her son's nod, she turned to help the omega rest within the water, gently lowering the wolf into the river and then turned, rushing towards her son. Embracing the teen against her, the woman held the boy close to her as she began sobbing, immediately fussing over her son, the teen internally sighing as his mother let him go and led him away before proceeding to check him over and commenting he needed to see Spruce or one of the Caretakers for a full physical. "Why did you leave Adam?"

"Thought you and father mad siblings die...injured," said Adam, explaining the same thing to his mother that he explained to his father. Juliet looked at her son and shook her head.

"Adam, there was no reason to run away. Your father may be stern but we would never be disappointed in you...unless you tried to commit treason in some way. Did your father send you?"

"Father said Den Mother was here," said Adam, "and dinner is soon so to hurry back."

"Mmm. Heather!" she called.

den mother.jpg

Further in the trees a woman appeared with premature grey hair, hair that had turned grey due to stress despite being young. The woman's blue eyes like the sky as she approached the pair, staring at Adam as if seeing a ghost. "What is it Juliet?"

"Adam came back," said Juliet.

The woman blinked and turned her gaze fully on the teen who instinctively knelt before Den Mother and bared his throat to her, hearing her walking up to him. "You came back."

Adam flinched at the disappointment in the woman's tone. "Yes Den Mother. I'm sorry for running away...for go hunt no permission."

"Thanatos accepted you back into the pack."

"Yes Den Mother."

"You are confined to Void Den except for training and meals for two moons because you ran off."

"Yes Den Mother." Adam flinched as Heather tilted the teen's chin up, pursing her lips as she stared at the teen until he averted his eyes.

"You will do what you are told and can help me with the others as compensation and whatever other tasks are needed. The important thing is you apologized and came back for it. Now go...no need to make your father upset."

Adam nodded and scurried off back to Sun Den, his mother following him as Heather told Juliet to go with her son. The teen slowed so his mother could catch up with him and headed on together, his mother insisting on a discussion and threatened to take him to Spruce herself in the morning if he did not go to see the Keeper.

The wind was howling as rain poured down on the male, his eyes glinting brightly even through the downpour. He was given the task to track a specific member, which their scent was nearly washed away by the rain and covered up by many other members that were running in the forest to help mask the particular scent. Luckily for Kage, he had a good idea of the scent; it was a strong berry scent with a hint of maple, and was very distinctable among the others surrounding it. With quick movements, he began tracking the scent through the expansive forest, ignoring the loud clashes of thunder and bright strikes of lightning blossoming from the angry skies. This night reminded him all too much of the night they had found Alex, their previous Alpha, lifeless and ripped to shreds; the image still haunted his dreams.

Flash back to that night...
Blood was in the forest air, stinging the two omegas' nose with the pungent stench of death. Adam and Kage had fled when the storm had hit; Winson wolves were beginning to take over their territory, quite mercilessly by slaughtering most of the pack members besides the younger ones. The two teens had managed to escape into the very stormy night.

Wind blew against their chilled and reddened faces as they pushed further into the storm, but nothing would prepare them for what they were about to see. Laying before them was a battle field, many of Kage's kin laying on the soppy ground, their blood staining the forest floor and their glassy eyes holding unfinished business. Adam began to panic and pressed further into the large male.

Present Time
The large wolf trekked farther along, following the scent until it completely stopped and there were multiple scents heading in every direction. With an agitated growl, he began scenting each one and finally picked it back up, his legs picking up speed through the muddy terrain. His eyes narrowed as he heard a rustle from infront of him. He barreled forward, continuing to follow the scent, his breaths showing through the cold night.

'This pack is an odd one, I'll give it that.."

"Maybe I'll get to see Adam after this!"

"Wait, he's having to stay in that den..the Void Den? Or whatever it's called?"

