Futuristic Into The Dark

Jarkov Malachai]whats that? get the F out of my hole of insecurity and relay said feelings of abandonment and childhood trauma on our characters face via the world recognized means of death?.... sure absolutely I have noshhhhhhh ch- oh my god I cant do it. I literally just started writing random crap in that sentence because I was bored and that's the shape it took on.
(:<) [URL="https://www.rpnation.com/profile/15856-itrinity/ said:
@iTrinity are you just gonna let him do this to the team?! Monsters

He's the antagonist of the roleplay. Currently awaiting one more emote before I further advance the plot.

I know. I'm just passing the time with needless plot-related banter. Acquianting myself with our new challenger. Procrastinating away

I feel as if I'm about to relive Alien: Isolation with significantly less stealth and hiding opportunities...

Hey, too late to join? Also, whats the rough NPC population on the ship?

I was thinking of some kind of adhoc sheriff or gangster character...

I don't think it's too late, though I'm not the one you'd be looking to for confirmation. I'd say look at the character thread and mold your character to the skeleton, post and see if it gets approved. That said, I'm sure it will be. I'd say a thing to pay attention to choosing wisely is your profession aboard the ship (if you choose to be be aboard The New Dawn, that is - If its a rogue or villian, or even a lone crusader you're looking to embody, you could go with a smaller vessel (though in that case you should consider the travel capabilities of your ship. I think we're in a completely different system from ours (read:earth) - perhaps your smaller ship could be part of a larger ship out on a scouting/scavenging mission? I was thinking about petitioning for another character role and doing this myself, so if you're looking for a gang to command, I could jump in on that, assuming any of this is approved, haha)). Right now aboard the Dawn, as I'm sure you can gather yourself from the character profiles, we have two technicians/mechanics, two medics (one the commander of the vessel), and a navigator - that's a loose fit for the current roles being occupied. My guess is we probably need some terraforming specialists, as the major issue the crew is facing deals with basic survival needs, like food and water, oxygen, etc. It also looks like we aren't far from alien encounter, so if your more interested in the meat of things, we could probably use a tactical specialist (kinda sounds like a role a sheriff could fill - there's no real need for an enforcer aboard the ship at the moment, but when shit hits the fan...).

Sorry about all the parenthetical statements. I embed a lot....

We could also use a miracle right now in the form of a salvageable ship as, again, we're on the brink of the end for our crew. I don't have a good sense of how many people are aboard the ship, btw. I remember reading it is suited for ten, but we are well over capacity. That is something you'll have to wait on for a definitive answer!

All good advice. I read over the characters and the thread this morning.

Although, I disagree about the enforcer role. If the ship's population is more than a small crew, then I could reasonably see things like starvation and stress pushing people into committing crimes for food. I as also thinking that seeing as most of the skills we have are technical and medical, it might be good to have someone who speaks for the social element.

I'll leave to to @iTrinity to decide if its appropriate. If there is another role that people would like filled, I'd be happy to consider it. I was also intending to just join as a regular member of the crew, but if people would like my characters entrance to be some sort of life-line, we can talk about that.

I was assuming people were aiming to land reasonably soon, not that I have an opinion.

I see your point, though I think you missed mine. Let me rephrase: I think an enforcer will be a critical role to be filled eventually, but the ship as it is now doesn't seem to have an active enforcer role, i.e. if you embodied this character on the Dawn, don't expect it to be too fruitful as far as crowd control goes. (Though you could always create that NPC situation yourself, obviously). That said, again, it looks like trouble is coming in the near future, so perhaps now is a perfect time for an enforcer.

We could really use a resident psychologist on the social end, haha

('A')....(:'() You nailed it.

@Ironrot

Here's the problem.

The ship's population would just scratch the thirties. When I said The Last Dawn could carry ten people, I meant it could carry 10 non-npc characters. Crime really wouldn't be an issue (yet) due to the fact people are still being fed at a normal rate. That wouldn't really be a problem, and may not even be one when we remove lunch from the schedule. Security would be needed however when Sebastian makes the decision to either condemn them to floating in space until they die, or crashing the ship into a planet that may or may not be habitable. Chaos may ensue either way.

People shouldn't really want to commit crimes aboard a tiny ship with a population of protagonists heavily outweighing antagonists. Perhaps after they land on a planet, someone might want to.

To be honest, I'd prefer if we all stayed friendly, if not neutral with one another. Human antagonists + Alien antagonists, while likely, would be very messy to deal with. However if you put enough effort into your "Gangster" character, I suppose I could consider it.

Rough NPC Count: 20, perhaps 25 including children.

Current character count:

6. A character sheet was posted but the player had issues with their account. He'll be reapplying under a new name.

I have a question

Could there be a soldier in futuristic power armor on the ship?

Cuz you know

I cant say anything about that as im not the Gm... but I can tell you it wont help you much against whats coming later in the rp.

Oh, gotta be pretty badass then.

I was thinking something along these lines. Of course, if it can't be it cant be, but a soldier character I would like to make.

yea since were all refugees save for me and mine that wouldn't be plausible. Were escaping a dying planet, food and the like took precedence over MECH SUITS. badass though, but hey ask iTrinity.

Yeah, when I saw the title I said "oooh badass mecha time!" Then I read the overview and was like "Okaay maybe not"

I already knew that its not plausible, but its worth a try xD

*grins* absolutely man, sometimes ya just got to ask. Hell that's what I do with the lovely beautiful aliens that im about to use as the antagonists on this role play. Most sci fi rps here don't bother with them but oh boy am I glad whenever someone lets me use 'em.

Aliens??

Awe yeah!

The title of the image is actually Bug Hunt XDD

I don't think you would call these aliens anything so insignificant as... bugs. They are not Xenomorphs or little zerglins which the big bad space marines punish. *smirks* these are the hunters which reside in the darkest parts of your DNA... the hunters which mankind has reason to fear in their most primal depths.

I don't, gave 'meself nightmares once as I was writing a post up with one of these things. Made a friend of mine paranoid as fuck to, I counted that as a victory.

Correction, not nightmares, and not paranoid but unease whenever they popped into our mind. It really got on her nerves that she kept thinking she saw one of them in the darkness whenever she was tired and staying up late as hell and our rp was running through her mind. To which I responded go to bed earlier. 4'oclock is not good enough... *grins*

Well brainiacs are cool and whatnot but there still have to be the guys and gals who are not afraid to get dirty and stuck in the mud.

I just have to wait now for someone to check the power.