Adam|Human
Void Den

void den.jpg

Den Mother, Mothers, Pups, Elders and Omegas all lived within Void Den. A den near a water source and hidden partly by boulders and vegetation, a sloping rock face casting the den's entrance in shadow and providing shelter from storms and other bad weather. It was storming outside, the weather reminding him of the night they found the alpha lying dead, torn apart. Adam shivered in the den as he watched the rain falling before him, the thunder and lighting clashing in the darkening sky. The omega shook his head as other wolves were sleeping within the den, some pups tussling and playing roughly with each other when they should be sleeping. It had been a few days since they had returned to Yellowstone and Adam was trying to reorient himself within the pack and find his place again within the world. He was frustrated at being locked in Void Den except for training purposes but he didn't mind helping Heather with things around the area. As a couple of the pups darted out into the rain, Adam freaked and ran after them, rain pelting down on his head and clothes as he sloshed through the water after them. Grabbing them before they got very far, he picked them up by their scruffs and carried them back into the den before setting them down next to one of the mothers. "Pup no go out. Lost storm," he spoke to them, the pups yipping in annoyance. As soon as he set the pups down though, they turned and rushed at Adam, knocking the omega off his feet and his head smacked into the stone floor as stars danced before his eyes. "Ow."

Kage slowed his pace, the scent wavering and disappearing once more. With another irritated huff and shake of his soaked fur, he continued to sniff for the fruity scent; he knew that he was close to whoever he was tracking. He scented the smell once more and began to trot along where the scent occured, his eyes searching for any sign of a wolf. His body froze in place when he saw none other than Adam's father. The beta must've heard a subtle breath from Kage because he looked back with perked ears.

The omega lowered his large body, blending into the forest floor his eyes trained solely on the brute. As his father grunted and turned back around, starting to move, Kage took the chance to catch up. The large omega dug his claws into the mossy ground and used his power haunches to catapult him from his spot, running full force towards the beta. Adam's father didn't have time to react as Kage nearly tackled him and collected the looped vine around his neck that he was instructed to get once he caught whoever he'd been tracking. The older male let out a laugh like grunt and shocked the omega off, his larger body pushing off the ground and shaking the dirt off. He barked at Kage that he did good, and to take the vine back to the Over Seers of the training.

Kage dipped his head in respect and quickly turned, trotting towards the way he came, tracking his way back out.

Adam's father shook himself off as Kage left the area and went to turn in the vine. The beta had to admit, he hadn't seen such power since the Alpha and him had practiced when they were younger. He huffed softly and licked his chops before pulling his ears back and tilting his back, howling that Kage had successfully retrieved the vein. Turning around, the beta made his way down through the growth and hopped down a few logs to get to he Void Den. He saw Adam with the pups and grunted softly, trotting inside to see his mate and children.

The red haired man head his brother's howl of Kage retrieving the vine along with the other Overseer of the alien's training to determine what rank would suit him. He glanced at the white wolf next to him, Sunōgūsu.jpg who yawned before howling in answer to the beta that they had heard his message and would be waiting. "So...what do you think of this alien?"

Sunōgūsu turned his head to stare at the gamma before barking a bit. "He seems rather friendly...perhaps too close with Adam."

The gamma shrugged, turning his head back to the forest to wait for Kage's arrival. "He got Adam back to the pack and seems to care about him. So long as he treats my nephew right, I have no issues if a relationship forms between them. Adam's always been awkward around females and my brother has plenty of mates to create a suitable wolf for the position of beta."

Sunōgūsu didn't respond to that before sitting down, rain pelting the pair as they stood there under a tree and waited.

Adam|Human
Void Den

As soon as Adam hit the floor, the pups pounced on him, yipping and tugging at the omega's shirt. "Pup sleep," Adam whined, pushing the pups off him as pawsteps came towards the Void Den through the storm and he tilted his head back to see his father came walking into the den, the omega rolling over and getting to his feet. Mother didn't have to be here as she was not carrying siblings nor was she nursing any pups but she was here to watch over her son was thus talking with father's werewolf mate, Gaia who was expecting apparently. More pups for Adam's family but his parents didn't seem to mind nor did his siblings. Of course Adam had only found out yesterday Gaia was expecting. Thistle and Fallow, father's wolf mates were not in Void Den as they were not carrying or expecting either...rather he was pretty sure mother had said they were in father's den keeping him company. "F...father?" Adam questioned in confusion, not sure why his father was here. Not all of his siblings were within the den but some had stayed so they could interrogate Adam and see what his travels had been like.

The large wolf passed the tree that was marked as a starting point, his eyes finally falling on a redhead and a white wolf. Slowly his pace to a walk, Kage stopped infront of the two, holding the vine up to the redhead. His golden eyes moved between the two, before he dipped his head in respect.

The beta shook off his pelt before shifting, his clothing soaked but he didn't seem to mind. Finding Adam looking at him with a look of confusion, he chuckled and quickly picked up one of the pups. "The Alpha pup you brought is very good at tracking; he finished his test 10 minutes from the fastest time. He is something else," he chuckled, looking down at the now somewhat intimidated pups. He gave the pup a look and it shied away, covering it's small face with it's paws. "Aren't you and your siblings supposed to be asleep?"

Patrick|Gamma|Human

As Kage approached the pair of Overseers who were looking over the training of the alien wolf, the pair watched Kage slow when he reached them and dip his head in respect to them. The white wolf barked something to which Patrick glanced sideways at the other before looking back to Kage and taking the vine that was offered, examining it. "Well it seems you have passed the first test in tracking according to my brother's howl. Your next test will be in testing your stamina. That will take place over a planned course which will be set up tomorrow and consist of two parts. A six hour race total, three hours as a human and three hours as a wolf. The second part will be a multi-day race of ten days consisting of the following skills; stamina, canoeing, swimming, mountaineering, climbing, rappelling, orienting, horse riding, and hang-gliding. You are not allowed any help and will be given limited tools to survive. In the multi-day part of your stamina, we will also test your navigational skills and you will have to learn to use the stars to guide your way at night, how to build a fire and hunt and forage for yourself. Is that clear?"

Adam|Omega|Human
Location: Void Den

Adam watched as his father shook himself off and shifted to human before picking up one of the pups and speaking, concerning Kage's testing. He blinked slowly s his father said Kage was good at tracking and had finished his test ten minutes ahead of the current time. Seeing his father look down at the pups who shied away from the beta, he then questioned Adam, asking if he and his siblings were supposed to be asleep. "Pups want play...run out storm...caught before lost," Adam said. "What Kage track?" he questioned.

Kage shifted, his black hair matted and water washing over his clothed figure. He nodded, listening intently and internally cursed; a ten day test? For some reason, he felt like they were throwing him into something that would tire him out. Keeping a straight face, he finally nodded to the redhead. "Yes sir; it's understood completely. Thank you." Kage dipped his head once more before waiting to be dismissed.

Adam's Father|Human Form

His father furrowed his brow as he listened to his son speak of how the pups wanted to play. Grumbling, he set down the pup, who whimpered and scrambled towards a moss bed, followed by a few of his siblings. Straightening up, Adam's father chuckled. "He tracked me; and we even made it tougher on him. We had atleast five of our best trackers out there, running their scent over mine. He definitely surprised me." He spoke of Kage, an amused and slightly proud smile on his lips.

Watching as Kage shifted into his human form and spoke of understanding the instructions of the next test, the white wolf didn't speak at all but the gamma did so. "You will receive more instructions on the details of the second part of the tesst when it begins. Until then, your testing is over for the evening and you may return to your den where you will have a day's rest to recover and prepare for the next test. I would suggest sleeping and/or have someone take you to the summer waters...I believe humans refer to them as hot springs."

Adam|Omega|Human

Adam knew it was difficult to impress his father, so the fact that his father seemed impressed with his friend. Adam was not entirely sure if anything would develop of the pair or what would happen in the future but he knew he liked Kage being around. The pups scampered off with some of their siblings to a moss bed as his father straightened and spoke. Adam drew his thoughts from Kage and focused on his father as the older male said that Kage had tracked him and at least five of their best trackers running over his father’s scent. His father had an amused look on his face as his father spoke. “Oh. Well good for Kage,” said Adam, unsure what to say. He was not entirely sure what testing would entail for Kage, his parents and uncle not saying.

Kage nodded in acknowledgement before dipping his head once more and turning. Taking a few steps forward, he threw himself forward and shifted in mid air, taking off through the forest. Trees moved past as he ran, his mind wandering back to Adam; he wondered what the male was doing, but knew he couldn't go see him, due to the Den Mother. It angered him a bit that he couldn't see his companion, but he quickly repressed such thoughts. To blend into this pack, he needed patience and to give respect to higher ones. With this mindset in place, he finally came to the den that he was using for the time being. He shook himself off before shifting and scrubbed his face with a sigh; it had been a very long day for him.

Adam's Father
Void Den

Adam's father chuckled softly and leaned against the den wall, his eyes on his son. "He seems to be very fond of you, son. You may just be the thing keeping him motivated," his father mused, looking towards the pups who were staring with big eyes, their ears perked; they must've heard about the alien that joined. Pushing himself off the wall, the brute walked towards his son and ruffled his hair playfully. "How is your mother and the pups? How're you doing with your training?" He asked, curiously watching his son.

Adam|Omega|Human

Adam watched his father, surprised when he continued speaking of Kage and the other omega being fond of him. His father usually wasn’t impressed with aliens so his being impressed about Kage was a welcoming surprise. Does father wish Kage were his child instead. Kage probably wouldn’t have gotten siblings and cousins hurt killed. Adam wouldn’t be surprised if his father did, Kage was bigger and stronger, not stupid. Adam shifted on his feet, eyes flicking towards the pups who were staring with wide eyes. “I guess he is. He try help teach about modern pack.” When his father walked towards him and ruffled his hair, Adam whined. “Mother took me to Spruce. Spruce say travel make skinny wolf, need more food, soak paws in winter underground water. Mama Gaia snappy with unborn siblings and pups...pups rambunctious. Not listen...want always play...wrestle with omega, other pup. Mothers not like noise, make omegas take pups outside play.” Asked about his training, Adam sighed. “Training hard intense. Not used so much work. Like when demoted before,” said Adam, his face turning pink in embarrassment. “Thanatos push to exhaustion...yell...hit. Uncle push...not hit or yell me.” Adam was well aware alpha could do what he wanted but after days of not doing anything at modern pack, it was tough getting into training again.

Next Trial: 3 Hours as Human/3 Hours as Wolf

The race consisted of a lap around a designated course, 3 hours as man and 3 hours as beast; it seemed easy enough but Kage was in for a surprise. The first hour started off fine, his body moving swiftly and fast while using his energy wisely as not to sap too much. He jumped over logs, ducked underneath tree branches and fallen limbs, using his nimbleness to easily scape over obstacles. His thoughts were on Adam, pushing himself to the end to see his cute, adorable face that was so innocent and his ocean-filled eyes; he mentally sighed, wondering how he got so lucky.

"Huh, I wonder how he's doing in what..did she call it? The Void Den?" He thought to himself and furrowed his brow as he ran, his feet hitting the ground with soft thwumps. His green gaze penetrated the trees infront of him, his nose following the given scent that led him the right way. As the hours began to go by, he began growing more and more tired, but kept pushing on; his movements began to slow a bit until he got into his wolf form, his pace picking back up as he trekked up hill, down hill, jumping over obstacles and sliding down mud slopes.

Finally, after a long six hours of non-stop running, there was a few spectators waiting at the bottom of the slope he was currently on. The omega quickly slid down and used his claws to allow traction, his muscles aching from the run. With a heavy pant, he leapt down from the slope, his legs catching his heavy body. He trotted forward, his tongue lolling out of his muzzle, soon coming to a stop in front of the spectators from before, including the Alpha.

Thanatos|Alpha|Human

The Alpha himself had come to this test, sending out some guards and hunters to race Kage. A couple of those were siblings of Adam, a brother who was fourteen and a sister who was thirteen. Thanatos watched as the wolves fans to a stop, panting and licking their jowls. “Hmmm. Not a bad time. Now for the next part.

“You will be given a rope, grappling hook, a knife, three boxes of matches, a raincoat, two pairs of clothes, and a sleeping bag. The course is set up and marked by white blazes that should be easy to follow. However, they may be hidden by vegetation. You will receive no help but each part of the race consists of an activity. Some of my pack may follow you but you will be left to your own devices and wit. They will not help you.”

He motioned a human mate forward who brought a bag containing the required items. “You will start when the sun is at its zenith,” said Thanatos. “That leaves you...an hour to rest, get checked out by a Caretaker and get sustenance in you.”

As he finally came to a stop, he shifted, his large form nearly as big as the Alpha. Kage dipped his head respectfully and wiped some sweat from his forehead. He listened quietly as Thanatos spoke of the next trial, a human handing him a bag of supplies. The male nodded, throwing the bag over his shoulder. "Understood, sir. May I request to stop by and visit Adam to see how he is before I go to rest?" Kage requested, keeping his voice calm and respectful. Adjusting his stance, the brute rolled his broad shouldere; he'd been thinking about Adam ever since the tests had started.

With high ones supervising training of Kage, Adam’s training had been taken over by some guards. The teen wasn’t doing anything at the moment but for sweeping the den as Den Mother occupied the pups outside, leaving the elders and mothers to rest. Gaia had gone to Spruce as she was not sleeping, mother saying Gaia had lost her previous litter during his time away. The young teen watched the pups playing and tussling with each other, his cousin Ashfall sleeping. The teen hadn’t seen Kage since they arrived, the omega wondering how his friend was doing.

Kage nodded gratefully before shifting and made his way towards the Void den; he couldn't deny that excitement was coursing through him. He finally got to see Adam after so many days of being alone besides the proctors and overseers of his trials. Moving swiftly with the image of the male in his mind, he yipped with delight when he was in the range of the Void Den.

"Adam! Hey!" He barked, his paws hitting the ground faster now, his ears perked with joy; he could see the boy's form in the mouth of the den. So many feelings began to wash through the male, and he couldn't wait to see how he was doing, to tell him that his training was nearly done and that he'd be placed soon. In mid-leap, the male shifted and landed on his feet, a grin on his lips. As he strode to the Void Den, he let out a laugh as he began gushing. "You have no idea how much I've missed you, and I have so much to tell you! How have you been?"

Adam didn’t notice Kage coming towards the den as he leaned the brush against the side of one of the interior walls of the den, the teen looking up at the sound of his name being shouted, automatically looking first to Heather but the Den Mother was not the one who had shouted his name. The woman was busy breaking up a rough fight between two of the older pups. Starting forward to help out, one of the other omegas pointed in the distance before scurrying out to help Den Mother, Adam turning to face the den entrance and stepping out further so he could see what the other omega had noticed. Paws thudded the ground towards the Void Den, the teen cocking his head in confusion until he recognized Adam’s scent. The three legged omega from before barked that it was about time Adam had realized before limping out of the den and heading towards the water by the den to get a drink.

As soon as he realized who it was, Adam’s face broke into a smile as he saw the wolf now coming towards him and leapt into the air, shifting in mid-leap. The older teen began striding towards him with a grin plastered on his face, Adam waving as Kage approached and began gushing about missing him and there being much to speak of. The teen then inquired to the younger’s health. “Kage visit?” He questioned. The teen shook his head and then shrugged. “Train hard...not used work after old alpha lazy. Easy though with alpha oversee Kage, other guard help train.”

Kage laughed, his eyes twinkling brightly with confidence. "Yeah, I have an your before my multi-day trial begins; should be pretty easy, though it could be rigged to test my skills." He explained before opening his arms and pulled Adam into a tight hug. His eyes closed as he buried his nose into the Omega's hair. "You're one of the only things pushing me through this whole thing; I couldn't stop thinking about you.." The bigger male mumbled, his voice filled with sincerity.

“Multi-day trial? My parents and other mothers won’t say anything about what you’re going through,” said Adam. He squeaked as Kage opened his arms and pulled the omega into a hug, the older teen burying his head in Adam’s hair and inhaling the young one’s scent, Adam taken aback by the warm gesture from Kage. Though the sniffing of his hair did confuse the boy. “Multi-day trial tough. Don’t pass any of those tests, not get a rank,” said Adam. “We do them and big training hunt patrol, both sexes, to get rank and brand.”

The omega finally embraced Kage, parting the other’s back awkwardly. “Bored. Can’t wait until Heather let out...house arrest,” said Adam. “What other thing push Kage succeed beside me?”

Kage pulled away slowly and sighed softly. "That's probably because they don't like the fact that I'm actually passing these things; I think they are intentionally making them harder as time goes on." He murmured in a soft voice, his eyes flickering towards Adam. Listening intently to what the male had to say, he nodded slowly; it seemed that being on 'house arrest' had Adam being somewhat lonely besides the pups that practically pummeled him every time he moved near them. "I just want to be done with these tests; you were one of the reasons, joining is another, and just finishing up these damned tests are pretty much it.

Closing his eyes for a moment, he gave a soft yawn and stretched upwards, his muscles rippling beneath his torn up shirt.

Adam listened attentively, a frown coming to his face as he heard Kage sigh and then the omega speaking of them possibly making them harder because the high ones were upset about Kage passing the tests. When he spoke of wanting to be done with everything and then stated his reasons, Adam nodded. He was honestly surprised the other omega wanted to join the pack. Maybe that had something to do with him? Adam wasn't sure and he didn't know if he wanted to ask. "Maybe I let out when Kage done with tests." It would be nice to be allowed freedom to move again. "Rare for alien to be accepted...maybe that why being so hard or because you alpha son."
